The Godfather of the Drill wave that took Hip-Hop by storm, Chief Keef, has never relinquished his position as one of the leading artists in the genre. Now Chief Keef is teaming up with Tadoe and Ballout to form a new Drill supergroup, Glo Gang. Headed by Chief Keef the rap super team, has released their debut single, “On Gang.” All three artists trade bars over a hard hitting beat produced by Young Malcom.

“Be on the look out for a Glo Gang album, coming soon. ON GANG!” – Chief Keef

An influential figure in the 2010s drill scene, rapper Chief Keef pulls inspiration from the Chicago streets, delivering hardcore rhymes that often focus on inner-city tales of violence and drugs. Kicking his career off at the age of 16 with the street single “I Don’t Like,” he was a hit on Chicago’s high school circuit before mixtapes and viral videos led to a contract with Interscope. His official debut, 2012’s Finally Rich, was a hit, peaking in the Top 30 of the Billboard 200. Following a pair of 2015 albums, a prolific Keef issued a string of mixtapes—five per year in 2017 and 2018—including Two Zero One SevenThot Breaker, and Mansion Musick.

Pop Smoke’s Final Moments Recounted In Heartbreaking Testimony

The woman found in the room with Pop Smoke during his last moments told law enforcement details regarding the invasion and murder that took his life last year.

The witness’s testimony was released during the preliminary hearing for a suspect named Corey Walker in Los Angeles to determine if he will go to trial for the death of the Brooklyn-born rap star.

Detective Christian Carrasco took the stand and testified that Pop Smoke (whose real name is Bashar Jackson) and an unnamed woman, were hanging out in an Airbnb in Los Angeles, CA, celebrating the release of his new chart-topping album.

BREAKING NEWS: Pop Smoke Shot And Killed

A man came in through the window and told the woman, “Shut the f### up. Do you want to die?” He did this and held a black semiautomatic firearm to the forehead.

At this time, Pop Smoke was taking a shower in the adjoining bathroom. Two other men kicked him and possibly stole his gold watch.

Carrasco continued: “She heard a struggle coming from the shower area and heard Mr. Jackson screaming. Mr. Jackson ran out of the bathroom and then she heard a loud pop and [heard] Mr. Jackson fall to the ground … Two other individuals began to kick him. Mr. Jackson gets up and run downstairs. She hears two more pops,” Carrasco said while on the stand.

Pop Smoke’s mom, Rev. Audrey Jackson, listened to the testimony and was visibly disturbed.

Reports said, she just leaned in, rocked, and shook her head. It was also revealed, via his death certificate, that he had major surgery called a “left thoracotomy,” but could not be saved.

Amber Liu: From K-Pop Rapper to Soulful Songstress

Despite being in the midst of a pandemic, Amber Liu has been continuously working towards improving her craft while making many moves within the industry.

In particular, she’s genre-crossing into other realms such as R&B.

California-native Amber Liu was discovered at SM Entertainment’s global auditions in Los Angeles when she was 15-years-old.

She debuted in 2009 as a member of the girl group f(x) after relocating to South Korea. The electro-pop-based K-pop group quickly became one of the most influential and award-winning girl groups in the industry.

She was the group’s rapper and broke out on her own with the her first solo album, Beautiful, debuting at #2 on Billboard’s World Albums chart in 2015.

Recently, Liu collaborated with numerous hip-hop artists leading to the release of her new album, y?

Liu gathered an impressive roster of versatile rappers as featured artists with Korean-American rapper Junoflo, Peniel of boy group BtoB, Chinese-Born Blow Fever and the resilient MaSiWei of Higher Brothers – all who give stellar deliveries on their respective verses.

The highly anticipated album y? is now available on all digital streaming platforms today. The album includes the songs “vegas,” “complicated,” “make it better.” Plus a Mandarin and English version for both songs: “neon” and “blue.”

A range of tracks were penned by Liu herself, y? conveys emotions through sick beats, slick verses, toned-down melodies, and textured roots in R&B.

With y?, Amber is exploring and discovering a new side of herself, as well as trying to find answers to past events in her life. Similar to the y? shape, she felt like her life was at a crossroads.

Liu’s collaborations showcase her unique sound and dynamic ability to work with international artists. The features add to the prominent hip-hop influence and transform Liu from a pop star into a R&B powerhouse.

Liu has previously mentioned that her mother loves when she sings in Mandarin and that she knew the tracks would sound great in English and Mandarin. The different versions of each track carries a different vibe.

Her collaboration with rapper Peniel of BtoB on the English-language version of “neon” is playful and energetic, while her collaboration with Chinese-born rapper Blow Fever on the Mandarin-language version of “neon” demonstrates a sick synergy.

Nonetheless, both rappers killed their verses on each version of this sick track.

In the Mandarin version of the “blue,” Liu is joined midway by MaSiWei. The one-shot production of the music video mimics the emotional spiral one feels after experiencing heartbreak and showcases Liu playing with a lighter while sitting alone in a dark, graffiti covered room.

The gritty atmosphere adds to the meaning behind the lyrics.

Liu’s lead track, “complicated,” features prominent percussion sounds and a melancholic melody. The track conveys a story of both her happiest moments in life as well as the struggles that she faced individually.

Throughout the rest of the video, the scenery alternates between the ocean, city streets, and downtown parking lots which adds to the moody feeling of the song.

On “vegas”, a track filled with steady beats, Liu keeps the focus on her poetic flow. The music video for “vegas” captures a compilation of home video style sequences.

With her other track “make it better” Liu developed a sultry tune about heartbreak. An upbeat rhythm and bass guitar make the listeners want to groove along to this vibey track.

y? is a product of the pandemic that Liu used the time to learn more about herself, channeling her insecurities and habits into creative inspiration for the album.

Aside from working on her latest project, Liu has spent the past year connecting with friends and fans, going on Twitch, and even launching her own show called ‘I’ll Ask the Stupid Questions,’ which is accessible on the streaming platform Ficto.

Inspired by artists like Beyoncè, Liu’s latest work is her first solo entry into the scene. Currently, Liu is in China working as a mentor on the popular TV series CHUANG 2021 where she is helping to form a boy group from different backgrounds.

With y?, Liu makes a triumphant return to the music scene and distinguishes herself as a global star.

AcebergTM: Meet The New Rising Artist From Nigeria

With Dancehall and Afrobeat taking over the world, look no further than AcebergTM to provide you with all the good vibrations. Born and raised in Lagos, Nigeria as the second child in a family of 5 children, the rising star boasts an wavering love for hip-hop, with Wyclef Jean, J. Cole, and Drake as his biggest influences.

Most recently, real name Ikechukwu Okoronkwo unleashed his highly-anticipated “Far From Home” EP, which hails standout single “Danca.”

With the ability to both rap and sing, AcebergTM sees himself in the same vein as the greats such as Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Davido.

Speaking on what sets him apart, he states, “My sound is different from the other artists. It’s not really Afrobeats but hip-hop and R&B, fusing it together.”

AllHipHop: What were you like growing up in Lagos?

AcebergTM: Back then, I was gentle. More so into school, studying. I had the passion for music so I went into it straight ahead.

AllHipHop: Wyclef Jean was a big influence, what do you like about him?

AcebergTM: I listened to his songs growing up, my dad always played his songs around so I was caught up with his vibe. I started noticing other artists, listening to other artists, and started making my own music. He’s the first artist I recognized that made me want to listen to the music.

AllHipHop: Favorite Wyclef song?

AcebergTM: “Diallo.” You should check it out, it’s dope.”

AllHipHop: When did you realize you wanted to do the music for a living?

AcebergTM: When I got out of university, I realized my passion for music was better than anything else so I gave it a shot. I’m still going until this moment.

AllHipHop: You finished college right?

AcebergTM: Yeah I did, here in Nigeria. I studied Computer Science, that was really hard. [laughs] College was tough, but I pulled through. My grades were so low. [laughs] I realized I had other stuff I had to do and had more to offer than education, which is music.

AllHipHop: What was the inspiration for your name?

AcebergTM: I was young at the time, I was searching through the dictionary because I had so much love for rap music. I knew I had to get a stage name first, an artist name. I’m going through the dictionary and saw Ace, which meant young, talented, skillful. I thought “that’s fine,” then I started seeing Ace everywhere. Ace this, Ace that. Aceberg is like iceberg. You don’t see what’s below the surface, but this is the pack of the whole talent, everything altogether. TM is time, Aceberg time. It’s complex, but it makes sense to me now.

AllHipHop: “Far From Home” EP out now, how are you feeling?

AcebergTM: I’m feeling great. The love is crazy. I’m getting people from around here to understand what I’m making. It’s really going great because I’m gaining a lot of fans from around the world, telling me the music is nice. It’s pretty great, I’m happy about it.

AllHipHop: What does the title mean to you?

AcebergTM: The sound was different. Far From Home, all the genres were not like Afrobeats, not like the stuff you heard around you. A lot of people kept on saying my sound was different, so that inspired the whole name of the EP. It’s not from home, it’s a mindset that I want people to have when they listen to it.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CNktvlEMiDF/

AllHipHop: What does the cover art represent to you? I know you’re in a red car.

AcebergTM: The name of the song inspired the cover art. I was in a car cruising Far From Home, skipping roads and going out of the country. That‘s the idea I gave to the graphic guy, to make it look that way.

AllHipHop: Who or what inspired “Danca”?

AcebergTM: It’s like “dance,” I just had a different spelling. I was trying to make a song that people could dance and vibe to. I was mostly into rap music. When I hooked up with the producer, he played the song for me. I thought “yo, it was quite different from what I do.” I had to flow with it, do what I had to do. It was just vibes.

AllHipHop: Best memory from the video shoot?

AcebergTM: It was when I was having an intimate moment with the vixen, the girl in the video. [laughs] It was cool, that’s the part I had in my head all through the video. I wanted to see that part. A lot of stuff was left out of the video, that’s the most exciting part.

AllHipHop: What songs mean the most to you from the project and why?

AcebergTM: “Loyal,” which is the last song of the EP. I wrote that song before I got signed. I’m explaining many emotions on that particular song, more than the rest of the songs. The rest of the songs are mostly vibes and R&B. That one was personal, it was around my struggling times when I made that song.

AllHipHop: What do you want fans to get from your story?

AcebergTM: I know them to know what I’m all about. After listening to this Far From Home EP, to give them a sense of what I can do, what I’m capable of. They know what to expect so they’re not looking at me as the new guy, because I’ve been in the industry in a while. The EP’s letting them know what I’m all about.

AllHipHop: Talk about the music scene in Nigeria being compared with Davido, Burna Boy, Wizkid, the elites…

AcebergTM: Nigeria is getting to a stage where all the music genres are being accepted. Normally if you come up doing the hip-hop thing and not Afrobeats, I don’t think a lot of people would want to listen to that around here. It looks like you’re wasting your time but right now, they seem to be accepting a lot of new sounds. Burna Boy, Wizkid, Davido, most of the top artists around here are changing their sounds and doing great music now. They’re paving the way for people like us coming up, just doing our thing.

AllHipHop: What are some of your career goals?

AcebergTM: I want to make a lot of fans, headline my own tour someday. Do something most people don’t do around here. We hardly go on tours around here, it’s shows and shows and shows. I want to make a difference with my music and the sound I’m putting out.

AllHipHop: Anything else you want the people to know?

AcebergTM: They should watch out for me, watch out for everything I do. AcebergTM, I’m all about good music. I’m all about bringing out the best so watch out for me. Get to see my journey.

“Justice (Get Up, Stand Up)” A New Message Of Hope And Equality By Nakkia Gold Ft. Wiz Khalifa, Bob Marley And The Wailers

Saban Music Group (SMG), singer, songwriter, and producer Nakkia Gold released her latest single, “Justice (Get Up, Stand Up)” featuring GRAMMY® and Golden Globe® Award-nominated recording artist Wiz Khalifa, Bob Marley and The Wailers.

A remake of “Get Up, Stand Up” by Bob Marley and The Wailers, “JUSTICE” is a rebirth of the militant anthem, which played an integral role in the fight for equality and human rights in 1973.

53 years later, Americans continue to face inequality, systemic racism, and a long, painful history of violence in the black and minority communities. In response, Los Angeles-born singer Nakkia Gold is taking action through the immediate release of her single “Justice (Get Up, Stand Up),” which has already gained national attention.

“The struggle has made us strong. This is the moment to break through the chains of social injustice. This song is a call to action in a time when it’s needed the most,” states Nakkia Gold.

Cedella Marley states, “I am proud that my father’s legacy continues to live on through his music. His message of peace and equality transcends, especially today, during these challenging times.”

Wiz Khalifa states, “Bob Marley has always been an inspiration to me. I was pumped to hop on this track and keep his message alive about continuing the fight.”

Inspired by her core belief that “music tells a story,” Nakkia Gold distinguishes herself from other artists by empowering her community with her soul-inspiring voice that weaves a tapestry of emotion and rich, melodic texture rooted in R&B and contemporary music.

“Justice (Get Up, Stand Up)” is now available on all digital and streaming platforms.  Check out the music video:

Watch LVRN’s RapCaviar Cypher Featuring 6lack, Westside Boogie & More

Love Renaissance (aka LRVN) recruited acts from its label and management roster for a special RapCaviar x Spotify Singles release. The latest installment in the streamer’s music series includes an original freestyle cypher (Side A) and a new track titled “Just Say That” (Side B).

“LVRN’s collaboration with RapCaviar happened very organically and highlights the versatile talent on our roster. The seamless blend and dynamic when you hear our artists together is unlike any other. I feel like that comradery is missing in hip-hop today and we have some of the best rappers to showcase that,” states LVRN co-founder and Head of A&R Justice Baiden.

Rhymers 6LACK, Westside Boogie, OMB Bloodbath, NoonieVsEverybody, BRS Kash, and producer/deejay Kitty Ca$h took part in the cypher video. The financial-themed visuals were filmed in the multimedia company’s hometown of Atlanta.

Westside Boogie is under the management wing of Love Renaissance. The Shady Records-signed rapper from Compton jokes, “It was fun doing the cypher because I am competitive, and I wanted to body every rapper on LVRN even though I love them.”

The “Just Say That” song features OMB Bloodbath, 6LACK, Westside Boogie, and BRS Kash. Houston’s OMB Bloodbath says, “I like rapping with LVRN altogether, I loved the bank outfits, and the direction on set, plus the steak and potatoes on set was fire. If the song a hit, they need to just say that.”

LVRN management recently added OVO Sound’s R&B duo dvsn to its list of musicians under contract. Atlantic Records singer/rapper Shelley FKA DRAM is also managed by the brand, and Atlanta-raised vocalist Summer Walker is signed to the label. In February, LVRN announced a new publishing partnership with Warner Chappell Music.

Love Renaissance was founded in 2012 by Justice Baiden, Tunde Balogun, Carlon Ramong, Junia Abaidoo, and Sean Famoso McNichol. LVRN garnered praise across the entertainment industry for launching a mental health program that combats anxiety and depression as well as provides artists with access to mediation sessions and coaching while on tour.

Previously, the Spotify Singles program worked with 2021 Best New Artist Grammy nominees, such as D Smoke and Chika, to cover songs by prior Best New Artist contenders like Sade and Billie Eilish. In addition, the audio streaming service tapped Giveon to remake D’Angelo’s “Untitled (How Does It Feel)” and J.I The Prince Of N.Y to remake Drake’s “Marvins Room.”

Pete Davidson Backs Kid Cudi Wearing A Kurt Cobain-Inspired Dress On ‘SNL’

Some people were upset that Kid Cudi decided to put on a dress during his performance of “Sad People” on Saturday Night Live in April. However, SNL cast member Pete Davidson defended the Cleveland rapper/actor’s controversial outfit during a radio show appearance this week.

According to Kid Cudi, he wore the floral-printed garment as an homage to the late Nirvana lead singer Kurt Cobain. The day after that April 10 episode of SNL, Cudi announced the Virgil Abloh-designed dress will be part of a forthcoming collaboration with Abloh’s Off-White clothing brand.

“Virgil designed the dress for me. I told him I wanted to show love to Kurt [with] a floral print sundress and this man made a masterpiece. Thank You @virgilabloh ur a f##### genius!! Love you man we did it!!!” tweeted Cudi. “I’m [doing] a collection [with] Off-White and the dress will be included!!”

Critics blasted Kid Cudi for donning a dress on the late-night sketch comedy program. Some objectors took issue with him supposedly promoting the “feminization” of men. On the other hand, popular podcaster Joe Budden slammed Cudi’s tribute to Kurt Cobain for what he viewed as profiting off the Rock icon’s depression and suicide. Cobain took his own life at the age of 27 in 1994.

Pete Davidson took time to back Kid Cudi during an interview with The Breakfast Club’s Angela Yee and Charlamagne Tha God. The star of The King of Staten Island movie has repeatedly discussed being a longtime fan of Cudi. Davidson even acknowledged that the performer’s music helped him overcome depression as a youth.

“I loved it. I thought it was great,” said Davidson about Cudi wearing the Off-White ensemble. “I think when you get criticism like that, it’s just like, ‘Okay, cool. Those are people I don’t really want to associate myself with anyway – people that are that close-minded.'”

The 27-year-old stand-up comic continued, “I thought it was really cool and like a really cool tribute. Virgil [Abloh] made it, it’s sick. They’re gonna sell it as a unisex dress. I thought he killed it.” Kid Cudi, Pete Davidson, and fellow SNL comedian Chris Redd also filmed a music video called “Weird Little Flute” for Saturday Night Live.

Isaiah Rashad Returns With ‘The House Is Burning’ Single “Lay Wit Ya”

Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith sent the Twitterverse into a frenzy on April 28 when he tweeted “THE WAIT IS OVAH!!!!” along with a loading graphic leading to “5/7/21.” Speculation ran wild online about which TDE artist would drop on that date.

It turns out that Top Dawg Entertainment’s Isaiah Rashad is the person Tiffith was teasing last month. The Tennessee-raised rapper returned with the new tune “Lay Wit Ya” featuring Duke Deuce. The track is a precursor to the long-awaited The House Is Burning album.

“This album was difficult,” states Rashad. “I love music, but I don’t like to say s###. It’s almost like a game for me. It’s like working out. I don’t want to be redundant. Redundancy in general bothers me. Any song that I make, I usually make it in about 30 minutes to an hour, and that’s it. My ideas come to me immediately.”

He adds, “Music is where I go to express myself. It’s what I do to close a chapter. You know what’s crazy? I’m not even ashamed to say it… I really think my albums aren’t different from each other. Eventually, one of my albums will become a classic. I just love this s###. It’s me.”

Isaiah Rashad has mostly been on a musical hiatus for the last five years. With the exception of loosies like “Why Worry” in 2020, the 29-year-old former XXL freshman class member remained relatively quiet since The Sun’s Tirade album came out in 2016.

The Sun’s Tirade was met with widespread critical acclaim at the time of its release. Rashad’s debut studio LP currently has an 80/100 score on Metacritic.com. Plus, the project was included on numerous publications’ 2016 end-of-the-year “best album” lists. 2014’s Cilvia Demo mixtape also received rave reviews.

Back in 2016, Isaiah Rashad spoke publicly about his battles with drug addiction and alcoholism, even admitting he was in “a really bad place” at one point. TDE CEO Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith reportedly refused to release any of Rashad’s music at the time until he “got his s### together.”

J. Cole Drops “Interlude” Off His Upcoming ‘The Off-Season’ Album

J. Cole and the Dreamville Records team have been teasing the North Carolina emcee’s next body of work for months. With the release of the new track titled “Interlude” (stylized as “i n t e r l u d e”), The Off-Season era has finally begun.

“Told myself I would drop the album all at once. Sometimes you gotta say f### it tho. New song tonight. 12 o’clock. ‘i n t e r l u d e’ from The Off-Season,” tweeted J. Cole on Thursday afternoon.

Jermaine Cole kept his word by letting loose the brand new track produced by himself, T-Minus, and Tommy Parker on Friday morning. The Dreamville leader also told his 14 million Twitter followers, “See you in a week.”

The Off-Season is scheduled to arrive on Friday, May 14. Cole’s forthcoming work of art will be his first full-length solo effort since 2018’s KOD. He also curated 2019’s Revenge of the Dreamers III compilation and presented 2020’s Lewis Street EP which hosted the singles “Lion King On Ice” and “The Climb Back.”

Hype for The Off-Season kicked into overdrive after J. Cole uploaded a photo of a notebook page on Instagram in December. His post featured a handwritten note with the phrases “The Fall Off Era,” “The Off-Season,” “It’s A Boy,” and “The Fall Off.”

Then in January of 2021, Dreamville Records co-founder Ibrahim Hamad further excited the J. Cole fanbase by sharing an Instagram photo of Cole seemingly filming some kind of visual content. Hamad’s IG caption simply read, “Locked in. The Off-Season.”

Following those developments, Dreamville recording artist Bas all but confirmed the release date for The Off-Season with a post-and-delete at the end of April. The New York City-bred rapper wrote on Instagram, “🤯🤯 The Off-Season. Pack your bags. 🚀 In two weeks.”
