“Predator: Badlands” Redefines Sci-Fi Franchise Through Heart & Action

Review: “Predator: Badlands”

Predator: Badlands marks the latest chapter in the long-running Predator franchise, once again helmed by Dan Trachtenberg, whose credits include 10 Cloverfield Lane, Prey and Predator: Killer of Killers. The new installment in the 38-year-old series features a strong cast led by Dimitrius Schuster-Koloamatangi, Elle Fanning and Cliff Curtis.

The film follows Dek, a young Yautja viewed as the weak link of his clan, who sets out to earn the respect of his ruthless father, Njohri. Tasked with hunting an unkillable creature known as The Kalisk, Dek travels to the volatile planet Genna. There, he encounters Thia, a damaged synthetic robot. Together, Dek and Thia form an unexpected alliance as they navigate the planet’s deadly terrain, facing both monstrous threats and emotional revelations in their quest to confront The Kalisk.

Simply put, Predator: Badlands is an impressive entry in the franchise. Building on the success of Prey and Predator: Killer of Killers, Trachtenberg returns with a bold, emotional and often humorous sci-fi adventure packed with thrilling action. What sets Badlands apart is its perspective—it unfolds through the eyes of the Yautja rather than the hunted humans. This fresh approach transforms the film into a coming-of-age story that balances heart, spectacle and mythology.

Schuster-Koloamatangi delivers a standout performance as Dek, skillfully conveying depth and emotion through physical expression. His portrayal anchors the film, making Dek’s journey both gripping and relatable. Fanning shines as Thia, bringing warmth, wit and sincerity to her role. Her dynamic with Dek feels genuine, creating an unexpected sense of partnership that drives the film’s emotional core. Meanwhile, Cliff Curtis brings authority and menace as Njohri, embodying the violent pride of a father pushing his son to extremes.

Trachtenberg’s direction continues to elevate the Predator universe. With his third contribution, he expands the mythology and visual scope, exploring the culture and communication of the Yautja species in greater depth than ever before. The film’s pacing is brisk and its world-building feels rich without bogging down the action.

Despite its PG-13 rating, Badlands delivers exhilarating set pieces and intense survival moments. From the creatures of Genna to the climactic showdown, the action sequences are expertly executed. Visually, the film is stunning—Jeff Cutter’s cinematography captures the alien landscapes beautifully, while the CGI work from Weta FX and ILM enhances the realism and spectacle.

Some longtime fans may take issue with the film’s lighter tone. The emotional beats, humor and presence of a creature companion give it a more accessible feel compared to the grittier 1987 original or 2022’s Prey. Still, as a sci-fi adventure with heart, Badlands succeeds on its own terms.

Clocking in at a lean one hour and 47 minutes, Predator: Badlands is a refreshing and ambitious addition to the series. While it trades some of the franchise’s brutality for emotional depth and inventive storytelling, it remains a thrilling and visually captivating ride.

Rating: 4 out of 5

Predator: Badlands is now playing in theaters nationwide.

Tory Lanez Suffers Devastating Blow As Court Upholds Megan Thee Stallion Conviction

Tory Lanez suffered another devastating legal blow on Wednesday (November 12), when California’s appeals court rejected his bid to overturn his conviction for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in 2020.

The three-justice panel from the 2nd District Court of Appeal delivered a 46-page ruling that demolished the defense’s claims of trial errors, cementing the Canadian rapper’s 10-year prison sentence.

The 33-year-old artist now faces mounting legal pressure, as he has been ordered to sit for his third deposition in Megan’s ongoing defamation lawsuit against blogger Milagro Gramz. However, court documents reveal he won’t have to answer questions about the actual shooting incident that landed him behind bars.

The appeals court justices delivered a scathing assessment of the Tory Lanez/ case, noting the testimony was “more than sufficient to support the jury’s finding that the rapper personally inflicted great bodily injury on” the Grammy-winning rapper, whose real name is Megan Pete.

The ruling effectively ends Tory Lanez’s hopes of escaping his December 2022 conviction on three felony counts: assault with a semiautomatic firearm, possession of a concealed unregistered firearm and negligent discharge of a firearm.

The shooting occurred July 12, 2020 during a heated argument following a gathering at Kylie Jenner‘s Hollywood Hills residence.

During the explosive trial, Megan testified that Tory Lanez shot her in both feet after telling her to “dance, b####,” and later offered her $1 million to stay quiet about the incident.

The Houston rapper initially hesitated to speak publicly, admitting she “didn’t want to be a snitch” but felt compelled to “defend [her] name” when false narratives began circulating.

Tory Lanez’s legal troubles have only intensified since his incarceration.

During an April deposition related to Megan’s defamation case against Milagro Gramz, the imprisoned rapper turned the proceedings into chaos.

Lanez repeatedly interrupted attorneys, accused them of planning to leak footage “to fake some sort of narrative,” and deflected basic questions by demanding definitions of simple words like “discuss” and “approve.”

When asked if he agreed that Megan Thee Stallion and Megan Pete were the same person, he responded evasively: “There’s a lot of Ms. Petes in this world. Which Ms. Pete are you talking about?” He even instructed his lawyer to “Google how many Megan Petes there are in the world.”

The disruptive behavior backfired spectacularly. A federal judge ordered Tory Lanez to pay Megan’s legal fees for the botched deposition and mandated that his upcoming third deposition be supervised by a magistrate judge.

Megan’s legal team described his conduct as “so disruptive, inflammatory and inconsistent with the basic norms of civil litigation” that it “made a mockery of the proceedings.”

The defamation lawsuit centers on allegations that Milagro Gramz, whose real name is Milagro Cooper, acted as the rap star’s “paid surrogate” to spread “vicious and hateful rumors” about Megan. The case claims Cooper promoted deepfake pornographic videos of the rapper and falsely suggested she suffers from alcoholism and requires a guardian.

In January, a Los Angeles judge granted Megan a five-year restraining order against Tory Lanez, citing “conduct that culminated in [Lanez] shooting approximately five rounds at petitioner that resulted in injuries to her.”

The order requires him to stay at least 100 yards away from Megan until January 2030.

During emotional testimony for the restraining order, Megan revealed the ongoing toll of the harassment campaign: “I haven’t been at peace since I been shot, and I’m just trying to be un-harassed, not only by the person who shot me, but by the people he’s been paying to continue to harass me.”

A$AP Relli Drops A$AP Rocky Lawsuit, Says It Ruined His Career

A$AP Relli has officially pulled the plug on his assault lawsuit against A$AP Rocky, ending a long legal standoff that stemmed from a 2021 confrontation outside a Hollywood hotel.

The civil trial, which was slated to begin in January, would have revisited the same incident that led to Rocky’s criminal trial earlier this year, where he was acquitted of firing a gun at Relli, born Terrell Ephron. But now, Relli has opted to walk away from the case entirely.

“At this point, he’s ready to simply move on from the shooting,” Relli’s attorney told Billboard. “The ordeal has been a nightmare for him, and the statements calling him a ‘liar’ and worse effectively eliminated his chances of a career in the industry.”

The decision marks a major shift in a saga that began in November 2021, when Relli accused Rocky, whose legal name is Rakim Mayers, of firing two shots at him during an argument. Rocky has always denied the allegation, claiming the weapon was a prop gun loaded with blanks.

In 2022, prosecutors charged the Grammy-nominated rapper with two felony counts of assault with a firearm. Rocky refused a plea deal and took the case to trial, where he was acquitted in February.

Despite dropping the assault suit, Relli is still pursuing a separate defamation case against both Rocky and his attorney, Joe Tacopina. The lawsuit centers on media interviews in which they dismissed Relli’s claims as “extortion” and a “get-rich-quick-scheme.”

The initial civil suit, filed in 2022, sought financial damages for the alleged shooting. Unlike the criminal case, the civil trial would have required a lower standard of proof. But with the case now dismissed, Relli appears to be shifting his focus.

His attorney said he’s now “focusing on rebuilding his life.” The dropped lawsuit clears Rocky of any remaining assault-related litigation tied to the November 2021 incident.

Tiffany Haddish Makes Surprising Wedding Announcement On Her Africa Trip

Tiffany Haddish turned a girls’ trip into a personal milestone when she married herself during a private ceremony in Africa, aiming to embrace self-accountability and inner growth.

The Emmy-winning actress and comedian, 45, staged the symbolic wedding while filming her upcoming Peacock docuseries, Tiffany Haddish Goes Off, set to premiere Thursday (November 13).

The six-part series follows Haddish and her childhood friends—Selena Martin, Shermona Long and Sparkle Clark—through Zimbabwe and Cape Town, South Africa.

“I thought to do that because first, I wanted to have a little party,” Haddish told the New York Post. “Second, I also wanted to hold myself accountable for some things.”

The trip wasn’t just for adventure. Haddish used the journey to reflect on her personal challenges and renew her commitment to herself.

The self-marriage comes after a turbulent stretch for Haddish, including two DUI-related arrests in 2022 and 2023.

In 2024, she also drew backlash on social media after posting a TikTok video expressing surprise at finding a grocery store in Zimbabwe. Some viewed the clip as culturally tone-deaf.

Haddish also faced criticism online after visiting Israel in early 2024, stating it was an “educational trip” to learn firsthand about the aftermath of the October 7 attacks and the ongoing conflict.

Haddish likened the criticism to physical pain. “Getting social media backlash feels ‘like walking on a Lego,'” she said. “I’ve got to be more careful about what I post. It’s irritating, but it’s a part of the business.”

Tiffany Haddish Reveals “Marriage” Has Boosted Her Dating Life

The actress was previously married to William Stewart from 2008 to 2013 and dated Common from 2020 to 2021. But this time, she’s committing to herself.

“This marriage to me has been going very good. We have been having a fantastic time seeing who our third is going to be,” Haddish joked. “Who is gonna be the third wheel?”

The unconventional ceremony has even changed her dating life. “I’m getting more dates now, when I tell [men] I’m married. If you tell a man you’re married, but you’re willing to go out with him, he’s like, ‘Oh, she’s a freak!'”

Haddish also maintains a close bond with fellow comedian Kevin Hart, who once helped her during a rough patch by paying for a hotel when she was homeless. When asked if Hart knew about her new marital status, she replied, “You just told him.”

“It’s not everybody’s business that I’m in a relationship with me. I mean, first of all, my relationship with me is my relationship…So I haven’t told everybody,” the comic said. “Sometimes I wear my wedding ring and people are like, ‘Oh, my God, where did you get that?’ I’m like ‘Africa. I’m married!'”

She closed the conversation with a message about honoring personal commitments.

“If you going to keep any promises in life, the promises you make to yourself are the main ones you need to be keeping,” she explained. “That’s the longest relationship you’re going to have, and there’s no ceremony for you, to you. There’s no ceremony for that. So, f### it, I’m marrying me.”

“A Different World” Sequel Series Directed By Legend Debbie Allen Nearly Netflix-Ready

Netflix is taking viewers back to Hillman College with the announcement of a sequel to A Different World, the beloved 1980s sitcom that helped redefine television’s portrayal of Black college life.

The streaming giant confirmed the news in a statement, declaring, “We’re officially heading back to Hillman! Introducing the cast of A Different World, a new sequel series, coming soon to Netflix.”

The revival will reunite key creative forces from the original series, blending nostalgia with a modern perspective. Acclaimed producer and director Debbie Allen will return as both director and executive producer, teaming up with Felicia Pride, known for her work on Grey’s Anatomy and Bel-Air, who will serve as showrunner and executive producer.

“It is such an honor to be a part of bringing back this iconic show, one that I grew up on and which had a profound impact on my life,” Felicia Pride told Netflix. “I am so proud of the work we’re doing to reimagine A Different World for beloved fans and new generations alike.”

Allen, also an accomplished dancer, echoed the sentiment.

“There couldn’t be a better time than now to reboot A Different World,” Allen told Netflix’s Tudum. “Our show changed lives, tripled the enrollment of historically black colleges and gave a strong voice and platform for Young Black America. The incredible fresh young talent we have discovered paired with the lovable audience favorite OGs makes this much-anticipated return a must-see on Netflix.”

Also joining the project are Reggie Rock Bythewood and Gina Prince-Bythewood, the husband-and-wife duo behind Shots Fired and The Woman King. Both worked as writers on the original A Different World and now return as executive producers alongside Mandy Summers and original series producer Tom Werner.

The sequel will center on Deborah Wayne, the free-spirited daughter of A Different World icons Dwayne Wayne and Whitley Gilbert-Wayne. The series will follow Deborah as she begins her freshman year at Hillman, determined to carve out her own legacy while navigating friendships, academics, and modern social issues on campus.

The original A Different World, which aired from 1987 to 1993, was a spin-off of The Cosby Show and became a groundbreaking hit for its authentic depiction of HBCU (Historically Black Colleges and Universities) culture. The series tackled topics ranging from racial identity and politics to love, ambition, and community responsibility.

Netflix’s revival aims to honor that legacy and reintroduce Hillman to a new generation of viewers. Production details and casting announcements are expected in the coming months.

Chrisean Rock Claims Blueface Attacked Her In His Kitchen

Chrisean Rock ended all co-parenting plans with Blueface after she claimed he violently attacked her during a recent visit to his home in Los Angeles.

The 24-year-old reality star and rapper went live on Instagram to break the news, revealing she’s relocating to Baltimore permanently and leaving behind both the West Coast and her turbulent relationship with Blueface.

She also shared that she’s engaged to a new partner and building a life far away from the chaos.

“If you want to see me, come to Baltimore,” Rock said during the livestream. “I just bought acres of land, I’m building a foundation, a compound, I’m getting married… I’m out the way on purpose, bruh.”

The alleged incident that led to her decision involved a violent confrontation inside Blueface’s kitchen.

“I got stomped out in his kitchen, that’s the last time me and my son will ever be around that. … I’m not doing no co-parenting if my life is on the line,” she said.

The split comes after what seemed like a brief reconciliation following Blueface’s release from jail. That reunion quickly unraveled, and Blueface has since gone public with a new relationship with Love & Hip Hop alum Hazel-E.

The pair’s relationship has long been marred by public disputes and accusations of abuse. Over the years, both Rock and Blueface have aired their grievances online, turning personal issues into headline fodder and social media spectacles.

Rock’s move back to Maryland signals a major shift. She’s investing in property, focusing on raising her son and distancing herself from Los Angeles, where much of her public drama with Blueface has played out.

Her new engagement adds another layer to the story, though she has yet to reveal the identity of her fiancé. Still, she made it clear she’s seeking peace and stability.

This development follows years of back-and-forth between the two, but Rock’s latest comments suggest she’s drawing a firm line.

Jeffrey Epstein Says Trump “Knew About The Girls” In Bombshell Emails

Donald Trump has been thrust back into the Epstein controversy after House Democrats released a batch of emails on Wednesday suggesting the former president knew about Jeffrey Epstein’s abuse of young women and chose to stay silent.

The newly revealed exchanges, part of a trove of 23,000 documents obtained from Epstein’s estate, include messages between Epstein, his longtime associate Ghislaine Maxwell, and journalist Michael Wolff.

The emails, spanning from 2011 to 2019, were made public by the Democratic members of the House Oversight Committee.

In one 2011 email to Maxwell, Epstein cryptically referred to Trump as “that dog that hasn’t barked,” writing: “I want you to realize that that dog that hasn’t barked is trump.. [Victim] spent hours at my house with him ,, he has never once been mentioned.” Maxwell replied, “I have been thinking about that.”

A more pointed accusation came in a 2019 email to Wolff, where Epstein wrote: “Of course he knew about the girls as he asked ghislaine to stop.” He also pushed back on Trump’s previous claim that he had banned Epstein from Mar-a-Lago, stating, “never a member ever.”

Another email from December 2015 showed Epstein and Wolff strategizing over how Trump might respond to questions from CNN about his ties to Epstein.

When Epstein asked, “if we were able to craft an answer for him, what do you think it should be?” Wolff responded, “If he says he hasn’t been on the plane or to the house, then that gives you a valuable PR and political currency.”

Wolff added, “You can hang him in a way that potentially generates a positive benefit for you, or, if it really looks like he could win, you could save him, generating a debt.”

Robert Garcia, the top Democrat on the Oversight Committee, said the emails raise serious concerns.

“The more Donald Trump tries to cover up the Epstein files, the more we uncover. These latest emails and correspondence raise glaring questions about what else the White House is hiding and the nature of the relationship between Epstein and the President.”

The revelations come as Maxwell, who is serving a 20-year sentence for sex trafficking, is reportedly seeking clemency from Trump’s administration. House Judiciary Democrats have already called on the former president to reject any pardon request.

Ro Khanna, a California Democrat, said the disclosures support his bipartisan push with Rep. Thomas Massie to force a House vote on making the full Epstein files public.

“The public deserves transparency and the survivors deserve justice,” Khanna said.

Meanwhile, Hakeem Jeffries, House Minority Leader, accused Republicans of shielding Epstein’s network. “They are running a pedophile protection program,” Jeffries said.

The White House has not commented on the email release. Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt is expected to address the issue during Wednesday’s briefing.

Epstein died by suicide in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex-trafficking charges.

His network allegedly trafficked underage girls to high-profile figures across multiple states and the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The emails are part of a broader push by House Democrats to force the release of the so-called “Epstein Files,” which include names and details tied to his criminal operation.

Locked Up: Akon Arrested In Georgia On Outstanding Warrant

Akon found himself behind bars last Thursday morning (November 6), when Georgia law enforcement executed an outstanding warrant against the multi-platinum artist.

The Chamblee Police Department took the 52-year-old performer into custody, processing him through the DeKalb County jail system before his release approximately six hours later. Born Aliaune Thiam, the “Lonely” hitmaker posed for his booking photograph wearing a black hoodie, maintaining a stoic expression throughout the procedure.

Authorities confirmed the detention stemmed from an out-of-county warrant, though specific details regarding the underlying charges remain undisclosed. The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office verified the morning arrest and subsequent booking process to media outlets.

The brief incarceration marks another chapter in what has been a tumultuous year for the Senegalese-American artist. His estranged wife Tomeka Thiam filed divorce papers in September, just four days before their 29th wedding anniversary would have occurred.

Despite the legal entanglement, the Grammy-nominated performer’s detention proved temporary. Jail records indicate his processing and release occurred within the same day, suggesting either bond payment or resolution of the warrant’s underlying issues.

Akon’s representatives have not responded to requests for comment regarding the circumstances surrounding the warrant or his brief detention. The nature of the out-of-county legal matter that prompted the arrest remains under investigation.

The development comes as the “Smack That” collaborator continues managing various business ventures, including his ambitious Akon City project in Senegal, which he recently defended against cancelation reports.

Akon’s legal team has yet to issue any public statements regarding the Georgia incident or potential future court appearances related to the outstanding warrant.

Akon claimed to have served years in prison and been the leader of a car theft ring, but investigations have shown these claims were largely embellished to enhance his street credibility. In reality, Akon spent a few months in jail around 1998 for possession of a stolen car, but the charges were later dropped, and he was never convicted as a ringleader or served a long prison sentence.

He was, however, convicted of felony gun possession and received three years’ probation.

Beyond his self-promoted criminal background, Akon faced controversy for several other legal incidents. In 2007, he was charged with endangering a minor and harassment after tossing a teenager offstage during a concert, an event that resulted in minor injuries to an audience member.

That same year, he faced public backlash for simulating sexual acts onstage with an underage girl in Trinidad and Tobago, which led to the loss of corporate sponsorships.

Rod Wave Busted With Baby Bottle Full Of Lean & Gun Tucked In His Waistband

Rod Wave was arrested in Atlanta after police discovered a baby bottle filled with suspected promethazine in his vehicle during a late-night traffic stop that began with the rapper allegedly speeding through a residential stop sign.

The 25-year-old Florida native was pulled over Friday night after an officer observed him driving 45 mph in a 30 mph zone on Defoor Avenue NW.

According to the arrest warrant, the officer trailed the vehicle without activating lights, writing, “I had a suspicion that the vehicle would flee.”

After following Rod Wave to a QuikTrip gas station, police searched his vehicle and found what they described as “1 fl oz of a purple liquid” suspected to be promethazine inside a baby bottle.

Promethazine, a Schedule V drug, is commonly mixed with codeine and soda to create lean, a substance deeply ingrained in Southern Hip-Hop culture.

The use of baby bottles to consume lean has become a recognizable trend in certain Hip-Hop circles. The bottles are favored for their slow-sip design to help enhance the drug’s sedative effect.

Also in the car was Jamond Byner, who was arrested after police found roughly 7 grams of marijuana and linked him to the same baby bottle.

The search turned up more than just the baby bottle and some weed.

Officers also recovered additional suspected promethazine, oxycodone—a Schedule II controlled substance—a black backpack filled with bundled cash, a Sig Sauer P320 9mm handgun and a Glock .40 caliber pistol with a high-capacity magazine tucked into Rod Wave’s waistband.

Rod Wave now faces multiple charges, including possession of a firearm during the commission of certain felonies, possession of Schedule II and Schedule V controlled substances, reckless driving and violating Georgia’s Controlled Substances Act.

He was released Saturday after posting an $8,000 bond. His lawyer blasted the Atlanta Police Department for profiling Rod Wave.

“We look forward to vigorously challenging this baseless arrest and the clear violations of Mr. Green’s rights in court,” his attorneys said.

The arrest came on the same day Rod Wave earned his first Grammy nomination, casting a shadow over what should have been a career milestone.

This incident marks his second run-in with Atlanta law enforcement this year. In May, he surrendered to police in connection with more than a dozen charges related to a domestic call in Milton.

AI Country “Artist” Tops Billboard Chart With Synthetic Hit, Hip-Hop’s Trouble Begins

AI has made history once again. And this time, people are getting nervous.

“Walk My Walk” is a song from an artist named Breaking Rust and that song has climbed to No. 1 on Billboard’s Country Digital Song Sales chart. This makes it the first AI-generated country song to ever top a Billboard ranking. This AI era we’re stepping into is getting stranger and stranger. But this is notable.

Breaking Rust sounds like a heartbroken cowboy with a scruffy voice. And yet, there is no traceable human identity. He/it is is fully AI. The digital singer boasts over 2 million monthly listeners on Spotify and several tracks have crossed the million-stream mark. “Livin’ on Borrowed Time,” another fan favorite, has already surpassed 4 million plays. This is happening.

The project’s creator Aubierre Rivaldo Taylor is an unknown. Taylor is credited as the songwriter behind Breaking Rust and appears linked to another AI experiment called Defbeatsai. Defbeatsai is like weird country music with a vulgar twist. Many people question if Taylor actually exists.

“Walk My Walk” has made history but Morgan Wallen’s “I Got Better” has the top spot on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart. Cody Johnson’s “Travelin’ Soldier” leads U.S. country tracks across streaming platforms. Nevertheless, Breaking Rust’s rise marks a shift. They are disrupting the game and they are making money.

And what about Hip-Hop?

AI’s breakthrough in country music could soon hit Hip-Hop just as hard, if not harder. We love rap for that raw storytelling, individuality and uniquely lived experience. Now, we stand at the cross roads where it could all be turned on its ear. “Keep It Real” will never mean the same. They will be mimicking tone, slang and stealing flows from real MCs. While some see opportunity…producers experimenting with AI tools to expand their sound or indie artists leveling the playing field…others are going to cheat. Hip-Hop could lose its soul.

The danger is real for Hip-Hop, which gives voice to the voiceless. As labels explore AI-driven projects for profit, Hip-Hop will on the menu. Even the created rappers like Bhad Bhabie are in jeopardy.

Major artists including Sir Elton John and Dua Lipa want regulations! Not everybody is Timbaland.

Nas Leads “1 Dollar, 1 Mic, 1 Movement” Push To Fund Hip-Hop’s First Permanent Museum

Nas kicked off a major movement for Hip-Hop and history with a $1 million donation at The Hip Hop Museum‘s 2025 Black Tie Gala, setting the tone for a worldwide $1 fundraising push happening December 2.

The Bronx-based institution is launching its “1 Dollar, 1 Mic, 1 Movement” campaign on Giving Tuesday, asking supporters across the globe to chip in just one dollar to help build Hip-Hop’s first permanent museum.

The campaign’s goal is simple: unite the culture through small donations that collectively create a powerful impact.

“Hip-Hop gave us a voice, let’s give it a home,” Nas stated.

Resorts World New York City matched Nas’s contribution, doubling the night’s total to $2 million and giving the museum’s campaign a significant lift.

Organizers now hope to tap into the worldwide Hip-Hop community’s strength in numbers.

The museum, which is set to open in late 2026 along the Harlem River in the Bronx, will celebrate every corner of the culture—from DJs and MCs to breakdancers and business pioneers. It will also spotlight Hip-Hop’s influence on activism and global movements.

The D.O.C. Joins “1 Dollar, 1 Mic, 1 Movement” Campaign

Several legends have already pledged their support for the “1 Dollar, 1 Mic, 1 Movement,” including Slick Rick, Doug E. Fresh, Salt of Salt-N-Pepa, Big Daddy Kane, DJ Cassidy and The D.O.C.. Each will help spread the word ahead of the December 2 push.

The campaign’s concept leans on symbolism as much as fundraising. The idea is that every dollar represents a microphone—amplifying the voices and stories that shaped the genre’s past and future.

To participate, supporters can text 1DollarForHipHop to 707070 or donate online at thhm.org/1dollar.

The Bronx location is no accident. The borough is considered the birthplace of Hip-Hop, where DJ Kool Herc first experimented with breakbeats in the 1970s, laying the foundation for a global cultural force. The museum’s site along the Harlem River marks a return to where it all began.

The “1 Dollar, 1 Mic, 1 Movement” campaign officially launches on Giving Tuesday (December 2).

‘Look like something LUSH would sell’: Ohio Taco Bell worker reveals Baja Blast Pie. Then she takes a bite, concerning viewers

An Ohio Taco Bell worker recently tried the new Mountain Dew Baja Blast Pie, which is a promotional item that some commenters think is indicative of 2025’s unhinged fast food marketing era.

TikTok creator TaCara (@tmprettyy) posted a video of her Baja Blast Pie review on Oct. 30. The video shows TaCara with a slice of the turquoise pie that she says she let thaw for about an hour.

The consistency of her slice is gummy, but she takes a bite. She can’t quite put her finger on the flavor. “It’s not terrible,” she says.

She takes a second bite to be sure. “It’s not bad,” she confirms. “This is—it’s not bad. I definitely give this a seven out of 10. I can’t really tell y’all if it tastes like Baja Blast.”

Ohio Taco Bell Worker Taste Tests Baja Blast Pie

TaCara says she’s never had a key lime pie, so she can’t specifically compare it to anything. But she says, “Definitely let it sit. I don’t eat this frozen. I’ve seen people eat this frozen. It says ‘thaw for 30 minutes.'”

The instructions are to allow it to thaw for at least 30 minutes or up to 4 hours. TaCara says, “It tastes like [something] for a summer day, not like Thanksgiving. [It’s] $20, though.”

The comments varied in their opinions about the pie’s appearance. “This look like something LUSH would sell,” said one person. “Why is it stretching like play doh?” another person asked.

Is TaCara Just Trying to Keep Her Job?

One person suggested she only did the video out of pressure. “Y’all she just tryna keep her job,” they said. One commenter noted that Taco Bell is straying away from its classics, saying, “They should’ve just kept the caramel apple empanadas.”

One person made the best joke: “In a few years y’all gone be calling the number for the class action lawsuit for mesothelioma.”

TaCara made a follow-up video admitting she likely shouldn’t have purchased the pie if she didn’t work at Taco Bell. But she says that because she is more of a “chocolate” person versus going for citrus flavors. She also notes that each participating location was only allotted 12 pies.

Taco Bell’s Limited Edition Baja Blast Pie

The extremely limited-edition pie sold out in many locations after its launch on Nov. 6. It was first teased at the Live Más Live event in 2024 and made a cameo during Mountain Dew Baja Blast’s 20th anniversary celebration.

Priced at $19.99, the graham cracker-crust pie is sold only whole (not by slice) and is available in-store for a limited time. It transforms the soda into a citrus-flavored, key lime pie-adjacent dessert, explicitly designed to go viral on social media.

It’s part of an escalating trend where fast food chains create increasingly bizarre collaborations purposefully designed to cut through digital noise. Right now, there’s everything from Hidden Valley Ranch lip balm to pretty much whatever you want in dill pickle flavor, banking on shock value and FOMO to push sales.

Food Network called it “otherworldly—sort of like an alien key lime pie” and positioned it as perfect for Friendsgiving. We’ll let you be the judge.

Salt-N-Pepa Announce 2026 Reunion Tour After Calling Out Music Industry At Rock Hall Induction

Salt-N-Pepa dropped a major update following the 2025 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ceremony in Los Angeles — a long-awaited 2026 reunion tour amid a very public rebuke of the music industry’s streaming practices.

The iconic Hip-Hop trio — Cheryl “Salt” James, Sandra “Pepa” Denton and Deidra “Spinderella” Roper — received the Musical Influence Award over the weekend (November 8) at the Peacock Theater.

But while the moment was celebratory, Salt used the spotlight to call out what she described as unfair treatment from the powers behind the scenes.

“As we celebrate this moment, fans can’t even stream our music,” Salt said during their acceptance speech. “It’s been taken down from all streaming platforms because the industry still doesn’t want to play fair. Salt-N-Pepa have never been afraid of a fight. This is the Influence Award. We have to keep using our influence until the industry honors creativity the way the audience does — with love, respect, and fairness — and that includes streaming platforms too.”

The group has been entangled in a legal dispute with Universal Music Group over music rights. Their legal team claims the label removed their catalog from major streaming services in retaliation.

Despite the ongoing battle, Salt-N-Pepa made it clear they’re not slowing down. James confirmed the trio will reunite for a tour in 2026.

“Are we doing a Reunion Tour?” she teased. “Yes, yes. 2026, but don’t quote us!”

The announcement came during an interview with entertainment reporter Courtney Tezeno, where the group reflected on their legacy and the significance of the Hall of Fame honor.

Pepa spoke on the group’s impact: “Because we have forged such a path for women, and all the triumphs and everything that we have overcome, the good, the bad, and just to stand here today is such a prestigious award. The influence award for Hip-Hop, the contribution that we have did, you know, for Hip-Hop feels great.”

Salt added, “We’ve always been working hard and knowing that we were doing the darn thing. But to get this is, like, the cherry on top of the cake. This is incredible. We take ourselves being influencers very seriously.”

Spinderella acknowledged the uphill climb it took to get to this point: “Oh, my God. I mean, this is the top of the line. But the work that’s been put in, the struggle was real. You don’t get to this point without suffering.”

The group also performed their 1987 classic “Push It” during the ceremony, joined on stage by En Vogue and longtime producer Hurby Luv Bug Azor.

Salt-N-Pepa’s rise began in 1985, and over the decades they’ve carved out space for women in Hip-Hop with bold lyrics, business savvy and an unshakable presence.

The 2026 tour will mark their return to the stage as a full unit, signaling not just a comeback but a continuation of their fight for fair treatment in the music business.

Viral Rapper’s “Arrest Me Daddy” Stunt Ends With Real Handcuffs

Viral sensation Adamn Killa turned his viral catchphrase into reality Monday afternoon when Chicago police briefly detained him during a traffic stop downtown after months of daring them to do just that.

The Hip-Hop artist, whose real name is Adam Kelly, has built a massive online following by confronting law enforcement officers and theatrically demanding they arrest him.

His go-to move? Bending over, placing his hands behind his back and yelling “Arrest me, daddy” before breaking into a dance — all set to his song “Fall On.”

But things got real at the corner of East Randolph Street and North Michigan Avenue on Monday (November 10), when officers actually took him up on the offer.

Kelly was handcuffed and placed in the back of a squad car for about 20 minutes before being released without charges.

The “Arrest Me Daddy” Video Series Continues

“I got out and I went and made more ‘Arrest me, daddy’ videos right after,” Kelly told the Chicago Sun-Times.

True to his word, he posted several more clips after the incident, keeping his online momentum going.

Kelly, who hails from Chicago’s Chatham and Roseland neighborhoods, has racked up nearly 2 million followers across Instagram and TikTok. His videos regularly hit hundreds of thousands of views, with some surpassing the million mark.

His most viral content often shows him confronting everyone from Chicago police to National Guard troops in Washington, D.C., while dancing and repeating his now-signature line.

Kelly’s manager, Taylor Bennett—the younger brother and manager of Chance the Rapper—sees his antics as more than just internet comedy.

“You laugh at him, but it’s like he’s created an environment through his socials where people feel that they can be involved even if they’re not there,” Bennett said.

While many see his behavior as performance art, Kelly insists there’s a political edge to his viral campaign. He’s critical of officers who hide their identities during operations and draws historical comparisons to make his point.

“How they be covering their face and s###, I feel like in the future, they gonna look at them like how they looked at, like the Nazi soldiers,” Kelly said. “Because they know what they be doing wrong. That’s why they cover their face and they be covering their badges and stuff.”

Kelly was released without charges on November 10 and resumed filming the same day.

‘He didn’t get very far’: Houston man tries to walk his tab. Then the bartender catches him—she’s seen this trick before

A Houston man finds himself publicly embarrassed after he walked a restaurant tab and then headed next door to the poker room for some light gambling. Here’s why the scheme didn’t turn out like he hoped.

TikTok user Wynden Tess (@wyndensworld) posted a video about the experience on Oct. 11. “I am the bartender at a high-end restaurant, and this is my story about how this guy tried to walk his tab tonight,” she says to start the video. “He didn’t get very far.”

Wynden explains that she works behind the bar at her restaurant, and serves customers food as well as alcohol. Next to the restaurant is a 24-hour poker place.

That evening, a man entered the bar and ordered food, a $7 bottle of still water, and a double Captain Morgan rum with Diet Coke. After eating all his bread and much of his food, he asks Wynden Tess if it’s OK if he goes to get his laptop and does some work at the bar. She assures him that’s fine.

Houston Man Attempts to Walk Restaurant Bar Tab

“So he sits down his double Captain Morgan,” she says. “He says he’s going to get his laptop. I had a feeling. He was being overly nice.” And sure enough, she says, “He left to go get his laptop and never returned.”

Wynden Tess spoke to another one of the staff, who saw him walk over to the poker room. She gives the man another 10 minutes before heading over to the poker room to see if he’s there. Luckily, she is friends with the security guard there, so she has no problem getting in.

Sure enough, her tab walking customer is inside the poker room playing at a table. The security guard goes up to the guy, who initially denies ever being at the restaurant. His tune changes, though, when Wynden Tess returns with her manager and security camera footage that clearly shows him enjoying his meal.

The customer acts confused and tells them that he thought a friend paid for his tab. Wynden doesn’t believe this excuse for a second, because she didn’t see him with anybody the entire time he was at the restaurant.

“He was trying to cover his [expletive] at the poker room so they didn’t think he was a broke loser,” she says. “We walk back over to the restaurant. He’s in between me and my manager with his little tail between his legs. And he pays and he gave me $5.”

She’s unmoved by the gesture. “First of all, you’re embarrassing and you look like a loser,” she says. “And you just lie after lie. You can’t pay a $48 tab, but you have the audacity to go play poker and gamble your money? That’s embarrassing, boy.”

Viewers React to the Houston Bartender’s Detective Skills

In the comments, viewers overwhelmingly took Wynden Tess’s side in the situation. Many praised her detective skills.

“There’s nothing better than a bartender scorned,” wrote one person.

“Bartenders are smarter than whips,” said a second person.

“You should work for the FBI,” said a third person. “Nice job, girl.”

While it’s not uncommon, leaving without paying a restaurant tab is a misdemeanor offense in Texas. And not only does the practice cost the restaurant money, but servers and bartenders are often asked to pay the tab out of pocket.

Ja Rule Reflects On 50 Cent Feud—Blames It For Hurting New York Hip-Hop

Ja Rule doubled down on his belief that he’s the superior rapper to 50 Cent, despite conceding over a decade ago that he lost their infamous Hip-Hop feud that helped reshape the early 2000s.

During a recent appearance on the “7 P.M. in Brooklyn” podcast hosted by Carmelo Anthony and Kazeem Famuyide, the Queens-bred rapper revisited the long-standing grudge match with the G-Unit frontman.

While acknowledging it was an “unpopular opinion”, Ja Rule stood firm in his claim that his artistry outshone 50’s.

“I feel like I was the better rapper,” Ja said. “I felt like I made the better records; I feel like my records aged better, still. So, that’s how I feel inside. I don’t know how everybody else feels.”

That statement followed his broader call for mutual respect, noting that both he and 50 Cent made lasting contributions to Hip-Hop culture.

“At the end of the day, you’ve gotta kinda love both or you gotta kinda respect both,” Ja said. “You don’t gotta love both, but you gotta respect both. You gotta appreciate both, and that’s just what it is. Even in rap competitions and battles and beefs and s### like that, I have a very different take on it than everybody does. He has a take on it that was his take.”

The comments come despite Ja Rule’s 2013 admission that he lost the battle to 50 Cent, whose string of scathing diss tracks — including “Back Down,” “Wanksta,” and “I Smell P*ssy” — helped derail Ja’s commercial reign.

The feud also fractured the New York Hip-Hop scene, something Ja reflected on during the interview.

“Look at Kendrick and Drake. Nothing good is coming out of any of these things. Like, me and 50’s s###, that s### f##### up New York Hip-Hop. It really did because it separated a lot of n##### in New York .”

When the conversation shifted to the Kendrick Lamar and Drake battle, Ja Rule offered his take on the fallout and why he thinks Drake doesn’t need any advice.

“Why I gota advise Drake? Why I can’t advise Kendrick?” he asked. “Drake don’t need no advice. Drake is rich, he got a big ass plane. Have you seen his plane? What we talking about Drake for, man? That n#### chilling, man.”

Ferg Reveals Max B’s Emotional Tie To His Late Father: “I Didn’t Know How Deep It Ran”

Ferg revealed a surprising backstory about Max B and his late father, Darold Ferguson Sr., during a recent vlog, sharing that the Harlem rapper once worked side by side with his dad in a T-shirt printing hustle long before either of them became known names in Hip-Hop.

The A$AP Mob artist dropped the revelation just days after Max B was released from East Jersey State Prison on Sunday (November 9), ending a 16-year sentence that began in 2009.

The Harlem native, known for his melodic “wavy” sound, had his original 75-year sentence reduced in a lengthy legal battle.

“Three weeks ago, he told me that he was silk-screening t-shirts with my dad. He was like D Ferg’s little man,” Ferg said in the vlog. “I didn’t know how deep it ran with him and my family, but that’s really the history. He’s like one of the guys that my father helped pull up in the neighbourhood.”

Ferg Says His Connection With Max B Runs Deeper Than Rap

Ferg explained that his father, who passed away in 2005 from kidney failure, had a habit of mentoring young men in the neighborhood and tried to steer them away from trouble.

“We built our rapport from the fam,” he added. “It’s not even on no rap s###.”

Darold Ferguson Sr. was a respected Harlem designer who ran a boutique and made a name for himself in the 90s and early 2000s, printing shirts and creating logos for major record labels like Bad Boy Records and Uptown Records. He also worked with artists including Teddy Riley, Heavy D and Bell Biv DeVoe.

That same creative drive would later influence Ferg’s own ventures in fashion, including his Traplord clothing line, which became a staple in Hip-Hop streetwear.

Max B’s release has already stirred excitement in the music world. He’s reconnected with longtime collaborator French Montana and is reportedly working on new material.

Paris Jackson Can Pull Spaghetti Through Her Nose Due To Drug Use

Paris Jackson revealed a deeply personal consequence of her past drug use, telling social media followers that she has lived with a perforated septum since she was 20.

In a video shared to TikTok and other platforms, the daughter of Michael Jackson and Debbie Rowe explained the visible and audible impact of the condition.

“I realized I never addressed this and it can sometimes be very noticeable,” she said. “I have a really loud whistle because you can hear it when I breathe through my nose, and that is because I have what is called a perforated septum.”

To show the extent of the damage, Jackson tilted her head back and shone a light into her nostril, exposing the cavity. When asked how it happened, she didn’t mince words.

“It’s exactly where you think it’s from,” she said, before adding, “Don’t do drugs, kids.” Then, with a shrug, she continued, “Or do, I mean, everyone is going to have the experience they need to have with life. I’m not going to tell anyone what to do. I don’t recommend it because it ruined my life.”

The 26-year-old model and singer said the condition has been difficult to manage, especially when recording music. She even joked that she “can stick a spaghetti noodle” through the hole in her nose.

Though surgery could potentially fix the issue, Jackson said she’s not willing to risk her sobriety, which she’s maintained for nearly six years. “You have to take pills when you do a surgery that gnarly,” she said. “And I don’t want to f**k with that.”

Jackson’s video comes as more public figures have begun to speak openly about the long-term physical and emotional consequences of substance use.

Jackson has not shared whether she plans to seek alternative treatments for the condition, but she made it clear that avoiding painkillers is a priority as she continues her recovery journey.

‘I swear I’ve seen these Instagram promo codes everywhere’: Nashville woman goes out for $55 omakase. Here’s why she said it was one of her most ‘frustrating’ dining experiences ever

A Nashville woman went to a $65 omakase experience that she said was one of the most frustrating restaurant meals she’s ever had.

TikTok user Yoojin (@yoojin.ie) posted a video about the meal on Oct. 9. “Be careful about omakase places that might lure you in with a promo code or discount but end up not honoring it—even after calling them out,” she says.

Yoojin explains that she and her boyfriend recently visited a Nashville omakase restaurant, which she leaves unnamed, after seeing it advertised on Instagram as 12 courses for $65. “And they were running Instagram ads that had promo codes that brought it down to $55,” she says. “I swear, I’ve seen those promo codes everywhere. But I’ve learned that when things sound too good to be true, it’s probably not worth it.”

What Happened at the Nashville Omakase Restaurant?

The first red flag appeared when the couple had to wait 25 minutes past their 7:30 p.m. reservation. “One thing about omakase is that they run really strict time slots,” Yoojin says. “We got seated at 7:50 p.m.—which is insane to think about.”

Another issue Yoojin and her boyfriend had with the service is that the hostess asked them multiple times to purchase an alcoholic or non alcoholic beverage with their meal. Yoojin said her boyfriend drove and she wasn’t interested in drinking alcohol, but declining once wasn’t enough.

“Asking us throughout the entire omakase experience was unnecessary,” she says. “I did have to cave in and I got the one non alcoholic drink they had. Which was really good, but it just left a bitter taste in my mouth.”

Yoojin also objected to the a la carte menu prices, which she says range from $16-$30. “So, a $30 price point for one piece of sushi, which is practically half the price [of the full meal], is just insane,” she says.

Nashville Omakase Service Pushes Woman ‘Over the Edge’

Yoojin says she was “kind of pushed over the edge” when the hostess approached the couple with the bill “in the middle” of the meal. “So she has her tablet and she asks us if we want to close our tab or pay,” she says. “Even when she was doing this, the chefs, I could literally hear them say to each other, ‘What is she doing?’ So I guess this wasn’t normal, but we ended up just paying.”

The final insult came with the receipt. “That’s when we noticed the promo code wasn’t applied,” she says. She brought it up with the hostess on her way out, but says the hostess told her she couldn’t help them since they’d already paid the tab.

Yoojin asked the hostess to call her manager, and the couple left their contact information with the hostess so that the manager could follow up. “I’m making this video because it’s been a week and a half later and we actually haven’t heard anything back,” she says.

Viewers React to the Nashville Omakase Experience

It’s unfortunate that the service was so lacking, because Yoojin says the sushi itself was fine. “I thought everything was great except for one piece,” she says, the wagyu uni. “I think it’s just the hostess that kind of ruined the experience.”

In the comments section, viewers reacted to the story and offered advice on how to handle the situation.

“Omakase in Nashville does not sound appealing,” wrote one skeptical viewer.

“You should’ve called to follow up, but they should’ve too, obviously,” said a second person.

“The fastest way to get a refund is leaving a 1-star review,” said a third person. “Also, I wanted to try this place, too, but I was skeptical.”

Is This Video About Sushi by Bou?

Multiple commenters suggested that Yoojin is talking about Sushi by Bou, which advertises a 12-course omakase experience for $65. And Yelp reviews for the restaurant seem to back up Yoojin’s complaints about the inconsistent service and pricey a la carte menu. However, others praised the ambience and said they had no problem redeeming the promo code.

The arena was transformed for the night with a Biggie-themed court, curated entertainment, and giveaways, including collectible Biggie bobbleheads for attendees.

The celebration is part of a larger campaign in partnership with Biggie’s estate, aimed at honoring his legacy and the borough’s cultural impact on Hip-Hop.
