Offset Performs “Code” and “54321” On ‘The Tonight Show’

Kiari “Offset” Cephus seems to be fully stepping into his role as a solo rapper. After rising to fame as part of the Quality Control Music-backed rap group Migos, the southern emcee dropped two new singles over the last month.

The Baby Keem-produced “54321” arrived on August 19. Offset followed that track up with the Moneybagg Yo-assisted “Code” on August 26. Both tracks have music videos on YouTube too.

Last night, Offset presented a medley of “54321” and “Code” on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. The 4-minute performance included female and male backup dancers. Set also showed off some of his dance moves.

“54321” debuted at #88 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Previously, the Motown recording artist scored Top 10 hits as a soloist with guest appearances on Tyga’s “Taste” (#8) and Kodak Black’s “ZEZE” (#2).

Migos earned a #1 song on the Hot 100 in 2017 when “Bad And Boujee” featuring Lil Uzi Vert peaked in the chart’s top spot. The trio of Offset, Takeoff, and Quavo have four Top 10 entries.

Over the last several months, there has been speculation of a Migos split. Takeoff and Quavo began releasing music as the Unc & Phew duo. Plus, Offset had a public disagreement with Quality Control CEO Pierre “P” Thomas.

Years before the rumors of a Migos breakup, Offset dropped his first solo album, Father of 4. That 2019 studio LP debuted at #4 on the Billboard 200 chart with 89,000 first-week units. Father of 4 hosts the “Clout” single featuring Set’s wife Cardi B.

This week also saw Offset and Cardi B celebrate the first birthday of their youngest son. Cardi gave birth to Wave Set Cephus on September 4, 2021. The celebrity couple also has a four-year-old daughter named Kulture Kiari Cephus. Offset has three other children from previous relationships.

J. Alphonse Nicholson Tears Up While Discussing His Lil Murda Role On ‘P-Valley’

P-Valley became a breakout hit. Creator Katori Hall’s drama series about residents of a Mississippi town earned widespread praise. In particular, J. Alphonse Nicholson’s portrayal of Lil Murda earned him an NAACP Image Award nomination.

Tamron Hall kicked off the fourth season of her daytime talk show by inviting members of the P-Valley cast onto the program. Nicco Annan, Shannon Thornton, and Gail Bean joined J. Alphonse Nicholson for the sit-down interview.

At one point, Tamron Hall pointed out that P-Valley and J. Alphonse Nicholson have earned critical praise. Nicholson fought back tears as the live audience applauded the actor/percussionist for his work on the show.

“I’m just blessed to be here. This experience, the love that people show you is overwhelming,” J. Alphonse Nicholson told Hall. He added, “Such an honor to be back here in New York and it is such an honor to be able to bring such a complex story to the table and to be a representation for any and everyone.”

J. Alphonse Nicholson’s Lil Murda Represents Another Side Of The LGBTQ Community

The Lil Murda character is an aspiring rapper who also happens to be a closeted gay man. He is in love with Uncle Clifford (played by Nicco Annan) which forces the streets-raised rhymer to embrace his own sexuality.

J. Alphonse Nicholson also told Tamron Hall, “I call Lil Murda ‘The Every Man,’ and so I’m just crying because like I said, the love is overwhelming and being able to step into these shoes and bring the Katori Hall’s story to life and represent a Black woman. Truly, I’m grateful for it.”

Season two of P-Valley ran from June 3, 2022 to August 14, 2022. Reality show star Joseline Hernandez made a cameo as herself on the “White Knights” episode. Grammy-winning rap star Megan Thee Stallion appeared as her alter ego, Tina Snow, on the “Snow” episode.

DJ Khaled Debuts 10 ‘God Did’ Songs On Hot 100 Chart

Hip Hop veteran DJ Khaled currently has the most popular album in America. God Did opened at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart. Khaled also found success on the Billboard Hot 100 this week.

Ten tracks from Khaled’s God Did landed on the latest Hot 100 chart. The project’s highly-discussed title track featuring Rick Ross, Lil Wayne, Jay-Z, John Legend, and Fridayy started off at #17.

“Beautiful” featuring Future and SZA (#29) as well as “Big Time” featuring Future and Lil Baby (#31) made it into the Top 40 as well. “Use This Gospel (Remix)” featuring Kanye West and Eminem launched at #49.

“Staying Alive” featuring Drake and Lil Baby previously peaked at #5 on the Hot 100 chart dated August 20, 2022. Khaled’s single now sits at #21, a rise of six positions from last week’s rankings. “Staying Alive” has held a spot on the Hot 100 for four weeks.

DJ Khaled has 56 career entries on the Hot 100. “I’m The One” with Justin Bieber, Quavo, Chance The Rapper, and Lil Wayne is the We the Best leader’s highest-charting song. That collaboration peaked at #1 in 2017. Additionally, “Wild Thoughts” featuring Rihanna and Bryson Tiller had an extended run at #2 in 2017.

DJ Khaled Continues Add No. 1 Albums To His Résumé

Over on the Billboard 200 chart, Khaled currently has four Number Ones. God Did racked up 107,500 equivalent album units in its first week of release. It is Khaled’s tenth Top 10 project.

Previously, DJ Khaled made it to the top of the Billboard 200 rankings with 2016’s Major Key, 2017’s Grateful, and 2021’s Khaled Khaled. Back in 2017, Grateful stayed at #1 for two weeks.

Tiffany Haddish’s Lawyer Responds To Sexual Misconduct Accusations

Tiffany Haddish found herself connected to serious allegations of sexual molestation and grooming. Two unidentified people (listed as Jane Doe and John Doe) filed a lawsuit against Haddish and fellow comedian Aries Spears.

The suit stems from Aries Spears and Tiffany Haddish taking part in a 2014 skit titled “Through A Pedophiles Eyes.” Haddish played a woman who dropped off a child to his uncle played by Spears.

According to the plaintiffs, Aries Spears and Tiffany Haddish allegedly recruited them to film “sexually explicit child pornography skits.” Jane Doe was 14 years old at the time. John Doe was 7 years old.

“I know a lot of people have a bunch of questions. I get it. I’m right there with you. Unfortunately, because there is an ongoing legal case, there’s very little that I can say right now,” wrote Haddish on social media.

Tiffany Haddish’s legal representation has also responded to the pending lawsuit. Entertainment news website Hollywood Unlocked published a statement from the Girl Trip star’s attorney, Andrew Brettler.

“Plaintiff’s mother, Trizah Morris, has been trying to assert these bogus claims against Ms. Haddish for several years,” stated Andrew Brettler. “Every attorney who has initially taken on her case – and there were several – ultimately dropped the matter once it became clear that the claims were meritless and Ms. Haddish would not be shaken down.”

Brettler added, “Now, Ms. Morris has her adult daughter representing herself in this lawsuit. The two of them will together face the consequences of pursuing this frivolous action.” The accuser reportedly called on Los Angeles officials to arrest and prosecute Tiffany Haddish and Aries Spears.

U.K. Drill Rapper Madix Shot Dead By Cops After Car Chase

A man shot dead by police in London has been named as 23-year-old rapper Chris Kaba who went by the name Madix or Mad Itch 67.  

Cops were in pursuit of a “suspect vehicle” at around 10 p.m. on Monday (Sep. 5) when they hemmed in the Audi driven by the rapper, forcing him to stop. Once the chase ended, cops say one police firearm was discharged.  

As reported by BBC, Madix was months away from becoming a father, according to the mother of his fiancée. She said the “super-kind” “funny” rapper was “so loved.”

“Crazy. He was always happy. He’d do anything for you,” Kimberly Alleyne explained. “He was a fiancé, he was due to get married in five months’ time. He’s got a baby on the way that he’s never going to see.” 

She added, “It’s horrible and so shocking and so sad,” questioning why he had to be shot. Kimberly Alleyne believes had Madix been white he would have been given “a chance to get out the car.” 

Maddix was part of drill collective 67 and had been nominated for a prestigious MOBO award for his music.  

Cops Investigating Madix’s Death Say One Shot Was Fired

Witnesses at the scene report hearing gunshots and a police helicopter hovering overhead. A statement from the Metropolitan Police reveals, “specialist firearms officers were in pursuit of a suspect vehicle.” Once the vehicle was stopped, a “police firearm was discharged.” 

The say officers administered first aid before Madix was transported to hospital. However, he died from his injuries shortly after midnight. A post-mortem is set to take place to establish the preliminary cause of death.  

The Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) opened an investigation, standard procedure in any police shooting in England. They confirmed one shot was fired from a police issue firearm.  

Sal Naseem, IOPC London regional director, said: “When the police use fatal force it is important that there is a robust, independent investigation to establish all of the circumstances surrounding what happened.” 

Janet Jackson Surprises Teyana Taylor On Her Farewell Tour

Teyana Taylor has always cited Janet Jackson as one of the main inspirations for her music career, and the pair now share a close bond.  

The Harlem songstress said meeting her idol in 2017 was ”one of the best days of my life.” Now, Janet has also given her “one of the greatest surprises” ever, pulling up to her tour. Janet Jackson surprised Teyana Taylor during the London stop of her The Last Rose Petal 2…Farewell Tour.  

She took to Instagram to share the special moment with her followers, posting a video of the moment the iconic singer appeared backstage at the O2 Academy. Teyana also shared a series of images of the pair alongside photos of her paying homage to Janet Jackson with her stage outfits.

Fat Joe Announced As Host For 2022 BET Hip-Hop Awards

Fat Joe will be coming to screens in September as the host of the 2022 BET Hip-Hop Awards. 

The New York native is in high demand and is extending his role as a media personality with a promise to deliver in a big way.  

“This will be the BIGGEST award show in history,” Fat Joe explained to Billboard. “It’s truly an honor to host and produce the BET Hip Hop Awards, and I can’t thank Connie [Orlando] and the entire BET family enough for this opportunity. We’re going to celebrate music, culture, and entertainment, honor the biggest and brightest stars in the world and make this an unforgettable night full of laughs and surprises. Always remember that yesterday’s host is not today’s host.” 

The ceremony takes place at Cobb Energy Center in Atlanta, GA, on Friday, September 30. The broadcast premiere will air Tuesday, October 4, at 9 PM ET/PT on BET.

BET Label Fat Joe “One of the Gods of Rap”

However, many fans on Twitter called out BET for the appointment after Fat Joe was dragged last month for saying that Hip-Hop was created by both Latinos and Black people. They were also unhappy with BET characterizing Joey Crack as a Rap God. 

“We bringing that culture back with one of the GODS of Rap!” BET announced on social media.

600 Breezy Mourns The Death of His Girlfriend Raven Jackson

600 Breezy is in mourning, revealing his girlfriend Raven Jackson has passed away. 

While the Chicago native did not reveal her cause of death, on Tuesday (Sept. 6), he shared a series of posts, including what is being reported as an alleged suicide note. He also posted a number of photographs of himself and the fitness influencer, his girlfriend of two years.  

“Baby why would you do this to me , why would you do this to us,” 600 Breezy wrote in the caption of a photo of the couple. “I was coming back home I promised you I would. You just gone leave me forever? You kno how many people love you raven? I would’ve never left if this was the outcome.”  

He continued: “Im f##### up for the rest of my life baby mentally you just finished me. Im shaking I’m crying I love you so much stinky pie. My woman my wife my life …You pushed me away so you can do this ??? I would’ve died with you raven I did any and everything for you …I’ll never be able to love again @raven.k.jackson. 600 Breezy Shares Message From Raven Jackson

600 Breezy also shared screenshots of a message, allegedly sent by Raven, reportedly as a suicide note. The “New Opps” rapper explained how much he “worshipped” his girlfriend and encouraged fans to take mental health concerns seriously.

Godbliss Recruits Nitty Scott For New Single “Femme Fatale & Casanova”

Godbliss was born in the Bronx, New York, in the early 80’s, like so many others was influenced by hip-hop at a young age. Godbliss’s mother was a female rapper, and his father was a well-known DJ in the Bronx. Hip-Hop was in his blood at birth. At the age of 10, Godbliss was already writing rhymes. 

Growing up listening to Kool G Rap, Rakim, Big Daddy Kane, and KRS-One, he created his own style. By 1992 Godbliss had joined the 5% Nation of Gods and Earths and started putting knowledge and intellect along with his already hardcore metaphoric style. Godbliss has never lost a battle and is well known in the underground market. Touring around the world performing and keeping real hip-hop alive, Godbliss has a large following of fans rooted in the real hip-hop tradition; a fan base that includes every race and nationality. 

On August 19th, Godbliss released his lasted single featuring Nitty Scott produced by D-ski The Illeagle, “Femme Fatale & Casanova“. This single was inspired by the mentality of a Femme Fatale and Casanova and how it affects our society. In addition to working with Nitty Scott, he has also worked with The Game, Inspectah Deck, Kool G Rap, Sadat-X, Saigon, Grand Daddy IU, K-Rino, and J-lyn, to name a few.

What are some important achievements and milestones you feel proud to share?

An important achievement for me was when I purchased my dream house at the age of 21 and purchased my dream car, a Lamborghini Huracan at the age of 26 years old!

I also attended a YSL party back in 2022 which was a life-changing experience meeting some notable Musicians like Young Thug, that inspired me heavily and really helped encourage me on my path to pursuing music further!

Tell us a little bit more about your background, where were you born and raised, and how you got into music:

I was born in west Africa, Monrovia Liberia to be exact. I moved to the United States at the age of 9 years old. I got into music heavily when I first moved to the United States.

 Lil Boosie was the first artist I took an interest in when I first got introduced to Music.

How did your background affect your journey and current situation?

Honestly, my background affected my journey in a very positive way. I was introduced to something new and different from what I grew up around while in Africa. 

Hip Hop wasn’t as popular growing up where I grew up. When I got to the United States everything changed and I got introduced to Hip Hop thanks to my older cousin.

What influenced you to become a Musical Artist:

The lifestyle that I live influenced me to become an artist. I listen to a lot of Artists speak on what their life was like and I always said to myself “Damn that’s me, I can relate to this a lot” so the decision was pretty easy getting into music.

Was there a certain moment that was a turning point in your life:

The turning point in my life was when I moved out of Florida to Tennessee at the age of 19. 

That was a life-changing moment for me looking back. I had zero friends or family in Tennessee when I moved. 

I had no option other than to work hard and grind. I was distraction free as well, which was a major element in my growth.

We love your new song “Everyday”, what can we expect from you musically in the future?

Yeah, I had a lot of motivation in my life to release that song and the response has been incredible! It got me feeling like Music is something I was meant to do and I’m excited to release my album in early 2023!

Redman Reveals He’s Officially A Licensed Skydiver: “I’m Wilding In The Skies”

“Look up in the sky, it’s a bird, it’s a plane,” or is it newly licensed skydiver Redman? 

Redman has been a fan of the extreme sport for decades but recently took things up a notch. At the beginning of the year, he set himself a challenge to become a qualified skydiver. 

After many months of soaring high in the sky and 27 jumps later, Redman achieved his goal. He took to Instagram on Tuesday evening (Sept. 6) to share his achievement with a video montage featuring some of his jumps. The clip begins with the “How High” rapper somersaulting out of an aircraft into the open sky. He’s seen performing several aerial maneuvers, even giving his instructor a high five mid-jump, all while thousands of feet up in the air.  

“I worked HARD for this !!,” Redman penned in the caption. “27 JUMPS and Studied Hard for my Written Exam and Passed TODAY !! I’m an OFFICIAL A LICENSED SKYDIVER. 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏”  

He continued: “I’m WILDING IN THE SKIES,” before thanking the team at Skydive Spaceland Houston.

Several of his peers took to the comments to congratulate him, including Ja Rule, who revealed he was also going for the feat. 

“Dope,” he replied, adding, “I got 23 jumps to go lol… congrats 🌊.” Redman was fully in support, responding, “Aye Les Go My Bro !!”

Redman released “So Cool” this summer, beginning the rollout for the long-awaited sequel to his 1996 solo album Muddy Waters. The single serves as the lead track for Muddy Waters 2. 

Fans have been anticipating the project for 15 years. Redman told AllHipHop.com way back in 2007 that the album was on the way. “I’m getting back into [the studio] with Muddy Waters 2,” he revealed. “I already did two songs for it.”

Diddy Dumps Adidas & Sides With Kanye West Amid Feud

Diddy declared he’s boycotting Adidas due to Kanye West’s grievances with the company.

Kanye West continued to air out his issues with Adidas via social media over Labor Day weekend. Diddy reacted to the situation by backing ‘Ye in an Instagram post on Tuesday (September 6).

“Since the era of Run-DMC, @Adidas has always used Hip Hop to build its brand and make billions off of our culture,” Diddy wrote. “BUT WE ARE MORE THAN JUST CONSUMERS NOW, WE’RE THE OWNERS.”

Diddy continued, “@KanyeWest and YEEZY are the reason Adidas is relevant to culture. WE KNOW OUR VALUE! I’m done wearing Adidas products until they make this right!! We have to support each other!! Everybody repost this please!!”

Earlier this year, Kanye West accused Adidas of copying the design of his Yeezy slides for the company’s Adilette 22 slides. Last month, he blasted Adidas for allegedly making various moves without his approval.

A few days ago, Kanye West started sharing photos of the company’s board members. He called out Adidas’ chief creative officer Alasdhair Willis and received Diddy’s support on Tuesday. Later that day, ‘Ye asked his fans to back off Alasdhair Willis.

“TO ALL THE YE FANS PLEASE TAKE DOWN ANY MEME OF ALASDHAIR,” ‘Ye wrote. “I BELIEVE THIS IS A GOOD GUY AND HE WILL ACTUALLY CALL ME AND ACTUALLY HELP.”

Kanye West also expressed appreciation for Diddy’s boycott.

Tiffany Haddish & Aries Spears Should Be Thrown In Jail, Says Jane Doe Accuser

An unnamed woman called for the arrests of Tiffany Haddish and Aries Spears after suing them for alleged child sexual abuse.

According to multiple reports, the Jane Doe behind the lawsuit asked the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office to “immediately arrest and prosecute” the comedians. The woman and her brother are willing to speak to authorities about their allegations against Tiffany Haddish and Aries Spears.

“This matter’s breadth and complexity require your jurisdictional powers and resources to tackle and end the stream depravity committed by Haddish and Spears,” Jane Doe wrote in a letter to the District Attorney’s Office. “My brother and I are prepared to speak with investigators and prosecutors from your office and provide you with irrefutable evidence that substantiates our allegations.”

Last week, the 22-year-old woman filed a lawsuit against Tiffany Haddish and Aries Spears. She accused them of recruiting a then 14-year-old Jane Doe and her then 7-year-old brother to film sexually suggestive videos.

The accuser said she had to mimic performing oral sex in a skit for Tiffany Haddish. Jane Doe’s lawsuit accused Aries Spears of molesting her brother while filming a sketch called “Through a Pedophile’s Eyes.”

Tiffany Haddish’s lawyer claimed Jane Doe’s mother tried to “assert these bogus claims against Ms. Haddish for several years.” Aries Spears’ lawyer said he “isn’t going to fall for any shakedown.”

Both comedians faced backlash over the accusations. Tiffany Haddish addressed the allegations in a statement on Monday (September 5).

“I know people have a bunch of questions,” she wrote via social media. “I get it. I’m right there with you. Unfortunately, because there is an ongoing legal case, there’s very little that I can say right now. But clearly, while this sketch was intended to be comedic, it wasn’t funny at all — and I deeply regret having agreed to act in it. I really look forward to being able to share a lot more about this situation as soon as I can.”

Lil Yachty Enters Frozen Pizza Market With Line Sold Exclusively At Walmart

Lil Yachty launched his own line of frozen pizza.

The 25-year-old rapper’s brand is called Yachty’s Pizzeria. Lil Yachty’s frozen pizza is available exclusively at Walmart.

“I’ve loved making and eating pizza my whole life, so this is a project I’m really excited about and have been for a long time,” Lil Yachty said in a press release. “We made some wild flavors but there’s still something for everybody. I take my pizza seriously so I’m looking forward to seeing what people think,”

Lil Yachty created Yachty’s Pizzeria with the help of Universal Music Group for Brands. Richelieu Foods manufactures the frozen pizza line.

Damon Dash Family Battle With COVID Causes Courtroom WAR

Dame Dash clashed with attorney Christopher Brown as the Hip Hop mogul awaits trial for a sexual assault lawsuit.

According to court documents obtained by AllHipHop, Dame Dash asked a judge to delay the proceedings. His fiancée and co-defendant Raquel Horn tested positive for COVID-19 on Sunday (September 4).

The trial was scheduled to begin on Wednesday (September 7).

“Raquel Horn has tested positive for COVID-19 and is experiencing a full range of symptoms,” Dame Dash’s attorney Michael S. Traylor said. “Raquel Horn and Damon Dash are now quarantined in Chicago due to the forgoing.”

Traylor continued, “As a result, [Dame Dash and Horn] are unable to proceed with the defense of the matter on September 7, 2022 and are requesting a trial continuance in order to allow the defendants to recover. Defendants respectfully request that the Court set a Trial Setting / Scheduling Conference in approximately 30-45 days to determine potential trial dates.”

But Brown, a nemesis to Dame Dash in recent years, was skeptical. The attorney cited Dame Dash’s Instagram posts, which displayed his activity when he was supposedly quarantining.

“Frankly I don’t believe them,” Brown said. “We addressed a COVID situation in the past. I will not agree to a continuance for several reasons. First, Mr. Dash does not have covid and can come to Court. Second, I don’t believe Ms. Horn and it is clear that your clients have been traveling the country without any COVID precautions for the last week.”

He added, “I wondered if they intended to appear in Court. At this point, I believe I have my answer. They never intended to be here.”

Brown brought up the couple’s plans to attend an upcoming film festival In New Jersey. He also accused Dame Dash of perjury.

“Dash was not quarantining on September 5, 2022,” Brown said. “He was socializing and signing a perjurious declaration to avoid trial in Los Angeles. If Horn truly had Covid-19 on September 4, 2022, Dash’s attendance at and hosting of an event on September 5, 2022, maskless, is a heartless act designed to spread Covid-19 and harm others.”

Brown is the lawyer for photographer Monique Bunn, who is suing Dame Dash for allegedly groping her in 2019. Brown has represented multiple clients who’ve brought legal action against Dame Dash, who once called the attorney a “culture vulture” in a contentious deposition.

Lebron James And Drake Sued For $10 Million Over New Black Hockey Documentary

A $10 million lawsuit has been filed against NBA All-Star Lebron James, rapper Drake and entertainment mogul Future (Drizzy’s partner) over the rights of their new hockey documentary title, “Black Ice.”

According to the NY Post, the former head of the NBA Players Association, Billy Hunter, recently filed the claim in Manhattan state Supreme Court.

Listed in the filing are The Springhill Company and Uninterrupted Canada, Dreamcrew Entertainment, Stryker Indigo and First Take Entertainment, a film production company.

The lawsuit comes days before the documentary, directed by the Academy Award-nominated director Hubert Davis, is set to debut at the Toronto International Film Festival on Saturday, September 10th.

Hunter, 79, alleges he is the only one with exclusive legal rights to produce any film about the Colored Hockey League of the Maritimes, a sporting organization that existed for 35 years between 1895 to the 1930s.

The former federal prosecutor is suing the three not only for $10 million but is seeking to participate in the profits from the documentary.

The complaint says, “While the defendants LeBron James, Drake, and Maverick Carter [LeBron’s business partner] are internationally known and renowned in their respective fields of basketball and music, it does not afford them the right to steal another’s intellectual property.”

He believes James and Drake, whose real name is Aubrey Graham, cut a deal behind his back with the authors of “Black Ice: The Lost History of the Colored Hockey League of the Maritimes, 1895 to 1925,” George and Darril Fosty.

He also has listed them on the lawsuit, as Hunter reportedly paid the Fostys $265,000 for the movie rights. The Fostys believed Hunter only had the rights to a scripted project, not a documentary.

“A documentary is still a ‘motion picture’ and an ‘audiovisual adaptation’ and any claim to the contrary is absurd and made in bad faith,” Hutcher explains in the suit, suggesting James paid the Fostys six figures to breach their contract with him. 

“The Uninterrupted defendants paid those sums to induce the Authors to breach their Agreement with Plaintiff.”

Now, they will see each other in court.

Hunter said, “I don’t think they believed the property rights would be litigated. They thought I would go away. They gambled.”

Reps for James, Drake, and the Fostys and their firms have not commented.
