Jeremih Thankful For His Life – Defeats Covid-19 And Is Finally Discharged From Hospital

R&B singer Jeremih has finally been discharged from hospital following a lengthy battle with Covid-19.

The “Don’t Tell ‘Em” hitmaker underwent treatment for the coronavirus in Chicago, Illinois, but his pal Chance the Rapper offered an update on Twitter on Thursday, writing: “I AM FILLED WITH PRAISE RIGHT NOW I JUST HEARD MY BROTHER JEREMIH’S VOICE ON THE PHONE FOR THE FIRST TIME IN ALMOST A MONTH. HE WILL BE OUT THE HOSPITAL TOMORROW WE GIVE ALL GLORY TO THE FATHER IN JESUS NAME.”

Chance was right, because Jeremih just released a statement confirming he is out of the hospital and back home resting up. Jeremih thanked all the medical staff who aided him as he recovered.

“First and foremost, I would like to thank God and the incredible team of doctors and nurses at Northwestern Memorial Hospital for saving my life. I will be forever grateful,” Jeremih said in a statement today (December 5th). “I would also like to thank my family and friends for all their prayers and well wishes. I’m overwhelmed with gratitude. A special thanks to Chance The Rapper, 50 Cent and Diddy for their love and support.”

Jeremih had been in critical condition in hospital, after being hooked up to a ventilator, with experts commenting that it was unusual for the virus to have such a massive impact given that he’s only 33-years-old.

Fans Rejoice, Then Disappointed After Lil Durk Returns And Disappears From Instagram

Lil Durk decided to take a break from Instagram and temporarily disabled his account after the death of his friend, and artist, King Von.

King Von died on November 6th, after being shot in front of the Monaco Hookah Lounge in Atlanta, during a confrontation with a group of men affiliated with Savannah, Georgia rapper Quando Rondo.

During his hiatus, it was reported that Lil Dirk was out for vengeance when he allegedly purchased all the tickets to one of Quando Rondo’s shows.

The threat of violence became so real, that the Mayor of Macon, Georgia, and the police in the city decided to squash Quando Rondo’s first performance since King Von’s murder.

Lil Durk has remained silent on the situation, he prepares for the release of his new album The Voice. Durk returned for a moment on Saturday afternoon (December 5th), leading to an outpouring of support for the Chicago rapper.

But just as fast as he came, he went. The rapper disabled his account once again, leaving fans disappointed.

The same cannot be said for Quando Rondo, who dropped an insulting track about the shooting called “End of Story,” while throwing up gang signs and flashing guns via social media.

Quando Rondo’s affiliate Timothy “Lul Timm” Leaks has been charged for the death of King Von.

Oun-P: Battles, Bars & Bro Code – The Return of the Bronx Bomber

By Slops

Since breaking on to the scene on 106 and park years ago Oun P has always been held in high regard for his pen. Now with his latest body of work in a jam-packed year he’s looking to create some “separation” between him and the competition. Oun-P has always been a spitter but it seems he’s reminded the world recently with his second freestyle on Funk Flex. With his brother J Quest by his side the proceeded to tear it down. “I grew up listening to hot 97 freestyles so when I got my chance had it tear it down.” Oun P confidently explains to AllHipHop host Slops. He seems to take the same approach with his music as “The Separation” is just an onslaught of impactful bars put into gripping stories that many can relate to. Now a vet in the game the BX native is happy being able to make a living off of bars and is in no rush to sign a deal. “I like independent I keep all my money”. He explains to All Hip Hop. With his talent you can obviously see why he’s not chasing a record. Him and his brother also making a good tandem he allows him to come in for a minute and speak on the plans for the future and the second installment of their joint mixtape “The Bro Code”. We wrap with P after felt tribute to fellow BX native Fred The Godson. He talks about the love he had and a special song he has in the works. With 3 more projects on the way plus a battle with Charlie Clips coming up he’s looking to begin 2021 with a BX Bang.

Dr. Dre’s Oldest Daughter Says She Hasn’t Heard From Her Dad In 17 Years; Blames Ex-Wife

Dr. Dre’s dirty laundry keeps coming out in the wash, as he divorces his wife Nicole young. The ex-couple are divorcing and battling over the control of an $850 million fortune.

In the latest twist regarding Dre’s personal life, his eldest daughter has come forward to reveal she has not seen her famous father in over 17 years.

Dre fathered LaTanya Young with his ex-girlfriend Lisa Johnson 37 years ago. The rap mogul split up with Johnson when LaTanya was just five years old. Dre also had two other children with Lisa Johnson: Latoya, 36, and Ashley who is 35-years-old.

“If I needed him, I’d have to go to the studio and get bombarded and talked to by his security. I would have to go through his accountant or his right hand man, I would never know whether he got my messages. I have never had a direct line to him,” LaTanya Young told The DailyMail.

According to LaTanya, Nicole Young helped drive a wedge in between Dre and his estranged children. She recounted a story of going to see her famous father at his mansion and Nicole threatened to call the cops because Dre was sleeping.

And after they finally awakened the sleeping giant, Dre flew into a rage.

“She eventually got him and he said: ‘When I’m sleeping, I’m sleeping, I don’t care if Jesus is at the door, I’m sleeping,” according to LaTanya.

To make matters worse, she claims Dre has never even met his three biological grandchildren.

LaTanya said she is not trying to call out Dre, and she is not after his fortune, even though she has struggled to stay afloat over the years, by accepting public assistance, and working a variety of odd jobs. She is currently training to be a nurse.

According to LaTanya, she believes the split with Nicole could be good for Dre’s extended family and could even pave the way for them to reunite.

Cardi B Planning Kid Life Coach For Baby Kulture Over Trolls

Hip-Hop superstar Cardi B is determined to ensure her daughter learns all about racial injustice so she understands “how the world really is.”

The New York native shares two-year-old Kulture with her husband Offset, and although the youngster leads a privileged lifestyle because of her parents’ wealth, the “WAP” hitmaker wants to make it clear that being rich won’t keep her safe from trouble.

She told Billboard magazine: “My daughter came out of my p#### rich. She lives a different lifestyle than I lived.

“This girl gets in a pool every single day; I can’t swim because I barely went to the pool (growing up)… I want her to know that just because you have money, that doesn’t mean you’re super-privileged.”

“Even me with her dad, we have had really bad experiences with police, and we’re rich and famous,” Cardi continued. “I want her to know that you’re not going to be an exception. I want her to have compassion. I don’t want her to ever have the mentality of, ‘This doesn’t apply to me.'”

Another big concern for Cardi is what will happen when Kulture is old enough to read negative comments about her family online.

“I’m a little scared that she gets to read nasty comments, but I don’t know how I’m gonna be able to control it,” she said.

“I heard about a celebrity who gives their kid life coaching on how to love themselves and not let people break them. Hopefully, I can do the same thing. I always want her to know that she’s beautiful.”

Cardi added, “She knows what type of person I am, and when she gets older, clearly she’s gonna hear me expressing myself because we live in the same damn house. I just want her to know: I might be a little crazy, but I have a good heart and I love her. I want her to be confident always.

“Don’t let one comment break you and make you feel like you’re not that girl. You that girl.”

EXCLUSIVE: Read The Complete List Of Crimes Allegedly Committed By Casanova And The Untouchable Gorilla Stone Nation

The Feds Indictment charges rap star Casanova the Gorilla Stone defendants with a litany of crimes committed in furtherance of their joint enterprise. The charges include racketeering conspiracy, a large-scale narcotics conspiracy, firearms offenses, fraud, and, significantly, several acts of violence.

Casanova has entered into a not guilty plea, as have all of the defendants listed below.

The violent acts charged in the Indictment include a murder, two attempted murders, two gunpoint drug robberies, and a brutal slashing. The evidence in this case is compelling. Through the course of this investigation, law enforcement obtained six Title III orders for interception of communications over four phones belonging to defendants Naya Austin, a/k/a “Baby,” Ahmed Walker, a/k/a “Ammo,” Christopher Erskine, a/k/a “Beagle,” and Walter Luster, a/k/a “Shells.”

The majority of the defendants in this case were intercepted discussing the Gorilla Stone enterprise over these wiretaps. And for all defendants, law enforcement was able to obtain direct evidence of the charged crimes through dozens of social media warrants, cellphone extractions, recorded prison calls, surveillance video and cellphone location data, and post-arrest interviews. Put simply, the evidence in this case— some of which is discussed below—in large measure, is made up of the defendants’ own words, writings, and recorded criminal acts.

The Origin Of The Untouchable Gorilla Stone Nation

Gorilla Stone is a violent street gang with a national presence that was founded by Dwight Reid, a/k/a “Dick Wolf.” Gorilla Stone has hundreds of members across New York State, including in all five boroughs of New York City, throughout the New York State Prison System, and across the country—most notably in Florida and North Carolina.

Gorilla Stone is comprised of eight different sets (or “Caves” as they are called by gang members). Each Cave has its own leadership hierarchy, and reports up to the respective leaders of their particular Cave. Gorilla
Stone, like most other Bloods street gangs, has two separate hierarchical rank structures: a “Prison Lineup” for Gorilla Stone members in the prison system and the “Street Lineup,” i.e., members of Gorilla Stone that are not incarcerated.

Dwight Reid, a/k/a “Dick Wolf”

Reid founded Gorilla Stone and still serves as the gang’s leader. Reid is currently incarcerated on a fifty-year-to-life sentence for a 2014 murder he committed by shooting a victim at point blank range in the head. Through the course of this investigation, law enforcement has
learned that Reid still maintains an iron grip over Gorilla Stone from behind bars, including the gang’s lucrative narcotics distribution operating in New York City and Upstate New York, as well as the gang’s various fraud schemes.

Reid is charged in the following counts:
Count One (Racketeering Conspiracy);
Count Thirteen (Narcotics Conspiracy); and
Count Fourteen (Possession of Firearms in Furtherance of Narcotics Conspiracy and Aiding and Abetting the Same)

Christopher Erskine, a/k/a “Beagle”

Erskine is the highest-ranking street leader of Gorilla Stone. Through wiretaps of Erskine’s phone, the Government has learned that Erskine’s role transcends the Cave structure described above. Erskine occupies a unique position as the gang’s street leader that Erskine and other gang members refer to as the “Sun.” Erskine has been captured on wiretaps admitting to his role in the Gorilla Stone enterprise, saying on one recording: “Until Wolf [Dwight Reid] take me off this s###, I’m supposed to have the streets.”

Erskine has repeatedly made clear, over wiretaps, that violence is what fuels Gorilla Stone—and what allows one to advance through its ranks. In a recording where Erskine and defendant Walter Luster are discussing leadership roles for other gang members, Erskine expressed
disappointment that a leadership candidate did not reach for a gun during a dispute, which proved to him (Erskine) that the individual “wasn’t sturdy.”

Similarly, Erskine was intercepted discussing defendant Stephen Hugh’s arrest on state charges for a New Rochelle shooting Erskine believed that not putting up the entirety of Hugh’s bail out of the gang’s collective fund (“kitty”) would allow Hugh to “get his name up” in prison by “slap[ping] a couple n*ggas in the face.” Thus, Erskine believed Hugh’s standing in the gang could be benefited through acts of violence in prison. This particular axiom of Gorilla Stone – that a member can increase his or her standing through acts of violence against rivals—is reflected on numerous recorded prison calls made by Gorilla Stone members that were reviewed as part of this investigation.

Erskine’s leadership role, and emphasis on violence, has meant that other, more junior members of Gorilla Stone have turned to him to authorize acts of violence. In one interception, another member of Gorilla Stone pleads with Erskine to give him authorization to commit an act of violence.

Erskine agrees that an act of violence is warranted and says “Knock him out you gotta knock him out.” Erskine’s leadership role extends to the gang’s expansive narcotics distribution business. In the course of this investigation, the Government has learned that Erskine acts as one of the
gang’s primary suppliers of cocaine and crack cocaine. In addition, over the course of the wiretap on Erskine’s phone, Erskine has been intercepted discussing drug debts and payments he is owed.

This conduct is all the more troubling considering Erskine’s age—he is 37 years’ old—and has two prior felony convictions for narcotics trafficking. Erskine faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison, and qualifies as a Career Offender under the United States Sentencing Guidelines given his two prior felony narcotics convictions. Erskine is charged in the following counts:

Count One (Racketeering Conspiracy);
Count Eleven (Possession with Intent to Distribute 28 grams and more of Crack Cocaine);
Count Thirteen (Narcotics Conspiracy); and
Count Fourteen (Possession of Firearms in Furtherance of Narcotics Conspiracy and Aiding and Abetting the Same)

Walter Luster, a/k/a “Shells”

Luster is a leader of the Money Gang Cave of Gorilla Stone During the investigation, as described above, law enforcement obtained a wiretap of Luster’s phone. Over that wiretap, Luster was captured boasting about his violent tendencies, saying in a conversation with defendant Deshawn Thomas that he was “thirsty for someone to give me reason to clap ‘em.” He also admitted to ordering an act of violence on a recorded call. Again, speaking with Thomas, Luster talked about how it was important to maintain high standards with defendant Reid. A benefit of that, as Luster explained, was that sometimes they could get away with “a bad call.” An example of a bad call Luster gave Thomas was a prior decision Luster made to “clap his [Reid’s] man.”

Luster explained that he was able to get away with that because of the services he provides to Reid. Luster’s admissions about his “thirst[]” for violence and his ordering of previous acts of violence are punctuated by his open carrying of firearms. Below is a photo from Luster’s Instagram account, posted in July 2020, which depicts him with what appears to be an automatic firearm:

Luster’s admissions over recorded calls did not stop with just violence. Luster had detailed conversations about the pricing of narcotics. In addition, Luster was captured bragging about the scope of his narcotics trafficking, saying that he was able to afford new jewelry during the COVID19 pandemic because he was working hard “outside” and “in the streets.” Luster, like Erskine, is 37 years’ old, and also has two prior felony convictions (one for narcotics). Luster faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison. Luster is charged in the following counts:

Count One (Racketeering Conspiracy);
Count Thirteen (Narcotics Conspiracy); and
Count Fourteen (Possession of Firearms in Furtherance of Narcotics Conspiracy and Aiding and Abetting the Same)

Deshawn Thomas, a/k/a “Don”

Thomas is a leader of the Immortal Stone Gorilla Gang Cave in Gorilla Stone, otherwise known as the “Goons.” Thomas recently received the leadership mantle for the Goons. In a recorded prison call from October 6, 2020, he tells a Gorilla Stone inmate that he “got a promotion” and gives the inmate “72 hours” to make up his mind on whether that inmate wanted to join Thomas in the Goons.

On October 14, 2020, a .40 caliber firearm was found in Thomas’s car after a traffic stop in Queens. During that traffic stop, three cellphones were seized and the Government subsequently applied for warrants for all three cellphones. Three things became apparent from review of those cellphone extractions.

First, Thomas is a prolific narcotics trafficker. One of the seized cellphones primarily contains discussions pertaining to narcotics trafficking.

Second, Thomas—much like Erskine—appeared to promote and appreciate violence by those under him in Gorilla Stone. There were several saved videos on one of Thomas’s cellphones from other gang members depicting gang assaults, including one by defendant Soto described below. And, in fact, Soto reaches out to Thomas after a murder for assistance, as also described below.

Third, and perhaps most troublingly, Thomas is intimately involved in providing firearms to other Gorilla Stone members. As described in that Complaint, Thomas ordered several weapons from a Florida-based Gorilla Stone member and appears to collect orders from other Gorilla Stone members. Thomas faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison. Thomas is charged in the following counts:

Count One (Racketeering Conspiracy);
Count Thirteen (Narcotics Conspiracy); and
Count Fourteen (Possession of Firearms in Furtherance of Narcotics Conspiracy and Aiding and Abetting the Same)

Naya Austin, a/k/a “Baby”

Austin serves as the “God Mother,” or highest-ranking female member of the Gorilla Stone Reign Cave. Title III wiretaps on Austin’s cellphone in June and July 2020 revealed numerous conversations regarding her high-level participation in Gorilla Stone, and a significant amount of narcotics trafficking, which is corroborated by the more than 100 grams of crack cocaine that have been purchased directly from Austin in video- and audio-recorded buys.

In addition to being one of the most prolific drug dealers for the gang, Austin is also charged with committing a brazen gunpoint robbery of a drug dealer at a hotel in Peekskill, New York on June 12, 2020.

After the robbery, Austin was captured over the wiretap on her phone discussing the robbery and whether or not the victim of the robbery was planning a retaliatory attack. Austin and defendant Roberta Sligh were also captured on surveillance video savagely beating a victim outside a gas station in Peekskill, New York on April 9, 2020, as described further below.

Austin has also been captured, through the wiretaps on her phone, and cellphone extractions, admitting to possessing several firearms. In one interception, Austin is heard admitting that she had a “pearly white” AR-15. And in a text message reviewed from a cellphone extraction, Austin appears to be looking for a pistol with a laser sight which she could not locate (“You ever see a grip with a laser at kk house?”). Austin’s propensity for violent conduct extends beyond Gorilla Stone, as reflected in recorded calls, to include a shooting as part of a road rage incident on August 2, 2020.

Specifically, Austin admitted to shooting at an individual in front of a house party in the early morning hours of August 2, 2020 in Peekskill, New York (during the call captured over the wiretap, Austin specifically said that she fired two shots). Although the Government believes this particular shooting has no connection to Gorilla Stone, it does show that Austin is incredibly violent. Austin faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 24 years in prison. Austin is charged in the following counts:

Count One (Racketeering Conspiracy);
Count Five (Assault with a Dangerous Weapon in Aid of Racketeering)
Count Six (Possessing and Brandishing a Firearm in Furtherance of Count Five)
Count Ten (Possession with Intent to Distribute 28 grams and more of Crack Cocaine);
Count Eleven (Possession with Intent to Distribute 28 grams and more of Crack Cocaine);
Count Thirteen (Narcotics Conspiracy);
Count Fourteen (Possession of Firearms in Furtherance of Narcotics Conspiracy and Aiding and Abetting the Same); and
Count Sixteen (Aggravated Identity Theft)

Brandon Nieves, a/k/a “Untouchable Dot”

Nieves is the co-Godfather of Gorilla Stone Reign (one of the Eight Caves that comprise Gorilla Stone), along with Erskine, and has been a high-ranking member of Gorilla Stone since at least 2013. Nieves was charged in a Gorilla Stone case in 2015 in Bronx County, New York. In that case, Nieves ultimately pled guilty to ordering a stabbing in prison in furtherance of Gorilla Stone, which was captured over a recorded call on a wiretap. Nieves is still on New York State Parole for this felony conviction.

During this investigation, which is particularly troubling given Nieves’s history, law enforcement reviewed a prison call on November 11, 2019 where Nieves and Erskine discuss with a Gorilla Stone inmate (“Inmate-1”) the fact that Inmate-1 is “going to shoot” (a common reference to a stabbing in prison) any Gorilla Stone members violating gang rules in prison.

Nieves has also been captured over Title III wiretaps in this case having detailed discussions with Walker about narcotics trafficking, as well as calls with Erskine and Walker about Gorilla Stone activity. Nieves faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison. Nieves is charged in the following counts:

Count One (Racketeering Conspiracy);
Count Thirteen (Narcotics Conspiracy); and
Count Fourteen (Possession of Firearms in Furtherance of Narcotics Conspiracy and Aiding and Abetting the Same)

Ahmed Walker, a/k/a “Ammo”

Walker is an enforcer and drug dealer for Gorilla Stone. He has been captured over wiretaps describing how he strictly enforces requirements on more junior members of Gorilla Stone, “wip[ing]” them “down”—or kicking them out—for not knowing gang rules and regulations and not letting junior members enter gang meetings if they forgot the Gorilla Stone “oath.” As described in more detail below, Walker appears to have ordered a retaliatory act of violence in New Rochelle which was undertaken by defendant Stephen Hugh, a/k/a “Chino.”

Walker has also been intercepted discussing his own acts of violence. In one intercepted conversation, Walker admitted that he “w[on] [his] way in the crowd by being a shooter.” Indeed, Walker has a prior federal gun conviction, which he was convicted of after trial in the Middle District of Pennsylvania in 2003. Walker is currently on Federal Probation after that conviction—and a conviction for narcotics conspiracy as part of the same case in the Middle District of Pennsylvania.

Despite being under court supervision, Walker is charged with those same crimes, in addition to being charged with being a leader in the Gorilla Stone conspiracy. Walker faces a mandatory minimum of sentence of 35 years in prison.

Walker is currently charged in the following counts:
Count One (Racketeering Conspiracy);
Count Thirteen (Narcotics Conspiracy); and
Count Fourteen (Possession of Firearms in Furtherance of Narcotics Conspiracy And Aiding and Abetting the Same)

Caswell Senior, a/k/a “Casanova”

Senior is a rapper of some notoriety. Using his public platform, he has amplified the message of the gang—both through his music and his social media profiles. For example, he appeared on a gang anthem this summer, “Big Ape,” which has garnered over 1.8 million views on YouTube since June 3. Defendants Luster, Thomas, and Brinae Thornton, a/k/a “Luxury,” all appear in the video and—alongside defendant Reid—are mentioned in the song’s lyrics.

In addition, he has used his Instagram page to pay homage to the gang, posting the below photos demonstrating his allegiance to Gorilla Stone.

Senior has closely coordinated his artistic endeavors to benefit the gang. For example, over recorded prison calls, the Government has learned that defendant Reid shares in some of Senior’s earnings.

Senior has also relied on Gorilla Stone members for protection. In wire intercepts, defendant Luster is recorded admitting that Senior has called upon him to provide protection and firearms (“hammers”) while Senior was traveling across the country. Senior’s pending robbery charge—the underlying conduct for which was captured on high-quality surveillance video—in New York County Supreme Court provides a concrete example of how he has relied on the gang for acts of violence.

In clear surveillance video, taken from a diner in Manhattan in August 2018, Senior is seen lunging across a table for a victim’s cellphone. A scuffle ensues and eventually a fellow Gorilla Stone member, Bobby Williams, places the victim in a chokehold until the victim lost consciousness and is dropped to the floor.

EXCLUSIVE: Woman Who Blamed Casanova For Breaking Her Jaw Drops Lawsuit

Senior has also personally committed acts of violence. In addition to his current open robbery charge, Senior has twice been convicted of Robbery in the First Degree. In public interviews, he has admitted to stabbing inmates while incarcerated on those charges. And the Government has recovered photos from his iCloud account of several firearms, demonstrating his continued access to weapons.

In addition to publicly promoting the gang and glorifying its activities, Senior is also a drug supplier for Gorilla Stone. Through direct Instagram messages and iMessages, obtained through search warrants, the Government has learned that Senior uses gang members, including both Naya Austin and Brandon Soto, a/k/a “Stacks,” to sell drugs throughout New York. Austin, as described above, and Soto, as described directly below, are two of the gang’s most violent members and prolific drug dealers.

Senior faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison and—because of his prior violent felony convictions—is a Career Offender under the Guidelines. Senior is charged in the following counts:

Count One (Racketeering Conspiracy);
Count Thirteen (Narcotics Conspiracy); and
Count Fourteen (Possession of Firearms in Furtherance of Narcotics Conspiracy and Aiding and Abetting the Same)

Brandon Soto, a/k/a “Stacks”

Soto is a high-ranking member of Gorilla Stone based in Poughkeepsie. Soto is charged with participating in the September 21, 2020 murder of a 15-year-old on a busy street in Poughkeepsie. Messages recovered from Soto’s Instagram account and other cellphones show that he was instrumental in planning the murder. Soto explicitly told other members that he (Soto) “pushed the button”—a common phrase Gorilla Stone members use to describe committing or ordering an act of violence—days after the member of a rival gang stabbed somebody under Soto in the Gorilla Stone hierarchy.

Soto also drove the shooter to the location of the shooting, and two days after the murder, Soto texted defendant Thomas to delete the shooter’s Instagram Account. A vehicle Soto has used to sell narcotics was captured on surveillance video near the scene of the murder dropping off the shooter. Cellphone location data and license plate reader
information shows that Soto drove that vehicle into Brooklyn the night of the murder.

The vehicle was eventually towed to an impound lot on September 25 by the New York City Police Department. After the vehicle was towed, on September 25, Soto sent panicked messages to Thomas: “I need some assistance out here…,” followed by “Idk what else to do.” Shortly after these messages, the vehicle was stolen out of the impound lot and set on fire in a secluded part of Upper Manhattan, as depicted below:

In addition to his participation in this horrific murder, the Government has also recovered several videos of gang assaults Soto has committed. In one particularly gruesome beating, Soto is seen beating a helpless victim (who appears to be unconscious after the severe beating) while screaming “YOU’RE NOT GORILLA.” And finally, Instagram messages between Soto and defendant Austin demonstrate his access to firearms: in a message in response to Austin’s search for a firearm, Soto responds by calling himself “Mr. Duffle,” duffle being Gorilla Stone’s code word for guns. Soto faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison. Soto is charged in the following counts:

Count One (Racketeering Conspiracy);
Count Two (Travel Act Murder);
Count Twelve (Possession with Intent to Distribute 28 grams and more crack cocaine);
Count Thirteen (Narcotics Conspiracy); and
Count Fourteen (Possession of Firearms in Furtherance of Narcotics Conspiracy and Aiding and Abetting the Same)

Dezon Washington, a/k/a “Blakk”

Washington is a Peekskill-based member of Gorilla Stone. Among the conduct Washington is charged with is a gunpoint drug robbery in a Peekskill hotel room where the victim was savagely beaten. Evidence of the violent nature of the robbery was found at the crime scene:

Washington has also been intercepted over wiretaps discussing how he could help Austin acquire firearms (“duffles”). His role as a procurer of firearms has also been corroborated by screenshots he has sent Austin of websites selling firearms. Washington faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 22 years in prison, and is charged in the following counts:

Count One (Racketeering Conspiracy);
Count Five (Violent Crime in Aid of Racketeering);
Count Six (Possession and Brandishing a Firearm in Relation to Count Five);
Count Thirteen (Narcotics Conspiracy); and
Count Fourteen (Possession of Firearms in Furtherance of Narcotics Conspiracy and Aiding and Abetting the Same)

Robert Woods, a/k/a “Blakk Rob”

Woods is a particularly violent member of Gorilla Stone and, among other acts of violence, committed a brutal slashing of a victim in January 2018 (the “Slashing”). The wound from the Slashing stretched the entire left side of the victim’s face, completely mutilating it. Woods was proud that he committed the Slashing: over his Instagram account, which the Government obtained pursuant to a search warrant, Woods sent a picture of the victim’s face after the slashing to defendant Luster. Luster responded with a flexed muscle emoji, appearing to congratulate Woods on this gruesome act of violence that Woods committed for the gang. Woods was charged with the Slashing in New York County Supreme Court, and was released on bail in that case.

Wire intercepts have also confirmed that Woods has gotten into violent encounters with other Gorilla Stone members, and even Luster has commented that Woods is difficult to control. In addition to violence, Woods also deals drugs and engages in fraud schemes for the gang, as reflected in messages from his Instagram account.

Woods currently faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison for the conduct he is charged with. Woods is charged in the following counts:

Count One (Racketeering Conspiracy);
Count Nine (Violent Crime in Aid of Racketeering);
Count Thirteen (Narcotics Conspiracy); and
Count Fourteen (Possession of Firearms in Furtherance of Narcotics Conspiracy And Aiding and Abetting the Same)

Stephen Hugh, a/k/a “Chino”

Hugh is a member of Gorilla Stone from Westchester County. Based on extractions from his cellphone and Austin’s cellphone, Hugh was intimately involved with crack cocaine distribution across Westchester County. He has also undertaken, as charged in the Indictment, violent acts to cement his status in Gorilla Stone. On July 20, 2020, surveillance video captured muzzle flashes from a car associated with Hugh at an intersection in New Rochelle. Shell casings were recovered from the scene of the shooting after it happened.

In text messages recovered from Hugh’s phone, approximately 30 minutes after the shooting, Hugh texts another member of Gorilla Stone: “Tell Ammo [defendant Walker] it’s situated.” Hugh followed that message up with: “I would never want to bring di[s]grace to the family you heard.” In other words, Hugh appears to admit to carrying out the shooting at Walker’s behest to defend Gorilla Stone’s reputation. Hugh’s admissions did not end there. In text messages the next day (July 21) to defendant Washington, Hugh brags that he: “pushed the button last night.” And two days later, on July 22, Hugh tells another individual: “I had to bang at some n*ggas.”

Hugh committed the shooting as retaliation for being robbed in June 2020 by rival Crips gang members in New Rochelle. This robbery was discussed by fellow Gorilla Stone members and the discussion was captured on wiretaps and recorded prison calls. Hugh faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 25 years in prison. Hugh is charged in the following counts:

Count One (Racketeering Conspiracy);
Count Three (Violent Crime in Aid of Racketeering);
Count Four (Possession and Discharge of a Firearm in Relation to Count Three);
Count Thirteen (Narcotics Conspiracy); and
Count Fourteen (Possession of Firearms in Furtherance of Narcotics Conspiracy and Aiding and Abetting the Same)

Jordan Ingram, a/k/a “Flow”

Jordan Ingram, a/k/a “Flow,” is a Peekskill-based member of Gorilla Stone. Evidence uncovered over the course of the investigation has shown that he works closely with defendant Austin to move large quantities of crack cocaine in the Peekskill area. He is also charged with carrying out the gunpoint robbery with Austin and Washington, which is described above.

Ingram also appears to be a conduit to acquire weapons for Gorilla Stone. In an interception over Austin’s phone, Ingram (using Austin’s phone) was intercepted calling a gun store in Pennsylvania and asking “if I were coming in to purchase a weapon is there a waiting process?” Messages extracted from Austin’s phone appear to confirm that Austin and Ingram did, in fact, travel together to purchase a firearm in Pennsylvania.

Ingram faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 22 years in prison, and is charged in the following counts:

Count One (Racketeering Conspiracy);
Count Five (Violent Crime in Aid of Rackeeteering);
Count Six (Possession and Brandishing of a Firearm in Relation to Count Five);
Count Eleven (Possession with Intent to Distribute 28 grams and more of Crack Cocaine);
Count Thirteen (Narcotics Conspiracy); and
Count Fourteen (Possession of Firearms in Furtherance of Narcotics Conspiracy and Aiding and Abetting the Same)

Shanay Outlaw, a/k/a “Easy”

Outlaw helps manage Gorilla Stone’s finances. Erskine was intercepted over wiretaps turning to Outlaw for exact figures in the gang’s collective pot, or “kitty.” In addition, through cellphone extractions and records from the New York State Department of Labor, the Government learned that Outlaw worked with Austin to file several fraudulent unemployment
applications with the DOL.

Additional wiretaps confirmed that this fraud scheme was pervasive throughout the gang’s ranks. The gang’s financial sophistication spreads beyond that. Outlaw was involved—as were several of the defendants—in a fraudulent 501(c)(3) principally run by defendant Erskine called: Determined Adults Exceedingly Motivating Peers Into Responsible Entrepreneurs (“D.A. E.M.P.I.R.E.”).

“Empire” is a common greeting amongst Gorilla Stone members. D.A. E.M.P.I.R.E., as described over wiretaps and recorded jail calls, was designed to take advantage of non-profit grants to benefit gang members. In one particularly telling call between Erskine and defendant Reid: “Your wife, me, everybody else, we need to get paid the correct amount of bread and the only way we going to do that is through donations and grants. And then your wife, she don’t have to worry about working and none of that. You ain’t got to worry about s### like that no more.”

In other words, Erskine explicitly admits that getting grants into D.A. E.M.P.I.R.E. meant that gang members, not the broader community, would benefit. In short, Gorilla Stone has sophisticated financial operations for a street gang. Outlaw has access to, and knowledge of, the significant, collective resources of the gang. A strict bail package, including home incarceration, is warranted to ensure her appearance in court.

Isaiah Santos, a/k/a “Zay”

Santos is a Gorilla Stone member based out of Manhattan. His primary role for the gang is dealing narcotics, including significant quantities of marijuana. The organized nature of his operation is reflected in precise pricing lists he has provided to customers, which were recovered by law enforcement from his iCloud account pursuant to a warrant. In addition, and disturbingly, Santos had several pictures of firearms stored in his iCloud. Perhaps most troublingly is the picture of a firearm with a silencer attached:

Santos is also charged with using firearms in the course of drug robberies. On February 2, 2020, during a drug deal where the customer refused to pay Santos, Santos robbed the customer and brandished his gun while threatening the customer. Days after the robbery, in text messages recovered from Santos’s iCloud, Santos appears to admit to the robbery saying: “he bought that and he can’t pay me.”

Santos was originally charged with this robbery in February 2020. He was bailed in that case and since that time, based on his iCloud return, it appears that he has not stopped selling narcotics. This is borne out by the fact that he was arrested for narcotics trafficking just a short while ago on October 24, 2020. Even after this latest arrest, based on information provided to the Government from a confidential informant, Santos has continued to traffic in narcotics. Santos faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 17 years in prison. Santos is charged in the following counts:

Count One (Racketeering Conspiracy);
Count Thirteen (Narcotics Conspiracy); and
Count Fifteen (Possession and Brandishing of a Firearm in Relation to Count Thirteen)

Roberta Sligh, a/k/a “Trouble”

Sligh is a Peekskill-based member of Gorilla Stone and close associate of defendant Austin. Cellphone extractions and social media search warrants have made plain that Sligh is intimately involved in moving large amounts of crack cocaine in the Peekskill community with Austin, which has had a devastating impact in that small community. In addition, cellphone extractions have shown Austin and Sligh exchanging surveillance video of a brutal beating of a Victim outside a convenience store on April 9, 2020 in the early evening hours.

During that video, Austin and Sligh are seen dragging an individual out of a convenience store while viciously beating the Victim. A third individual is depicted beating the Victim with a tire iron. Sligh has also exchanged messages with guns and, in one particularly telling exchange, Austin sent Sligh a screenshot of a conversation between her (Austin) and Washington about firearms available for purchase through a website.

Sligh has undertaken the charged conduct while under the supervision of Westchester County Probation. Sligh is currently serving a five-year term of probation after being convicted of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree in January 2020 after being arrested with a handgun in Peekskill.

In the aftermath of that arrest, Sligh proudly boasted to a Peekskill detective, in a recorded, post-arrest, post-Miranda interview, that she was a member of Gorilla Stone. And it was only months later that Sligh was seemingly looking for another firearm in the conversation discussed above. Sligh faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison. Sligh is charged in the following counts:

Count One (Racketeering Conspiracy);
Count Thirteen (Narcotics Conspiracy); and
Count Fourteen (Possession of Firearms in Furtherance of Narcotics Conspiracy and Aiding and Abetting the Same)

Brinae Thornton, a/k/a “Luxury”

Thornton is a Godmother of the Money Gang Cave of Gorilla Stone, making her the highest ranking female member of that Cave. Over social media and music videos, Thornton has been active in promoting the gang. Thornton’s Instagram account also shows she is part and parcel of the gang’s narcotics trafficking and, in fact, has had resale quantities of crack cocaine seized from her in July 2019.

Thornton also lives the gang’s violent ethos. On August 8, 2018, Thornton was captured on surveillance video handing off a gun to a fellow gang member. That gang member, in turn, fires several rounds in the middle of a crowded Brooklyn street in the early evening hours. Thornton was later arrested in possession of the gun that was used during the August 8 shooting, which was confirmed through a ballistics match.

Thornton faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 25 years in prison. Thornton is charged in the following counts:

Count One (Racketeering Conspiracy);
Count Seven (Violent Crime in Aid of Racketeering);
Count Eight (Possession and Discharge of a Firearm in Relation to Count Seven);
Count Thirteen (Narcotics Conspiracy); and
Count Fourteen (Possession of Firearms in Furtherance of Narcotics Conspiracy and Aiding and Abetting the Same)

Jamal Trent, a/k/a “Trap Smoke”

Trent is a supplier of crack cocaine to Westchester-based members of Gorilla Stone. Specifically, defendants Austin and Hugh have turned to Trent several times to acquire crack cocaine (“arod”). Trent appears to be important to their supply of crack cocaine, and Austin and Hugh, over text messages, have had detailed discussions about the quality of Trent’s supply.

Trent and Austin have also discussed other narcotics they could traffic together. In messages recovered from cellphone extractions, Trent and Austin discussed in detail a synthetic drug they could make, using either a combination of ketamine or morphine and K2. Trent also appears to have messaged Austin photographs of weapons he wished to acquire.

In May of this year, Trent messaged Austin a photograph and a link to a firearm from www.grabagun.com. Trent’s apparent desire to acquire a firearm is particularly concerning. Trent has two prior convictions for illegal firearms possession. He is also currently on New York State parole for one of those firearms possession charges. In other words, Trent is trafficking in large amounts of narcotics and seeking to acquire weapons while on parole for having illegally possessed a firearm.

Trent faces a mandatory minimum sentence of 10 years in prison, on powerful proof, and is charged in Count Thirteen of the Indictment.

Jay-Z, Will Smith Give Up Coming Actor A Shot In New Emmett Till Movie

The rap stars have picked the person who will play Emmett Till in a new limited series scheduled to drop in 2021.

Unknown actor Cedric Joe has landed the coveted role of Emmett Till in the limited series “Women of the Movement,” produced by Jay-Z and Will Smith.

The six-episode series, set to premiere in 2021, will revolve around Till’s mother, Mamie Till-Mobley, who devoted her life to seeking justice for her teenage son following his murder in the mid-1950s.

The 14-year-old Chicago native was killed by white supremacists while vacationing with his family in Mississippi.

His brutal death prompted Mamie to launch the Civil Rights Movement as we know it today.

Joe, who will also appear in the upcoming “Space Jam” revamp, “A New Legacy,” won the role of Till following a nationwide search to find a young African-American actor who could embody the tragic character.

Adrienne Warren will play Till’s mother and Niecy Nash co-stars as Alma, the boy’s grandmother.

“Women of the Movement” is inspired by Devery S. Anderson’s book “Emmett Till: The Murder That Shocked the World and Propelled the Civil Rights Movement.”

G Herbo Surrenders To The Feds In Los Angeles Over Luxury Jet Scam

Rapper G Herbo has turned himself in to Los Angeles authorities after proclaiming his innocence relating to federal fraud charges.

The Chicago, Illinois native, who was just named to Forbes magazine’s 30 Under 30 list of influential young stars, stands accused of one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, and two counts of aiding and abetting aggravated identity theft as part of an alleged four-year scam involving the use of stolen credit cards.

On Wednesday, a representative for Herbo, real name Herbert Randall Wright III, denied the criminal claims, which were filed in Massachusetts.

His management insists the rising rapper “looks forward to establishing his innocence in court,” and on Thursday morning, he surrendered to cops in Los Angeles.

The “PTSD” star is alleged to have worked with his music promoter Antonio Strong and various other members of his crew to defraud numerous business owners with the stolen methods of payment.

Strong was arrested in September and charged with a string of crimes, including wire fraud.

Rico Nasty Releases Debut Album ‘Nightmare Vacation’ Featuring Gucci Mane, Trippie Redd & More

DMV-raised recording artist Rico Nasty has finally let loose her debut studio album via Atlantic Records. The 16-track Nightmare Vacation landed on DSPs on Friday morning.

For Nightmare Vacation, Rico decided to embrace her unfiltered, punk personality while also adopting the visual cues of Hip Hop legends such as Missy Elliott and Busta Rhymes for her videos. Official visuals for “iPhone,” “Own I,” “OHFR?” and “S###” are now available on YouTube and other platforms.

Rico Nasty recently discussed how half of Nightmare Vacation was made after the start of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdown. The album’s title derives from the 23-year-old performer having to deal with a personal lack of confidence and mounting public pressure but still coming out the other end of those experiences as a rockstar.

Nightmare Vacation features the Kenny Beats-produced “Smack a B#### (Remix)” with rising female rappers ppcocaine, Sukihana, and Rubi Rose. Rico also linked up with male rappers Gucci Mane, Don Toliver, Trippie Redd, and Aminé and for various tracks on the LP.

While embracing her femininity through her art as well as her Il Makiage makeup line, the Maryland native wants it to be known that she can hang with the men in Hip Hop. Rico stated, “Yes, I am going as hard as all of these dudes are. Yes, I am loud. If you’re female, get some confidence from what I’m doing. I’m the representation of a lot of girls who don’t get love.”

Cardi B Becomes First Female Rapper To Have Two Songs Certified 9x-Platinum

While only being a mainstream recording artist for just three years, Cardi B has already achieved numerous history-making accolades. She holds the female rap records for most #1 Hot 100 singles (4), longest-charting album (138 weeks), first solo Grammy win for Best Rap Album, most-streamed album on Spotify, and more.

Cardi has added another major milestone to her many career accomplishments. The Bronx-raised entertainer is now the first and only female rapper to have two songs earn 9x-Platinum certification (9 million units sold) by the Recording Industry Association of America.

The chart-topping “Bodak Yellow” earned a 9x-Platinum plaque in September 2019. On December 2 of this year, the RIAA also awarded 9x-Platinum to Cardi’s “I Like It” with Bad Bunny and J Balvin. Both tracks appear on 2018’s 3x-Platinum Invasion of Privacy album.

Cardi B is just the second Hip Hop artist in history two have at least two records with 9x-Platinum prestige. Detroit rap legend Eminem has three songs on that list – “Love The Way You Lie” featuring Rihanna (12x), “Not Afraid” (10x), and “Lose Yourself” (10x).

In total, only 12 rap acts have at least one single cross the 9x-Platinum mark. Lil Nas X’s “Old Town Road” featuring Billy Ray Cyrus leads the pack with a 13x-Platinum certification. Drake’s “God’s Plan,” Pharrell Williams’s “Happy,” and Wiz Khalifa’s “See You Again” featuring Charlie Puth each currently sit at 11x-Platinum.

Other RIAA Diamond (10 million units) award recipients include Fetty Wap for “Trap Queen,” Macklemore & Ryan Lewis for “Thrift Shop,” and Post Malone for “Congratulations.” Additionally, Flo Rida’s “Low,” Kanye West’s “Stronger,” and XXXTentacion’s “Sad!” are certified 9x-Platinum.

Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, and Rihanna are the only other female artists besides Cardi B to have multiple 9x-Platinum singles. Perry’s “Firework” (12x), “Dark Horse” (11x), and “Roar” (10x) as well as Lady Gaga’s “Bad Romance” (11x), “Poker Face” (11x), and “Just Dance” (9x) make the list.

Rihanna’s feature on Eminem’s “Love The Way You Lie” (12x) and the R&B/Pop singer’s “We Found Love” (9x) put her in line with Cardi’s total. Bebe Rexha, Carly Rae Jepsen, Lorde, Meghan Trainor, Taylor Swift, and Camilla Cabello each have one song at 9x-Platinum or higher.

Cardi B could have even more 9x-Platinum songs in the near future. Maroon 5’s “Girls Like You” featuring the 28-year-old rhymer is presently certified 8x-Platinum. Plus, Cardi’s “WAP” featuring Megan Thee Stallion has gained a 3x-Platinum plaque after only being released four months ago.

Billboard Lists The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” As The No. 1 Hot 100 Song Of 2020

The Recording Academy may have snubbed The Weeknd’s global smash hit “Blind Lights” for Grammy nominations, but the commerical success of the song cannot be denied. In fact, Billboard listed the After Hours track as the most popular single in America for 2020.

“Blinding Lights” sits atop the year-end Hot 100 chart. This achievement came after the song spent four weeks at #1 on the weekly Hot 100 in April and May. This year, “Blinding Lights” also broke the all-time records for the most weeks in the Top 5 and the Top 10.

Post Malone’s “Circles” came in at #2 on the final Hot 100 Song Of The Year rankings. Roddy Ricch’s “The Box” (#3), Dua Lipa’s “Don’t Start Now” (#4), and DaBaby’s “Rockstar” featuring Roddy Ricch (#5) rounded out the Top 5. “The Box” also led the year-end Streaming Songs chart.

Besides having the #1 song on the music publication’s year-end tally, The Weeknd also sits at the pinnacle of the Hot 100 Artists chart. He came out on top of that specific year-end chart in 2015 too, making him just one of twelve acts to achieve that feat more than once.

The rest of the Hot 100 Artists chart’s Top 5 included Roddy Ricch (#2), DaBaby (#3), Lil Baby (#4), and Dua Lipa (#5). Rich was also named Billboard‘s Top New Artist for 2020. Hollywood’s Bleeding by Post Malone was the Top Billboard 200 Album. Plus, Malone ruled the overall Top Artists chart followed by The Weeknd (#2) and Roddy Ricch (#3).

Lil Baby Drops Music Videos For New Singles “Errbody” & “On Me”

We celebrating my 4 Day All Week Starting Tonight,” tweeted Lil Baby on November 29. The Atlanta rapper celebrated his 26th birthday on December 3, and he actually gave his fans gifts in the form of two new songs.

The respective music videos for “Errbody” and “On Me” arrived on YouTube overnight. Section 8 produced “Errbody” with Daps directing the visuals. Keemotion directed the clip for “On Me.” The track was produced by Chi Chi and Evrgrn.

Earlier this year, Lil Baby dropped his sophomore studio album, My Turn, to commerical success and critical acclaim. The LP was certified double platinum by the RIAA, becoming the first project released in 2020 to reach that status.

Many rap pundits and listeners have Lil Baby on their respective shortlists for Hip Hop’s 2020 MVP. My Turn landed at #2, behind Post Malone’s Hollywood’s Bleeding, on the Top Billboard 200 Album year-end chart.

Lil Baby was recently included on Forbes magazine’s 30 Under 30 list, and he was named Artist of the Year by Apple Music. His standout protest song “The Bigger Picture” was nominated in the Best Rap Performance category at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards.

‘Black Panther’ Star Letitia Wright Faces Backlash For Sharing Anti-Vaccine Video

Letitia Wright is currently caught up in an anti-vaxxer controversy. The Black Panther cast member tweeted an hour-long YouTube video from a channel presented by a self-described prophet and Christian missionary. This specific On The Table episode questioned the effectiveness of the COVID-19 vaccine even though the host admitted he did not understand the vaccination process.

Many other Twitter users began harshly criticizing Wright for sharing what is perceived to be misinformation about medical science. The 27-year-old Guyanese-British actress then began responding to her online critics by stating that the YouTuber was just giving his opinion about vaccines.

“If you don’t conform to popular opinions, but ask questions and think for yourself… you get cancelled [face with tears of joy emoji],” wrote Wright on the social media platform. She later added, “You have every right to ask questions about what goes into your body and ask questions until you feel you are ready.”

The 2019 BAFTA Rising Star Award winner also tweeted, “Not my intention to make anyone upset. Nor am I saying don’t take it. I’m just concerned about what’s in it that’s all. Isn’t that fair to question or ask?”

People pushed back by telling Wright not to spread false information from a random YouTube channel to her nearly 400,000 followers. She was even accused of trying to indoctrinate people into dangerous beliefs. Wright’s contentious Twitter exchanges over the COVID-19 vaccine went on for five hours.

Saweetie Calls Out Her Record Label Over Early Release Of Doja Cat Collaboration

Saweetie has released several songs in 2020 – such as “Tap In” and “Back to the Streets” – that were modest hits but none of her singles achieved major crossover commerical success. She was probably hoping her new collaboration with Doja Cat would make bigger waves on the charts.

The apparent accidental rollout for “Best Friend” featuring Doja Cat is being slammed by the lead artist. Saweetie took to Twitter to call out Warner Records over how the track made its way to Apple Music on Friday morning. It has apparently been removed from the streaming service since that time.

“I am extremely disappointed in my label WBR for prematurely releasing a single I was so excited about. I feel disrespected. I’m hands on with ALL of my creative & had such a dope rollout for ‘best friends.’ The thirst for clout & $ is real & it overrides the artists’ art,” tweeted Saweetie. “The wrong version at that smh. Like wtf???”

The California-bred rapper added, “We put so much work into the visual & we shot for days for this super cinematic girl anthem. And for this to happen? Wow… Icy gang always dealing with the bs with me no matter what it means so much. I LOVE y’all. I’m bout to fix this nail & go to sleep. Goodnight.”

Wallie the Sensei Taps 42 Dugg For “Scandalous” Remix

Wallie the Sensei is the newest rapper to come out of Compton, California, and he’s not letting anything stop him from getting to the top. The West Coast spitter exploded onto the rap scene with his breakout single “Scandalous,” and now he returns to unleash the official remix tapping Detroit’s own 42 Dugg.

Released via Capitol Records, the new record bridges the gap between Cali and Detroit, as 42 Dugg adds his flair to the original banger. Given both artists’ backgrounds in the streets, the remix proves to be the perfect match as they both slide over the heartfelt beat. With Wallie reflecting on having to fend for himself, 42 Dugg reflects on his journey making it out while his friends remain behind bars.

Prior to the remix, “Scandalous” has accumulated over 5 million views on Youtube and counting.

Listen above and vibe out!

Cokah: The “Around The Way Girl” Is Brooklyn’s New Rising Star

Cokah’s Instagram name reads “COKAH DA ASSASSIN,” so you already know what type of time she’s on. Hailing from Brooklyn, New York, where hip-hop culture is so rich and deep, the rising star reels in influences from all the greats, from Drake and Nicki Minaj to Missy Elliott and Biggie.

After going viral online for one of her freestyle videos, specifically over a Meek Mill instrumental for “Tony’s Story,” real name Keayana Coke quickly realized music would be her end-be-all. Turning her poems into raps, the singer, songwriter, rapper, and dancer devoted her entire life to her artistry, and continues to put in the work necessary to make it to the big leagues.

Under the wings and guidance of superproducer Jerry Wonda, Cokah unleashed her debut EP titled Pink Pantha. Inspired greatly by the film Pink Panther, she brings vibes for every single occasion possible. Whether you’re looking to turn up, looking for live, or simply looking for some upliftment, Cokah’s got you covered.

AllHipHop: You’re from Brooklyn, New York, how does that play into your life and career?

Cokah: Being from Brooklyn honestly makes my shell hard. You know how they have the hardshell taco, we got the soft shell tacos? You’re still a taco but you’re either hard or soft, I’m definitely a hardshell taco from Brooklyn. It makes your exterior so much thicker you don’t really get as hurt by things on the Internet because you are always getting joked on or cracked on. It makes me tough.

AllHipHop: Where do you fit in the realm of hip-hop and R&B?

Cokah: I’m in my own lane. I’m not trying to take over anyone’s spot, I’m not coming for anybody already established. I’m ready to be seen, heard and present. I’m not trying to take the spotlight from anybody because I’m trying to get my own flashlight. I want to relate to people, I want people to relate to me. I want to be that artist you bump when you’re feeling real bad and bossy. I want to be an artist that sets the tone and sets the mood. I fit with the bars, the personality. I’m the flow that the industry needs a little gap, I’m here. My Brooklyn vibe.

AllHipHop: Pink Pantha out now! How are you feeling?

Cokah: I’m feeling good girl. That piece of work was so hard to even get it out into the atmosphere because so much was going on. When it finally happened, I was so happy. It turned out well, it’s for everybody. A little Caribbean vibes, some hardcore rap in the first track when you enter. Some club on there, some love on “Stuck On Stupid,” every vibe was touched on that EP. My first time putting together a collective project, I was pretty stoked. I was so happy with the outcome, we’re almost at a million streams with it. It’s doing so well, I’m really proud of it. I got a little Grammy consideration, I’m very excited

AllHipHop: The “Make Me Wanna” video looked like such a vibe, where was it shot?

Cokah: It’s mad crazy because the first video we’re supposed to shoot, I ended up getting sick. I had something called gastritis. It was supposed to happen around my birthday, we had to move the shoot. We Ended up changing the whole theme, but it still came out beautiful. We asked DJ Taj from Jersey if we could use his spot, it all came out dope. He’s a member of The Heavy Hitters from Hot97.

AllHipHop: What’s your take on the music industry?

Cokah: People can be very vain when it comes to music, some aren’t open to this new sound. Young artists don’t get that respect they want and deserve because a lot of the older heads aren’t getting jiggy with the mumble rap. Once they realize music has evolved, this is what it is, this is the sound, music will go in a whole better direction. When people stop trying to sound like each other, it’ll be better. [laughs] People need to stop being scared to try different things.

Once people are rappers, they put them in this box that they have to talk about one thing: sex, money, p####, chains, taking somebody n*gga, whatever it may be. It goes so much further, including myself. People need to tap more into diversity, instead of trying to go to one shifting lane because it works for somebody. What floats somebody’s boat might sink yours. People should stop being so damn strict, be more open and fun. It don’t have to be about sex and booty all the time, we have enough of that. Rap about something people are gon’ relate to, also not feeling sad about. We have a bunch of that Perc, pill-popping music, having all the kids sad and trying drugs. Rap about some s### that’s going to make somebody happy: vibe, feel cute, feel sexy. That’s my vibe, finding new ways to tap into the audience.

AllHipHop: How’d you find your way to Jerry Wonda?

Cokah: Through his brother Renel and through my old manager I used to kick it with named Dougie. He introduced me to this woman named Lexi who introduced me to Renel, who introduced me to Jerry. That made the chain. Once me and Jerry met, it was instant click.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CHoI2aNhBuv/

AllHipHop: I saw your recent car freestyle, bring us back to that moment.

Cokah: I freestyle anywhere I’m at, I’m more of a writer though. I love to write, a lot of s### be written. Writing makes me feel like what am I gonna talk about? I think of a whole bunch of things that I have to come up with really fast. When it comes out, it’s f###### fire. It’s flames. I’m a fast writer. Rapping in the car is a vibe, you catch a little beat and write a song real quick. I like rapping in a car, it’s free. I love being in the car period. I love long drives, I love everything about it. Road trips with Cokah coming soon.

AllHipHop: Did you know King Von?

Cokah: I didn’t know him personally, but I’d started getting into his music. I started bumping him 2 months before his death, like alright I’m a King Von fan. I’m certified, then this happened. That same freestyle from the car, I was writing before he even passed. The day I was going to drop it, I was practicing and making sure I got it — and he died. I didn’t even think I should put it out, but then I did because it’s music. It’s nothing degrading to him. I make sure I post him, show him my love and support. Wow, it’s crazy how life happens. You could be writing to somebody’s s###, then they’re gone. To be considerate, I didn’t want to post it around the same time as his death. I don’t like clout chasing. I tried to space it out but that’s something I was originally going to post.

AllHipHop: Who are some artists that are out now you’d like to collab with?

Cokah: Ummm, that’s a tough one. I think a Roddy Ricch record would sound dope because of his melodic style of rap, Benny the Butcher cause he gives that real gritty New York vibe, and Teyana Taylor cause of how she puts her emotions into her music, it be hitting home. Just to name a few. [laughs]

AllHipHop: Who’s your dream collab?

Cokah: I’ma pick this wisely, Beyoncé because that’s a dream. A feature from Drake can either be really good for you or really do you bad. You got to come up with a follow-up if you do a feature with Drake, that’s a lot of pressure. Bey, Drake, or Missy. I’d die.

AllHipHop: Goals yourself as an artist at this point of your career?

Cokah: I want to win a big award, I don’t care what it is. I want to hit a Grammy, AMAs, VMAs, one of them. I want to do a billion streams one day on my Drake s###. How he hits one billion streams on Tidal, that’s amazing to me somebody even streamed your record so many times. I also want to be in a movie during my rap career, sign an artist and make them my own Nicki and Drake like how Weezy did it. I’ll be the female Weezy and have my two protégés, beautiful. I can jump on their records from time to time when I feel like hopping back out. [laughs]

EXCLUSIVE: Feds Hating On Rapper B.G.’s Attempt To Be Released From Prison Early

Rap star B.G. made a move to obtain his freedom last week, but if prosecutors have their way, he won’t be coming home until 2024.

A few days ago, B.G.’s lawyer Robert C. Jenkins contacted a judge and submitted a request for compassionate release to spring the rapper from the United States Penitentiary in Atlanta, Georgia.

B.G., 39, says his life is at risk because the walls of the USP in Atlanta have been “penetrated by the virus with lethal consequences” and now he faces “significant risks” and even death if he is not granted an early release.

In July of, 2012 B.G. was sentenced to 168 months in prison sentence after he pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of a firearm as a felon, and one count of conspiring to obstruct justice.

As of press time, B.G. has served approximately 113 months of his lengthy prison sentence and he has four years left.

B.G. is hoping to be released to home confinement to serve out the rest of his sentence. He wants to use his fame and influence to keep young kids out of trouble, according to Jenkins.

“Here we have a defendant whom has been a model inmate and can do some extraordinary work with the youth of America. He is well known throughout the United States and is ready and willing to be a role model for the youth of America.” – B.G.’s lawyer, Robert Jenkins

“Mr. Dorsey has long realized his behavior and actions were wrong and is ready to help the youth of America understand and realize that his plight was wrong and to explain to the youth of America that in this country there is a better way to be a better person and succeed,” B.G.’s lawyer Robert Jenkins said.

However, prosecutors are seeking to block B.G.’s attempt to do good, mainly because they say he has presented no valid reason to be released from Atlanta USP early.

First off, they say B.G. will be just fine, thanks to protective measures put in place to keep inmates from contracting the virus. The Feds say the BOP has suspended non-essential visits, increased inmates’ phone time, and expanded testing for COVID-19 and quarantines inmates who display symptoms or catch the deadly disease.

The Feds also say inmates are Atlanta USP are doing just fine – just 12 inmates and eight staff have confirmed positive test results for COVID-19.

“He claims that he suffers from ‘a host of health problems’ but provides no specifics and no documentation or medical records to prove his allegations,” wrote United States attorney Peter G. Strasser.

But perhaps the most devastating blow for B.G. came from the BOP, who told prosecutors the rapper “is a ‘high risk’ for recidivism and therefore does not qualify for home confinement. Only those inmates who are considered ‘minimum’ and/or ‘low’ risk for recidivism are considered for such placement.”

A judge will rule on the case on December 9th, 2020.
