Nav Drops Wheezy-Produced ‘Emergency Tsunami’ Mixtape

Canadian rapper/singer Nav is closing out the last two months of 2020 with a new musical project. His Emergency Tsunami mixtape hit DSPs this morning (November 6) via Republic Records and The Weeknd’s XO Records.

Southern beatmaker Wheezy produced the entire 14-track body of work. Nav also called on his Hip Hop peers Gunna, Young Thug, Lil Baby, Lil Keed, and Sah Babii for guest spots on Emergency Tsunami.

In May, Nav released Good Intentions which opened at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart with 135,000 first-week units. Last year, he dropped Bad Habits which became his first #1 album by collecting around 82,000 units in its initial seven days.

The Good Intentions single “Turks” with Gunna and Travis Scott was also produced by Wheezy. That record peaked at #17 on the Hot 100 chart. Nav scored another Top 20 entry in 2020 as a feature on Internet Money and Gunna’s “Lemonade” which rose all the way to #9.

Offset To Make His Feature Film Acting Debut In ‘American Sole’

Kiari “Offset” Cephus is starting to lean heavily into the acting world. Earlier this year, the Atlanta-raised entertainer guest-starred on an episode of the CBS show NCIS: Los Angeles with series regular LL Cool J. Set is now ready to make the leap to the big screen.

It was announced that Offset was added to the cast of STXfilms’ forthcoming American Sole. Pete Davidson, O’Shea Jackson Jr., and Camila Mendes were already announced for the drama directed by Ian Edelman (How to Make It in America, The After Party). The motion picture is being produced by comedy star Kevin Hart through his HartBeat production company as well as NBA star Chris Paul through his Ohh Dip!!! Productions.

American Sole follows two twenty-somethings, played by Davidson and Jackson, who are dealing with college debt. They use after-market sneaker reselling to try and achieve the “American Dream,” but dire financial circumstances and the involvement of a shady investor cause that dream to become a nightmare.

Offset will combine his acting talents and musical talents for the movie. The Grammy-nominated rapper was also tapped to curate and executive produce American Sole: The Soundtrack Album in collaboration with director Edelman and Music Supervisor/STX Music Executive Jason Markey.

“This is my first feature film as an actor. After doing NCIS, I knew I wanted to do more acting. Landing this role in American Sole is dope,” said Offset. “Not only do I get to star in the movie, but I get to bring my skills to the table as the curator and Executive Producer for the soundtrack. I’m bringing my world to the big screen. I hope the world is ready.”

“To have Offset joining our team is a dream scenario,” said Adam Fogelson, Chairman of STXfilms Motion Picture Group. “Offset’s character is important to the storyline and we couldn’t be more excited to have him working with us behind the scenes as he works with Ian and the team at STX to help us define the sound of this film. We could not be in better hands.”

It appears Offset and his wife Belcalis “Cardi B” Almánzar are on a mission to expand their entertainment empire into different sectors of cultural relevance. 2019’s Hustlers was Cardi’s first film role, and she will be in the next installment in the Fast & Furious movie franchise titled F9. The Hip Hop couple is also seriously involved in fashion, technology, and politics.

DMX Discusses Getting Tricked Into Smoking Crack At 14 By His Rap Mentor

Earl “DMX” Simmons has always been open about his battles with substance abuse. Those personal struggles led to the creation of classic records but also put him in troubling situations that caused the Hip Hop legend to face numerous judges in court.

While appearing on the People’s Party with Talib Kweli podcast, DMX discussed his rap mentor playing a role in him discovering crack-cocaine before he was old enough to legally drive. After Kweli mentioned Ready Ron, the Dark Man briefly halted the conversation before going into the story of his first time smoking crack.

“S### just got real. I was in Yonkers. I’d just come from being in institutions from the age of 7 to 14. This guy, Ready Ron, he was like an older brother to me. He would rap, and I would do the beatbox. I loved this guy like an older brother,” said DMX as he fought back tears. “This guy, he introduced me to what would be the best part of my life which would be rap… the theme of my life is being blessed with a curse.”

The 49-year-old emcee added, “Me and my man did a robbery one night. It was his birthday. We split the money up. I said, ‘Here, go get something nice for your birthday.’ He came back with a blunt rolled up. As I’m counting the money, he passed the blunt around… It just f##### me up. I later found out that he laced the blunt with crack. Why would you do that to a child? He knew I looked up to him… A monster was born.”

DMX went on to say that childhood trauma can resurface in destructive ways as an adult and one of the bravest things a person can do is talk about their mental health complications with the right person. He also offered that drug use was never a problem but actually a symptom of a bigger problem. The full episode of People’s Party with Talib Kweli featuring DMX is scheduled to be released on Monday, November 9.

24kGoldn Talks Working With Justin Bieber & J Balvin For The “Mood” Remix

American recording artist 24kGoldn already scored a #1 on the Hot 100 chart with “Mood” featuring Iann Dior. The Californian and the Puerto Rican’s track remained in the top spot for a second week.

“Mood” just got a boost when the 2020 XXL Freshman drafted Justin Bieber and J Balvin for a remix of the song. 24kGoldn spoke with Zane Lowe on Apple Music’s New Music Daily about the new version of his breakout hit.

“We got the whole North America, South America connection here. We got me and Ian from the US. We got Justin Bieber from the North, J Balvin from Latin America. So I just think a song like ‘Mood’ is a song for everybody. That’s always been my goal and my intention, make music for everybody. To spread that so that people from all of the Spanish speaking countries in the world are going to understand it, all of the people around the world that love Justin Bieber are going to feel included in, that feels very in the spirit, very, in the mood of ‘Mood,'” stated 24kGoldn.

He added, “I damn near cried, bro. I damn near had to shed a tear man. Because it’s so funny because in a lot of interviews I’ve been saying, people, when they ask me, ‘What’s your dream collaboration?’ I say, ‘Justin Bieber and Drake, Justin Bieber and Drake.’ We knocked off Bieber off the list. Now it’s just time for the 6 God.

In addition, 24kGold talked about putting together his forthcoming album, tentatively titled El Dorado, throughout the COVID-19 quarantine era. That project is expected to drop in early 2021. The San Francisco native also told Lowe that he has one more single likely dropping this year that could include a feature from 2020 Hip Hop MVP candidate DaBaby. He confirmed working with Trippie Redd and Sean Kingston on music too.

Mike WiLL Made-It Recruits Nicki Minaj & NBA YoungBoy For “What That Speed Bout?!”

Overnight, superproducer Mike WiLL Made-It let loose his new “What That Speed Bout?!” record. The EarDrummers leader connected with Nicki Minaj and NBA YoungBoy for the single.

A music video for “What That Speed Bout?!” arrived as well. Minaj was still pregnant when they filmed the Edgar Esteves and Austin McCraken-directed visuals. She gave birth to her son in September.

2020 has also seen Nicki Minaj show up on tracks by Doja Cat, ASAP Ferg, Ty Dolla Sign, and Sada Baby. NBA YoungBoy dropped his sophomore studio LP, Top, in September which debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart.

“What That Speed Bout?!” joins other Mike WiLL Made-It-produced cuts such as “Tupac Back” by Meek Mill, “Pour It Up” by Rihanna, “Formation” by Beyoncé, “Black Beatles” by Rae Sremmurd, and “Humble” by Kendrick Lamar.

Reginae Carter Calls Out Donald Trump Supporters Like Her Dad Lil Wayne

Some of Lil Wayne’s fans were shocked to find out the Young Money leader endorsed Donald Trump for president in 2020. Apparently, the decision to express public support for the Republican presidential candidate caused a rift between Wayne and his girlfriend Denise Bidot.

Other people in Wayne’s life are breaking with him on backing Trump too. The “Lollipop” rapper’s ex-wife, Toya Johnson, and their daughter, Reginae Carter, took to Instagram to share their thoughts on Trump’s widely condemned White House press conference on Thursday.

“After hearing this last press conference by Trump, if you supported him in any way you should give us a public apology like right now. That was embarrassing!!!!” wrote Johnson on her Instagram Story. Carter reposted her mother’s message and added, “Nah [for real]… what my mama said.”

Many political pundits, journalists, and observers claimed Trump’s statement, which was filled with inaccurate information about the 2020 presidential election, could lead to a constitutional crisis. Networks such as MSNBC, NPR, CBS, and NBC cut away from the speech.

A few Republican lawmakers broke with Trump over his baseless claims of voter fraud and a rigged election. Other members of the party, like Senator Lindsey Graham and GOP House leader Kevin McCarthy, did not condemn Trump’s false allegations. Former Vice President Joe Biden currently leads Donald Trump in the Electoral College race 264 votes to 214 votes, according to the Associated Press.

Scott Storch, Eve & The Black Eyed Peas Feature Their Digital Art On Cryptograph Auction Platform

A number of Hip-Hop artists and music industry power players are have teamed with a new cryptograph platform to auction off custom digital collectibles.

Scott Storch, Eve, and Apl.De.Ap of The Black Eyed Peas, All American Rejects, and Tom Morello have partnered with digital collectible auction site Cryptograph to auction off digital collectibles to benefit charitable causes such as Global Wildlife Conservation.

The blockchain-based auction site, which is powered by Ethereum, features one-of-a-kind music collectibles by several top artists.

Cryptograph launched in July of 2020 and is bringing innovations to the music industry, with the introduction of the digital collectibles known as NFT’s (Non-Fungible Tokens).

“Cryptograph’s blockchain technology will have huge disruptive implications on many industries including music,” explained super-producer Scott Storch. “Blockchain technology has made it possible for my art and my industry to thrive in an autonomous way, allowing the creative freedom to produce and self publish art and control the financial long term value that the work generates in an automated, permission-less, secure, transparent and trustless way.”

Cryptograph hopes to solve some of the financial problems currently plaguing the music industry, due to the lack of touring, and other revenue sources as artists struggle to recover from the global pandemic.

Nas Says New Rappers’ Clout Chasing Is “Corny”

Nas goes about creating songs in a “different way” now that he’s older.

The 47-year-old rapper released his latest record King’s Disease earlier this year – his 12th studio album. And while he’s still as popular as ever, Nas admitted in an interview that he doesn’t try and compete with his younger rivals.

“With (2006 album) Hip Hop Is Dead it was a whole different time, but it’s definitely connected to what I was saying about rap being all about clout and stuff,” Nas told NME.com. “But today’s game doesn’t faze me; it’s different. I’m in a different place. I have a different job when it comes to making music. It’s strange because I’m the same me, but I’m older. So there’s different ways of going about things and different things that I care about. But the clout thing stands out because it’s show business.

“It’s Muhammad Ali when he’s mouthing off, which changed boxing and made him more entertaining. It’s 2Pac when he was going wild on people, which creates entertainment. So I get that part of it, but I don’t care for it when it’s only that. When it’s only clout. When there’s no real purpose behind the record other than trying to get streams. I wish artists would try not to do so much clout [chasing] because the people notice it and it’s corny. But at the same time, who am I to say anything? Everybody carry on.”

On his song Ultra Black, Nas includes a line about young rap star Doja Cat – rapping: “We going Ultra Black / Unapologetically Black / The opposite of Doja Cat.”

And reflecting on the attention the diss received, Nas added: “Well, I’ve been away, so, of course, I mention someone’s name that’s popular and people are gonna talk about it. I hear people do it all the time but no one makes a big deal of it. Maybe it’s because I don’t put out records a lot, so they’re like, ‘Whoa!’

“I don’t really know the world that these stars live in anymore. I’m rapping the same way I did when I was on the block, but now there’s a new world and what I say can take off with social media and I can’t do anything about it.”

Fatt Sosa Talks ‘Big Marvin’ EP, Working With Rick Ross And Starting A YMCA

Fatt Sosa has some of the biggest cosigns in the game, and he’s not stopping until he gets to the top.

Dubbed the King of North Carolina, the rapper and singer hails from the small town of Angier. To date, he’s worked with everyone from Jim Jones to 2 Chainz.

Describing himself as a “country fat artist,“ Sosa states, “It’s the country, not too much to do here. Either you’re in school doing what you’re supposed to do or you’re getting in trouble, one of the two.”

Sosa’s unique sound blends the likes of R&B and hip-hop, turning trap music into his own soulful sound. Injecting real-life experiences and emotions into his lyrics and pairing it with his Southern twang, Sosa hopes to bring listeners into his universe. Recently tapping the MMG boss Rick Ross on his newest single “Pimpin,” the 28-year-old fully brings his fantasies to life in the cinematic visual.

AllHipHop: What did you need to come into play for you?

Fatt Sosa: I was raised in the church. I started singing in the church at 11 or 12, when I found out I could really sing. From there, it went to doing little talent shows in school. At 15, I was doing little competitions on the radio. I won 100 times straight, so I became a household name on the radio. I started actually going into the studio around 16 and recording. I was going in actually as a rapper, that didn’t work out too good.

AllHipHop: Really, why?

Fatt Sosa: I could freestyle real good, but I couldn’t actually rap. It was my first time going to the studio, but naturally I could sing. Going into the studio, it’s hard to record all of this stuff anyway. It’s very hard to record. Going in there trying to rap, it’s more harder than going in there trying to sing.

AllHipHop: That’s interesting.

Fatt Sosa: I could sing real, real good so going in there doing that was pretty cool. Even that was actually horrible. If I think back now to all my music back then, very horrible now that I think about it. Harmonies all over the place, total rig. Around 16, I started recording not even in a real studio, but in one of my uncle’s friend’s barn. It went from there. I met Soulja Boy’s road manager, his name’s Juice. I met him, he was doing parties in Fairview, North Carolina. I started going there, opening up. Doing summer jams for the radio stations I was singing on. I landed on 106 & Park, I won that. Song that I had recorded that I won on 106 & Park, became big in the South region: Virginia, North Carolina, a bit of South Carolina.

I did Apollo, I won Apollo as well the same year. Mind you, I was 16 then. I’m 28 now. In between those gaps, me finding myself. Me being hard-headed, not listening. It didn’t go the way I wanted it to go. It did good for the 2 years on the radio and doing 106 & Park. Everything was going good but me not being focused and listening, me finding myself in between that time. I did a couple records with Jim Jones, shot 2 videos with him. Did a song with 2 Chainz, a couple other artists.

AllHipHop: Talk about changing your name from Pooh Bear.

Fatt Sosa: 2 or 3 years ago, that’s when I actually started doing rap and R&B. That’s when I perfected my craft of rapping. I couldn’t be a 25 year-old rapper calling myself Pooh Bear, so I changed it to Fatt Sosa. That’s what this type of music comes in at with me mixing, merging both of my talents together. Me rapping and singing, rapping and putting R&B harmonies behind it, doing my own hooks and singing. The style of music I do is different.

AllHipHop: Big Marvin EP is out now, how are you feeling?

Fatt Sosa: I feel good, I’m in a good space. This is my first EP dropped on a major. I’m very excited for the opportunity that my label, Reckless Republic and Island/Universal, have given me. It’s all new for me, but I’m very excited. I’m getting a lot of good feedback: a lot of blogs, a lot of fans. I’m blessed.

AllHipHop: What was the creative process of putting this album together during quarantine?

Fatt Sosa: It was so confusing for me. I know I had to get the business done as far as getting in my creative mode and recording, but still I wanted to be safe. I have kids, I have a grandmother I go visit. With Corona, it’s so messy. You have to really be up on it, me traveling the way I do. It was new for me adapting, but it still worked out for the better. When I did get to get into the studio, me and my producer Sleaze or my other producer Mike Mixer, we come in with my engineer Julio and catch a vibe. We wanted to put together something ready for the folks before we have it for the album. Something real nice and decent, good quality music. Process was 50/50, being very cautious with the COVID thing going on now and still trying to get in the creative mode. Still do what we came to do.

AllHipHop: Linking with Rick Ross on “Pimpin,” how did that happen?

Fatt Sosa: Super dope. When you think about player, pimpin, fly, talking about females, something for the club, in that category, who else but Rick Ross? It was a perfect fit. I look up to him, he’s a legend in the game. Biggie my favorite rapper. What closer you gon’ get to Biggie Smalls? It’s Rick Ross. It made sense. As we see and hear, he killed the song. He killed his verse. He did his thing in the video, it’s a blessing to even be on a record with him.

AllHipHop: Best memory from the video shoot?

Fatt Sosa: It’s business at the end of the day. You don’t want to overstep your boundaries, even though you a fan at the end of the day. You’re in the music industry now so the people you grew up listening to, you’re right here with him doing a song. You created the song, he got on it. It was dope, he liked it. During the video shoot, he came up to me and said “yo this video real dope, I f### with the song.” He really laid it out. “Normally you get cars, money, it’s the typical videos.” He said “this video fire.” It meant a lot to me.

Talk about finding your way to Reckless Republic, the Atlanta label founded by Kerry Carter. How did that all happen? My brother is a good friend of Shawn’s who’s a good friend of Keri’s, they put it together. My brother, he’s the biggest party promoter over here on the East Coast. He does a lot of parties. Shawn and Keri have a bunch of artists there so he built a lot of relationships, from him booking their artists, coming down and doing parties with us. Shawn introduced us to Keri because we was trying to find a situation. Keri heard the music, he loved it. It was dope. He loved it, then he took it to Island/Universal. They loved it. Now we’re all a big happy family.

AllHipHop: 3 things you need in the studio?

Fatt Sosa: As sad as it might be, I need my Backwoods.

AllHipHop: When you come to LA, I got gas for you.

Fatt Sosa: Oh yeah, I’ma be in LA. I’m shooting my music video with my bro Toosi in Malibu. I’ma be in LA for a few days recording. I’m actually supposed to be going to Vegas today, I missed my flight. I hate Vegas anyway. I gotta have my Backwoods, I gotta have my Fiji water, and I have to have my snacks.

AllHipHop: What snacks do you like?

Fatt Sosa: Fruit snacks. Maybe something sweet, Reese’s cups or Snickers. Salt and vinegar chips, because you have to mix with that balance. When I’m eating my fruit snacks, while I’m going through pacing. I’ma smoke a little bit, then I want something sweet, then I want something salty. That’s how that goes. If you really want to be honest, I got to have my Backwoods and Fiji.

AllHipHop: Goals for yourself as an artist at this point in your career?

Fatt Sosa: What artist doesn’t want to do real good, sell Platinum, sold out tours? I started my own label, I have an artist who’s coming out. I want to build a YMCA down there where I’m from in Angier, North Carolina, so I can bring some NBA and NFL friends. Give the kids hope because there’s a lot of talent, but not a lot of resources to help them get where they want to go. Me being on a platform where I can do that, I want to do the YMCA. Invite a couple people: free sneakers, free jerseys for the kids. Give them more hope, that’s going to be big for them, them seeing me coming down from where I’m from.

I’m going to open up a restaurant and franchise a cookout down here while I’m here in North Carolina. Some land, some high-rises, rebuild them, sell them. I’m shooting my own movie starting tonight, the 3 of us. Every year I’m about to start an annual Turkey Drive and Christmas Drive. I was going to do it in North Carolina and LA. I actually lived in LA years ago, I lived in downtown LA. I was recording, shooting videos. I’d go to Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills to shop, for it to be so expensive there and all those expensive clothes, there’s so many homeless people staying on those corners. So many. Go over there, give all those people clothes, socks, boxes of shirts, pants. Even if they’re still standing on the street, you’re giving them fresh clothes and food baskets. People go spend so much money on jewelry, people spend so much money on cars. We can take $10K, even $5K and go crazy over there. That’s what I’m on. When you bless other people, God keeps blessing you. That’s how I feel.

AllHipHop: What can we expect next? I know you got your film, which is dope.

Fatt Sosa: I have a couple songs I’m about to drop. A couple videos: something with Gucci Mane, something with Young Scooter, something with Cam’ron from Dipset. I’m about to shoot my video for “Takel,” the first single off my EP. I got an album dropping at the top of the year.

AllHipHop: What can we expect from the album?

Fatt Sosa: 15 tracks. I’ve got a lot of dope features on there, a lot of dope visuals. I’m excited about it.

Drakeo The Ruler Cops A Plea And Gets Released From Prison

After being charged with murder in 2019, West Coast rapper Drakeo the Ruler has been acquitted and has been released from prison, after striking a peal deal with authorities.

Before anyone suggests that he got out for snitching, his attorneys confirm that the deal was made after he copped to his own participation in a crime.

The Los Angeles based artist made headlines when he was on trial to defend himself on criminal gang conspiracy charges. The law also tried to bang him with a gun charge for shooting from a motor vehicle, along with a gang enhancement charge.

According to Jeff Weiss, Drakeo pled guilty to the latter charge. The first charge of criminal street gang conspiracy was dropped.

“Drakeo has been put through hell over the last three years,” his attorney said. “After one day of trial, the prosecutors approached us about a time served offer. Drakeo will be home to his family in the next few hours. It is a good day for Drakeo and rap music.”

In the summer of 2019, Drakeo was acquitted of murder, a conspiracy to murder, and five attempted murder charges. He beat the charges but got knocked for possession of a firearm by a felon.

It was reported that the jury could not agree on his criminal street gang charge— or the shooting from a vehicle.

While serving his time, the rapper has been productive. Drakeo released an album Thank You for Using GTL from the Los Angeles County’s Men’s Central Jail, recorded via a phone.

Rapper Claims He Wrote For AZ! HUH?

AZ is one of the most prolific rap artists ever! He is well known for rapping with Nas, Foxy Brown, The Firm and others. He is without question one of the dopest rappers in the New York and east coast region. But a disturbing new rumor has come forth by way of social media and a man now claims he was AZ’s ghostwriter. HUH?

I’ll be quite frank and honest I have never heard of the man known as Starkim Allah. But this man is claiming that he wrote for the Brooklyn don. AZ is without question a man of respect, but can this be true? Could it be true that somebody has written for him? I have to say that I find this hard to believe but they have done a lot of collaborations. Still, does this mean that he wrote for AZ? I think it could be a potential situation we are collaborations and help we’re given, but would that still be the equivalent of writing?

A CLOSER LOOK…he says he wrote the HOOK on this song that he highlights on IG. I am not sure if he has more than this, but he will need it.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CHIhDnvDJUF/?utm_source=ig_embed

I am thinking he was in the stu with big homie and lent him something and thought he should have been compensated. But why do it for free? If you are doing business, do business. If you give it away, you gave it away.

I am now about to listen to this man’s music a little bit and see if there’s any similarity to his style and AZ stuff.

Here are both men rapping in 2008:

This is clearly a bit more recently.

Janelle Monáe Gets Dragged For This Twitter Comment!

I never pegged Janelle Monáe as a person that did hard drugs, but I am beginning to question that now. The singer-turned-actor got on Twitter and said the following:

F### Donald Tromp and every American citizen, celebrity, white woman, black man, ETC who supported him burnnnnnnnnnn
— Janelle Monáe, Cindi Mayweather👽🚆🤖🚀🪐 (@JanelleMonae) November 4, 2020

First of all, she called Trump “Tromp” and that man’s name is not hard to spell. Secondly, she blasted just about everybody that supported The Donald. First of all, I am pretty much convinced that she hates Black men more than Satan. I understand that she is pansexual, but why did she call out Black men like the vast majority of us didn’t vote Democrat? Black men can technically be attractive to Jannie if she’s a true pansexual and not a lesbian, as was previously speculated.

I don’t care about her orientation, but I do care that she includes Black men in her group of people that should “burn.” Actually, I care that includes just about everybody is included in there. What does she want to see to folks that do not share her views and values?

Anyway, she did delete this tweet after apparently getting dragged on the social platform.  I got to this too late to see the replies to her initial remark. However, I can imagine “her people” yelled at her and told her to “delete that sh#t!” Remember, the chick is a Hollywood thing now. Her days of being helped in her career by Black men like Diddy and Big Boi are long, long gone. I doubt if anything will come out of this, but it sure is a weird thing for folks that supported her, even the often problematic white women. LOL!

By the way, she claims to be 34, but those numbers don’t add up if you look at the time she was in high school, college, and got on in the industry. She looks very young, but she is closer to 40 than that…

Tekashi 6ix9ine’s Kidnapper Anthony “Harv” Ellison Gets 24-Year Sentence

On November 4, Anthony “Harv” Ellison was convicted for kidnapping and other charges connected to a racketeering conspiracy case. U.S. District Judge Paul A. Engelmayer sentenced the 33-year-old alleged Nine Trey Gangster Bloods leader to 24 years in federal prison and five years of supervised release.

“Anthony Ellison was a high-ranking member of the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods, a violent gang that wreaked havoc across New York City, and he was convicted of racketeering, kidnapping, and a violent assault with a dangerous weapon. Now, thanks to the outstanding work of our partners at the NYPD, HSI, and ATF, he will spend the next 24 years in federal prison,” states Audrey Strauss, Acting U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York.

Brooklyn rapper Tekashi 6ix9ine (born Daniel Hernandez) pleaded guilty to nine criminal charges in his own federal racketeering case in 2019. The “Trollz” performer agreed to cooperate with the prosecution by testifying against Ellison and other Nine Trey affiliates.

As part of the plea deal, 6ix9ine swore in court that Ellison and co-defendant Aljermiah “Nuke” Mack set up the 2018 kidnapping and robbery in New York City. Ellison and Mack claimed the abduction was actually part of an orchestrated scheme to promote Tekashi’s music.

6ix9ine began serving home confinement in April after getting an early release from a two-year prison term. The government witness attempted to revive his rap career following his exit from the penitentiary, but his TattleTales album was met with negative reviews and disappointing sales.

Polo G Performs “Flex,” “Epidemic” & “Wishing For A Hero” During Tiny Desk (Home) Concert

Taurus “Polo G” Bartlett is the latest recording artist to take part in NPR Music’s Tiny Desk series. The Chicago-bred rapper put together a live band for his performance in California.

Lamar Edwards (keys), Vasjon Hill (drums), Austin Cain (bass), and Chris McCorkle (guitar) wore Los Angeles Lakers jerseys as they played on an outside basketball court. Polo G represented for Basketball Hall of Famer Magic Johnson by wearing number 32.

Throughout the 10-minute NPR set, Polo G ran through the songs “Flex,” “Epidemic,” and “Wishing For A Hero.” Shaunise Harris, Candice Boyd, and Nava Morris served as background vocalists. Bella Mazzola and Sami Wideberg directed the video.

“I recorded this song during the [COVID-19] pandemic. During the start of the pandemic, I was locked in during quarantine and I really put my heart and soul in it,” said the 2020 XXL Freshman Class member about creating his “Epidemic” single.

Polo G released his second studio album The Goat on May 15. The project features Mustard, Juice Wrld, Stunna 4 Vegas, NLE Choppa, Mike Will Made It, Lil Baby, and BJ the Chicago Kid. The Goat debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 chart and has been certified Gold by the RIAA.

Cyn Santana Reacts To Viral Tweet About Her Ex-Fiancé Joe Budden

Back in 2018, Joe Budden proposed to Cyn Santana during a live taping of The Joe Budden Podcast. However, the stars of VH1’s Love & Hip Hop: New York television series never made it down the aisle.

Even though they never got married, the Redirected Energy EP creator is still keeping up with what is going on with her former fiancé on social media. One Twitter user apparently attempted to make a joke using Budden’s face. Santana had a response for the viral tweet.

The person posted “a lot of y’all are lacking” along with a picture of the rapper-turned-podcaster and a pile of pennies. Santana quoted that tweet and added, “That ain’t Common sis but da joke would’ve been funny lol.”

It is not exactly clear if the original poster actually made a mistake with the images or was just attempting to troll the internet. Later, @imvesta returned to Twitter to say, “Guys I KNOW this is Swizz Beatz, chill.”

Budden and Santana dated for several years before calling off their engagement in 2019. In September of this year, a conversation between the ex-couple leaked online. On the audio, Santana seemed to reference being physically dragged by Budden in the past. He has denied abusing her.

Summer Walker Scolds The Black Community For Having No Unity & Being Unorganized

Summer Walker’s social media alter ego, Galactawhore, is very outspoken about a range of topics. Yesterday, the “Come Thru” singer used her second Instagram page to share her thoughts about African Americans.

The 24-year-old LRVN representative from Atlanta uploaded a screenshot of a comment by an IG user who had written, “The whole system is corrupt. Burn everything down.” Walker’s response pushed back on the idea of supporting anarchy, but she also criticized her own race of people.

“You literally won’t get anywhere doing that but making everyone go into martial law and nobody won’t get s###. Y’all need to take that same passion and energy and use it to come together in the Black community. Black people have no unity. We want everyone [else’s] support but won’t support each other but nobody wants to hear all that. So unorganized,” posted Walker.

In her next several posts, Walker (as Galactawhore) changed the subject to pursuing goals and women not having sex with men for buying them dinner. The latter conversation was sparked by a tweet from Sukihana where the rising rapper suggested she would prefer to sleep with her female friends rather than get dressed up to go on a date with a man.

John Legend Clowns Donald Trump For Prematurely Claiming Victory In Certain States

At the moment, it looks as if Joe Biden will be the 46th President of the United States. The former Vice President in the Barack Obama Administration currently leads incumbent President Donald Trump in the electoral college race 264 votes to 214 votes. Several swing states are still counting ballots.

However, Trump is already claiming victory. The Republican politician took to Twitter to falsely announce that he won several states that have not been called by media outlets or election officials. Twitter flagged Trump’s tweets as being inaccurate.

Many social media users reacted to Trump prematurely claiming he won the 2020 presidential race. One of those people was R&B superstar John Legend who called on his followers to troll the president with their own false announcements.

“Let’s all claim things we don’t have any right to. What y’all got,” tweeted Legend on Wednesday afternoon. The Bigger Love album creator added, “To be clear, you have to say ‘hereby’ to make it legally binding.”

Legend recently called out Hip Hop artists, such as Lil Wayne and Lil Pump, that showed support for President Trump in the closing weeks of the campaign. During a performance at a Biden rally in Philadephia, he said, “Some of your former favorite rappers have been taken in by these lies. I think they even founded a new supergroup, it’s called ‘The Sunken Place.’”

Petey Pablo Goes Ghost Hunting In ‘Haunted’ Documentary

Director Tony H. Cadwell (Behind The Sightings, Balsam) is set to release his Haunted documentary and television show in 2021. The Grammy-nominated “Raise Up” performer Petey Pablo is part of the project.

“This investigation with Petey Pablo is the most insane investigation I have ever been involved in. You have an old family farm in Greensboro, North Carolina. It’s home to a creepy haunted attraction. But what is terrifying about this place is its history,” says Cadwell.

He adds, “There is a graveyard on the property. The property has ties to a notorious Revolutionary War battle. The property owner confirmed that there had been numerous exorcisms conducted on the grounds with spirits bound to the land. When you factor in having Petey Pablo involved in the investigation, you have something truly horrifying and extremely entertaining.”

Pablo will conduct his first paranormal investigation at the old family farm that was converted into a haunted attraction known as The Woods. The North Carolina native released a trailer for Haunted on his YouTube channel.

“Everyone has heard ghost stories about places being haunted. There are lots of reported hauntings right here in the Carolinas. I grew up hearing many of these stories,” states Pablo. “It’s something I have always been curious about, so when I linked up with Tony Cadwell. We decided to collaborate and bring Haunted to life. It’s a project that is not just for entertainment. It’s a very educational and a positive experience. Of course, it’s also extremely entertaining.”

Lil Wayne Pens Eloquent Poem After Girlfriend Leaves Him Over Trump Support

A lot of people turned their backs on Lil Wayne when he came out to the public in support of the current president, Donald Trump.

Black people, rap fans, and apparently his girlfriend, Denise Bidot.

According to TMZ, Bidot deleted her Instagram the day of the election, Nov. 3. Right before she deactivated the account, the two both unfollowed each other.

Her last post said it all, “Sometimes love just isn’t enough.”

The Young Money CEO and Founder took to social media to share a poem with his fans about how passionate he is, leaving people to suggest he is sending abandonment subs to his ex.

“I live the way I love and love the way I live,” he starts. “I’m a lover not a lighter bekuz they burn out. I am an eternal fire and burning love, either leave with a tan, a 3rd degree burn, or stay and die in love. You’re sweating. Sincerely, the fireman.”

The Trump administration has been posting a shot of the POTUS and Lil Tunechi, signaling to Black men throughout the nation that he is the guy from them.

Ice Cube, Weezy, 50 Cent, Polow da Don and Lil Pump are not the only rappers to have been associated with The Don.

Trump has been mentioned in close to 300 songs. In many of these tunes, rappers equate success with his wealth.

However, there are some songs (particularly after he won the election) that call him out for his ways.

Check out these songs and sorry (not sorry) for you losing your girl:

Can we just agree that Public Enemy needs a new album like yesterday?

Safaree And Erica Mena Are A WRAP! He Says He’s Single!

Safaree has proclaimed his “bachelor” status on social media, peddling his single life to the Gram! I suppose this is the best way to do it, and cause a pretty petty splash a the same time. As you all should know, Erica Mena was Safaree’s wife for a minute. You also should know he was with Nicki Minaj for a long time too. Based on his finances in the IG pic, I am going to think he has some backend publishing from Nicki! He got money!
He wrote: “BACHELOR!! Ending 2020 right!!” in the caption!

On top of it all, he threw Divorce Court in the mix too. These people don’t get married for the love, they do it for the clout!  My guy is mad bold with it! I think he must have a pretty nice prenup! Bruh and his wife were just doing OnlyFans and making a lot of money! Why would they fall off into divorce at a time like this?

Who knows? We don’t know really! One thing is for sure, I am more apt to buy an OnlyFans with just Erica in it than her and him. Some have speculated that this is all a ploy for Safaree and his wiz to get on Divorce Court since he tagged the show. Not sure, but they are reality show stars so anything is possible.
