21 Savage & Chime’s Second Financial Literacy Campaign To Award $100,000 in Scholarships

21 Savage and his “Leading By Example” Foundation is partnering with Chime for the second year of his “Bank Account Financial Literacy Campaign”.

The campaign aims to teach kids in grades 9-12 the importance of financial literacy and help them earn scholarships.

Once all six courses are complete, candidates can apply to win one of 100 “Bank Account Program” scholarships worth $1,000, awarded by Chime and 21 Savage.

21 Savage shared a campaign ad explaining the importance of financial literacy.

Chime says they have returned to the program with 21 Savage “to support communities and help you secure the bag. But this time, we’re taking the Bank Account campaign back to where it all started—Atlanta.”

21 Is Refurbishing A Basketball Court In Atlanta

Additionally, the campaign has linked with an Atlanta artist to refurbish a local basketball court.

“We believe financial literacy can empower communities for generations to come. With that in mind, we’ve teamed up with muralist George Baker to turn an Atlanta basketball court into a vibrant reminder of what a little positive change can bring.”

Earlier this month, 21 Savage shared some images from the basketball court in Atlanta’s Old Fourth Ward.

Furthermore, the Atlanta rapper may continue his ventures in youth empowerment. He took to Twitter last month to announce, “I want to build a school !”

However, fans of the “Bank Account” rapper need not fear as 21 Savage is still releasing music. He features on “Outlawz” with Rick Ross and Jazmine Sullivan, listen to it below.

RZA & Alex Tse’s Production Company Developing ‘Ghost Dog’ TV Series

RZA and Wu-Tang: An American Saga co-creator Alex Tse have formed a new production company.

According to Deadline, the two launched Xen Diagram Media with multiple shows in the works. The company’s initial projects include a television adaptation of Jim Jarmusch’s movie Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai.

RZA was a cast member in Ghost Dog: The Way of the Samurai, which starred Forest Whitaker. The Wu-Tang Clan mastermind also wrote the film’s score and produced its soundtrack.

Xen Diagram Media’s first project will be a one-hour drama titled Kid Punchy. RZA is directing the series and serving as one of its executive producers.

“As a huge Hip Hop head growing up, Wu-Tang resonated with me in particular, not only as a Chinese American, but as a geek because the music referenced kung fu movies, comic books, stuff that I was into,” Tse said. “Wu combined geek culture and street culture and made it all cool, promoting an accessibility that created one of the most diverse fan bases in the world. With Xen Diagram Media, RZA and I aim to do the same through story.”

RZA added, “With the two of us coming from very different backgrounds — ethnically, economically, professionally — we believe we offer a unique, yet inclusive, perspective that we’re excited to share with the world.”

The acclaimed producer and Tse began working together on Wu-Tang: An America Saga, which debuted in 2019. Their show was recently picked up for a third and final season by Hulu.

Independent Artist Baybe Jay is Quickly Heating His Career Up in Miami

Baybe Jay grew up in Miami, Florida where he was surrounded by many different cultures which influenced his music. This year in September of 2021 he reached number five on the iTunes Hip-Hop Album chart behind two of the biggest drops of the year, Drake’s Certified Lover Boy and Kanye’s Donda with his project Stewart Szn. On this album, Baybe Jay taps into his Latin roots and provides a sense of involvement in how it is growing up in Miami culture.

With songs such as “Can’t Stand Em” and “Sabrosa” the Latin influence can be heard through the beat, verses, along with hooks. Not only does he connect with his Latin side but also has different genres on the album with “Pretty Girls” being more on the pop side and “Where Were You?” leaning more towards RnB. Baybe Jay has shown his skills as an artist off of this album by importing many different styles onto one project while connecting with people’s variety of emotions.

Baybe Jay’s love for music started at ten years old recording himself on a computer microphone but eventually took it more seriously as he grew up. Shortly after dropping Stewart Szn Baybe Jay appeared on “EVTV” making his television debut which is a known Latin American channel with over one million followers on Instagram as well as appearing on “103.5 The Beat Miami”, a popular radio station in Miami home of the “Breakfast Club” and “IHeartRadio”. Not only did he make his first television appearance and a major radio appearance, he was also shown some love from the catcher for the Miami Marlins Jorge Alfaro.

Influenced by Drake, Daddy Yankee, and Big Sean you can only imagine how it must have felt when Baybe Jay’s Stewart Szn was in the top five near Drake’s Certified Lover Boy. Baybe Jay’s versatility in styles is what makes him special, let alone his strong punchlines and delivery with bars such as “I don’t want them, other girls I pass them like I’m Tom Brady ” on his song “Rich”, he is able to explore other areas of music and do it well. Hoping to drop another project in 2022 be on the lookout because he may go number one next time on the iTunes Hip-Hop Album chart.

Artist Avrii Shares a Look into His Journey

Avrii Castle is a fast-rising songwriter and producer in the Miami music scene. He is swiftly announcing his presence in the industry with his creative blend of R&B and pop that is thrilling fans across the country. Avrii has certainly mastered the art of creating unique and refreshing sounds that transcend generational boundaries. His influence spans different musicians from Usher to Al Jarreau, Brian Mcknight to The Weeknd, Steve Wonder to Chris Brown.

A talented artist, Avrii has effectively borrowed from all these iconic artists’ styles and sounds to make something different and special for the industry. It’s an old yet new sound unique to him that easily resonates with many of his fans.

Avrii was born to Cuban parents in Miami and was raised in a musical family. Everyone in his family had an eye for music across many genres. This introduced the young Avrii to music at a young age, which later grew to be a passion. After high school, Avrii moved to Sydney, Australia, to further develop his love and passion for music. But after two years in one of Australia’s vibrant cities, Avrii returned to the States, settling on the west coast, LA, and later Miami, where he continues to pursue his musical journey.

Having grown up surrounded by different rhythms and sounds, finding his voice and sound proved to be a major challenge for him. Moving to Los Angeles made it even more challenging for him as the environment gave him more diverse music genres to listen to. This only widened the puzzle in trying to create an original sound. But the vibrant and advanced LA music industry gave him a platform to hone his skills as a songwriter and producer, making the entire journey an interesting and fulfilling one.

On the right path to success, Avrii believes inconsistency to be a key factor in attracting success. Music is all he has known as a career, and he understands the importance of consistency in breaking into the mainstream. He points out that some aspiring artists lack the zeal and determination to pull through the many challenges in their music careers and end up giving up far too easily on their goals.

To overcome this, Avrii advises embracing consistency in pursuing your passion. You have to stick to it and do it like it’s your last day on earth. Challenges are meant to mold you into a better person, so keep the focus on your dreams.

Success is a journey, and Avrii believes he has what it takes to soldier on to greater heights. He sees himself and his team traveling around the world, creating more memories and stories to tell. He wants his fans to experience more of his music and fashion sense. Avrii is also looking to use his success to motivate other aspiring artists and help them find their success. His goal is to make an impact during his lifetime and be remembered for generations to come.

Antonio Brown’s Ex-Chef Claims He’s Got A Fake COVID Card

An ex-chef for NFL star Antonio Brown claims he has a fake COVID card.

NBC Sports is reporting that the Bucs receiver — who is “long overdue to do something stupid” — disclosed his unvaxxed status to Steven Ruiz, the ex-chef in question. Ruiz claims that Antonio Brown looked for — and ultimately secured — the bogus card in question.

“Ruiz has text messages from early July that purport to reflect an effort by Brown through his girlfriend, Cydney Moreau, to secure fake vaccination cards for $500,” reports the outlet. “Ruiz said he wasn’t able to find a fake vaccination card, and that Brown showed Ruiz fake vaccination cards Brown had purchased a few weeks later. Ruiz claims he saw the fake vaccination cards just days before the start of Buccaneers training camp.”

Now, it bears noting that Antonio Brown tested positive for COVID during the season, and was out for 10 days total due to his diagnosis.

However, it’s also worth noting that Ruiz currently has a suit against Brown, in the amount of $10,000. Ruiz also hired a famed “Hollywood fixer” to get the money for him “in exchange for keeping quiet,” reports the outlet.

So, it’s very likely that this is all an extortion attempt by the former chef for Antonio Brown to get some money, and not a legitimate complaint. Or, it could be a legitimate complaint. Or, it could be both. Two things can be true at the same time, for sure.

Either way, it’s extremely messy.

Man Shot Near Young Dolph Memorial, 3 People Detained

More violence erupted in Memphis as a man was shot near Young Dolph’s memorial on Thursday.

A memorial for the late rapper was set up at Makeda’s Homemade Butter Cookies, where he was shot and killed on Wednesday. While people were gathered outside paying tribute to Young Dolph, a drive-by shooting happened at a Family Dollar store next to the shop.

According to multiple reports, three people were detained in connection to the latest shooting. The victim was taken to the hospital and is in non-critical condition.

Tommy Wright III, a veteran rapper from Memphis, was at the Young Dolph memorial when the shooting occurred. He described what happened to a local CBS affiliate.

“We were paying our respects,” he said. “About 30 or 40 people were placing flowers, signing the wall, and then a car drove by and started shooting.”

Wright continued, “Everybody, man, just scattered and hit the ground. They’ve blocked off the whole scene, it’s become another crime scene all over again.”

Makeda’s Homemade Butter Cookies wasn’t open on Thursday following Young Dolph’s death. Memphis Police Department Major Stephen Roach said cops would no longer allow crowds to gather at the site.

Young Dolph, whose real name was Adolph Robert Thornton Jr., was 36 years old. He’s survived by two children.

Travis Scott, Drake & More Face $2 Billion Lawsuit For Astroworld Tragedy

The lawsuits against Travis Scott keep piling up in wake of the Astroworld Festival tragedy.

Attorney Thomas J. Henry sued Travis Scott, Drake and multiple companies for $2 billion on behalf of 282 victims. Henry noted an additional 120 victims reached out to his law firm to pursue legal action over the deadly event.

“The defendants stood to make an exorbitant amount of money off of this event, and they still chose to cut corners, cut costs and put attendees at risk,” Henry said in a press release. “My clients want to ensure the defendants are held responsible for their actions, and they want to send the message to all performers, event organizers and promoters that what happened at Astroworld cannot happen again.”

Apple Music, Live Nation and NRG Stadium were also named as defendants. Apple livestreamed the Astroworld Festival, which was promoted by Live Nation and held at NRG Stadium.

Travis Scott and others were already facing a $750 million lawsuit filed by attorney Tony Buzbee, who’s representing 125 clients of his own. Buzbee’s clients include the family of Axel Acosta, who died at the event.

10 people died and hundreds more were injured in a crowd surge at Travis Scott’s Astroworld Festival. The youngest victim was a nine-year-old boy named Ezra Blount, who passed away after being in a medically induced coma for more than a week.

Young Dolph Killed By Two Suspects Driving A Mercedes-Benz

The men who killed Young Dolph may be caught sooner than people think. Thanks to operational surveillance cameras around the area, authorities are looking to identify the gunmen.

According to Fox 13, the local news affiliate, stills show the two men who shot the rap star after he purchased some snacks from Makeda’s Butter Cookies.

Young Dolph Suspects

While the officers have not fully identified the murderers, the shop owner, Maurice Hill, shared that his employees were eyewitnesses.

Dolph, whose real name is Adolph Robert Thornton Jr., was no stranger to Makeda’s. Just a week prior, the rapper promoted the bakery on his social media.

The photos released by police shows one of the suspects had a firearm that resembled a semi-automatic rifle. The other person had a handgun in his possession and aimed it toward the shop.

Videos and images from the crime scene showed a window shattered from the impact of bullets.

Footage also showed Young Dolph’s camouflage customized Corvette was parked in the parking lot for hours after his tragic demise.

No one other than the “Drip Like Dis” rapper was injured or killed.

Law enforcement released a statement saying, “Our hearts go out to the Thornton family and all who were affected by this horrific act of violence.”

The community is mourning his life. A makeshift memorial complete with stuffed animals, flowers, candles, and balloons remains outside the cookie shop.

The police are still working to identify, charge and arrest the men that killed him.

50 Cent Producing ‘BMF’ Documentary Series For Starz

Starz has greenlighted another show produced by 50 Cent.

According to Deadline, the G-Unit boss is producing a documentary series about the Black Mafia Family for Starz. The docuseries serves as a companion piece to 50 Cent’s scripted drama BMF, which premiered on the network in September.

“The docuseries will offer an inside look at different perspectives from all of those involved, BMF…. Blowing Money Fast,” 50 Cent said.

50 Cent’s documentary series will explore Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory and Terry “Southwest T” Flenory’s organization over the course of eight episodes. G-Unit Film and Television is producing the show alongside Alex Gibney’s Jigsaw Productions.

“The success of BMF demonstrates a continued rise in fan demand and interest in the story of the Flenory Brothers,” Starz President and CEO Jeffrey Hirsch said. “We’re excited to dive deeper into the world of Black Mafia Family in this new project with Curtis, Shan [Nicholson] and the teams at G-Unit and Jigsaw.”

50 Cent’s docuseries joins an already extensive lineup of shows he’s produced for Starz. He’s built a television empire at the network with hits such as Power, its multiple spin-offs and BMF.

The scripted BMF show concludes its first season on November 21. Starz has already renewed the crime drama for a second season.

Police Arrest Gang Members Over Brazen Shootout Near Rula Z Listening Party

NYPD Gang Squad might be the new incarnation of it’s 1990s Hip-Hop police. But that might be a good thing.

Because of the unit’s attention to details on social media and rap music’s overlap with gang culture, they have been able to identify two suspects in a shoot-out on Tuesday in Manhattan.

According to the New York Daily News, the alleged shooters are assumed to be gang members and in attendance at the “We on Tour Tuesday” concert featuring Queens rapper Rula Z.

As predicted by law enforcement who followed the Twitter fingers and ramblings on social media, the Untouchable Gorilla Stone Nation and the Train to Blow gang joined others in reckless gunplay outside W. 38th St. studio (located near Sixth Ave.) around 10:45 pm Tuesday night.

Two of the three participants injured during the melee have been arrested and charged for their hand in the chaos.

The news outlet even reports that their reporters have reviewed video footage of how the shooting started.

Shown are four men putting stuff inside of a parked silver Altima not far from the studio. Then surveillance shows two other men getting out of a dark sedan that was double-parked on the same street.

One of the men from the dark sedan started shooting at the four.

There were about 50 people inside of the concert. However, one witness, who saw one of the men, told the Daily News what she saw, saying, “He was running down the street towards Sixth. He was saying, he was shot. ‘I’m shot, I’m shot!’”

She may have seen one of the suspects from the dark sedan.

According to police, one of the men who has been arrested is a 27-year-old who is seen in the footage as the person who took the first shots (identified by a red hoodie) and a second 24-year-old who was shot in the right side of the chest.

Hip Hop purists consider Kendrick Lamar a remnant of classic lyricism and emceeing. He is a thoughtful rapper that balances hood narratives with beautifully constructed rhyme masterpieces.

Three of his four studio albums have been listed in Rolling Stone’s 500 Greatest Albums of All Time (2020). K-Dot has made history winning the Pulitzer Prize for music, making and becoming the first non-classical or jazz artist to win the prestigious prize. Even with all that, this West Coast emcee pays respect to the legacy artists that have come before him 💯

Fun fact: He was named after legendary R&B singer/songwriter Eddie Kendricks. No wonder he is so amazing.

Myles Truitt Talks Gun Safety On The Set Of 50 Cent’s ‘BMF’ Series

The use of firearms on set became a major topic in Hollywood following the tragic death of Rust cinematographer Halyna Hutchins. Actor Alec Baldwin accidentally shot and killed Hutchins while filming the movie.

Violence is part of the storytelling for the Starz network’s BMF series. While appearing on Fox Soul’s The Mix, 19-year-old Myles Truitt spoke about learning to shoot a gun for his BMF role as Brian Mickie aka B-Mickie.

“It was really my first time. It was an experience, for sure. I had fun,” said Myles Truitt. The Mix co-host Romeo Miller then asked Truitt for his thoughts on the Rust tragedy and gun safety practices for BMF.

Truitt responded, “When it comes down to me, I always make sure the person that is in front of that barrel is comfortable and knows what’s in it. When it comes down to the safety department, I make sure he’s hands-on with me and the person. He can look down the barrel with the flashlight before the scene and afterward… I hope everyone goes through the steps and the precautions.”

BMF follows the story of the real-life Black Mafia Family, the criminal organization once headed by Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory and Terry “Southwest T” Flenory. The cast includes Demetrius “Lil Meech” Flenory, Jr. as his father Big Meech and Da’Vinchi as Southwest T.

BMF features performances by Russell Hornsby, Michole Briana White, Ajiona Alexus, Steve Harris, and Eric Kofi-Abrefa as well. In addition, Snoop Dogg, Kash Doll, La La Anthony, Wood Harris, and Serayah have recurring roles on the program.

Myles Truitt’s character is described as a “street-lifer, philosophizing stoner” with a “propensity for violence.” The cocaine-cooking B-Mickie is a day-one associate of the drug-dealing Flenory brothers.

Previously, Truitt starred as young Ronnie DeVoe in the BET mini-series The New Edition Story. Plus, the Atlanta native acted in other television series such as OWN’s Queen Sugar, CW’s Black Lightning, and FX’s Atlanta.

Viewers can also catch Myles Truitt in upcoming episodes of a popular horror series on Netflix. The teenager told The Mix, “I’m actually part of the new Stranger Things season 4, the season coming out next summer.”

The season one finale of BMF will air on Sunday, November 21. Starz already renewed the Detroit-based crime drama for a second season. Hip Hop mogul Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson is credited as an executive producer for BMF.

Lil Nas X Addresses His “Secret Love Affair” With A Married Man On ‘The Maury Show’

Montero “Lil Nas X” Hill recently teased he would be a guest on the long-running Maury daytime talk show. Lil Nas X’s sitdown with Maury Povich included the “Industry Baby” hitmaker discussing his relationship with a married father.

Yai Ariza and his wife, Ashley Davidson, were also brought on stage for the confrontation with Montero. The episode featured the typical Maury moments: lie detector tests, paternity tests, on-stage arguments, shocking reveals, and outrageous reactions.

Lil Nas X, Yai, and Ashley’s appearances on the program were uploaded to the verified The Maury Show YouTube channel. The video’s description reads:

Montero and Yai are football teammates who quickly became lovers. Montero was shocked to discover soon after that Yai was married with a child. Now, Montero is here to tell Yai’s wife, Ashley, about their secret love affair. Maury will get the answers they need. Will Montero get exactly what he wants?

The entire 21-minute Maury segment was an extension of the story told in Lil Nas X’s “Thats What I Want” official music video which centered around Montero and Yai’s relationship. The “Thats What I Want” visuals ended with a heartbroken Montero in a wedding dress left at the altar.

This week also saw GQ magazine name Lil Nas X as a 2021 Men of the Year cover star. The Grammy-winning Georgia native also took part in an on-camera interview where he spoke about his fashion history, including the much-talked-about three-piece Golden outfit at the 2021 Met Gala.
