Jon B is a rarity: a white artist in R&B who never compromised his craft for pop crossover. He stepped away from album-making for more than a decade to prioritize family, and now, returning to a transformed music landscape, he rises like a phoenix. Born Jonathan David Buck, Jon B is back with Waiting on You, a set steeped in classic soul. He brings along vibrant collaborators—Rick Ross, Tank, and Alex Isley—but the album, start to finish, is unmistakably Jon B.
AllHipHop’s Chuck Creekmur—aka Jigsaw—sat down with the R&B mainstay at WonWorld Studios for a conversation that feels both like a reunion and a reset. Fresh off the release of his album Waiting on You, Jon is in classic form—writer, producer, vocalist—reaffirming the warm, soul-first sound that made Bonafide a touchstone in 1995 and still packs venues today.
In this candid talk, the singer revisits a pivotal era when Hip-Hop and R&B learned to share the same room, revealing how his studio session with Tupac, Pac’s final recorded verse, helped push the line authentically. He salutes mentors and peers (Babyface, Nas, Tank, Donell Jones, Rick Ross) and spotlights rising collaborator Alex Isley, whose tone he calls timeless.
Beyond credits, Jon centers authenticity. He was reared in a classical music household, a lifetime steeped in Black music culture and an 18-year marriage that grounds the star between sold-out weekends and school-day routines. Jon B makes a powerful case for R&B that grows up without growing dull. Watch the full interview below or some of the highlights in the edited transcript.
Tupac: The Studio, The Blessing, The Last Verse
Jon B: “Hip-hop and R&B weren’t really fused yet. We didn’t give people a choice…‘take it or leave it.’ Tupac being on the record changed everybody’s mind.”
In the lab with Pac: “We were in the studio two weeks before he went to Vegas, three or four hours in and we were already halfway done. As tough as his persona was, Pac was the nicest, most diligent worker. He was cutting another song in the next room while working on mine.”
Afeni’s green light: “I was reluctant to put it out after he died, didn’t want to exploit my man. Afeni Shakur told me, ‘My son loved that song. He wanted it to come out.’ That’s what made me release it.”
Creative push: “I’d drift from the melody and Pac would lock me in, ‘Nah, it goes like this…’ He coached and produced me too.”
Babyface & The 18-Year-Old Major-Label Run
Jon B: “Babyface was and is a mentor—vocally and musically. Signing to Yab Yum Entertainment with Tracy Edmonds opened the door to Epic Records. I was 18 walking into Sony like, ‘Whoa’…publishing deal, record deal, Learjet flights to New York.”
Michael Jackson: Remix + Phone Call
Jon B: “I remixed ‘You Are Not Alone’—they didn’t ask many people. Michael called the studio: ‘I love it—it’s different from the original and I like it.’ Later I shook his hand at the BRITs. He’s the goat of goats—my first favorite artist.”
Nas Pulled Up to the House: “Finer Things”
Jon B: “Nas came to my spot—we’re playing pool, chilling. I play him the beat. He goes, ‘That’s some male Sade—smooth. I can rock over that.’ He wrote the song twice. First version was dope; he said, ‘I hate it, I’ll redo it.’ The second time, he asked for names, cars, visuals—turned it cinematic.”
“If I was your man, your knowledge would expand till we both are equal… There’s three things on my list… Number one, you got to be real… Number two, be who you are… Number three, give me peace and I’ll show you the world.” —Nas on “Finer Things” as recited by Jon B
Authenticity, Race, and Kicking Down Doors
Jon B: “Early on my complexion was a challenge, people made jokes. I didn’t see other artists in my lane getting that. I feel like I knocked down walls so the next man didn’t have to. Before there was a Justin Timberlake or Robin Thicke, I’d already dropped three R&B albums with platinum singles. This isn’t dress-up. I’ve lived R&B and Hip-Hop since junior high.”
The New Album: Classic Soul with Heavy Friends
Jon B: “Waiting on You is me bringing it back to what you know me for. Guests include Rick Ross, Donell Jones, Tank, and Alex Isley (Ernie Isley’s daughter).
Tank pulled up to my studio. I asked which verse he wanted—he said, ‘You bodied those. Let me put a bridge on it.’ Then he gave it the bridge of life-piano, strings-uplifted the record. Alex has this classic, Sade-esque subtlety but her own jazziness. She heard a joint and cut it exactly as I wrote it. That’s the best compliment to a songwriter.”
Marriage, Family, and the Business That Actually Works
Jon B: “I’ve been married 18 years—two daughters (18 and 11). My wife is my manager—clothes, videos, bookings. If it wasn’t for her, this might not be the same interview. We keep it classy, no reality shows, but we did our first magazine cover together and hit Sherri and Tamron Hall to celebrate our 18th. Real talk: a lot of rappers managed by their wives are the ones doing well. Corporations can take 20% and not really pull for you. Your wife will, because it’s her household too.”
30 Years In—And Still Selling Out
Jon B: “Thirty years since Bonafide—shows are sold out, people singing album cuts that weren’t singles. I’m going to sing my heart out until I can’t. The celebration continues.”
August Alsina shut down grooming accusations and confirmed his relationship with rumored boyfriend Zu, after a photo post sparked backlash over their age gap and timeline.
The New Orleans native, who turns 33 later this month, faced criticism online after hinting he and Zu have been together for nearly five years. That detail led social media users to question when the relationship began, prompting Zu to directly address the speculation.
“I’m a grown ass man, with his own mind and free will,” Zu wrote in a lengthy Notes app message shared to social media. “I met August when I was already of age, an adult. Aug didn’t even know me when I was 16 or 17…not sure where that came from.”
He confirmed their romantic relationship, adding, “Yea there’s a slight age difference but y’all pick and chooses who to judge when it comes to that. We will have known each other for 5 years toward the end of the year, so he’s speaking in future terms because that’s where we plan to make it.” He ended the post with, “Hope this clears up any confusion.”
But the internet didn’t quiet down.
One user commented, “‘August is my boyfriend’ gone head and clear the AIR for anyone confused.”
Others remained skeptical, questioning the maturity gap and timing.
One critic wrote, “it really doesn’t babe regardless if he met you at 18 or 19 you weren’t grown and he was grown as the f###.”
Zu clapped back, “Awwwe cry me a river.”
The exchange continued with the critic responding, “i’m not sad i wasn’t groomed or dating a predator i like people in my age group.”
Zu replied, “Everybody entitled to the opinion, ik what it is..and I’m living the greatest life.”
August Alsina Weighs In Following Backlash
Another user added, “This don’t clear up anything. If anything makes y’all sound more guilty.”
Alsina didn’t stay silent. He fired back in a separate post, writing, “Guilty? This word implies that you thought yall held some sort of court or dominion over two grown ass people to be judged for some sort of outcome…. The level of delusion and narcissism yall live in is psychotic! Yall don’t even hold authority in your own life… let alone, MINE! Heal & pay ya rent family!”
He also revealed, “Zu lied to me about how old he was when we first clicked up. Granted, he was over 18… but the fact still remains. & I found out later, upon meeting the family.”
Alsina dismissed the “predator” label and made it clear that Zu is with him by choice. “Play somewhere, where it’s safe,” he added, telling critics to stay out of their relationship.
Donald Trump’s hair and health are the internet’s latest obsession and the theories are wilder than ever.
The internet has been set ruminating over speculation after new photos of the former president surfaced, showing him looking noticeably different. Social media wasted no time letting the jokes fly. Comments like “Where is his hair?,” “That is not a healthy man,” and “Grim Reaper do your thing” spread like wildfire, making Trump the reluctant star of another viral storm.
Trump disappeared from public view for a few days, which only created more conspiracy. When he finally popped back up, the pictures didn’t do him any favors. His hair appeared thinner. Some even said that wig is gone! Axnd that familiar orange glow seemed dimmer than usual. The hat he wore looked tight enough to be covering something. Some of the comments I saw wondered if Trumpy had quietly gone bald.
I know you heard this next rumor. A lot of folks online are convinced he’s dealing with some kind of health crisis. His hand, which has been photographed a lot, looks like it has a recurring growth. Theories are running laps around the truth, which we do not know. They go from minor illness to something far more serious. One extreme MAGA commented, “Cut that hand off, damn it!” They want to save the president. A lot of people do not want that.
The Trump doppelgänger theory made its way back to the front. Some claim the man seen on the golf course yesterday wasn’t him at all, just a stand-in double keeping up appearances while the real Trump rests. The man is almost 80. Those naps get longer and longer…until the big nap.
Seriously, the timing couldn’t be worse. While the world deals with mass shootings, wars and global instability, Trump’s priority seemed to be hitting the golf course. Is there something we should know?
The first thing I saw was, “He’s not on ‘roids anymore.” The internet can be a terrible place. So began my trip to find the truth in the rumors.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson traded in his normally giant physique for a leaner look at the Venice Film Festival. Like the internet dark places I peruse, audiences were stunned. The 53-year-old wrestler-turned-actor slimmed-down for his role as MMA legend Mark Kerr in the new film “The Smashing Machine.”
The transformation was like a shot across the world. Somehow, I think it was apart of the marketing of this movie. I had not heard of it until now. Also, it could be his run and being taken seriously as a thespian. At Saturday’s Miu Miu Women’s Tales event, The Rock stepped out in a blue button-up and black trouser. He has not looked like this in decades. He was joined by co-star Emily Blunt, who plays Kerr’s ex-wife, Dawn Staples.
Social media immediately started calling him “The Pebble.” Honestly, I think the jokes are corny, because “The Rock” is still a big dude. I am sure he could bust a couple skulls if needed. But that’s another story.
The film tells the story of Kerr’s rise in UFC and MMA and his struggles with prescription drug addiction. But according to Johnson, the story cuts deeper than cage fights.
At a Monday press conference, Johnson opened up about taking on the most challenging role of his career. “When you’re in Hollywood — as we all know, it had become about box office. And you chase the box office, and the box office can be very loud and it can become very resounding and it can push you into a category and into a corner,” he said.
“I just had this burning desire and voice that was saying, ‘What if there is more and what if I can?’” Johnson continued. “Sometimes it takes people that who you love and respect, like Emily and Benny, to say that you can.”
He admitted the role forced him to confront questions he’d avoided. “I looked around a few years ago and I started to think, you know, am I living my dream or am I living other people’s dreams? You come to that recognition and I think you can either fall in line — ‘Well, it’s status quo, things are good, I don’t want to rock the boat’ — or go, I want to live my dreams now and do what I wanna do and tap into the stuff that I want to tap into.”
This reminds me of Sly Stallone in “Copland.” That was a good movie but did not turn him into that heavy actor he sought to be. Hopefully The Rock gets some grace.
“I’ve been scared to go deep and intense and raw until now, until I had this opportunity,” he said at the press conference. Dame Dash would pause him, but we’re going to let it slide.
“The Smashing Machine” is set to hit theaters Oct. 3.
Post Malone pushed back his two major London concerts after transit strikes derailed plans to safely move tens of thousands of concertgoers through the city.
The rapper and singer was set to perform at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on September 7 and 8, but both shows have been delayed until September 20 and 21.
The decision came after London Underground workers announced walkouts that would halt key services across the capital.
Promoter Live Nation addressed the disruption directly in a statement shared on Instagram.
“We’re sorry to announce that due to planned strikes on the London Underground, we’ve been forced to reschedule the two Post Malone concerts at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. Without a Tube service, it’s impossible to get people to the concert and home again safely, and therefore no event licence can be granted for the nights of the 7th and 8th September.”
The strike action, organized by the Rail, Maritime and Transport (RMT) union, includes Tube drivers, signal operators, and maintenance crews.
The union is pushing for a reduced 32-hour workweek and a pay increase, citing ongoing disputes over conditions and compensation.
Malone’s postponement follows a similar move by Coldplay, who also had to adjust their Wembley Stadium tour dates due to the same industrial action.
Their shows originally scheduled for September 7 and 8 were moved to September 6 and 12.
Postie is on the European leg of his Big A** Stadium Tour, supporting his sixth studio album, F-1 Trillion. The tour began in Salt Lake City on April 29 and will wrap in London on September 21.
Jay-Z is pressing forward with his $20 million defamation lawsuit in Alabama federal court, while the woman who accused him of sexual assault — and later dropped the case — is now pleading to remain anonymous, citing fears for her mental health and safety.
The woman, known only as Jane Doe, is begging the judge to keep her identity sealed. Her legal team says revealing her name could cause irreversible psychological harm.
“From a psychiatric standpoint, the forced disclosure of her identity in this context would have catastrophic consequences for her mental health,” said Dr. John T. Olsen, Doe’s psychiatrist. “Such public exposure would destabilize her current mental health recovery. The impact would likely be severe, with a high risk of exacerbation of her psychiatric symptoms, deterioration of her functioning, and a profound negative effect on her overall prognosis.”
Doe’s legal battle with the Hip-Hop mogul began after she filed a civil suit in California in late 2024, accusing Jay-Z and Sean “Diddy” Combs of assaulting her at a party following the 2000 MTV Video Music Awards.
She claimed she was 13 at the time and had been drugged. Both men denied the allegations. The case was voluntarily dismissed with prejudice in February 2025, meaning it cannot be refiled.
Jay-Z, whose real name is Shawn Carter, then filed a defamation suit against Doe and her attorneys, Tony Buzbee and David Fortney, accusing them of fabricating the claims to damage his reputation and extort money.
His complaint alleges that Doe privately admitted the story was false and that her legal team encouraged her to pursue it anyway.
Court documents claim investigators working with Carter’s legal team visited Doe’s home and spoke with her parents. She described the encounters as “intimidating and terrifying.”
Despite her identity being sealed, Doe says she and her family have already been targeted with online threats.
Her attorneys argue that all parties already know her name and that keeping it confidential won’t affect Jay-Z’s ability to prepare for trial. They also pointed out that Carter once requested a pseudonym order for a defendant in a different case.
Still, the judge has not yet decided whether Doe can remain anonymous.
The irony is hard to ignore — Doe now says her life and reputation would be destroyed if her name is made public, the very type of damage Jay-Z says he suffered when she made the allegations.
Jay-Z has made it clear how deeply the situation has affected him and his family.
“My greatest sorrow is for my family. My wife and I will have to sit our children down to explain the cruelty and greed behind these accusations. It’s devastating that a child of mine, now at an age where friends can read the news, might face questions about something so unfounded… This is yet another loss of innocence that no child should endure.”
The next hearing in the case has not been scheduled yet.
Cardi B and controversy are like peanut butter and jelly; they just go together. Fresh off a courtroom victory in her recent assault case, she’s not only walking away with a win. She left that opposing lawyer looking like burnt toast. She was so entertaining, people considered it a show they were sad to see go. Cardi “ate him alive” and then got moving forward to more pressing matters.
Cardi was busy running another play. For months, the rumor mill has swirled about her being pregnant again. Some said she looked it, some said she wasn’t and others were flat-out confused. In the middle of testifying, she declared her pregnancy was a “disability” that seemed to be impacting her NOW…you saw it. She was hobbling out of court and needed help getting into the black truck.
Turns out, Cardi had been trolling the whole time. After the trial wrapped, she revealed that she wasn’t pregnant at all. She had been rocking a pillow under her clothes, waddling around like she was nine months in! Theatrics that we truly did not care about. But, we did. She sure got a big kick out of it.
The real story is the music. Cardi’s been teasing her upcoming project, titled Am I The Drama? but outside of a few singles, the public hasn’t been given that album-level moment she’s capable of. The court antics, fake pregnancy reveals and social media spectacles keep her name buzzing. (You know there is a BBL-sized “but” coming.)
But the question persists: Do people still care about the music, or are they starting to get fatigued by the circus?
Hip-Hop in 2025 has had its wins, but the scene is desperate for a heavy-hitter to drop something game-changing. Cardi’s a big dog! She’s got the charisma and star power to do it. I am admittedly a little tired of gimmicks. I want the bars, the artistry.
I could be barking up the wrong tree, but we need more commercially and culturally viable artists.
Drama is cool, but Hip-Hop needs to give birth to some more classics!
Young Buck won’t have to hand over $71,721.30 in post-bankruptcy child support to his ex through his Chapter 7 case, according to his trustee.
Trustee Erica R. Johnson asked the court to deny Shannon Robertson’s claim to collect child support that accrued after the rapper filed for bankruptcy in 2020.
Johnson said the Bankruptcy Code doesn’t allow that kind of debt to be paid from estate funds.
“The Trustee sympathizes with Ms. Robertson’s position that she is owed post-petition child support arrears,” Johnson wrote. “However, the Trustee’s hands are tied.”
Robertson, who shares a child with the Nashville rapper, had already secured a court-approved claim for $81,471.70 in unpaid child support that built up before the bankruptcy was filed.
Robertson had hoped the extra funds could be pulled from any leftover assets that might return to Young Buck, whose real name is David Darnell Brown.
However, Johnson made it clear in the filing that any surplus must be returned to the debtor, not allocated to new claims.
The trustee asked the court to approve her final report and dismiss Robertson’s objection. If the court agrees, Robertson would need to pursue the $71,000 outside the bankruptcy process.
Young Buck filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy in January 2020, citing debts to the IRS, child support obligations and a long-running financial dispute with 50 Cent.
The estate raised over $1 million by selling off assets, including his music catalog, jewelry and a Rolls-Royce.
Roughly $445,000 of that went to legal fees, leaving about $600,000 to pay creditors.
Wack 100 claimed he sent Drake a 28-minute recording of Young Thug allegedly dissing him from jail, further intensifying an already messy controversy surrounding the Atlanta rapper.
The veteran music manager and podcaster says the audio came from a jailhouse call and includes Thug speaking negatively about Drake.
Wack claims he sent it to Drake without revealing what exactly was said. The alleged recording has not been released publicly.
Wack’s latest move appears to be retaliation in an ongoing dispute with Thug over comments the rapper made about Quality Control CEO Pierre “P” Thomas.
In a previously leaked call, Thug labeled P a “rat” and accused him of betraying Lil Baby. P fired back on social media, calling Thug and his supporters “broke rats.”
Wack has made it clear he won’t back down unless Thug apologizes for his comments about P and others.
The alleged Drake diss has left many confused, especially since Thug and Drake have long appeared to be tight.
Drake reportedly gave Thug $1 million after his release to help him get back on his feet.
While behind bars, Thug even tried to mediate between Drake and Future amid their rumored tension with Metro Boomin.
In another leaked call, Thug praised Drake, saying he changed artists’ lives by supporting them. That contradiction is fueling skepticism around Wack’s claims.
Wack 100 Claims To Have More Recordings Of Young Thug Jail Calls
Still, Wack insists he has more audio in the vault. He claims to have hours more audio and is threatening to release more jail calls involving Thug and other artists if the apology doesn’t come soon.
Thug’s legal troubles have already led to a string of leaks, including interrogation footage and phone calls where he discusses loyalty, snitching and internal issues within YSL.
On Friday (May 10), a leaked track titled “Closing Arguments” surfaced, where Thug calls out Gunna, Woody and other YSL affiliates, denying snitching allegations and calling them “rats.”
Blueface’s brother claims his wife conspired with multiple lovers to kill him for financial gain tied to his famous sibling, a claim now tangled in a domestic violence case that has landed him in jail in Bakersfield.
Andre Lamont Harvey was arrested in March following an alleged assault on his wife while she was in bed with their child.
According to police reports, she accused him of physically attacking her during a dispute over infidelity. He now faces felony charges for spousal abuse and assault.
But Harvey insists he’s the real victim. In court filings, he alleged that his wife plotted to have him killed, motivated by his ties to Blueface and the money that connection might bring.
The documents describe a supposed scheme hatched involving her “multiple lovers,” though no evidence has yet supported the claim.
The case has drawn attention not only because of the disturbing allegations but also due to Harvey’s link to Blueface, who is currently incarcerated at Lancaster State Prison.
That incident involved a confrontation with a security guard at a North Hollywood nightclub, and a later drug-related offense led to a four-year sentence.
According to his manager [Wack 100] (https://allhiphop.com/tag/wack-100), his release is expected sometime between mid and late 2025 after time served and credits.
Meanwhile, Harvey’s legal journey is on pause until a mental competency hearing scheduled for next month determines whether he’s fit to stand trial.
That decision will be critical in deciding whether the case proceeds to sentencing or plea negotiations.
Harvey remains in custody at a Kern County facility.
Wine has long held a place as the evening drink of choice. It’s familiar and often romanticized as the perfect end to a stressful day. Unfortunately, alcohol is notorious for disrupting sleep, even when consumed in small amounts. It interferes with REM cycles and causes midnight awakenings. Wine can sabotage the very relaxation it’s supposed to deliver.
With sleep health becoming a growing concern, many are exploring soothing alternatives that help them wind down without wrecking their rest. If you’re looking for gentler ways to calm your mind and body at the end of the day, here are five compelling options.
1. Herbal Tea Rituals That Soothe Mind and Body
Herbal teas are a timeless wind-down remedy celebrated for their calming properties and ritualistic appeal. Chamomile remains a fan favorite due to its mild sedative effects and floral flavor. Others swear by lemon balm, passionflower, or valerian root.
Creating a nightly tea ritual adds a psychological cue that it’s time to unwind. The act of steeping, sipping, and slowing down becomes a comforting habit that signals bedtime is near. Choose caffeine-free blends and consider incorporating a beautiful mug or soft lighting to enhance the sensory experience.
2. CBD and THC Edibles: A New Kind of Nightcap
With cannabis becoming increasingly mainstream, more people are exploring microdoses of CBD or low-THC edibles as an alternative to their nightly glass of wine. Edibles like cookies are designed to ease anxiety and promote calm without the grogginess or hangover that alcohol can cause.
Unlike alcohol, which often fragments sleep, some cannabis-infused products are formulated to help users fall asleep and stay asleep. Dosage and strain type matter. Some blends are more energizing, while others offer body relaxation, ideal for bedtime. It’s worth starting small and keeping track of how your body responds.
3. Magnesium: The Mineral Your Sleep Might Be Missing
Often overlooked, magnesium plays a pivotal role in sleep regulation. This essential mineral helps control the body’s stress response and supports the production of melatonin, the hormone responsible for sleep-wake cycles. People who struggle with falling or staying asleep may be unknowingly deficient.
Magnesium supplements, especially in the glycinate or citrate form, are popular for their calming effects. You can also increase your intake through foods like leafy greens, nuts, seeds, and whole grains. Some prefer soaking in a magnesium-rich Epsom salt bath as part of their pre-sleep ritual, which offers the added benefit of muscle relaxation.
4. Non-Alcoholic Nightcaps With a Functional Twist
The non-alcoholic beverage market has undergone a revolution. No longer limited to sparkling water or sugary mocktails, today’s non-alcoholic nightcaps are infused with functional ingredients designed to support mood, focus, and sleep.
Drinks with adaptogens like ashwagandha, reishi, or L-theanine (an amino acid found in tea leaves) offer a calming experience without the buzz. Some brands market their beverages specifically as “relaxation drinks,” offering a sophisticated and adult alternative that scratches the same itch as wine.
Look for labels that disclose ingredients clearly, and consider trying a few different varieties to find what complements your evening routine. These beverages provide a sense of indulgence minus the negative sleep effects.
5. Breathwork and Aromatherapy: Slowing Down
While not a drinkable substitute, breathwork combined with aromatherapy is a deeply effective way to replace wine’s calming influence. Deep, controlled breathing lowers cortisol (the stress hormone), slows the heart rate, and activates the parasympathetic nervous system, our body’s natural rest mode.
Pairing breathwork with calming scents like lavender, sandalwood, or frankincense enhances the effect. You might incorporate essential oils into your environment using a diffuser or apply them topically with a carrier oil.
Just five to ten minutes of mindful breathing while inhaling relaxing aromas can transform your evening. It also encourages long-term resilience to stress, unlike alcohol, which tends to suppress and delay emotional processing.
Night Routine Tips Worth Stealing From Sleep Experts
Sleep specialists agree on one thing: routine matters. Setting a consistent bedtime and wake-up time can help your body regulate its natural clock. There’s more you can borrow from their nighttime playbook:
Dim the lights an hour before bed to signal your brain it’s time to power down.
Avoid screens or use blue light blockers to prevent melatonin suppression.
Journal briefly to dump the day’s stress or prepare for tomorrow.
Keep your bedroom cool and quiet; sleep thrives in cave-like conditions.
Incorporating even one or two of these tips can greatly improve sleep quality. Consider your evening routine sacred. What you do before bed sets the tone for how you rest and recharge.
Conclusion
As the culture around relaxation evolves, so too do the options we have for unwinding. The nightly glass of wine is no longer the only answer to stress and exhaustion, and for those prioritizing sleep, it may be one to reconsider altogether.
From herbal teas and magnesium to functional beverages, cannabis edibles, and mindful rituals like breathwork, there are many ways to cultivate calm without sacrificing sleep quality. These alternatives offer not just better rest, but also a deeper connection to how we care for ourselves. So the next time you reach for the corkscrew, consider reaching for something else.
Metro Boomin has enlisted renowned psychologist Dr. Elizabeth F. Loftus to testify in his defense as he prepares to face a civil sexual assault trial in Los Angeles federal court.
Dr. Loftus, a leading authority on memory science, is expected to argue that the recollections of Vanessa LeMaistre—the woman accusing the Hip-Hop producer of rape—may be unreliable due to psychological factors including trauma, therapy, and media influence.
“Based upon my review, it is my professional opinion that there are significant memory issues in the current case,” she stated.
The lawsuit, filed in October 2024, alleges that Metro Boomin drugged and sexually assaulted LeMaistre in 2016 after giving her Xanax and alcohol during a studio session in Los Angeles.
She claims she later woke up in a Beverly Hills hotel room to find him assaulting her and became pregnant as a result, ultimately terminating the pregnancy.
LeMaistre’s lawsuit also claims that lyrics from Metro Boomin’s 2017 track “Rap Saved Me” refer to the alleged incident.
Dr. Loftus highlighted discrepancies in LeMaistre’s medical records as part of her expert opinion.
She said, “I do not have any direct information that [LeMaistre] was deliberately lying, but there is one fact that raises this potential: According to information in her deposition, [LeMaistre] attempted to amend certain portions of the medical record associated with her November 2016 abortion.”
She noted that the changes related to the timing of the alleged encounter and whether abuse occurred, which LeMaistre initially denied.
“There may be other explanations for why [LeMaistre] attempted to change the records, and this might be revealed by further discovery,” Loftus added.
Dr. Loftus, a Distinguished Professor at the University of California, Irvine, has testified in more than 300 high-profile cases, including those involving Michael Jackson and the Duke lacrosse players.
Her research has significantly influenced how courts approach memory, particularly in cases involving trauma and suggestion.
Metro has denied all accusations and called the lawsuit “a pure shakedown.” If he prevails, his legal team has signaled a possible counterclaim for malicious prosecution.
After failed mediation talks in July 2025, the case is now set for trial on September 23, 2025.
Tyrone Blackburn is once again under fire in federal court after Fat Joe accused the attorney of relying on bogus AI-generated legal citations in a motion to dismiss the rapper’s defamation suit.
Fat Joe’s legal team argued that Blackburn’s motion to toss the case is riddled with “misrepresentations and fabrications of legal authority clearly generated by AI.”
The filing points to “at least ten instances” where Blackburn cited “hallucinated” case law—legal references that either don’t exist or misquote real rulings.
Fat Joe sued his former hypeman, Terrance Dixon, as well as Blackburn earlier this year, claiming they tried to extort him by spreading false accusations of sexual misconduct and underage relationships.
The lawsuit alleges Dixon and Blackburn launched a coordinated smear campaign to damage Fat Joe’s reputation and pressure him into a multimillion-dollar payout.
The claims include false social media posts accusing the Bronx rapper of pedophilia and orchestrating murder-for-hire plots.
Blackburn responded with a motion to dismiss in August, which Fat Joe’s attorneys now say is “fundamentally untrustworthy.”
“Blackburn’s egregious misconduct in drafting the Motion overshadows Defendants’ substantive arguments,” the filing states. It adds that Blackburn “irresponsibly relied on artificial intelligence-generated content without manual verification.”
The brief also highlights Blackburn’s checkered history with the courts. Fat Joe’s lawyers argue this isn’t a one-time error, but part of a pattern.
“It is time, once and for all, for Blackburn to be sanctioned for his flagrant disregard of his duties and responsibilities to the court in fabricating and intentionally misconstruing legal authority,” they wrote.
By submitting a motion filled with fake citations, Fat Joe’s team says Blackburn is attempting to derail the case and avoid accountability.
They ask the judge to deny the dismissal, impose sanctions, and move the case forward. This isn’t Blackburn’s first run-in with AI-related legal trouble.
Judges have previously reprimanded him for submitting documents “replete with inaccurate statements of law” and “wholly fabricated quotations from caselaw.”
One Pennsylvania judge recently found that Blackburn engaged in “a conscious effort to deceive and mislead the Court.”
In a separate defamation case involving T.D. Jakes, U.S. District Judge William Stickman ordered Blackburn to pay over $76,000 in legal fees after he submitted filings riddled with AI-generated citations and false claims.
Stickman called the errors “clear ethical violations of the highest order.”
He told the court he had enrolled in legal education classes to avoid future issues. The judge in Fat Joe’s case has not yet ruled on the motion to dismiss.
6ix9ine clowned Young Thug on social media after Thug called out “rats” in his leaked track “Closing Arguments” and name-dropped Gunna, Yak Gotti and Lil Woody—despite his own sketchy past with the law.
The rainbow-haired chaos magnet didn’t waste a second before throwing shade.
Right after Thug’s lyrics hit the internet, 6ix9ine jumped online and posted, “I’m driving to the studio right now, I didn’t know a rat can call someone else a rat.”
Thug’s track had already, of course, caused controversy because Young Thug labeled “Gunna a rat, Woody a rat, Yak a rat.”
He also made sure folks knew he still stands on business, rapping, “N##### real rats inside this motherf*cker, I did what I did to try my best to get my brother out the situation but don’t get it confused — ain’t no rat in me, kid, at all.”
That bar might’ve hit different if Thug hadn’t been trending for his own questionable moves.
Last month, jailhouse footage leaked showing him in an interrogation room, which got folks speculating about whether he was cooperating too.
Then more audio dropped where Thug threw darts at Kendrick Lamar, Lil Baby, Lil Durk, Andre 3000 and others while waiting on trial in his massive YSL RICO case.
For context, both Gunna and Thug accepted plea deals. Gunna had to publicly state that YSL was a gang, while Thug took a 30-year sentence, suspended for time already served and 15 years on probation, and he’s banned from Atlanta too.
Meanwhile, 6ix9ine’s entire rap legacy is tied to snitching.
So now you’ve got one rapper who snitched on his crew and is calling out another rapper for calling people snitches while also being accused of snitching.
Warren G is stepping up to the plate with a new title—professional baseball team owner—as he joins the leadership group behind the Long Beach Baseball Club, a new franchise set to debut in the 2026 Pioneer Baseball League season at Blair Field.
The Hip-Hop veteran is partnering with the City of Long Beach and Cal State Long Beach to bring the independent league team to life.
But for the “Regulate” rapper, this move is about more than baseball—it’s personal.
“This is about giving back to the city that raised me,” Warren G said in a statement. “It’s about building something positive for the next generation.”
The Long Beach Baseball Club plans to blend America’s pastime with the city’s cultural flavor, mixing music, food and community events into the game-day experience.
The club’s vision is to reflect the energy and creativity of Long Beach while fostering opportunities for local youth.
The Pioneer League, which operates as an MLB Partner League, is expanding westward with the addition of the Long Beach team.
The league provides a platform for players to develop while giving cities without major league teams a chance to support professional baseball.
Warren G isn’t just putting up money—he’s investing time and energy. With deep roots in Long Beach and decades of experience in the music industry, he’s bringing a community-first approach to ownership.
The goal is to inspire young people, create local jobs and offer affordable entertainment.
“I want to bring something dope to the city that helped shape me,” Warren G said. “This is about more than baseball.”
But Warren G isn’t the only rap legend getting into the baseball business.
Too $hort joined the ownership group of the Oakland Ballers, a team formed after the Oakland A’s announced their move to Las Vegas.
Both rap icons now helm baseball teams in California that are in the Pioneer Baseball League, so it will be fun when the Long Beach Baseball Club and the Oakland Ballers face off.
Cardi B and Joe Budden. Tsk, tsk, tsk! Cardi has once again had it up to here with male podcasters dissecting every syllable that comes out of her mouth. And social media detectives swear she’s aiming her venom directly at Joe Budden. I didn’t actually hear her call Joe’s name in the rant but somebody could have recorded late. It sounded more like she was coming for the whole fraternity of men with microphones who can’t stop talking about her life, body, and every move. But, according to the masses, it’s Joe who caught the subliminal.
Cardi’s rage isn’t new, though, it’s part of her cycle. Every few months she unloads on somebody, fans rally around her and the rumor mill spins even faster. Cardi’s been in the spotlight long enough to know that celebrity gossip is oxygen for fame. It is THE GAME. And when you’re a super mega star like Cardi, your name will forever be headline currency. We’re in the attention economy and she’s one of its biggest commodities. Like it or not.
The Bronx bomber insisted in her tirade that she works harder than people give her credit for, remains loyal to her fanbase and owes everything to God for her success. That’s nice. But here’s the irony: she doesn’t realize that the nonstop chatter is part of what keeps her relevant. Fans, haters, bloggers, and yes, podcasters, all contribute to the Cardi ecosystem. Without that chatter, the shine dims. That’s the cruel joke.
She’s clearly in album mode, ready to shift the conversation to music instead of drama, but she keeps giving people more reasons to talk about the drama. That’s the paradox. Cardi wants peace, but peace doesn’t trend. Controversy does. If she wants people to focus on the art, she may have to lean into the noise differently…because the noise isn’t going away.
Young Thug ripped into former YSL affiliates and denied being a snitch in a leaked track and video titled “Closing Arguments” that surfaced online Friday (September 5), delivering a raw monologue aimed at clearing his name and torching his former crew.
The unreleased song opens with Young Thug addressing the swirling accusations that he cooperated with authorities in the ongoing YSL RICO case.
In the opening moments, he makes it clear he stands on his own code.
“You can’t compare no n#### to me, bro,” he insists. “N##### real rats round this m###########. Yeah, n####, I did what I did, trying my best to help my m############ brother get out the situation he was in, n####. I have no regrets. But don’t get it confused, don’t get it f##### up — ain’t no rat in me at all, kid. I’d rather die than tell on a n####, for real, for real. Only thing I regret is ever in my life f###### with y’all f### n#####. F### all y’all suckas.”
He didn’t stop there. The Atlanta rapper continued to draw a line between himself and others in the YSL camp, saying, “And it’s a big difference between me and y’all. Y’all n##### pointing n##### out and saying they did the crime, n#### I said he didn’t.”
Throughout the track, Thug name-drops several YSL members, calling out Gunna, Yak Gotti, YSL Slug and YSL Woody as “rats.” He also took aim at YSL Obama, SlimeLife Shawty and YSL DK, making it clear he’s cutting all ties.
Though Thug hasn’t publicly addressed the leak, he was active on social media the same day, paying tribute to late YSL artist Lil Keed, who died in 2023 at age 24 from a medical condition.
“I should’ve cherished him more then u n#####,” he wrote alongside a photo of Keed.
The post didn’t land well with everyone. Some users in the comments accused Thug of trying to manipulate public sympathy.
“bringing the dead up is basically pulling the sympathy card,” one user wrote. “‘Thug’ you need to do better ‘slime.'”
Another added, “U was probably talking s### about him too.”
One comment read, “You should have cherished the 5th amendment more.”
Thug isn’t staying silent for long. He announced a sit-down interview on the “Perspektives With Bank” podcast, set to drop Monday morning (September 8).
Kid Cudi is stepping away from music and into the director’s chair with his upcoming short film “Mr. Miracle,” which he says features a powerful story and a surprise guest appearance.
Fresh off the release of his eleventh studio album Free, the rapper-turned-filmmaker is pivoting toward visual storytelling.
“Off to edit the Mr Miracle short film in a bit. Man, im so hyped. Yall gon love this. Plus theres a special cameo in it. A new homie in my life, that has all my respect and is a f##### talented creature,” he wrote on social media.
Just got out of the edit for Mr Miracle visual and man, this is the illest s### ive ever directed in my life. Very cinematic. And f##### POWERFUL
The announcement came as Cudi reflected on his journey as an artist now entering a new phase of independence. Free marked his final project, released under a major label via Wicked Awesome and Republic Records.
“Free was my last album on a major label (which is part of the reason I called the album Free 😌) and now im lookin forward to a new chapter and being independent,” he shared.
Cudi also thanked supporters for embracing Free, which includes singles “Neverland,” “Grave” and “Mr. Miracle.”
“I just wanna say Thank You to all my fans for supporting Free, spreading the word and sending love!! I’m so grateful I have yall in my corner,” he wrote.
While he’s pressing pause on music, Cudi made it clear he’s not disappearing.
“I think ima officially take a step back for awhile from droppin albums and focus on directing, more acting, painting and fashion for sure. Its gonna be awhile til yall hear another album from me, but I promise when I do come again, it wont be boring.”
The short film “Mr. Miracle” is expected to be released in the coming weeks.
Za’Darius Smith is officially off the board, and he won’t be wearing Detroit blue again anytime soon. The veteran defensive end was expected to go back to Detroit, but in a crazy twist of fate…signed with the Philadelphia Eagles.
Homie signed a one-year, $9 million deal with the Birds. Now, this is definitely a shocker to the fan in the D. There were weeks of speculation and social media rumor that he was re-signing with the Detroit Lions. Kash Doll even rocked his Lions jersey on stage. She went live with him on Instagram urging the Motor City team to bring him back. “We both know where I want to be. Hopefully, I can get back to Detroit because the coaching staff and everybody in the front office are great. When I’m there, I feel like a leader and like I can influence the young guys and do great things. Hopefully, I can get back to where I want to be in Detroit,” he said at the BET Awards earlier this year.
But as Lions general manager Brad Holmes hinted in August that the negotiations were not going well. Detroit released Smith because of escalating costs in his contract so they went back to the drawing board. His deal was about to more than double to $11 million. BLOOP! Now, he heads to Philadelphia at a slightly lower rate, but more than I’ll see in my life. The Lions did not want to pay that $11 milli!
But there is more: Smith skipped all of training camp. They did not know what kind of shape he was in. that’s a nice, big red flag for that franchise. I guess Philly feels differently. Smith seems to be excited to come to Philly. He’s talented and his lady can rap! That is what we want to see.
At 33, Smith still has gas left in the tank…and I am sure Kash Doll has some money in the bank! She’s dope!
Za’Darius Smith’s second act just happens to be in Philadelphia.
Taylor Davis rapped along to Drake during a college football game and unintentionally went viral, later revealing she’s a lifelong Hip-Hop head.
The ESPN sideline reporter was caught on camera during Southern Miss’s 34-17 loss to Mississippi State at M.M. Roberts Stadium in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.
As Travis Scott’s “Sicko Mode” blared through the stadium speakers, Davis didn’t miss a beat, mouthing every word of Drake’s verse with full energy.
Another clip surfaced showing her vibing to a Nicki Minaj track, posted by Southern Miss DJ Kujho Carr, who gave her a shoutout on social media.
The moment quickly gained traction online, prompting Davis to explain her love for Hip-Hop on the SEC State of Mindpodcast hosted by former Auburn quarterback Jason Campbell.
“You know what, it’s something that really surprises people about me that all I listen to is rap,” Davis said. “I’m originally from a small town in Alabama, I went to Auburn, I live in Nashville, and I don’t listen to country music. I listen to rap and Hip-Hop.”
She added, “My memory is pretty good, so my lyrical prowess just comes out every now and then. Especially pregame when I’m getting in the zone.”
While Davis admitted the video made her “a little embarrassed,” she stood by the moment, calling it “a little cringe” but true to who she is. “I was just being myself,” she said.
Instagram users flooded her comments with praise, celebrating her word-for-word delivery and encouraging her to keep doing her thing.
Davis joined ESPN in 2014 as a production assistant and content associate.
She worked behind the scenes for four years before stepping into the spotlight in 2018.
She now covers college football in the fall and college gymnastics in the spring across multiple ESPN platforms.
Angie Stone died in a violent highway crash after a tractor-trailer slammed into an overturned van she was trying to escape, according to a wrongful death lawsuit filed by her children.
The van had nine people onboard and came to a stop in the left northbound lane with its lights still on.
Good Samaritans helped five passengers out of the vehicle, but Angie Stone and another passenger, Sheila Hopkins, were still trying to exit when a tractor-trailer barreled into the van at nearly 70 miles per hour.
Hopkins survived with serious injuries. Stone was thrown from the van and pinned underneath it. She died at the scene.
The truck, owned by CRST, was being driven by Jared Wilkinson, who was allegedly wearing headphones and listening to music at the time of the incident. The lawsuit claims the truck’s collision mitigation system failed to activate, preventing the brakes from engaging before impact.
Stone was the only person killed in the crash. The others suffered minor or no injuries.
Known for her soulful voice and chart-topping hits like “No More Rain (In This Cloud)” and “Wish I Didn’t Miss You,” Stone earned Grammy nominations and left a lasting mark on the Hip-Hop and R&B scenes.
Justin Bieber delivered his second surprise album of 2025 with a 44-track double release called Swag II, but not before a brief delay left his followers refreshing their screens in frustration.
The 31-year-old pop star had teased the project on Thursday by posting images of its bubblegum-pink cover, which was plastered across billboards and global landmarks.
The album was slated to hit streaming services at midnight on Friday, but when it didn’t appear on time, some of his most loyal listeners took to social media to vent.
Bieber responded in real time, sharing a screenshot of a text to his manager asking, “Where the album was,” and captioned it, “It’s comingggggg (sic).”
He followed up with more posts, writing, “Me waiting with u, not baiting u, not sure wut the f**kkyyy is going on clicking refreshhhhhh (sic)” and, “I’m sorry for the wait their (sic) telling me any second.”
Roughly an hour after midnight in California, Swag II finally went live across platforms. Bieber confirmed the drop by posting screenshots from Spotify, Apple Music and other services.
And oddly enough, one of the biggest talked about songs was not his collabation with Gunna, Sexyy Redd, Druski, Tems, Lil B, or Bakar, it was his cut “POPPIN’ MY S***” with Shreveport rapper, Hurricane Chris.
The new project follows Swag, a 21-track album released just two months ago with no advance notice. Swag II more than doubles that output, clocking in at 2 hours and 11 minutes.
This marks the first time the “Baby” singer has released two albums in the same calendar year. Before Swag in July, his last studio album was 2021’s Justice.
Young Thug’s week of hell continues to burn after more leaked jailhouse recordings were released featuring him taking aim at another Atlanta rap legend – André 3000.
Thug accused OutKast founder of failing to support emerging talent and calling his legacy irrelevant in today’s charts. In the audio, Young Thug claimed André 3000 was irrelevant.
“André 3000, you’re one of the biggest artists in the world. You became one of the biggest artists in the world. But you ain’t help nobody. You ain’t put nobody on,” he said.
The Atlanta rapper, who made the comments while awaiting trial in the YSL RICO case, went further, dismissing André’s current musical relevance.
“Now you vintage. Now you g###### can’t put out a song and go top 50. You see what I’m saying? You put a song out right now, you can’t even go top 50.”
Thug also questioned the real-world impact of André’s music, saying, “All that cap rap s###, that rap s### don’t mean nothing. In 10, 15 years, that s### don’t mean nothing.”
The criticism wasn’t new. Over the years, Thug has repeatedly distanced himself from André’s influence. In a past interview, he admitted, “I’ve never paid attention to him. Never in my life.”
He also once described working with André as difficult, citing the rapper’s selective nature and reluctance to collaborate.
The leaked call is part of a growing list of recordings from Thug’s time behind bars that have stirred controversy.
In other instances, he criticized Gunna for allegedly contributing to the RICO case, mocked Glorilla’s appearance, and dissed Quality Control boss CEO Pierre “P by accusing him of being a rat.
Thug later apologized for his remarks about GloRilla, saying he was “going through it” and didn’t usually speak to women in that manner.
Drake linked up with Cash Cobain and PARTYNEXTDOOR for a spicy new track called “Somebody Loves Me Pt. 2” and brought a whole new alias with him—say hello to “Slizzy Drizzy.”
The track, which dropped Friday (September 5), popped up during Drake’s two-hour Iceman 3 livestream and features Cash’s signature drill vibe.
Built off a flip of the original “Somebody Loves Me” from Drake and PND’s latest joint project, this updated version leans into the sultry, off-kilter sound that’s made Cash one of the most talked-about names in New York.
Drake throws in a slick bar—”I’m Slizzy Drizzy baby you know how I rock”—in a nod to Cash Cobain’s Slizzy movement.
The release caps off a packed summer for Cash Cobain, who’s been everywhere lately.
He linked with Justin Bieber for the title track on SWAG, dropped the baile funk-inspired “Feeeeeeeeel” that had TikTok dancing nonstop, and finally gave fans the long-awaited “Hoes Be Mad.”
All this is leading up to Cash Cobain’s next drop, Party With Slizzy.
