Kandi Burruss Blasts Todd Tucker Over Phony “Daddy Daycare” Posts

Kandi Burruss just dropped some serious claims about her estranged husband, Todd Tucker.

The Real Housewives of Atlanta alum is calling him out for living rent-free in her guest house while refusing to help with their kids’ expenses.

Court documents obtained by TMZ reveal Burruss is fed up with Tucker’s alleged freeloading. She claims he’s been staying in her Atlanta guest house since they separated in November 2025.

The property belongs to her and was purchased before their marriage.

“Todd hasn’t paid a single expense for the maintenance and upkeep of the home,” Burruss states in the filing. That includes utilities, gas, lawn care, water, pest control and alarm system fees.

But the financial drama doesn’t stop there. Kandi says Todd hasn’t provided any support for their two children, Ace and Blaze Tucker. She’s handling all the parenting duties despite her busy entertainment career.

The singer-turned-entrepreneur claims she’s the primary caregiver for their kids. A hired nanny picks up the slack when she’s working. Meanwhile, Todd presents himself as an active father on social media with his “Daddy Daycare” posts.

Kandi’s not buying the social media act.

She says Todd’s parenting videos last only two to three minutes. His actual involvement with the children is minimal, according to the court documents.

The financial burden has fallen entirely on Burruss. She’s covering tuition, school supplies, birthday parties and medical bills. Todd hasn’t contributed to any of these expenses since their split.

Their kids have celebrated two birthdays since Kandi filed for divorce. Todd attended the separate parties but refused to help pay for them.

He also hasn’t kicked in for child support payments.

Burruss has been working on Broadway in New York since November 2025. She’ll remain there until March, but flies back and forth to see Ace and Blaze.

Todd’s travel schedule includes multiple international vacations, according to the filing.

This isn’t the first time Kandi has called out Todd’s lack of financial support. In January, she filed documents requesting a hearing to settle custody and support issues.

She detailed their children’s “significant monthly expenses,” including nanny costs and extracurricular activities.

Todd hasn’t responded publicly to Kandi’s latest claims. He continues to post on Instagram, recently sharing photos of his son, Ace, after a basketball championship win.

AllHipHop caught up with a certified lyricist as he gears up for his latest release. True to form, Ras Kass kept it raw, reflective and razor sharp while breaking down the making of Leopard Eats Face, his upcoming project that blends elite lyricism with dynamic production.

AllHipHop: AllHipHop is here with a legend. Tell us your name, sir.

Ras Kass: State my name, gangster. My name is Ras Kass. California.

AllHipHop: Tell us about your new album.

Ras Kass: The name of the album is called Leopard Eats Face. I think it’s 14 songs, one interlude, and we added an additional song on the digital. The digital song is called “Mapogo Lions,” which is the song on Dave Chappelle’s newest Netflix special. It’s the theme song that he comes out on. So we added that as a bonus.

AllHipHop: When does it drop?

Ras Kass: Album drops today. ASAP.

AllHipHop: Who’s on it?

Ras Kass: Man, the people on this album… I would be remiss, man. I’m gonna forget to mention people. The Mechanics produced on it, The Beat Miners produced on it. I am forgetting a lot of producers. I’m sorry, you guys. Obviously, I got my family. Coast Contra’s on there with Inspectah Deck. We did one for the city. Me and Ab-Soul got one. That’s crazy. Salute to TDE. Me and Trad got an ill record on there. I’m forgetting so many people, man. It’s a plethora. I didn’t want to have a million features, but the people that are on there are supposed to be on those records and they took the records up a level. So I’m sorry for all the people I didn’t mention, but a lot of cool people.

AllHipHop: It’s great to hear lyricism and beats in harmony, not just lyrics or not just beats. Talk about that.

Ras Kass: This record for me, I was just feeling some type of way. I was actually trying to create a different album at the time. At some point what I realized I was making was not this album called 13th Grade. One day it hit me and I was like, fire is hot, water is wet, and leopard eats face. So I just decided I was going to try to convey that.

The title track sets the tone immediately.

Ras Kass: The title song is the first song on the album. Once I pinpointed where I was going, the rest of it just fell into place. I’m really blessed that the production… it’s an MC’s album. But I think we have quote unquote normal people records or common rap community records. There’s some easy listening and some dope records and some West Coast records, but I think it’s overall just a dope Hip-Hop album. I think it’s well-rounded and I’m really excited for people to hear it.

He also teased a record that might surprise longtime listeners.

Ras Kass: I have a song called “Miss Me Yet” with the amazing Timothy Bloom. I think he won two Grammys. It’s kind of nice when girls are like, “Oh, I like that song.” Because they never tell me that. They’re always like, “You’re a nice looking dude. Why you hate the women?” And always talk about all this angry Black man stuff. I’m like, “I don’t know. That’s who I am.” But we got a couple of songs that aren’t contrived. I’m glad that we were able to marry really cool production that runs the spectrum of what I enjoy, from super West Coast to the most underground backpack. We even got a drill baseline record. It’s called “Hit List,” which is actually my ode to The Notorious B.I.G..

“Hit List” is currently leading the charge.

Ras Kass: “Hit List” is one of my favorites. That’s the single that’s out now. My man Gifted Glitch shot the video. The video’s ill. Who’s the only one that can hang from a blue Louis Vuitton Gucci rag and spit bars? That’s the answer.

With Leopard Eats Face, Ras Kass is not chasing trends. From underground grit to Grammy collaborations, the California veteran sounds energized. He laughs about perception and embraces the “angry Black man” tag with a wink.

Chuck D Tells Gene Simmons KISS Has Rock But No Roll, Gives Him “Ghetto” Education

Chuck D wasn’t having any of Gene Simmons’ latest rant about Hip-Hop not belonging in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.

The Public Enemy frontman sat down with TMZ and delivered a masterclass response to the KISS bassist’s recurring complaints about rap artists getting inducted.

“Gene Simmons seems to say this every three years anyway,” Chuck D said during the interview. “And I guess when the latest group of Hip-Hop artists and rap music artists come in, you know, he’s going to issue his point.”

Simmons recently appeared on the LegendsNLeaders podcast, where he declared that “Hip-Hop does not belong in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, nor does opera, symphony orchestras … it’s called the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame.”

But Chuck D had the perfect comeback ready.

“I mean, he’s a rock god, you know, but what he fails to realize is that it’s the rock and roll hall of fame and everything else other than rock when rock and roll splintered in the 60s is the Roll” Chuck D explained. “And soul music, reggae, Hip-Hop, which is rap music.”

The legendary rapper broke down exactly why Simmons misses the point about the Hall’s purpose.

“So, it embodies, you know, sight, sound, story, and style, but music, the vocal on top of the music has already been determined. So that’s the Roll, that’s the flow, that’s the soul in it,” he continued.

Then came the knockout punch.

“Yeah, KISS are rock gods, but they don’t have a lot of Roll to them,” Chuck D said with a slight smile.

The 63-year-old Hip-Hop pioneer made it clear that being told he doesn’t belong somewhere isn’t exactly new territory for him.

“I’m black, born in 1960. Being told that I don’t belong doesn’t even phase me,” he stated matter-of-factly. “You know what I’m saying? I really relish the opportunity that I’m able to even be in the music business at all. And thank God for Hip-Hop and rap music making it possible.”

The conversation also touched on Simmons’ controversial comment about not coming “from the ghetto” and Hip-Hop not speaking his “language.”

“Ghetto don’t mean black. Ghettos, that came out of European term,” he explained, referring to the term’s historic origins in Italy, where Jewish people were forced to live.

Ironically, Simmons, whose real name is Chaim Witz, is Jewish.

“I mean, you know, a cluster of people who are kind of like the same tribe all in the same area,” Chuck D continued. “But you just got to have education so you won’t be rattled by things that just come out of left field.”

New Lawsuit Against Shannon Sharpe Could Derail Dream To Come Back To ESPN

Shannon Sharpe’s dream of returning to ESPN may be sacked – this time for good. The former NFL star faces a new lawsuit from his ex-girlfriend, Michele Evans, a former ESPN producer who worked with him in Denver.

Evans filed two separate lawsuits in New York this week. One targets defamation. The other falls under the New York City Gender-Motivated Violence Act.

Both stem from allegations dating back to 2010.

Evans met Sharpe in the early 2000s while covering his Denver Broncos team as a local television reporter for ESPN. She claims they dated for nearly a decade before things went wrong in September 2010.

According to Evans, she confronted Sharpe about cheating allegations. That’s when the situation turned violent.

“Shannon’s coercion escalated as he maneuvered me onto the bed and achieved non-consensual vaginal penetration, all the while proclaiming his intent to ‘Make it so no other man would want me,'” her complaint states.

Evans also alleges Sharpe “proceeded to forcefully subdue me, compelling me to my knees and subsequently engaging in non-consensual oral penetration.”

Evans emphasized her credibility in challenging her former colleague. She wants the public to know she’s not just another accuser.

“It’s important to the public record that ESPN and its talent understand that I wasn’t just a stranger filing a claim – I was a former ESPN employee with a long track record in the Industry,” Evans noted.

Sharpe’s attorney already fired back at Evans and her accusations in a previous statement from a lawsuit she filed against him in 2023. The legal team called her claims a “cash grab” designed to profit from his current legal troubles.

“It should be no surprise that when someone famous is in the news, all sorts of people crawl out of the woodwork to share their connection to that person in an attempt to profit from that alleged relationship,” the statement read.

The attorney continued: “Sadly, Ms. Evans became obsessed with Shannon and decided to manufacture a claim against him.”

The timing couldn’t be worse for Shannon Sharpe. He recently told Front Office Sports during Super Bowl weekend that he wants his job back at ESPN.

“I would love to go back if they were to call,” Sharpe said. “That is their call. But obviously, I’m more than willing, I’m more than capable.”

He added, “I still have a fan base. I still have a big following. If a reunion is in order, I’m amenable to it.”

This new lawsuit comes just months after Sharpe settled a $50 million sexual assault case with OnlyFans model Gabriella Zuniga. That settlement cost him his job at ESPN in July 2025.

Zuniga accused Sharpe of sexual assault and battery. The case was eventually settled out of court, but ESPN severed ties with him immediately after.

Sharpe’s legal troubles don’t stop there. In September 2024, he accidentally went live on Instagram while having sex. The audio went viral across social media platforms.

Initially, Sharpe claimed hackers were responsible for the embarrassing incident. He later admitted the mistake was his own.

“I’m disappointed in myself,” Sharpe said on his Nightcap podcast. “Obviously I’m embarrassed. Someone that is extremely, extremely private, and to have one of your most intimate details shared with the world, that’s not a good feeling.”

The Instagram incident happened while Sharpe was still employed at ESPN. It added to the mounting pressure that eventually led to his departure.

Vanilla Ice Giddy As 1990 Hit Returns To Charts Over ICE Politics – Updated

‌lVanilla Ice is pumped that his 1990 hit “Ice Ice Baby” jumped back to number three on Billboard’s rap songs chart.

The climb happened because people on both sides of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement debates started using his track in social media videos.

The Florida rapper had no clue his song was trending again until he started scrolling through TikTok and other platforms.

“I honestly had no idea. You know, I could never imagine,” Vanilla Ice told WPBF 25 News. “You know, I just woke up one day and found out that my song is number one. 36 years later and I’m like, whoa. So I’m ready to go dancing again,” he said.

Protesters against ICE operations have been playing “Ice Ice Baby” at rallies across the country. Videos show masked activists blasting the song from speakers during demonstrations in Bristol and other cities.

One viral clip shows a black pickup truck driving past immigration advocates while playing the track at full volume.

Meanwhile, ICE supporters have created their own content using the same song. Social media users on both sides of the immigration debate have turned the 1990 hit into soundtrack material for political videos and memes.

Vanilla Ice said he welcomes any attention that drives his music but wants to stay out of political fights.

“Hey, man, I’ll take anything that drives my songs. You know, whatever makes people laugh and have fun because that’s all they’re doing is using it for little parodies and stuff like that,” he said.

The rapper made clear he won’t pick sides in immigration debates.

“I would never try to even comment on how to run a country, so I don’t. I’m neutral, you know, I don’t do anything. I stay in my lane, if that makes sense,” Vanilla Ice explained.

The neutral stance kind of matches his approach to other political situations. Vanilla Ice performed at Donald Trump’s Mar-A-Lago New Year’s Eve parties on December 31, 2020, and December 31, 2025.

But, he bashed Amber Rose and Forgiato Blow for ripping off his hit to create their abysmal Pro-Trump track, “Trump, Trump Baby.”

“Ice Ice Baby” originally sampled the bassline from Queen and David Bowie‘s 1981 hit “Under Pressure” without permission. The unauthorized sampling prompted legal action by both artists and their representatives.

Vanilla Ice initially denied copying the bassline during interviews. He claimed his version was different because it had an extra note. The explanation didn’t hold up under legal scrutiny.

The rapper eventually settled the lawsuit out of court. Years later, he revealed he paid $4 million to purchase the publishing rights to “Under Pressure.” He said buying the rights was cheaper than fighting the case in court.

The purchase gave Queen members and Bowie songwriting credits on “Ice Ice Baby.”

This means Vanilla Ice now earns money from both his original rap and the underlying “Under Pressure” composition whenever the song gets played or streamed.

The current political resurgence has created bigger revenue streams for Vanilla Ice, who said he’s surprised by how his 1990 creation continues to find new audiences.

Cardi B Clashes With DHS Over ICE While Nicki Minaj Backs Trump’s SAVE Act To MAGA Glee

Cardi B found herself in a heated Twitter battle with the Department of Homeland Security after threatening ICE agents during her Palm Desert concert Wednesday night.

The Bronx rapper kicked off her 34-date tour by asking if any Guatemalans or Mexicans were in the crowd. She then sang a snippet of “La Cucaracha” before making her stance clear.

“If ICE come in here we’re gonna jump their a####,” Cardi B told the California audience. “I’ve got some bear mace in the back. They ain’t taking my fans.”

DHS didn’t let the threat slide. The agency fired back on X with a pointed reference to her past legal troubles.

“As long as she doesn’t drug and rob our agents, we’ll consider that an improvement over her past behavior,” DHS posted.

Cardi B quickly responded by shifting the conversation to more serious allegations. She tweeted back about the Epstein files and questioned why those investigations weren’t getting the same attention.

“If we talking about drugs let’s talk about Epstein and friends drugging underage girls to rape them,” she wrote. “Why yall don’t wanna talk about the Epstein files?”

Alex Bruesewitz, former top adviser for President Trump’s 2024 campaign, wasted no time attempting to sow division between the two rappers.

“The only reason the ‘Epstein files’ are out is because of President Trump. Trump arrested Epstein during the first term and just released millions of files.Your friends Jay-Z and TMZ founder Harvey Levin are mentioned in the files, any comment?” Bruesewitz fumed.

Then, he started retweeting Nicki Minaj’s social media posts in support of the Save America Act. Minaj spent Thursday urging her fans to call senators and push for the passage of Trump’s SAVE Act.

The legislation requires a photo ID and proof of citizenship to vote. It passed the House 218-213, but faces an uphill battle in the Senate.

“Dear Barbz, call your senators, then tweet #SaveAct to let me know you did it,” Nicki Minaj posted to her millions of followers. Minaj even offered bribes to get fans involved. The White House reposted her video with the message “Barbz- find your senators.”

Minaj’s support for the SAVE Act puts her at odds with Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer. He called the legislation “Jim Crow 2.0” and said it would be “dead on arrival” in the Senate.

Minaj fired back in all caps, telling Schumer to “stop weaponizing Jim Crow & the Holocaust in your political theater.” She accused him of protecting unauthorized immigrants to “cheat American citizens out of fair elections.”

The political divide between the two rappers adds new fuel to a rivalry that dates back years. Their beef has included everything from social media arguments to a physical altercation at a 2018 fashion week party.

Cardi B’s tour continues through April with a March 12 stop in Minneapolis. That city has seen ICE and Border Patrol agents kill two American citizens this year during protests against federal immigration enforcement.

The Trump administration announced Thursday it’s ending the surge of immigration agents sent to Minnesota. The decision came after months of protests and the shooting deaths of two citizens who opposed the federal presence.

Biggie Smalls’ son says the man who dragged him into a lurid sex-abuse nightmare with Diddy is now ducking the legal smoke after lighting the match.

CJ Wallace recently told a judge that Jonathan Hay has been dodging process servers in his defamation case against the publicist, who made wild claims against Wallace and Diddy.

Hay is knee deep in two legal actions. He claims Diddy beat him and forced his penis into Hay’s mouth during a 2020 studio session tied to a remix project honoring The Notorious B.I.G., while Wallace allegedly stood in the background helping make it happen.

Hay says the Bad Boy mogul masked him, assaulted him and then sexually violated him, accusing Wallace of “conspiring” with Diddy to “allow or assist” him ability to carry out the attack.

He also accuses Diddy of a separate 2020 “freak off” style incident during a photoshoot, telling police Diddy pulled out his penis, told Hay to “come finish him off,” then ejaculated on a shirt that once belonged to Biggie before tossing it on Hay and saying, “Rest in peace BIG.”

That California case is moving forward in Los Angeles to determine if criminal charges could be warranted against Diddy.

As for Wallace, he denied the claims and filed a defamation lawsuit against Hay, who went public with claims that CJ himself had sexual relationships with Diddy, took part in “freak offs” with the mogul and his own co-producer Willie Mack, and lured Hay into a location so Diddy could attack him.

Hay told interviewers that Wallace attended Diddy’s infamous “freak-off” gatherings, watched criminal sexual activity and used his proximity as Biggie’s son to help set Hay up.

Wallace and Biggie’s estate says all of that is fiction, cooked up after they refused to release most of Hay’s 2020 “Ready to Dance” remixes.

Wallace’s new motion says he has tried at least seven times to serve Hay since November 12, 2025. During one attempt, Hay’s daughter allegedly said he moved out in May 2025 and cut off contact.

Process servers made three more attempts on January 7, 8, and 9, 2026, and Wallace’s lawyer, Jeremiah Reynolds, says they even asked Hay’s attorney to accept service by email, but counsel refused.

Wallace says Hay is actively evading service and he has resorted to hiring a private investigator to track Hay down.

Waka Flocka Flame Headlining Washington DC MAGA Valentine’s Day Party

Waka Flocka Flame is stepping up to headline a conservative Valentine’s Day party after DaBaby backed out of the gig.

Conservative YouTuber CJ Pearson announced the switch for his “MAGA is in the Air” event scheduled for February 13 in Washington, D.C.

The party was supposedly set to feature DaBaby as the main act. But DaBaby shut down those plans fast. He posted on X last month saying, “anything mentioning my name & politics right now is fake news.”

The Charlotte rapper told fans, “Don’t take the bait” regarding rumors about the political event. Pearson approached DaBaby because of DaBaby’s past support for Trump. The event organizer said DaBaby’s team agreed to perform but then backed out.

That left Pearson scrambling for a replacement headliner. Enter Waka Flocka Flame.

The Atlanta rapper has been vocal about his support for Donald Trump for years. He attended the film “Melania” premiere with President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump in January.

“Hopefully, you find love in a hopeless place,” Pearson said about the Valentine’s event. “And there’s no place more hopeless than Washington, D.C.”

Pearson runs the Cruel Kids Table, a group of young Trump supporters. His Black Conservative Federation calls itself “the premier hub for Black conservatives.”

The organization has been pushing conservative values in Hip-Hop spaces.

DaBaby’s team initially agreed to the performance contract. But they changed course after the rapper faced online backlash. Pearson addressed DaBaby directly on his show after the denial.

“A lot of folks in Hollywood and rap have handlers,” Pearson said. “DaBaby, only you know what is best for you. They want to control you, DaBaby. Don’t let them.”

The Valentine’s Day party will feature music, food, and political discussions. Organizers expect hundreds of attendees from across the country.

Waka Flocka’s booking shows his commitment to conservative causes. He’s not backing down from his political stance despite industry pressure. The rapper said he’ll keep speaking his truth regardless of consequences.

Apple Music Raises Fraud Penalties After 2B Fake Streams

Apple Music just made streaming fraud way more expensive for cheaters.

The platform doubled its penalties for fake streams. Fraudsters now face fines up to 50% of their would-be royalties. That’s up from the previous 25% cap.

Oliver Schusser, Apple Music’s VP, told The Hollywood Reporter the move targets a growing problem. The service caught 2 billion fraudulent streams in 2025 alone.

“This is a zero-sum game,” Schusser said. “I would like to live in a world where we have zero fraud on the platform, and this has been a very effective tool.”

The new penalties started Sunday. Apple Music first introduced fraud fines in 2022 with a sliding scale from 5% to 25%. Now those numbers jump to a minimum of 10% and a maximum of 50%.

Here’s how it works: If someone games the system to claim $1 million in fake royalties, they could face a $500,000 fine. Plus, those bogus streams won’t earn any money.

AI music is making the problem worse. French streaming service Deezer reported that 60,000 AI-generated songs are uploaded daily. That’s 39% of all new music on their platform. Even worse, 85% of AI-generated song streams are fake.

Apple Music’s fraud rate remains under 0.5%. But with billions of total streams, that still adds up fast. The 2 billion fake streams Apple caught last year would have cost real artists about $17 million.

Schusser says most competitors struggle with this issue. Apple Music’s advantage comes from iOS security and human editors who curate playlists. They don’t rely solely on algorithms, as other platforms do.

The company validates every single play on Apple Music. When they find fraud, they remove the stream counts and chart positions. The money goes back to honest artists instead.

“Increasing the penalties takes the money from people who are cheating and puts it back into the system for those who aren’t,” Schusser explained.

The timing connects to AI music flooding streaming services. Scammers use AI to quickly create fake songs. They build networks of fake artists and playlists to drive streams.

Some avoid detection by spreading their plays across many tracks rather than focusing on just a few.

Apple Music won’t say when fines become permanent bans. The company didn’t respond to questions about upgrading penalties to straight removal from the platform.

The streaming wars keep heating up over fraud detection. Apple Music positions itself as the quality choice compared to ad-supported competitors. Schusser took shots at free music tiers, calling them part of the problem.

“You’ve got the wrong incentives in the market about people trying to get number one songs and charts,” he said. “It’s not good for our ecosystem.”

The 50% penalty cap sends a clear message to would-be fraudsters. Apple Music won’t tolerate fake streams, especially as AI makes cheating easier than ever.

DHS Rips Cardi B Over ICE Comments With Wild Roast

The Department of Homeland Security just served Cardi B some ice-cold payback. DHS officials clapped back at the rapper’s concert threat with a brutal reminder of her stripper past.

Cardi B made headlines Wednesday night during her Little Miss Drama Tour opener in Palm Desert, California. She told fans she’d fight ICE agents if they showed up at her show.

“B####, if ICE comes in here, we gon’ jump they a####,” Cardi said from the stage. She even mentioned having bear mace ready backstage.

But DHS wasn’t having it. The agency’s official X account said they’d consider her threat “an improvement over her past behavior” as long as she doesn’t “drug and rob our agents.”

That’s a direct shot at Cardi’s 2019 controversy. An old video resurfaced showing her admitting to drugging and stealing from men when she was an exotic dancer.

She said she would bring clients to hotel rooms to “drug them up” and then rob them. The backlash was swift back then. Cardi initially defended herself but later apologized in a lengthy statement on X. She explained she did things she felt were necessary to survive at the time.

Yachty joked the remix would appear on the Michael biopic soundtrack, dropping in April. “Sneak peak scene of the new michael biopic,” he captioned the viral clip.

Sexyy Red doubled down with her own Instagram post. “Leaked footage from da Michael Jackson movie HOOCHIE TRIBUTE TO DA BEST LLMJ,” she wrote.

The Michael Jackson Estate responded swiftly to the unauthorized use. A spokesperson told Loren LoRosa The Breakfast Club they were “totally unaware of this” and stressed the music use was “unauthorized.”

“We were totally unaware of this. The use of this music is unauthorized,” the estate spokesperson said. The word “unauthorized” was emphasized heavily during the conversation.

The estate wants all videos and content removed from social media platforms. They’re considering legal action to force the removal of the viral clips.

R. Kelly is sitting in “the hole” at a North Carolina federal prison while his lawyers push claims of an assassination plot, a suspicious overdose and government misconduct in his bid for a new trial.

Kelly is serving a 30-year federal sentence from his New York racketeering and sex trafficking conviction, along with a separate 20-year Chicago sentence for child pornography and enticement, most of which runs at the same time.

He is currently housed at the Federal Correctional Institution in Butner, North Carolina, where prison officials recently transferred him to the Special Housing Unit over what court filings describe as an undisclosed infraction.

In federal prison slang, the Special Housing Unit is known as “the hole,” a segregated wing where inmates spend up to 23 hours a day locked in a cell under tight restrictions.

Placement in the SHU sharply limits phone access, in-person visits and access to legal materials, and it is typically used for disciplinary reasons or pending investigations into alleged rule violations.

AllHipHop has learned that R. Kelly’s attorney, Beau Brindley, traveled to Butner to review evidence connected to Kelly’s motion for a new trial and to prepare a required reply brief.

Brindley told the court that roughly 30 minutes before he arrived for a scheduled legal visit, prison officials placed Kelly in the Special Housing Unit without explaining the alleged infraction.

When Brindley finally met with his client, he wrote that Kelly lacked access to his legal documents, making it impossible to review the evidence or prepare the filing.

The disruption came as Kelly moved for a new trial in Chicago federal court, accusing prosecutors of misconduct. He claims that Bureau of Prisons officials conspired to have him killed inside the federal prison system.

AllHipHop broke the original story: R. Kelly’s legal team alleges that members of the Aryan Brotherhood were approached and offered incentives to assassinate him.

According to the singer, a high-ranking gang member refused to carry out the alleged plan and indicated he would be willing to testify about the approach if necessary.

They allege that he was given medication in a quantity that triggered a medical emergency, leading to his transport to Duke University Hospital for treatment.

Doctors treated R. Kelly for blood clots in his lungs and legs, according to the filings and his lawyers contend that officials later removed him from the hospital and returned him to isolation.

Kelly previously asked the court for immediate release while his new trial motion is pending, arguing that the alleged threats and medical issues place his life in danger.

A federal judge denied that request for release, and prosecutors have dismissed the assassination and overdose claims as unfounded and unrelated to the underlying convictions.

Young Dolph Shooter Expected To Take Plea Deal Today

The second man accused of murdering Young Dolph is due in court today, where he is expected to plead guilty to killing the beloved rap star.

Cornelius Smith has already confessed to shooting the Memphis rapper outside Makeda’s Cookies in November 2021. His attorney, Sharon Morales, had told reporters last month that they were working on a plea deal with prosecutors.

“We anticipate having a guilty plea on February 12,” Morales said in January.

Smith was the last person connected to Dolph’s murder whose case remained unresolved. His co-shooter, Justin Johnson, got life in prison plus 35 years after his conviction in September 2024.

Smith testified against Johnson during that trial. He told the jury about the $100,000 hit Yo Gotti’s older brother, Anthony “Big Jook” Mims, put on Dolph’s head.

The shooting in South Memphis occurred after Smith and Johnson pulled up to the cookie shop while Dolph was inside.

Security cameras caught the two men getting out of a white Mercedes-Benz and opening fire through the store’s windows. Dolph tried to get away but couldn’t escape the gunfire.

The 36-year-old rapper died at the scene.

Smith’s testimony painted a picture of a murder-for-hire plot that went all the way to the top of Memphis Hip-Hop. He said Big Jook had been trying to get Dolph killed for years.

The beef between Dolph and Yo Gotti’s crew had been simmering since 2017. It started over a record-label dispute. Dolph had turned down multiple offers to sign with Yo Gotti’s Collective Music Group label.

He wanted to stay independent with his Paper Route Empire. That independence cost him his life, according to Smith’s testimony.

Hernandez Govan was supposed to be the middleman who connected the shooters to Big Jook. But a jury found him not guilty on all charges last summer.

Govan’s acquittal left prosecutors with just Smith and Johnson as the triggermen. Johnson fought his case all the way to trial. The jury convicted him of first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit murder.

Smith chose a different path. His cooperation with prosecutors likely helped him get a better deal than Johnson’s life sentence.

As for Big Jook, he never lived to see justice for Dolph’s murder. Someone shot and killed him outside a Memphis restaurant in January 2024.

Big U’s new court filing goes straight at the cooperation pipeline. He wants the court to force prosecutors to reveal both “known and unknown” cooperating witnesses, along with all their reports and communications.

His legal team argues the government is using statements from informants while “shielding” their identities and paperwork.

The motion asks for the names of all cooperating witnesses connected to the investigation. It also seeks any benefits, deals or promises they received.

Big U wants its reports, recordings, and statements produced by a firm deadline. He’s also pushing for disclosure of “unknown” cooperators whose information was summarized by agents but whose identities haven’t yet been revealed to the defense.

Federal investigators built the case using wiretaps, pole cameras, undercover buys, search warrants and interviews with witnesses and cooperators.

One FBI agent described debriefing a cooperating witness who explained how celebrities and athletes allegedly paid for “protection” from violence. The government also turned over tens of thousands of intercepted calls and digital evidence.

In RICO prosecutions, such motions are common but hit a nerve. Prosecutors typically argue that revealing cooperators too early can put people at risk, especially in cases involving alleged gang structures and witness intimidation history.

Defense teams counter that you can’t fairly try someone on the word of ghosts.

Big U previously named alleged informants in a defiant Instagram video before surrendering to federal authorities in March 2025.

He blamed Wack 100 and 600 for his legal troubles, claiming “600 was actually with the police when they raided my house.”
