The Internet has impacted the music business in such a positive way. For many, it has opened countless new doors and lifestyles; it’s been wonderful in particular to rising artist C. Wavie! For him and many others around the world, the creation, promotion, and distribution of music have become just another way to be able to market the stuff we do to the world.
Without the internet, the only people would see or hear about our family and friends within a neighborhood or community. C. Wavie is actively using all the platforms to his advantage. With so many outlets and platforms, he feels a lot of artists and creators alike need to try to put themselves out on the internet, and give it they’re all.
C. Wavie would have to describe his music with one word, and that word is “Wavie.” Not it in the conventional sense of his music flows, to C. Wavie, music is like a tidal wave. “Some songs will build your emotions so high that you want to scream, others will make you want to dance, and a lot of the time my music is relatable.”
When it comes to being able to grow as an artist and working on stage presence, C. Wavie practices gratitude regularly, for both the reception and support they’ve received, on and off stage. As far as favorite tracks to perform, the artist had this to say:
“My favorite song to perform is called “Fountain” because I love the drop and the hook of the song and the meaning behind it.”
“Who is the source of some of the best advice I’ve received? The best advice would be from my manager!” He said, “It’s seriously uplifting to be told by a supportive figure in your life; You are good enough. You are better than anyone else in our city doing it. You just gotta believe In yourself.”
“I didn’t feel my stuff was good enough and I didn’t want to be looked at as someone who was just copying what their family members were doing.”
When asked about upcoming plans, C. Wavie had this to say about the future: “I’m in Album mode. I have put out a few singles and have a few more I will drop in the near future. Right now I want to put out this album. I have been working so hard on this album! It’s almost time to unleash the wave. Stay tuned!”
Rapper Kodak Black’s lawyer has commented on social media about his famous client being arrested for drug possession and on possible trafficking charges.
As reported by AllHipHop.com, the Florida rapper was arrested on Friday, July 15 in South Florida, on charges of trafficking in oxycodone and possession of a controlled substance, after troopers pulled him over and found a small bag with 31 white tablets of oxycodone and close to $75,000.
He was originally pulled over because his purple SUV had tint that seemed to be darker than the legal limit.
Bradford Cohen, the artist’s attorney took to Instagram and posted a meme that quoted Myra Kassim. It said, “In the absence of information, we jump to the worst conclusions.”
The image was accompanied by a caption that told fans that despite him being in a “different time zone,” he is already working on a resolution.
“I’m in a different time zone, but heard the reports and spoke to some witnesses,” he wrote. “I suggest not jumping to conclusions prior to all the facts in any situation. My office will be handling the situation.”
After doing additional research into the case, he said on Twitter “Never Judge a case based on an arrest. There are always additional facts and circumstances that give rise to a defense, especially in this case.”
“We will get him a bond today and move forward with resolving the matter quickly,” he concluded.
Never Judge a case based on an arrest. There are always additional facts and circumstances that give rise to a defense, especially in this case. We will get him a bond today and move forward with resolving the matter quickly. #kodak#kodakblack
I would be remiss if I did not say that Jaywin as an artist has to be on some label executive’s radar as one of the hottest up-and-coming artists coming out of the Carolinas. Not that a label is needed in this day and age to be successful, but in most cases, they are needed if you want to become global and have the power of a massive machine behind you as an artist.
They always say become the man in your city first, and then take over the world. That is exactly what Jaywin is doing. His latest performance at the Summer In Tha Carolina’s concert in Raleigh NC at the Lincoln Theatre clearly shows that he’s the man in his city and it was nothing less than a stellar show in every aspect. The confidence of Jaywin also shows as he brought out other artists like Uptown Maine, Mob Carry, and Donovan McCray to share the stage with him.
His latest single “Want Me 2” had the women singing along with Jay as he captivated the crowd with expert showmanship. It is clear that Jay knows his niche is the women that he attracts. This was just another show in a long line of shows that proves consistency is definitely a part of Jaywin’s vocabulary as he stays on point with doing shows, releasing singles, and full projects.
You can check out Jaywin’s performance at Summer In Tha Carolina’s at The Lincoln Theatre below.

Rapper Xzibit says he has gone from helping others pimp their rides to getting pimped.
Now, he is asking for a Los Angeles court to intervene.
The “Paparazzi” rapper is currently going through a messy divorce from his estranged wife Krista Joiner, where she is asking for him to pay spousal support.
According to TMZ, the chart-topper is asking a judge to deny her request pointing to the fact that Joiner is still living in their $3 million home with her new boyfriend (and his children).
Furthermore, X says his income has reduced since the 2020 pandemic. The rapper says he has not worked since 2019 and that what he thought would be a lucrative career in cannabis turned out to be a money pit.
Court documents state the former Loud recording artist is “struggling to make ends meet at the same time trying to uphold being a public figure, pay my own expenses and provide for my son.”
Xzibit also says that Krista, who filed for divorce in February, can support herself as he believes she earns approximately $175,000 a year.
He asserts in his counterclaim that the man is not only living in their $3,715,600 home rent-free but using it as the location to shoot a pilot for his new show. To add insult to injury, the new guy is taking down his artwork and RIAA recording plaques.
Xzibit’s team also claims that Krista has impacted his credit over the last year by leasing stuff she can’t afford and placing it in his or his business’ name.
She allegedly leased a 2021 Bentley and signed for the lease under his company name, Xzibit Inc., despite not working as an executive in the corporation.
Joiner allegedly forged his name on a check when she made the down payment. And when he found out, instead of getting her locked up, he asked her to return the Bentley because he couldn’t afford the car and insurance payments.
The rapper says that Joiner refused and hid the car for eight months before it was repossessed in January 2022. She filed for divorce within a month.

Remarkably, there are elements of this journey to marital emancipation that are similar to one of his musical mentors, Dr. Dre.
Xzibit is also fighting another legal battle. He’s attemping to get Viacom to pay him royalties for syndicating the hit show “Pimp My Ride” for years without paying him.
“I’m at it, hey @viacom_intl why is it you’ve made millions off the show #PimpMyRide I carried on my back and found ways to cut me out?” he wrote. “Like saying I would get percentages of all merch sold let alone streaming (which wasn’t even in the contract) and putting in the fine print ‘with my name and likeness’ then proceed to take my’ name and likeness’ off of ALL the merchandise including dvd sales after season 1?”
Xzibit continued, “To top that you guys went back and EDITED all of my music out of ALL entire seasons in order to avoid paying me for my publishing. Let’s talk about worldwide syndication!!!!”
Songs are meant to speak to our souls and experiences. Different stories, different storytellers. But what is clear is that when the message rings true, people understand. Garnet’s new single “Success”, featuring Jynxx Bravo, takes that story and makes amplifies it. From the very first lines, Garnet is balancing our brutal honesty with impenetrable vulnerability, something that is not too common in mainstream hip-hop.
Fusing contemporary R&B and emo rap, this song’s elements weave in and out of each other to create a tapestry of emotion, grit, and dedication. Whitney Houston’s vocals are tucked in the background, peaking out to compliment the vocals in the verse, while the beat itself is what allows the song to move forward.
Visually, the video is the perfect companion to the song, magnifying the story that it’s telling. The dark color grading compliments the night setting of the video. It reflects the grit and honesty that the music sets out to create. From the moments of self-reflection on the train at the beginning of the music video to the performance aspect, looking right at the camera, there is a measure of confidence and control that comes from walking a gauntlet.
Whether they will admit it or not, there isn’t a single musician who doesn’t dream of some modicum of success. Garnet not only has no problem talking about his journey to success but also talks about the unrelenting fear that gnaws at him – and anyone – during this journey. Of course, there are all the challenges that come from being in the music industry, but also additional challenges of being young with such big dreams.
Garnet’s lyrics “they said focus ahead but looking at you sideways” captures an all-too-real scenario where peers, friends, and maybe even family are supporting with empty, hollow words while they actually want to see failure. For any artist, this is unfortunately common and a difficult situation to not only navigate but to talk about. Once again Garnet throws himself out there as an example. It is difficult, but what’s more important: the acceptance of your peers or the achievement of your goals?
For Garnet, the answer is clear and so is the motivation behind his path and his dreams. “Momma one day I’m going to be on the front page” – a promise to never give up, to be a strong, capable man, to make everyone around him proud. Garnet shares with us that his early upbringing left him no room to be a kid. His father was incarcerated, forcing Garnet to grow up fast to take care of his family. There was no time to play because people needed him. And this was the spark that he needed.
Knowing all this, it’s no surprise or shock to see such fervor and drive from Garnet. He’s doing it his way and it’s evident that he has learned not to bend under the pressure of the industry. One thing you’ll quickly notice is that there is no objectification of women in this video; the other is that he talks of fame by praising himself, not necessarily bringing down others. To me, that spells out self-confidence and self-awareness. And there is no greater power than an artist who knows his worth through his own story.
If you’re a fan of Hip-hop and emo rap, this track will speak to you. However, it’s the honesty in the lyrics that will hook you forever.
Sugar Hill Records has had a storied history in the history of Hip-Hop.
The iconic rap label is known for releasing “Rapper’s Delight” in 1979 as well as a string of music that established Hip-Hop as a commercially viable art form. It is also known for unscrupulous business practices with artists.
Some of the past wrongs in publishing have have been righted Friday, according to Rahiem of Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five and MC Sha Rock.
Sha Rock, who is regarded as Hip-Hop’s first female emcee, posted the following on his Facebook page, outlining her and her cohorts’ plight:
We’ve finally won against Sugar Hill Records. Let me give you the back story Back in the early 90’s after returning to the United States from Germany. I worked effortlessly on finding an attorney to take on Sugar Hill Records. No one wanted to take my case. I eventually came across a woman who put me in touch with Artist Rights Enforcement in New York City, who fights for artist rights. I became their first hip hop client. I brought in the Funky 4+1 and then went to Rahiem to bring in the furious 5. I also tried to include the Sequence… to file a class action lawsuit, but they didn’t want any part of the law suit. 1979…. I recorded my first rap record under Enjoy Records. June 1980 the Funky 4 signed to Sugar Hill Records.
We’ve been back in forth to court since the 1990’s. We’ve won all of our cases. 42 years later I as well as the Funky 4+1 More, The Furious 5 and Reggie Payne Reggie Reg Crash Crew from the Crash Crew have been vindicated. We won our final judgement. People use to think I was tripping, simply because I’ve always spoken on the lawsuit and was determined to see this through. Some said let it go. I can’t discuss the amount; but it’s finally over. Or we’re be back in court if my money is short.
Rahiem, who rapped on “The Message,” offered a shorter, but telling comment.
I’m very happy to announce that after almost 40 years of litigation against Sugarhill records, we settled out of court after an independent arbitrator determined the amount owed and we were awarded back royalties and moving forward all of our writers & publishing will come directly to uS! Victory as of TODAY!!!!!
Sugar Hill Records was founded by Sylvia and Joe Robinson in the 1970s. Sylvia, the main force behind the brand, propelled songs like “Rapper’s Delight” by the Sugar Hill Gang and “The Message” by Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five into America’s national consciousness. Sylvia Robinson died in 2022 of congestive heart failure, but her family continued to managed the business affairs of Sugar Hill.
Big Bank Hank, a founding member of the Sugar Hill Gang, died in 2014 from cancer. Hank is notable for another reason: he stole his lyrics from “Rapper’s Delight” from Grandmaster Caz of The Cold Crush Brothers. Caz was never compensated or given just credit for the record. Whether or not he will be is unknown.
“Rapper’s Delight” sold a reported 5 million copies and was a top 40 hit. Currently, the original video has 15 million views on YouTube.
Beleaguered rap star Kodak Black has been arrested again.
According to reports, the Miami native was allegedly caught with Oxycodone pills and nearly $75,000 cash during a traffic stop.
The rapper, whose real name is Bill Kahan Kapri, held onto 31 Oxycodone pills and $74,960 in cash, according to reports.
Florida Highway Patrol said they pulled the rapper over at roughly 4:30 pm Friday afternoon when the rappers vehicle seemed to have tint that was legally too dark. Then, the cops say Kodak Black’s vehicle registration was expired, according to one report. Furthermore, it was found that his license was also expired.
The Oxycodone pills were found after they searched the car, initiated by the alleged smell of marijuana emanating from the vehicle.
The rapper was subsequently arrested and transported to Broward County Jail.
He is slated to perform at the Rolling Loud festival later this month.
Gillie Da Kid’s beef with Rick Ross has intensified over the last couple of days, and their feud may have reached a tipping point today (July 15tth).
The pair’s issues have been playing out on social media since an episode of “Million Dollarz Worth Of Game” featuring Gillie and co-host Wallo interviewing producer Southside.
During the episode, the Philadelphia rapper turned podcaster accused Rick Ross of making slick comments about him in an Instagram post, so he called during the episode.
Gillie also mentioned Rozay’s past as a Correctional Officer and said the rapper used to lock up guys like Wallo, who spent 20 years in prison for armed robbery before turning his life around.
Rick Ross wasted no time responding, stating, “I spend more money on my cows’ hooves than you do on your wife and kids every month. You should be taking notes.”
Rick Ross then revealed he was starting a podcast to compete with Gillie and Wallo’s#### show.
Gillie snapped back, saying Rick Ross should name his podcast “Lock It Up with Rick Ross,” along with the infamous photo of Rick Ross in his correctional officer uniform.
“Mind your f###### business, man, because you went on a n#### Instagram page comment about me calling me out my name my n#### for no m############ reason at all…
“You’re probably right n#### cuz I ain’t bought her. I caught her,” Gillie said. “She f#### with me because who I’m blessed to be, not because I blessed her with a fee.
“But ain’t you the n#### ‘I put Molly all in that drink, and she ain’t even know it,” Gillie said, mocking Rick Ross’s verse on the remix to “UOENO.”
The controversial line resulted in Rick Ross being dropped from a lucrative partnership with Reebok in 2013.
“G####### ‘Ricky Rape a B####.’ Stop talking about money cause money don’t unlame a lame. It’s a lot of sucker ass n##### out here with money and you on the list. Matter of fact, you the captain of The Suckers With Money Association Of America n####, and we ain’t impressed,” Gillie snarled.
Gillie claimed Rick Ross owed Meek Mill money and accused him of signing his Philly brethren to a “1914 slave deal.”
“A Harriet Tubman joint that he signed when he was 19, and now he’s 35. Thank God he’s f###### with them white boys. He f### around, be broke, busted, and disgusted f###### with you. But he’s a hell of a businessman, though. Salute to your Meek.”
Gillie also took the time to make fun of Rick Ross’s deal with Bel-Air, claiming no one drank the champagne anymore.
Gillie Da Kid did give props to Rick Ross’s massive mansion in Atlanta but claimed his residence was smack dab in the middle of the hood and that Rick Ross was constantly living in fear of being robbed.
He also had an unfortunate prediction for the cow Rick Ross is so proud of.
“You worried about them n##### jumping your wall every night. And I give that raggedy ass cow till Labor Day,’ Gillie said.
Funk Flex and Pete Rock are going at it and have for days. But, last night they took a hard left. Flex went on the radio and threw ever bomb he had at Pete Rock for over 20 minutes straight. In the diatribe, he maxed out Pete Rock of being a snitch.
But let’s go back a few steps. This all started earlier this week, when Conway The Machine of Griselda Records said that New York City DJs do not support his music. He was talking specifically about DJ Suss One and Funkmaster Flex. Apparently, these guys both like the Griselda movement and even Conway specifically. But the response was pretty serious. Funkmaster Flex went in and said some really harmful things. “You and your team have had a feature fromJay-Z, Eminem, Lil Wayne, J. Cole, Jadakiss, Travis Scott, French Montana, and more?…You’re a 40-plus ‘bars rapper’ sorry lyricist that has had every resource possible!,” Flex said. He also mentioned Kanye West and other notables.
But, then Pete Rock jumped into it.
When Pete Rock jumped into it, it got a little more touchy. And that is because he and Funkmaster Flex are from the same era (I think) and know each other very well. While Funkmaster Flex said he respects Pete Rock tremendously and loves his body work, he did not bite his tongue in his attack. He said many things about Pete Rock‘s character (as he sees it) and suggested he might be on drugs or alcohol, out of touch and also said he has not made dope songs recently. (Be clear, we do not co-sign this – just reporting on it.)
Now, we all love Pete Rock. And we will never say anything bad about him. But, I would imagine Funkmaster Flex’s words stung because Pete Rock did not respond to multiple SOCIAL MEDIA TAUNTS by Flex. In fact, he ignored numerous things that Flex posted DIRECTLY IN Pete Rock’s COMMENTS. And I found that interesting.
At any rate, last night the whole thing crescendoed with Flex giving us an apparent, ALLEGED reason why CL Smooth and Pete Rock no longer get along. This has dogged my brain for years. I never knew why. And maybe I still don’t know why, but it seems like there is some insight here. Funky Flex said that Pete Rock called the cops on his rap partner because CL smooth was allegedly selling group merchandise overseas.
“The police came to arrest C.L. [Smooth]. Due to a technicality, they could’n’t arrest him. He did this in the U.K. He did not care if he was put in a jail overseas where the rules are totally different from New York. He went to the precinct, filled out a report and cooperated. What type of guy is that? And you talk to me about the game and integrity? You have none. You have zero. Don’t you ever, you hear me, bozo? You say that you want to upkeep Hip-Hop and you are all for Hip-Hop and preserving the culture, but you didn’t write your own bars. You, my friend, are a buffoon.”
IS THIS SNITCHING THOUGH?
So, in this allegation, he called the cops of the United Kingdom to cease his partner in rhyme from selling merchandise. Pete has not responded to these allegations yet, but this sounds extremely insane! I don’t know what to think! I hope Pete Rock says something to settle our hearts.
On top of that, for you crunchy rap nerds, he also made the assertion that she was also suing DJ Eddie F, who worked with Heavy D and the Boyz. Pete Rock and Hev go way back and are cousins.
Lastly, and more crunchy, is the revelation, ALLEGEDLY, that Pete Rock did not write some of his own rhymes. Now this doesn’t bother me so much, because we know Pete Rock mainly as a DJ and Producer. But Flex said it was a big deal.
All of this is just crazy. So much fighting!
Right now I want to hear from Pete Rock. I know that he may be keeping his head down and low for the moment. But, he should say something. He should explain to us what happened. If he can, will be more than happy to support him. I guess if he doesn’t explain, will still be more than happy to support him. But I don’t like him hiding or laying so low when he was saying so much earlier. Anyway, a quick glimpse of his social media just seems that he’s re-tweeting those that support him. And that us as well! Salute Pete Rock. And Funkmaster Flex, well…he is the king of the “go off” at this point.
Still, we have seen Pete Rock in a lot of feuds. He recently had something to say about Diddy, Nas, Canibus and others. Hopefully, we can get back to the music and talk about that a bit more.
The rapper eventually bailed from his Mercedes Maybach and fled through neighborhood backyards before apprehending him.
The cops searched the luxury vehicle and found an FNX-45 .45 caliber pistol on the floorboard. NBA YoungBoy was charged with possession of a firearm in ammunition by a convicted felon.
After almost a year and a half, the high-profile trial for the rapper, born Kenntrell Gaulden, kicked off on Tuesday (July 12th).
During the two-day trial, prosecutors claimed the rapper proved he was guilty by fleeing from the traffic stop, jumping out of his car, and attempting to evade police.
The rapper’s lawyer, James Manasseh, claimed his superstar client panicked due to the show of force by the LAPD and the fact that he was unaware of the federal warrant for his arrest out of Baton Rouge.
Manasseh also claimed that NBA YoungBoy had no clue the gun was inside the Maybach.
On Wednesday, FBI forensic examiner Icel Kuznetsova admitted that no fingerprints were found on the gun, the grip, the magazine, or the shells found in the vehicle.
After five hours of deliberations, a jury sided with the rapper and found him not guilty of the charges.
NBA YoungBoy scored several significant victories, which undoubtedly led to his acquittal.
And, his defensive attorney successfully proved that there was no evidence tying him to the gun found in the vehicle, which had been used by other people, despite NBA YoungBoy’s name being on the lease.
The music world is mourning the passing of William “Poogie” Hart, the lead singer of the legendary R&B group, The Delfonics.
According to reports, the Grammy award-winning singer’s son, Hadi, confirmed the sad news, saying he transitioned on Thursday, July 14th.
He told the outlet that William Hart was having difficulty breathing and had to be taken to Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia.
The son said his dad transitioned at the age of 77 after having complications during the surgery.
A crucial part of The Sound of Philadelphia, a movement in music that changed the landscape of Black music in the 70s, the Delfonics were started in the late ’60s.
The lineup consisted of WilliamHart and his brother Wilbert, Randy Cain, Ritchie Daniels, and famed movie director Stan Lathan in Overbrook High School. Later, Philly legend Major Harris joined the group, and music production titan Thom Bell produced most of their hits.

Some of their hit songs included “La-La (Means I Love You),” “Didn’t I (Blow Your Mind This Time),” and “Ready or Not Here I Come (Can’t Hide from Love),” a song that was sampled and interpolated for the Fugees platinum-selling hit song, “Ready or Not” from The Score.
Bootsy Colling posted, “The Delfonics are an American R&B/Vocal group from Philly PA. Their hit songs were primarily written/composed and produced by lead vocalist and founding member William “Poogie” Hart, in the middle. He changed frequencies today. Prayer’s to his family & friends. Bootsy baby!!!”

Sheryl Lee Ralph also posted, “This has blown my mind with sadness. Their music was such a great part of my youth.”
Ghostface, who sampled “La-La (Means I Love You),” told an incredible story about a wild shootout involving the group, as they traveled to Staten Island to record with the rapper. Take a listen:
Rapper-turned-businessman Kanye West spent his mother’s birthday meeting with one of the men that changed his life, making him the wealthiest man in music.
On Tuesday, July 12th, the heavenly birthday of Ms. Donda West, the fashion designer and brand-ologist sat on a call with Robert Fisher, the Chairman of the Board of Directors for Gap Inc., Bob L. Martin, the Executive Chairman and Interim CEO at Gap, and others to discuss the company’s business.
So inspired by meeting the businessmen, Ye took to social media to express his gratitude – linking the serendipity of his mom’s born day with his first-time meeting Bob Martin.
Kanye captioned an Instagram post, dropping one of the most extraordinary jewels he heard on the call – “go to the stores.”
“On my moms birthday I was able for the first time to sit in on a Gap call with Bob Martin, Bob Fisher, and other leads of the company,” Kanye wrote. “Bob Martin was one of the most inspiring people I’ve heard speak in business. He kept saying go to the stores on the call.”
While reflecting on what they were able to do in such a short amount of time, Kanye continued, “I came to Gap to put good product directly in stores. We’ve had 2 of the biggest sales day in Gap history since I’ve been there.”
The top celebrity realtor and author “Douglas Parson Jr.” Real estate can be one of the most rewarding and difficult kinds of investment. There is no question in anyone’s mind that this particular investment contains a significant number of opportunities for achievement. Property investment can be beneficial in a variety of ways, including the generation of passive income through renting out one’s property and the accumulation of wealth through the rise in the value of one’s real estate holdings.
Douglas Parson Jr. has given some of the most compelling arguments in favor of investing in real estate, and we are going to share them with you in this article, so that we may direct you in the right direction. It is true that real estate investors face challenges, and Douglas Parson Jr. is no exception. In spite of the challenges he faced along the way, Douglas Parson Jr. has earned the reputation as “The Celebrity Realtor” via his unwavering commitment, and tireless effort. In his book “The Art of Flipping Bricks,” he answers the most important questions that people who are new to the game may have regarding how to identify, fix, and flip houses. He also shows step-by-step directions on how to do all three.
What role does location play, how big a property should be, and how much profit one should expect? In addition to that, he discusses problems that are associated with contractors, inspectors, and loans. If you are prepared to make an investment in yourself, then you are recommended to follow his advice. One of the best realtors in Atlanta Douglas Parson Jr. has more than 20 years of experience in the luxury real estate business. He has always motivated people to invest in real estate.
For example, a million-dollar mansion in Atlanta, Georgia, was recently sold to “King of Reality” TV Executive Carlos King by Douglas Parson Jr. There’s a pool, a balcony off the master bedroom, and a lot of areas to spread out and a good time. The drone view will show you that the mansion is right in the middle of a golf course. Douglas Parson Jr. has been Atlanta’s top realtor for almost two decades, specializing in luxury homes and selling millions of dollars worth of property.
He is a Certified Buyer Agent (CBA). In addition, he also has the Fair Housing ACT certification. Why should you invest in real estate? The value of the property you possess will never decrease. A new car’s depreciating value is one example of an investment that could leave you with little to nothing of value. Other examples include investments in the stock market, which can go down to zero in value. You may expect your money to go up in value in the real estate market regardless of whether you invested it in a residential or commercial property.
The value of a property rises when the area becomes more densely populated, infrastructure upgrades are made, critical neighborhood amenities are built, and new entertainment and recreation options develop. Due to a limited amount of land and increasing demand for it, a particular region’s real estate value is boosted greatly by the lack of room to build new residences. In these instances, according to Douglas Parson Jr., real estate investment is one of the best ways to make money.
The Game had everybody waiting in anticipation of his latest album Drillmatic. However, after months of lingering, we simply haven’t gotten it. He did a highly publicized performance at Novo where Wack100 may or may not have gotten in a fight. Kanye was there! That was the lob, but we didn’t get the….
Now, we gotta talk about the music.
We are big Game fans so we are looking for this album. It was delayed once, it was delayed again. Lloyd Banks just hit so I was hoping it would have come out today. It is possible they did not want to compete for ears. Jay-Z cleared like seven samples from the album, so we good there. What is the hold up?!
We love Kendrick, but he’s in a different zone right now. The hood (I would imagine) cannot go where he is right now – Paris, Africa, outer space. The Game is all we have! Come on Jayceon!
I take that back. We have more than The Game. Symba is someone I am keeping in tune with now and he’s down with The Game. He was pulled on stage and dropped a DOPE rhyme in honor of his homie. I was impressed at that and his own efforts. Hip-Hop is in a good place if you let it.

BigX’s first mixtape Back from the Dead and subsequent singles “Strange Fruit”, “Feeling Like Dennis”, “Mr. Trouble” and “Big Stepper” helped him gain significant attention in the online space. But more recently, a resurgence of the single “Safehouse” created a viral moment on SayCheese and has made him relevant across a wide range of social media pages and blogs.
“So boom I’ve done a full-length project before, it was called Back from the Dead and once I got out of jail I wanted to rap so I came out with that to show I was back or whatever. But this project is different,” BigXthaPlug said.
“Really to me it’s just about growth at this point, I’m ready for fans to hear the whole body of work and growth and that’s what I really want to show, that’s what I want everyone else to see. I’ve been telling people that I never planned this s###, but this is what I’m supposed to be doing. This project is something that people have been asking for and I want to make sure I give them what they want.”
Harkening back to some of the slowed-down, leaned-out Texas music Hip-Hop fans have come to love, BigXthaPlug never planned for this type of success, but now he’s well known in his city for a series of breakout hits.
Although BigX was just looking to break his own personal cycle of trouble with the law, what he found was something much greater than he could have imagined on the sidelines joking around and rapping with his teammates during his football days.
“I have been rapping for a few years seriously, but I didn’t plan on doing this or going viral. When I got out last time I got out with a clear head. But, I ain’t gonna lie, I didn’t do what I was planning to do or anything like that. I didn’t plan this or anything. I was a football player and I kept getting in trouble so I couldn’t play football anymore,” BigXthaPlug explained.
“After that, I had to find a way to bring money in because I had a baby. I had missed his birthday doing some stupid stuff so when I got out the last time I got out with a clear head. I knew what I was doing wasn’t right and I didn’t like not waking up to my son, so when I got out I had a partna who had been doing music since we were 9 years old. That was just something we did when we were playing football, and so that’s just what I did with him. If we weren’t running drills we were on the sidelines rapping.”
With his mind set on moving forward and with a newly redefined sound, new visuals and continued support from major videographer Half Pint Filmz,BigX’s buzz is skyrocketing with even better music and visuals on the way.
There has been speculation for years that there is a Cold War taking place between Drake and Kendrick Lamar. Fans comb through both Hip Hop superstars’ lyrics to try and discover lines that could be ammunition in a subtle war of words.
For example, many listeners believed Drake directed part of his verse on The Game’s 2015 single “100” at K. Dot. On the song, Drizzy raps, “I would have all of your fans if I didn’t go Pop and I stayed on some conscious s###.”
Kendrick Lamar has been labeled, particularly in the early stages of his music career, as a conscious emcee. In contrast, Drake regularly faced complaints from some Hip Hop purists of being too Pop for a rapper.
The Game recently spoke about “100” featuring Drake. During an interview with HipHopDX, the OVO leader spoke about Drake’s perceived subliminal shots at Kendrick Lamar on the “100” collaboration.
“I didn’t feel like that,” said The Game when asked about his fellow Los Angeles native potentially being the target of Drake’s lyrical bullets on The Documentary 2 track. “And if I did, I wouldn’t have put the song out.”
He continued, “Like I said, Kendrick’s my brother. I love him too. But if Drake was subliminal and slipped something in, again, he’s one of the best to ever do it, so it’s Hip Hop. Even Kendrick is lyrically equipped to catch any stray and return fire, so I think at the end of the day, it’s all good Hip Hop. It ain’t like Kendrick and Drake are about to go into a street war or something like that.”
The Game went on to say rap battles fuel competition and only one person can sit at the top of the Billboard charts. The West Coaster added, “Climbing the ladder, knocking people down, kicking people off, it’s just part of the competitive nature of music as a whole.”
