300 Entertainment CEO Kevin Liles Comments On Young Thug’s Chart Success

Young Thug is currently riding high off the commercial triumph of his latest studio LP. Punk debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart, and five tracks off the album made it onto the Hot 100 songs chart.

The Atlanta-raised rap star’s chart success made the executives at his record label very happy. Kevin Liles, CEO of 300 Entertainment, released a statement about Young Thug and Punk.

“Artist development and evolution are the biggest forms of currency in the sustainability and relevancy of an artist in the entertainment industry. Young Thug’s undeniable dedication, vision, and relentless work ethic are unmatched and show how much he has doubled down on his artistry,” stated Kevin Liles.

The music industry veteran added, “I’m proud of Young Thug for not only checking the boxes, but creating his own space outside of the box. Though we have been by Young Thug’s side for eight years, his two number one albums in one year is only the beginning of his story.”

Punk became Young Thug’s second Billboard 200 #1 album of 2021. He also topped the weekly tally in April with YSL’s Slime Language 2 compilation. Pop-Country superstar Taylor Swift is the only other act to score two Number Ones this year.

Young Thug tapped Strick, J. Cole, T-Shyne, Gunna, Future, BSlime, Post Malone, A$AP Rocky, Lil Double 0, Drake, Travis Scott, Doja Cat, Nate Ruess, and Jeff Bhasker for Punk. Deceased performers Juice WRLD and Mac Miller are featured on the album as well.

300 Entertainment is also the label home of Megan Thee Stallion, Gunna, Fetty Wap, Lil Keed, Shy Glizzy, Tee Grizzley, Famous Dex, OMB Peezy, and other acts. Kevin Liles, Lyor Cohen, Roger Gold, and Todd Moscowitz founded the record company in 2012.

Megan Thee Stallion Set To Graduate From College

Ever since Megan “Thee Stallion” Pete arrived on the mainstream music scene in 2019, she incorporated being a college student into her artistic brand. That student-life branding will be coming to an end soon because Pete is close to finalizing her pursuit of higher education.

Yesterday (October 25), Megan Thee Stallion took to Instagram to inform her 25.9 million followers about her upcoming graduation. The 26-year-old rapper evidently finished her online courses for Texas Southern University.

“2021 finna graduate collegeeee 😛 taking my graduation pics today 😭I can’t wait for y’all to see,” posted Megan Thee Stallion on her Instagram page.

The Good News album creator is seeking a degree in healthcare administration. Megan Thee Stallion often spoke about wanting to open a healthcare facility after completing her studies.

Meanwhile, Megan continues to be one of the most prosperous Hip Hop acts at the moment. Her “Thot S###” single peaked at #16 on the Hot 100 chart in June. The track has remained in the rankings for 19 weeks.

The Houston native also found Top 20 chart success in 2021 as a feature on Ariana Grande’s “34+35 (Remix)” and Maroon 5’s “Beautiful Mistakes.” Last year, Megan scored two #1 songs with “Savage (Remix)” featuring Beyoncé and “WAP” with Cardi B.

BET rewarded Hit-Boy for his stellar work with Nas (King’s Disease), Big Sean (Detroit 2), and other high-profile acts. Not surprisingly, a lot of artists are apparently looking to get in the studio with the three-time Grammy winner.

“Don’t request to work [with] me if you looking for something inside the box that sounds like whatever is going on chart-wise,” wrote Hit-Boy on Instagram. “Work [with] me when you wanna be creative. I be sampling Powerpuff Girls [and] s### 😭 ask @kendricklamar.”

Kodak Black Given Permission To Perform At Rolling Loud Despite Testing Positive For Ecstasy

Kodak Black has been in limbo, awaiting a decision from the court as to whether he can travel to New York to perform at Rolling Loud.

The wait is over as the judge has given him the green light to attend the festival this weekend.

Kodak was placed on probation for 36 months following his release from prison in January. His lawyer applied applied to court recently asking a judge to allow him to attend the music festival for work.

“Kodak has previously been allowed to travel the United States for work purposes and has had no incidents of violation or positive urine tests upon his return and continuously upon his leave for an event and upon return,” his attorney, Bradford Cohen wrote.

According to TMZ, the judge has agreed to his request. Kodak Black has permission to travel to the festival but must stay in contact with his Supervised Release Officer. The Florida native will perform at the festival at Citi Field in Queens, New York on Friday.

It was previously reported that Kodak Black failed two drug tests, violating the terms of his supervised release. TMZ reports seeing the court documents that show this. He tested positive for marijuana in February and then MDMA in August.

Kodak was ordered to complete a 90-day treatment program. However, the judge allowed him to attend the festival where drug use is likely, indicating that they are not concerned with the issue.

Kodak has recently gone viral after attempting to explain why he was grabbing his mother’s butt while dancing with her.

Jack Harlow Talks Being A White Rapper “I Have Serious Imposter Syndrome”

Jack Harlow’s popularity just keeps growing. He made a splash in 2020, this year he’s caused a tidal wave, most recently scoring a No. 1 hit with “Industry Baby,” his collaboration with Lil Nas X.

It may seem as though the Louisville, Kentucky native has not a care in the world, his confidence is through the roof. Sharing news of his first time atop the charts he wrote:

Jack Talks Being A White Rapper

However, Jack revealed that he suffers from “serious imposter syndrome” and steers clear of rapping about being white to avoid becoming a novelty rapper. During an interview with GQ, he addressed the fact that although he is mobbed by fans all over the U.S, he is less known in the U.K where mainstream Hip-Hop is not as popular.

“It’s interesting,” he explains, “because it seems like there’s more of a counterculture mix going on here. In Britain, I see a lot more interracial dating. I see a lot more white kids hanging with black kids. It seems a lot more common over here. So the people that are into Hip-Hop, it’s not such a select crowd. I mean it is mainstream over there, too, but it’s like there’s still so much segregation.”

The rapper then addressed his privilege as a white man in the industry and the barriers Black artists face that aren’t an obstacle for him.

“I have serious imposter syndrome the whole way through,” he said. “And then you have to bounce with it and you feel like you are totally where you are supposed to be. Moments of self-doubt combined with moments of I am who I think I am. I think what has worked for me is that my music has never been about the fact that I am white.” He continued, “I don’t try to lean into the, ‘Hey, I’m the white boy.’ I try not to make it a novelty.”

“I rap from the heart, rather than trying to do a white version of the art form.”

Wyclef: Busta Rhymes “Trashed My Tour Bus” When He First Heard Eminem

Wyclef Jean recently shared an interesting behind-the-scenes story of the first time Busta Rhymes heard Eminem. Apparently, it was a very expensive experience!

Clef was talking to Knowledge Tha God of “HipHopIsReal” about battling in the early days of his career and his experience of Eminem.

“Busta Rhymes will tell you, when he came on my tour bus, he literally broke my tour bus!” Then Wyclef explained how Jimmy Iovine had sent him a cassette tape of Eminem’s “My Name Is” which he played for Busta.

Whatever reaction Clef had hoped for, this was probably not the reaction he was expecting. “He trashed my tour bus,” he said before saying Busta never paid for any of the damages. ”You know Bus, you still owe me for my tour bus!”

Busta isn’t a man to be played with and so he gently backtracked saying, “But you know Busta’s a giant. Like, what are you going to tell him? He can literally take you apart with one hand!”

It wasn’t clear exactly whether Busta Rhymes wrecked the bus because he liked or hated the song so Knowledge asked him to clarify. “Yeah, he went crazy.” He said as the room exploded into hysterical laughter. “Until today I have nightmares of this thing. I mean Busta trashed my beautiful tour bus after listening to this Eminem song.”

Wyclef on Emimem and Canibus

Wyclef also shared his thoughts about the longstanding beef between Eminem and Canibus.

“My whole dream was to get Canibus with Eminem,” he recalled. “That was my dream. I so wanted that to happen and I know that Eminem had so much love for Canibus. Like, still to today.”

He continued explaining that he wishes things were handled differently and, if they had been, who knows what the outcome would have been. “In my heart of souls that was the whole thing, I felt like if Canibus had embraced Eminem at the time…who knows?”

He then used Benny Blanco as the example for why “you got to be real careful with people who are fans of yours and that really look up to you. You’ve got to give them that time.”

Wyclef concluded by saying he would love to see the pair squash their differences. “Canibus and Eminem are like two of my favorite emcees of all time so if that connectivity ever happened, that’s one of those things that you look back on. Eminem’s a complete genius and so is Canibus in his space.”

Who Exactly Is Meek Mill Talking About In A Rant About Not Getting Paid Off Music?

This is a proverbial fork in the road. Meek Mill is not that kid with the nappy braids, not the “dreams and nightmares” guy or the one that beefed with Drake once upon a time. This is the grown man Meek!!! Grown man Meek is probably thinking retirement, his portfolio and revenues of income! But, the made a bold claim on social media that is certain to stir up the POT! He said he is not making any money from music!

This ain’t Dirtbike Meek!

Meek Mill GIF - Meek Mill Bike - Discover & Share GIFs

Honestly…I wanna know who bro is talking about. Lets continue before we come to that conclusion. But. Meek said on twitter of all places that he needs lawyers. I am not saying he does not know the difference between a lawyer and an accountant. Lawyer – to me – suggests he is ready to make some sort of legal manuevering to get his back royalties in order. An accountant – to me – is going to be able to find that. The lawyers get hm the money! Here’s more.

And there’s more.

War?

I am not sure how to say this, but it seems like he’s talking about Rick Ross! You already know the internet will have something to say! I didn’t see Ross on Meek’s new albums Expensive Pain either, so I am thinking he’s going in another direction creatively as well as life-wise.

It is like Meek let everybody in his house without taking their shoes off!

This one took me out though.

The Rozay Gif!

And just like that: we out!

Hoping Meek Mill can do his thing AND stay cool with Ross. Not sure if that is possible.

Young Rapper Ben Sharp Knowles (BSK) Tells How He Fell In Love With Music

Sometimes our passion sneaks up on us, taking us by surprise. This is what happened to Ben Sharp Knowles, aka BSK, when he discovered his passion for making rap music. What started out as something new to try his hand at has turned into a completely new way of life.

Simply put—BSK loves making music. He decided to try it during the COVID-19 lockdowns. Even though he was only making music for fun, he immediately realized how rewarding it was to write a song and share it with others. To add to his joy, his friends genuinely enjoyed the music he made. “I chose this path because I really enjoy making music. I like the feeling of seeing people enjoy my music and bring people together,” says Ben Sharp Knowles.

When BSK got serious about music, he started researching everything he could about the industry. He also started listening to more varieties of music to expand his horizons, but his love for rap always stayed on top. Rap filled a gap in the music of storytelling and gave him the ability to express himself in a new way. As BSK writes more songs, he is learning new ways to express himself and learning to trust the outcome of the songwriting process.

In the year since BSK has started writing songs, he has released 7 songs on Spotify and iTunes and currently has 13 songs in his pipeline. He is also working to release his first full album. BSK’s next aim is to have a hit song and work with an awesome team of producers. “I realized the reward of completing a song and wanted to do more,” says Ben Sharp Knowles.

Music is more than a good beat and catchy lyrics. It has a way of bringing people together. BSK fell in love with making music because he saw how much his music made other people happy. He also loved the expressive outlet rap provided for him. As he grows his social media presence, BSK will bring his music to as many people as possible.

Lil Kim Is Launching Her Own Cannabis Brand

Lil Kim is getting into the cannabis business.

The veteran rapper has partnered with superbad inc. to create her own cannabis brand called aphrodisiac. Lil Kim’s weed line is scheduled to launch in California in 2022.

“I’ve actually been working on this for about two and a half to three years,” Lil Kim told Forbes. “This is something that didn’t just come overnight. It’s something I’ve always wanted to do. It’s the way of the world.”

Lil Kim has been hands-on in the making of aphrodisiac. She’s put her years of smoking to good use in the testing phase, ensuring the weed is up to her standards.

“I’m a hustler by nature, right?” she explained to Forbes. “I’m from Brooklyn, so we hustle. I equate the game all the time to how I came up in the streets. It’s different, but it’s not, it’s the same. I’ve always been the type of person who will try it out. I test my product. I tested this and I was like ‘Oh yeah, this is that gas.’”

Lil Kim continued, “I knew it also because I am surrounded by seasoned cannabis smokers. They told me, ‘Kim, you onto something,’ and I was really excited about it. Plus, I do like smoking different strains. I like sativa, I like indica, and hybrid. I also, like that real California OG, it will never go out of style.”

Eventually, Lil Kim and superbad inc. expect her cannabis brand to be available in multiple states. The multi-platinum selling artist already has her sights on her home state of New York and New Jersey, where she currently resides.

Rising EDM Artist LUSSO Is Taking Over the Music Scene

Thanks to the advent of social media platforms, artists making different genres of music now can find their audience without relying on a label. Social media has billions of users, making it the perfect platform for artists to showcase their talent to the world. Rising EDM artist LUSSO is one such example and has been storming the music industry with electrifying clubbing numbers.

Michael Vitarelli is popularly known as LUSSO in the clubbing scene. He is an entrepreneur who earns his living during the day and at night, produces hard-hitting clubbing numbers as LUSSO. He has always been passionate about music, especially electronic music. Initially, his interest in music was limited as a listener, but Manhattan’s clubbing scene changed his entire perspective on life. He was motivated to make people move to his music and decided to become a DJ.

He entered the music industry as LUSSO four years back and since then has been on a roll, releasing one hit after the other. Electronic dance music is his forte as he loves fast beats and rhythms. His compositions usually have a strong bassline combined with blazing lyrics and rhythmic sound. He creates tracks that are perfect for clubs and discs. His music can compel anyone to tap their foot. LUSSO is a master of classic tech-house drum sequences, which is relevant in almost each of his compositions.

Today, LUSSO is a popular name in house music and Manhattan’s club scene. The DJ-producer has managed to carve a niche for himself in the music industry by achieving a series of milestones. His EP In The Rough on Tommie Sunshine’s Brooklyn Fire Records topped Beatport’s Top-100 Tech-House Releases. LUSSO’s single “Trippin’” from the same record earned 250,000 streams on Spotify and made it to the Editorial Playlists Operator and Cratediggers lists.

LUSSO’s “Rude Boy” on Tough Love’s Get Twisted Records reached spot 25 on the Beatport Genre Chart. The track earned the appreciation of major DJs like Calvin Harris, Mark Knight, Bob Sinclair, Kryder, and SIDEPIECE. It also became number 7 on the Label’s Top-10 Tracks on Beatport.

To date, LUSSO’s compositions have received over a million hits on Spotify, making him a prominent music sensation on social media. His remix “Dakiti” was featured on virus XM BPM. For LUSSO, This is just the beginning of his journey. He believes his craft has started receiving much-deserved recognition from the audience.

Initially, the road to success was not easy for LUSSO. Despite being confident about his talent and producing quality music, there was a dearth of ears. LUSSO had to struggle a lot to gain his audience. The only thing that kept him going was his passion and persistence. LUSSO kept creating music, holding on to his passion, even though there was little to no encouragement. Gradually, his music started reaching an audience, which finally helped him reach the position he has today.

Going forward, LUSSO wants to hone his craft and release more electrifying EDM tracks. For that, he is ready to spend hours and even days in the studio. He also wants to enthrall his audience personally at clubs and perform with A-lister DJs in popular clubs around the world.

21 Savage Dismisses Lawsuit Threat From Freaknik Organizers

21 Savage doesn’t seem worried about a potential lawsuit from the team behind Freaknik.

The Slaughter Gang rapper dismissively responded to the festival’s organizers, who threatened to sue him and his manager Meezy over a Freaknik-themed birthday party.

“Saw @21savage and @megameezy #Freaknik21 last night at @underground_atlanta and looked like a super dope event,” Freaknik wrote via Twitter. “Sucks we gonna have to sue them when all we asked that they acknowledged us since it was a free event and they declined.”

21 Savage fired back, “Y’all better sit down somewhere.”

The Epic Records artist’s manager also mocked the complaints of Freaknik organizers. Meezy joked about doing the event every year and laughed about people getting mad over a free birthday party.

“I’m from ATL I know what Freaknik really suppose to be at heart and it wasn’t about charging people,” he tweeted. “It was about a vibe and that FREE vibe brought money into the city for everyone.”

After initially calling out 21 Savage on Twitter, Freaknik organizers explained their reasons for being upset in an Instagram post. The team felt it was protecting the brand, which was defunct for two decades until it relaunched in 2019.

The Freaknik team said they offered to license the name for 21 Savage’s birthday party, but their proposal was rejected. They also claimed Meezy lied to them about changing the event’s name.

“@21savage and @megameezy event was another level,” they wrote. “Super dope also so congrats to @mshannahkang for the dope layout, but that event was a smack in our face to all the hardwork we put in. We said we will give you license for FREE and was gonna ask to make sure it has a nonprofit presence there. They said no.”

The post continued, “I didn’t want this smoke…again we said ‘man put on for the city just acknowledge us and we will give you the license FREE.’ Meezy said he would just change the name. He didnt… …and here we are. Damn why black folks gotta fight all the time instead of working together.”

See Who Wants To Beat Jake Paul’s A$$ Next!

Jake Paul is the man to beat in boxing, which is weird. Why? Homeboy isn’t an accomplished boxer, but he has accomplished a lot. He has managed to turn boxing on its ear as a youtuber turned into boxer. He is an amazing marketer and salesperson that has managed to sell himself into boatloads of bucks. He keeps beating people that are not boxers, past their prime or some other form of handicap. As a matter of fact, Jake has yet to fight a single pure boxer. Well, there is a pure boxer that wants to put the paws Paul!

Claressa Shields.

That’s right the fighter that wants to pound out Paul is a she.

She has a fight coming this week and took time to comment on Jake!

Jake Paul? Please. I don’t know what world people live in that think a person that has no boxing background, a man who has not fought professionally, look, there are a lot of women in boxing that can beat up men, especially an average Joe like Jake Paul. If I was to spar Jake, which is all I would get because a real fight would be too embarrassing, right? But if we were to spar, I would use one hand – not even the banger – I’d use my (left) jab and I could out jab and hook and uppercut him and embarrass him. That’s how skilled I am. It’s not a shot at Jake, but he’s not as good a boxer as me. If you are, go to the Olympics and medal. I’ve sparred against those guys too – Olympic Gold Medallists, Silver Medallists – I’ve sparred against all of them. Those guys would destroy Jake just like I would. I box for real – not play stuff – I box for real.

You think she can beat up Jake Paul? I am not sure I even want to see that, because dude is so much bigger than her. If they were the same size, he wouldn’t make it a round. Actually, he would not fight her! He has not fought a boxer yet. That said, she is a BEAST!

She is basically promoting two fights at once!

Claressa Shields to Face Abigail Montes There will be Six Title Fights in AllSix Winners Take Home $1MPFL MMA
The weigh-in takes place Tuesday, October 26 at Seminole Hard Rock at 5:00 pm ET.

Now, I see why she has abandoned (even of only momentarily) boxing – $1 million! I’ll fight Evander and Mike for a milli! Good luck to the GWOAT (Greatest Woman Of All Time).

Dave Chappelle Says He’s Willing To Meet With Transgender Community -With Conditions

Dave Chappelle is open to meeting with members of the transgender community.

The award-winning comic addressed his controversial Netflix special The Closer at an event in Nashville on Sunday. Dave Chappelle shared an Instagram clip from his set, which featured him saying he’d talk to his transgender critics under certain conditions.

“It’s been said in the press that I was invited to speak with transgender employees at Netflix and I refused,” he said. “That is not true. If they had invited me, I would’ve accepted, although I am confused about what we’re speaking about.”

He continued, “I said what I said and boy, I heard what you said. My god, how could I not? You said you wanted a safe working environment at Netflix. Well, it seems like I’m the only one who can’t go to the office anymore.”

Dave Chappelle claimed the media has wrongly framed the controversy. He insisted he’s not at odds with the LGBT+ community despite making transphobic remarks in The Closer.

“I want everyone in this audience to know that even though the media frames it as though it’s me versus that community, that’s not what it is,” he told the crowd. “Do not blame the LBGTQ community for any of this s###. This has nothing to do with them. It’s about corporate interest and what I can say and what I cannot say.”

He added, “For the record – and I need you to know this – everyone I know from that community has been nothing but loving and supportive. So, I don’t know what all this nonsense is about.”

Dave Chappelle, who said he’s been disinvited from film festivals due to The Closer backlash, then spoke about a potential meeting with the transgender community. Although he was willing to have a conversation with his critics, he wanted it to happen on his terms.

“To the transgender community, I am more than willing to give you an audience,” he said. “But you will not summon me. I am not bending to anybody’s demands. And if you wanna meet with me, I’d be more than willing to, but I have some conditions.”

He declared, “First of all, you cannot come if you have not watched my special from beginning to end. You must come to a place of my choosing at a time of my choosing. And thirdly, you must admit that Hannah Gadsby is not funny.”

Hannah Gadsby, an Australian comedian who’s released two specials with Netflix, criticized the streaming service’s co-CEO Ted Sarandos for mentioning her in his defense of Dave Chappelle. She referred to Netflix as an “amoral algorithm.”
