Between Fat Joe and Ja Rule, I don’t know who has worse business sense.
Everyone and their mother knows that, in addition to being the Reek to 50 Cent’s Ramsay Bolton, Ja Rule was front-and-center of that Fyre Festival disaster. So complete was the destruction from the Fyre Festival that its co-founder, Billy McFarland, is currently sitting in a federal penitentiary, and the phrase has since been used to describe festivals and concerts that are so disastrous that not even Black Jesus Himself can save them. (Like the “MobMovieCon,” for instance. Ice-T, what were you thinking, man?)
Then there’s Fat Joe.
In addition to (allegedly) still holding on to Big Pun’s royalties — so much so that Liza Rios, Pun’s widow, frequently takes to Instagram to drag Joey Crack’s slimmed-down tuchas from here to Teaneck tothis day — the man born Joseph Cartagena is a proud spokesperson for a world-infamous pyramid scheme.
“This unbelievable YouTube video shows Joseph “Fat Joe” Cartagena speaking at an international convention for MarketAmerica, the parent company for Shop.com, a seemingly innocent website that sells thousands of everyday products like vitamins, groceries, safari hats, laser printers, and Hunger Games Halloween costumes,” reports The Hundreds. “The goal of Joe’s video, however, is not to sell you these individual products, but to sell you on becoming a “shop consultant,” someone who, beyond the product sales, promotes the website and relies mostly on signing up others to join in as “consultants,” thus creating a very familiar pyramid, where the earned money trickles down based on the recruitment. Also, you have to pay a set-up fee, a yearly fee, and a monthly fee to sell the items.”
*in my Cardi B voice* That’s suspicious. That’s weird.
We may as well call this Verzuz “the battle of the scam artists.”
Quavo from the Atlanta group Migos is saying that he and his groupmates invented the “triplet flow style” in rap music. However, fans immediately checked him, urging him to really consider going back to review some Hip-Hop history.
In an interview with Taylor Rooks, the “Versace Versace” rapper said, “The triplet flow for sure. Yea, the triplet flow. Wasn’t nobody doing it before we came in and right now everybody’s doing it and it’s a blessing.”
Rooks shared that David Banner, another respected rapper, once said that people “jack” Migos’ style of flow and don’t give them the credit that they deserve. Quavo agreed, “They just don’t want to give credit. You don’t want to come in being new and say you took somebody’s style or say you got the style or that you were influenced by too many young people cause you don’t know how people will take it, so it’s all good.”
One of the groups that pioneered “triplet flow style” could be said to be the Cleveland, Ohio-based rap group, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony. When Eazy E put them on in the mid-90s, shortly after Quavo was born, they revolutionized the tempo that lyrics are rapped on a song and were the origins of the triplet flow.
Eric Alper even believes that Three 6 Mafia also utilized this device in their song compositions… so it would be impossible for it to have originated with the Migos group.
Here is a real breakdown of the ethnomusicological dynamics and history of the rap style.
Fans also, without the scholarship listed above, recalled the influence of their favorite 90s rappers.
It is important that rappers know their history. It’s about carrying a legacy and expanding it.
Jay-Z is finally settling the ‘Dinner with Hova or $500k’ debate once and for all.
And LLC Twitter is about to take another L.
You may recall that, a few days ago, a Twitter user by the name of @ProfitWithAnt decided to try to scam y’all out of your hard-earned money drop what he thought was some knowledge about the whole “Dinner with Jay-Z” debate.
According to this idiot genius, a steak dinner with Shawn Carter where Hova is going to stick you with the bill is worth more than half a million dollars (which can also buy you this nice house in Massapequa, NY, with no mortgage, but don’t go by me, because I actually have more than a few college degrees).
So anyway, Struggle Profit with Ant suggested that one go homeless so one can sit in the same room with Jay-Z and “absorb some knowledge,” even though there are countless people around Hova that don’t make that kind of money in one year with him.
I’ll explain since most can’t comprehend
Dinner with Jay-Z is the better option over $500K because of the knowledge & expertise he has. He’ll give you the blueprint on being wealthy and successful. His knowledge will be worth more long term than the short term $500K.
Well, apparently, Hova heard the “Song Cry” (!) and decided that anybody who even thought to take this advice was a f##king idiot. And in case you still weren’t sure he felt that way, he decided to spell it out for you in black and white:
It’s not every day that we see Jay-Z call LLC Twitter idiots for being this stupid with their money. But on the days that we see it, it’s nothing short of magic.
As the prosecution wrapped up their case in the R. Kelly racketeering, sex trafficking, and sexual abuse trial, disturbing news was revealed by a witness named “Angela” about the late R&B singer. She said that she walked in on the “Age Ain’t Nothing But A Number” singer and her mentor engaged in a sexual act, before her 14th birthday.
While she was in high school, back in the early 90s, Angela met the singer and producer. She wanted to be in an all-girl singing group produced by R. Kelly. Kelly used this desire as a carrot to get the girl to have sex with him. He told her this was the dues that she had to pay to be successful. She said, “He told us we had to pay our dues. It was a requirement to come around.”
Their first sexual experience was in his home with two other girls. The next times she would sleep with him would be in his studio, home, and on the road. Despite the girl group dream never manifesting, he did make her one of his background dancers and she traveled with him on tour by the time she was 16.
In January of 1992, Angela testified that she met his new protégé Aaliyah. She said she met her on her 13th birthday.
She further said that she “saw Robert and Aaliyah in a sexual situation” around that time.
She shared that sometime between 1992 and 1993, she walked in on R. Kelly performing c########## on the young teen. To put this in perspective, 12 or 13 is the average age for an 8th grader in Junior High School/ Middle School in America. According to studies by David Finkelhor, Director of the Crimes Against Children Research Center, children are most vulnerable to child sexual abuse between the ages of 7 and 13.
Another worker for R. Kelly said that they saw the two singers romantically connected. This revelation was made during the Surviving R. Kelly series on Lifetime. Jovante Cunningham, a former backup singer/dancer, told the show’s producers that she also walked in on R. Kelly and Aaliyah when they were in the back of a company’s tour bus. Angela, which is not the witness’ real name, gave a testimony that is incredibly close to Cunningham.
However, Aaliyah’s mother, then, released a statement after the debut of her episode of the series that dismissed the account by calling it “lies and fabrications.”
“My husband and I were always on tour with [Aaliyah] and at interviews and every place she went throughout her entire career,” she said in a statement. “Whoever this woman is [who is making the allegations], I have never seen her before anywhere on planet earth, until now.”
R. Kelly and Aaliyah’s marriage certificate, seen here in an image, was issued by Cook County, Ill., in 1994.
Angela said she stopped performing with the GRAMMY Award-winning artist in the 90s, and refuse to talk about their sexual relationship because she was “embarrassed.”
Aaliyah Haughton and R. Kelly were married in 1994. Aaliyah was 15 and the Pied Piper of R&B was 27.
Veteran entertainer Nick Cannon made headlines in the aftermath of the MTV Video Music Awards on Sunday. The 40-year-old Wild ‘n Out creator’s all-white outfit and faux locs caused a lot of commotion on the red carpet.
However, Nick Cannon took to Instagram to tell his 5.1 million followers that the man photographed at the VMAs was not him. The “Gigolo” rapper joked that he was mistaken for a new artist who goes by Murda Count Harlem.
Cannon posted on Instagram:
Usually, I don’t address this social media gossip but after my name was trending WORLDWIDE again for something I didn’t do, I have to say y’all trippin on this on! I have a brand new Talk show coming out September 27th! Why would I go to the VMA’s like this!? I heard this some corny new rapper named @MurdaCountHarlem I see no resemblance #respectfully.”

The @murdacountharlem Instagram account presently has more than 8,800 followers, but the page has yet to add any posts. Murda Count Harlem’s IG bio reads, “Six time platinum recording Rapper 💯 The one and only MURDAAAAA.”
Jonathan “Blueface” Porter could be facing serious legal ramifications. The “Thotiana” rapper is accused of brutally attacking a doorman at the Skinny’s Lounge in San Fernando Valley, California on Sunday.
According to TMZ, Blueface and three other men were filmed assaulting the club’s bouncer. Apparently, the LA native’s crew was upset that Blueface was not let into the Los Angeles County establishment without proper identification.
The entertainment news outlet has published surveillance footage of the incident. In the video, several people can be seen hitting another man multiple times.
Someone who resembles Blueface then kicks the man as he is on the floor. As the group of attackers surrounds the prone man, a woman appears to be recording the situation with her cell phone.
The doorman was reportedly taken to the hospital where he received stitches for his injuries. Photos show several bruises and gashes on the man’s face. His shirt was covered with blood.
Local law enforcement is said to be investigating the incident and a battery report was filed. While no official word that a civil lawsuit is currently pending, it is still very likely that Blueface could face litigation from the alleged victim.
Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter earned his first of four Number Ones on the Hot 100 chart as a guest feature on Mariah Carey’s 1999 single “Heartbreaker.” The two music legends now have more in common when it comes to the Billboard charts.
This week, Jay-Z scored his twenty-second Top 10 hit. The Brooklyn-raised billionaire landed at #10 on this week’s chart thanks to his contribution on Drake’s Certified Lover Boy track “Love All.”
Jay-Z now has scored a Top 10 hit in the last four decades. He joins Mariah Carey on a very exclusive list of solo artists that have managed to make it into that chart region in the 1990s, 2000s, 2010s, and 2020s.
Jay-Z's feature on @Drake's "Love All" (No. 10) earns him 22nd career top 10 hit and first since his feature on @Beyonce's "Drunk In Love" in 2014 (No. 2 peak).
He joins @MariahCarey as the only artists with top 10 hits in the 90s, 00s, 10s and 20s.
“Love All” is Jay-Z’s first Top 10 hit since 2014 when Beyoncé’s “Drunk in Love” featuring her husband peaked at #2. The Roc Nation founder also earned his 103rd Hot 100 entry with “Love All” which places him in the tenth position all-time.
Furthermore, Jay-Z currently holds the record for most #1 albums by a Hip Hop artist and most #1 albums by a solo artist. His 14 chart-toppers only follow The Beatles who managed to land 19 No. 1 albums during the band’s career.
While there have been mixed reviews for Drake’s new album Certified Lover Boy, the Canadian rapper/singer continues to find commercial success with his latest offering. The new project dominated this week’s Hot 100 chart.
Nine of the Top 10 songs on the latest Hot 100 are by Drake. “Way 2 Sexy,” featuring Future and Young Thug debuted at #1. The song is Drake’s ninth No. 1, Thug’s third, and Future’s first.
Certified Lover Boy is now the only album in history to host nine Top 10 tracks. With “Way 2 Sexy” opening in the top spot, Drake has managed to earn five #1 debuts, tying the all-time record with Pop performer Ariana Grande.
.@Drake now has five No. 1 debuts on the #Hot100. He ties @ArianaGrande for the most of all time.
.@Drake is the fourth artist in history to debut at No. 1 on the #Hot100 and #Billboard200 in the same week (thanks to "Way 2 Sexy" and 'Certified Lover Boy').
In addition, Certified Lover Boylanded at #1 on the Billboard 200 album chart. Drake joins Justin Bieber, BTS, and Taylor Swift as the only acts to debut atop the Billboard 200 and Hot 100 charts at the same time.
Drake also became just the second act to hold all the Top 5 positions on the Hot 100 simultaneously. The iconic British band The Beatles achieved the same milestone in 1964. Drake is the first solo artist to hold the #1-#5 spots.
Plus, Drake extended his own record of having the most Top 10 songs in Billboard history. The OVO Sound superstar now has 54 entries that have made it into the Top 10 region. Drake also has 143 Top 40 hits and 258 Hot 100 entries. Both those numbers are all-time highs.
Certified Lover Boy hit DSPs on September 3. Drake’s sixth studio LP includes features by Lil Baby, Lil Durk, Giveon, Jay-Z, Travis Scott, Future, Young Thug, Yebba, 21 Savage, Project Pat, Tems, Ty Dolla $ign, Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, and Kid Cudi.
Nicki Minaj found herself in the middle of a controversy yesterday. The New York City-bred rapper took to Twitter to share her views on the COVID-19 vaccine after announcing she would not be attending the Met Gala.
“They want you to get vaccinated for the Met. If I get vaccinated it won’t [be] for the Met. It’ll be once I feel I’ve done enough research. I’m working on that now. In the meantime my loves, be safe. Wear the mask with 2 strings that grips your head & face. Not that loose one,” tweeted Minaj on Monday.
She went on to add, “My cousin in Trinidad won’t get the vaccine cuz his friend got it & became impotent. His testicles became swollen. His friend was weeks away from getting married, now the girl called off the wedding. So just pray on it & make sure you’re comfortable with ur decision, not bullied.”
Those tweets instantly went viral as Twitter users began blasting Nicki Minaj for spreading “misinformation” about the COVID-19 vaccine. High-profile media figures also called out Minaj for what she shared with her 22 million followers.
In particular, MSNBC host Joy Reid addressed Nicki Minaj’s vaccine tweets on her show. Reid stated, “For you to use your platform to encourage our community to not protect themselves and save their lives… As a fan, I am so sad that you did that.”
Minaj responded on Twitter, “This is what happens when you’re so thirsty to down another black woman (by the request of the white man), that you didn’t bother to read all my tweets. ‘My God SISTER do better’ imagine getting ur dumb ass on tv a min after a tweet to spread a false narrative about a black woman.”
The Queen album creator went on to slam other news outlets that covered the story as well. After one Twitter user complained that “a national news network organized to blatantly lie” on the 38-year-old entertainer, Nicki Minaj replied, “They’re being paid to do it.”
Nicki Minaj did not just take aim at liberal commentators like Joy Reid. She also had something to say to conservative critics like Meghan McCain. Minaj told the former The View panelist to “eat s###.”

3 lies in a row from huge news platforms. I cited my young child as why I didn’t want to travel. But notice how NONE of them mentioned that? Ask yourself why that was. pic.twitter.com/vQjorbKCCO
I guess I can join in the reindeer games too right? Ppl can go on tv & lie on me, I can report on them, too right? ☺️. Doesn’t have to be truths. It can be half truths.
DJ Ryan Wolf is back with a new hit single “Hit It.” The track is produced by Philly Ferarri and features Soulja Boy, Ty Bri and IDD Ack. Taking a tune from “take me out to the ballgame,” this Cleveland DJ is not only a producer and A&R but he also is the official DJ for the Cleveland Browns.
“Pretty Much on this one Heff was going through beats and came across hit it, he said at first it was suppose to be on his album but he felt in his heart that the beat should be for me. Yur Honor put down the reference of the song and we had a good idea of where to go with it.” DJ Ryan Wolf explained. “Heff also really wanted me to be on the hook of the song but I sounded TERRIBLE in my opinion on it so I decided to put Idd Ack on there because of his energy he would be great on the song and we already planned on having Ty on the track. I was on the phone one day with Idd Ack just talking about the song and how I need a feature and he was like “Man, YOU NEED BIG DRACO!!!!!!”
After having been laid off from various administrative positions, Wolf picked up DJing as a hobby to fill time but quickly learned that he was naturally gifted in the art of scratching. He combined this newfound skill with his unshakeable love for music and began to pursue DJing full time. In 2010, he got his first break when he started DJing for his longtime friend Ray Jr who, at the time, had just released a song entitled “Sloppy”.
He later made on-air appearances on Sirius XM Holdings’s Sway N The Morning and Hip-Hop Nation’s Ear Candy with Renada Romain. DJ Ryan Wolf shot to prominence after he was named the official DJ for the Cleveland Browns. With nearly 40 mixtapes over the course of his music career, he has worked with notable acts including DJ Scream, Machine Gun Kelly and OG Ron C among others. He is a Heavy Hitter DJ, member of the world famous Chopstars, a coalition of American DJs and turntablists who perform chopped and screwed remixes of popular songs, and also a DJ and radio personality on Z107.9 (Cleveland, OH), 101.1 (Cincinnati, OH), and 107.5 (Columbus, OH).
In 2020, DJ Ryan Wolf stepped out as an artist. He released his debut album, “Dreams 2 Reality,” under Capital Structure Entertainment. The album full of hits has features from Cleveland artists Roota Bang, Ty Bri, Ray Jr., Fly Tye, and many more. In 2021, Wolf opened a haunted house themed restaurant “The Haunted” in Cleveland Heights.
Nicki Minaj may have thrown a major monkey wrench into President Biden’s plans to rally the nation against Covid 19, to persuade vaccine-hesitant people to get their shot.
Last week, President Biden passed an executive order to make businesses with more than 100 workers to give employees mandatory COVID-19 shots or make them undergo weekly testing.
Rap star Nicki Minaj may not be a Republican, but she warned her 22 million fans not to be “bullied” into getting the vaccine.
To prove her point, Nicki recounted a horrifying tale about her cousin’s friend in Trinidad, who suffered some weird side effects after getting a COVID-19 vaccine shot.
“My cousin in Trinidad won’t get the vaccine cuz his friend got it & became impotent,” Nicki Minaj revealed “His testicles became swollen. His friend was weeks away from getting married, now the girl called off the wedding. So just pray on it & make sure you’re comfortable with ur decision, not bullied.”

The tweet may sound like Nicki is anti-vax. And, she revealed she has yet to receive her shot.
But, the superstar rapper said she is planning on getting vaccinated so she can head back out on the road once she is ready to tour.
Nicki also revealed she actually had Covid, which prevented her from appearing at the VMA’s last night (September 12) in New York.
She encouraged her fans to get vaccinated.
“A lot of countries won’t let ppl work w/o the vaccine. I’d def recommend they get the vaccine,” Nicki Minaj told her 22 million followers on Twitter. “They have to feed their families. I’m sure I’ll b vaccinated as well cuz I have to go on tour, etc.”

During an interview with Fox News, former President Donald Trump blamed the Democrats for the hesitancy.
“If you remember, when I was President, there were literally lines of people wanting to take it. Now you have a different situation, and it’s very bad,” former President Donald Trump told Fox News in an interview.
Another Fox News talking head named Lara Logan claimed the Biden administration is hiding side effects allegedly caused by Covid 19.
According to the CDC, millions of people “have received Covid 19 vaccines and no long-term side effects have been detected.”
Of course, Twitter lost it and went “nuts” after Nicki recounted the unfortunate tale of her cousin’s friend in Trinidad.
Nicki even gave the business to one follower who questioned her source of information.
“You have been tweeting about me for an hour. You not #Tide yet? Mad I’m my own person? Mad the internet can’t scare me away? It’s always someone who looks like you. Polls are very much a part of research. Real experiences, Open dialogue, etc. Go put on your red nose clown tingz,” she fumed before asking her fans to take a vaccine poll.

Jesus… I'm sick with all that unfunded misinformation. I loved you so much. I adored you. I used to put you on a pedestal. Never again. You're sounding like Trump and Bolsonaro.
Nicki, I’d love to talk to you about the COVID vaccine. Impotence is significantly more likely from COVID and there have been no documented cases of impotence associated with the COVID vaccine.
Sorry, this is not a side effect of the vaccine. It is called hydrocele. In adults, the two primary causes are injury or STD (chlamydia or gonorrhea). Probably your cousin's friend was taking one last marriage fling, picked up an STD, & is blaming vaccines. He needs an MD, stat.
If you believe the latest rumors about Jay-Z, he’s about to be big ballin’. Literally.
“Jay-Z and Jeff Bezos have emerged as potential investors of the Denver Broncos,” reports The Boardroom. “The team is expected to come under new ownership following this season with a purchase price of an estimated $4B. Bezos was previously in talks to buy a 40% stake in the Washington Football Team.”
This isn’t the first time sports-watchers thought that Hova would buy an NFL team. Back in 2019, CBS Sports debunked a then-floating myth that suggested that Jay-Z was in talks to buy an unspecified football team.
“Multiple people connected to NFL ownership and the league office have told CBS Sports that this TMZ-reported rumor is simply false, that there are no plans in place for the rap legend to become an NFL owner,” reported the outlet. “The report was connected to the deal Carter’s Roc Nation has to become the “live music entertainment strategist” for the NFL’s major events.”
Now, however, the rumors are back in full swing — and with the potential of Jeff Bezos becoming a co-investor, it looks more like a possibility than ever before.
What do you think? Will Jay-Z become a co-owner of the Denver Broncos? You be the judge.
The Baltimore-raised, Grammy®-nominated singer, songwriter, activist, and – yes – emcee has finally hit her stride. Mumu is like a meteorite with the ability to strike the Earth multiple time with increasing force. But said force is not the sort that causes mayhem, panic destruction, or ice ages. On the contrary, the queen and self-proclaimed rap god is the sort of artist that enters (and re-enters) the Hip-Hop atmosphere offering peace, knowledge, and light.
Mumu Fresh can rap in a hardcore cipher as she did with Kool G Rap, Black Thought and Talib Kweli at the Dave Chapelle Block Party or she can rock a concert with her band. She went from stanning for Lauryn Hill to fill a void left by the reclusive high priestess of rap. With, “Vintage Babies II: Queen Of Culture,” she does just that. She pulls from everything, From D-Smoke to the ancestors, to create one of the most culturally driven, thoughtful, and revolutionary albums this year. She’s not going against the grain…she is her own grain. Songs like “Work,” “Rap God,” and “Back To The Money” pave the way for Mumu and partner-in-crime DJ Dummy to present a new sound and refreshing options for culture starving for new sounds to consume.
Mumu Fresh and Chuck Creekmur aka Jigsaw chop it up over a myriad of topics…for the culture.
Rap star Nicki Minaj is officially on notice by a woman who claims the rapper and her husband Kenneth Petty have been terrorizing her.
Jennifer Hough’s lawyer finally figured out Nicki’s address to send her a summons to let her know she is being sued.
Hough filed a lawsuit the Petty’s last month, claiming the famous couple has been engaged in a harassment and bullying campaign, in an attempt to get her to recant rape allegations against Kenneth Petty.
Kenneth has been fighting to get his name off the National Sex Offender Registry list.
Last week, Hough attempted to serve Kenneth Petty (even though he appeared via Zoom) when he appeared at the Central District Of California Court in Los Angeles, where he formally pleaded guilty to failing to register as a sex offender, on September 9.
It is unclear if that attempt was successful.
However, Jennifer Hough and her attorney finally found Nicki’s address in Calabasas, California, where she was formally served with the complaint.
Nicki Minaj, Kenneth Petty Served With Lawsuit
Now the clock is ticking.
Nicki has 21 days to respond to the complaint, or a default judgment will be entered against the Petty’s.
Petty was convicted of raping Jennifer Hough back in 1995. He ran into trouble in November of 2019 for failing to register as a sex offender in California, which is a felony.
Kenneth Petty is scheduled to be sentenced on January 24, 2022.
In her new memoir, titled You Got Anything Stronger?, the actress finally addresses the issue of Dwyane Wade‘s “break baby.” While the Wades have mostly been in the news due to their transgender daughter, Zaya, not much has been said about Wade’s child that he had after he split from his first wife, Siovaughn, but while he was supposed to be “working things out” with Gabrielle Union.
That is, until now.
“In 2013, before we were married, Dwyane had a baby with another woman,” she wrote. “It should go without saying that we were not in a good place at the time that child was conceived. But we were doing much better when he finally told me about the pregnancy. To say I was devastated is to pick a word on a low shelf for convenience. There are people—strangers I will never meet—who have been upset that I have not previously talked about that trauma. I have not had words, and even after untold amounts of therapy, I am not sure I have them now.”
Gabrielle Union went on to describe how they ultimately decided that a surrogate should carry their child, Kaavia, because Gabby had “done enough” after all he’d put her through. (Well, yeah, we can agree on that.) She then went on to describe how she and her daughter sometimes have a disconnect because of surrogacy.
“I will always wonder if Kaav would love me more if I had carried her. Would our bond be even tighter? I will never know what it would have been like to carry this rockstar inside me. When they say having a child is like having your heart outside your body, that’s all I know. We met as strangers, the sound of my voice and my heartbeat foreign to her. It’s a pain that has dimmed but remains present in my fears that I was not, and never will be, enough,” she wrote.
Before we say anything else, let’s just say that Normani is everything.
It seems to be an act of irrefutable injustice that Camila Cabello can caterwaul her way to a starring role on an Amazon movie while pretending to be involved with Shawn Mendes, while it took Normani’s fans threatening everything but a revolution to get her to perform at last night’s VMAs.
Not that Normani needs it, because she’s living her best life anyway. And, as we previously told you, she gave one of the best performances of the night when she performed “Wild Side” while giving Teyana Taylor a lapdance.
Nothing but the Sapphic sexiness was in attendance with this performance. And not for anything, but that girl can dance.
But here’s what’s interesting: you know who had absolutely nothing to say about all this? Boosie. Yep — the same man who had so much smoke for Lil Nas X, and accused him of nearly everything but capital murder, suddenly doesn’t have a damn thing to say about same-sex relationships when it’s two women loving on one another. You’re not worried about “the kids” now, Mr. Badazz?
I’m surprised he’s not trying to hire them for his kids. (Or are we not allowed to mention that? Whoops.)
Travis Scott hit headlines for the wrong reasons on Sunday night (September 12), after apparently forgetting to thank pregnant partner Kylie Jenner during his acceptance speech at the MTV Video Music Awards.
The rapper picked up the Best Hip-Hop Video prize for his song “Franchise” and took to the stage to pick up the moonman and issue some thanks to his nearest and dearest.
However, while he mentioned three-year-old daughter Stormi and his own mother, fans were quick to point out that Kylie – who is pregnant with the couple’s second child – was absent from the speech.
“I first want to thank God, my mom, Stormi, all the amazing fans out there,” he began, before adding: “I love y’all so much. Couldn’t do it without y’all. to my label, Cactus Jack (Records), I love y’all so much.”
Despite missing Kylie out in his speech, he did touch on the importance of love as he said: “Before I go I just want to tell y’all, love is the biggest thing that we can ever hold. Spread love and everything will be OK.”
And it seems Kylie isn’t holding a grudge about being snubbed in the speech, as she took to Instagram to share a screenshot of Travis on stage.
September 13th is the twenty-fifth anniversary of the tragic passing of 25-year-old Tupac Shakur, one of the most important and iconic voices in music history.
Now, some of 2Pac’s monumental body of work, reimagined as house music, with a rich jazz influence and a transgender vocalist, will be released on the anniversary.
Multi-platinum award-winning producer Jonathan Hay is releasing the 2Pac project through Tech Row Records with producer Cain McKnight and global distribution by Fat Beats Records. Tech Row is continuing what 2Pac’s estate has done in recent months, using his powerful legacy to create change through the release of the new PRIDE collection.
Tech Row teamed up with Daniella Carter, a transgender LGBTQIA+ activist to help spearhead the genre-bending 2Pac Reimagined single. Carter and Tech Row understood that while hip-hop culture is becoming more accepting of LGBTQIA+ individuals, there is still a resistance to full acceptance and inclusion of artists of all races, class, gender, and sexualities.
They brought together a uniquely diverse group of creatives including 41x and Matt Berman to achieve these revolutionized versions of 2Pac’s classic songs. “I partnered up with Biggie’s son CJ Wallace of The Notorious B.I.Gestate last year,” said Hay. “I was even bestowed the honor of trying on articles of clothing from Biggie’s wardrobe that he wore while he was still alive.”
Hay’s past production was co-signed by the legendary Eric B. & Rakim from his #1 Billboard Jazz album Follow the Leader (Reimagined as Jazz). Hay worked on that critically acclaimed album (which remained on the Billboard charts for 11 weeks) at Quad Recording Studios – the same recording studio of the infamous 2pac elevator shooting that fueled the violent East and West Coast hip-hop rivalry. Coincidentally, Eric B. was building Death Row East with both Suge Knight and 2Pac before his untimely passing.
“Some of my associates have asked why we chose the violent Biggie diss ‘Hit ‘Em Up’ as the first single,” said Hay. “We simply took a historical hardcore diss song and turned it upside down with diverse creatives voices from all backgrounds over a jazzy dance backdrop. House music is all about love and positivity, and I look forward to seeing everyone dancing freely to this new spin of a classic while honoring 2Pac’s legacy.”
“Hit ‘Em Up” – an electronic/house music reimagination of 2Pac’s magic is available on all platforms.
Rapper Blueface is in deep trouble after allegedly jumping a club bouncer at Skinny’s Lounge in San Fernando Valley on early Saturday, 11.
It is said that the recording artist enlisted the help of his two female friends during the beatdown.
According to TMZ, who first reported the story, the “Thotiana” rapper was stopped at the door and asked for his legal identification.
However, it seems that Blueface did not have the required proof of identity.
Sources say that he didn’t think he needed one since he was a celebrity, asking the bouncer if he knew who he was.
To further prove his identity, he started to Google himself, sharing millions of websites, images and etc. that acknowledged him as a notable musician (word used loosely).
Despite his efforts, Googled sites (including AllHipHop.com) did not trump the request for proper ID.
This apparently p##### Blueface off and caused him to lash out at the club employee.
The man was brought to a hospital in an ambulance and treated for his injuries. He, unfortunately, had a series of bruises and scratches that required sutures.
Some called the authorities to report the fight. The officers were told that the first happened a little after midnight and that the person injured in the melee only sustained minor injuries.
Upon arrival, the police took a battery report. They are investigating to identify the alleged suspect, who TMZ has identified as the rapper.
Drea Dominique is a whole vibe, and she’s here to spread that positive energy and love to the music industry and beyond. Most notably known for her role on Bad Girls Club Season 9, the rising star is a jack of all trades, from being a reality television star and modeling to starting her business and creating her own original music.
In describing herself, Drea states, “I’m bringing my music out. Most of you guys probably know me from Bad Girls Club, but now instead of fighting I’m knocking down the mic and I’m dropping music.”
Originally hailing from Long Island, New York, but now rising in sunny San Diego, Drea is excited as ever to have released her newest single and visual for “I Know You Want It,” tapping Safaree. The Caribbean-influenced record serves as the perfect soundtrack for the end of summer and beginning of fall, a certified banger that will have you instantly moving on the dance floor.
“I Know You Want It” sees Drea reminding audiences around the world of the importance of self-love and time, particularly how a man needs to put in the work to get the baddie he sees in front of him. Directed by Marcus Pualk (Moesha), the music video displays both the Puerto Rican Jamaican flag, for Drea and Safaree’s heritage respectfully.
AllHipHop: How long have you been in Hawaii?
Drea Dominique: First of all, let me show you my view. We are outside for real! I’ve been here for 4 days, I leave on Friday. It’s beautiful, I’d live here if I didn’t have to share a child. [laughs] I’m on vacation mode. I’m shooting some content, but I’m on vacation mode.
AllHipHop: How was your time on Bad Girls Club?
Drea Dominique: Toxic! [laughs] Super toxic, very very toxic. It was a good time, but you know what you’re signing up for when you’re going on Bad Girls Club. It is what it is. Recently, I’ve been presented with the offer to do Bad Girls Boxing, which we were doing when our season was airing. I’m going to be jumping in the ring with some bad girls coming up real soon.
AllHipHop: Actual boxing?
Drea Dominique: Actual boxing in the ring. I did it before and after my first boxing match, I got into a car accident. Broke my nose, it ended my boxing career. It’s all good, life struggles are a part of life. It’s been a while. Since then, it’s now coming back around. We’re looking at some networks so I might be back in the ring with some of these bad girls very shortly.
AllHipHop: What’s the concept behind Bad Girls Boxing?
Drea Dominique: Pretty much the drama of it all. They want to get “oh this one doesn’t like this one, let’s get them in the ring.” That’s what they’re doing. We’re going to see who I stir up with next but it’s coming.
AllHipHop: You’re from Long Island originally right?
Drea Dominique: I’m very bicoastal. I was born in Long Island, I’m from New York. Since 6, I’ve been back and forth between Cali and New York. I’m both sides, I got the beach girl and I’m rolling in the snow girl as well. [laughs]
AllHipHop: Who were you listening to?
Drea Dominique: This is the thing, I like older stuff. I’m listening to The Lox, Mobb Deep, Fabolous, 50 Cent. I like the girls too but I like the throwback stuff. The new stuff is ratchet, I’m a romantic at heart. I love the love songs. Aaliyah’s my all-time favorite, she’s an icon. I like East Coast, I like West Coast. I like Bay Area, some Mac Dre.
AllHipHop: “I Know You Want It” featuring Safaree, how are you feeling?
Drea Dominique: I’m super excited, it’s a blessing. The song’s doing pretty well, I’m excited about that. I performed “I Know You Want It” at Black Pride in Atlanta. I performed another song called “Toy Box,” then a new song that’s my single called “Blocked.” We’re dropping the video, all that. It’s my first time performing, doing my own solo thing. Every time I’ve performed in the past, it’s been singing hooks for other people. This time, it’s all about me. I get to be the star of the show, just ready for my next adventure.
AllHipHop: How did you and Safaree come together on the record?
Drea Dominique: Travis Kr8ts, we have mutual producers pretty much. We did the song, my producer said “we need to get somebody on the song.” He listed some people and said “I have Safaree.” I said “it’s Safaree then!” And here we are. Networking made that happen and it was a success.
AllHipHop: What was the energy in creating the song? I love the Caribbean vibe.
Drea Dominique: I’m Puerto Rican and black, and he’s Jamaican. We really played it off with that, embracing the island parts of us. The whole vibe was our whole Caribbean thing, so that’s what we did. I embraced my Puerto Rican, seen my girls wearing the Puerto Rican clothing with the symbols and everything. We had the Jamaican flag waving, we just embraced our heritage.
AllHipHop: Best memory from the video shoot?
Drea Dominique: Honestly, the whole process. Super dope, the video went smooth. There were hiccups there but just people being late or whatever. Other than that, everything went great. Good vibes. Safaree’s super chill, hella funny. His sense of humor is off the charts. Everything was real great, it went smooth. I’m happy with the outcome, it went good.
AllHipHop: 3 things you need in the studio?
Drea Dominique: Good lighting, a bottle of Veuve, and a vibe. I like champagne so I like to sip champagne and get into that vibe, then we can create. I like to light the candles, then we can vibe out.
AllHipHop: What’s one thing you want people to take away from your debut project, Toy Box?
Drea Dominique: It’s an introduction so they can get a feel for me, see that I’m trying to do this. My next project is going to be more in tune with my personal life, because everything else is for the crowd and to appeal to the people.
I have another song I’m about to drop after this called “Beautiful Disaster.” It expresses my most recent relationship, how he’s an a###### and he should stop lying to me and leave me peaceful. You’re getting more of a feel of what I’m going through, as opposed to something you can bop to.
AllHipHop: Does he know it’s about him?
Drea Dominique: No, we’re not talking! [laughs] I named it “Beautiful Disaster” for a reason.
AllHipHop: I heard you’re making music in Spanish too?
Drea Dominique: Oh yeah, I have a Spanish song coming out called “Rompe.” It’s bilingual Spanish and English. I have a Spanish song I’m going to drop, another little R&B joint I’m going to drop. The next single is “Blocked.” Long story short, please don’t make me block you. I ain’t trippin’, I ain’t reminiscing, but don’t make me block you. [laughs] We swear we love him so much, but the whole time I’m not even thinking about you. So fall back before I gotta block you. You can’t even watch me, now you gotta go on a fake page to see me.
Drea Dominique: DreaDominique.com. I have a lash line, I have 5 different styles of lashes. I have a lip line, 5 styles of lipstick. I have merchandise, t-shirts, hoodies and there’s more to come. I’m very into candles, sage, all that. I want to create candles that have crystals in them with a positive message in each one. That’ll be my next thing that I add to my line. There’s more to come, this is just the beginning.
AllHipHop: Goals yourself as an artist at this point of your career?
Drea Dominique: Yes! I’m a mom so I’m trying to create that generational wealth, something my daughter can carry on after I’m done. I want to build a brand. Ultimately, I want to perform. I want to get my music out there, I want to inspire. This world is so negative. “Hate this about yourself, you need to be like this to be poppin’.” No, I want to get a different message across. You’re good right where you’re at, how you are and that’s it. It is what it is. That’s definitely what I’m going to deliver to the girls.
I know I have a lot of young fans, they see me on Bad Girls Club so it’s a lot of the young girls. They see the drama, they think “oh those aren’t red bottoms, you ain’t poppin’.” No. Whether you own your house or not, you were poppin’. Whether you’re single or wifed up, you’re poppin’. I want to inspire girls to feel good in their own skin honestly no matter what it looks like, that’s what I’m on. I want to get my message across and relate to people, down-to-earth type s###.
