Afeni Shakur Biopic In The Works Backed By Shakur Estate, Jasmine Guy To Executive Produce

Afeni Shakur, the beloved later mother of Tupac, is set to be the subject of a new biopic covering a pivotal two-year period during her time with the Black Panther party.

The project titled, “Peace, Love & Respect; the Afeni Shakur/Panther 21 story,” is spearheaded by Amaru Entertainment and the Shakur Estate and counts Jasmine Guy as one of its executive producers. Guy, who wrote the 2005 biography “Afeni Shakur: Evolution of a Revolutionary,” spoke to Variety about the film.

“I was honored when Afeni asked me to author her biography. Now, I have the opportunity to honor her life and her legacy on the screen, and I am very excited to share her remarkable story this way.”

Dina LaPolt, who worked with the Shakur Estate for many years, serves as the film’s producer. “Afeni always wanted Jasmine to write her book,” she said. “The Shakur estate could not imagine doing Afeni’s biopic without Jasmine Guy involved.”

The Afeni Shakur Story

The film explores the two years from April 2, 1969, when Afeni Shakur was arrested, alongside 20 other Black Panthers. Known as the Panter 21, they were charged with conspiracy to bomb police stations in New York. The later part covers Tupac’s birth on June 16, 1971.

Afeni Shakur married fellow Black Panther member Lumumba Shakur soon after joining the organization in 1968.

“When the trial started, Afeni had gotten pregnant when she was out on bail,” LaPolt explained. “Two of the Panthers absconded, the judge freaked out and Afeni got put back in jail. She was five months pregnant [with Tupac] and made a motion to get a glass of milk for her unborn child! She had a lot of self-confidence, and that’s our movie — it begins with the day she was arrested.”

LaPolt also wants to highlight the often-overlooked role of the women who helped run the Black Panther party. “The free breakfast programs, the medical facilities, the newsletter, information about where to go for access to education — that was run by women,” she said.

LaPolt revealed a treatment is in place for the film and discussed the next steps. “What we want to do is to take meetings with production companies. We would love to partner with ARRAY or Juvee Productions. I foresee a Black woman director, screenwriter, or Black woman production company [coming on board], that would be our dream. That would be our goal.”

Writer and director Jamal Joseph, the youngest of the “Panther 21” arrested alongside Afeni, is also an executive producer. “Afeni Shakur lived a life of challenge, power, rebelliousness, genius and beauty,” he said. “This is an origin story of a fierce, sexy, trailblazing, woman in Blackness Super Hero!”

Malcolm X: A Legacy That Will Never Die

Malcolm X is one of the most celebrated figures in black history. He is known for his pursuit of racial justice, and along with Martin Luther King Jr., he is the defining figure of the Civil Rights Movement.

Malcolm X was born on May 19th, 1925, as Malcolm Little in Omaha, Nebraska. He was one of seven children and relocated to Milwaukee and finally Lansing, Michigan, after Klu Klux Klan threats.

At the age of 6, Malcolm’s father died after a streetcar hit him, but historians agree that white racists were responsible.

Malcolm attended West Junior High School in Lansing and Mason High School in Mason, Michigan, but left before graduating. He dropped out of high school at 14, despite excelling, after a white teacher told him that practicing law was not a realistic goal for someone of his skin color.

He worked various odd jobs up to the age of 21 and eventually moved to Harlem in New York City in 1943. After escaping World War II military service by faking mental insanity, Malcolm was arrested in 1946 after picking up a stolen watch he had left for repair at a shop.

During his time in prison, he developed an appetite for reading, and it was at this time that he discovered Islam. In 1950, Malcolm started signing his name “Malcolm X,” after sending a letter to President Truman expressing his opposition to the Korean War.

While Elijah Muhammad, the leader of the Nation of Islam, instructed followers to leave the family name behind when joining Islam and using X. Malcolm X explained that the “X” symbolized the African family name he would never know and used “X” as a replacement of his slave master name of “Little.”

After parole in August 1952, he focused on his membership Nation of Islam, establishing many temples.

By the end of the 1950s, Malcolm X was becoming known as a cultural commentator on contemporary issues on behalf of the Nation of Islam.

In 1962 and 1963, Malcolm X started to reassess his relationship with the Nation of Islam, after Elijah Muhammad sidelined him for his comments on the Kennedy assassination.

Malcolm X publicly announced his break from Islam in 1964.

After leaving the Nation of Islam, his conflicts with the members intensified and he was receiving death threats. He rose to prominence as a leading speaker on the Civil Rights movement during this time.

On February 21st, 1965, Malcolm X was getting ready to address members of The Organization of Afro-American Unity, which he had founded since leaving the Nation of Islam.

Malcolm was talking to OAAU members in Manhattan’s Audubon Ballroom when he was shot in the chest by one man and two other men firing semi-automatic weapons.

Malcolm X had a total of 21 gunshot wounds. His body was in public viewing between February 23rd and 26th at Unity Funeral Home in Harlem, with the funeral taking place on February 27th.

His influence was widespread, and by the late 1960s, a number of movements could trace their roots to Malcolm X’s teachings.

Malcolm X has been considered one of the defining activists, not just through the civil rights movements but as a definition of someone who had to endure so much for the sake of their beliefs. So much so that he was prepared for and died for them.

Macy Gray Clowned For National Anthem Performance At NBA All-Star Game, Twitter Reacts

Macy Gray fans have come out in defense of the singer following her rendition of the National Anthem during the NBA All-Star weekend.

Earlier in the day, Macy Gray explained she was “nervous af” ahead of the show.

A post shared by Macy Gray (@macygray)

Her performance of the “Star-Spangled Banner” at the All-Star game on Sunday (Feb. 20) drew comparisons with Fergie’s version four years ago. Both singers belted out a less-than-traditional version of the song, and like Fergie, Macy Gray also raised some eyebrows.

Meanwhile, clips of Lebron James attempting to control his chuckles and a stunned-looking Bill Murray have emerged online.

However, fans are questioning what was expected of the chanteuse, saying this is standard for her performances. “I loved Macy Gray’s version of the National Anthem at NBA Allstars game,” wrote one on Twitter. “I’m serious. It was clean an rugged without all that fluff the singing divas put together. Go Macy. Kept it 100.”

While another said the singer “has ALWAYS sounded & dressed exactly like this.”

Macy Gray Says “Let’s Redesign The Flag”

Nonetheless, Macy Gray is not a fan of the American flag and called for it to be redesigned to reflect modern America. Last year the singer compared it to the Confederate flag, calling it “tattered, dated, divisive and incorrect” in a Juneteenth op-ed she wrote for MarketWatch.

Furthermore, she went on to ask “Why do we have to celebrate a flag that now represents divisiveness and hate?” during an interview with FOX 11. Macy Gray created a new all-inclusive flag with 52 stars to include Washington, D.C., and Puerto Rico.  “I shouldn’t have to honor it, I shouldn’t have to pledge to it,” she explained. “All I’m saying is let’s redesign the flag for the rest of us who aren’t a part of that tribe.”

Listen To King Chad New Album “Purpose”

King Chad has been steadily building a buzz in the music industry over the last few years. Having released multiple singles and four studio albums, he is probably easily considered to be one of the most active and consistent musicians in the industry right now. With every song and album, listeners can see a clear evolution in both skill and abilities.

His newly released album called “Purpose” is quickly making noise as more and more people are drawn in by its unique sound and relatable verses.

This is the fifth album released by the artist and in many ways, it acts as a departure from its previous singles and albums. “Purpose” shows both artistic and stylistic evolution, as the beats are fresher, while simultaneously carrying some of the elements that made King Chad a household name. The lyrics are also much deeper and show that the artist is self-evaluating life as it is through putting out thought-provoking music.

While his songs “My Queen” and “Reminisce” are taking over the radio, the Florida artist has put out a music video for his song Monopoly. Monopoly is one of the more hard-hitting songs from his previous albums called “King’s Palace” as the words within the song carry a lot of weight and truth that many people can relate to.

To maintain that element of familiarity, the music video for Monopoly, which was released on January 8th of 2022, is very simplistic in that it is all filmed within a hometown in Sarasota, FL. The simple elements of the video as well as the reel at the start invoke in the viewer and listener a feeling of comfort and of being at home. While the photography and concept of the video are great, what truly steals the viewers’ attention is the rapper himself.

Throughout the song, you can witness his own emotions of possible hurt and possibility, which along with the lyrics make for an exceptional and yet simple video. In many ways, this video is indeed proof that sometimes less is indeed more.

To view King Chad’s music video for Monopoly you can check out his YouTube channel. His album “Purpose” is now available on all streaming platforms, and for those interested in learning more about the artist and his future music endeavors, King Chad maintains an active Instagram account that he uses to stay in touch with his audience.

Wiz Khalifa Believes Jake Paul Could Take PFL To Another Level

In addition to being an owner of PFL, Wiz is also heavily involved in the marketing and promotions side of the company. During a brief chat with TMZ, Wiz believes signing Jake Paul to the PFL roster would be a serious win for the company.

Paul has proved time and again that he has would it takes to be a professional boxer. However, he has been calling out several fighters in hopes of establishing himself in the world of Mixed Martial Arts.

What Is Moissanite & Why Harlembling Is The Best Jewelry Plug?

The newest trend in hip-hop iced-out jewelry is moissanite. For years the only options for rappers were real diamonds or cz. Diamonds are very expensive and lose value right away. Rappers don’t own a lot of their diamond jewelry and used to simply rent it or get it as promotions from jewelers. CZ is great, however, you can tell it’s not real and it’s embarrassing if someone wants to diamond test your bust down the chain.

In recent years, after rappers started getting called out for wearing fake bling, moissanite became the new thing in the hip-hop scene. Moissanite passes the diamond tester and is so close to real diamonds that even jewelers can’t tell the difference. While we won’t call out names, most rappers now rock moissanite rings, pendants, & earrings. It’s a great choice cause why overspend on diamonds that don’t hold value, better to invest in real estate, stocks, & savings.

Our favorite jeweler is Harlembling. They have great reviews and sell dope iced-out jewelry. www.harlembling.com has thousands of hip-hop rings, pendants, chains, earrings, & more in moissanite. They are the direct plug. They wholesale their jewelry to mall kiosks and jewelry stores across the country. Their prices are amazing and their quality and customer service are a league above the rest! Harlem bling moissanite jewelry passes the diamond tester and they have so much variety you are sure to keep ordering more and more from them.

One of their top-selling items is moissanite stud earrings. You can get a pair of 4ct or 8mm to screw back studs in 14k gold vermeil for under $100! They come with a GRA certificate and look crazy iced out. Best of all they pass the diamond tester so you will never be caught off guard by someone pulling out that diamond tester.

Lil Yachty, Soulja Boy Sued For Crypto Pump And Dump Scheme

Rappers Lil Yachty, Soulja Boy, and rapper/boxer Jake Paul are caught up in a class-action lawsuit claiming they were involved in a pump and dump scheme.

The rappers are among the defendants named in a 60-page complaint over the SafeMoon token.

The lawsuit claims that SafeMoon founder and CEO Braden John Karony recruited celebrities to promote the token, artificially inflating its value.

Karony and other key executives controlled vast amounts of the token, which they never disclosed to the public.

Thanks to the celebrity endorsements, the token’s value rose by 875% throughout 2021.

Several executives left the company that year as the value of the SafeMoon token began to crash. By December 31st, 2021, the token had lost 80% of its value, and the company failed to deliver on various projects, including a hyped-up crypto wallet.

The lawsuit claims executives did a “slow rug pull” on investors, leaving them with massive losses.

Lil Yachty, Soulja Boy, and Jake Paul are not the first rappers to get caught up in lawsuits involving cryptocurrency schemes.

T.I. was sued but cleared over similar allegations involving the promotion of the FliK Token. The Atlanta rapper ended up paying out a $75,000 settlement to the SEC.

Rapper Game was on the losing end of a lawsuit involving the so-called Paragon coin.

Paragon was founded by former beauty queen/reality TV show “star” Jessica VerSteeg and her husband, Russian entrepreneur Egor Lavrov. The pair have since disappeared.

In July of 2021 July 2021, a judge ruled Game had to pay $12 million in damages for promoting the company’s PRG Coin.

Meek Mill Refusing To Release New Music Over “Slave” Deal

Meek Mill was an open book with his Twitter fans during an #askmeek session on the microblogging platform.

On Sunday (February 20th), the rap star answered various questions his fans posed to him, regarding everything from his activism and smoking habits, to his recording career.

The Philly rapper seems to be taking his health seriously now that he has stopped smoking marijuana. Meek revealed he stopped smoking cannabis because it impacted his appetite and made him lose weight.

“I quit smoking s### was making me skinny and not eat!!!!” Meek Mill revealed to a fan who asked, “how loud is your weed.”

Another person questioned whether Meek was smoking marijuana or something else since weed is thought to give people the “munchies.”

The rapper elaborated.

“We was smoking 4 gram blunts and backwoods I never smoked my whole adult life….. I’m not a drug guy ima trapper at heart! And I know how to use my brain to get what I want drugs not really my thing!” Meek Mill responded.

However, the most exciting part of the Q&A session came when Meek Mill answered questions about his record deal. Meek has not been shy about dissing Atlantic Records over what he calls an unfair deal.

Furthermore, at the beginning of February, Meek claimed Atlantic “stole” Roddy Ricch from him.

When asked about his biggest regret, Meek said he wished he had “not signed this slave deal … short term deals are best if you need money.”

Meek revealed he was not dropping any more new music and planned to wait out his recording contract.

“I ain’t doing nomore music under a label I don’t make nothing off that ….. ima wait it out,” Meek Mill revealed.

Meek seemed to indicate he would be releasing music on his own platform after his contract with Atlantic Records expired.

“I hate it ima put my music on one platform also …. If you like it you will click the link …. We ain’t getting paid from it really!!!” Make explained.

Atlantic Records Meek Mill’s breakout album 2015’s Dreams Worth More Than Money, 2017’s Wins & Losses, 2018’s Grammy-nominated Championships, and his most recent release released Expensive Pain.

Queen Latifah – The First Hip-Hop Star On The Hollywood Walk Of Fame

A pioneer in every sense of the word, Queen Latifah was born Dana Elaine Owens in Newark, New Jersey, on March 18, 1970.

Daughter of a teacher and a police officer, Queen Latifah was raised as a Baptist and attended Catholic School, where she first started rapping and singing in the locker rooms and restrooms.

The name Latifah means “delicate” and “very kind” in Arabic, which was given to her by a Muslim cousin.

Throughout her childhood, she was always a force to be reckoned with. At a towering 5-ft 10, she was a power forward in her high school basketball team and found her love for performing.

After high school, the future star went to the Borough of Manhattan Community College, where she majored in Communications and started her hip-hop career. Her initial beginnings in hip-hop were back in school when she formed the group Ladies Fresh as a beatboxer.

Latifah caught the attention of famed producer DJ King Gemini who sent a recording of her song “Princess of the Posse” to Fab 5 Freddy, which then got the attention of Dante Ross at Tommy Boy Music. She was signed in 1989 at the age of 19.

Latifah struck major success because she could cross over genres due to singing and rapping on songs like “Ladies First” featuring Monie Love, “Come into My House” and “Just Another Day.”

Not one to stick to easy topics, the subject matter meant she was the first woman in hip-hop to transcend boundaries by talking about political issues and being a black woman in the modern world, as showcased on her massive hit “U.N.I.T.Y.”

Her songs covered subjects as diverse as domestic violence, relationship problems, and harassment on the streets.

It was not long until her career diversified into acting.

After a guest appearance on “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” in 1991 and supporting roles in movies like “Jungle Fever” and “Juice,” Latifah’s big break came when she starred as Khadijah James in the sitcom “Living Single.”

Other film roles included “The Bone Collector,” “Living Out Loud,” and the box-office smash “Set It Off.” Determined to dominate the daytime market, she became the host of her own talk show, “The Queen Latifah Show,” which had an original run between 1999 and 2001.

Her glittering career as an actress culminated with her role as Matron “Mama” Morton in “Chicago,” making her one of the few hip-hop artists to receive an Oscar nomination for acting, joining high-profile names like Jamie Foxx, Common, Will Smith, and Mary J. Blige.

In 2005, Latifah inked a deal with Revlon and started representing the brand’s “Queen Collection” makeup line for black women.

A profound force in hip-hop, R&B, and soul, her influence has been felt across the black community. She is often referred to as the “Queen of Rap” and the “Queen of Hip-Hop” and has also been considered the first “Feminist of Rap.”

Queen Latifah’s legacy has cemented her as one of the most pioneering female figures in Black America, but being the first hip-hop artist to get a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 2006 proved that Latifah has always been paving the way for other artists who wanted to transcend barriers.

Chris Brown Accused Of Drugging Another Woman

In less than a month, Chris Brown has been hit with some heinous accusations – for the second time.

According to NBC Miami, the superstar R&B singer has been accused of drugging another woman in Miami, Florida, last year.

This is a second victim, and the latest allegation is separate from the $20 million lawsuit filed by Jane Doe #1 in January.

Jane Doe #2 has filed a police report with the Miami Beach, Florida Police Department.

The woman says she was in Florida at the same party as the singer’s first alleged victim. Jane Doe #2 said she was uncomfortable at the event, so she decided to leave.

Chris Brown supposedly invited her and a friend back to his hotel suite a few days later.

Sometime during their encounter, Chris Brown had a white powdery substance on his fingers, which he supposedly shoved into Jane Doe #2’s mouth.

The unidentified woman blacked out for several hours. When she regained consciousness, her phone was missing, and her friends were gone.

Thankfully, the woman was not raped. However, she is accusing Chris Brown of battery.

Last month, Chris Brown was hit with a $20 million lawsuit over an incident near Diddy’s home on Star Island in Miami, Florida.

Brown supposedly spiked Jane Doe #1’s drinks with an unknown drug, which caused her to become disoriented and half-conscious. The singer took the woman to a bedroom on a docked yacht near the Bad Boy mogul’s home, where Brown had non-consensual sex with the woman.

Jane Doe #1 says Brown ejaculated inside of her and demanded that she take a Plan B pill the following day to avoid an unwanted pregnancy. She did.

The woman said she never filed a police report because she was ashamed and scared for her life.

Suge Knight Could Be Banned From Court In Civil Suit For Parking Lot Killing

The civil trial of a man killed by rap mogul Suge Knight is about to kick-off – and the family wants to make sure the imprisoned mobile is nowhere near the courtroom.

The family of Terry Carter is suing Suge over a deadly incident in January of 2015.

Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, and several others were at Tam’s Burgers to shoot a promotional commercial for the movie “Straight Outta Compton.”

The former Death Row Records boss showed up uninvited after Dre and Ice Cube left, and a confrontation took place between Cube’s business partner Terry Carter and Cle “Bone” Sloan. Suge tried to leave the parking lot during the fight, and he ran over Carter, killing him and seriously wounding Sloan.

In 2018, Suge Knight pled guilty to voluntary manslaughter and was sentenced to 28 years in prison.

Terry Carter’s widow and his two daughters sued Suge and Dre, Ice Cube, and the producers of “Straight Outta Compton” for negligence, claiming they were aware of the decades-long beef between Suge and Dre.

They created an unsafe environment or the set by allowing Suge to show up due to a lack of security.

The Carter’s lawyers filed documents to keep Suge out of the courtroom on Friday.

According to the City News Service, Suge Knight’s interests are adequately represented by his longtime lawyer, David Kenner.

Furthermore, Carter’s family says Suge refused to participate in pre-trial discovery. Because of this, the Carters say shook should not be allowed to testify on his own behalf either.

They argue that Suge’s plea deal amounted to an implied confession. The judge has yet to issue a ruling.

The trial is scheduled to begin on March 7th.

The Game Replies To Rumors About Inviting Jay-Z To His Privates!

Did Jay-Z stop The Game from getting any inroads with the Super Bowl? Jay-Z is known to be the boss of all bosses, but does he hold a grudge of all grudges?

We know that The Game has ruffled his fair share of feathers in this rap game. But many years ago, he did a freestyle they’re basically dissing Jay-Z, and then he did other moments where he does go at Jigga man! I mean, he has numerous instances where he disrespected the Roc Nation King.🤦🏾‍♂️

So when it came time to do the Super Bowl halftime show, Which Jay-Z managed through his Roc Nation Sports Enterprise, The Bompton King had a bit of a problem. It didn’t matter that Dr. Dre was running that halftime show or even that 50 Cent had a problem with Jay in the past. Jay-Z and 50 Cent’s old stuff didn’t stifle the business. The Game did not appear on the stage.🤦🏾‍♂️

Wack100, the card-carrying Piru that manages Game, alleges that Jay-Z banned The Gaame from the game! He also alleges that Game cursed out Jay! Recently.🤦🏾‍♂️

The GAME had something to say about this. And he is not agreeing with his manager on this one.

Blac Chyna Taking On The Entire Kardashian Clan For Ruining Her Reality Show After Rob Drops Lawsuit

A Kardashian is in the news, and it is not Kim.

Rob Kardashian has dropped his assault lawsuit against his ex-girlfriend Blac Chyna.

The only brother in the Kardashian clan filed to have his lawsuit against his ex-girlfriend dismissed without prejudice for the sake of their daughter.

According to Radar Online, Rob was suing her for damages in the amount of $767,852 over an alleged assault and battery.

In September 2017, Rob Kardashian filed a claim accusing Chyna of strangling him with an iPhone charger cord after taking a bunch of drugs and drinking alcohol. The Armenian-American took to social media to claim that Chyna left him with injuries to his neck.

The former stripper denied that there was anything truth to these allegations. However, Rob suddenly dropped the charges on the heels of shocking text messages he sent to Blac Chyna’s “friend” Pilot Jones, hitting the net last week.

In what could be described as a messy love triangle, Pilot Jones sued Blac Chyna and Rob Kardashian for $2 million, claiming the couple cyber-bullied him and accused him of leaking pictures of him kissing Blac Chyna.

Text messages Rob sent Pilot, which included him using the “N-word” and threatening to have the man beat up, were being considered as evidence to prove Rob was unstable during the trial.

According to Rob, he dropped the lawsuit out of an abundance of caution for their daughter, Dream.

“My love for Dream far outweighs my desire to proceed with my claims against her mother in a public trial,” Rob Kardashian said. “Now that the court has ruled that there is sufficient evidence to warrant a jury trial on my claim for assault, for our daughter’s sake, I am dismissing the action and focusing on my co-parenting relationship with Chyna.”

A judge has approved the motion and squashed the trial, which was set for February 23rd.

However, Blac Chyna’s lawyer slammed Rob and said she would go after him for court costs and the legal fees she incurred for defending herself against the lawsuit.

“Rob Kardashian should have thought of his daughter Dream before he filed his malicious and baseless assault and battery lawsuit against Dream’s mother, Angela White aka Blac Chyna, more than four years ago. Rob has sought to use his wealth and power via this vexatious lawsuit to smear Chyna as a mother and even as a human being for more than four years,” Blac Chyna’s lawyer Lynne Ciani told AllHipHop.com in a fiery statement.

“This entire time, Chyna has had to live through hell with Rob’s horrific and false accusations hanging over her head. Chyna was finally about to have her day in court…where she was prepared to prove with evidence that Rob’s claim that she physically attacked and assaulted him was a malicious lie.

“Instead, Rob dropped his case on the eve of trial, not because he suddenly wanted to drop the case ‘for the sake of his daughter,’ but because he knew his assault and battery accusations against Chyna were false. In other words, Rob’s avoidance of the serious consequences of an adverse jury verdict is why he dropped his case, not his supposed “concern” for his daughter.”

In addition to legal fees, Blac Chyna is suing Kris Jenner, Kim Kardashian West, Khloe, and Kylie Jenner for defamation. Chyna says the Kardashian clan falsely accused her of beating up Rob and using their power in Hollywood to cancel the former couple’s #1 hit show “Rob & Chyna.”

Blac Chyna’s lawsuit against the Kardashian’s is slated to take place on April 15th, 2022.

Once that trial is over, Blac Chyna will go after Rob Kardashian in court for revenge p### for posting naked pictures of her with another man on Instagram.

Canyon’s latest single, “IN THE PAINT,” shows off his rebellious and free-spirited side while displaying a whole new side of him that fans have yet to see. “IN THE PAINT,” featuring Mvthabrain, is Canyon’s debut visual and it’s everything that audiences have been anticipating.

Canyon is an artist who says that music ultimately reflects the bigger picture in his life.

“I feel like music is a microcosm for my life,” Canyon said. “Like if I’m doing well mentally the music I’m making is gonna be on point. If I’m struggling, or mentally all over the place, the music is gonna reflect that too. So I love that.”

He says that his inspiration comes from real life experiences, and sometimes things that he sees or hears on a daily basis, which is why he feels as though music reflects his life.

“It makes music feel so important because it’s so reflective of where my head is at,” he continues. “Smoking inspires me. Meditation inspires me. Sometimes what will inspire me is hearing a dope kind of background beat at a restaurant and all of a sudden my mind starts kind of automatically creating a flow to it.”

“This song [IN THE PAINT] is about me saying that I’ve grown up since I was in high school, but I’m still a rebellious, free-thinking motherf–ker like I was back then,” the rapper stated.

Finding inspiration among his musical idols comes easy to Canyon. While his signature raspy flow and powerful delivery on “IN THE PAINT” marked him unique, he was mainly influenced by several well-known hip-hop greats on his quest to develop his identity as an artist.

“I feel like everyone that I listen to subconsciously influences me a little the next time I spit,” Canyon said. “Tupac for sure was the first person to get me into writing raps when I was a little kid. He’s a hero of mine. Other than that, there’s Eminem, Lil Wayne, Kanye, Wu-Tang, Jadakiss, Cudi, and more,” he added.

The feedback the young rapper has gotten from fans and musical influencers alike is perhaps most motivating according to him. Canyon has already caught the attention of some of hip hop’s biggest giants as his first two albums continue to gather popularity, racking up over a million listens on music-sharing site SoundCloud.

Many people feel that Canyon exudes the “IT” factor, including Jadakiss, Raekwon, and Outkast associate Big Rube. Their endorsements have given the fledgling rapper a lot of legitimacy, but they’ve also been “the proudest and most bizarre moments in his career so far,” having grown up looking up to these artists and appreciating all of their music.

Canyon continues to look forward to the future of his profession as the year draws to a close. As he discloses plans for releasing his debut album in 2022, be on the lookout for new music in the coming months.

House of Petals Is Bringing Back ‘90s Era Rock and Roll

Any true fan of rock and roll music in Hollywood knows the House of Petals. This is where the late rock and roll legend Eddie Van Halen spent many of his nights sharing his creativity and passion. House of Petals, owned by Joey House, was an everyday flower shop by day. But once night fell, music reigned supreme.

A creative, loving, and humorous artist, Eddie was loved by many who came to see him perform. Eddie held many spontaneous jam sessions with other musicians at House of Petals. Some of the most iconic works performed in the House of Petals include Eddie’s Michael Jackson’s BAD contribution.

Artists from other backgrounds would also come to the venue to enjoy the music and mingle with their fans without the cameras following them. The likes of Halle Berry, Farrah Fawcett, Sean Penn, and Tone Loc were common faces. And then, when everyone was gone, Joey and Eddie would stay up late creating more music, laughing, and talking. It was during those moments that the House of Petals guitar collection was born.

“That’s the core culture and true soul of the project,” says Joey. “I want to bring back some of that feeling of love and collaboration, that raw creative energy that really fuels the art and music world. I want to give that to people in this new incredible way”

With Eddie gone, Joey has found a way of bringing back the mood and creativity that marked that season. On March 25, 2022, the journey will begin with the House of Petals NFT project launch. The project will begin with a collection of guitars and flowers. The two custom-made physical guitars Eddie gifted Joey will only be part of a larger collection.

“I want to memorialize the history of Rock’N Roll through the metaverse,” said Carrie Lyn of The Creative House, who is focused on bringing long-term value to NFT holders. “We can be immersed in the history versus reading a book or watching a documentary. Artificial intelligence NFTs are coming. All the while, we are nurturing the upcoming generations that are still finding their sound.”

The project developers are certain that the NFTs will sell out quickly. They are therefore not stopping there. Once the NFTs sell out, parts of the funds collected will be used to build the House of Petals in the metaverse. The project members will then gain exclusive access to this venue. They will also enjoy its events and greenroom hangouts with artists, players, and influencers. The developers also promise more surprises before and after this first NFT mint release.

The House of Petals NFT project will extend its benefits outside the metaverse. According to Duquan Brown of Future Media, HOP project lead, the project will stick to its main goal, which is to memorialize rock and roll history. While books are good for sharing history, experiencing something for yourself is better, and that’s what they want. When future generations want a taste of the ’90s, all they’ll need to do is get a House of Petals NFT. In a lot of ways, the experience will be like going on a tour without leaving the house said Brown.

House of Petals will also be hosting concerts, both virtual and physical. These concerts will provide artists from different backgrounds an opportunity to bond and connect. Eddie cared deeply about up-and-coming artists, and that’s something the project cares about too. These artists will play special concerts where they will have the stage to themselves.

Part of the money raised from the project will be donated towards initiatives that Eddie cared about. These include City of Hope for cancer treatment and research, Eric Clapton’s rehab center Crossroads, and providing guitar and piano lessons to underprivileged music students. A national high school tour will be conducted in his honor.
