T.I.’ & Tiny’s “Friends & Family Hustle” Returning To VH1

With all that’s happening in the…world…don’t you think that we need a little bit of entertainment?

Just a little break from the norm…

Well, VH1 does. This is why, amidst 45 being impeached, losing financing for his businesses, and finding jobs (and pardons) for all his kids, the network has announced that “T.I. & Tiny: Friends & Family Hustle” will return this Spring.

The tone is sure to be a little different as it will include the after-effects of the 2020 Summer of Protest and the oppressive coronavirus pandemic. The perspective should be interesting since the series is based in Atlanta where so many of the headlines in the news sprung from.

Some storylines threaded though the episodes are:

T.I. “Tip” Harris leaves the Dirty 30 club and makes his grand entrance to the Naughty 40 lounge. As if in a middle-aged crisis, the “Whatever You Like” rapper had to figure out his 10th wedding anniversary to singer/ songwriter Tameka “Tiny” Harris, becoming a grandfather and being an O.G. in the community and rap game.

How did he do that? By focusing on social justice causes and businesses that directly impact local companies through a “Buy Back the Block” campaign and teaching a course over at Clark Atlanta University called “Business of Trap Music.”

While T.I. struggles publicly with this grandpop business, his wife is embracing it full throttle.

The show does not only showcase the Harris family but also their celebrity friends.

R&B singer Monica has had an epic 2020 and you get to see how all of this plays out. Yes, that means the Verzuz battle, her divorce finalization, new music, and the work that she did with Stacey Abrams to help turn Georgia blue.

Monica’s in the blue heavy, while Toya Wright is in the “Red.” Robert “Red” Rushing that is.

Remember at the end of last year, he asked her to marry him … and she said yes … the pandemic put a pause on their wedding plan. While Toya and Red are locking in. LeToya Luckett and Tommicus “Tommi” Walker are trying to figure their marriage, which has just ended according to reports.

909Memphis Talks “Resilience” & His Own Distinct Sound

909Memphis describes himself as “a kid like anyone else,” but his musical talents are undeniable. Hailing from the UK but moving to the United States at age 3, the singer, songwriter, and rapper is a huge fan of sports and music, the latter which inspires him to get better each and every single day.

Residing somewhere in the midst of R&B, pop, and trap, the athlete turned recording artist carves his own lane, injecting his own personal life experiences into his hard-hitting bangers. First uploading his music to SoundCloud back in 2016, the 23-year-old began experimenting with his voice, adding certain pitches that add to the overall vibe of the record.

Most recently, 909Memphis unleashed his new album titled Resilience, speaking volumes to the current times amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.

AllHipHop: Talk about being from London and moving to the States at age 3.

909Memphis: I was born in London where my parents met. My dad’s originally from there, my mom’s from LA, then she moved over there with her mom and stepfather. They met in their mid 20’s and had me, so I have dual citizenship since I was born there. I’m an English citizen and an American citizen too, it’s pretty lit.

AllHipHop: Biggest influences coming up?

909Memphis: Ooh, I like Lancey Foux a lot. Do you know who that is? He’s this English underground artist. I’m bumping a lot of Polo G honestly, I love Polo G. He’s definitely influenced my music a good amount, even Toosii right now. If there’s any artist I really want to work within the next year, it’d definitely be Toosii, Polo G, Yung Pinch, Rylo Rodriguez. Because my music’s R&B, pop, trap. If we were to collab on something, it’d make some really crazy music.

AllHipHop: You and Yung Pinch have the same vibe kind of.

909Memphis: A lot of people be saying that s###. Within the past 6 months, when I asked people who they want to see me work with, it’s always Yung Pinch, Toosii, all them. I’m still a little smaller than they are so it’s going to take me a little bit more time.

AllHipHop: At what point did you realize you could do music for a living?

909Memphis: The year after I graduated from college, I started to really see progress in my music only because I started to do it full-time. When I was in school, I was also a student athlete. I’d make music, I’d study, then I’d go play soccer. Every single day, I had a routine. Sometimes I’ll be staying up late, 2am recording s### after I study.

I really wanted to do the rap s### but being able to juggle it in college made it 10 times easier to go so hard with it when I got out of school. I had all the available time to really cook up. That’s when I started to see the money. Honestly too, using a little bit of time growing up out of college, gave me the idea that you can make more money with your brand that doesn’t have to follow the music. You can merge sales, use your platform for a bunch of stuff. I had to use my little business mind there.

AllHipHop: What made you move to Nashville?

909Memphis: I was living in Northern Virginia at my mom’s crib. To be honest, I was getting tired of that s###. It was me, my mom, my sister, I was always making noise in the basement. We lived in a little townhouse. Honestly, I met this girl right? [laughs] I came to come visit her in Nashville. I f##### with the city because of the music primarily. I always heard something about Nashville because everybody where I’m from comes to visit or moves here.

I really liked the idea of the fact that it was music city, but it’s different. Even though it’s classified as a city of music, it’s not as fast as LA or New York. For me as that type of person, I like that. Because I’m always thinking, I’m always rushing s###. To be in a calmer environment down here is fire. I’m here for my girl, my music, I also coach kids for soccer as my part-time hustle.

AllHipHop: Do you? That’s so cute.

909Memphis: I got laid off in Northern Virginia, then I had an opportunity to become a coach out here too. The universe let it happen. I’m testing it out now and I love it so far. The food is awesome out here.

AllHipHop: What’s your favorite food out there?

909Memphis: Hot chicken. It’s so good, for real.

AllHipHop: How’d you get your name, 909Memphis?

909Memphis: I’m not from the California area at all, I have family out there. One of my homies organized a collective, his name’s Primo. When I was about 18 years old, he found me on YouTube when I was making beats. You know how it is the game these days, everyone’s making collectives online. We had something going called 909. I be having my own brand. How Rocky has AWGE, I’m trying to make my own type s### like that. 909 international because I’m English.

The name Memphis comes from a Dutch professional soccer player, Memphis Depay. When I was in high school, all my friends would joke with me and say “yo, Memphis Depay!” He’s played for a couple clubs, I have no idea what team he is on now. I scored a goal in a game once, one of my best friends was playing around like “oh Memphy, that was insane!” Mimicking what commentators would say for the guy who scored a goal. That’s how I got my name, being a soccer fan and a soccer kid.

AllHipHop: Did you want to be a professional soccer player?

909Memphis: I did, I wanted to be a professional soccer player. I grew up my whole life playing at one of the highest levels for soccer. The state, amongst the youth community. I even had a little bit of time training with the DC United Academy, which is a MLS team. It’s like the LA Galaxy of the DMV, so I was doing that as a kid too. I went to college, I played soccer. My freshman year, I’m like “damn, I love soccer so much. I’ma do whatever I can, I’ma go pro.” My junior year: “man, I’m burnt out now.” It gets boring. It’s weird because in life, you try so hard to reach your goals. Honestly you reach your goal, then you’re like “s###, this is not what I wanted after all this time.”

Sometimes, life be throwing you curveballs. Music was one of those things that took the strong hold of my life because of all the changes going from an 18-year-old kid, leaving home for the first time then growing up. Honestly in college, I grew up the most when I left my parents house. It’s a pretty weird situation. I really fell in love with music because it’s fun, it’s different.

909memphis
909memphis

AllHipHop: How would you describe your sound?

909Memphis: Oh man, I believe it’s changed over the past couple years. I can tell you who my influences are for sure. I take a lot of my musical creativity and my sound from people like Wiz Khalifa. My goal when I make a song is you have to feel connected to it in some way emotionally. I try to make it sound dreamy. I try to make it sound peaceful, soothing. Because whenever I make most of my songs, you get a ball in your stomach. That’s how I want to translate it. All types of emotion, but the goal is to create R&B, pop-infused trap music.

AllHipHop: Talk about releasing Resilience during the quarantine.

909Memphis: That was a project I worked on for 6 months. 2020 as a whole, it was easy for me to relate the actual meaning of the project to everything in the world going on. Not only for my own personal s### that I need to be resilient towards, but the project could also relate to issues that the whole world’s going through. I really made it everything that I was feeling in that moment. “Peace of Mind” is one of my favorite ones because literally everything I talked about is real s###. Friends hating on you, your friends are not f###### with you. Because people get jealous so releasing it in quarantine, topic-wise made it easy.

Although it feels like people aren’t really as connected as they would’ve been. During quarantine, I haven’t done very much either. When people get back into it, 2021 when we’re allowed back out, it becomes more entertaining. It’s gonna be 10 times cooler next year. My craft got better this year as a whole, being able to be locked in.

AllHipHop: Who was on the intro, “HD”?

909Memphis: This guy named Cass Kid, he’s an English radio host who works for BBC. 3 years ago, I dropped my biggest song called “Pure Spirit.” All of London started f###### with that s### because I was wearing an England jacket. People were like “who’s this American kid wearing English gear?” Little did they know, I still have English Heritage and blood. Everybody over there connected with BBC were blown away by it for some reason.

When I went over there, we had a little interview. He posted it on his podcast, it was a pretty lit situation. One thing that’s cool about this Hip Hop s### is I’m able to make a lot of connections in the United States. But for some reason, my bond with English artists is super crazy. Because I’m English and American at the same time, it’s a stamp. We all work together, we all support each other regardless. Even if we don’t talk, we’re still all sharing each other’s s###. English people, the scenes are different over there. The culture’s different over there, it’s super sick to be able to have those types of people.

AllHipHop: Who were you chillin’ in the clouds next to in the cover art?

909Memphis: That’s honestly supposed to mimic my girlfriend. I like to keep my relationships private because I’m coming up. The bigger I get, the more people want to know what happens behind-the-scenes of my life. But yeah, that’s my shorty in the clouds. You see the plane in the cover art too. I flew to Nashville, I met her. I made that song “HD” before I even met her, it manifested everything. I was going through a big breakup the spring/summer of 2019, then I met my current girlfriend coming into 2020. It was super cool to see the plane. I took a flight and I came back in love. We live together now, she supports my music all the way.

The cover art also has devil horns and a halo mixed in too. You gotta be resilient. You feel your temptations of one side, but you also gotta realize your morals and where you came from. Not everything that hurts has to be bad. You can learn from different things, you can take different perspectives. Because at the end of the day, everything’s perspective. It’s perspective no matter what, in any type of relationship. Whether it’s your friendships, your family members, your mom, your girlfriend, your pets, it’s perspective.

It’s all about what you perceive to be as something that’s very important to you. Sometimes people don’t feel a certain amount towards something else that you do, that’s why everyone beefs honestly. My man Eli made the cover, the bottom of the cover is darker. You can see under the plane, it’s dark. You can see the sun rays at the top left corner coming in. It shows that every dark time will have a light, and every light time will eventually come to an end.

AllHipHop: I was listening to “Fake Love,” how tight is your circle?

909Memphis: My circle’s super tight. When I was a kid though, I was always going through trouble with people for some reason. First of all I was a soccer player, you know how it is. There’s always little beefs, but nah. People where I come from in a very conservative part of the United States, the DC area or Virginia, there’s not a lot of creativity up there. Me and my homies were always on some different s###, always beefing with people. That’s how it is in suburban VA, everyone’s beefing with each other and competing. Everything I said in that song is true,I only have a couple homies that I can really call my brother and can trust them with my entire heart.

Growing up as a young man, even in the music industry, everything is relationships. There’s people out there that want to f### with you for mutual gain, but there’s also people that really care about your well-being. At the end of the day whether it’s working a real job or I’m doing my music, I only want to win with people I know are there for me regardless. I got to keep away from that fake love. I got to stay away from these people that really be making my days darker.

It can be anything. You know how easy it is for something so small to f### up your day? It’s so easy. I stay super to myself because it’s easier that way in my opinion. I used to not be this way, I wanted everybody to f### with me. I wanted everyone to understand who I was. As you get older, the less you really are wanting to give yourself to others or looking for validation your whole life.

AllHipHop: 3 things you need in the studio?

909Memphis: I need peace and quiet in the studio. I really like working alone to be honest. Anyone makes their best s### alone. I won’t lie, having one to two people in the studio with me is good because it puts a little pressure on me to actually make some hits in front of them. Having people in the studio also improves your stage presence, it makes you gain confidence. I be very experimental with my s###. Especially as someone who’s a singer but uses autotune, I like to f### with the autotune and make it sound super weird sometimes. Some of those sounds come out weird as hell, but the final product is sick. I need water, lots of water. Right now, my mouth is dry as s###. [laughs]

AllHipHop: Talk about your relationship with the Lyrical Lemonade family.

909Memphis: Honestly, Cole hasn’t reached out to me at all yet. It sucks because I want it to happen really badly, but they’ve been posting my music for a couple of months now. They posted me the last week of 2019, then every single drop from then. They’ve been showing love every single time, shoutout Danny Adams. He be writing up my stuff all the time off the strength, showing me love. I know some of my management have a relationship with Cole and his manager too, they’re really super cool people. I really want to make sure me and Cole get a video in one day because that s###’s gonna go crazy.

AllHipHop: How was modeling for G Star?

909Memphis: That s### was super cool, I really wish I could do more. A year and a half ago, I was in New York because I was going to meet up with a potential manager. Cooking up with some friends out there as well. I posted the YouTube video snippet for my song “Top Off,” I bought some Instagram promo because why not? They just started doing that Instagram promo s###, I said f### it. So I put $5 into it, then next thing you know I had a DM from some casting agent. She said “yo, are you in town right now? We need a ghostrider for the G Star commercial with Dexter Navy.” Dexter Navy shot it, that s### was super lit. I got to meet Dexter Navy. They made me literally hop on a Chevy and ghostride like a freaking stunt devil. It was the craziest s### honestly, but it was so fun! They still follow me, still show me love with my posts. Their clothes are beautiful.

AllHipHop: What would you be doing if you weren’t doing music?

909Memphis: That’s a hard one, I guess I’d still be doing soccer. I’d be coaching kids full-time. I got my degree in marketing too so I’d want to go into marketing a professional sports team. I don’t plan on doing that because I think my music’s pretty fire. I’ma go up some more and keep working hard.

Azealia Banks Is Boiling Cats And Going Bankrupt, Reports Say

It looks like Azealia Banks has gone bankrupt. The one time promising prospect of Hip-Hop, has turned into social media sensation. I don’t know where people get their money from, or how they pay their bills, but numerous reports are suggesting there the New York-born rapper isn’t doing any of that.

Azealia Banks Raises Concerns With Shocking, Bloody Photo

So here’s the scoop. Previously, Azealia Banks had a pricey home that went into foreclosure. And that home with subsequently put on the market. Initially it was just reported that the rapper SIMPLY could not pay THIS bill anymore and therefore gave up the home instead of paying another mortgage. But, as the house has sold, it is being reported through a real estate company, that it was sold due to bankruptcy. That’s a little bit of a different distinction. Foreclosure, means you don’t have the money to pay for A HOUSE, but bankruptcy means the institution she owes money to liquidated her stuff. Or took it. Either way, it’s on the market.

Sometimes they will allow you to create a repayment schedule instead of just not paying at all, but typically when you’re dealing with these types of assets it just means you’re not paying anything. And you start over, creating a new life of good credit overtime.

Now I am not sure what is up with Azealia Banks in her life these days but the word is she moved down to Miami to start over again. I think that’s a good idea because Banks wasn’t doing great wherever she was before.

Social Media Users Drag Azealia Banks Over Alleged Posts About Pronouns, BLM & COVID-19

Uh, there are other reports saying the Azealia was boiling a cat…live for people to see. She allegedly dug up her cat – appropriately named Lucifer – and boiled it. Some reports say she ATE IT, which she denied. WHAT? Is this a desperate plea for attention? Or is she insane? OR BOTH!?

She explained:

“Why do you think I would eat a dead cat when I can barely eat a dead cow.  It’s called taxidermy… Plenty of hunters with preserved deer heads hanging off their wall. Darlings… You guys are being racist and this is very un-black lives matter of you all. The cats head is soaking in peroxide to fully clean him, then I’m taking him to a jewelry shop to have it gilded. Lucifer was an icon. He deserves to be preserved.

A lot of you guys don’t know, Lucifer the cat died three months ago, and we had to put him in the ground, and we’re digging him up for the very first time.”

If I sound bitter, it’s probably because I am! I have been on the receiving end of her venom in the past and it wasn’t pleasant at all! We don’t do things here for bad intentions though, we more or less report the news.

Good luck to Banksy!

Lil Wayne And Kodak Black Still Looking For Donald Trump To Pardon Them!

Donald Trump has yet to pardon Lil Wayne or Kodak Black. Those two rappers were on the hot list of late pardons for the president, but now that 45 has been impeached can he even do that? I honestly don’t know but I will have to look into it real quick. Hold on one second and I’ll be right back.

Aha GIFs - Get the best gif on GIFER

I got it!

So, Trump still has the capacity to pardon people still, so we can expect a bunch of degenerates to be dumped back on the streets. But in your opinion, do you think he is thinking about Wayne and Kodak Black? I mean, he could have his handler‘s that make sure he keeps up promises or acts of “goodwill,” but I am not so sure that these guys are a priority at this point.

Joe Biden Rumored To Have Fired All Trump’s “Hitters” To Avoid Assassination Attempts

In fact, I think he doesn’t care about them at all. Currently, the president is not even paying Rudy Giuliani, his high priced comrade lawyer, his fees. Rudy has gone to bat for Trump in numerous instances to the point where he’s embarrassed himself and destroyed his reputation. He has gone so low that he seemingly elicited a sexual act in the “Borat” movie and was dripping hair dye in public view! These people are ruined! Some companies have gone so far as to BAN anybody that worked for Trump, because they are regarded as liars INNATELY!

If I was Lil Wayne, I would be worried too. She’s been living in the free world for a very long time and he’s looking at some serious charges, because he was caught with a gun on an airplane. I guess they let him slide on the drugs they found because those are no longer a part of the charges. Kodak Black is another story….dude is out here asking for law and order from jail. HUH? He didn’t do law and order and he was out in the streets, so I am not sure why he is expecting people to listen to him from behind those walls.

AllHipHop EXCLUSIVE: Lil Wayne Gets Sentencing Date Over Gun On Private Jet

All they had to do, was make music! Now they are looking to a racist narcissistic xenophobic demagogue to get them out of trouble. Stay tucked in with your people I will look out for you, but cross the line and you’re on your own.

Anthony Mackie And Damson Idris Shine In Netflix’s “Outside Of The Wire”

Anthony Mackie (“Captain America: The Winter Soldier,” “Hurt Locker,” and “8-Mile’) and Damson Idris (“Snowfall,” “The Twilight Zone,” and “Black Mirror’) star in a new movie “Outside of the Wire,” which is a futuristic take on the military and its role in what becomes a highly volatile, Dystopian future where Russia and the United States are on the verge of war. When you first look at this movie, you’re going to think perhaps there is a new superhero emerging. Or, Anthony Mackie is preparing for his future role as Captain America in the Marvel universe. “Outside of the Wire” may have “Winter Solider” vibes at first glance, but it is not that at all.

However, as the plot continues it is apparent that Leo (Anthony Mackie) is a super solider of a different sort, one that has taken Harp, a rebellious drone-manning soldier, under his wing. This standalone movie by Netflix envisions a future where cyborg & robots are as much a part of the military in America and Russia as human beings. But, the premise suggests, through Leo’s clandestine motivations, that this is a wrong route for humankind to take and that there must be a concerted effort to halt this trajectory. It seems to have an underlying antiwar theme over all but, It does not slow down the action, nor prevent bullets from flying.

Outside the Wire

First of all, let’s just speak about the elephant in the room: there are two Black men leading an action / adventure / thriller in 2021. It does not need to be stated, but this is the sort of normalization necessary to have progress in Hollywood. Expect kids to be flipping off chairs and play fighting if they are permitted to watch this thrill ride.

Anthony Mackie, in an interview, described this movie as a passion project, but it feels more like a primary project that he has expanded his creative palette into a New World under Covid-19. So grab some popcorn, get the family together, and watch this movie full of action, subplots, and twists and turns.

“Outside of the Wire” drops on Netflix tomorrow (January 15), and it is delight to watch.

Trick Daddy Catches Full Wrath Of Love & Hip-Hop Co-Star

I don’t know what Trick Daddy did with some woman is dragging him to hell and back in a new post that is circulating on social media. I know there’s a new season of Love and Hip-Hop on the way and that they have to do some free promotion for people to tune in. But this can’t happen at the expense of Trick Daddy!

I am literally trying to find out what happened, because some woman named

Geisha 305 (BAM!)

who is on the show or is about to be on the show posted a rant of epic proportions that ridicules Trick Daddy like nothing I have ever heard in my entire life. In the post she says that Trick Daddy made an attempt to prevent her from being on LAHH Miami. She also accuses him of dragging her on Instagram live and Facebook live, prompting her to make these videos.

If he did, he got everything that he was looking for and then some. Geisha 305 made fun of his lupus, his hairline, his features, and Trina even got a little dose in there as well. If this is a promotion, which I don’t think it is, it is certainly giving love and Hip-Hop what it needs and she probably has secured a spot on the show for bringing the drama and such a dramatic, natural fashion.

Honestly, I think Trick Daddy should just leave this one alone and let the sparks fly on TV, at least you’ll get paid for that.

I took a look farther and there is not a lot of information out there but Geisha 305 and Trick Daddy used to rap together. In fact, they were friends. They had a song dissing Trina! I cannot believe it…this is nuts.

Joe Biden Rumored To Have Fired All Trump’s “Hitters” To Avoid Assassination Attempts

JOE BIDEN IS NOT PLAYING!

Joe Biden has reportedly fired all of Donald Trump‘s “hitters” in an effort to protect himself from any potential attack on Inauguration Day and beyond. This is a rumor, but sounds reasonable. Donald Trump is the first president to ever be impeached TWO TIMES in American history and he’s looking to make more history going forward, as he’ll be the first president to ever be tried as an ex-president. As long as 45 does not have a “heart attack” or something…

The crazy thing is Donald Trump still has a lot of people within the government and beyond that support him. 70 million people voted for him in the last presidential election and those folks still exist. In government, enough Republicans flipped to impeach the president, but that does not represent the mania that looks outside in the world. So, President elect Joe Biden must contain with all of those people. It certainly feels like a life and death situation.

I got a tip that Joe Biden has fired all of Donald Trump “hitters” in an effort to clear out potential insurgents within the military ranks. As you know, a coup can occur much easier when they have force behind them. The Joint Chiefs of Staff told the troops to follow the Constitution and that their loyalty was to the Constitution, not the president. Is my understanding that this is never been done before but it was said overtly in an effort to usurp potential commands from Trump to do something bad to Joe Biden. Nothing is off the table.

As we also know, with the insurrection on the capital building, some things don’t have to be said directly to get the message across. In fact, Trump really did send a direct message to his supporters. He told them to “fight” and that Joe Biden did not win a lawful election. They got the message.

Clearly Joe Biden is not taking any risks!

Pop Smoke, Doja Cat & Rod Wave Among RIAA’s Gold & Platinum Class Of 2020

Fifty-three music acts earned their first Gold or Platinum Award last year. The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) celebrated those musicians by presenting the organization’s Gold & Platinum Class Of 2020.

Several high-profile Hip Hop artists were among the awardees. Doja Cat’s Hot Pink, Pop Smoke’s Meet The Woo 2, and Rod Wave’s Ghetto Gospel were honored with Gold Album Awards. Pop singer Tones And I was the only other rookie to make that list.

When it came to Multi-Platinum Single Awards, Hip Hop once again left an impact. Doja Cat was recognized twice for “Juicy” and “Say So.” Pop Smoke (“Dior”), Rod Wave (“Heart On Ice”), Jack Harlow (“WHATS POPPIN”), and 24kGoldn (“Mood”) crossed the 2x-Platinum mark too.

There were 20 Platinum Single Awards given out to new recipients in 2020. 24kGoldn (“VALENTINO”), Baby Keem (“ORANGE SODA”), Doja Cat (“Like That”), Don Toliver (“No Idea”), G Herbo (“PTSD”), JayDaYoungan (“23 Island”), Money Man (“24”), Pop Smoke (“For The Night” & “Mood Swings”), and others scored Platinum records.

In addition, the RIAA distributed 48 Gold Single Awards to first-timers including ones for 03 Greedo (“Trap House”), Chloe x Halle (“Do It”), Fivio Foreign (“Big Drip”), Giveon (“LIKE I WANT YOU”), iann dior (“emotions,” “gone girl” & “Prospect”), J.I the Prince of N.Y (“Need Me”), Mulatto (“B*tch From Da Souf”), SiR (“Hair Down”), and Snoh Aalegra (“I Want You Around”).

“We are thrilled to induct 53 artists into RIAA’s Gold & Platinum Class of 2020. Earning your first Gold or Platinum Award is a sign of true success and limitless possibilities. Congratulations to this year’s artists, their labels, and teams!” states Mitch Glazier, RIAA Chairman & CEO.

Azealia Banks Connects Backlash Over Boiling Dead Cat To Black Lives Matter Movement

At this point, many people have chosen to add Azealia Banks to the group of celebrities on their personal “do not address” list. The talented, but troubled, recording artist has spent years alienating potential fans because of her perceived racist, homophobic, and generally problematic comments.

This week saw more backlash directed at the New York City native after Banks posted a video to the internet of herself supposedly digging up her dead cat and boiling its body. There was even speculation that the “212” spitter planned to eat the feline’s remains.

Banks took to her verified Instagram account to confront the latest controversy. According to the 29-year-old firebrand, the footage that went viral was representative of her appreciation for taxidermy and not a culinary special featuring her former pet.

“Why do you think I would eat a dead cat when I can barely eat a dead cow? It’s called taxidermy…” wrote Banks on her IG Story. “Plenty of hunters with preserved deer heads hanging off their wall. Darlings… you guys are being racist and this is very un-black lives matter of you all.”

She went on to add, “The cat’s head is soaking in peroxide to fully clean him, then I’m taking him to a jewelry shop to have it gilded. Lucifer was an icon. He deserves to be preserved. You girls are not tough like me.” Banks also highlighted certain religious rituals associated with Catholicism, Christianity, and Judaism.

In one post, the Broke with Expensive Taste album creator pointed out that Catholics “consume” the “body and blood” of Jesus Christ as part of First Communion which often uses sacramental bread and wine as stand-ins for actual human blood and flesh.

Banks also took a direct shot at Christians. She told the followers of Jesus, “Please shut y’all cannibal vampire a#### [the f###] up lol and go buy the pastor a new Mercedes lol.” Later, AB uploaded another video of her cat with a caption of her saying she misses the animal “so bad.”

In recent months, there were concerns that Azealia Banks was dealing with serious mental health issues. Some observers believed the rapper expressed suicidal thoughts on social media before announcing she was “fine” and “better than before.” She also blasted the media for covering that story and told the press to ignore her if she does kill herself.

Post Malone Helps Give Away 10,000 Pair Of Crocs To Frontline Healthcare Workers

With most of the national political news surrounding the ill-fated MAGA Capitol coup and Donald Trump being impeached for inciting an insurrection is currently dominating the airwaves, the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic is not getting as much coverage at the moment.

However, the coronavirus is still ravaging America as infection numbers and death totals continue to spike across the country. Even as COVID-19 vaccines begin to be distributed to citizens, support for those individuals who are taking care of the sick and hospitalized is still very much needed at this time.

Grammy-nominated recording artist Post Malone is teaming with the Musicians On Call nonprofit organization and the Colorado-based Crocs brand to distribute footwear to people working in the healthcare profession. Staff at MOC’s partner hospitals across the nation will receive free pairs of Post Malone x Crocs Duet Max Clog II.

“The stress of the pandemic on staff in all areas of the hospital has been unrelenting and we have been doing what we can to continue bringing them the joy of live music. We are so grateful to Post Malone and Crocs for joining us in providing even more relief when they need it the most through this generous donation,” said Musicians On Call President/CEO Pete Griffin. “Thanks to them, caregivers at 70 hospitals nationwide will have the added support of their Crocs to help them through their day.”

The shoes are being given away to frontline caregivers, housekeeping staff, and other healthcare workers who care for patients in various units including COVID-19, cardiac, oncology, ICU, surgical care, pediatrics, hospice, and more. Susan Hernandez, DNP, MBA, RN, chief nurse executive at UT Southwestern Medical Center adds, “We are grateful for this donation of footwear from Musicians On Call for our frontline health care workers and appreciate the recognition and caring it represents.”

Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey Addresses Banning Donald Trump From The Platform

Yesterday, Donald John Trump became the first President of the United States to be impeached twice. The U.S. House of Representatives voted 232 to 197 to approve an article of impeachment charging Trump with “incitement of insurrection” against the U.S. government.

Ten House Republicans voted against their own party leader and aligned with the Democrats in order to hold the lame-duck President responsible for inciting a mob of MAGA supporters to attack the U.S. Capitol Building in Washington, DC. Five people died during the failed January 6 coup attempt to overturn President-Elect Joe Biden’s election victory, including one U.S. Capitol Police officer.

Unlike with his first impeachment in 2019-2020, Trump was not able to use Twitter to rage-tweet about the proceedings or spread false conspiracy theories to his millions of followers. Twitter, along with many other social media companies, banned the president from its platform after the 1/6 Capitol Insurrection.

The de-platforming of Trump led to debates about free speech online and inconsistent enforcement of Twitter’s terms of service violations. Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey addressed why his private business decided to remove the sitting POTUS from the service. In a series of tweets, the 44-year-old billionaire technology entrepreneur laid out an explanation for the unprecedented move and his vision of achieving an “open internet.”

Dorsey tweeted:

I do not celebrate or feel pride in our having to ban @realDonaldTrump from Twitter, or how we got here. After a clear warning we’d take this action, we made a decision with the best information we had based on threats to physical safety both on and off Twitter. Was this correct? I believe this was the right decision for Twitter. We faced an extraordinary and untenable circumstance, forcing us to focus all of our actions on public safety. Offline harm as a result of online speech is demonstrably real, and what drives our policy and enforcement above all. That said, having to ban an account has real and significant ramifications. While there are clear and obvious exceptions, I feel a ban is a failure of ours ultimately to promote healthy conversation. And a time for us to reflect on our operations and the environment around us. Having to take these actions fragment the public conversation. They divide us. They limit the potential for clarification, redemption, and learning. And sets a precedent I feel is dangerous: the power an individual or corporation has over a part of the global public conversation. The check and accountability on this power has always been the fact that a service like Twitter is one small part of the larger public conversation happening across the internet. If folks do not agree with our rules and enforcement, they can simply go to another internet service. This concept was challenged last week when a number of foundational internet tool providers also decided not to host what they found dangerous. I do not believe this was coordinated. More likely: companies came to their own conclusions or were emboldened by the actions of others. This moment in time might call for this dynamic, but over the long term it will be destructive to the noble purpose and ideals of the open internet. A company making a business decision to moderate itself is different from a government removing access, yet can feel much the same. Yes, we all need to look critically at inconsistencies of our policy and enforcement. Yes, we need to look at how our service might incentivize distraction and harm. Yes, we need more transparency in our moderation operations. All this can’t erode a free and open global internet. The reason I have so much passion for #Bitcoin is largely because of the model it demonstrates: a foundational internet technology that is not controlled or influenced by any single individual or entity. This is what the internet wants to be, and over time, more of it will be. We are trying to do our part by funding an initiative around an open decentralized standard for social media. Our goal is to be a client of that standard for the public conversation layer of the internet. We call it @bluesky. This will take time to build. We are in the process of interviewing and hiring folks, looking at both starting a standard from scratch or contributing to something that already exists. No matter the ultimate direction, we will do this work completely through public transparency. It’s important that we acknowledge this is a time of great uncertainty and struggle for so many around the world. Our goal in this moment is to disarm as much as we can, and ensure we are all building towards a greater common understanding, and a more peaceful existence on earth. I believe the internet and global public conversation is our best and most relevant method of achieving this. I also recognize it does not feel that way today. Everything we learn in this moment will better our effort, and push us to be what we are: one humanity working together.

AllHipHop EXCLUSIVE: A Boogie Sued For Destroying Rental Home, Landscape And Abandoning Cars

Rap star A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie is known for doing damage on the mic, but he’s also accused of wrecking a house.

The Bronx-bred, New York rapper is accused of ruining a property he rented from a doctor and his wife in Mahwah, New Jersey.

On September 1st, 2017, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie entered into a 12-month lease to rent a luxury property in the city.

The rapper plunked down a $15,000 security deposit and agreed to pay $10,000 each month to rent the home from Dr. Lawrence Guarino and his wife Carolyn.

In December of 2018, A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie allegedly abandoned the leased property without proper notice. To make matters worse, the Guarinos insist the rapper caused significant damages all over the house, to the tune of $263,592.24.

A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie is accused of ruining the landscape, leaving the bathroom toilets clogged, cutting the carpet and replacing it with mismatched pieces, and leaving two vehicles abandoned on the property.

The couple says the rapper allegedly vacated the house and left the doors unlocked and opened. His carelessness allowed water to infiltrate the property, resulting in extensive damages to the high-end interior finishes.

The Guarino’s claim A Boogie left the house in a condition that left it unable to be leased until extensive repairs were conducted.

The destruction was so bad, Dr. Guarino contacted the Mahwah Police Department, to report the damage and possible vandalism to the abandoned home.

The Guarinos are suing A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie and his business High Bridge The Label. They are demanding a jury trial in the Superior Court of New Jersey.

The last few months have been filled with drama for A Boogie, born Julius Dubose.

On December 7th, 2020, the rapper’s entourage was involved in a shootout after his birthday party had a club in Teaneck, New Jersey.

The next day, the New Jersey police raided his Demarest, New Jersey house and busted him for possessing several guns, and a small amount of weed.

Ludacris Trying To Up His Terrible Cooking Skills In New Culinary Show

Over the years, Ludacris has proved there isn’t much he can’t do when it comes to the world of entertainment.

In addition to being moving over 24 million units as a best-selling rapper, Luda has had a successful acting career, most notably as “Tej” in the hit franchise “Fast & Furious.”

And even though Ludacris owns a restaurant in Atlanta called Chicken-N-Beer, there is one thing he sucks at – cooking.

“I absolutely love food and have always appreciated the art of cooking, but I can’t lie – I have no idea what I’m doing in the kitchen,” said Ludacris. “I’m on a mission to change that and master one cuisine at a time – it’s going to be delicious.”

Ludacris hopes to change that narrative in a new one-hour series for Discovery+ called “Luda Can’t Cook.”

The rapper has teamed up with veteran producer Will Packer to start in the series, where he will be schooled by James Beard Award-nominated chef, Meherwin Irani.

“The juxtaposition of a uniquely talented mega star like Luda against a backdrop that he has no real knowledge or skill set in makes for some highly entertaining shenanigans!” said Will Packer.

Meherwin Irani will work with Luda during the series to help the rapper step up his culinary game, by introducing him to various techniques through a series of masterclasses in the kitchen.

After Luda has his cooking skills up, His recipes will be put to the test when he serves a room full of VIPs who will judge The rap stars dishes.

“Luda Can’t Cook” will start streaming on February 25th exclusively on Discovery+.

Dr. Dre’s Wife Suffering From Post-Traumatic Stress Syndrome Over His Violent Behavior

Dr. Dre’s wife has made some new shocking claims against the super-producer as their divorce proceedings winds through the court.

According to filings that were just recently made public, Nicole Young has accused Dre of shocking, violent behavior.

Nicole reiterated her claims that her soon to be ex-husband has a violent temper.

To back up her allegations, Nicole told the court that Dr. Dre held a gun to her head two different times, during their 24-year marriage.

The first incident happened in 2000, while the second alleged act of abuse happened in 2001. According to Nicole, Dre also punched her in the face twice: once in 1999, and again in 2000.

And, Nicole insists more recent acts of extreme anger from Dr. Dre left her terrorized in her own home.

“Andre kicked down the door to a bedroom in which I was hiding from his rage in 2016,” Nicole Young said. “Andre has verbally and emotionally decimated my personhood to the extent that I currently suffer from post-traumatic stress syndrome.”

Nicole maintains that she was forced to sign a prenuptial agreement under the threat of violence, something Dr. Dre has adamantly denied.

Rich The Kid Blasts Jay Critch For Being Disloyal Over Contract Dispute

Rapper Rich the Kid and his artist Jay Critch continue to beef on the internet, over a contractual dispute over a bad record deal.

Last weekend, Jay Critch took to the internet to blast Rich the Kid over his deal with Rich Forever Music.

The Brooklyn rapper is trying to get out of his deal with Rich Forever Music, which was established by Rich The Kid in 2016, and is distributed by Interscope Records.

Jay Critch is asking to be freed from his contract, however, it looks like Rich The Kid is not having it.

“I signed Jay when I had a two-bedroom apartment. I flew him out when I had 5k to my name and signed him (Off the strength of Gramz who you didn’t do right w either) I gave a platform and made him who he is today,” Rich the Kid fumed.

According to Rich, he even attempted to rework Jay Critch’s paperwork, but apparently, that was not enough to appease his disgruntled artist.

“I got him a new deal to get out of his b####### (which your lawyer ain’t take no part in) then he tried to snake 2 me go behind my back for a little bag…,” Rich the Kid continued. “You say you want out of a contract you signed and I haven’t made $0 off of you. Stop making it seem you can just say ‘oh I’m not in a contract no more.’ I put you on tour with Future your first year of being signed. I put you on & you have NO loyalty.”

However, Jay Critch did not back down from his complaints about being an artist on Rich Forever Music and his desire to sever his ties with Rich the Kid altogether.

Jay Critch accused Rich the Kid of attempting to control his career, which he said he was more than capable of handling himself.

“I’m a grown ass man I can run my own deals silly U D##K riding tryna block s### holding on to that paperwork,” Jay Critch snapped back.

EXCLUSIVE: “Buss It” Creator Erica Banks Talks New Music, Her Influences, Megan Thee Stallion And More

Dallas, Texas rapper Erica Banks is starting 2021 off by handling her business. Erica, who is signed to Carl Crawford’s 1501 Certified Entertainment imprint, just earned a distribution deal with Warner Records.

Over the past few weeks, her hit single “Buss It” has gone viral on TikTok and Instagram, and in the process, spawned a celebrity challenge which has caught fire across the internet.

During a sit-down with AllHipHop, Erica talked about her music, her come up and career being compared to Megan Thee Stallion, who also got her start on 1501 Certified Entertainment.

AllHipHop: Tell us a little bit about who you are and what defines Erica Banks.

Erica Banks: For those of you who don’t know, I am Erica banks. And I think the best way to describe Erica Banks is just a turnt up, unapologetic artist. This is my third year rapping, third-year recording, so I’m pretty new to everything. But it’s been a breeze so far.

AllHipHop: So tell us about some of your influences. You have a very Southern, Midwest kind of thing going on. Tell us a little bit about that.

Erica Banks: My influences would definitely be Nicki Minaj and Missy Elliott. I was really big on them growing up as a kid, I was a barb and everything during that era. So just seeing them do what they do on TV and me being a kid, it was really fascinating. And they were just my biggest experiences they made me wanted to rap.

AllHipHop: Do you feel like your sound is specific to where you’re from? There are some people who say you kind of have a piggybacked off of Megan, but others say that’s just the Midwest sound.

Erica Banks: It’s definitely where I’m from. I just have a southern sound or an accent. It just comes from us being from the same area. And that’s where a lot of people get the whole “Oh, she sounds like Megan.” We do sound similar in the way that we say things, however, we don’t sound like identical twins.

AllHipHop: Right? That’s like a Brooklyn accent.

Erica Banks: Yeah.

AllHipHop: How did you meet Carl Crawford and 1501 Certified Entertainment?

Erica Banks: It was actually on Instagram Live. Carl was on live. And I joined the Live. And at the time, people were submitting music and he was giving them feedback. And I decided to submit my music in hopes that he would come across it and he did. So he played my song online and gave me some great feedback. Two weeks after that, he reached out to me personally in regards to me joining the team. And you know, I was interested.

AllHipHop: Wow. So what has the experience been like? so far? Seems like you have a really big buzz, tell us about the experience of joining on board, fresh off of the very public breakup between him and Megan thee Stallion.

Erica Banks: It’s crazy in a good way. Things are starting to change for me, things are starting to get a lot busier, a lot more intense. Now I have a schedule. And before I didn’t have a schedule. So now I have a list of things to do every single day. But it is fun. You know, it keeps me occupied and busy. I’m always doing something. So it’s definitely something that I’m enjoying.

AllHipHop: Is there any pressure coming after someone else who’s had so much success? Do you feel any discomfort with people possibly comparing you and whether or not you’re going to measure up to the same level of success?

Erica Banks: I don’t worry about that just because I know what I’m capable of as an artist. And I have a lot that you know, I’m going to accomplish so I don’t ever worry about, “Oh, am I gonna be able to do what this person did or what that person did” because I’m more than sure that I’ll be able to do, if not more than what some of these people did definitely be able to do what they’ve done.

AllHipHop: So tell us what else is going on? What’s new, what can we expect coming from you?

Erica Banks: I put out my tape. So if you have not checked it out, go check it out. I actually just dropped two videos. “Buss It” and “All of These Hoes.” Both songs are on the tape. So I have more music videos coming, I have shows coming, and meet and greets, but we have to keep that to a minimum due to the pandemic. But when the world does open back up I’ll definitely start having events, shows, things that people can physically come to.

AllHipHop: Any dream collaborations?

Erica Banks: Yes, Dream collaboration would definitely be Nicki Minaj, Future, I love Future, and Missy Elliott.

AllHipHop: In the sea of so many female rappers, what do you think you bring to the table that’s different than other female rappers?

Erica Banks: I’m definitely bringing versatility to the table. And when I say versatility, I’m speaking on singing, I’m speaking on storytelling, I’m speaking on turn up of music. I don’t just make one type of music. If you just really didn’t listen to my catalog, I have a little bit of everything. So I feel like what I’m able to bring to the table is versatility. And I’m able to give you whatever, you know, not just rap or not just turn up.
