Sometimes our passion sneaks up on us, taking us by surprise. This is what happened to Ben Sharp Knowles, aka BSK, when he discovered his passion for making rap music. What started out as something new to try his hand at has turned into a completely new way of life.

Simply put—BSK loves making music. He decided to try it during the COVID-19 lockdowns. Even though he was only making music for fun, he immediately realized how rewarding it was to write a song and share it with others. To add to his joy, his friends genuinely enjoyed the music he made. “I chose this path because I really enjoy making music. I like the feeling of seeing people enjoy my music and bring people together,” says Ben Sharp Knowles.

When BSK got serious about music, he started researching everything he could about the industry. He also started listening to more varieties of music to expand his horizons, but his love for rap always stayed on top. Rap filled a gap in the music of storytelling and gave him the ability to express himself in a new way. As BSK writes more songs, he is learning new ways to express himself and learning to trust the outcome of the songwriting process. 

In the year since BSK has started writing songs, he has released 7 songs on Spotify and iTunes and currently has 13 songs in his pipeline. He is also working to release his first full album. BSK’s next aim is to have a hit song and work with an awesome team of producers. “I realized the reward of completing a song and wanted to do more,” says Ben Sharp Knowles.

Music is more than a good beat and catchy lyrics. It has a way of bringing people together. BSK fell in love with making music because he saw how much his music made other people happy. He also loved the expressive outlet rap provided for him. As he grows his social media presence, BSK will bring his music to as many people as possible.

His multi-talented abilities as a musician began from the early age of 12, creating beats from Magix Music Maker before leveling up to FL Studio. His ear for music was undeniable, and it only became more obvious as the melodies and chord progressions he pieces together built the foundation for hip-hop bangers of mainstream artists.

Kansas City, Missouri-based hip hop artist Amaru Son has been racking up impressive streaming numbers as an independent artist. The creative started to take music seriously after getting fired from his job at Planet Fitness. It was at that moment the MC decided to kick his career into another gear.

Amaru Son’s streaming success began back in 2019 with the release of his viral track ‘Lost & Found’. The song’s melodic feel and relatable lyrics took the internet by storm, amassing over 10 million streams across all platforms to date. Earlier this year, the artist released a collab track with Ugly God called ‘Private Jet’. The song gave Amaru momentum, passing 500 thousand streams to date. However, Amaru’s next big moment came earlier this year with the release of his single ‘MiNi VaN’. The collaborative effort with musician Koshi has passed 1.5 million streams since its debut a short while ago. 

Amaru Son has been able to capture the attention of listeners across the world with his unique sound and style. With multiple viral releases and some impressive collaborations, the artist seems to be positioned well to take his career to the next level. And while there hasn’t been anything officially confirmed, the artist did mention that he plans to release more tunes before the end of the year or early next year. J. Perks was born in Chicago, Illinois, and raised in Taunton Massachusetts with a dream of providing the world with music to lift your spirits. Since childhood, he has been surrounded by music, with his mother singing in the choir and playing the clarinet. He himself at nine years old started playing the trumpet realizing he had a passion for music and want to connect with others through his sound.

J. Perks is a lyrical artist who always has something to say but with his musical background, he knows how to switch tones, play with rhythms and create memorable lyrics. Some of his biggest songs to date are “Young Wiz”, “Cold Nights” featuring Kelly Hansome, “Username”, and “Rax” featuring jduce. Wiz Khalifa even reposted one of J. Perks’  songs on his Snapchat story showing he has respect from a legend in the music industry.

J. Perks hopes to reach out to anyone and everyone with his music and wants to separate his music with every song released providing a new experience to each song. With every new song, he writes he wants to deliver something different to the listener’s ears. His most recent release QT which dropped October 22, 2021, wants to reach out to those who felt trapped in their homes during the pandemic and remember to still have fun.

He wants to remind everyone that even though the pandemic had an effect on everyone it is still important to find things that make you happy and give you a sense of euphoria. J. Perks believes the pandemic took a toll on everyone and that we need to keep pushing forward to a brighter tomorrow which can be heard in his new song “QT”.
