Future’s “Wait For U” With Drake & Tems Debuts At No. 1

Future presently holds the #1 album and #1 song in America. After I Never Liked You opened atop the Billboard 200 chart, Future’s “Wait for U” debuted at the pinnacle of the Hot 100 chart.

“Wait for U” features Canadian rapper Drake and Nigerian singer Tems. The FnZ and ATL Jacob-produced track pulled in 40.2 million streams in its first seven days of release.

Future scored his second Hot 100 Number One. Previously in 2021, the Atlanta-bred artist led the Billboard weekly rankings as a guest on Drake’s “Way 2 Sexy” along with fellow Georgia native Young Thug.

In addition, Future has eighteen songs on the current Hot 100. “Puffin on Zootiez” (#4), “712PM” (#8), and “I’m Dat N####” (#10) also made into this week’s Top 10. Four other songs landed in the Top 20.

Drake earned his tenth Number One on the Hot 100, the most for a Hip Hop artist. He also increased his record-setting, all-genre totals for most Top 10 entries (55), most Top 40 entries (147), and most Top 10 debuts (40).

Young Thug’s Lawyer Responds To RICO Arrest

Jeffery “Young Thug” Williams is one of 28 people indicted in Georgia on racketeering charges. The 30-year-old YSL Records leader was booked into Fulton County Jail on Monday.

Authorities charged Young Thug with Conspiracy to Violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act (RICO) and Participation in Criminal Street Gang Activity. The indictment accuses YSL of being affiliated with the Bloods gang.

According to Fulton County jail records, the RICO charge against Young Thug is connected to an offense that allegedly took place on January 24, 2013. The gang charge dates back to May 12, 2018.

“Mr. Williams has committed no violation of law, whatsoever. We will fight this case ethically, legally, and zealously. Mr. Williams will be cleared,” stated Brian Steel, Young Thug’s lawyer.

Steel also added, “I’ll tell you the response to any allegation; Mr. Williams committed no crime whatsoever, and we will fight to my last drop of blood to clear him.”

Law enforcement also charged YSL artist Sergio “Gunna” Kitchens. Aspiring rapper Christian Eppinger, who is currently incarcerated on separate charges, faces indictment in the RICO case as well.

Young Thug is expected to make a court appearance on Tuesday morning around 11:30. The Atlanta-born performer released his Punk studio album in October 2021. Punk became Thugger’s third #1 project.

London Rappers Giggs & Potter Payper Tease Upcoming Banger

Giggs and Potter Payper linked up in the studio, teasing a U.K. rap collaboration fans have been waiting for since the pair dropped “We Dem N#####,” in 2017.

Potter Payper On Meeting Giggs

Potter Payper paid tribute to U.K rap icon Giggs during an interview last year and revealed the impact he had at the beginning of his career.

“Just before I went to jail, music-wise, I wasn’t in the best situation. I was around the wrong people, I was being taken advantage of. Within that, the silver lining is that I got to meet Giggs,” he revealed. “He saw my situation straight away, recognised me and my attributes, where I was coming from. He probably saw a likeness to himself. After we built a relationship, he ended up doing the Landlord tour. He could have chosen so many bigger artists who would have added something to the show, but he shouted me to open up for him. I couldn’t believe it. I said I’d do it for nothing, but he told me never to do anything for free, no matter who asks you. Know your worth.”

That’s what it’s all about. So we just want to say, ‘thank you.’ ‘Thank you for reinvesting.’”

J. Prince & Wack 100 Clash In Dispute Over Larry Hoover Interview

J. Prince and Wack 100 have exchanged words over social media in a dispute over Larry Hoover.

The Hip-Hop mogul has been a key figure in the fight for the incarcerated Hoover’s freedom, reuniting Kanye West and Drake for an epic benefit concert last year. In a new message, J. Prince called out Wack 100, who he accused of working “against the Hoover family” while attempting to profit from the cause. He posted a lengthy audio message with the caption, “Tell the truth and shame the Devils.”

J. Prince Blasts Wack 100

“It’s no secret that I, along with the Hoover family, lawyers, and friends are fighting hard for Larry Hoover freedom,” he said in the clip. “Meanwhile, this dude Wack and Karen Chapman, has taken the position to work against the Hoover family by trying to monetize off his name and withhold footage that could contribute to his freedom.”

J. Prince then continued, accusing Wack of lying about his association with the Hoover family.

“So, if it’s one thing this Wack dude is telling the truth about is that I don’t f### with him,” Prince declared. “When I was in L.A. talking to this lyin’ ass n####, never once did he take the position that he was partners in the theft of the Hoover family’s like he’s doing in that rehearsed conversation with them clowns.” Prince then claimed Karen Chapman “was entrusted by the Hoover family to interview Larry Hoover,” before returning the footage to the family.

“She decided to run off with the interview and a fake fraud contract claiming Larry Hoover signed all his rights away for nothing,” J. Prince added. “Larry Hoover is far from being a dummy, so for Wack and Karen to be taking a position on disrespecting the Hoover family by attempting to sell Larry Hoover’s likeness without the family’s permission is a mistake—for whomever [is] considering buying it.”

“YOU CAN ARGUE WITH THAT. ALL OF SUDDEN YOU DON’T KNOW NOTHING,” he said. “ALL OF A SUDDEN THERE HAS NEVER BEEN ANY CONVERSATION.”

Wack added, “ALL OF A SUDDEN NONE OF THIS EVER HAPPENED. MY COAST IS MY COAST MY TEAM IS MY TEAM.”

50 Cent Fulfills Promise To Mo’Nique, Casts Her As “Goldie” In BMF Season 2

50 Cent came through on his promise to cast Mo’Nique in one of his shows after the actress claimed she was “blackballed” by key Hollywood players.

After last month’s warning that he is not “wrapped all the way right,” when it comes to Mo’Nique, the TV Mogul gave her a role in the second series of BMF. 50 shared a video on Instagram on Monday evening, revealing the news and giving fans a glimpse of “Goldie.”

50 Cent Introduces “Goldie”

“My name is Goldie,” said Mo’Nique, while staring directly into the camera. “You know who the f### I am,” she added with a wink.

“Guess who i got in BMF this season 🔥 GOLDIE !,” 50 Cent penned. “I don’t miss,THE UNDER DOG’s BACK ON TOP.@therealmoworldwide.”

https://www.instagram.com/p/CdWzpT1jBr2/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

The G Unit boss is apparently wasting no time, and Mo’Nique has already begun filming the show. Shortly after making the announcement, 50 Cent posted another picture of his new star posing happily with her new BMF family.

“@eifrivera 🎥 Directing BMF 🔥 it’s lit. GLG🚦GreenLightGang i’m not playing no games,” he warned.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CdW-3sENSUJ/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

50 Cent has been an advocate of the Maryland native, supporting her publicly while working on her behalf behind the scenes after Mo’Nique accused Lee Daniels, Tyler Perry, and Oprah Winfrey of blackballing her, preventing her from working in the industry.

He initially hinted that he would cast the actress in one of his productions back in March.

“I Gotta get @therealmoworldwide back in pocket,” 50 wrote. “We only suppose to cancel s### that ain’t good for the culture. we need you to WIN again now MONIQUE.”

He also called out Oprah and Tyler Perry, and again teased an upcoming project with Mo’Nique. “I’m sure Oprah Winfrey and Tyler Perry would not want to continue to allow there influence to damage @therealmoworldwide career,” Fiddy wrote. “This has went on for way to long. So now would be a great time to apologize.” Tellingly he added, “because i’m gonna put her back on. 🤔”

However, just a few weeks later, 50 Cent revealed, “I’m so happy for Mo right now!” after a conversation with Tyler Perry. The two smoothed things over, and the director said he had no issue working with her.

Young Thug Accused Of Assisting In A Murder; Gunna Arrested In 56-Count Indictment

Rap star Young Thug and his top artist Gunna have been arrested in a sweeping RICO indictment.

According to WSBTV reporter Michael Seiden, the chart-topping rappers are among 28 defendants in a 56-count indictment out of Fulton County, Georgia.

The indictment stems from a long-running feud between the YSL gang, which is connected to the Bloods, and the rival YFN crew, which is also a faction of the Bloods.

According to the indictment, Young Thug, born Jeffery Lamar Williams, is accused of acting as an accomplice to murder.

The rapper allegedly rented a 2014 Infiniti Q50, used to murder rival YFN member named Donovan “Big Nut” Thomas Jr., who was instrumental in launching YFN Lucci’s career.

Thomas’ murder in 2015 apparently sparked the war between the YSL and YFN factions.

By May of 2019, the feud reached new heights when gunmen shot up his YFN Lucci’s red Mercedes G-Wagon.

Also, two of Young Thug’s associates allegedly wanted the rap star to greenlight a second murder attempt on YFN Lucci as he sits in jail awaiting trial.

In January of 2021, YFN Lucci was charged for his role in connection to the death of a 28-year-old man named James Adams.

Adams was a passenger in a vehicle with YFN Lucci during a shootout. He was struck in the head by return fire, and the rapper allegedly pushed him out of the automobile and left him for dead in the middle of an Atlanta Street.

In May of 2021, YFN Lucci was arrested in a 105 count indictment for racketeering with the Bloods.

Young Thug and Gunna were taken into custody earlier today (May 9th). Young Thug is charged with Conspiracy to Violate the Racketeer Influenced and Corrupt Organizations Act & Participation in Criminal Street Gang Activity.

Gunna, born Sergio Kitchens, is charged with one count of conspiring to violate RICO.

YG Pays Up To Settle Las Vegas Robbery Case

YG settled a felony robbery case in Las Vegas.

According to Rolling Stone, prosecutors dismissed robbery and grand larceny charges against YG on Monday (May 9). The Def Jam artist paid the alleged victim an undisclosed amount, which resulted in a dismissal ahead of the trial.

“The victim no longer wanted to pursue the case and didn’t want to travel, so the state dismissed it,” attorney Gia Marina told Rolling Stone. “He was an out-of-state victim.”

YG, whose real name is Keenon Jackson, was accused of robbing a man at the Cosmopolitan Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas in May 2018. He allegedly snatched a chain from the man’s neck following a confrontation over a photo.

The alleged victim asked to take a picture with YG but was turned away by the Compton native’s entourage. The man purportedly responded, “You aren’t that big of a celebrity anyway,” which led to an altercation.

YG turned himself in to police in July 2018. He was released on $20,000 bail.

The West Coast rapper denied stealing the chain. His lawyer Joe Tacopina insisted his client didn’t rob the man despite the settlement.

“YG didn’t steal his chain,” Tacopina told Rolling Stone. “This was a nuisance settlement. The man lost his neck chain during a scuffle. This was an out-of-court settlement that is confidential.”

Prior to his growth and the revamp of his musical career, Giles went by the stage name of Vthov. He now proudly wears his family name. With that being said, “Alive” happens to be one of the most successful singles in Giles’ career, and his “rebirth” plays a part in his advancement.

Performed in both rap and song, “Alive” features elements of hip-hop and rock, something that is difficult to achieve. Digital Radio Tracker recognized the hit on Global and Independent charts at #88 and #28, leveraging the artist’s several notches.

“Alive” was personal to Giles, however, after noticing the struggle society was currently facing, he decided to release it, symbolizing endurance and survival.  Noticing the effects COVID had on society, as well as the events in Ukraine, he decided to release “Alive” in March with hopes of providing a message of endurance and revival, something he gained with time.

“We should recognize that we are all survivors,” Giles says.

Coming soon, Giles will drop new music that he’s got brewing, including “Grinders and Hustlers”, a “hood anthem” dedicated to those who kept society alive during its lowest times. This fall, we can expect “Oscar Worthy” as well.
