EXCLUSIVE: Tasha K And Bishop Lamor Whitehead Locked In Hellish $360 Million Lawsuit

YouTube personality Tasha K and the flashy Bishop Lamor Whitehead are embroiled in a staggering $360 million lawsuit.

Tasha K, known for her popular YouTube show “Tasha K Live,” produced by Florida-based Yelen Entertainment LLC, has found herself in the crosshairs of Bishop Whitehead, a controversial figure in his own right.

The legal dispute arose after Tasha K Live reported on the controversies surrounding Whitehead, including an interview with him and why she decided not to publish specific allegations that Whitehead had encouraged her to report.

Following these episodes, Whitehead threatened to sue her for defamation, and now he has made good on his threat.

Whitehead’s colossal lawsuit challenges six statements made by Tasha K in her May 2023 videos.

These include claims that Whitehead bought a $2 million mansion with only $10 in the bank, that he tried to use Tasha K to intimidate a witness in a criminal case, and had a church transfer its building to him, which he was later evicted from – an act that could be considered fraud.

Yelen Entertainment, which produces Tasha K’s show, has countered these allegations, arguing that many of the statements are “fair and true” reports of judicial proceedings and are immune from defamation claims.

They also argue that most of the challenged statements are not actionable as they are opinions, speculation about the future, or loose, hyperbolic language.

Whitehead, a self-proclaimed Bishop and commercial real estate investor, has a checkered past that includes a five-year stint in Sing Sing for multiple counts of identity theft, a civil lawsuit for allegedly defrauding a church out of its building, and a current federal indictment for wire fraud, extortion, and related charges.

Gillie Breaks His Silence After The Murder Of His Son, YNG Cheese

Once again, the heart of Philly’s Hip-Hop scene has been left shattered.

Many were heartbroken to hear the news of the murder of Gillie da King’s son, rapper YNG Cheese, as it spread like wildfire throughout the culture.

As AllHipHop.com reported the 25-year-old was a victim of a shooting near the intersection of Mascher Street and Nedro Avenue.

For the first time, the Major Figgas breakout star spoke about his son’s premature demise.

He wrote next to a picture of his son, “Miss u like $hit Dev My heart will forever have a Black hole in it but u know ur father gotta be strong to hold the family up.”

“Thanks 4 all the support from family, friends, and all of my followers y’all really helping me get thru these ruff times Me and my family appreciate and love y’all,” he continued. “Rest Well dev and watch over us u know I got chase. love u Cheese.”

YNG Cheese’ real name was Devin Spady.

Though blessed with the overflow of his father’s legacy, he stood on his own as an emcee and forged a name for himself in the rap community. He self-released music on YouTube and SoundCloud and collaborated with his father on the 2021 album Macc N Cheese.

AllHipHop.com continues to extend our prayers to the family and the whole of Philly as we all celebrate YNG Cheese’s life and mourn his tragic death.

Travis Scott’s “UTOPIA” Interpolates Kanye West’s “YEEZUS,” But Was B L A C K I E OG Muse?

Travis Scott’s UTOPIA has finally arrived, but people can’t seem to stop talking about Kanye West—and now an artist named B L A C K I E.

Don’t get me wrong, La Flame did his thing and cooked up. Plus, the star-studded guest list UTOPIA boasts draws an appeal of its own. Dawgy really put Bad Bunny and The Weeknd on an Afrobeat banger and called it “K-POP.”

The entire rollout of the album has been insane as well—complete with totem pole subwoofer sound systems, a feature-length film and an Egyptian Pyramids performance pump fake. La Flame really went in his Robert Horry bag and put up numbers on the board to promote this album.

And even with all of that noted, it seems callous fans have reduced the first 24 hours of the project’s life to comparisons of YE’s 2013 acclaimed YEEZUS album. What’s even wilder about it all is the fact that fans aren’t that far off at all by referring to La Flame’s new record as somewhat of a sequel to YE’s shock value-loaded experimental LP. It’s no wonder tracks such as “Modern Jam” feel like a 2023 version of “I Am A God”—considering a version of the track is interpolated in the song.

And yet, even beyond the obvious references, there’s a dark, viscerally distorted aesthetic to UTOPIA that feels oddly reminiscent of YEEZUS. But according to a music journalist, this audiovisual soundscape palette didn’t originate with YE. In fact, it all actually permeated from nearly 20 miles outside of La Flame’s hometown of Missouri City, Texas.

The artist in question responsible for the whole wave is Houston native B L A C K I E. According to an anonymous source, his music was in rotation in the studio while YE was creating YEEZUS. B L A C K I E appears to have released an internet-based project entitled ALL CAPS WITH SPACES in 2011. Records like “Joan Of Arc” and “Warchild” sound eerily similar to YEEZUS cuts like “On Sight” and “I Am A God.”

Truth be told, there’s no telling whether YE ran off with the sauce B L A C K I E cooked up or not. No matter the case, it’d be good for us all to just accept the fact that UTOPIA will likely dominate headlines for the next few weeks. So it’s best to give the news cycle a fair chance or else you stand to get annoyed hella fast.

Drake “Melted” $3 Million Of Pharrell’s Chains While 50-Year-Old Likely Soaked In Hot Bath

It’s clear both Drake and Travis Scott were “looking for revenge” against the likes of Pusha T, Pharrell Williams and Timothèe Chalamet on UTOPIA.

For the most part, the jabs on “Meltdown” were warranted but definitely not lethal knockout blows. Don’t get me wrong, Drizzy rapping about melting down millions of dollars of jewelry he bought from Williams just to spite Pusha T seems like a major flex in theory. And La Flame roasting the Willy Wonka star and his baby momma’s rumored beau, Chalamet, was subtly entertaining. However, it’s one thing to flex grotesque wealth and popularity—and completely another to show off one’s personal hygiene.

I guess the idea here was to keep it cute—but in that case, I doubt the spicy lines even ruffle Williams’ feathers. And that’s likely because he’s probably going to be too busy pulling a nine-plus hour day in the studio to care about Drizzy and his OVO guys shelving their Louis Vuitton in a fit of petty jealousy. Seriously, according to Williams, his daily morning baths last longer—nearly as long as La Flame’s entire album. And during the ultra hot soak, P says he’s praying, meditating and other self-healing alien s### we are starting to believe contribute to his anti-aging superpowers.

Because no matter if Drizzy busts out a gaudy new OVO chain with Williams’ old bling or not, P is gonna forever look like he’s 30 years ol, and it’s all due to his insane spa-like regimen. Bro said he “exfoliates like a narcissistic madman,” I kid you not. That man is already SICK! Ain’t no way a few VVS clarity chains bringing his day down when his skin glows like 18K gold.

Alicia Keys & Swizz Beatz’s Young Son Objects To Her Pasties: “Really Gonna Do This Mom?”

Alicia Keys recently performed in Brooklyn as part of the Keys To The Summer Tour. As she was backstage getting ready for the concert, her 8-year-old son had some wardrobe advice. On Friday (July 28), Keys shared an Instagram video of Genesis adamantly objecting to Keys’ pasties.

“Really gonna do this mom?” he asks Keys to which she replies, “What’s wrong?” Genesis then makes it clear he’s talking about her breasts possibly getting exposed during her performance. Keys assures him, “It’s cool,” but he squirms at the thought. “So everybody can see your boobs?” he asks. “I’ve never seen anybody do that.” She says, “Well, you’re eight.” Keys then demonstrates a dance move and says, “This is the worst it’s gonna be.” Genesis suggests an alternative move: “How about we do this?” he says, squatting to the ground. Keys ultimately concludes, “It’s not a big deal. They’re boobs. Everyone has them.”

Keys added in the caption, “Genesis was not a fan of my pasties. There is NOTHING like a hometown show. Brooklyn, I felt every part of your love. Full recap on my YouTube!”

Swizz Beatz, Keys’ longtime husband and father of her children, was proud of his son. He wrote in the comment section, “My guy,” followed by a laughing emoji.

Alicia Keys announced the Keys To The Summer Tour in April. Produced by Live Nation, the run was presented as a 360-degree “in the round” production.

“The Keys To The Summer Tour is going to be completely unforgettable and unmissable!” Keys said at the time. “I describe it as a celebration of freedom and self-liberation! It’s going to be colorful, magical and will light up your body, soul and all of your senses! This is my first time creating a 360 experience and we’ve made sure it’s like nothing you’ve ever seen! I’m so excited to see y’all this summer!”

The tour resumes on Sunday (July 30) in Seattle and concludes at the Kia Forum in Los Angeles on August 2. Find more information here.

Young Thug’s Lawyers Seek Exclusion Of Goat Sacrifice Evidence In RICO Trial

On July 27, Young Thug’s lawyers filed a motion with the Superior Court of Fulton County to exclude evidence involving one of his co-defendants from his RICO trial.

This co-defendant, Shannon Stillwell (also known as SB), was arrested on March 17, 2022, at a home in East Point during a religious ceremony that allegedly involved the sacrifice of goats, according to 11 Alive.

The prosecution wanted to use this evidence against Stillwell during the trial, but Thug’s defense argues that it has no relevance to the charges against Thug.

The defense also pointed out that Stillwell’s arrest is connected to a separate murder charge unrelated to the Atlanta rapper’s case. Thug’s lawyers referenced local court records in the motion, contending that presenting evidence of the religious ceremony to jurors would not benefit the case and could be influenced by biases against the religious practice.

Despite the ceremony’s unrelated nature to Thug, the defense believes it could still negatively impact both Thug’s and his co-defendants’ cases.

“A reasonable person can also view this as character evidence as well,” the motion reads.

This motion is the latest development in the year-long RICO case. Notably, Thug’s co-defendant, Stillwell, has been incarcerated in Cobb County Jail for over a year, and his request for bond was denied again recently, as reported by AllHipHop.com.

Donald Glover And His Brother Stephen Make Power Move As Writers For “Lando” TV Series

Donald Glover and his brother Stephen Glover have been set to write the “Star Wars” spin-off series “Lando.”

The “Atlanta” star and his brother Stephen have signed on to write the upcoming limited series from Lucasfilm and Disney+. The project was first announced in December 2020 with “Dear White People” creator Justin Simien attached.

However, he has since exited the series.

The show will follow “Star Wars” character Lando Calrissian, who Donald played in the 2018 prequel movie “Solo: A Star Wars Story.”

The singer/actor previously expressed an interest in reprising the role during an interview with GQ in April.

“I would love to play Lando again. It’s a fun time, being him. It just has to be the right way to do it,” Donald Glover said. “Time is precious. The past couple of years, this pandemic s###, it really had people experience time.”

He continued, “People realize their time is valuable. You only get so much. I’m not interested in doing anything that’s going to be a waste of my time or just a paycheck. I’d much rather spend time with people that I enjoy. It just has to be the right thing, and I think it could be. Lando is definitely somebody I like to hang out with.”

The character was most famously portrayed by Billy Dee Williams in 1980’s “The Empire Strikes Back,” 1983’s “Return of the Jedi” and 2019’s “The Rise of Skywalker.”

Nicki Minaj, 21 Savage, And Snoop Dogg featuring in Call of Duty

Snoop Dogg, Nicki Minaj, and 21 Savage have been set to feature in a new season of Call of Duty.
Season 5 of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has been set to drop on August 2, with the shooter-style video game set to feature the three rappers as playable characters to celebrate 50 years of Hip-Hop music.

Photos released via the video game’s official Twitter/X account showed Nicki’s character – the first female rapper to receive her own operator skin in a major video game – donning pink hair and blue eyeshadow and sporting a pink gun.

Meanwhile, Snoop Dogg’s character was shown holding a blue and gold gun, dressed in a gold and white jumpsuit with marijuana leaf designs.
Video game publisher Activision also announced that players were to receive free Hip-Hop War Tracks for logging in to Modern Warfare 2 or Warzone between August 7 and August 16.

This wasn’t the first time rappers appeared in video games. 50 Cent released his own video game, titled 50 Cent: Bulletproof, where the gamer played as the “Candy Shop” rapper seeking vengeance against those who tried to murder him.

A series of Def Jam video games were also released in the ’00s, where players could fight rappers, including DMX and Ludacris.

Hopsin Still Has Questions About Eminem’s “Kamikaze” Name-Drop

Hopsin isn’t your average rapper—nor would he want to be. Celebrated for his refreshing vulnerability and willingness to address complex topics like mental health, the Los Angeles native easily stands out among the homogenized rap currently littering the airwaves. Perhaps it’s his uniqueness (bolstered by his colored contacts and insane skateboarding prowess) that caught Eminem’s attention. In 2018, Slim Shady—who Hopsin credits with making him want to rap—rattled off his name on the Kamikaze single “Fall.” It was a career-defining moment for Hopsin, who didn’t hide his excitement at the time.

“Yo, craziest s### just f###ing happened,” he said on Instagram. “Eminem just said my name on his g####### song on his new album. This s### is crazy. Listen. What the f###! I didn’t even know he knew who the f### I was! G#######. He said don’t tell him about the culture, implying I’m part of the culture. Oh s###, man. I gotta call my mom.”

https://www.instagram.com/p/BnIdfAsBewI/?utm_source=ig_embed&ig_rid=144211b1-327c-4040-8752-342fa1554078

Five years later, Hopsin still smiles through the phone as he talks about it. As he tells AllHipHop, “That was a highlight of my life. The line where he named a few people, everybody’s huge. I definitely have a buzz, but everybody’s bigger than me. And not only that, I have no ties to the industry, so it made me feel even more grateful for it because I’m just the random guy on that list. I have no ties to that man other than just me being a fan and him inspiring me. There’s so many rappers in the world and he put me in there. That means he listened to my music.”

But that only leads to more questions for Hopsin—where was Eminem when he heard my music? What song was it? What was I doing when he was listening to it? Was he eating a sandwich? Where was he? Although he might never get the answers to these questions, the fact Eminem raps his name in a song is more than enough.

Hopsin could’ve gone into “Eminem mode”—as he puts it—on his latest record, “Single On Singel.” The song revolves around a romantic relationship that took a sharp left when the woman met another man. Loosely autobiographical, the incident took place while he was still living in Amsterdam, a place he called home for more than a year.

“Sometimes it’s weird writing songs,” he says. “I can always go deeper, but I guess sometimes when writing songs about people, it’s a bittersweet feeling. You get to write your life experience with that person, but then you’re also kind of putting that person on blast. There was so much more that happened, but I’m like, ‘Do I go all the way?’ I don’t want to go into Eminem mode and get crazy because it could have gone there. But I was like, there’s no need to reveal all the other stuff.”

Hopsin is currently back in L.A. but will hit the road in August for a show at Sunshine Studios Live in Colorado Springs, Colorado. In the meantime, he’s plotting his next adventure.

“I’m always conflicted because I want to move to Bali, Indonesia,” he says. “And I just want to live the island life to contribute to my health and just being around nature. So I don’t know. I’m kind of conflicted right now because I want to go there for my birthday—and I don’t think I’ll come back.”

For now, he’ll have to wait at least until the Colorado show is over, but if history has taught us anything, Hopsin will do things on his own terms like the independent artist he is. Check back with AllHipHop for Part II of the Hopsin interview soon.

2023 Emmy Awards Postponed As Strike Shakes Up TV Industry

The 2023 Emmy Awards have been postponed due to the ongoing actors’ and writers’ strikes.

The annual TV prizegiving was due to take place on September 18. However, it has been postponed to a later date due to the ongoing strikes by members of the WGA writers’ union and SAG-AFTRA performers’ union.

According to Variety, vendors for both the Primetime Emmys and the Creative Arts Emmys, which usually occur the week before, have been told that the ceremonies will not be broadcast on those dates.

A person unauthorized to speak publicly about the situation confirmed to USA Today that the awards show will be delayed until January 2024. This marks the first time the Emmys have been postponed since 2001 when they were pushed back following the 9/11 attacks.

Representatives for the TV Academy have not yet commented on the reports. However, they said last week, “Like the rest of the industry, we hope there will be an equitable and timely resolution for all parties in the current guild negotiations.

We continue to monitor the situation closely with our partners at Fox and will advise if and when there is an update available.”

They had previously confirmed that final-round voting for the Primetime Emmys will still occur between August 17 and 28. Under the work stoppage guidelines, actors and writers cannot promote their work, attend or campaign for awards shows.

The nominations for the 2023 Emmys were unveiled mere days before the strike, with “Succession” leading the charge with 27 nods. The drama was followed by “The Last of Us” with “24,” “The White Lotus” with “23,” and Ted Lasso with “21.”

Future Loses Child Support Battle With Brittni Mealy; Ordered To Pay More

Rapper Future has been ordered by the court to increase his child support payments to Brittni Mealy, the mother of his 10-year-old son, Prince.

According to RadarOnline, the court has ruled that Future will now pay Mealy $5,000 per month, a significant increase from the previous amount of $3,000.

This decision comes after a lengthy legal battle where Mealy sought to have the rapper’s finances examined to determine if he could afford to provide more support.

Mealy’s legal team argued that there had been a “substantial change” in Future’s income since the original child support amount was set in 2014. They found that the rapper currently earns about $30,000 a month.

They cited his successful music career and other ventures as evidence of his increased wealth. Mealy also requested a detailed account of Future’s financial assets, including his credit charges, money transfers, property holdings, and cryptocurrency investments.

The court’s decision also considered changes in the child’s needs and Future’s alleged failure to fulfill his custody obligations.

Mealy claimed that Future frequently missed his scheduled custody days, leading her to hire additional childcare.

As part of the court’s ruling, Future must maintain a $350,000 life insurance policy and cover daycare costs for the days he fails to honor the custody schedule.

Doechii Reimagines UGK’s “Int’l Players Anthem” As “Universal Swamp Anthem”

“Int’l Players Anthem (I Choose You)” by UGK featuring OutKast is a bona fide Hip Hop classic. Rising Tampa rapper Doechii channeled the energy of the Underground Kingz track for her new record titled “Universal Swamp Anthem.”

Doechii’s reimagining of “Int’l Players Anthem” as “Universal Swamp Anthem” is part of the “Pixel RePresents” series. Mass Appeal partnered with Google Pixel and Sony Music Entertainment’s Certified for the program.

“Pixel RePresents” honors Hip Hop’s 50th anniversary by elevating women in the culture. Additional modern-day female rappers – such as Lola Brooke, Flo Milli, and BIA – also recreated popular tunes from past eras.

Doechii’s “Universal Swamp Anthem” is the fourth single off the upcoming Pix Tape EP which drops in August. Each track on the project comes with original artwork photographed on a Google Pixel 7 Pro.

Previously, Doechii scored a Billboard Hot 100 entry with “What It Is (Block Boy)” featuring Kodak Black. The she/her/black b*tch EP creator received the Rising Star Award at the 2023 Billboard Women in Music ceremony. She also earned a Best New Artist nomination at the 2023 BET Awards.

The Recording Academy nominated UGK and OutKast’s “Int’l Players Anthem” for Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group at 2008’s 50th Annual Grammy Awards. Plus, the DJ Paul and Juicy J-produced collaboration’s music video won Video Of The Year at the 8th BET Awards in 2008.

New Report Cast Negative Cloud Over Travis Scott’s Astroworld Civil Cases

Important evidence may change the trajectory of Travis Scott’s Astroworld case. Houston police have recently made public a comprehensive 1,266-page report that does not look favorable on the rap star.

If what is in this report is true, the rapper could be liable for the horrific tragedies on that night. This disturbing news comes days after he drops his new album, Utopia.

As AllHipHop.com reported, Scott is being sued after a crowd surge took the life of 10 people.

According to the report, during the November 2021 Astroworld concert, a security guard went backstage and pleaded with Travis Scott’s team to halt the event due to security concerns, TMZ reported.

Within the report, numerous interviews were conducted with hundreds of concert attendees, including those who experienced injuries and required hospitalization. Also included in the report was a testimony from a security guard named Marty.

Travis Scott

In his comments to the police, the security guard said he managed to reach the backstage audio area during Drake’s performance in an attempt to stop the show.

He then said that he clearly communicated to two members of Travis’ team, who supposedly had the means to reach Travis, that the concert had to be stopped. To the misfortune of those injured and killed, his effort was obstructed and unable to convey his urgent message.

According to the man’s account, Travis’ team was totally against the show being stopped because Drake still had three more songs to perform.

The security guard tried to emphasize that the situation was more important than just Drake’s performance but alleged that Travis’ team didn’t care.

During the investigation into the night, the police also interviewed Drake and asked if he noticed any issues in the crowd while he was on stage. The “God’s Plan” chart-topper said he did not, mostly because of the many lights around. He also said since he had not done a rehearsal, he was unfamiliar with performing on that stage. Thus was unaware of things going on with the audience.

In addition to the attendees, there were first responders that talked about the medical challenges they encountered. Within a span of 46 minutes, one firefighter attended to 11 patients experiencing cardiac arrest. He also encountered one individual with a crushed larynx, one overdose incident, and several other injuries requiring immediate attention.

Travis faces civil lawsuits over the concert tragedy, and if evidence shows his team indeed hindered efforts to stop the show, it may have major legal consequences in the ongoing cases.

Doja Cat Fans Trash “Paint the Town Red” Single Announcement

Following Doja Cat’s controversial diss towards her fans last week, the rapper’s dedicated fanbase has become deeply divided.

Earlier this month, the “Say So” artist, who is notoriously outspoken on social media, lashed out at her fans online.

The performer aimed the bulk of her criticism at those who had created fan accounts dedicated to her and referred to themselves as “kittenz,” a name she had given to her fans in the past.

“My fans don’t get to name themselves s###. If you call yourself a ‘kitten’ or f###### ‘kittenz’ that means you need to get off your phone and get a job and help your parents with the house,” Doja Cat said.

As a result of the 27-year-old’s startling remarks, Hype Auditor has reported that she has lost more than 180,000 followers on Instagram over the recent weeks.

Some fiercely attacking her, while others are grappling with the decision to continue supporting her. These sentiments were evident in the mixed and unexpected reactions that emerged after she announced her highly anticipated new single, “Paint the Town Red.”

Doja Cat has lost over 180,000 Instagram followers after lashing out at her fans on social media, and some of the “kittenz” still want to claw the rapper’s eyes out unless she apologizes.

“Idk if I can stream I’m too busy helping my parents clean the house,” one user replied, while another wrote: “we will be streaming illegally to fight for the kittenz.”

Doja is preparing for a nationwide U.S. tour, which will kick off later this year.

The first show will be held at San Francisco’s Chase Center on October 31. But some fans have vowed to boycott the outing. There is no release date for “Paint the Town Red.”

Boosie Badazz Laughs At Wack 100 Posting $1 Million Check To Defend Kodak Black’s 6ix9ine Collab

Boosie Badazz and Wack 100 argued over Kodak Black’s decision to collaborate with Tekashi 6ix9ine on Friday (July 28). Wack 100 defended Kodak Black by posting proof of the $1 million the 26-year-old rapper received for the feature.

“FOR ALL YALL THINKING @kodakblack is CAPP’n NAW IMA STAND IN A GAP FOR THOSE THAT STOOD FOR ME,” Wack 100 wrote on Instagram.” [Boosie] THIS MAN SHOWED UP FOR WACK RESPECTFULLY GET OFF THAT B####### WITH HIM. WE’VE ALWAYS BEEN GOOD LETS KEEP IT THAT WAY. AND SHOUT OUT TO @fumevapors MY NEW BUSINESS PARTNERS WHO DID EXACTLY WHAT WE AGREED TO.”

He continued, “TO THE REST FOLLOW YOUR MIND DO WHAT’S BEST FOR YOU …. NOW SHUT IT TF UP THAT FIRST BAD WAS REAL 2 MORE CAME AFTER THIS!”

A post shared by Dinero Jones (@wack100)

Boosie responded in the comments of Wack 100’s post. The Baton Rouge native said the video proved his point that Kodak Black sacrificed morals for money.

“I never said he didn’t get paid lol that ain’t what this bout n u know @wack100 don’t act like i said yall was lying about the money,” Boosie wrote with laughing emojis. “u posting this does not help his situation at all it’s actually [worse]! NOW he only got paid 600 k n gotta pay 400k n taxes.”

Boosie believed Wack 100 picked the wrong side by defending Kodak Black. The veteran artist sought to speak with Wack 100 in private.

Kodak Black worked with 6ix9ine on a new song “Shaka Laka.” The two appeared together in the track’s music video.

Carlee Russell Smiling Mugshot Released After Being Arrested & Charged For Kidnapping Hoax

Carlee Russell, the 25-year-old Alabama nursing student who claimed she was kidnapped for 49 hours, a stunt she later confessed was a lie, was charged with two misdemeanors concerning the hoax, Hoover, Alabama police announced Friday (July 28).

The arrest warrant was issued earlier today. Carlee Russell surrendered to authorities accompanied by her attorney at the Hoover City Jail to face two misdemeanor charges: false reporting to law enforcement authorities and falsely reporting an incident.

“Her decisions that night created panic and alarm for the citizens of our city and even across the nation as the concern grew about a kidnapper being on the loose using a small child as bait…as we know, actions can have consequences, and that’s why we’re here today,” Hoover Police Chief Nick Derzis said.

Russell’s initial disappearance on July 13, 2023, triggered a massive search operation after she reported seeing a toddler walking along the side of the interstate and intended to pull over to help.

Her sudden reappearance three days later was as unexpected as her disappearance, and she was immediately taken to the hospital for evaluation.

Carlee Russell Mugshot

However, the revelation of Russell’s deception has had far-reaching consequences. She has since been fired from her job at the Woodhouse Spa in Birmingham, Alabama. The spa’s owner, Stuart Rome, expressed his employees’ feelings of betrayal, stating it was devastating for them, thinking a coworker was abducted.

Russell’s former boyfriend, Thomar Latrell Simmons, revealed Russell’s actions also blindsided him, resulting in their split. In a statement posted on Instagram Monday night, July 24, Simmons says Carlee’s actions created hurt, confusion, and dishonesty.

The charges carried a bond of $1,000 each and are punishable by up to a year in jail and a $6,000 fine if convicted. Russell was released from jail after posting bond.

G Herbo Finds Out Sentencing Date After Officially Pleading Guilty In Fraud Case

G Herbo admitted to his role in a fraud scheme in a Massachusetts court on Friday (July 28). The Chicago-bred rapper pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and one count of making a false statement to a federal official.

Prosecutors dropped several counts of aggravated identity theft as part of a plea deal. G Herbo is scheduled to be sentenced on November 7.

G Herbo, whose real name is Herbert Wright, agreed to pay roughly $140,000 in restitution. He faces up to 20 years in prison for wire fraud and five years for making false statements.

“Mr. Wright used stolen account information as his very own unlimited funding source, using victims’ payment cards to finance an extravagant lifestyle and advance his career,” Massachusetts’ Acting U.S. Attorney Joshua Levy said. “Mr. Wright’s conduct affected countless businesses and individuals across the United States who had to foot his nearly $140,000 bill in unauthorized transactions.”

Levy added, “Mr. Wright flaunted his lavish spending on social media, in music videos and in industry news. This office and our law enforcement partners are committed to ensuring that individuals and businesses are protected against fraudsters. This case should serve as a reminder that if you break the law, you will be prosecuted and held accountable – regardless of who you are.”

G Herbo’s co-defendant Antonio Strong pleaded not guilty to fraud and identity theft charges. Strong awaits trial.

YNW Melly Learns Start Date For Retrial In Double Murder Case

YNW Melly must wait until the fall to defend himself against murder charges once again.

According to multiple reports, Florida prosecutors requested an October 2 start date for YNW Melly’s retrial. His defense team agreed to the date at a court hearing on Friday (July 28).

The double murder case’s first trial began in June. The jury was unable to reach a verdict after hearing weeks of testimony. Judge John Murphy declared a mistrial on July 22.

Prosecutors asked Judge Murphy to allow them to try the 24-year-old rapper alongside his co-defendant YNW Bortlen in the retrial. The defense objected since their client is facing the death penalty and YNW Bortlen is not.

Prior to the mistrial, YNW Bortlen’s trial was scheduled to start on October 2. Judge Murphy did not make a ruling on the prosecution’s request to try YNW Melly and YNW Bortlen together.

Prosecutors accuse YNW Melly of killing his friends YNW Juvy and YNW Sakchaser in 2018. YNW Bortlen allegedly helped stage a drive-by shooting to cover up the murders.

YNW Melly, whose real name is Jamell Demons, was arrested in 2019. He pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder charges. The Florida native remains in jail as he awaits his second trial.
