Gangster Who Kidnapped Tekashi 69 Wants To Be Mayor Of New York City

America is one of the few places where someone can go from rags to riches, be it overnight or gradually.

There’s even room for the redeemed in politics. The checkered pasts of politicians like Marion BarryKevin Lamont Harris, and Tarra Simmons have not kept them from pursuing their ambitions to make the U.S. a better place.

So while it may sound shocking, the fact that an alleged member of the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods hopes to one day become mayor of New York City, may not be such a far-fetched dream.

Anthony “Harv” Ellison, who kidnapped rapper Tekashi 69, revealed his political ambitions in a letter he recently sent to Judge Paul Engelmayer.

“I have a planned route and vision,” Harv told Judge Engelmayer. “One of the reasons I went to trial is because I have plans on being something in my life. I qualify for an expunged record. I have a chance like I conveyed in my previous letters to the president and the senate..to be totally candid, my long-term goal is to become the Mayor of New York City.

Judge Engelmayer sentenced Harv to 24 years in prison, for kidnapping and assaulting rap star Tekashi 69.

But Harv is refusing to let his past actions define his future. Harv’s actions were the catalyst that made Tekashi 69 cooperate with the state and testify against his former gang associates during a blockbuster three-week RICO trial in October 2019.

Prosecutors’ case was airtight thanks to Tekashi 69’s cooperation. In all, 10 men entered into plea deals, while Harv and Aljermiah “Nuke” Mack opted to go to trial.

In total, the 12 defendants received sentences from two to 24 years for drug dealing, robberies assaults, and other crimes around the five boroughs of New York. Harv was hit with 24 years, while Nuke ended up with a 17-year sentence.

Harv, who’s been locked up since November of 2018, is begging Judge Engelmayer to release him to home confinement to his elevated risk of catching the Coronavirus in prison.

Harv suffers from acute asthma, just like Tekashi 69, who used his health issues to score an early release in April of 2020. If he’s released early, Harv promises to make a difference in his local community.

“I know I may not seem like your ideal poster child, with no education, and political background. I might just be a little rough around the edges. I have first-hand experience though,” Harv said. “I believe in building an environment and encouragement that way we can stop breeding delinquents and immorality…managing can be a team effort.”

Harv has used his time behind bars to seriously educate himself, by completing numerous courses the prison offers.

So far, he has finished 35 courses, including classes on business ethics, sales fundamentals, conflict resolution, leadership and influence, time management, marketing basics, and others.

Harv has also gained co-signs from a variety of prison officials, including his prison counselor, who penned a glowing letter of recommendation for the incarcerated former gangster.

“He is self-motivated and works very hard with minimal supervision,” wrote B. Eklund. “He displays a positive attitude and helps newly incarcerated inmates adapt to a new environment.”

Hopefully, Judge Engelmayer will have some mercy on Harv, although it’s doubtful – his past request for compassionate release has already been denied.

If Harv does make it out, he just might has a real chance to make a positive difference in New York.

Lil Uzi Vert Removes $24 Million Diamond From His Forehead

Lil Uzi Vert seems to have removed the $24 million Eliantee & Co pink-colored diamond out of the middle of his forehead.

In a series of pictures posted on social media (Instagram stories, photos, videos, etc.), he was seen with his girlfriend JT without the gem prominently centered on his face.

He is also not rocking the bling in his new Calvin Klein commercial that dropped over three months ago in April.

The Philadelphia rapper copped the pricey rock earlier this year and told fans that it was valued more than all his “cars together” and his homes.

Because of how expensive the jewel is, he purchased an insurance plan.

Having it placed in his forehead was also an insurance plan, according to the “XO TOUR Llif3” rapper.

He said, “If I lose the ring yeah U will make fun of me more than putting it in my forehead ha ha jokes on you.”He further said, “I’m Lil Uzi. I’m turnt up. So $24 million USD on a ring is the stupidest idea because I’m gonna look down and that ring ain’t gon’ be there…I know me. I wake up in odd places and different sceneries.”Check out these sightings of him without the implanted
diamond.

JAYARSON Drops Off “Juvi” Visuals

When JAYARSON created his classic album Murder Cappy, it was his intention to honor the legends of his city… and he has done just that.

New Orleans is and has always been a music mecca. In the 1990’s, the Crescent City grew to prominence when it birthed some of the most unique and prolific artists ever, with one of those being Juvenile. JAYARSON created “Juvi” based on the classic “3rd Ward Soulja,” complete with the modernized visuals in the video filmed by @dexstr8dope.

The song contains solid production from super producers @djduffnola and @adfuturereloaded. “Juvi” is already highly lauded and has become one of the most shared of JAYARSON’s recent offerings.

It is truly reminiscent of 1990’s era New Orleans, when Cash Money was taking over for the 99-2000’s. Featured on the song is female powerhouse MC Gee.

JAYARSON puts his own twist on the song while representing Downtown and New Orleans as a whole. The song is available on all digital platforms.

J Prince Asks The Streets To Find Renegade Punks Who Killed His Nephew

J Prince is speaking out on the death of one of his “nephews” who was murdered over the weekend.

He expressed outrage on his Instagram profile on Tuesday, June 1, using a photograph of him and the young man and his very stern voiceover. In the prepared statement, that is featured in its entirety in the caption, he submits that while wishes he could put a bounty on the perpetrator’s head — he cannot because that would be illegal.

Still … his words are clear and firm as he states that he wishes that immediate “karma” comes to anyone that hurts the innocent. Please listen and/or read his message to these “gangsters” entitled “Houston, We Have a Problem to Solve.”

“There are a few renegade young punks, who went into one of my boys’ garage and shot my unarmed nephew in his heart and killed him,” he states in this public service announcement.

“These clowns have no principles, with an ‘anybody can get it’ type of attitude. I wish I could go back to the western days and put a ‘WANTED: DEAD OR ALIVE- MILLION DOLLAR REWARD’ on them but that’s illegal, so I won’t do
that.”

This is weak s### NOT gangsta,” J Prince said. “Real n##### around the world need to come together to deal with these bad apples. Considered the Godfather of Southern Hip-Hop, J. Prince has created a posture in rap culture that is not to be played with. The Rap-A-Lot O.G.’s words hold weight and we hope that they will not lead to more violence.

Nicki Minaj Secures 4th Spot On RapCaviar’s 2010s Mount Rushmore

There have been plenty of debates online and IRL about who are the four greatest and most influential rappers of the 2010s. According to curators of Spotify’s popular RapCaviar brand, the faces of Drake, Kendrick Lamar, and J. Cole deserved to be on the Hip Hop Mount Rushmore for the decade.

However, the verified RapCaviar Twitter account asked its followers to help select which artist deserved to be alongside the other three legends on the hypothetical monument. When put to a vote, Nicki Minaj came out on top.

RapCaviar’s Hip Hop Mount Rushmore for the 2010s

Nicki Minaj collected 39.9% of the 171,000 votes cast by Twitter users. The Queens, New York representative edged out Kanye West at 33.1%. Future garnered 17.9%. Minaj’s Young Money mentor, Lil Wayne, came in fourth with 9.1%.

The 2010s were mostly defined by a new crop of diverse rappers emerging from the Blog Era of Hip Hop. It was a time were mixtapes were presented artistically as albums, and fans began to elevate certain new emcees to superstar status.

Nicki Minaj was the standard-bearer for women in Hip Hop during the 2010s thanks to releases such as 2010’s Pink Friday and 2014’s The Pinkprint. Besides holding her own and many times outperforming her male counterparts on collaborations, the leader of the Barbz won Best Female Hip-Hop Artist at the BET Awards for seven straight years between 2010 and 2016.

Drake skyrocketed into A-list territory with the success of 2009’s So Far Gone mixtape and his breakout Top 10 hit single “Best I Ever Had.” The Canadian OVO leader went on to be named the overall Artist Of The Decade at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards.

Kendrick Lamar quickly became a critical darling with his Section.80 project in 2011. The 13-time Grammy winner’s appeal with music pundits was further exemplified when he became the first non-classical/non-jazz musician to win the Pulitzer Prize for his DAMN album. Lamar also picked up an Oscar nomination for “All The Stars” with SZA.

J. Cole consistently delivered #1 studio LPs over the last ten years, but it was 2009’s The Warm Up and 2010’s Friday Night Lights mixtapes that initially grabbed the attention of many rap fans around the world. Plus, the North Carolina native helped launch the careers of Dreamville Records roster members like J.I.D., Bas, EarthGang, and Ari Lennox.

YFN Lucci Denied Bond In Felony Murder/RICO Case

Rayshawn Lamar Bennett (professionally known as YFN Lucci) will have to remain behind bars as he awaits his trial in Georgia. A Fulton County superior court judge denied bond to the rapper in the racketeering case.

Back in February, YFN Lucci was released on a $500,000 bond after being charged with felony murder, assault, and other crimes. He surrendered again to the Fulton County Sheriff’s Office on racketeering charges last month.

“The defendant will remain in a no-bond status at this time. Additionally, this court revokes any bonds previously issued in this case,” said Judge Thomas Cox during a bond hearing via Zoom video on Tuesday.

YFN Lucci was indicted for murdering 28-year-old James Adams. The “Everyday We Lit” performer was hit with RICO charges after authorities claimed Adams was killed while Lucci and other alleged Blood gang members drove into a rival gang’s territory.

The Fulton County District Attorney’s Office is using YFN Lucci’s lyrics, music videos, and social media posts as evidence of his alleged gang affiliation. Drew Findling, Lucci’s lawyer, argued, “He’s not a gang member. What he is, is an internationally recognized musical artist that is a triple Platinum winner.”

James Adams was supposedly an associate of YFN Lucci and the Atlanta resident was said to be traveling with the Warner recording artist and his entourage the night of the murder. Adams was reportedly thrown out of Lucci’s vehicle after he was shot.

The legal team representing YFN Lucci maintains he and his passengers were acting in self-defense on the night of the gun battle. In addition, attorney Drew Findling insisted his client did not violate the condition of his initial bond in the murder case.

“We think it sends of very strong message to the public that no matter who you are, you have to follow the law and the rules, and you will be evaluated the same,” said Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis after Judge Thomas Cox denied bond for LFN Lucci.

According to the Fulton County inmate database, YFN Lucci is facing one count of felony murder, one count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, five counts of aggravated assault, five counts of violation of the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act, and one count of violation of the Georgia RICO (Racketeer Influenced And Corrupt Organizations) Act.

One Of DaBaby’s Artists And Another Man Accused In Miami Shooting

A rap artist and another man has been arrested in the now-infamous Miami shooting that claimed the lives of two people.

Rapper Wisdom Awute, 21, and Christopher Urena, 29, were arrested today by Miami Beach PD and charged with attempted first-degree murder, along with a myriad of other charges.

As we previously noted, rapper DaBaby was detained and questioned after the double shooting that happened on South Beach. DaBaby was released after he was interviewed by police.

The shooting that Awute and Urena are accused of occurred blocks away, and was seemingly unrelated. Why DaBaby was even questioned as perplexed online audiences.

However, Wisdom is signed to DaBaby’s label, causing the plot to thicken considerably.

According to witnesses shooting victim Emerson Delgado got into a verbal altercation between the men. Delgado was hit in the face and tried to run, according to reports. He was run down and shot him in the right calf by Wisdom Awute, according to the affidavit.

“Awute attempted to stop the defendant from fleeing in the vehicle at which time the defendant accelerated the vehicle and continued southbound. Members from victim Awute’s party fearing for his safety opened fire on the vehicle due to the fact it was being used as a weapon,” the affidavit said.

Cops Release Footage Of Men Accused Of Mass Shooting At Rap Concert

Miami-Dade police have released security footage that captured the three gunmen who shot up a rapper’s birthday party, injuring 22 people and killing two people.

At a press conference, officers did more than share the damning video but revealed that members of the gathering (held at the El Mula Banquet Hall located at 7630 Northwest 186th St.,) shot back at the shooters.

The footage shows the men as they approached the hall, all wearing masks, and toting assault rifles and handguns. It also shows the white Nissan Pathfinder SUV that they arrived in.

Reports state that the gunmen were blasting off shooting everywhere creating a scene of chaos. Still, no one knows exactly why.

The governor, Ron DeSantis expressed his regrets on Twitter.

“We mourn the loss of the two victims and are praying for the recovery of the more than 20 people injured at El Mula Banquet Hall near Hialeah. We are working with local authorities to bring justice to the perpetrators. Justice needs to be swift & severe!”

Reporter Madeleine Wright from WPLG Local 10 posted footage from the press conference held by Miami’s mayor and of one family member’s cries for help during a press conference about the shooting.

“’ We need to undo this crisis,’ says @MayorDaniella, referring to the cycle of gun violence. More than 30 people were shot in three separate shootings in Wynwood, near @PlayCasinoMiami and El Mula Banquet Hall.”

“An emotional outburst interrupted the news conference that @MayorDaniella and @MiamiDadePD are holding at police headquarters. The father of Clayton Dillard III says his son’s killers have ruined his life. Dillard was one of the 23 people shot yesterday at El Mula Banquet Hall.”

Crime Stoppers have offered $30,000 in reward for the information that leads to the arrest of the men featured in the video and responsible for the fatal shootings.

Marcus Lemonis, a businessman, is adding $100,000 to the pot.

The shooters are still at large but the Miami-Dade police say that they are on the search, and “[plan] to staff any other parties around town with off-duty cops” in search of leads.

Curren$y’s New Artist Alia Fleury is Getting Ready to Bless us with New EP

New Orleans has birthed and raised many movements and genres, from Jazz to hip-hop’s bounce sub-culture that conquered national airwaves in the early 2000s. Among the gems this city offers is rising talent, scientist, singer, and songwriter Alia Fleury.

Born and raised in the Seventh Ward, Alia’s formation aligned with the city’s musical nature. Growing up in a musical family, the very essence of the city’s festival culture and the soulful tunes of Jill Scott, Anita Baker, Chaka Khan, and Aretha Franklin played significant roles in her artistic development. As a result, her profound, melodic tones take form in both upbeat and smooth R&B tracks.

Iconic rapper Curren$y has found himself a new star to sign to Jet Life Records. Her self entitled EP Letters To Him produced by the Platter Boyz is a collection of tracks that convey the emotions, frustrations, healing, and liberations that exist when experiencing breakups, situationships, and heartache. On “Call You Back,” Alia embraces “too little too late” — answering to the late callback and reply with a boss mentality. Self-awareness strongly exists in “Easy To Love.” For “Four Seasons,” the singer symbolizes the emotions and progression of a relationship with the year’s four seasons.

The longest track of the EP, “Ready,” evokes the sexual desires one may have without the longing for a relationship, while “About Me” explores the sentiments of a broken-hearted person facing the harsh reality of their ex moving on and living their best life.

On growing up New Orleans Alia says, “There’s always music around you inspiring you to get involved in it. If it’s in your heart, if you have a love for music, then you’re always going to be inspired living here because it’s everywhere you walk down the street, somebody is playing the saxophone on the corner.”

With Letters To Him, Alia hopes her listeners walk out feeling seen, heard, and thought of. That they are not alone and that we all go through many seasons of relationships, breakups, jealousy, and glow-up.

Alia Fleury’s artistry embodies her personal life experiences, the joy, and instrumental influences shaped by her New Orleans upbringing. She croon’s her way to broken hearts, comforting and aiding the listener while delivering a sensual unique essence to R&B.

DMX’s Daughter Sonovah Pays Tribute To Her Late Father At Texas Show

Swizz Beats and the Ruff Ryders released DMX’s latest album Exodus on Friday, May 28 as a tribute to the recently deceased icon, but it is his daughter Sonovah’s performance in his honor that made the most noise this weekend.

At 8-years-old, Sonovah Hillman Jr. rocked the mic with her own teeny-bopper rendition of her dad’s songs, “Slippin'” and “Ruff Ryders’ Anthem.”

The stage was originally meant for her dad, who was scheduled to perform at the venue before his untimely demise.

The promoters decided to shift the programming and flip it into a tribute memorial for the “Get At Me Dog” rapper and invited his family members to come and receive his flowers.

In addition to Sonovah, her mother, her brother Exodus and DMX’s fiancée Desiree were in attendance.

The Dog’s protegee Drag-On also performed, closing out the night of celebration.

DMX transitioned on April 9, 2021, after slipping into a coma on April 2 at the White Plains Hospital in New York.

He leaves to mourn 15 children: Xavier Simmons, Tacoma Simmons, Sean Simmons, Sasha Simmons, Praise Mary Ella Simmons, Jada Oden-Simmons, Z’riyah Simmons, Emmanuel Simmons, Sonovah Hillman Jr. Simmons, Aaliyah Simmons, Michelle Walton-Simmons, Javon Wayne-Simmons, Exodus Aidyn, and K’dyn Simmons (twins).

His memory will never be forgotten and it is beautiful to see the children push his legacy forward.

Chadwick Boseman’s Howard University Masterclass Approved

“Black Panther” star Chadwick Boseman pitched an entertainment masterclass idea to Howard University before he passed away last year, that the university is planning to roll it out to its fine arts students.

The publication the award-winning actor wanted to get “Howard University students up to speed on the entertainment biz early and often, which is why he came up with a great idea for his alma mater.”

Wayne Frederick, the university’s President reportedly said Chadwick’s alma mater will be rolling out a masterclass template for the Chadwick A Boseman College of Fine Arts that is “actually inspired by the man himself who presented his concept to head honchos before he passed away last year.”

Frederick claimed Boseman “wanted to help spearhead the program” and had “actually signed paperwork to get it started.”

The news come after academics at the historically Black university (HBCU) announced earlier this month they are renaming the College of Fine Arts after the 21 Bridges star.

Students enrolled in the college will be introduced to a new curriculum, which will help them get prepped for their specific fields of study.

They will be lectured by industry professionals, who will share real-life experiences of working in the creative industries via a combination of day-to-day learning and coursework.

Frederick credited the late actor’s own experience at Howard as a big inspiration for the masterclass, including the memorable tale of Denzel Washington once paying for Chadwick’s tuition as a young student.

The “Cosby Show” and “This Is Us” star Phylicia Rashad – the newly named Dean of the fine arts college – will help to steer the new masterclass.

Mariah Carey Ready For Family Feud With Her Brother Morgan

Mariah Carey has hit back at her brother’s defamation lawsuit, claiming it was in the public interest for her to talk about him in her 2020 memoir.

Mariah’s older brother, Morgan Carey, took legal action against the singer earlier this year after he accused her of writing “malicious falsehoods” about him in her book, “The Meaning of Mariah Carey.”

In the memoir, Mariah recounted a vicious fight between her brother and their father, and claimed he had been institutionalized when he was younger.

She also claimed she “never felt safe” around “troubled” Morgan, because of his “unpredictable” rage issues.

The “We Belong Together” hitmaker has now filed papers with the Manhattan Supreme Court, insisting her claims are not defamatory and the book’s message of seeking triumph over adversity is a matter of public interest.

Mariah’s suit will force her brother to seek a higher legal standard to prove defamation, and the singer insists his current lawsuit doesn’t meet the requirements.

Court papers read: “The story of Ms. Carey’s rise from a dysfunctional and sometimes violent family environment has significant public value, particularly to any young person who may find her/himself stuck in similarly harsh and dispiriting circumstances and who can benefit from the inspiration to employ their talents in pursuit of their dreams.”

In Morgan’s original filing, he claimed that, as a result of the publication of the memoir, he has “suffered extreme mental anguish, outrage, severe anxiety about his future and his ability to support himself and his family, harm to his reputation and his earning capacity, embarrassment among his friends and associates, disruption of his personal life and loss of enjoyment of the ordinary pleasures of everyday life.”

A$AP Rocky Makes Business Moves With Investment In Klarna

A$AP Rocky told the world in his GQ interview that he was still rocking with Sweden.

Well, his latest move is proof positive that his unfortunate 2019 incarceration hasn’t turned him off at all.

The Harlem rapper will be joining fellow rap star Snoop Dogg in an investment cohort to the Swedish company, Klarna.

Klarna is an updated version of your momma’s lay-a-way and auntie’s Rent-A-Center plan. The difference is programs like this, Afterpay and PayPal, potentially helps with the individual shopper’s credit.

A$AP Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, said, “Klarna is a company that looks ahead and challenges the status quo.”

“It’s a radical way to approach the crediting system,” he also notes. “It helps people with financial literacy.”

To seal the deal, he will become the chief executive of the company for a day.

Even without Rocky’s participation in the brand, Klarna is increasingly popular with online consumers. In fact, Klarna released numbers that revealed that there are 17 million Americans actively using the service to buy stuff.

That’s double since last year. App downloads in the United States alone have shot up 125%.

Forbes reports that the company makes its money “from charging merchant fees between 3 and 7%, revenue grew 37% from 2019 to 2020.”

It is further reported that Klarna has made nearly $19 billion in the first quarter of 2021 and has more than 90 million active global users. The company averages 2 million transactions per day with over 250,000 merchants or stores.

And Reuters stated that the fintech company (currently valued at $31 billion) may shoot up even higher after this most recent round of funding to a value of $50 billion.

Welp … that’s enough to change any bad thoughts about the Swedish.

DaBaby Investigated Over Memorial Day Shooting In Miami

The Miami police department plans to interview rapper DaBaby about a double shooting in the city that resulted in two people being hospitalized on Memorial Day.

What’s their lead connecting the chart-topper to the crime?

So far, the news has reported that the Miami Beach Police Department wants to question DaBaby (along with others) because he was in the city working.

The Billboard award winner was in the Miami Gardens section of the city performing on stage at a private event at the Hard Rock Stadium.

The concert, which was a part of the IAM3 Conference, was a surprise to the thousands of attendees who seemed to love his show. DaBaby’s team captured the experience on his Instagram.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CPhQe0jJM92/

But while people were partying on the inside, gunplay erupted on the outside just blocks away.

According to NBC Miami, the Miami Beach Police spokesperson Ernesto Rodriguez mentioned that shootings happened about a half-hour away at the 1st Street and Ocean Drive, a location close to the Prime 112 and Prime Italian restaurants around midnight.

The victims both received non-life-threatening injuries: one was shot in the leg and the other in the shoulder.

Upon the arrival of medical professionals, the two were taken to the Ryder Trauma Center. One was released from the hospital, but the other remains in critical condition (as of publishing).

After the police arrived on the scene, they temporarily shut down the MacArthur Causeway to conduct an investigation.

Witnesses said that they heard a few dozen shots and heard a car speeding after the disrupting sounds of bullets peeled through the air.

One witness, James Dozier said, “a couple of seconds later it was like ‘pop, pop, pop, pop, pop,’ a whole bunch of shooting … And then you can hear the car zooming down the road. You heard a car like trying to get away.”

While an SUV is being looked at as a possible link, no real evidence has been released.

Nor is there any reason given why the “Rockstar” artist is being tapped for questions.

The Scoop On Issa Rae’s Hip-Hop Plan…Gangsta!

Issa Rae has a new artist signed to her Raedio label! Did you know that? Well, this business venture is through Atlantic Records, but the artists have not ALL been announced They dropped their first track last Friday.

Now, the interesting thing about Raedio is that they are doing it a bit of old school. They are not jumping on bandwagons or seeing the hot new Tok Tok, Tok Tik or Tik Tok rapper. Raedio seems to be working with young, relatively unknown artists and breaking them in a traditional way.

Enter: Ncognita.

She has a new song called “Gangsta Lean” that hit on the DSPs last week. She’s a new but dope lyricist. She is the first release on Raedio. My insiders say they are going to go full steam ahead with homegirl even though she is new. She is like Def Jam and LL Cool J or something. What do you think about this song?

I think she is dope. The ladies are coming with the heat!

I did a little digging and found out a bit about her. Ncognita is from LA and has been doing music for a minute. I do not yet know how she got with Issa. I do know…its on! ISSA IS IN THE RAP GAME!
