22Gz To Young Rappers: Dumb Down The Dissing

Brooklyn-based artist 22Gz has not been afraid to take part in rap feuds. For example, 22Gz went off on Staten Island’s CJ over accusations the “Whoopty” rhymer was stealing the Brooklyn Drill sound.

Additionally, 22Gz had an issue with other New York area rappers. In a new sit-down with HipHopDX, the 24-year-old Flatbush representative is now advising younger rappers to tone down the aggressive rhetoric against rivals in their music.

“All these young n#####, they got heat. I ain’t gonna lie,” said 22Gz. “They got heat. They doing their thing. Just gotta dumb the dissing down cause n##### don’t hear you, n##### straight hear the dissing and say f### the whole song.”

The affiliate of Florida rapper Kodak Black’s Sniper Gang added, “It’s how you diss though… A n####’s moms can’t hear that type s###… Are you really trying to make it or what?”

Plus, the interview included 22Gz naming his Top 5 rappers from New York City. The Growth & Development mixtape creator listed 50 Cent, Jadakiss, Jay-Z, The Notorious B.I.G., and himself.

Nearly one year ago in February 2021, AllHipHop spoke to 22Gz about his issues with other NYC rhymers like CJ and Tekashi 6ix9ine. 22Gz dropped The Blixky Tape 2 project the following month.

The Blixky Tape 2 arrived two years after The Blixky Tape. That 2019 Atlantic Records release is credited as one of the essential projects in the Brooklyn Drill movement which also includes acts such as Bobby Shmurda, Pop Smoke, Fivio Foreign, and Sheff G.

Cordae Talks Nearly Putting Lil Wayne & Eminem On The Same ‘FABEV’ Track

Hip Hop legends Lil Wayne and Eminem joined forces on memorable songs such as “No Love,” “Drop The World,” and “Forever.” Rising rap star Cordae wanted to reunite Weezy and Slim Shady on his new album.

Cordae spoke to Ebro Darden on Apple Music 1 about topics related to From a Birds Eye View. The 24-year-old, Maryland-raised emcee mentioned “Sinister” was nearly a three-man collaboration.

“When I made ‘Parables,’ I knew Eminem’s vocal tone would sound good on that because the beat is like that airy vibe on some Slim Shady, Marshall Mathers LP sort of vibe. So I knew his vocal tone would thrive on that,” said Cordae. “With ‘Sinister,’ that really wasn’t even going to be an album cut. But Wayne accented that, he brought that record up, honestly. So I just want to make the best music possible, versus like, ‘Okay, I got Em on this, let me redo my verse, let me redo this verse because I got Wayne on it.'”

Cordae continued, “Like no, I like how I introed it in. It threw the between the leg alley-oop for bro to windmill slam dunk it. Funny enough, I was going to put Eminem on ‘Sinister’ as well. It was going to be Wayne and Eminem all on ‘Sinister.'”

Ultimately, Cordae went with having “Sinister” only feature Lil Wayne. Meanwhile, Eminem showed up on the From a Birds Eye View track titled “Parables (Remix).” Cordae expounded on why he decided against putting both rap icons together again.

“Just for all the Hollywood glitz and glam, it would’ve been cool because it’s Wayne and Em on the same track,” stated Cordae. “I know how Drake did it on ‘Forever,’ and I was just like, ‘Yo, that’s just a flex move of putting Wayne and Em on the same record.’ Nobody’s done this since Drake did it on ‘Forever.’ I’m kind of just showing my muscle. But it wouldn’t have been the proper record, if that makes sense.”

From a Birds Eye View also featured Gunna, H.E.R., Lil Durk, Stevie Wonder, Freddie Gibbs, Roddy Ricch, and Ant Clemons. Cordae’s second studio album was met with mostly positive reviews. The LP’s Metacritic score currently sits at 73/100.

Doja Cat’s ‘Planet Her’ Album Spends Half A Year In The Billboard 200’s Top 10

Planet Her is presently the #10 album on the Billboard 200. Doja Cat’s third studio LP collected an additional 32,000 equivalent album units in the latest tracking period.

According to Chart Data, Planet Her has now spent half a year in the Billboard 200’s Top 10. This is reportedly the first project by a female rapper to spend that amount of time in that region of the chart.

Planet Her peaked at #2 in July 2021. The album spent four non-consecutive weeks in that position. As of this week, Planet Her has sold around 1.5 million total units.

Doja Cat recruited Young Thug, Ariana Grande, The Weeknd, JID, and SZA for guest features on Planet Her. A deluxe edition of the album includes Eve and Gunna.

The Recording Academy nominated Planet Her for Best Pop Vocal Album and Album Of The Year. Doja Cat scored seven total Grammy nominations at the upcoming 64th annual ceremony.

Last night saw Doja Cat present a new music video for the Nicki Minaj-inspired Planet Her track “Get Into It (Yuh).” In addition, “Kiss Me More” featuring SZA joined the 1 Billion Club on Spotify.

YoungBoy Never Broke Again Scores 8th Top 10 Project With ‘Colors’

Baton Rouge-bred rapper YoungBoy Never Broke Again dropped Colors on January 21. The Atlantic recording artist’s latest commercial mixtape debuted in the Top 5 on the Billboard 200.

Colors opened with 79,000 first-week album units, giving YoungBoy Never Broke Again the #2 project in the country. YoungBoy now has eight Top 10 entries.

The 22-year-old rhymer has four career Number Ones: AI YoungBoy 2 in 2019, 38 Baby 2 in 2020, Top in 2020, and Sincerely, Kentrell in 2021. 2020’s Still Flexin, Still Steppin peaked at #2.

Colors amassed 118.56 million on-demand streams in its first seven days of release. This week’s #1, the Encanto soundtrack, brought in 115,000 equivalent units and 138.51 million streams.

YoungBoy Never Broke Again recently uploaded an official music video for the Colors single “No Switch.” Those visuals have collected over 4 million YouTube views and are currently trending at #3 in the platform’s music section.

Elsewhere on the Billboard 200, Gunna’s former #1, DS4Ever, fell one spot to #3 (69,000 equivalent album units). The Weeknd’s Dawn FM dropped from #4 to #3 (43,000 units).

The latest visuals are taken from her 2021 album “Planet Her.” Doja continued the intergalactic theme during the effects-heavy video. Doja Cat plays the captain of a spaceship on a mission to retrieve her cat Starscream, who has been taken hostage by a crew of aliens. However, she triumphs in the final showdown, deflecting laser beams with her powerful twerk!

Meanwhile, Doja Cat celebrated being honored at Billboard’s 2022 Women In Music Awards. She will receive the Powerhouse Award and will also perform at the annual ceremony.

Tory Lanez has spoken in defense of Chris Brown after the singer was accused of rape by a Jane Doe accuser.  

“They really need to leave my dawg @chrisbrownofficial alone and just let him be great!” Tory wrote on his Instagram Story. “Every time he got some good sh*t going on.. or he start a album rollout here somebody come with some fake sh*t to drag him down!!!!! The as-yet-unnamed woman claims she was invited to spend time with Chris on a yacht parked outside Diddy’s Star Island mansion. She alleged that the singer gave her two drinks, and after the second, she felt “disoriented, physically unstable, and started to fall in and out of sleep.” She claims Chris Brown then escorted her to a bedroom while she was “drugged” and “half-asleep,” where he proceeded to rape her. 

Once the allegations surfaced, Chris Brown also used his Instagram Stories to seemingly address the situation, albeit in a cryptic fashion.  

“I HOPE YALL SEE THIS PATTERN OF (lying) whenever im releasing music or projects, ‘THEY’ try to pull some real bulls**t.” 

Jane Doe claims the alleged assault caused severe emotional distress and has filed a $20 million lawsuit against Chris Brown. Her attorneys told TMZ that she felt too embarrassed to report the rape.  

Lil’ Kim, Jadakiss, Ja Rule, Ma$e & Lil’ Cease Perform At DJ Cassidy’s “Pass The Mic” Live

Lil’ Kim, Jadakiss, Ja Rule, Ma$e, and Lil’ Cease all rocked the stage at the 2022 Pegasus World Cup horse race in Miami this weekend, proving nineties Hip-Hop continues to be as popular as ever! 

DJ Cassidy hosted his first-ever “Pass the Mic” live event on Saturday (Jan. 29) newly-opened Carousel Club at Gulfstream Park. He bought each artist out to perform a brief medley of their greatest hits while he took to the turntables.  

Ma$e was the first to appear on stage to deliver a set of hits, including “Been Around the World,” “Feel So Good,” “Mo Money Mo Problems,” and the Bad Boy remix of “Only You.” 

The Queen Bee herself came next, opening with her verse on “Get Money” and “No Time,” before bringing out a surprise guest, Lil Cease! The former Junior M.A.F.I.A rapper joined Lil Kim, and the pair rocked the stage like it was old times.

However, the biggest surprise of the night came from an unexpected appearance on stage from Jadakiss, who joined Lil Cease and Kim for a rendition of “It’s All About the Benjamins.” 

While DJ Cassidy had previously announced Ja Rule, Lil Kim, and Ma$e, the arrival of Jada and Lil Cease was a welcome surprise.

He revealed the stars were happy to be a part of his first live “Pass The Mic” set during a recent interview. 

“Ja, Kim and Mase have some of the greatest party records of all time. They define the eras in which they debuted and they are hip-hop heroes around the world,” Cassidy tells The Hollywood Reporter. “When I called them, it was a very quick conversation. ‘I’m taking ‘Pass The Mic’ to the stage for the first time at this event and I need you to take part.’ And their answer was, of course, ‘yes.’” 

Lil’ Kim took to Instagram to share a series of stunning images from the night.

Missy Elliott Celebrates Historic Win for Female Rap

Missy Elliott has topped the charts since her arrival on the scene in 1997, churning out hit after hit in her inimitable fashion. 

The legendary Hip-Hop icon took to Twitter to celebrate an incredible achievement. She becomes the first female rapper to achieve six platinum-certified albums, the highest among her peers. Ever humble, Missy Elliott also made sure to pay tribute to her fellow “sisters in Hip-Hop” while commemorating her own success.  

“This is a HUGE MILESTONE!” she tweeted. “No matter how long it took to get here I am here & I AM HUMBLY GRATEFUL To all my SISTERS in HIPHOP yall keep doing yall thang & SHINING.” 

Missy also shared a thread created by a fan and expressed her gratitude to her loyal supporters. 

“God knows I am Humbly Grateful for this THREAD below & the reason I always say that because no matter how much TALENT a artist has it’s because of the FANS SUPPORT that HISTORY can be made! Love each of you & @AtlanticRecords @elektrarecords.” 

The thread celebrated several of Missy Elliott’s historic accolades, a list of “firsts” that would make Soulja Boy envious! Among her many feats, the fan included her induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame and her Honorary Doctorate in Music from Berklee College.

Meanwhile, a seventh studio album could be on the way after veteran long-time Missy Elliott collaborator Timbaland hinted the pair were working on a project. Back in December, he tweeted, “Who ready for that @MissyElliott Timbo album??????👀👀👀👀”

The FBI’s Secret Video May Lose The Case Against The NFAC’s Grand Master Jay

Grand Master Jay faces federal charges later this year, but in the meantime, he may have found a gift from God if the rumors are correct.

Grand Master Jay is the leader of an organization called the NFAC crew and you should know what that means by now. But they are basically America’s largest black militia. There is essentially footage that appears to refute the charges that he was pointing a rifle at law officers. For the record, he was formally charged with five counts of wanton endangerment in the first degree (the most serious charge), one count of assaulting, resisting, or impeding officers and one count of brandishing a firearm in connection with a violent crime.

All of this happened at a military formation in honor of Breonna Taylor, the young lady who was murdered by the cops as they did a no-knock warrant at her house. Anyway, the authorities maintain that at that NFAC military formation, GMJ pointed his gun upwards towards the law officials on the roof. One thing that we should all know, is that the NFAC has been pretty resolute in obeying all American laws to the teeth. They don’t violate any laws on purpose, as they understand being a black militia has its drawbacks in this racist country. All those guns? A death sentence!

So what about that footage?

We have reviewed the footage and it looks legitimate. What it shows is Grand Master Jay giving a brief hug to a police official, in a manner that certainly does not suggest malice or hostility towards them. Remember, this is America. If you point a GUN at FIVE officers…you are going to die. Period! This is why the charges came months later after the formation was long over. His supporters maintian it is all bogus!

Nick Cannon May Be A Dad Again After Baby Shower Appearance

It appears as though Nick Cannon may have ignored the advice of his therapist.

Back in September of 2021, Nick’s therapist advised him to be celibate after he fathered four babies from three different women that year.

However, Nick’s urge to procreate may have been too strong for him to follow the clinical advice.

According to TMZ, Nick Cannon and Bre Tiesi hosted a baby shower in Malibu over the weekend.

Bre was married to ex-NFL quarterback Johnny Manziel from 2018, until 2019 when they called the quits.

However, Bre’s divorce from Johnny Manziel was not finalized until November of 2021.

If the reports prove to be accurate, Nick and Bre wasted no time hooking up.

During the baby shower over the weekend, Nick and Bre cuddled with each other, as the daytime talk show host cradled her belly bump.

The baby shower also served as a gender reveal party. Bre announced she was having a baby boy.

The new baby will be Nick’s 7th child.

Nick also has two 10-year-old twins (Moroccan and Monroe) with his former wife Mariah Carey.

He is also the father of Golden Sagon and Powerful Queen with model Brittany Bell.

In June of 2021, Nick welcomed his second set of twins Zion and Zillion with Abby De La Rosa.

Nine days later had a boy named Zen with Alyssa Scott. Tragically, Nick revealed Zen died of brain cancer in December.

So far, neither Nick nor Bre have made a public announcement confirming or denying the paternity of the child.

Jermaine Dupri Dragged After Cheating On Janet Jackson And Laughing About It

Rap star Jermaine Dupri is catching the wrath of Twitter, thanks to the “JANET JACKSON” four-hour documentary, which premiered over two nights on Lifetime and A&E. 

The series, which took three years to complete, gives fans unprecedented access to Janet through unreleased archival footage, home videos, and interviews.

“JANET JACKSON” delves into a number of topics, ranging from her relationship with her dad Joe and her famous brothers, including Michael, to her failed marriage with James DeBarge and her other relationships. 

But Twitter seems to be especially mad at rap mogul Jermaine Dupri, who dated Janet from 2002 to 2009. 

“I didn’t need Janet Jackson to amplify my life, but I feel like it did,” Jermain Dupri quipped during his interview for “JANET JACKSON.” 

Now, his dirty laundry is coming out in the wash because the documentary revealed the reason why Jermaine Dupri and Janet Jackson split up – because he cheated on her. 

During part 4 of the documentary, Janet Jackson dropped the bombshell that Jermaine was unfaithful, and he admitted to being “reckless” during their seven-year relationship while giggling. 

“One of the weird things about dating Janet is that dating Janet attracts other women. Girls wanted to talk to me more because I was dating her, which was really weird…and uhh, just yanno…I was a man,” Dupri said before letting out a boisterous laugh. 

According to Janet, it was not just the cheating that drove a wedge in between their relationship. She claimed Dupri was emotionally distant. 

“He was a work-a-holic. And he was constantly working. I would not see him for like three weeks, a month. And as soon as he would come in, he would go to the club. And it’s like carve out just a little time for me…, and it was hard for him to do,” Janet Jackson said. “His girlfriend was his work.”

Twitter had a field day with Jermaine Dupri’s comments, causing the So So Def founder to become a trending topic on the platform. 

“I peeped how Jermaine Dupri low key tried to blame Janet for him cheating. Talmbout, “being with Janet Jackson attracts more women. Accountability is completely non-existent,” one user wrote. 

Another user said: “Seriously Jermaine Dupri you think it’s funny to laugh about cheating on Janet? And you working with Justin now. Just Trash! All around trash.”

Moneybagg Yo Mourns Death Of Murdered Bread Gang Rapper Nuskie

A rapper with close ties to Moneybagg Yo has been gunned down, sparking an outpouring of grief from the Bread Gang Records CEO. 

Moneybagg Yo confirmed the death of rapper Nuskie, who was reportedly shot to death in their hometown of Memphis, Tennessee. Moneybagg Yo flooded his timeline with images paying tribute to his fallen comrade. 

Nuskie’s cousin Big30, also signed to Bread Gang, posted a touching tribute in honor of the deceased rapper, who was killed around 7:00 PM in the Whitehaven section of the city.

“My heart 💔💔💔💔💔💔 my cousin my everything all I kno since kindergarten my go to man my role model everything gone‼️‼️”Big30 lamented.

Another Bread Gang member Big Homiie G also confirmed the death of Nuskie. 

So far, the police have yet to comment on the shooting death of Nuskie. However, his death continues the pattern of violence gripping the city of Memphis. 

In 2021, the city saw a record number of 342 people gunned down, including rap superstar Young Dolph, who was shot and killed at close range as he shopped for cookies in a local bakery. 

Police have three suspects in custody over Young Dolph’s shooting. 

Justin Johnson, 23, has been charged with first-degree murder, and the second alleged gunman, Cornelius Smith, 32, has also been charged with first-degree murder.

Another man, Shundale Barnett, 27, has been charged with being an after-the-fact accessory to first-degree murder for helping Johnson avoid arrest for almost a week.

Ice-T Becomes Face Of Cheerios While Remaining The Super OG Of Rap

Rapper, Actor, Producer, and rockstar Ice-T can now add Cheerios to his burgeoning résumé.

The artist is now the face of Honey Nut Cheerios by teaming up with the breakfast brand to help people become more healthy. Specifically, want people to exercise more and consider overall wellness more this year.

The cereal giant, which is owned by General Mills, announced they will launch a new initiative called “Pour Your Heart Into It,” where Ice-T and the Cheerios mascot Buzz Bee coach individuals trying to improve their health.

“This stuff doesn’t have to be hard. It can be as simple as a bowl of Cheerios and a walk around the block,” Ice-T explained. “That’s why I wanted to join Buzz to share some different ways to start to get your heart pumping regularly, and help make diet and exercise a happy part of your day.”

The goal is to get the body moving, the heart pumping, and also enjoying the health benefits of a bowl of Cheerios.

Fans can join Coach Ice-T on Pandora as he narrates the 4-minute walking, stretching, core strengthening and dance “Pour Your Heart Into It” workouts, which are accessible via QR code on the back of the limited-edition happy heart shape boxes.

Fat Joe Addresses Yeezy Boot Backlash With An Unquestionable Response

Fat Joe has offered up a very reasonable defense for an outfit that has the entire rap community talking.

Yesterday (January 28th), the Bronx rapper posted a picture of himself getting ready for an impending snowstorm.

The rap star rocked a Balenciaga army jacket over his Saleen hoodie. But it was his choice of footwear, which sent the internet into overdrive.

Fat Joe, who is a well known sneaker collector and aficionado, chose to wear a pair of oversized looking Yeezy Insulated Khaki boots.

Almost immediately, a variety of fat Joe’s close associates started making fun of his fashion sense.

Noreaga stated “U went to far lol” while producer Jazze Pha commented, “Yesterday’s Boots are NOTTT Today’s BOOTS.”

During an IG live with journalist Brian “B. Dot” Miller, pressed Joey Crack for not sticking to New York ethos.

“I wanna know what’s wrong with the outfit,” Fat Joe said.

“It’s not the outfit per se Crack, it’s just the boots. The boots are is just a little bit too bloated,” B-Dot said while questioning why he did not opt for the city’s staple, a good old pair of 40 Below Timberlands.

While Fat Joe appeared to admit his choice of snow boots was a bit odd, he defended himself nonetheless with an argument B-Dot could not contest.

“I’m supporting black-owned businesses when I throw on some Kanye’s,” Fat Joe proclaimed.

For the record, the pair of Yeezy snow boots Fat Joe was rocking gopher no less than $1,000 on sites like StockX and Stadium Goods.

And, he realized the criticism was in good fun. He even posted several memes making fun of himself on his official Instagram account.

Suspects In Young Dolph Case Get Additional Week To Find Lawyers

The suspects in the Young Dolph murder case have received an additional week to find legal representation for their defense.

After making their second court appearance on Friday, Jan. 28, Justin Johnson and Cornelius Smith stood before the bench without lawyers for their case regarding the murder of rapper Young Dolph.

The judge extended the courtesy of the court and gave them an extra week to hire representation, before saying he would appoint public defenders for them on Friday, Feb. 4.

Johnson, 23, and Smith, 32, were identified by the Shelby County District Attorney General’s Office as the shooters of the 36-year-old rapper last November outside of the Makeda’s Cookie Shop on Airways Blvd.

Both men, according to ABC 24, were indicted on counts of first-degree premeditated murder, attempted first-degree murder, being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, employment of a firearm in the commission of a dangerous felony, and theft of property over $10,000.

They also declined public defenders during their initial court appearance to address the charges.

“If you have a lawyer hired, that’s fine, but as I told you 10 days ago, I cannot allow you to sit in jail week after week, month after month, without a lawyer. If you don’t have a lawyer hired on February 4th, I’m going to hire a private attorney to represent both of you all,” Judge Lee Coffee said.

Smith was caught in DeSoto County, Mississippi on a theft charge on Dec. 9 and brought to Memphis.

Johnson, like Young Dolph, was a rapper. He went by the name of Straight Drop and was arrested while on the run with a friend on Jan. 11 in Indiana by U.S. Marshals.

The friend was 26-year-old Shundale Barnett. Barnett, now, faces charges including accessory after the fact to first-degree murder for allegedly helping Johnson not get caught.
