Texas parents make $400 deposit for kid’s birthday party. Then the ice storm hits—and the venue refuses to honor it

A Plano, Texas, mom is warning other parents after her daughter’s second birthday plans collided with a historic ice storm, and the venue refused to refund her deposit.

On Jan. 23, @aavaforpresident posted a video with over 100,000 views as of this writing. She stated that the party was scheduled for Jan. 25, booked months in advance. However, local forecasts warned of one of the most dangerous storms in recent Texas history. 

“I’m making this video in hopes of saving other Plano moms the headache of dealing with Play Street Museum,” she explained.

Why Is the Mother Asking for a Refund of the $400 Deposit?

“The governor of Texas has declared a state of emergency,” the mother said. She noted that the city of Plano advised residents to stay home unless travel was necessary. Vendors, including balloon artists, bakers, decorators, and caterers, all canceled and issued full refunds due to the weather. “Everyone except the birthday venue,” she said.

The mother claims that Play Street Museum insisted on remaining open despite extreme temperatures expected to drop to 14 degrees Fahrenheit. It has refused to refund the family’s $400 deposit, which was marked as non-refundable on a simple checkbox.

“When there’s an act of God, a literal weather emergency that will endanger your life to go to the party you booked, it should absolutely be refundable,” the mother said.

She claims that the venue offered rescheduled dates months away, but that none coincided with her daughter’s actual birthday.

“Rescheduling a service is not the equivalent of what we booked,” she said. “We booked a birthday party on my daughter’s birthday for a very specific time that they’re not able to offer.”

She urged parents to prioritize safety and work with venues that act in good faith.

“It baffles my mind that Play Street Museum is willing to risk their own lives, their employees’ lives, to travel on Sunday, and they’re expecting us to do the same thing,” she said. 

“We will be pursuing further action against them,” she adds.

Legally, whether Play Street Museum can keep the $400 deposit depends largely on what the contract says and Texas contract law. In Texas, businesses can include non‑refundable deposits. Still, any restriction on refunds must be clearly and conspicuously disclosed for certain types of reservations, like recreational activities. The disclosure must typically be in at least 10‑point type. 

If that’s missing or unclear, the clause may not hold up. However, simply labeling a deposit non‑refundable doesn’t automatically give the venue the right to keep it if the event can’t reasonably be held. 

The concept of force majeure, meaning acts of God or extreme weather, can excuse performance of a contract. That said, such clauses must be explicitly included to apply, and Texas courts interpret them narrowly. 

Without a clear force majeure clause or specific weather cancellation language, the family may have grounds to demand a refund or pursue the deposit in small claims court. This is especially true if the venue is unable to deliver the promised event and hasn’t performed its core obligation.

The Australian architect finally broke her silence and admitted she and Ye started their relationship while he was still married to Kim Kardashian. Censori explained how their romance began at work.

Censori’s admission explains a lot about their quick marriage. The couple tied the knot in December 2022, just months after Kim’s divorce was finalized.

Their relationship moved fast because it had been building for years. The architect described her attachment style as intense.

“I pair-bond so intensely and so deeply that that person becomes part of me,” she said. This explains how she could fall for a married man and stick with him through all his controversies.

Ye’s pattern with women is clear. He moved from Amber Rose to Kim, then from Kim to Bianca. Each transition happened while he was still involved with the previous woman.

‌Floyd Mayweather can’t seem to escape legal trouble these days. The retired boxer just got hit with another lawsuit, showing his finances aren’t as solid as the cash stacks he loves posting on Instagram.

Mayweather’s landlords are suing him for over $330,000 in unpaid rent on his luxury Manhattan penthouse. Miami-based entrepreneurs Leila and David Centner want their money for the five-bedroom duplex at the Baccarat Hotel and Residences.

Floyd Mayweather signed his lease in December 2024 but stopped paying the $100,000 monthly rent in July 2025. But he kept posting photos of himself on private jets surrounded by cash.

Realtor Rena Kliot told reporters those social media posts really ticked off the owners. She’s now relisting the 4,200-square-foot apartment for $22 million to $24 million.

The penthouse spans the 18th and 19th floors on West 53rd Street. It comes with an eat-in chef’s kitchen and 3,100 square feet of outdoor space.

But Mayweather’s money troubles go way deeper than unpaid rent. He filed a massive $340 million lawsuit against Showtime Networks earlier this week.

The boxer claims the company helped his former manager, Al Haymon, steal hundreds of millions from his fight earnings.

According to court documents, Haymon funneled fight revenues into secret accounts that Mayweather couldn’t access. The scheme allegedly went on for years through “financial manipulation and self-dealing.”

Mayweather made over $1.2 billion during his boxing career. He got $100 million guaranteed purses for his fights with Conor McGregor and Manny Pacquiao. But banking records show large transfers to companies allegedly controlled by Haymon, falsely labeled “repayment” or “loan payoff.”

He was once considered the world’s wealthiest boxer and the 10th-wealthiest athlete of all time. But his financial problems have been piling up.

Business Insider reports he took out millions in mortgages on his homes in 2024. He also faced lawsuits and liens over a Mercedes-Maybach G-Wagon, jet fuel, watches, jewelry, and garbage collection at his Las Vegas mansion.

Mayweather even had to sell his Gulfstream jet “Air Mayweather” in December. He also sold his mansions in Beverly Hills and Miami. Back in 2017, he had to pay $22 million in back taxes to the IRS.

A woman’s viral TikTok about her first trip to Las Vegas’ Sphere is serving as a PSA for anyone with a fear of heights.

On Jan. 15, Samantha Rothe (@samanthaarothe) posted a TikTok with over 470,000 views as of this writing, describing how the Las Vegas Sphere triggered her fear of heights. 

“When I tell you that was one of the scariest things I have ever done in my life,” she said. 

What Made Rothe’s Trip to the Las Vegas Sphere So Terrifying?

Rothe explains that she willingly bought tickets in the upper sections. She assumed it “wouldn’t be that bad,” especially since it was her first time in Vegas and her first time seeing the Sphere in person. 

However, her fear of heights kicked in while she was making her way to her seat in section 418. The journey required riding four long escalators straight up. She explains that there was even a voice over the intercom explaining that there was an elevator for individuals scared of the final escalator.

“So they know,” she says. “They know it’s bad.”

Rothe explains that her panic set in once she got to her seat. She describes the upper rows as being aggressively steep, forcing attendees to carefully descend narrow steps before settling in and sitting there, suspended at what feels like an alarming angle.

Rothe said that for the nearly 40-minute show, she couldn’t relax. She said she gripped her friend’s seat so hard she snapped a Gel-X nail.

“I was scared I was going to tumble down all these people,” she says. 

Despite the experience, Rothe says she would go back if she could sit in a lower section.

“You are not gonna catch me back up there,” she says. “I choose the ground where we belong.”

Is This a Common Experience for Guests at the Las Vegas Sphere?

Many of the commenters echo Rothe’s sentiment about their fear of heights at the Sphere.

“I had to just look down at my feet on the sphere escalators going up to the seats because they were so high up,” wrote one commenter. 

“My bf & I went to see a NFL game and girl we couldn’t have found a seat closer to god, I threw up as soon as we sat cuz what you mean we are IN THE SKY?????” added another. 

Many guests in online forums report similar reactions, especially in the highest sections. One Redditor described sitting in a 400-level seat and having a panic attack so intense that they left early.

There are safety concerns regarding the Sphere’s steep stairs and high seating discussed in legal and fan spaces. Personal injury lawyers note that steep stairways and insufficient railings are common hazards at large venues like the Sphere. They add that this can lead to slips and falls, which can cause serious injuries such as broken bones. 

Additionally, Reddit threads detail attendees who fell down multiple rows of seats or were escorted out after missteps on stairways. These community reports don’t establish a formal safety investigation, but they do highlight that the combination of height, tight aisles, and steep access routes can pose real risks for some guests, especially in dim lighting or crowded conditions.

‘If the cook comes out the back it’s about to be on’: San Antonio man goes to Jim’s. Then he gets ‘dinner and a show’

A San Antonio Jim’s restaurant turns into a full-blown spectacle when the cooks leave the kitchen to de-escalate and ultimately remove a couple of unruly patrons. Here’s what went down.

TikTok creator JustHereLaughing (@justlaughing13) posted footage of the incident on Jan. 21. The video shows a man dressed in shorts and a T-shirt with a large pack strapped to his back. He is clearly in the process of verbally assaulting either a staff member or another patron.

JustHereLaughing identifies the restaurant as Jim’s at Loop 410 and Broadway in San Antonio. “Got dinner and a show,” they wrote in the caption.

What Happened At This San Antonio Jim’s Restaurant?

The entire exchange lasts four and a half minutes. It involves a lot of cursing and posturing by the customer. About 30 seconds in, viewers can see several cooks from the back exiting the kitchen to de-escalate the situation.

About half a dozen Jim’s employees and customers eventually ushered out the man and his companion, another man in a black hoodie. The duo continues causing a scene until they are eventually chased off the property by the Jim’s defense crew.

After a couple of minutes of screaming profanity, the two men eventually crossed the 410 access road, leaving the restaurant patrons finally in peace.

Viewers React to the Jim’s Restaurant Incident

In the comments section of the video, viewers weighed in on the behavior of everyone involved.

“So glad to see men stepping up and helping and not just standing and filming while the guy tears up the place,” wrote one viewer. 

A second person said, “If the cook comes out of the back, it’s about to be on. It’s the only fun thing about being a cook in a restaurant.”

“When people wear a backpack into a restaurant, 96% of the time there’s going to be a problem in some way,” said a third person. 

Someone else said, “Here’s the thing and I know a lot of people won’t like it, but San Antonio is very diverse and inclusive and we have gotten a lot of people from other cities. Unfortunately, it makes for problems and this has been happening for the last 20 years.”

Another person invoked the popular San Antonio-themed freestyle that people now commonly set to videos of chaos ensuing in the Alamo City. 

Several people in the comments section also mentioned that Jim’s location is one of the best and most convenient in the city. Others mentioned the Jim’s on Hildebrand and San Pedro as well as Culebra and 1604.

Jim’s In The News

Other locations are in the news for less flattering reasons. In 2024, a man walked into Jim’s Restaurant at Loop 410 and Perrin Beitel Road after someone stabbed him at a nearby bus stop. He later passed from those injuries. The same Jim’s location, which is minutes away from the one in the TikTok video, was also in the news last year due to an early morning fire that originated in the kitchen.

J. Cole Opens Up About Older Moments Everything Finally Made Sense

J. Cole is positioning his upcoming album not as a celebration of dominance but as a meditation on time, ambition and the meaning of coming home.

In a reflective statement shared ahead of the release of The Fall-Off, Cole explained that the project is intentionally designed to mirror the origins of his career, reaching back to verses he began writing as a teenager. “Some of the very first verses for The Come Up were written when I was just 19 years old,” he wrote, framing the album as a conceptual bookend to his debut mixtape.

Cole said the title The Come Up carried a layered meaning from the start. “There was the obvious one; my ambitions to ‘come up’ in the rap game,” he wrote. “The second was more subtle; my physical change of location to do so.” At the time, he described himself as “a delusional teenager from Fayetteville, North Carolina who had decided to leave home and ‘come up’ to New York City on a dream-chasing mission.”

Looking back, Cole said listeners can still hear that hunger embedded in the music. “When you listen to that project you hear a college kid with a real sharp pen, telling the world how he’s going to make it and proudly put his unknown city on the map in the process,” he wrote.

He also revisited the skits that closed out The Come Up, describing them as snapshots of his real life at the time. “Me, driving back home from school on a holiday break, calling my mom to let her know I’m a few hours away, then calling my homeboys, excited to let them know I’m back in town, asking where the party at?” he recalled.

That cycle of leaving and returning became the foundation for The Fall-Off, which Cole described as “a double album made with intentions to be my last.” The project is split into two conceptual chapters, each centered on a different homecoming.

“Disc 29 tells a story of me returning to my hometown at age 29,” he explained. At that moment, a decade removed from his move to New York, he found himself at a personal crossroads. “I was at a crossroads with the 3 loves of my life; my woman, my craft, and my city,” Cole wrote.

The second chapter reflects a later stage of life. “Disc 39 gives insight into my mindset during a similar trip home, this time as a 39 year old man,” he said, describing himself as “older and a little closer to peace.”

Cole also revealed that the album’s visuals are deeply autobiographical. “All pictures in this version of the album were shot by me,” he wrote. The front and back covers were photographs he took at age 15, while the back cover featuring the tracklist shows the walls of his childhood bedroom. “I woke up every morning as a teenager quite literally looking up to yall,” he added, thanking the artists and photographers who cleared their work. “When this album releases please know that you, in some deeper metaphysical type way, are in the music too.”

Too Short stepped onto the NFL Honors red carpet in San Francisco and immediately set the record straight about his place in Bay Area Hip-Hop history.

The Oakland legend appeared at Thursday night’s ceremony at the Palace of Fine Arts. NBC Bay Area’s Raj Mathai caught up with the rapper during the star-studded event.

Mathai called Too Short “the best rapper in the Bay Area.” The Hip-Hop pioneer quickly shut that down.

“Oh man, don’t give me that and put me on the news. Best rapper in the Bay. We got a lot of controversy going right now like who’s top 10, top five, top,” Too Short said. “You know what? Don’t call me the best rapper. Just call me the um most accomplished.”

The rapper explained why he prefers that title over being called the best. Too Short has been grinding since the 1980s and helped put West Coast Hip-Hop on the map.

He became one of the first West Coast artists to gain national recognition. Too Short’s influence helped establish the Bay Area as a major Hip-Hop region alongside Los Angeles and New York.

The rapper has released over 20 studio albums throughout his career. His 1988 album Life Is…Too Short went double platinum and featured the hit single “Life Is…Too Short.”

Mathai asked whether Too Short enjoys red-carpet events like NFL Honors. The veteran artist kept it 100 about the reality behind the glamour.

“I like doing it to a certain extent. It seems to be glamorous and stuff, but it’s really hard work, man. It just stop the lights, the heat, you’re trying to look cool, got your accessories, you’re sweating,” Too Short explained.

The conversation turned to football when Mathai asked about Too Short’s favorite NFL player. The rapper didn’t hesitate with his answer.

“NFL player right now, Shadur, man,” Too Short said, referring to Colorado quarterback Shadeur Sanders.

Too Short wasn’t just attending NFL Honors as a guest. He and fellow Bay Area legend E-40 performed during the ceremony. The two rappers brought authentic Bay Area Hip-Hop flavor to the national stage.

The NFL chose the perfect artists to represent the region. Both Too Short and E-40 have deep Oakland roots and decades of influence in Hip-Hop culture.

NFL Honors took place just days before Super Bowl LX at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara. The ceremony honored the league’s top players and coaches from the 2025-2026 season.

Jon Hamm hosted the event with celebrity presenters including Seth Rollins, Tracy Morgan and Tiffany Haddish.

DaBaby sat down with The Breakfast Club to discuss his four-year absence from music and the personal journey that led to his comeback album, Be More Grateful.

The Charlotte rapper got real about why he stepped away from the spotlight after reaching the peak of his career. His honesty cut through the usual celebrity talk.

DaBaby explained that his break wasn’t planned. He lost track of time while dealing with personal issues that started long before his career took off.

“I’m really not only in a season of gratitude, but, I guess it took me to be in a season of accountability prior to that,” he said. “That’s kind of like more so where I was last time I came to see y’all.”

The rapper faced a perfect storm of tragedy during his biggest career moments. When “Suge” hit number one, he got the call that his father died.

He named his second album Kirk in honor of his dad, watching it go number one while processing grief.

“Then I go with ‘Rockstar’ in the heat of covid number one record, Billboard, Hot 100, number one for like eight weeks straight, but I can’t move around and keep myself busy.” DaBaby recalled. “But this is as high as you can go as an artist. I got the top streaming song in the world. My brother committed suicide.”

The timing couldn’t have been worse. Just as the world reopened from COVID-19 lockdowns, DaBaby faced cancel culture backlash over homophobic comments he made at Rolling Loud Miami in 2021.

“You got the whole cancel culture It ain’t never been a a season for me, you know. It took Yeah. It took that whole four years,” he said.

DaBaby admitted he didn’t realize how much time had passed until he prepared to release new music. The gap between projects hit him hard.

“I didn’t even realize it was four years since I dropped the album until I really put it out and seen the date on this one and the date and I say, ‘Damn, four years.’ Like that’s crazy,” he said.

His fans never let him settle for less during his time away. They kept pushing him to return to form rather than play small.

The break forced him to rediscover his passion for music. He needed to find his heart again before he could create authentically.

“I had to find my love for this again and you know and and figure it out. Like when I do something, I like to do it. I like to put my heart into it. And I just wasn’t in a space, you know,” he explained.

DaBaby’s new album, Be More Grateful, dropped January 30, 2026, marking his first full project since 2022.

The rapper also launched DaBaby Cares, a nonprofit initiative focused on mental health awareness. He started the program during Suicide Prevention Month in 2024 to honor his late brother, Glenn Johnson.

DaBaby’s return comes with a different mindset about entitlement and expectations. He’s not looking for easy treatment from the culture or the music business.

“I don’t really feel entitled for nobody to take it easy on me. The culture, the business, none of that. When you do fall into that sense of entitlement, you ain’t doing nothing but distracting yourself from what it is you’re supposed to do,” he said.

Lil Jon‘s son, Nathan Smith, was found dead Friday in a Georgia pond after the 27-year-old musician, who went by DJ Young Slade, had been missing for three days.

Milton cops pulled Smith’s body from a pond at Mayfield Park around noon. Cherokee County Fire Department divers helped with the recovery.

Smith ran from his Milton home barefoot on Tuesday morning around 6 A.M. His family called the cops when he didn’t come back. Police said he left his phone behind and might have been disoriented.

The crunk legend released a statement about his son’s death.

“I am extremely heartbroken for the tragic loss of our son, Nathan Smith,” Lil Jon said. “His mother, Nicole Smith, and I are devastated.”

He called Nathan the kindest person you’d ever meet.

“He was immensely caring, thoughtful, polite, passionate, and warmhearted,” the rapper said. “He loved his family and the friends in his life to the fullest.”

Nathan graduated from NYU and worked as a music producer and engineer. He was trying to follow his dad’s path in Hip-Hop. Last year, he talked about learning from Lil Jon to “keep going” and “work hard” at music.

“We loved Nathan with all of our hearts and are incredibly proud of him. He was loved and appreciated, and in our last times together we’re comforted in knowing that we expressed that very sentiment to him,” Lil Jon said.

Milton Police said there’s no sign of foul play. But they’re keeping the case open while they investigate. The department asked people to respect the family’s privacy.

The Fulton County Medical Examiner will determine the official cause of death.

DMX’s Ex-Wife Tashera Simmons Reveals His Final Words

Tashera Simmons sat in a movie theater watching King Kong when her phone started buzzing. The call would change everything for the ex-wife of DMX and their four children.

“Earl’s on the floor,” the voice on the other end told her. Styles P’s wife was calling with news that would shatter the Simmons family. A detective cousin had found the rapper unresponsive at his White Plains home on April 2, 2021.

Tashera jumped up and ran into the theater hallway. Her heart dropped into her stomach as she processed the words.

“What? Are you sure that’s him?” she asked, hoping for different news.

The family rushed to White Plains Hospital, where crowds of people had already gathered. DMX’s uncle delivered the devastating update that doctors had worked on Earl for 30 minutes before getting his heart started again.

But the damage was done.

“They said that he’s brain dead and he was just there too long,” Tashera recalled in the new documentary series X vs. Earl: The Simmons Family Speaks.

The first episode dropped on February 5 on Antoinette Media’s YouTube channel.

Xavier, Sean, Tacoma, and Praise Simmons stood like soldiers beside their mother in the hospital waiting room. The children had lived through multiple scares with their father’s drug addiction over the years.

“I didn’t think it was going to be the end because in middle school, it was another death scare,” Xavier said. “I was like again like ‘you still doing this? We are we still having these scares?”

Tashera felt anger more than sadness as she watched people cry around her.

“I looked at all the people that were there crying and I was just like, ‘What the f### did y’all expect? Y’all watch this man kill himself every day?'” she said.

The ex-wife had known the rapper for 10 years before he became DMX. She watched his rise to fame and the beginning of his fall. Their last conversation six days before his death still weighs heavily on her mind.

“I was trying to talk to him about being a better father,” Tashera explained.

DMX took a deep breath and sipped from his bottle of henny before responding. “It’s not going to make sense to you, Tashera. My vessel is tired, but my words will live on forever.”

Those words now feel prophetic to the family. The documentary series aims to show the real Earl Simmons behind the DMX persona that the world knew.

The family believes the industry failed DMX by treating him as a money tool instead of getting him help for his addiction. Tashera thinks she may have been an enabler in her own way by trying to comfort him without realizing the harm.

“When you love someone and you don’t know what to do you know you try your best to try to comfort them and not realizing that it’s enabling them,” she said.

The Westchester County Medical Examiner ruled DMX’s death was caused by acute cocaine intoxication that triggered cardiac arrest. He was 50 years old when he passed at White Plains Hospital on April 9, 2021.

Comedian Druski turned what should have been a celebration into controversy Thursday night at the NFL Honors ceremony.

The social media personality was tasked with presenting the Offensive Player of the Year award to Seattle Seahawks receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba. But his multiple attempts at pronouncing the player’s name included using a racial slur on live television. Druski initially got the pronunciation correct.

Then he offered several variations, including one that contained the N-word. He ended the segment by simply saying “JSN” before leaving the stage.

The White House defended Donald Trump‘s racist Truth Social post Thursday night. The post showed Barack Obama and Michelle Obama as apes.

Donald Trump shared a two-second clip at 11:44 P.M. The video came from an AI-generated meme account. It showed the former president and first lady as primates.

White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt called the backlash “fake outrage” on Friday morning. She said the clip was part of a larger video showing Trump as a lion.

“This is from an internet meme video depicting President Trump as the King of the Jungle and Democrats as characters from The Lion King,” Leavitt said. “Please stop the fake outrage and report on something today that actually matters to the American public.”

The original video was created by a meme account @xerias_x in October 2025. It featured various Democrats as animals set to “The Lion Sleeps Tonight.”

But Donald Trump only shared the snippet showing the Obamas.

Leavitt refused to say if Trump would remove the post or apologize. The racist clip remained on Truth Social Friday morning.

Even Trump’s Black buddy Senator Tim Scott called it “the most racist thing I’ve seen out of this White House.” The South Carolina Republican said Trump should delete the post.

Democrats blasted the post across social media. Rep. Herb Conaway called it “disgusting behavior” by the president. The imagery uses centuries-old racist tropes against Black Americans. These depictions were used to justify slavery and Jim Crow laws.

To make it worse, Donald Trump posted the clip during the first week of Black History Month, and it’s not a coincidence either. He has a long history of racist attacks on the Obama family.

The president led the “birther” conspiracy movement against Obama. He falsely claimed Obama was born in Kenya and had a forged birth certificate.

Trump has made other racist comments as president. He said immigrants were “poisoning the blood” of America. He called Somali immigrants “garbage.”

The racist post drew widespread condemnation from civil rights groups. Many called it the most openly racist act by a sitting president in decades.

Nathan Smith ran out of his Milton home Tuesday morning and never came back. Now cops are using bloodhounds to the missing son of rapper Lil Jon.

The 27-year-old, who goes by DJ Young Slade professionally, left his house on Baldwin Drive around 6 A.M. without his phone or personal belongings.

Police say he may be disoriented and needs help.

Milton cops deployed K-9 units Thursday to search Mayfield Park and nearby waters. They brought in a specialized bloodhound from the Haralson County Sheriff’s Office that completed 25 successful searches last year.

Smith stands 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighs about 150 pounds. He has short black hair, brown eyes, and a lip tattoo on his right collarbone.

The search concentrated on the five-acre park area where law enforcement believes Smith might have gone. Officers also checked retention ponds and other bodies of water in the neighborhood.

“He may be disoriented and in need of assistance,” Milton Police said in their missing persons report. “Family and friends are concerned for his safety.”

Police warned residents about increased law enforcement activity on their Facebook page.

“There is enhanced law enforcement activity — including Milton Police as well as partners and resources from other agencies — on Thursday and potentially into Friday in and around Mayfield Park near downtown Milton,” they wrote.

The Grammy winner’s family asked for privacy during the search. A representative told CBS News Atlanta that Lil Jon’s family is “asking for privacy” and “continued prayers for Nathan to come home safe.”

Police haven’t released details about what caused Smith to leave his home. They’re focusing all resources on finding him safely and getting him any help he might need.

The bloodhound team represents the latest escalation in search efforts. These specialized dogs can track scents for miles and have proven successful in similar cases across Georgia.

Still, there’s hope. A newly leaked record suggests Drake may actually be back in his lyrical bag. What’s funny is how this leak is traveling. Of course, it’s DJ Akademiks pushing it, followed immediately by the glazing…I had to stop after the few bars they offered. Love it or hate it, this is how Hip-Hop news moves in 2026.

The reaction to the leak is all over the place. Some fans love it. Others think he’s complaining too much. A third group is simply tired of waiting. Personally, I’m indifferent. I just want the music. I don’t need Drake leaning into a victim narrative or acting like his life is in shambles. We all know that’s not the case. He’s rich! Process the L and keep it moving. Easy for me to say. I did not fall from the very top of a mountain.

Wait there’s more.

Then there’s the other rumor floating around. A possible J. Cole diss record or lyrics towards him. Once upon a time, Drake and J. Second Suspect Busted For Killing NBA YoungBoy Collaborator Billy Resio

Durham cops arrested a second person for killing rapper Billy Resio in a drive-by shooting.

Tony Lamont Scott II was busted on Tuesday on murder charges. The 25-year-old faces the same charges as Aryahna Kiara Mangum, who was arrested last month. Both suspects are charged with murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, and two counts of felony conspiracy.

Court records show they planned the attack together.

Billy Resio was driving his 2024 Chevrolet Malibu on January 4 when the shooters pulled up. They fired multiple shots into his car with a 9mm handgun. The Durham rapper died from a gunshot wound to the neck. A woman riding with him got shot in the head but survived the attack.

Mangum was arrested on January 22 and remains in jail without bail. Scott made his first court appearance on Thursday.

Billy Resio had just signed with Rich Nation Entertainment and dropped a collaboration with NBA YoungBoy called “Labeled Me Top Shotta.” The track was getting radio play and streaming numbers before his death.

“He was just a natural, like he was born to do it,” Rich Nation CEO Michael Mitchell told WRAL News. “Wish I could have saved him because we had talked about him moving out of Durham and coming down here to Miami.”

Billy Resio was 30 years old when he died.

Donald Trump called Nicki Minaj “fantastic” and praised the Queens rapper as a “terrific person.”

“Nicki Minaj is fantastic. She’s a terrific person,” Trump told Fox News Digital. “She was so nice, and she understands, you know, what we’re doing with the Trump accounts.”

Trump explained how Nicki Minaj gets the program that helps kids build wealth.

“We’re helping children grow up where they’re 18 years old. They’re going to have a lot of money. They’re gonna be rich. And she got it,” President Trump said.

The president called Minaj a supporter from day one.

“She’s been a supporter from the beginning. And I think Nicki Minaj is a winner. Fantastic.”

Nicki Minaj appeared at Trump’s Treasury Department event just days before the premiere. She declared herself the president’s “number one fan” during the Trump Accounts launch.

“Well, I don’t know what to say, but I will say that I am probably the president’s number one fan,” Minaj said at the Treasury event. “And that’s not going to change.”

The rapper said criticism won’t stop her from supporting Trump.

Nike Under Investigation for Discrimination – Against White People

The feds are coming for Nike’s diversity programs. The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission filed court papers Wednesday demanding the sportswear giant hand over records about alleged discrimination against white workers.

EEOC Chair Andrea Lucas launched the investigation herself last year.

She claims Nike’s diversity goals might violate federal law by creating bias against white employees in hiring and promotions. The agency wants Nike’s layoff criteria from 2018 forward.

They’re also demanding details about 16 programs that allegedly gave race-restricted mentoring and leadership opportunities to workers.

“Title VII’s prohibition of race-based employment discrimination is colorblind,” Lucas said in a statement. “The EEOC will take all necessary steps to ensure the opportunity to fully investigate.”

Nike pushed back hard against the federal demands. The company called the subpoena enforcement action “a surprising and unusual escalation” in court filings.

“We have shared thousands of pages of information and detailed written responses,” Nike said in a statement. “We are in the process of providing additional information.”

Nike’s legal team previously called the subpoena “overbroad, unduly burdensome, vague, ambiguous, and disproportionate.” The company has been fighting the federal requests for months.

The investigation stems from Nike’s public diversity commitments after George Floyd’s death in 2020. The company set goals to reach 35% representation of racial minorities in its corporate workforce by 2025.

Nike also tied executive compensation to diversity objectives. Leaders got bonuses for increasing women in leadership positions and hitting minority representation targets at the director level and above.

Lucas filed her discrimination charge in May 2024 when she was still a commissioner. The charge came after America First Legal, Stephen Miller’s conservative group, urged the EEOC to investigate Nike’s diversity practices.

Lucas posted on social media in December, urging white men to file discrimination complaints. The post directed workers to contact the agency “as soon as possible” about DEI-related bias.

The Trump administration has made attacking DEI programs a top priority. President Donald Trump campaigned against diversity initiatives for creating “anti-white feeling” in workplaces.

On his first day back in office, Trump moved to wipe out DEI programs across the federal government and the military. He’s also threatening to strip billions in federal funding from universities with diversity programs.

A Los Angeles judge just cleared the way for Jonathan Hay‘s sex assault lawsuit against Diddy and CJ Wallace to move forward.

According to The New York Post, Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Michael E. Whitaker rejected most of Wallace’s arguments for dismissal. The ruling keeps alive claims including sexual battery, false imprisonment and emotional distress against the imprisoned music mogul and Biggie’s son.

Hay alleges Diddy beat him before forcing his penis into the man’s mouth during a 2020 studio session. The publicist claims the assault happened while he worked on a remix project honoring The Notorious B.I.G.

Court records say Hay was masked, beaten and then sexually assaulted. The complaint alleges Diddy forced his penis into Hay’s mouth during the encounter.

Hay told cops the first incident happened during a 2020 photoshoot. According to the police report, Diddy “removed the shirt to uncover his penis and told Hay to come finish him off.”

Diddy Accuser Details “Freak Off” With Biggie’s Shirt

The report states Hay told police he was stunned. Diddy then “finished himself off and ejaculated on one of Notorious B.I.G. shirts” before throwing the shirt on Hay and saying, “Rest in peace BIG.”

A second alleged assault took place in 2021. Hay told police the Bad Boy boss forced him to perform oral sex, leaving him emotionally devastated. The 49-year-old producer filed a police report in Largo, Florida, where he lives.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department confirmed its Special Victims Bureau opened an active case.

The allegations also name CJ Wallace, accusing him of enabling Diddy. The complaint says Wallace “conspired” with Diddy to “allow or assist in Combs’ ability to carry out” the alleged assaults.

Wallace has denied the claims and filed a defamation lawsuit against Hay. The estate argues the accusations stem from Hay’s frustration over unreleased music from their failed collaboration.

Biggie’s estate produced text messages showing Hay praised Wallace before their relationship soured. On July 11, 2021, he wrote, “I have absolutely loved working with CJ and you guys as it’s truly been an honor and a privilege.”

The estate claims Hay began pushing false narratives after they refused to release his 2020 “Ready to Dance” remixes. Attorneys say Hay shifted from praising CJ Wallace to spreading stories that placed Wallace at the center of lurid claims.

Hay escalated the story in later interviews, alleging Wallace attended Diddy’s infamous freak-off gatherings and watched criminal sexual activity. He also accused Wallace of luring him into a home so Diddy could assault him.

Diddy’s legal team issued a broad denial in response to the growing number of allegations.

The West Coast lyricist grew up believing the pen was meant for war, but has positioned it differently this time.

The spark, at least in Symba’s mind, traces back to J. Cole’s “Bronx Zoo Freestyle” from Cole’s Birthday Blizzard mixtape.

On the track, Cole raps, “Y’all toddlers to me, stop botherin’ me/Young Symba, some ni##as threw some hate my way/But only thing they should say is, ‘Cole, you like a father to me.’”

Symba heard it, felt it…and took it to the studio. I don’t want to hear that talk about it being a “Lion King” reference. And so here we are.

Leaked exclusively by DJ Hed and produced by Conductor Williams, “Father Figure” is not the venom-laced diss many were expecting. Instead of unloading pure hostility, Symba offers thoughtful reflection.

He raps, “Kendrick pressed, Cole stepped back, never seen that before/It has me questioning what all of the training was for?/Maybe standing down is standing up, ain’t think of that before/But this Marvin Gaye won’t get smoked by his father, ni**a.” It is less about tearing Cole down and more about wrestling with what Hip-Hop taught him growing up.

He got my respect.

He speaks directly on the third verse, but even then he leaves the door open to be cool with J. Cole. He framed it as love and honesty – not beef. And yet the streets are swearing he fried Cole.

Cole is about to drop The Falloff so we are seeing a nice bit of promo from within the community. I forgot it was coming out so that was a blessing from Symba!

For now, there is no war. Whether Cole responds or just rides into The Fall-Off era remains to be seen. We’ll see…Symba is definitely watching and listening to every line.
