Jay-Z Confirmed For 2023 Grammys; Performing “God Did” With DJ Khaled & More

Jay-Z returns to the Grammys stage on Sunday (February 5).

The Roc Nation boss will join DJ Khaled, Rick Ross, John Legend and Fridayy to perform their song “God Did” at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards. The track appeared on DJ Khaled’s 2022 album of the same name.

Rumors about Jay-Z performing at the 2023 Grammys first emerged in January. The Grammys officially announced his performance with DJ Khaled, Rick Ross, John Legend and Fridayy on Friday (February 3).

DJ Khaled, Jay-Z and their collaborators are vying for a few awards at the 2023 Grammys. “God Did” is nominated for Song of the Year, Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song.

Jay-Z scored another Song of the Year nomination for his work on Beyoncé’s “Break My Soul.” Hov and several others received writing credits on the single from his wife’s Renaissance album. Beyoncé’s Renaissance contends for Album of the Year at Sunday’s ceremony.

The 2023 Grammys take place at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles. Comedian Trevor Noah, who left The Daily Show in December, hosts the event for a third straight year.

Viewers can watch the 65th Annual Grammy Awards live on CBS and Paramount Plus. The broadcast begins at 8 p.m. EST.

Doja Cat “Will Gladly Join In” On Social Media Spats

Doja Cat has opened up about her complicated relationship with online trolls.

While speaking to Variety, the “Woman” rapper discussed using her Internet presence to confront critics.

“It f###### sucks now that I can’t fully do my thing on Instagram Live,” she said of her followers. “Now I’m being flooded with people who have these preconceived f###### notions about me, and they come in and try to troll. Which I’m very good at handling.”

She continued, “A lot of people think I’m not good at handling trolls because I respond to them. But that’s the art of it: I love to go to f**king war with trolls.

“That’s just what I’ve grown up with; I’ve been on the Internet for 1,000 f**king years and it’s just part of me: that I need to respond. People think, ‘Oh, if you’re defending yourself, you’re weak.'”

Calling herself a “very messy b***h,” Doja summarized, “If somebody wants to fight me on the Internet… I will gladly join in, balls to the wall. It’s fun for me.”

In addition, Doja’s creative director Brett Alan Nelson spoke out against trolling.

“Everyone gave her s**t for not wearing eyelashes,” he commented. “The Internet’s horrible, and there’s a bunch of kids online that have their opinions that don’t need opinions.”

Lil Wayne Said His Mom Pushed Him To Have A Baby At 14!

Shout out to Lil Wayne. That man has been through a lot. And, the abuse and troubles he endured continues to unravel before us. Last night he was honored by the Black Music Collective. But people are really talking about a portion of his speech. He explained that his mom was so lonely in life that she urged him to have a baby as the young age of 14.

“When I came home she said ‘Son, I can’t live in this house by myself. We’re gonna have to figure something out.’ I’d like to thank Antonia Johnson,” the mother of Tunechi’s first daughter Reginae for reasoning with me and my mom, and my life. I’d like to thank every single one of my kids and every single one of their mothers.”

Lil Wayne is a very different person than many moons ago. He was in LA to get the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award from the Recording Academy’s Black Music Collective. Very cool.

Did China Just Come For Ice Spice?

Chika is a very talented artist. I think she’s a low-key genius that just has not fully materialized yet. Anyway, I appreciate her when she shows up in the musical form, but in other instances, it gets shaky. Last time I remember her, she was about to kill herself. I am wondering why she’s still on social when she could be doing music. Either way, here we go.

Recently, there was a post that seemed to be giving a regular shout out to Ice Spice. The post basically said “You don’t need media training if you are a nice person like Ice Spice.” That is completely wrong. But, here is how it apparently went down.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CoAVKkWpnba/

The comments were not nice.

One said: “How you mad cause people don’t wanna stream dat depression whoa is me ass music she can rap but all her music bout being a sad Black girl struggling with self esteem I love black women but don’t s### on another cause yo music not having the effect you feel it should.”

Another said: “She’s a certified hater! Always talking outta turn—even though sometimes she may have a point. Just don’t know where she really stands when she’s speaking though.”

Another said: “It was NEVER gonna be you CHIKA! Accept your failure and move on! Ugly tail self. Just ugly.”

I do not think she is ugly, but is seems like people are commenting on her attitude. I think she should stay in therapy and be healthy. Then, her outlook might change.

Latto Explains Keeping Her “Real Relationship” Private

There have been rumors circulating for months that Latto is dating another famous rapper. However, the “Big Energy” hitmaker has chosen to keep the identity of her partner under wraps.

Latto recently addressed her secrecy while appearing on Atlanta’s Hot 107.9 radio station. The interview included The Rap Game reality show winner explaining why her personal life is not for public consumption.

“I’m smooth with it,” said Latto when speaking on her ability to avoid talking about her relationship. “This is gonna sound so cliche, but it’s the truth. Everything about my life is to be picked apart by social media.”

She continued, “I gotta hear everybody’s two cents and opinions on something that don’t got nothing to do with them. I’m in a real relationship, not like PR stunts, so I just want to protect it. That’s all.”

Unconfirmed rumors suggested Latto is currently dating fellow Atlanta-bred rap star 21 Savage. Last month, 21 denied having a “celebrity girlfriend” during a discussion on the Clubhouse social networking app.

Latto and 21 Savage have worked together. Both southerners collaborated on the “Pull Up” and “Wheelie” tracks. Last year, Latto talked about her musical connection with the Grammy-winning I Am > I Was album creator.

“[21 Savage] is one of the male Atlanta artists running it, and then I’m the female running it, hands down,” stated Latto in March 2022. “I think it’s just that Atlanta chemistry. I’ve opened up for 21 way back in the day. I was probably 15, 16, or something like that.”

Latto has the chance to win her own Grammy Award on Sunday. The RCA Records signee scored two nominations – Best Melodic Rap Performance for “Big Energy (Live)” and Best New Artist. Plus, the Billboard Women In Music Awards will present Latto with the Powerhouse Award next month.

NLE Choppa Hopes To Inspire People With New “Champions” Single

Memphis-raised rapper NLE Choppa sees himself as an inspirational figure. The 20-year-old recording artist tapped into his motivating spirit for the new “Champions” song.

Released via NLE Entertainment/Warner Records, “Champions” will be featured on ESPN’s promotional content and programming. The record hits DSPs as NCAA college basketball heads into March Madness next month.

“This is one of my favorite songs that I’ve recorded,” says NLE Choppa about his latest offering. “I just feel like it just shows empowerment, determination, and motivation.”

The popular YouTube vlogger continues, “I feel like this song can speak volumes to us [with motivation], but really resonate with those who don’t know what life has for them.”

NLE Choppa’s “Champions” arrives as he prepares to drop the Cottonwood 2 project later this year. The original Cottonwood EP came out in 2019. One year ago, Choppa released the Me vs. Me mixtape which peaked at #14 on the Billboard 200 chart.

Me vs. Me hosts “Push It” featuring Young Thug, “Jumpin” featuring Polo G, “Chicago to Memphis” featuring G Herbo, and “Too Hot” featuring Moneybagg Yo. Choppa picked up Gold plaques for the Me vs. Me tracks “Jumpin” and “Final Warning.”

In addition, NLE Choppa has been on the frontlines of the protests in his hometown for Tyre Nichols, the 29-year-old Black motorist killed by five Memphis police officers. Choppa also announced plans to launch the #SkateForTyre Foundation.

J. Cole’s Dreamville Records To Executive Produce ‘Creed III’ Soundtrack

In fact, Dreamville/Interscope Records will oversee the Creed III soundtrack alongside Proximity Media, Outlier Society, and music producer Frank Brim. The full-length project will be released on March 3rd as well.

A new Creed III track titled “Ma Boy” featuring Dreamville’s J.I.D and Lute arrived this week. Pluss, Christo, Ben10k, and Bass Charity co-produced the track. Derek “MixedbyAli” Ali and Cyrus “NOIS” Taghipour mixed the song.

Grammy Award-winning Hip Hop artist J. Cole founded Dreamville Records with his longtime manager Ibrahim Hamad. Dreamville is the current label home of J.I.D, Lute, Ari Lennox, EarthGang, Bass, Cozz, and Omen.

In addition to releasing albums by individual acts on the roster, Dreamville also presented three installments of the Revenge of the Dreamers compilations. Revenge of the Dreamers III peaked at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart and earned a Platinum Award from the RIAA.

GloRilla Talks Clapping Back At Online Trolls

Gloria “GloRilla” Woods has only experienced celebrity life for less than a year. The Memphis native dropped her breakout hit “F.N.F. (Let’s Go)” last April, but since then she has become a Grammy-nominated artist.

This week, GloRilla is back with her new single “Internet Trolls.” Apple Music 1’s Eddie Francis spoke to the Yo Gotti protégé for New Music Daily Radio. Big Glo talked about dealing with online trolls since becoming famous.

“I was engaging at first. It wasn’t really getting to me, because I always had a strong mentality about it, but it did used to get to me a little bit and I did used to react and engage a lot,” admitted GloRilla. “Even though I still engage sometimes now, I still know I just be having fun and just be on the troll back with you sometimes.”

She added, “It didn’t take long though, because it came to me fast. I went viral super fast. I know for a month or two or probably three or maybe four months straight, I was all the internet was talking about, and so I had to get used to it and adjust to it. You got to. The clap backs be necessary sometimes.”

GloRilla’s “F.N.F. (Let’s Go)” earned a Best Rap Performance nomination at the upcoming 65th Annual Grammy Awards. The ceremony takes place this Sunday, February 5. “F.N.F. (Let’s Go)” is up against DJ Khaled’s “God Did,” Doja Cat’s “Vegas,” Gunna’s “Pushin P,” and Kendrick Lamar’s “The Heart Part 5.”

Following the success of “F.N.F. (Let’s Go)” with Hitkidd, GloRilla linked up with Hip Hop superstar Cardi B for the “Tomorrow 2” collaboration. That Top 10 hit on the Billboard Hot 100 chart is included on Glo’s Anyways, Life’s Great… EP.

Among the star-studded cast gracing the stage at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards are legends Missy Elliott and Busta Rhymes. Trailblazer LL Cool J will play both host and performer during the tribute. Legendary drummer Questlove is the segment’s producer and musical director and will provide the music alongside his band, The Roots. Fellow band member Black Thought will provide narration of the night.

Other performers on the stacked lineup include Big Boi, De La Soul, DJ Drama, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Future, GloRilla, Grandmaster Flash, Grandmaster Mele Mel & Scorpio/Ethiopian King, Ice-T, Lil Baby, Lil Wayne, The LOX, Method Man, Nelly, Public Enemy, Queen Latifah, Rahiem, Rakim, RUN-DMC, Salt-N-Pepa and Spinderella, Scarface, Swizz Beatz, and Too $hort.

“For five decades, Hip Hop has not only been a defining force in music, but a major influence on our culture,” Recording Academy CEO Harvey Mason Jr. relayed in a statement, as per Billboard. “Its contributions to art, fashion, sport, politics, and society cannot be overstated.

Earlier this week, the Recording Academy announced Mary J. Blige, Bad Bunny, and Lizzo are among the first round of performers at the 2023 Grammy Awards.

The Academy also revealed that Quavo will honor his late groupmate/nephew during the ceremony. He will be joined by The Maverick City Music choir to perform “Without You” in tribute to Takeoff. The Migos member released the single earlier this month (Jan. 4), his first since Takeoff was killed in November.

The 2023 Grammys will take place on Sunday, Feb. 5, at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

Latto Says “I Don’t Pay No Bills” Because Her Man Pays For Everything

While Latto has remained tight-lipped about the identity of her mystery man, she has shared hints about him and how he treats her.

Rumors have circulated that 21 Savage is the “Big Energy” rapper’s boyfriend. However, the “Knife talks” hitmaker denies having a celebrity girlfriend. One thing that Latto will reveal about her beau is that he showers her with gifts.

During a new appearance on Hot 107.9 Latto admitted that her unidentified man takes care of all of her bills.

“I got the ‘Vette, I got the Lambs, I got the Birkins,” Latto declared. “I don’t pay no bills. If he comin’ like that, then, yeah.”

When the host shared his surprise that “Big Latto” has all her finances taken care of, the Columbus, Ohio native doubled down. “I don’t pay no bills!” she repeated before adding, ”that’s how it’s supposed to be.”

Despite keeping his identity a secret, Latto has offered some insight into her relationship. Last March, she shared a sweet text message exchange with her man that left her “crying in the hookah bar.” He offered her support after the success of her 777 albums, telling the rapper, “Everything falling in place for you. Nobody can’t stop [you].”

Latto was quick to defend her man and clap back at a Twitter user who suggested she was getting the bare minimum.

“What’s bare minimum?” she replied. “The Lamborghini he bought? The pink corvette? The pink Richard Mill? 1 of my 20 birkins? Aint nun bare minimum bout my love life babe. Not to mention I GET THE D**K TO MYSELF,” she said.

SZA Celebrates Success Of ‘SOS’ After Spending 7 Weeks At No.1

SZA celebrated making chart history after her SOS album topped the charts for a seventh consecutive week.

The Top Dawg Entertainment artist also offered fans a glimpse behind the scenes of her new “Kill Bill” video, sharing a carousel of images and videos while celebrating her accolades in the caption.

“7 weeks at #1 is more than I ever imagined🥹 . I’m jus tryna do something worth something w my time in the sun . Thank you God . Thank you everyone 🤍🆘” wrote the Grammy award-winning songstress.

SZA also shared some tweets noting some SOS accomplishments. Check out her post below.

A post shared by SZA (@sza)

Earlier this week, as reported by AllHopHop.com, SZA’s SOS recorded a seventh consecutive week atop the Billboard 200. The last person to achieve the feat was Whitney Houston in 1987 with Whitney, which led the chart for 11 weeks in a row.

While the project cemented her place in music history books, SZA was surprised SOS was received so well.

“I never thought in a million years that people would like it,” SZA admitted during an interview with the Rolling Stone Music Now podcast last month. “My dad’s visiting right now, with my mom. Everybody came down to make sure I didn’t lose my mind if the album went bad once it came out. And now we’re just hanging out, ’cause it didn’t go badly!”

SZA later revealed that she hesitated to release her sophomore album and considered pushing it back.

“It happened probably just a few times, like maybe up until the last week, when I texted [my label] and was like, ‘We don’t have to put this out. We could just pull out and move it to January. We can just let this go.’ ”

However, ultimately, SZA was determined to release SOS, despite her reservations that fans might “hate” it.

“And then part of me was just like, I just wanna get it over with. I wanna meet my own fate. If n#### hate it, then great. I can never do music again,” she explained.

She concluded, “And that’s unhealthy. That’s something I need to talk to my therapist about.”

We’re going to do some incredible things in the city over the next few years, I promise you.”

Black History Month Police Car Upsets Everybody

This world is coming to an end and nothing can convince me otherwise. Miami is not a bad place to live, but it is a crazy place to live. The home of people like Nore, Rick Ross, Trick Daddy, Uncle Luke and Trina has had its share of stories to tell, but this one just about takes the whole cake.

Miami Mayor Ponzi Postalita Francis Suarez decided it was time to go viral today and disgust just about everybody. He decided on this day of our Lord to debut a Black History Month police car. Not only is this in the shadow of an egregious case of police brutality in Memphis, but it is overall wack. Blue Lives Matter and Black Lives Matter hates it. Furthermore, it has to be the absolute most tone deaf moment ever in American history.

Check this out.

What sort of mess is this? Is he trolling? Everything I have seen points this to a genuine effort that just flopped. This is what happens when you don’t have any friends, Black or Caucasian. Anything but systemic change, yo, I swear.

What do you think?

Police Find Bodies Of Michigan Rappers Who Went Missing After Canceled Show In Detroit

Authorities discovered the bodies of three missing rappers in Michigan.

Armani Kelly, Montoya Givens and Dante Wicker went missing after their show at Detroit’s Lounge 31 got canceled on January 21. They were found dead on Thursday afternoon (February 2).

According to multiple reports, police found the Michigan rappers’ bodies at an apartment building in Highland Park near Detroit. Givens’ mother Cat Fogle told the Detroit News she learned about their discovery around 4:30 p.m.

“They told me they found the three bodies,” Fogle said. “I don’t know what I’m going to do; how I’m going to bury him.”

Kelly picked up Givens and Wicker for their Lounge 31 gig, which was canceled due to equipment issues. Kelly informed his fiancée Taylor Perrin about plans to find an open mic event following the cancellation.

None of the rappers’ families heard from them since January 21. They were reported missing, leading to search by several police departments in Michigan.

A teenager was arrested for driving a vehicle associated with one of the missing rappers on January 28. The 15-year-old suspect was charged with possessing a stolen vehicle and burglary tools.

A source told the Detroit News that police questioned a person of interest in the missing rappers case on Wednesday (February 1). The source didn’t reveal if the questioning resulted in the discovery of the bodies.

Aerosmith Frontman Formally Accused Of Child Sex Abuse

We all knew it was going on but this isn’t a rumor. Remember when Rap was in its commercial infancy? Run DMC knocked down walls and shattered ceilings by using rock music to entice MTV into playing their music. It worked. The effort crescendoed with “Walk This Way,” a collaboration with Aerosmith. At the time, Aerosmith wasn’t piping hot at all. Run DMC brought them back to life and Steven Tyler, the lead singer, had a career again.

Well, back in his crazier days, he was a sexual predator, some allege, and a new lawsuit looks for damages. Here is the crazy thing: they are both senior citizens now. The alleged victim is 65 and Tyler is 74-years-old! If he had waited until now, they would be a perfect match. That didn’t happen according to reports all over the place. He reportedly groomed her in all ways when she was only 16. She also alleges in a new civil suit that he coerced her into an abortion at 25.

Want to know what’s even crazier? They are using his own memoir to confirm that she was a teenager. This dude literally put it in his own life story! Entertainment Weekly broke the story, where Julia Misley accuses the rock-n-roll legend of successfully using his status to “groom, manipulate, exploit and sexually assault.” Moreover, she says he gave her mad drugs, b. But in the writings, he says they were in a “romantic, loving relationship.” Moving on…

By the way, this is how Tyler describes their tryst in 1973.

“She was sixteen, she knew how to nasty, and there wasn’t a hair on it.”

“I went and slept at her parents’ house for a couple of nights and her parents fell in love with me, signed papers over for me to have custody, so I wouldn’t get arrested if I took her out of state. I took her on tour with me.”

BOLD.

She wants her coins.

I think she will get them too. She charges that the book re-traumatized her. I hope she beat up her parents as well, because they were way out of pocket. And when I say “out of pocket,” I mean horrible humans.

Dude been on perv time for a minute – allegedly.

NBA YoungBoy To Become A Mormon!?

NBA Youngboy may be changing even more than we ever imagined.

The rapper, who escaped the clutches of the feds, has reportedly opted to be a peaceful Mormon instead of a gangster. I definitely did not have this in my 2023 bingo card. And yet, here we are.

According to Billboard, the Louisiana-born rapper has some regrets for the killer content of his past work. On top of that he’s cleaning things up and converting to Mormonism. Do you believe this? I am not sure. In a way, I hope so.

“YoungBoy says it troubles him to know fans, kids included, might have heard his music and been influenced to harm other people … and he holds himself accountable,” TMZ reports.

He seems very serious.

First of all, he got married to his BM and settled down. All of this is set to the backdrop of being on house arrest in Utah. So, he’s reportedly gotten very friendly with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. From there, he’s going to get baptized and carry on a Puritan life…once he gets freed up.

I don’t think he’s faking, but a rebrand wouldn’t hurt him either.

Young Thug Update: Sheriff Says 3 YSL Co-Defendants Stabbed Inmate In Jail

Three of Young Thug’s YSL co-defendants are accused of stabbing a fellow inmate at the Fulton County Jail in Georgia.

Fulton County Sheriff Pat Labat identified Christian Eppinger, Damone Blalock and Rodalius Ryan as the alleged culprits, per WSB-TV. The three men await trial in the RICO case against Young Thug and other YSL members.

Authorities didn’t disclose the condition of the stabbing victim. Officials didn’t share any details about the date of the attack or a possible motive.

Ryan’s lawyer Angela D’Williams denied her client’s involvement in the stabbing.

“Mr. Ryan is hopeful that there is a thorough investigation and that there is not a rush to judgment,” D’Williams told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “Mr. Ryan maintains his innocence regarding this incident.”

Last month, D’Williams filed a formal complaint accusing a deputy of using excessive force on her client. Fulton County Deputy Morris Kandakai allegedly punched Ryan in the head while trying to transport the inmate to court.

Kandakai claimed Ryan spat in the deputy’s face. Kandakai was placed on administrative duties pending an internal affairs investigation.

Young Thug and his co-defendants continue to wait for a jury to be seated in their RICO trial. Ryan and Blalock are already serving life sentences for murder.

Doja Cat Enjoys Her Online Fights With Trolls; Acknowledges She’s “Messy”

Doja Cat is more than willing to clash with internet trolls despite her fame.

The RCA Records artist talked about her online behavior in an interview with Variety. Doja Cat wished she faced less scrutiny but admitted she loves to fire back at her social media critics.

“It f###### sucks now that I can’t fully do my thing on Instagram Live,” Doja Cat said. “Now I’m being flooded with people who have these preconceived f###### notions about me. And they come in and try to troll, which I’m very good at handling.”

She continued, “A lot of people think I’m not good at handling trolls because I respond to them. But that’s the art of it: I love to go to f###### war with trolls. That’s just what I’ve grown up with; I’ve been on the internet for 1,000 f###### years and it’s just part of me: that I need to respond. People think, ‘Oh, if you’re defending yourself, you’re weak.’ But I always rest on ‘Everyone can suck my dick from the back.’”

Doja Cat refused to completely ignore her trolls. She remained eager to engage in online confrontations.

“If somebody wants to fight me on the internet, I will gladly join in, balls to the wall,” she said. “It’s fun for me. I’m a very messy b####.”

Doja Cat plans to release a new album later this year. She is scheduled to attend the 2023 Grammy Awards on Sunday (February 5).
