Dave Chappelle’s Tearful Introduction To Grandmaster Flash & The Furious 5’s Scorpio

Dave Chappelle had the honor of meeting one of his legends at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony in Cleveland on Saturday (Oct. 30). Dave’s role on the night was introducing Jay-Z for his induction however, he also experienced a personal triumph offstage.

Scorpio of Grandmaster Flash & The Furious 5 shared a clip of his meeting with Dave Chapelle, who was a little starstruck.

As Scorpio attempted to introduce himself to the comedian, Chapelle responded: “Are you f###### kidding me?! Eddie Murphy used to tell me stories about you being outside of the club wearing clothes like you was from the future. My man. Oh my god. I know exactly who you are. It’s an honor, bro.

He continued, “You heard what I said to Jay. Boy, does that not apply to you? Man. It is an honor to shake your hand, brother. You have no idea, man. Kids like me…I was out there; I was listening to you. No b#######.”

Scorpio thanked Chappelle and replied, “Oh I believe you ’cause you know Hip Hop like we know Hip Hop.”

Chappelle continued, “Boy you inspire the s### out of me in a way you never he even … oh my god … I can’t believe I’m meeting you. Eddie Murphy was telling me funny stories. Bro.”

The Hip-Hop pioneer replied humbly, “I don’t want to take up your time. I just wanted to shake your hand ’cause I love you and I wanted to tell you that.”

Drake Submits “CLB” for Multiple Grammys After Dissing Awards Last Year

Drake’s “Certified Lover Boy” continues to rack up the accolades. Now, the 6 God is trying for a shot at a Grammy or two, despite dissing the awards show last year.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CTsaEi8MyXZ/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

Variety report “CLB” has been submitted for several categories at the upcoming Grammy Awards 2022. While he has entered the project in the Album of the Year category, no submission was made for Song or Record of the Year.

Drake’s chart-topping collaboration with Future and Young Thug, “Way 2 Sexy” is up for a shot at Best Rap Performance. He’s also got a song in contention for Best Melodic Rap Performance with “Girls Want Girls” featuring Lil Baby. “No Friends in the Industry” has been submitted in the Best Rap Song category, though he may be tempting fate with the song’s title!

However, those aren’t Drake’s only chance of nabbing a Grammy. Some of the songs he appeared on as an artist or writer are also vying for nominations. Notably, “Outta Time” by Bryson Tiller featuring Drake has been submitted for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, Best R&B Performance, and Best R&B Song.

Drake On The Grammys

Drake most recently dissed the Grammys last year when fellow Canadian native, The Weeknd was snubbed in the nominations.

“I think we should stop allowing ourselves to be shocked every year by the disconnect between impactful music and these awards and just accept that what once was the highest form of recognition may no longer matter to the artist that exist now and the ones that come after,” he said.

“It’s like a relative you keep expecting to fix up but they just won’t change their ways. The other day I said @theweeknd was a lock for either album or song of the year along with countless other reasonable assumptions and it just never goes that way. This is a great time for somebody to start something new that we can build up overtime and pass on to the generations to come.”

New Prison Photo of Big Meech Shared Online

50 Cent’s new drama, BMF, based on the real-life story of Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory and Terry “Southwest T” Flenory, continues its successful run on Starz. The series follows the rise and fall of the Flenory brothers and their infamous drug empire run out of Detroit.

The show’s sixth episode aired recently with two more to come before the series ends. Now, a new photo of one of BMF’s real-life characters has surfaced online.

A Twitter user with the handle @wiseguysiri posted a pic of the real Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory after apparently serving time with him behind bars. He captioned the post, “Coming in contact with “A Living Legend” had a profound on my outlook at life. Free Big Meech, until next time Homie! #bmf #bigmeech #starz #mob #mafia #gang #gangland #boss“.

50 Cent recently shared a message from Meech to his son, Demetrius “Lil Meech” Flenory Jr., who portrays his father in the film.

“Keep in touch so we can talk about the 3rd and 4th episode and whatever you out there doing all positive vibes,” he wrote. “I really love 50 for helping us make all this happen for us it’s like he the only one to sencerely [sic] come thru and put us on the 100 percent legitimate successful path and he never owed us s### but gave us ‘everything’ when almost all the sports and entertainers I’ve known most of my life never spoke up or helped us get on the path legitimacy!”

He added, “What 50 has done for us to me is ‘priceless.’”

BMF will be back for a second season after Starz renewed the series just days after the show’s premiere.

Dozens of Juice WRLD’s songs were certified platinum and gold by the RIAA on October 29. His latest achievements included three studio albums going double and triple platinum as well as several tracks going multi-platinum.

Anderson .Paak added, “I was going to shows and realized that less and less I was seeing actual performers. Where is the next generation that can play instruments? I know they’re out there – don’t sell your instruments, this label wants to hear you!”

In regards to the label’s name, APE stands for Anderson .Paak Empire. The rest comes from his imprint being on “some other s### out here in this music business jungle.”

Fans will have to wait and see who Anderson .Paak signs as his first artist, but they’ll be getting some new music from him soon. He and his Silk Sonic partner Bruno Mars are releasing a song titled “Smokin’ Out The Window” on November 5.

The track is the third single from their An Evening With Silk Sonic album. The highly anticipated LP is scheduled to drop on November 12.

Offset Explains Why Rappers Can’t Be Content Just Making Music

Offset has called on rap artists to diversify their skillset.

The new Balenciaga model urged hip-hop musicians to think outside of the box of their musical ambitions.

The 29-year old musician told Britain’s i-D magazine: “In this day and age, a rapper can no longer be satisfied with just making music.”

The ‘Hype’ judge – who has 19.4 million Instagram followers – emphasized the importance of being true to yourself but keeping glamour in mind.

He continued: “You have to offer more, show who you really are… but make people fantasize in a way.”

Fresh off the Paris Fashion Week runway, Offset gushed about his love for the French capital.

He said: “I don’t come here enough, but I love Paris. Everything is historical, artistic, and fashionable. It’s very different from the US, but it’s a really beautiful city, with lots of good energy.”

He attributed his success to his “winner” mindset and knowing what he wants to achieve with his life – which along with his rap career, has meant working with Donald Glover on the HBO show “Atlanta.”

He explained: “I always told myself that I was a winner and that my main competitor was myself. I know my goals, I don’t need to look at what others are doing. I focus on what I want to do in order to move forward and be the best I can be.”

One of the most significant markers of his success recently was the present he gave his wife, fellow rapper Cardi B for her 29th birthday earlier this month – a $1.49 million luxury property in the Dominican Republic, to which the “WAP” rapper expressed her gratitude on social media.

She wrote on Instagram: “For a hot minute now, I’ve been telling Set that I really want to invest in short term home rental properties in the DR and other Caribbean countries …. but I felt like he didn’t agree with me and would rather put money into other investments. Well, I was wrong.”

Lil Nas X Dropped Mushrooms To Get Inspired For Latest Album “Montero”

Lil Nas X took psychedelic mushrooms in a bid to prompt inspiration for his album Montero.

The “Old Town Road” star, who teamed up with producers David Biral and Denzel Baptiste to work on the record, told WSJ. Magazine’s new Innovators issue that a “pivotal moment in the process was trying psychedelic mushrooms for the first time,” writer Myles Tanzer revealed.

“Baptiste and Biral sat by Nas’ side sober and talked to him throughout the day, occasionally taking dips in the pool and hot tub but not working on any music, just reflecting on life,” Tanzer wrote, commenting that the mushrooms “allowed (Lil Nas X) to push past lots of lingering feelings of self-consciousness.”

“I was able to open up a lot,” Nas explained of what the mushrooms allowed him to do. “I was able to write actual stories about my life and put it into my music. I actually did that for the first time.”

Nas was among the stars attending the WSJ Magazine Innovator Awards on Monday night (November 1st) at New York’s Museum of Modern Art and told Entertainment Tonight that he’s not going to rush into a new relationship after splitting from his “That’s What I Want” music video co-star Yai Ariza.

“When the time is right, I want somebody who’s fun,” he smiled. “Someone who’s always ready to try new stuff. Somebody’s who’s ready for me to become a different person every single year.”

KNOW YA HIP HOP: Roxanne Shanté, RUNDMC, Big Daddy Kane And More

On November 2, 2021, the Universal Hip Hop Museum and AllHipHop.com are set to celebrate Hip Hop History Month by highlighting Roxanne Shanté, one of the most prolific emcees of her generation.

ROXANNE SHANTÉ

In 1984, a 14-year-old girl named Roxanne Shanté burst onto the Hip-Hop landscape and changed the way that female emcees were seen by the world. Consider the “Mother of the Juice Crew,” who has made history in a number of ways: She is the first female rapper to put a whole collective on in rap history, and her song “Roxanne Revenge” spawned over 100 reaction songs.

Skodi Turns Heads With Epic NYC Rolling Loud Performance, New Single “Back”

After a head turning performance at Rolling Loud, Skodi is officially on our radar. In the words of the late great Notorious B.I.G, “If you don’t know now ya know,” because she has a chance to be one of the more popular names in rap over the next few years.

“Raised in Miami after moving from Jersey, Skodi developed a diverse auditory palette from what was played in her childhood home. Her mother was a DJ spinning Chicago house and disco throughout the days, which opened Skodi’s young ears to the beauty of all different types of music” Skodi’s bio reads.

But don’t let any aspect of Skodi’s appearance or style sway your thoughts on her overall sound – she is an all out rapper. With a dark style, knockin beats and an ability to spit real bars, there’s no telling how far her music takes Skodi. We need alternative voices in rap music today and this is one that has a chance to travel a long way.

GRAMMY Museum Conversations: Nas and Hit-Boy Reveal How Frank Ocean Brought Them Together

What Made Fetty Wap Allegedly Turn To Drug Game?

Fetty Wap.

Best Fetty Wap Gif GIFs | Gfycat

Fetty Wap is looking at life in jail at the time of this writng. Here is the report for those that do not know what is going on:

Fetty Wap was arrested in New York at Citi Field yesterday (October 28th) just before his set at Rolling Loud for his role in a drug conspiracy that spanned from New Jersey to Long Island, New York. According to an indictment out of Central Islip, New York, the rapper and five other men are accused of distributing at least 100 kilos of controlled substances. Among those charged in the conspiracy is a New Jersey correctional officer named Anthony Leonardi and his brother Robert Leonardi. Brian Sullivan and KeVaughn Wiggins are the other two men accused of distributing and possessing controlled substances. Five of the defendants are also charged with using firearms and connection with drug trafficking.

So here is the rumor. I am hearing that – evidenced by the Rolling Loud show – Fetty Wap had no shortage of shows that he could have gotten paid off of. My source tells me he was actually turning down s I hows for money. I am not sure why he was turning down shows, but it was INFERRED TO ME that he had other sources of income. Here is the problem: bro is a pretty big star with a very distinguishable trait: that missing eye. This is not fact at all, but what these journalism streets are saying. I am hoping none of it is true, because Fetty Wap is now looking at LIFE in jail and that is not what’s up. Folks nearby are asking for prayers for the New Jersey homie, because this is a FED CASE…and you already know. The Feds have like a 95% conviction rate. It ain’t looking good. Hoping he simply got caught up in some mess and will get out of it! He got kids and loved ones, but if he was doing what he is accused of…it may all be for nothing.

LGBTQ Organization Forgives DaBaby & Backs The Rapper’s NYC Performance

Jonathan “DaBaby” Kirk spent several weeks dealing with the fallout from his HIV/AIDS comments at Rolling Loud Miami in July. DaBaby appears to be back in the good graces of at least one LGBTQ group following his on-stage diatribe at the music festival.

According to TMZ, Relationship Unleashed CEO Gwendolyn D. Clemons believes DaBaby learned a lot about the LGBTQ community and the HIV/AIDS crisis since his statement over the summer. RU also approved of the North Carolina-bred rapper’s recent appearance at Rolling Loud New York.

The celebrity news outlet reports:

[Relationship Unleashed] gave [DaBaby] a history lesson of sorts and educated the guy … including how HIV/AIDS affects people in his native Charlotte, NC — something Clemons thinks resonated with DaBaby, whom she believes did not understand what he was saying. Clemons says DaBaby was coming from a place of ignorance, but she says now he gets it …  and that’s why Relationship Unleashed can cosign his latest Rolling Loud cameo, and others to come.

TMZ
https://twitter.com/ViralMaterial/status/1419500005853958145?s=20

Several music festivals pulled DaBaby from their respective lineups because the Interscope recording artist allegedly failed to record an apology video that would play before his performances. This came after DaBaby offered a public mea culpa for his rhetoric before quickly walking back those apologies.

Three months after Rolling Loud Miami, DaBaby showed up at Rolling Loud New York as a special guest during Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson’s set. 50 Cent was an outspoken supporter of DaBaby before he found himself in the weeks-long AIDS/HIV and LGBTQ controversy.

Previously, 50 Cent addressed the situation DaBaby found himself in as a result of his offensive words in Miami. The G-Unit boss explained that the 29-year-old “Suge” rhymer is still relatively new at being a star and he is possibly unaware of what comes with that position.

“There’s nobody that tells you, ‘Now you’re being held to these mainstream standards. You can’t say and do these different things,'” stated 50 Cent. “[DaBaby] didn’t have a publicist involved. That’s why the response took so long. Even his apologies… the first apology attempt at it is what made it worse.”

Louisiana rapper Boosie Badazz, who has also been accused of being homophobic, took a different approach than 50 Cent when commenting on DaBaby supposedly being “canceled” by the LGBTQ community and their allies. Boosie suggested DaBaby did not say anything wrong and that “them people” bullied the Blame It on Baby album creator.

French Montana Revisits Health Scare With ‘They Got Amnesia’ Album Cover

French Montana harkened back to a difficult time in his life for his new album cover.

The veteran rapper shared the cover art for his upcoming They Got Amnesia LP on Monday. The artwork features a recreation of a hospital photo from his health scare in 2019.

“’THEY GOT AMNESIA’ THE ALBUM NOVEMBER 12,” he wrote on Instagram. “GRATEFUL TO BE HERE TO TELL MY STORY. 2 YEARS AGO THIS SAME DAY I WAS IN ICU FIGHTING FOR MY LIFE. LOSS OF MEMORY LOST FRIENDS LOST HOPE ALMOST LOST IT ALL…. AND WHEN I WAS DOWN I FOUND OUT ALL I HAD WAS ALLAH… HE PICKED ME UP AND GAVE ME A SECOND CHANCE.”

French Montana added, “WHILE I WAS TRYING TO BOUNCE BACK THEY COUNTED ME OUT, AND FORGOT EVERYTHING WE DID. DAY 730 ‘ THEY GOT AMNESIA ‘ THE ALBUM nov 12.”

Two years ago, French Montana was hospitalized after officers showed up at his Calabasas home to investigate a robbery. Authorities found no break-in but discovered him suffering a medical issue.

The Epic Records artist was dealing with dehydration, exhaustion, severe stomach pains and an irregular heart rate. He later admitted he’d been drinking too much and popping pills, including Adderall and Percocet, prior to his hospitalization.

French Montana is scheduled to drop his They Got Amnesia album on November 12. A tracklist for the LP hasn’t been revealed at the time of publishing.

Megan Thee Stallion Plans To Drop Second Album In 2022

Megan Thee Stallion is one of the top rap stars to emerge over the last three years. With two No. 1 singles, three Grammy wins, and numerous headlining shows, the Hot Girl Coach secured her spot among Hip Hop’s upper echelon.

Apple Music 1’s Zane Lowe caught up with Megan Thee Stallion for the streamer’s New Music Daily. The discussion included Meg speaking about dropping her Something For Thee Hotties mixtape and a forthcoming studio LP.

“It is literally something for the Hotties. So it’s all the freestyles that are recent over original beats that the Hotties have been asking me to put on streaming platforms. And it’s just a sprinkle of some new things,” said Megan Thee Stallion. “So, I’m working on two albums, right? So, I’m just recording a bunch of music.”

She continued, “Things that didn’t seem like they started fitting on the project that I know I’m going to release next year. I’m like, ‘Okay. It sounds like these songs go more cohesive together’… So the two albums that I’m working on, Something For Thee Hotties, and y’all know I’m not about to tell y’all the name of the second album, I have been recording songs for a long time.”

Megan Thee Stallion released her debut album, Good News, in November 2020. The 26-year-old Texan’s catalog also includes the Tina Snow and Suga EPs as well as the Fever mixtape. 2021’s Something For Thee Hotties hosts the Top 20 hit “Thot S###.”

“I felt like I was rushing trying to put out projects because I feel like I always got to feed the Hotties,” Megan Thee Stallion told Zane Lowe. “So right now how I’m writing, I’m really taking my time. This is the most songs that I’ve ever recorded.”

The 300 Entertainment signee added, “So that’s why Something For The Hotties – it feels good because it’s kind of like an introduction into the next phase of my music. This is something that I already did. I’ve been sitting on these songs. So now I’m like, ‘Okay, the Hotties deserve this. They should have it.’ And y’all should be prepared for next year.”

Wale Comments On Rumored Beef Between Rick Ross & Meek Mill

Maybach Music Group will go down as one of the most successful labels/crews in Hip Hop history. The collective produced bona fide chart-topping, critically-acclaimed rap stars in Rick Ross, Meek Mill, and Wale.

Even though each of the MMG representatives repeatedly worked together on music, including the Self Made compilation series, the camp also dealt with friction among members. Recently, there was alleged heat between Meek Mill and Rick Ross.

Wale stopped by the Drink Champs podcast to promote his new Folarin II album. Drink Champs host N.O.R.E. asked Wale to choose between MMG comrades Meek and Rozay. The DMV native chose to take a shot of liquor instead of answering the question.

N.O.R.E. also directly asked Wale about the rumors that Meek Mill barred Rick Ross from his section at Miami’s LIV nightclub during a birthday celebration. Wale insisted he had no information about that situation and does not believe it is true.

“I don’t know s### about that. That s### don’t even sound real to me. I talked to both of them n##### all the time. I ain’t hear nothing like that. If I ain’t hear nothing like that, I can’t say,” Wale responded.

Meek Mill also poured more fuel on the fire when he recently tweeted about the contract status with his record label. The Philadephia rapper did not clarify if he had issues with Rick Ross’s Maybach Music Group, its distributor Atlantic Records, or both.

“I haven’t gotten paid from music and I don’t know how much money labels make off me!!!!! I need lawyers ASAP!!!” posted Meek Mill. That tweet has since been deleted, but other tweets related to Meek’s complaints are still live on his Twitter account.

Jay-Z Blasts Perfume Company In Court For “Crappy, Lazy Work.”

Jay-Z testified in court in Manhattan on Monday for the second time after being sued by perfume company Parlux. The brand alleges Hov failed to meet his contractual obligations as part of a product launch for “Jay-Z Gold” cologne.

In the complaint, filed in 2016, Parlux Fragrances claim Jay-Z’s refusal to make promotional appearances cost them $18 million. They state the music mogul failed to attend the “Jay-Z Gold” launch at Macy’s in November 2013. They also say he failed in his contractual obligation to promote the cologne when he missed scheduled appearances on Good Morning America and in Women’s Wear Daily in 2013.

Jay-Z countersued claiming he is still owed $2.7 million under the deal and blames any failings on the company for its poor-quality work.

‘I’ve always had problems with the quality of lazy work that was coming from Parlux,’ he testified at the Supreme Court in New York City on Monday. He later added that the company does ‘crappy, lazy work’ promoting the perfume.

Jay-Z Says “My Name Is On It”

He called a commercial that featured a naked woman covered in liquid gold “B-rate.” He didn’t want to attach his name to the ad which he saw as inferior quality because “my name is on it,” he wrote in an email.

Additionally, he objected to the decision to sell the fragrance at Superdrug, a discount UK drug store chain, and argued it was a violation of their contract. “We are trying to build a brand,” he testified. “You’re almost cutting the legs off from the brand [by] putting it in discount stores.”

However, Parlux says Jay-Z “constantly threw sand in the gears.” Claims which Hov vehemently denies. When asked in court if he wanted the perfume to fail, he responded “Absolutely not,” and explained that the cologne failing would be a loss for his brand as the product carries his name.

“If I hurt Parlux and I hurt “Gold Jay-Z” — they are in my name,” he said. “I’m not going to cut off my nose to spite my face.”

Further, he added “My name is everything to me,” and said out of all the products in his brand the cologne was the only one to bear his name.

Boosie Badazz: Fans Tell Me Don’t Let Nobody Silence You

Over the last several years, Boosie Badazz shared his disapproving opinions about men in prison having sex with each other, Dwayne Wade’s then-12-year-old transgender daughter, and Lil Nas X being an openly gay rapper.

Those comments about the LGBTQ community included Boosie calling Lil Nas X a “f#####” and telling the 22-year-old hitmaker to commit suicide. Boosie was widely criticized for his homophobic rants, but many people still support the Baton Rouge native.

According to Boosie Badazz, his fans constantly show him love in public despite receiving backlash online. He took to social media to post a video about his recent experience while shopping.

“I was out making groceries, eight different people came up to me and told me, ‘You the voice I ain’t got, bruh,'” said Boosie. “Eight different people told me, ‘Don’t let nobody silence you, bruh. You all we got, bruh.'”

The 38-year-old Goat Talk 3 creator continued, “Eight different people just told me that in three hours. Like, man, s### crazy. About four women and four dudes said the exact same thing. I’m making a difference.”

Boosie Badazz became an extremely polarizing figure once he decided to go on an unprovoked public crusade against Lil Nas X. Even LNX’s family members got involved in the months-long back-and-forth.

Lil Nas X’s father, Robert Stafford, called out Boosie Badzz as a hypocrite for “promoting drugs, gun violence, degrading women, and getting high every video” to children. Boosie responded by suggesting Stafford was hurt that his son came out as gay.
