Vigilante Talks “Fly Away” ft. Dondria & How Trevor Jackson Got Him To Act

When you look up the word “vigilante” in the dictionary, it defines the word as “a member of a self-appointed group of citizens who undertake law enforcement in their community without legal authority, typically because the legal agencies are thought to be inadequate.”

Vigilante is a Flint-born, Ann Arbor-raised actor and recording artist who’s here to make a lasting impact on the industry as a whole. Being the dynamic person he is, Vigilante was the only moniker that could encompass who he is as a person and what he plans to mean to the industry.

Vigilante explains, “I feel like there’s a gap right now, between the talented artists, untalented artists. The people who are here for the money, the people who do it for the passion. There’s a whole split. We live in this new PC culture where you can’t really give your actual opinion on anything, and just being the bridge between that gap right there. To let everyone know it’s okay to have your opinion on everything and still be supportive of that.”

Most recently, Vigilante unleashed his newest single titled “FLY AWAY,” tapping So So Def recording artist Dondria Nicole best known for her Platinum-selling hit single “You’re The One.”

AllHipHop: You’re from Michigan, how was that growing up?

Vigilante: Growing up in Michigan, whew man. Every “hood” has the same conditions they go through in order for you to be able to harden yourself to survive for real life. There, I was sheltered myself as far as my family trying to keep me away from gangs, drinking, smoking, violence, stuff like that. I never fell victim to any of that stuff early, but everything was around. I had to figure out how to navigate through all that, and not get shot by the police at the same time.

AllHipHop: When’d you fall in love with music?

Vigilante: I fell in love with music early. My stepdad had a MIDI board, my mom gifted it to him. He started letting my uncle, who was the lead of ministry at our church, use it. I found it so interesting how the same MIDI board that my stepdad didn’t know how to play, my uncle would take to church and master. Lead a whole choir with it, make a whole production with it. That’s how I learned how to make beats. That’s how I learned how to hear strings and chords, and how to do a choir. I learned how to be Kanye, up here, and started to do that with all my music. I started to hone in on the instruments, and really redirect the craft. Not just try to make a hit song, but actually loving music. The notes, the strings, the orchestra, how everything comes together.

AllHipHop: When did you realize you could do music for a living? Was there a turning point?

Vigilante: I honestly never thought I was going to be an actual musician that made money from doing music. It wasn’t until Lil Wayne released No Ceilings, I did a remix to “Ice Cream Paint Job,” “Watch My Shoes,” and “Wasted” — because he did it. Lil Wayne was so poppin’ that I didn’t even realize that “Watch My Shoes” was somebody else’s song. That’s how you know you know you’re poppin, when the remix is the biggest out of the songs. I put it on YouTube, back when YouTube had first started, when going viral actually meant something.

I started going viral from Facebook when people were posting on each other’s walls, then it started going viral on YouTube. This was before YouTube was even monetized. I’m like “Wow okay, they’re about to start making money from YouTube. I can really hone in on this craft. I can start putting these out annually, put them on the schedule.” Started dropping mixtapes, started getting money from it. My stepdad wanted us to keep on selling CDs hand to hand at Walmart, but I didn’t want to do it. I went into the metaverse early. So when you look at my following now, that’s everything coming into fruition from what I told him was going to happen back then. He wanted us to do things hand to hand, I wanted to go online.

AllHipHop: You released “That’s How We Do It “4 years ago, how was that experience?

Vigilante: I don’t have a lot of club bangers so when I made that beat, it was something so special about it. It crossed over because I made it for a TV Show. The instrumental was going to be the intro and outro for the TV show, he said, “yo this is a dope track.” Then behind-the-scenes, I recorded a full song to it but never told him.

So when I recorded “That’s How We Do It” the full song, he’s like “bro do you have any words to this?” I said “well I did just make a whole track out of it.” I sent it to him. He said “this is perfect for the intro and outro,” and that’s what it became. I said “since this is going to be the intro and outro, I might as well put the song out so people can find it everywhere.” I can make money from my residuals from the show, and from it being a hot ass song. That’s how it came about.

AllHipHop: I love how positive and motivating “Fly Away” is. What inspires you to create such an uplifting song?

Vigilante: Man, I might’ve created “That’s How We Do It” and “Fly Away” at the same time. I sat on it. Have you watched the Kanye West documentary? Essentially what he did with “All Falls Down,” how he had that song for so many years and knew he didn’t want to put it out until a certain time, I did the same exact thing with “Fly Away.” When the pandemic hit, because I’m predominantly a model, an actor, and an influencer, the industry never seen it take that kind of hit in modern day. I’m like “you know what? There’s only one thing in my career I can control, and that’s my music.” I decided to put Dondria on that hook, then put it out as my first official mainstream crossover song.

AllHipHop: How’d you link with Dondria?

Vigilante: I just shot her an email. Her team responded very promptly, they were really impressed with the track. They were ready to work ASAP. [snaps] We put out a rollout together. It was like a big sister, little brother thing immediately, as soon as we linked up.

AllHipHop: How was it like working with her? She’s obviously super talented, signed to So So Def.

Vigilante: It was confirmation that I was doing the right thing. Certain people are scared to do things because they don’t want to put themselves in a position to be ridiculed. I put myself in a position to be ridiculed so I could elevate. I knew that if I stood next to her, I could only get better. She was going to tighten me up, because she has so many years of experience on me. That’s exactly what happened. I was touring a stage play called Go Back and Get God, and we didn’t have a song at the end. Now “Fly Away” is going to be the song when we go back on tour for Go Back and Get God. That song came about completely unrelated to the stage play.

AllHipHop: How was it shooting the music video? The waterfall was beautiful.

Vigilante: Thank you, well we shot a video before that. The video we shot didn’t come out the way we planned for it to come out. I spent a couple thousand on that, and I was a little frustrated because she didn’t like it. I didn’t want to put out anything that someone I’m working with doesn’t like. A song needs a visual to match it in quality and expectation, because it’s going to be out forever.

One of my friends was in town. He offered to shoot the music video, but Dondria’s schedule was so tight that we couldn’t just do it on the fly. I asked “Do you know any waterfalls?” He said “yeah, there’s a place called Victory Creek.” He told me what street it was on. I’d been down that street, but never down the end of that street. I went to the end of the street and that beautiful waterfall from the video was right at the end. “Fly Away” needed to have something flying in the video, that’s where the doves came in. From me being an actor for so many years, I said “let’s create a storyline around it.” That’s how you get the bucket, all that. I did the treatment on the spot.

AllHipHop: Talk about wanting to sign with Dame Dash and Master P? You still want to sign with them?

Vigilante: Oh yeah, for sure! And if I don’t sign, I want to do some really good business with them. Just pick at their brain, because they have such intimate knowledge. They’re the only two that are vocal, that people can still believe in. If we’re in a deal together and you don’t like the deal, just walk away. Instead of keeping you locked in this deal, you owe me this money and you need to go to court for that. I can’t see either of them really being two people that do that. With the type of music that I make, I know I can make a label millions and billions. Put into the right arenas and right movies. With a person like Master P, Dame Dash, or both working together for the first time if they never worked together, this can be something that’s monumental. Life-changing.

AllHipHop: Why haven’t you dropped your album Flawless Recovery?

Vigilante: I haven’t dropped that for the same thing Kanye felt. It needs to be the perfect timing, and the perfect situation for me to release this body of work. Because I can’t re-release it. Once it’s out there, it’s out there. I already have it done. I’d love to be in a situation where a label’s like “Listen, we love what you got. Here’s however much, finalize it, fine tune it, then we’re going to put it out to this many stations. To this many this, this many that. We work in tangent as a partnership rather than me doing all the groundwork and legwork myself for 15 to 17 tracks, which is exhausting. I’d have to have the right partnership for me to do that.

AllHipHop: Why did you turn a song down from Lil Bow Wow?

Vigilante: Oh man, that hurt too. It was around the same time I did a song with Dondria. Bow invited me to do an Instagram live with him, so I did the Live. After the Live, I woke up the next morning to 300 DMs.

AllHipHop: He asked you to go on Live?

Vigilante: Yeah, I guess he was seeing the work that was going on. Bow lives in Atlanta. Here it’s big, but it’s small. When you’re moving around, people hear. His ear is very much to the streets. He stays in the club every week, he loves the strip club so much. He invited me to come on, we did the Live. It was so dope. After the Live, I woke up the next morning to all the DMs. I dedicated the whole day to answering all those DMs. The day after that, he hit me back saying “bro that was such a dope Live, I want to do this track with you.” We started talking about the numbers and the business situation, behind-the-scenes stuff. This could be so dope, but it just doesn’t make sense right now. It was right during the middle of the pandemic.

AllHipHop: Why didn’t it make sense?

Vigilante: He wanted to do a club record. At that time, every club in Atlanta was closed. Every radio station was quarantined. We’d be strictly going off social media, there was no place for me to do any legwork. I was leaning on him like “Okay if we do this, your social media is going to predominantly be the one we have to use. Even if I have to up the business arrangement for us to do that.” He didn’t want to go that route. It didn’t make sense because I wouldn’t recoup fast enough, or in time for the record to still mean something to people because we don’t know how long the quarantine’s going to last. Any other artist might’ve jumped on that, they would’ve been in a hole because they wouldn’t have known they had to work the record in order to recoup the money.

AllHipHop: How did Trevor Jackson Start your acting career?

Vigilante: Oh man, huge shoutout to Trevor Jackson. Huge shoutout to you as well, that was such a dope interview y’all did. What happened was in 2015, I was chillin’ at home. I saw a flier on my Instagram saying Trevor Jackson would be at this church downtown. I know where this church was. I take this bus, I take this train, I take this bus and I’ll be there. That’s what I did, freezing cold in January. I walked past security, hair and makeup, crafting, everybody. I walked to where him and his mom were in the back dressing room. At this time, I had never been in any movies, so I didn’t know what I was walking past. People probably felt like I should’ve been there because of how comfortably I was walking.

I meet him, he started showing me stuff he can play on the piano. I show him other stuff he can play on the piano. We take the picture that’s on my Instagram. I’m leaving, then he goes “Do you want to stay and be in this movie?” I asked “this is a movie set?” He said “Yeah.” I asked the name of the movie, he said Sons 2 The Grave. I asked him what I’d do because I had never acted. I didn’t know anything about acting. He told me “go to that room over there, and you’d officially be in the movie.” I found out that room was extras holding. After I left extras holding, they took us to set. We were background for a scene he was doing. We filmed for 2 or 3 hours, then we were done. I realized this is what it’s like to be in a movie. It opened my mind to the possibility of joining the industry. 2 months later, my stepdad hit me and told me V103 had a casting for Barbershop 3 and Alvin and the Chipmunks 4. Those were my first 2 background sets. When I got paid for both of those, it was more money in one day than I had been paid in 5 years. Well, that answers that.

AllHipHop: What’s it been like being the lead role in For My Man?

Vigilante: Oh man, it has been such a journey starting from the background. I quit my 9 to 5 I was working at that time. They told me I couldn’t miss any more days, then I started working with Tyler Perry. It’s time for me to make that leap of faith, and I did it. I started getting feature roles, recurring roles, then co-lead. For My Man was when my first lead role hit national television. I filmed For My Man 3 times.

After the second time filming, I was on my way back to my hotel room. I was literally putting my key card to the hotel door when my cousin texted me “Turn the TV on.” And there I was, on national TV as the lead role for For My Man. I just knew from that point, my price went up and that my life was going to be different. There was no way I could go back to living how I was after getting a leading role on national television. That’s what was going through my mind.

AllHipHop: Talk about landing your playing cards deal?

Vigilante: Shout out to YOD Cards. I was on set for Shaft when I was doing background, there was a Grand Hustle artist there as well. They were playing spades, I was watching. I didn’t know how to play at that time. I didn’t grow up playing spades. They were kicking everybody’s ass. I couldn’t figure out why everybody was losing. I didn’t get it, but once I did, I’d beat everybody here. It seemed simple enough for me to get it. I started practicing on my phone, downloading some apps.

Once I got better, I came back to the table. I wanted to make this something they’re going to remember. I went to Zazzle and got a custom deck made of my face on the back of some playing cards. I didn’t think anything of it, I just thought it was something to do. We were at Domani Harris’s video shoot for his song “Still Got Love.” We had some downtime because they had to do a set design. Everybody pulled out their regular spades cards, I pulled out mine with my face on it. I started passing them out. Everybody was staring at them, nobody was even looking at their hand. I said “you know what, this might be a good promotion tactic right here.” Everybody was blown away by this, and I did it by accident. I went to You’re On Deck, showed them the custom deck from Zazzle and they cut me a deal the same day.

AllHipHop: What’s your crazy Tank story?

Vigilante: Tank has a dope record called “Lion” that never got released. When it does come out I want you to do one of those flashbacks that Vlad does. This is one of those moments right here. We were filming, we were upstairs and they’re talking about somebody I looked like at the time. They said “he looks like him, I wonder if he can sing like him.” So they’re waiting for me to sing, right there on the spot on set of Saints & Sinners. My friend from the last story was on set, he’s an actual singer. I told him “yo, just stay close to me. I guarantee a big opportunity will present itself.” At that time, he was on the other side of the set where I told him not to be. That would’ve been his moment right there to sing in front of Tank. I guarantee how talented he was, that Tank definitely would sign him.

AllHipHop: You were cosigned by Ms. Deb?

Vigilante: Yes, shout out to Ms Deb. She gave me a dope interview on V100 radio. The year before, I was there interviewing with her sons. I didn’t even know her. She just walked right in during my interview and started talking over the interview with no mic and walked out. A year later, me and her were doing an interview on her same radio station and I was the guest on her show. I spit my verse “Chiraq” for her. She said “you got the bars, just perform ’em.” I spit the whole verse again and perform it this time. She told me “Yeah, you got it. That’s it, keep doing what you doing. You got it.”

AllHipHop: What can we expect next from you?

Vigilante: I just started working with a new director named Q, she has a new show coming out called Substance Abuse. I’m definitely going to be the lead character on that series as well. Shoutout to Q, shot out to Substance Abuse. We’re going to be continuing to tour the state play Go back and Get God with me, Dondria, and the rest of the cast. I recommend y’all getting ticket relay, it’s going to sell out in every single city. I guarantee it. I’m in the process of renewing my shoe deal with MLO Shoes, so definitely go tap in with them. YOD cards as well. follow me @Vigilantelom to see everything I have coming up!

Black Twitter Worried About Elon Musk’s Takeover Of The Platform

Elon Musk bought Twitter for approximately $44 billion, raising questions about the future of the social media platform.

Black Twitter users were among the many people wondering how the deal will affect their online experience. Elon Musk’s purchase makes Twitter a privately held company, which creates a shift in the dynamics of one of social media’s biggest platforms.

“Free speech is the bedrock of a functioning democracy, and Twitter is the digital town square where matters vital to the future of humanity are debated,” Elon Musk said in a press release. “I also want to make Twitter better than ever by enhancing the product with new features, making the algorithms open source to increase trust, defeating the spam bots, and authenticating all humans.”

He added, “Twitter has tremendous potential – I look forward to working with the company and the community of users to unlock it.”

Elon Musk’s takeover made some Black Twitter users consider leaving the platform with hopes that an alternative would emerge. Others hoped the billionaire wouldn’t enact any drastic changes.

One thing is certain: Twitter stockholders are cashing out in the deal. Its shareholders will be receiving $54.20 for each share of common stock.

“The Twitter Board conducted a thoughtful and comprehensive process to assess Elon’s proposal with a deliberate focus on value, certainty, and financing,” Twitter’s Independent Board Chair Bret Taylor said. “The proposed transaction will deliver a substantial cash premium, and we believe it is the best path forward for Twitter’s stockholders.”

Amid all of the uncertainty, Black Twitter still had plenty of jokes and hot takes about Elon Musk’s social media maneuvering. Like any big news story, the mix of commentary and memes was on full display.

Check out some of the reactions to Elon Musk buying Twitter below.

Kylie Jenner Claims Blac Chyna Slashed Tyga With Knife

Kylie Jenner testified about Blac Chyna’s alleged violence in a civil trial involving the Kardashians.

According to TMZ, Kylie Jenner said Tyga once told her Blac Chyna attacked him with a knife. The slashing allegedly left Tyga with a six-inch scar on his arm.

Tyga also informed the socialite about Blac Chyna’s drug and alcohol abuse, which led to the knife attack. Kylie Jenner relayed the info to her brother Rob Kardashian when he was dating Blac Chyna.

“I felt it was my duty to express my concerns, but ultimately it was up to him,” she reportedly explained in court.

Blac Chyna is suing the Kardashians for $100 million over the cancellation of her reality show Rob & Chyna. The TV series aired for one season in 2016.

She’s accused Kris Jenner, Kim Kardashian, Khloe Kardashian and Kylie Jenner of defamation, claiming they plotted to get her show canceled. The Kardashian family’s lawyer Michael G. Rhodes argued the E! Network simply canned the show because Blac Chyna and Rob Kardashians’ relationship ended.

Last week, Kris Jenner revealed Tyga’s allegations about Blac Chyna during her own testimony in the civil case. The matriarch of the Kardashian family also accused Blac Chyna of threatening to kill Kylie Jenner in the past.

Gucci Mane’s Career Origins To Be Explored In Sign Ya Self Documentary

Production has been completed on a new documentary about Gucci Mane and his old group S.Y.S.

Filmmakers announced a two-part documentary titled Southumentary, which looks back at the beginning of Gucci Mane’s career. The film utilizes two decades of never-before-seen footage to tell the story of S.Y.S. a.k.a. Sign Ya Self.

Producers describe Southumentary as “an intimate and revealing portrait of rap star Gucci Mane’s formative days with S.Y.S. and their quest for fame and fortune in the competitive music industry as they hustled in the rough streets of Eastside Atlanta, Georgia during the early 2000s.” Emmy-winning cinematographer Ben Mesker shot interviews for the documentary.

“This film contains the humble beginnings of one of the biggest entertainers in the world,” the documentary’s producer Raymond Forchion said in a press release. “We are excited to bring this entertaining and passionate piece of underground Hip Hop story with tons of unseen footage and unheard music to the world.”

Atlanta’s H.B. and Mojo formed Sign Ya Self Records in 2002. The S.Y.S. group included Gucci Mane, 4Tre, Bolo, Cold Blooded Da Don and honorary member South Boy, who directed the upcoming documentary.

Southumentary does not have a release date. A platform for the film hasn’t been determined.

Antonio Brown Drops New Hip-Hop Album “Paradigm” After Packed Listening Session At Lemonnade

Antonio Brown made a name for himself as a wide receiver in the NFL, and now he is bringing that same energy into music and cannabis.

One day prior to every smoker’s favorite holiday, 4/20, AB took over Lemonnade Van Nuys to host an exclusive listening party for his debut album Paradigm and to celebrate the release of his new strain AB Biscotti (in partnership with JUUG).

Anyone who has been to Lemonnade knows this is not a regular dispensary. Created by hip-hop mogul Steve Lobel, the space serves as a one-stop-shop: a full-service dispensary, a hip-hop museum with endless memorabilia, a grow facility you can see threw the windows, and even a private studio for artists to record in privacy.

With DJ Carisma on the turntables, Antonio Brown drew an influx of fans who were able to get photos, bobbleheads, jerseys, football helmets, CDs, and pictures signed.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hMv9G43Yc70

Steve Lobel said, “To have a football player that wasn’t scared to come to a dispensary, had his own strain and publicly publicized it and promoted it, was great. He’s gonna go back to the NFL, and he’s had a great career, he’s a great rapper. A lot of athletes try to rap, and they’re not great at rapping. Like Damian Lillard is a great athlete and a great rapper. AB had his album come out that day, we rushed to make CDs which was a great idea.”

He added, “It’s never been done before where someone has an album release and a strain drop on the same day at a dispensary, right?”

Celebrity activations are nothing new at Lemonnade Van Nuys, where everyone from Dave East, Benny The Butcher, Conway The Machine, Krayzie Bone, OhGeesy, and India Love hosted their events.

6ix9ine Gives Away $20,000 To Family, Despite Telling A Judge He Is Still In A “Hole”

In an early morning act of kindness, rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine filmed himself giving away $20,00 to a Latino family selling flowers on the side of the road.

The artist says he was going to waste the money the night before at the club, but while on his way to the airport decided to be a blessing.

He posted it on his social media to show the world his generosity. The video, posted on Sunday morning around 5:00 a.m., shows him on his way to catch his flight.

6ix9ine captions the Instagram post, “I was going to spend 20,000 last night in the club but I didn’t get to do so, but I spent it on something better LET’S GET BACK TO IT.”

“IF YOU KNOW ME, I BEEN DOING THIS AND ITS NEVER GONNA STOP,” he continued to write in all caps, sharing a glimpse into why he did what he did. “I WOKE UP TODAY FEELING GREAT. THE LITTLE THINGS IN LIFE MATTER MORE THEN EVER NOW.”

6ix9ine also shared that he tried “to give at least $50,000 away to someone random for people in need.”

https://www.instagram.com/p/CcvyxKXFrqM/

This money is believed to be real, unlike the $2 million he was flaunting on the ‘gram.

According to AllHipHop, the artist confessed in an interview, that money was fake. I ain’t got it right now,” 6ix9ine admitted during a recent interview. “That was prop money.”

6ix9ine even told a judge last week that he was still “digging his life” out of a hole due to outstanding lawsuits and possible restitution.

The recent good act comes a week after he went viral with an appearance on a podcast with Wack 100, DJ Akademiks, and Hassan Campbell.

Since then, AllHipHop.com reports that Campbell has accused the rainbow haired drama magnet of being an “alphabet boy” and that he is still gang-affiliated.

As reported by AllHipHop.com, 50 Cent, whose real name is Curtis Jackson, has been making noise lately, reviving a beef with rapper and reality star Benzino.

Over the weekend, he was put on blast by Ray Dog after he befriended Coy Lerai, the daughter of the Boston native. In a gang load of tweets,

Benzino alleged the rapper was being sued for the BMF trademark, improperly used in concert with his hit STARZ series.

Regardless of what Benzino might assert, 50 continues to juggle it all— beef, bags, and now a big ole tour— with a smile. #ProvingHowQueensGetTheMoney

Mick Jagger Says Machine Gun Kelly Is Keeping Rock Alive

Mick Jagger has named Yungblud and Machine Gun Kelly as two new rockers keeping the genre alive.

In an interview with Swedish radio station P4, the Rolling Stones frontman said he had hope for contemporary rock as the two stars are breathing new life into the genre.

“In rock music you need energy, and there have not been a lot of new rock singers around. Now there are a few,” Mick Jagger explained. “You have Yungblud and Machine Gun Kelly. That kind of post-punk vibe makes me think there is still a bit of life in rock and roll.”

Mick Jagger also dismissed rumors that his forthcoming tour with the Rolling Stones would be his last.

“I am not planning it to be the last tour. I love being on tour. I don’t think I would do it if I did not enjoy it,” he said. “I enjoy going out there on stage and doing my stuff. That is what I do. I want everyone to enjoy themselves and forget the troubles in their lives for a couple of hours and just chill out and have a great afternoon and evening.”

The band’s Sixty tour is scheduled to take place in Europe across June and July.

Ice-T Calls Man Who Taunted Mike Tyson A “Clown Ass”

Ice-T has voiced support for Mike Tyson after the former professional boxer punched a fellow passenger on an airplane last week.

In video footage obtained by TMZ, Mike Tyson was seen leaning over the back of his seat and punching the man in a “flurry of blows” while waiting on a flight scheduled to depart from San Francisco International Airport to Florida.

Tyson’s representatives claimed the man, Melvin Townsend III, was acting “aggressive” towards him prior to the altercation, and last week.

Ice-T offered up his own take, calling Townsend a “clown ass” who “forgot he was NOT behind his keyboard” when he taunted Mike Tyson.

He complained, “The problem is nowadays, MFs think they WON’T get punched in the face…”

In a follow-up tweet, he continued, “If dumbfucks said the type of s### they say to me on HERE face to face… I know I’d be in prison.”

Representatives for the airline and the San Francisco Police Department have not yet commented on the incident.

Old Young Jack Harlow And Lil Kim “Picture” Trends Instantly

Jack Harlow is one of the biggest and brightest names in Hip-Hop. But it wasn’t always the case! At some point he was a young upstart and fan of the culture and then grew into it.

That said, a lot of people have some jokes for him today. Because of the Twitter algorithm, I thought it was something that was real. Because a picture with Lil Kim and a little boy is pretty cool, right? And then I saw the picture, in my periphery. And then, I paid attention.

After that I had to laugh!. Look at this picture!

At first glance it looks like it could be just a kid with Lil Kim as a youngster, but on further analysis it looks like a girl. The funny thing is, it could be Jack Harlow because most of us had goofy young pictures when we were kids. But that ain’t DJ Drama’s artist!

And then the comments come. And they are hilarious.

By the way, somewhere in life these other people, including the little girl with Kim, ARE REAL PEOPLE!

Regardless it doesn’t matter if it is or is not Jack Harlow, but it would be kind of funny if it was him.

Like they say: the Internet is undefeated!

Lil Jay Drops “Bars Of Clout 3” – Trends Instantly

Lil Jay just got out of jail a few days ago literally and he’s already shaking things up! Some of that is related to his shade of Lil Von and his denial of being gay (a rumor I did not bother to cover). But he’s back with the bars! Chiraq Wolverine drops “Bars of Clout 3,” which is in the lineage of his original one. The CloutLord is back! The game was meant to be shaken up!

$windlaaa & Lit Yoshi Are In It For The “Money” In Latest Visual

Broward County artist $windlaaa returns to set the groove in his new single, “Money, featuring Baton Rouge native Lit Yoshi.

Lit Yoshi loved the hook and jumped on the song immediately. Unfortunately, he was arrested the very next day and was unavailable to shoot the video. Nevertheless,
$windlaaa acknowledges Yoshi in the video with a set in orange jumpsuits and dancers repping Free Lit Yoshi T- Shirts.

“Money” is subtly melodic with a catchy dance hook. The ShotByJolo-directed video sees $windlaaa boogieing with dancers in the background. “Money” is the latest glimpse from $windlaaa’s upcoming project, “Late Night Thoughts” which features Trapland Pat and FL Dusa and more in addition to Lit Yoshi.

In a recent phone call with Lit Yoshi, the rapper stated. “Thank you for the support. I am innocent, Tune into “Money,” and I’ll be coming home soon.”

DJ Akademiks Teases Reunion With Joe Budden

At one point, DJ Akademiks, Joe Budden, and Nadeska Alexis led the most-talked-about Hip Hop show on the planet. Clips from Everday Struggle – like infamous interviews with Vic Mensa and Migos – regularly went viral on social media.

Rapper-turned-podcaster Joe Budden left Everyday Struggle in 2017. Complex’s morning talk show then aired with other co-hosts, such as Wayno, sitting across from DJ Akademiks until the program came to an end in December 2021.

After some reshuffling of the co-hosts on his own self-titled podcast, Joe Budden continued to discuss Hip Hop culture on a bi-weekly schedule. In addition, Akademiks went on to launch the Off The Record podcast.

It appears former co-workers DJ Akademiks and Joe Budden recently got back together to create new content. On Sunday, Ak tweeted, “Reunited @JoeBudden 🥰🥰🥰. Tune into our both podcasts in the next week or so 🦂🦂🦂.”

A brief video snippet also accompanied Akademiks’s weekend Twitter post. The footage featured the online media personality and retired emcee Joe Budden talking face-to-face with several red cups placed on a table.

Both DJ Akademiks and Joe Budden have become somewhat controversial figures in contemporary Hip Hop. The two outspoken commentators’ respective hot takes about the culture are often met with passionate support and fervent opposition.

The Joe Budden Podcast launched in 2015 with Budden, Marisa Mendez, and Rory Farrell. Mendez left in 2016. Jamil “Mal” Clay later joined the show. Both Rory and Mal parted ways with JBP last year before being replaced by Ice and Ish.

DJ Akademiks’s Off The Record began streaming on Spotify in 2021. The digital series recently presented interviews with NLE Choppa, Nardo Wick, 2 Chainz, Roddy Ricch, Fivio Foreign, Flo Milli, Latto, 6ix9ine, Bobby Shmurda, and more.

Calboy Talks Clashing With Meek Mill Over “Chariot” Video

Calvin “Calboy” Woods has been very open about his contractual disputes with RCA Records and Polo Grounds Music. Apparently, the “Envy Me” rapper also had issues with Meek Mill’s Dream Chasers company.

During an interview with VladTV, Calboy discussed his managerial relationship with Meek Mill. The 23-year-old Chicago native offered his side of the story which included comments about his “Chariot” single featuring Meek Mill, Lil Durk, and Young Thug.

“I feel like the whole ‘Chariot’ video situation, all like, ‘We do this, we do that.’ Mind you, ‘Chariot’ is almost [my] second-biggest record after ‘Envy Me’ – debatable. But that’s one of them joints,” said Calboy.

He continued, “At that time, that was my momentum, that was my follow-up. And I appreciated Meek for that. I appreciated Thug. I just texted Thug like three days ago. I just chopped it up with Thug, and I just chopped it up with Durk. I appreciated all that.”

According to Calboy, “Chariot” did not receive the marketing push he expected. The Wildboy EP creator claimed Meek Mill was not on board with his portrayal in the song’s music video because it would supposedly tarnish the Philadelphia-raised rap star’s brand in some way.

“In the label’s view, it’s like, ‘Yo, your manager’s not gonna play? They’re slowing your momentum down?’ And they really stood on that, and I blamed [Meek Mill] for that. So I fired them,” recalled Calboy.

The 2020 XXL Freshman added, “I was like, ‘Let’s reshoot it, let’s do this, let’s do that.’ But it was always, ‘I’m busy. I’m gonna get up with it, I’m gonna figure it out.’ By that time, the momentum of that song was down, like it ain’t even gonna hit them with the bang no more.”

“Chariot” did manage to earn Gold certification from the RIAA in September 2020. Calboy’s breakout single “Envy Me” is currently certified 4x-Platinum. “Envy Me” climbed to #31 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 chart. 2019’s Wildboy project peaked at #30 on the Billboard 200 and reached Gold status in April 2020.

Omeretta The Great Signs With 300 Entertainment’s Sparta Distribution

Earlier this year, Omeretta The Great went viral for her “Sorry Not Sorry” single. The Hip Hop newcomer later teamed up with fellow Georgia native Latto for a remix to the song.

With all the buzz surrounding “Sorry Not Sorry,” it comes as no surprise that companies wanted to ink deals with Omeretta. Sparta Distribution, the independent digital distribution arm of 300 Entertainment, signed the Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta alumna.

“The teams at Sparta Distribution and 300 Entertainment and, of course, Kevin Liles know the culture better than anybody,” says Omeretta The Great. “They are the perfect partners for me, and I’m excited to begin this next chapter together. I can’t wait for you to hear what we’ve got coming.”

“Sorry Not Sorry” and “Ba Ba” will serve as the lead singles for Omeretta The Great’s upcoming debut EP. That project will be released via TSO Music Group/Sparta Distribution.

“Sparta is extremely excited and incredibly proud to announce our debut signee, Atlanta’s own Omeretta The Great,” offers Amir Abbassy, Head of Sparta Distribution.

Omeretta’s managers Max Gousse and Monica Payne of Artistry Group, state, “We felt Sparta was the best partner as they were aggressive about building on the recent momentum and believed in the vision.”

Raised in Atlanta’s Zone 3 District, Omeretta The Great began rapping as a pre-teen. She names Lil Wayne, Rihanna, and Rico Nasty as some of her musical influences. OTG previously released Black Magic: A Dose of Reality in 2016 and Welcome to the Jungle in 2019.

First Weeks Sales Projections For Pusha T’s ‘It’s Almost Dry’ Are In

Virginia-bred rapper Pusha T dropped off his fourth studio LP, It’s Almost Dry, on Friday, April 22. According to industry insiders, Pusha is on pace to possibly score his first #1 album on the Billboard 200 rankings

HitsDailyDouble projects It’s Almost Dry to collect 50,000-55,000 first-week units. That total could be enough to hold off Morgan Wallen’s Dangerous: The Double Album for the Billboard 200’s pole position.

If It’s Almost Dry is able to top the Billboard 200, the project would be Pusha T’s first Number One on that chart. My Name Is My Name peaked at #4 in 2013 with 74,000 copies sold in its opening week.

2015’s King Push – Darkest Before Dawn: The Prelude topped off at #20. The Grammy-nominated Daytona managed to give Pusha T his highest solo chart entry to date. Daytona debuted at #3 in 2018 with 77,000 units.

King Push – Darkest Before Dawn: The Prelude also spent one week at #1 on the Top Rap Albums chart. My Name Is My Name and Daytona only made it to #2 on that Billboard weekly tally. It’s Almost Dry will likely be the #1 rap album next week.

Pusha T promoted It’s Almost Dry to a mainstream audience. The G.O.O.D. Music/Def Jam recording artist performed on both CBS’s The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and NBC’s The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.

It’s Almost Dry features guest appearances by Kanye West, Jay-Z, Pharrell Williams, Nigo, Malice, Lil Uzi Vert, Kid Cudi, Don Toliver, and Labrinth. Superproducers Pharrell Williams and Kanye West provided most of the album’s production.

Tyler, The Creator’s ‘Call Me If You Get Lost’ Returns To No. 1

Call Me If You Get Lost is once again the top-selling album in America by jumping from #120 to #1. Tyler, The Creator’s sixth studio LP originally led the Billboard 200 for one week in 2021.

The project climbed back to No. 1 this week. Call Me If You Get Lost collected an additional 59,000 units in the tracking period ending April 21. 51,000 units came from traditional album sales, mostly vinyl.

In fact, Call Me If You Get Lost‘s 49,500 vinyl sales are said to be the largest sales week for a Hip Hop vinyl album since Luminate (formerly MRC Data) began tracking music sales in 1991. This also marks the ninth-largest sales week for a vinyl album since that year.

Kid Cudi’s Man on the Moon III: The Chosen previously held the Hip Hop vinyl record. Last December, the 2020 release sold 41,500 vinyl copies in one week. Taylor Swift’s Red (Taylor’s Version) holds the all-time record with 114,000 vinyl units sold in November 2021.

Tyler, The Creator won his second Best Rap Album trophy at the 64th Annual Grammy Awards in April. The Odd Future founder previously took home the same honor for 2019’s IGOR. In addition to winning the Grammy, Call Me If You Get Lost is also certified Gold by the RIAA.

While Call Me If You Get Lost tops the latest Billboard 200, the most recent album rankings also feature other high-profile Hip Hop acts. Lil Durk’s 7220 slipped two spots to #3. Drake’s Certified Lover Boy remained at #6.

Doja Cat’s Planet Her continues to remain in the Billboard 200’s Top 10 region. That project climbed one spot to #7. Gunna’s DS4Ever went up three positions to #9. Lil Baby’s 2020 album, My Turn, rose three slots to #10.

Chopper From MTVs “Making The Band” Extradited To Vegas On Sex-Trafficking Charges

Chopper, one of the former stars of MTV’s Making The Band was arrested in an undercover sex-trafficking sting and is now facing pimping charges.

According to TMZ, Chopper is being extradited to Las Vegas to face sex trafficking charges after being arrested in Maryland earlier this month.

Detectives from Nevada’s vice squad say Chopper’s social media displayed evidence of a potential sex-trafficking operation, prompting them to launch an investigation. Cops searched his Instagram account and found posts referring pimping and prostitution. They reference one image of Chopper on a plane with the caption “Sending em,” alongside a money bag and crown emoji.

Cops Contacted Chopper On Instagram

They claim legal docs show he was busted after being contacted by an undercover vice detective who posed as a Sin City sex worker. The Nevada cop privately messaged the rapper on Instagram, offering him the chance to make some money through prostitution.

The undercover cop states Chopper bragged to police during phone calls. He spoke of frequently traveling across the country, where he has seven homes, including one in Vegas. The former TV star also warned the detective that Sin City was no longer a safe place to operate due to law enforcement crackdowns.

Nonetheless, the cops claim after passing a phone interview Chopper told them he would bring them on his “team” and make them part of his “stable.”

They claim Chopper then switched his attitude, becoming aggressive during phone conversations. He began to boss them about, directing them to pack and fly to Charlotte, N.C. to join his “stable.”

However, cops say they stalled Chopper telling him they were scared to leave, but he got angry. After attempting to force them to meet him, he demanded a $2,000 fee.

Nevada police claim to have enough evidence to arrest and charge Chopper with felony sex trafficking.
