Birdman Explains Infamous Kiss With Lil Wayne

Rumors have abounded ever since THAT photo of Birdman kissing protégé Lil Wayne on the lips surfaced more than twenty ago.

The Cash Money Records CEO sat down for an interview with REVOLT TV’s “Big Facts podcast.” The segment where he addressed the infamous kiss has gone viral. Asked why he did it, Birdman responded “First of all, my own son, I would kiss him. I always looked at Wayne as my son and I always looked at it like, ’cause I was in the streets, and I thought this might be the last time he ever see me,” he continued.

“Cause I was living like that. That’s what that s### really started from ’cause I thought that every night I leave, I might not ever come back. And I always today look at Wayne as my child. I was his father when he didn’t have a father since he was nine years old. And I love him like my own and I’d give my life for him and I’d take a life for him.”

Birdman was also asked who could compete against Lil Wayne in a “Verzuz” battle. “Himself, Wayne versus Tunechi,” he replied. “He got too much s### going on, nobody could touch that. Come on, brother, this is Tunechi. This n***ga had 100 singles in one year. He passed Elvis in one year. 100 songs on Billboard, so I don’t think an individual could top that. I’m talking about 100 hit songs. The work Wayne put into it, I wouldn’t even play with that s###.”

The Cash Money boss was asked to address the allegations of him scamming his artists.

“I don’t get my feelings in it, but I ain’t never took from no n***a,” he said. “I always bless n****s. I had some incidents early on because I was really young in this s###. I ain’t know no better. But, any problem I had I cleared it up. I paid my n***a. Remember because I was young. I’m telling you 20 years old. So, a lot of s### happened early on, I just ain’t know. And I’m with these white folks and they not attending to the business.”

Apparently referring to the very public dispute he’s had with Lil Wayne Birdman said, “Any problem from my son on down, and I gave him 50 million, I cleared it up.”

He goes on to detail the label and publishing issues between them and also talks about his regret at not signing Kanye West when he had the chance.

Toronto University To Offer A Course On Drake & The Weeknd

Hate school but love Drake and the Weeknd? Well, maybe you should consider transferring to Toronto. X University (the soon-to-be-renamed Ryerson University) will be teaching a new course in 2022 called “Deconstructing Drake and the Weeknd.”

The course will be taught by author, podcaster, publicist, and journalist Dalton Higgins. He explained the need for such a course after observing an increased focus on hip-hop pedagogy at academic institutions across the United States.

“On the U.S. college and university scene there are all kinds of courses being taught about rock, folk, pop artists like Miley Cyrus, Lady Gaga, Bruce Springsteen – so why shouldn’t there be a course about Drake and the Weeknd right here in Toronto?” Higgins tells “NOW Toronto.” “On American college campuses, there are easily more than 300 hip-hop courses being taught about artists like Jay Z, Outkast, Beyoncé (there are a lot of Beyoncé courses). Many Ivy League universities including Harvard and Cornell, have fully embraced hip-hop education, so we can do the same here.”

Higgins notes that Drake and the Weeknd are two of the biggest artists in the world and as well as the academic recognition, it’s also important to explore the conditions that led them to seek out their careers in the US rather than their native Canada.

“When you have two Black artists born and bred in Toronto who perform rap, R&B, and pop, and who are arguably well on their way to becoming billionaires at some point in time, there is apparently a lot to learn,” he says. “Remember, they both blew up despite being products of a local Canadian music scene that does very little to foster the growth of its Black music practitioners.

“What is it that made these particular artists stand out from the pack of thousands of cross-genre musicians from here from a marketing perspective?” Higgins continues. “Drake and the Weeknd are both real human beings, which means that, like most humans, they are going to do and say intriguing and confounding things, so we’ll peel back the layers on some of that [too]. My expectation is that students will ask tough questions about their music, race, class, subject matter, music production, lyrics.”

Fans and students can sign up for “RTA 950: Deconstructing Drake and The Weeknd” for the 2022 winter term.

Teyana Taylor Announces Retirement, Going On Tour “One Last Time”

Teyana Taylor has made a huge impact since she arrived in the game. The singer-songwriter, actress, dancer, choreographer, director, model, and reality TV personality has put in some serious work over the years and the effort has paid off.

However, the time has come for Teyana to take a step back from the game, maybe this time for good. The songstress took to her Instagram on Wednesday (September 22) to announce that this tour would be her final one.

Teyana posted the tour flyer to her Instagram page with the caption “How lucky am I to have something that makes saying goodbye so hard,” she wrote. “However for every goodbye, God makes the next hello closer.”

“Come out and watch me leave it all out on the stage…One last time…Just for you. And as my last rose petal falls, I say farewell.”

The tour, entitled “The Last Rose Petal” will see Teyana take her set across the country performing in Los Angeles, Houston, and New York City. The tour begins in November and fans of the multi talented artist will not want to miss out on what could be the last chance to catch her performing live!

The news of Teyana Taylor’s impending retirement should come as no surprise to her fans. Back in December last year the married mother of two told fans via Instagram Live that she was leaving the industry for the sake of her sanity.

“Baby, I gotta do it for my mental health. I have to do it for my emotional health. I have to do it for my kids, so I can stay alive for my kids,” she said on a December 2020 IG Live session. “Until I’m free, until I can get [my label] to release me, yes I want to retire. I don’t want to do this anymore.”

Around the same time, she posted that she was “retiring this chapter of my story”

Rihanna Is “Experimenting” On Her New Album

Rihanna is switching up her musical approach by experimenting on her next album.

While speaking to reporters before her Savage x Fenty Show Volume 3, Rihanna commented on her ninth studio album. The multi-hyphenate declared the long-awaited LP will be unlike anything she’s ever released before.

“You’re not gonna expect what you hear,” she said. “Just put that in your mind. Whatever you know of Rihanna is not gonna be what you hear.”

Rihanna noted she was taking a similar approach to her music as she does to fashion. She described the creative process as being enjoyable.

“I’m really experimenting,” she said. “And music is like fashion. You should be able to play. I should be able to wear whatever I want. And I treat music the same way. So, I’m having fun and it’s gonna be completely different. That’s it.”

Rihanna didn’t provide any update on when fans can expect to hear the much-anticipated LP. She still hasn’t announced a title for the project, which will be her first album since 2016’s Anti.

Although Rihanna’s kept quiet in terms of music over the past few years, she’s been very busy with her other business endeavors. These include her Savage x Fenty Show Volume 3, which will be streamed by Amazon Prime Video.

Rihanna’s Savage x Fenty Show Volume 3 features performances by Nas, Normani and Daddy Yankee, among others. The fashion event premieres on September 24.

“This week marks the 15th anniversary of @LupeFiasco’s Gold certified debut ‘Food & Liquor,’ an undeniably seminal project which helped launch the hit-making musician & an entire cast of iconic creatives to the forefront of the mainstream,” the label tweeted.

Lupe Fiasco’s Food and Liquor was famously leaked ahead of its release, which led to the album getting shelved and reworked. The retail version of the LP garnered critical acclaim, being named one of the best projects of 2006 by multiple publications.

Food and Liquor peaked at No. 8 on the Billboard 200. It was nominated for Best Rap Album at the 49th annual Grammy Awards.

Nicki Minaj’s Husband’s Accuser Speaks Out Amid Harassment Lawsuit

Jennifer Hough, who accused Nicki Minaj’s husband Kenneth Petty of rape in 1994, discussed her harassment lawsuit against the couple on an episode of The Real.

Hough sued Nicki Minaj and the rap star’s husband for allegedly trying to intimidate her into recanting rape allegations against Petty. When asked why she chose to speak out publicly for the first time on The Real, Hough explained her decision.

“I’m tired of being afraid,” she stated. “I feel like the actions that were taken in regards to this whole situation have put me in a different type of fear, at my age, now. And it was wrong. And I don’t want to be afraid anymore. So, the only way not to be afraid is to continue to speak up.”

Petty was convicted of first-degree attempted rape in 1995. When he became a minor celebrity by marrying Nicki Minaj, Hough feared she’d be identified as his victim.

“I was so afraid of being found out,” she said. “I was so afraid as being known as the person he violated. And I didn’t want that.”

On The Real, Hough recounted her rape in vivid detail. She recalled Petty looking in the mirror and saying, “I’m the man,” after sexually assaulting her.

Hough also addressed the ways she’s been intimidated and harassed since Petty’s conviction gained notoriety. She revealed she actually spoke to Nicki Minaj in March 2020.

“She said that she got word that I was willing to help them out in a situation,” Hough said. “I didn’t understand what she was referring to. She offered to fly me and my family to L.A. I turned it down. And I told her, ‘Woman to woman, this really happened.’ And I haven’t spoken to her since.”

Nicki Minaj and her husband were accused of sending people to negotiate a bribe for Hough’s silence. Hough noted she kept saying no to all these offers, including one where an associate of the couple put $20,000 in her lap.

“The last message I received was that I should’ve taken the money ‘cause they’re going to use that money to put on my head,” she said.

Gianni Cures Shares His Journey to Success in the Music Scene

At 23, Gianni Cures is a young talent taking over the American music scene. Gianni is an independent artist with a fresh new music sound with a healthy mix of pop and hip-hop. The San Diego native is showing great potential to dominate the music scene with his unique and multi-genre sound that is thrilling music fans across all divides.

Since his introduction to the music industry, Gianni has been releasing inspirational music with the hope of making an impact on someone’s life. His music passion is anchored on bringing change, and that’s why Gianni wants to use music to cure the world.

He started singing from a young age but was too scared to actually pursue music as a career. He ended up in the influencer world, where he was silently pursuing his music goals. He later moved to Los Angeles, where he learned how to make music professionally. His popularity in the influencer world significantly contributed to him launching his music career.

Gianni acknowledges that making a name in the music industry can be challenging, especially when you don’t have something unique to offer. He says that the industry is full of talented artists fighting for the same slots, so he had to differentiate himself from the rest of the pack.

He says that he had to jump into as many sessions as possible, learning and building on his experience. This also helped him establish essential networks that have significantly helped him break into the industry. Gianni says he used his many famous influencer friends to market his music brand. Hanging around with some of the best artists and influencers also helped him gain the confidence needed in music. This was essential for the young artist, as it helped him show the world what he’s got. His goal was to create good relationships with other artists and producers, after which his musical talent did the talking.

The Mexican-American singer is taking over the music scene with his ability to mix multiple genres like pop, hip-hop, EDM, and rock to create and give it a fresh feel. Many listeners also find his ability to incorporate multiple switch-ups in all his songs captivating, so they are constantly glued to his channels waiting for his next release. Gianni believes that music enthusiasts want diversity in sound and, more importantly, to see how versatile their favorite artist can get.

Unfortunately, the modern generation of music listeners also has less of an attention span, which is seemingly getting shorter every day. This has been a big challenge for any artist out there, Gianni included. To counter this, the talented singer says that he’s been working hard to create something different and unique, perhaps never heard before, to keep his fans’ attention. Luckily, most of his fans are very loyal and always enjoy every track he releases.

Moving forward, the ambitious artist is aspiring to see himself become one of the biggest artists in the world. He desires to continue serving music enthusiasts with great tunes that they can connect and resonate with. He dreams of going on a global tour one day and inspiring millions of people to go after their dreams. In simple terms, Gianni wants to cure the world with music.

Unkonfined – Status ft. Equipto (Hot New Single)

This is a song about an independent artist’s quest, successes, and hardships in the hip-hop industry. It highlights the fine line independent artists walk between remaining independent vs. joining the mainstream music industry and outlines the struggles that independent hip-hop artists face. Unkonfined and Equipto stress the importance of avoiding the temptations of selling your soul for the promise of bright lights and fame.

They also discuss the cultural aspects and attributes specific to that of a Bay Area rapper and their hometowns of San Francisco, CA and San Jose, CA. The track features Equipto (Ilyich Sato). Equipto is a legendary Bay Area rapper from San Francisco with a catalog of music that runs deep and who is most famously known for all of the music and tours he did with the legendary Andre Nickatina.

He’s also a social activist who’s dedicated his life to bringing awareness to issues like police murdering innocent black and brown men/women, the crisis in Palestine, and also bringing to light many of the corrupt actions of politicians across the bay, the state, the country, and the world. He is one of the Frisco Five who famously went on a hunger strike outside of SF City Hall back in April of 2016 in San Francisco demanding the SFPD police chief to step down amidst a slew of recent SFPD killings of innocent black/brown men and women.

How Real Estate Coach Jamisa McIvor Bennet Stands Out From the Rest

Most people end up working until their last breath because they’re too afraid to invest their money. Investments are often associated with market risks, so many people prefer to live solely on their paychecks. However, the real beauty of investment is that you are making your money work for you rather than working to make money. You can grow your wealth while sleeping or vacationing with friends and family. Real estate is the oldest and perhaps one of the safest players in this field. It is only due to a lack of knowledge that people don’t venture into real estate investing.

Dr. Jamisa McIvor Bennet, a real estate investor, has stepped in to bridge this information gap between willing investors and investment options. Her company, Rosebud’s investments, has helped more than 500 people enter the lucrative real estate industry as investors with little to no debt at all. Out of these 500 clients, 175 have purchase properties as low as $600. This makes it loud and clear that Rosebud’s investments can guide anyone from any walk of life to become a real estate investor with minimal to zero risks.

Born and brought up in South Philadelphia, Jamisa hails from a normal family background that has no connection to real estate. Her grandmother’s death was a turning point in her life that paved the way for her journey into real estate investments. After Jamisa’s grandmother Rose passed away, she inherited a massive property she had no idea what to do with. She was afraid of maintaining such a huge house, so she thought it would be a good idea to sell it and do something productive with the money. That’s when she decided to invest in real estate and started her journey into the industry.

With no prior knowledge about real estate, it was initially difficult for her to make property assessments. However, she sought help from investors on social media and regularly followed their tutorials and live sessions. She gradually got a hold on things, learning how to decide property values and when and how much to invest in a property. It was then she came to know that she had actually sold her inherited property at a much lower price than its actual valuation. She took this as a lesson and became resolute to grow her wealth to make up for the loss.

What followed was a series of real estate investments. Jamisatook it low and slow, closing one deal at a time. After 4 to 5 successful deals, Jamisa became an expert in real estate investments. As she started discussing her journey with her friends and family, she found that so many people were interested in investing their money but were hesitant due to a lack of knowledge.

The thought of guiding others and teaching them how simple and profitable investing in real estate is prompted her to start Rosebud’s Investments in 2017. The 27-year-old real estate investor named her company after her grandmother because it all started by selling her property. Currently, Rosebud’s Investments is managed by a team of 5 and has already grown into a multi-million dollar company with a debt-free portfolio of 20 properties.

Jamisa is enjoying her journey into real estate, coaching people from any income group to become real estate investors. She wants to continue this for many more years to come, to help people see their money grow in a matter of time.

Basically, this concept holds that nothing in the universe stands by itself as every object is linked to an endless chain connected to other links. This chain, furthermore, has never been broken, uniting all processes and objects in a single whole and universal character.

With music and art at the forefront of their products’ promotions, Keep It Universal believes that these two things know no borders or limits. Art provides us with immeasurable social and personal benefits, while the music makes everyone come together and connects motor and cognitive development necessary for personality development. Both art and music can speak to everyone, transcending differences as they’re all about feelings.

While they’re known for selling clothing items, Keep It Universal represents the universal connection movement as well. Through their existence, they hope that the message of hope and unity will resonate with everyone through their products. The brand hopes to gain appeal not only with the old souls but also with the millennials and Gen Z.

Recorded Amidst the Pandemic, YOUNGMAN and Celestaphone’s A YEAR OF OCTOBERS is an Impactful Album

During times of difficulty, we can always learn to appreciate people that produce art and music and bring joy to our lives. The Coronavirus has caused havoc across the world ever since its inception, and sadly enough, not much has changed. People have been feeling demoralized, and the morale has been low as humanity fights this disease together. Careers and jobs have been difficult to carry on with, and people pursuing creative endeavors have it worse because only so much creativity can come out of a four-walled room.

YOUNGMAN was spawned during conversations with the late MF DOOM and is the alter ego of MC Paul Barman. While the producer, Celestaphone, is from California. Celestaphone and Paul started collaborating in 2019, which finally resulted in their new album, A YEAR OF OCTOBERS. This is an album that mixes two genres, punk, and hip-hop, to create something incredible. A YEAR OF OCTOBERS is destined to drive in many fans for this amazing duo.

Paul Barman, via none other than his hop-hop lyrics, is known to have invented a word that actually is in the Oxford English Dictionary. The legendary MF DOOM and MC Paul Barman have collaborated together on multiple occasions,

YOUNGMAN’s debuts album, A YEAR OF OCTOBERS, is end to end produced by Celestaphone, another brilliant collaboration. The album, along with its unique mix, was also very unique in its making. Unlike most studio albums, A YEAR OF OCTOBERS was mostly recorded in non-studio locations. This was just one of the hardships the team faced due to the unsteady situation and growing Covid-19 restrictions.

Despite any hardships, YOUNGMAN and Celestaphone did not give up. They stuck to their passion and made an incredible album while operating in the most unusual circumstances. They both, however, agree that the distance in communication caused by Covid-19 regulation caused problems for them, resulting in them putting in a lot of extra time and effort to produce the results they wanted.

However difficult the times may have been, this iconic rapper-producer duo came out of the dust and together made an album that is sure to make its mark. When talking about advice, YOUNGMAN and Celestaphone said that great art can be a healer during times of turmoil and uncertainty. They were speaking from experience and might even be referring to their difficult time producing A YEAR OF OCTOBERS.

These two have come out and presented the world with their art, and they hope to attract new people and a fresh audience to listen to their music, and they have plans for more music. In a rather dark, gloomy time brought upon by the pandemic, it’s always a breath of fresh air when someone uses their creativity to bring us something we can truly enjoy. YOUNGMAN and Celestaphone have done exactly that.

Coming from a rich music background, Gio started nurturing his musical talent at a young age, and by age 15, he released his first song, which went on to gain over 1M streams on Soundcloud. The grand reception from his ever-growing fan base motivated Gio to release more music, and it was then he started working on the 13 track R&B/hip-hop album.

Gio’s broad understanding of various genres is part of what makes his music stand out. Gio does not confine his sound to one genre and creates music around hip-hop, rap, country, EDM, and pop. By exploring different genres, he not only gets to expand his talent but to equally create music that the audience can relate to.

According to Gio, music inspires him to keep moving even amidst challenges. He says music has always been there for him and helped him through the many tragedies he has experienced in his life. With every song, Gio aims to create music that inspires and brings out the best in everyone who listens to it. Just like music has been his second home and has helped him through difficult times, his goal is to create music that all can understand.

To the LA-based superstar, the studio is one of his best places. Drawing his inspiration from his surroundings, Gio creates lasting memories with his timeless songs. His talent has been noticed by some of the big names in the industry, including Adam Quinn, CEO of Apex Records, whom Gio terms as his number one mentor. Moving to LA, Adam was among the first to realize the young talent and took him under his wing; in fact, Gio notes in his recently dropped album G-STAR 2 Adam has been of great help showing him how to get it done. He is also working with celebrity vocal coach Nick Cooper on one of his future projects.

Although relatively new to the music industry, Gio would easily be mistaken for a veteran. His unique vocal range and sound is reshaping the music industry. As he continues to flourish, the only way for the singer and songwriter is up. Asked about the future, Gio Franklin is aiming for the top.

“I see multiple Grammys in multiple genres and maybe a few Oscars,” says Gio. He also hopes to one day own a music label or talent agency. The music industry is competitive, making it hard for upcoming talent to penetrate the industry; this has seen the industry lose some highly talented musicians as they did not have someone to hold their hand.

Lil Nas X Wants To Record A Smash Hit With Lizzo

Rapper Lil Nas X has confirmed his plans to record a song with Lizzo – and he is sure it will be a smash hit.

Lil Nas said he cannot wait to team up with the “Good as Hell hitmaker.”

“I was actually talking to Lizzo a few weeks ago (about this). I feel that it’s definitely going to happen,” he told NME.com after performing at BBC Radio One’s Live Lounge.

“It’s going to be a banger bop, everyone’s going to love it and going to play it 3 billion times,” he added.

Fans have been calling for the two rap stars to team up after they famously hit up a strip club after the 2020 Grammys for a “crazy night,” as the “Old Town Road” star described it to U.S. TV host Jimmy Fallon.

Nas also has his next dream collaborator in mind: “I’m feeling Rihanna right now. Rihanna, get in this damn studio,” he quipped to the British music outlet.

Ray J Upset With Wack 100 For Trying To Push New Explicit Tape With Kim Kardashian

Ray J has slammed Wack 100 for bringing up the singer and actor’s sex tape drama, claiming he has more explicit footage.

The star’s intimate moments with ex-girlfriend Kim Kardashian from 2002 were previously sold to bosses at adult film studio Vivid Entertainment after leaking online, and now the “One Wish” hitmaker’s former handler, Wack 100, insists he has more steamy clips of the pair, telling news outlets the footage is “more graphic and better than the first one.”

Ray, who is now married to Princess Love, has moved to disassociate himself from Wack’s comments, insisting he is trying to escape his sordid past.

Responding to the reports via Instagram, Ray writes: “This ain’t cool – I been staying off the Raydar (sic) – Just staying focused and being humble and thankful for all the blessings I’m receiving. How can I show growth and maturity if this kinda of stuff keeps happening?

“I’m a father now, and my job is to be a great parent and put them (kids) first. This is not the message I want to send out – smh (shaking my head).”

Wack claimed he had “part two” of Kim and Ray’s sex tape but explained the only person he’d hand it over to would be the Skims founder’s estranged husband, Kanye West because it would be “disrespectful” to go public with the footage.

Speaking on Bootleg Kev’s podcast, Wack said, “All I know is Kanye, holla at me, bro. We got part two on the laptop. Ain’t never been seen. We’d love for you to have it. It’d be a great personal, private NFT… I would never give it to anybody but Kanye ’cause it’s the mother of his children…. That’s for him. We can’t put that out there in the world like that. It’d be disrespectful.”

Meanwhile, Kim Kardashian has denied the tape’s existence through her lawyer, insisting Wack is just looking for fame.

Speaking on the 40-year-old beauty mogul’s behalf, lawyer Marty Singer said: “The claim that there is an unreleased sex tape is unequivocally false. It is unfortunate that people make these statements to try and get their 15 minutes of fame.”

The original film, “Kim Kardashian Superstar,” was a massive hit for Vivid, bringing in almost $100 million over ten years.

Kanye West Ends Lawsuit With Black-Owned Tech Company After Wild Deposition

Kanye West has agreed to end a lawsuit with tech company bosses who accused him of stealing their ideas.

The rapper and MyChannel chiefs have informed the court they have agreed to a joint stipulation of dismissal, with both parties set to pay their legal fees and the company agreeing to dismiss all claims against the Stronger hitmaker, RadarOnline.com reports.

MyChannel executives initially filed the lawsuit in August 2020, claiming Kanye had told them he admired the way their tech used artificial intelligence “to incorporate e-commerce in video content” and planned to use it on his Yeezy website.

They alleged they spent much money developing a program for the “Bound 2” singer, only for him to back out of the deal, prompting them to subsequently accuse him of stealing their idea and using it for his Sunday Service shows, but Kanye denied all wrongdoing.

The case was most noticeable for Kanye’s controversial deposition – the rapper refused to answer questions about the case and stormed out while wearing a Jesus Christ mask over his face because he claimed the lawyers had no right to see his face.

During the 10-minute Zoom meeting, Kanye called MyChannel’s lawyer “boy” 12 times and described himself as a “mental genius-ness.”

Before storming out, he also declared he was the “richest black man in America and a black Trump supporter and that he could not be bothered with the deposition because he had lives (and diets) to change.”

MyChannel’s bosses immediately went back to court, demanding Kanye sit for another deposition.

He recently agreed to sit for a second time, but that will not need to happen now that the confidential agreement has been reached.

R. Kelly Lawyer Implies Singer Will Not Testify In His Own Defense

R. Kelly is unlikely to take to the stand in his sex trafficking trial.

As the defense team wound down their case, Attorney Deveraux Cannick made the remark while the jury was out of the courtroom on Tuesday (September 21).

Upon hearing the comment, U.S. District Judge Ann Donnelly said that Kelly still has time to change his mind if he wants to take to the stand before closing arguments, to which R. Kelly star nodded his head.

The closing arguments could begin as soon as Wednesday afternoon, according to reports.

Kelly is accused of grooming several women and two men for sex while allegedly kidnapping and psychologically tormenting them, illegally videotaping sex acts, passing on sexually transmitted diseases, and refusing necessities like bathroom breaks and food.

The R&B singer has pleaded not guilty to racketeering charges and violating the Mann Act, which makes it illegal to transport anyone across state lines for sex.

Kelly denies the charges.
