Lost Boy Entertainment Is Setting The Industry Standard For Record Labels

When you look at the music industry’s environment, it’s clear that it was one of the most affected industries due to the problems that the worldwide epidemic has brought upon the world as we know it. Live concerts have been placed on hold with no indication of when they will resume. This resulted in a significant change in attention toward streaming platforms, with more music being distributed via social media sites like Tik Tok, Thriller, and Instagram than ever before. Many artists have failed to adjust and are not receiving the support they require from their companies in order to achieve success with their most recent albums. However, this is not the case for Lost Boy Entertainment’s artists.

Stove God Cooks Drops Video for “That’s The Game” While on Tour with Conway The Machine

Hailing from Syracuse, rapper Stove God Cooks uses his lyrical genius and distinct delivery patterns to separate himself from the surplus of talent in the game. He’s an artist who naturally stands out – the confidence and attitude he brings on the mic is intimidating and unrivaled by his peers. He put together a masterful performance on his debut project, “Reasonable Drought,” which has earned him a fiercely loyal fan base.

With co-signs from mainstream media outlets like Billboard, Complex, DJ Booth, and many more, it’s no secret that he has the recipe to be hip-hop’s next breakthrough act. After his successful collaboration with French Montana on his first single of this year, “Dope,” the Babygrande artist has returned with his latest track / video, “That’s The Game.”

Directed by GT Films, the video for “That’s The Game” provides viewers with a full cinematic experience. Cooks’ calm, composed demeanor creates an aura to draw the viewer in, but it’s his talent that leaves an impression.

Quick cuts and imaginative shots bring the track to life, while Cooks moves through a mansion littered with money and illicit substances. The video feels like a culmination of Cooks’ come up – having gone through trials and tribulations to get where he is, Cooks knows that his time is now.

The Samba Beatz-produced track shows Cooks’ depth as an artist. He won’t be confined to one style; rather, he’s experimenting sonically and embarks on a new journey with “That’s The Game.” A soulful, yet upbeat piano progression sets the tone of the track, and as Cooks steps in, he immediately finds his pocket, hitting infectious melodies while addressing the downsides to fame.

Lyrically, Cooks is at the forefront of hip-hop – his clever wordplay and delivery have helped him establish a close relationship with a few of hip-hop’s most lyrical talents, like Westside Gunn and Conway The Machine. However, with each of his new releases, he vies for mainstream recognition and shows he can go toe-to-toe with anyone in today’s game. It was these qualities that inspired Chuck Wilson, Babygrande Global CEO and Chairman, to pursue a deal with Cooks.

I got a call from my friend Lord Jamar of Brand Nubian who told me that I had to hear this new artist named Stove God Cooks,” Wilson recounts. “After listening to his ‘Reasonable Drought’ album produced entirely by Roc Marciano, I knew instantly that I was listening to an elite, once-in-a-generation lyricist that could also write and sing hooks as catchy and as soulful as any artist I had ever heard before. Soon thereafter, I offered Cooks the largest record deal in the 20 year history of the company and we closed the deal. I can’t wait for the world to hear all of the great music that he’s recorded for his next album.”

Cooks has steadily grown a nationwide audience, which is how he’s earned the right to tour with Conway The Machine on his “Love Will Get You Killed” tour. Cooks isdirect support for Conway throughout the entire tour, creating excitement for the track and attracting plenty of new fans along the way.

The Rock Debuts Banging Rap Song With Tech N9ne, King Iso, And Joey Cool

There is a Black and Samoan rapper that just dropped his first rap single and it is not Jey the Nitewing.

It is the one and only box office hitmaker, Dwayne Johnson.

Don’t raise your eyebrow in suspicion! Just smell what The Rock is cooking.

The Rock has conquered the wrestling world, movies, TV, spirit beverages, apparel/ merch and has even hinted at politics. Now, out of nowhere, he is dabbling in Hip-Hop — and guess what he kinda got a bop!

He teamed up with independent rap stars on Strange Music, Tech N9ne, King Iso, and Joey Cool, to produce the song “Face Off.”

The former WWE superstar captioned on Instagram, “Pumped (and humbled) to drop MY FIRST RAP SONG with my brothers, the GOAT @therealtechn9ne 🐐 @therealkingiso @_joey_cool These are some bad dudes in the game and I’m honored to add a little Rock gasoline⛽️💪🏾 to their FIRE 🔥🔥🔥”

Adding, “Im excited for you to hear this song and I think you’re gonna dig it….”

“Face Off” is a song about being a champion and pushing yourself to the ultimate limit. He wanted you to hear it, so, check it out.

The Rock’s part drops in at 2:58.

He spits with a rapid flow, saying in his verse, “It’s about tribe. It’s about power/ We stay hungry, we devour/ Put in the work, put in the hours and take what’s ours.”

“Black and Samoan in my veins/my culture bangin’ with Strange/ I change the game/ so what’s my m###########’ name (Rock)!” he continued.

“(What they gonna get though?) Desecration/ defamation/ if you wanna bring it to the masses/ Face to face now we escalatin’/ when I have to put boots to a####” he raps before switching his flow again, “Mean on ya’/ like a dream when I’m rumblin’, you’re gonna scream, “Mama”/ So bring drama/ to the king Brahma /(Then what?), comin’ at ya’ with extreme mana (Ahoo, ahoo, ahoo)”

https://twitter.com/beneathdirt/status/1446245051487686660?s=20

In a quick clip that is circulating on social, he seems to be working out and rocking his new gear called “Outlaw Mana.”

Perhaps the song, as we know The Rock is a businessman, is another form of promotion — his answer to a jingle for his product.

What would you expect? He IS one of the biggest stars that ever walked the planet. So, why not drop a full club-ready banger??!!!

Jimmy Henchman Could Be Released From Prison Thanks To Former President Donald Trump

Imprisoned music executive James “Jimmy Henchman” Rosemond claims he should be a free man – thanks to President Donald Trump.

Rosemond’s lawyers are testing the constitutionality and the process of the President’s pardoning powers in an unprecedented new legal argument.

Henchman, born James Rosemond, is serving nine life sentences after he was convicted of numerous drug offenses and ordering the murder of one of 50 Cent’s friends, Lowell “Lodi Mack” Fletcher.

Rosemond maintains that he was the scapegoat of overzealous prosecutors since he was never caught with the drugs.

He also denied arranging the murder of Fletcher, who was convicted of slapping Rosemond’s then 14-year-old son as G-Unit unit members – including Tony Yayo – watched and encouraged the assault.

Rosemond claimed he only hired his associates to “bring” Fletcher to him and never ordered the killing.

In January of 2015, Rosemond sought clemency from the Obama administration, and he continued his efforts when President Trump was elected.

Various celebrities and athletes supported Rosemond’s attempts, including Akon, Queen Latifah, Wyclef Jean, Mike Tyson, and late actor Michael K. Williams.

In addition to the above, legendary Hall of Fame football player Jim Brown lobbied the Trump administration on behalf of Rosemond.

Jim Brown maintains that he was invited to the White House in October 2018 with his wife, Monique Brown. There, they discussed Rosemond’s case and urged the President to grant him clemency.

Over the next several years, the Browns went to the White House to address Rosemond’s clemency on three separate occasions.

According to affidavits signed by Jim Brown and his wife Monique, on December 18th, 2020, President Trump called the Browns and proclaimed he had decided to commute Rosemond’s sentence to time served.

On the call, President Trump told the Browns and other people in the room with him that he had looked at everything and wanted to “get this guy home for Christmas.”

However, unlike rappers like Kodak Black and Lil Wayne, whom President Trump pardoned, James Rosemond was never freed.

According to his lawyers, President Trump never sent a record of the communication to the Warden of USP Hazleton, where Rosemond is serving his life nine sentences.

President Trump left the White House in January of 2021, and Rosemond’s attempts to make the Biden Administration act on his commutation have been unsuccessful.

Rosemond’s lawyers say Trump completed an irrevocable act of clemency by publicly communicating the clemency decision.

They also argue that the form of an act of clemency does not matter so long as the President communicates it publicly.

Experts say the President can issue an act of clemency in any form he wants – including writing, a phone call, a television broadcast, a social media post, or “by sticking his head out the window and yelling it out on the street.”

His lawyers claim Trump’s decision is irrevocable and that Rosemond, who managed artists like Game, Brandy, Gucci Mane, and others, is unjustly imprisoned.

According to experts who spoke to the Washington Post, Henchman may have a real chance of being released from prison.

“They’ve got a good point, which is that the constitution does not set out a method to the granting of clemency,” said Mark Osler, a professor of law at the University of St. Thomas and Minnesota.

A judge has yet to rule on the case.

Fellow Comedian Michael Blackson Accuses Dave Chappelle Of Snitching On DaBaby

Michael Blackson thinks Dave Chappelle did DaBaby no favors by bringing up the rapper’s involvement in a fatal shooting.

In a series of tweets, Michael Blackson reacted to his fellow comedian’s remarks about the Interscope Records artist in the new Netflix special The Closer. In Blackson’s eyes, Dave Chappelle did more harm than good for DaBaby.

“Dave Chapelle did not help Da Baby at all smh lol,” Blackson wrote on Twitter. “Dave Chapelle low key snitched on DaBaby.”

Michael Blackson also suggested the LBGTQ community was unaware of DaBaby’s past.

“The LGBT did not know he killed anyone, now they hate him even more lol,” he wrote. “LGBT it was self defense.”

Dave Chappelle complained about DaBaby facing more heat for making homophobic comments than killing a man in The Closer.

“He once shot a n#### and killed him in Walmart,” Chappelle said in the special. “Oh, this is true, Google it. DaBaby shot and killed a n#### in Walmart in North Carolina. Nothing bad happened to his career. Do you see where I’m going with this? In our country, you can shoot and kill a n####, but you better not hurt a gay person’s feelings.”

DaBaby shot and killed 19-year-old Jalyn Craig in 2018. He claimed it was an act of self-defense, but he was charged with carrying a concealed weapon in connection to the deadly shooting. The charges were dropped in 2019.

Dave Chappelle has been embroiled in controversy since releasing The Closer. The National Black Justice Coalition called on Netflix to remove the special, blasting the company for giving a platform to transphobia and homophobia.

Jaclyn Moore, who served as a producer/showrunner for Netflix’s Dear White People, said she’d no longer work with the streaming service “as long as they continue to put out and profit from blatantly and dangerously transphobic content.”

The Kid LAROI Refuses To Address His Relationship With Lil Bibby

Brandon “Lil Bibby” Dickinson and George “G-Money” Dickinson played important roles in the rise of Charlton “The Kid LAROI” Howard. The Dickinson brothers’ Grade A Productions reportedly signed Howard to a management deal in 2019.

Grade A’s flagship act, the late Juice WRLD, even took The Kid LAROI on tour with him that same year. It appears the F*ck Love mixtape creator is no longer associated with Lil Bibby and G-Money.

The Kid LAROI was asked about his connection to Grade A during an interview with Billboard for the outlet’s 21 Under 21 issue. However, LAROI, his publicity team, and Columbia Records representatives refused to address the 18-year-old recording artist’s current relationship with Lil Bibby.

Josh Glicksman reports:

LAROI tagged along with the team for Juice’s Death Race for Love Tour, often staying in adjoining hotel rooms with Grade A partner Peter Jideonwo. But the relationship soured, though Columbia declines to comment on why, and Jideonwo stopped responding to Billboard interview requests. LAROI, when asked about Grade A, says, “we won’t talk about them,” and when I ask if he’s at all in touch with Bibby anymore, his publicist shuts down the conversation.

The Kid LAROI Breaks With Scooter Braun

Additionally, The Kid LAROI parted ways with Scooter Braun’s SB Projects company. Braun is best known for managing Pop superstars Justin Bieber and Ariana Grande.

The Kid LAROI and Justin Bieber teamed up for the global smash “Stay.” The collaboration spent six nonconsecutive weeks at #1 on the Hot 100 chart in 2021.

“LAROI is a brilliant artist, and I wish him and his family nothing but the best,” Scooter Braun told Billboard. “I’m proud of the historic success we had together in our short time — I am rooting for him always, and he knows that.”

The Kid LAROI is now associated with Adam Leber’s Rebel Management. It is still unclear how much Lil Bibby is still involved in the Australian performer’s career at the moment.

As recently as August of this year, Grade A’s Instagram page congratulated The Kid LAROI for “Stay” going Number One. Prior to the apparent split, LAROI appeared on posthumous songs by Juice WRLD including “Hate the Other Side” and “Reminds Me Of You.”

Doja Cat Expresses Feeling “Tired” & “Not Happy”

Doja Cat has had a very busy 2021. She released her third studio LP Planet Her, made a guest appearance on Lil Dicky’s Dave television series, and hosted the 2021 MTV Video Music Awards.

The consistent work seems to be weighing on Doja Cat. The 25-year-old Californian took to Twitter to express her frustrations before she removed the posts.

Doja Cat reportedly wrote:

I’m just tired and I don’t want to do anything. I’m not happy. I’m done saying yes to m############ cuz I can’t even have a week to just chill. I’m never not working. I’m f###### tired. Alex is getting old he’s 68 years old and I can’t even be there for him. I wanna be alone. It’s not anybody else’s fault but mine anyway I just keep agreeing to s### I don’t wanna do in the future. It’s my own dumb-ass fault. And then I’m too tired to put any effort into this s### cuz I’m so run down from everything else.

@DojaCat

Those complaints are no longer on Doja Cat’s Twitter page. Her most recent present tweet from October 6 reads, “Getting on Live in 5 minutes to do look with my new BH Cosmetics drop. See u🤓.”

One Twitter user replied to that tweet by asking Doja Cat if she was okay. Another user suggested Doja appeared to be “down.” The “Kiss Me More” singer simply responded with a “:\” emoticon which typically signifies confusion or indecision.

Doja Cat Found Commerical Success With The ‘Hot Pink’ & ‘Planet Her’ Albums

Planet Her became Doja Cat’s highest-charting album when it debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 chart in July. The RCA-released project has remained in the Top 10 for 14 weeks. Her catalog also includes 2018’s Amala and 2019’s Hot Pink.

Three singles from Planet Her – “Kiss Me More” (#3), “You Right” featuring The Weeknd (#11), and “Need to Know” (#14) – peaked in the Top 20 of the Hot 100 chart. She also reached the Top 5 as a contributor to Ariana Grande’s “34+35 (Remix)” along with Megan Thee Stallion.

Hot Pink was Doja Cat’s breakout album. “Say So” featuring Nicki Minaj topped the Hot 100 rankings in 2020. “Streets” went viral on social media as part of the #SilhouetteChallenge before Doja published the track’s official music video starring Kofi Siriboe.

Dave Chappelle: “If This Is What Being Canceled Is About, I Love It”

Once again, Dave Chappelle sparked a lot of conversation following the release of his most recent stand-up comedy special. Netflix premiered The Closer on October 5.

The National Black Justice Coalition Wants ‘The Closer’ Removed From Netflix

LGBTQ organizations have expressed outrage over some of Chappelle’s comments. For example, the National Black Justice Coalition called for Netflix to remove The Closer from its platform over concerns that Dave Chappelle is allegedly promoting anti-trans and anti-gay sentiments.

“With 2021 on track to be the deadliest year on record for transgender people in the United States — the majority of whom are Black transgender people — Netflix should know better. Perpetuating transphobia perpetuates violence,” stated David Johns, National Black Justice Coalition’s Executive Director.

Johns added, “Make no mistake: Black LGBTQ+ and same-gender people exist – and have always existed. The fight against oppression is not a zero-sum game, and the pervasiveness of white supremacy in the United States is not an excuse for homophobia or transphobia.”

Dave Chappelle Embraces Being “Canceled”

Some critics’ biggest issue with Dave Chappelle’s The Closer is a section where the Washington, DC native embraced the TERF (Trans-Exclusionary Radical Feminist) movement. Many LGBTQ supporters consider TERF to be transphobic because of its supposed opposition to transgender rights legislation.

According to Deadline, Dave Chappelle addressed the calls for his brand of comedy being barred while hosting a screening of his upcoming documentary on Thursday. Chappelle is quoted telling the crowd of 18,000 attendees, “If this is what being canceled is about, I love it.”

Dominic Patten’s article also claimed Dave Chappelle told the audience at the Hollywood Bowl that Americans have to “trust one another.” Plus, Chappelle reportedly took a shot at social media detractors by declaring, “F### Twitter,” but he also pushed for a “kindness conspiracy.”

There Are Still A Lot Of People Supporting Dave Chappelle

While Dave Chappelle has plenty of faultfinders ready to cancel him, the 48-year-old Mark Twain Prize recipient garnered a lot of support at his Los Angeles event. Stevie Wonder, Nas, Snoop Dogg, Talib Kweli, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Lizzo, and other celebrities were reportedly in attendance.

The Closer is currently the #4 most-watched program on Netflix in the United States. Previously, Chappelle presented the Netflix specials The Age of SpinDeep In The Heart of Texas, Equanimity, The Bird Revelation, and Sticks & Stones.

Logic Reflects On Covering His Traumatic Childhood In ‘This Bright Future’ Memoir

Bobby “Logic” Hall II is best known for being a Maryland-bred rapper with multiple RIAA plaques, but the 31-year-old entertainer is also a best-selling author.

Following his 2019 novel Supermarket topping the New York Times’ Paperback Trade Fiction Best Sellers list, Logic released a non-fiction book this year. Hall’s This Bright Future: A Memoir arrived in book stores on September 7.

One month later, Logic made an appearance on The Daily Show with Trevor Noah to talk about his autobiography. The conversation centered around the No Pressure album creator reflecting on his tumultuous childhood.

“They always say it’s nature versus nurture. I obviously wasn’t nurtured. I think it’s just that common sense and God,” replied Logic when asked about avoiding some of the personal downfalls of his family members.

He continued, “I see my brothers cooking crack, I see my brothers selling crack to my dad. I see people running around, shooting guns, doing all these things, and I’m like, ‘Oh, don’t do that’ – where other people would kind of follow that path.”

Logic went on to talk about his complicated relationship with his birth mother. The performer, also known as Young Sinatra, admitted that while he loves his mother, they have not spoken to each other in over ten years.

“She’s a broken person, so nothing I’m saying right now is to attack her. But yeah, she was kind of crazy,” said Logic about his mom.

On his father, Logic stated, “I find that we were actually more similar when I was younger because of the immaturity level. And once again, I don’t say this to s### on my dad. It’s just the truth, and it’s very difficult.”

Logic announced his retirement from making music last year in order to be a “great father.” The Def Jam recording artist quickly made his comeback in 2021 with the Bobby Tarantino III project.

Texas Principal Apologizes After Complaining Black Students Dressed Like “Dr. Dre from the ’90s”

A Texas principal is facing heavy criticism and has been forced to issue an apology after complaining that Black students came to the school’s “’90s Throwback Day” looking like “Dr. Dre from the ’90s.”

Anthony LiVechhi, Principal Oak Ridge High School in Houston was caught on video making the comments and allegedly was heard to say the students “looked like criminals.”

“It’s embarrassing. It’s frustrating. We have people posing for pictures looking like they’re Dr. Dre from the ’90s. I’m not sure that’s the look we’re going for. It doesn’t make our school look good,” LiVechhi said in the recording, featured in the clip below.

The students were rightly upset at their principal’s comments and spoke to the station.

“(It’s) kind of downplaying on the way my mom and dad dressed when they were in school,” senior Nekia Baker told KPRC 2.

“The analogy of comparing us to Dr. Dre was used to bring us down and to degrade the way we were dressing and to degrade our school spirit and our 90s day,” junior Nia Dixon said.

One of the school’s athletes, student Trinidad Robinson, told the station:

“I run track. I have some records for the school, and when we were walking by, he said y’all look like criminals. I’m like, how is us dressing and expressing predominantly ’90s and 2000s Black culture equated to being a criminal?”

On Monday, concerned parents held a meeting with school officials supported by activist Quanell X. Roughly 100 students also attended, kneeling in solidarity. LiVecchi issued an apology during the meeting, “I love you all. That’s not how you need to be treated. It won’t happen again.”

There were claims from students of racist remarks and terrorist threats made in person and on social media while the meeting was taking place. Quanell X said that law enforcement is investigating and wants legal action to be taken against those involved.

“Those young children have a victory today because that principal did go before them and apologize for what he said and how he handled the situation,” he said.

The principal made his disparaging comments on the same day Dr. Dre was announced as one of the Super Bowl 2022 Half Time Show performers.

Fellow rising Hip Hop star Baby Keem made an appearance on Don Toliver’s “OUTERSPACE” track. They also collaborated for Keem’s The Melodic Blue album. Toliver praised the California rapper during his interview with Zane Lowe.

Concern is growing for Kodak Black after he tweeted a series of worrying messages before deactivating his social media.

Last month TMZ reported that Kodak Black was ordered to spend 90 days in a treatment program after violating the terms of his probation for failing a drug test. The news came a day after Kodak’s lawyer posted a video of his client speaking about the ills of drugs in a Broward County Courtroom. Though the video has no sound his lawyer, Bradford Cohen noted what he said in the caption.

“Kodak speaks to a Broward Courtroom of individuals dealing with addiction problems. He speaks about his own battles and issues and the things he feels are important to a sober life. I believe this is all part of the process of healing. There are missteps along the way, but people should always realize that the first step is wanting to get better.”

“Sorry about the sound but he says that addiction affects white black poor and rich and he realizes that it has affected his relationships and business in the past and he knows that a sober life is one that is better and healthier,” he wrote.
