Trae Tha Truth Beats Defamation Lawsuit Filed By Child’s Mother

A defamation suit filed against Houston rapper Trae Tha Truth by his daughter’s mother has been dropped.

According to documents filed with the Superior Court of Van Nuys, lawyers for Heather Cuevas asked that the lawsuit be dismissed with prejudice. Court papers did not detail whether or not a settlement was reached or if Cuevas dismissed the lawsuit for another reason.

Trae’s attorney, Kenumi T. Maatafale, stated that his client denied “each and every allegation” in Cuevas’ suit.

Trae Tha Truth, whose real name is Frazier Othel Thompson III, was accused of causing emotional distress and civil harassment by Cuevas in her suit filed on February 17th of this year.

“This case arises from a long history of aggressive behavior, physical abuse, emotional abuse and harassment by the father of Ms. Cuevas’ daughter,” the suit reads.

“Thompson’s fans have since threatened Cuevas’ life,” the suit alleged. “While all of his other social media posts get very little engagement, Thompson’s attacks on Cuevas have drawn five to six times the number of responses.”

The allegations sound totally opposite of Trae, the founder of Angel by Nature, a charity aimed at helping the impoverished youth of Texas.

In February, the rapper dropped his mixtape “Truth Season: The United Streets of America, which he dedicated to his daughter.

“I need every parent that’s been through any type of situation to feel that. This is going to be a voice for them,” Trae Tha Truth told AllHipHop.com. “People need to hear. This is a conversation that needs to be had. It’s a hidden conversation when people go through it, but they don’t have the outlet to speak up. Again, I’m not using my outlet to bash nobody. If all fails and everything never went my way, my daughter’s going to know that my daddy fought all he could do for me.”

31 White Nationalists Arrested In Idaho At Pride Event

According to a report from NPR, 31 white nationalists were arrested near a gay pride event in Idaho after police discovered the group assembled in the back of a U-Haul truck, all donned in riot gear.

Male members of the Patriot Front, a white nationalist group founded during the 2017 Charlottesville Riots, were wearing white masks, beige caps, navy blue shirts, and khakis when they were arrested by police near the North Idaho Pride Alliance event.

All of the men were charged with conspiracy to riot, which is a misdemeanor. They are scheduled to be arraigned on Monday.

Police discovered riot gear, one smoke grenade, shin guards, and shields.

The U-Haul was reported by a passerby, who told police that the group looked like “a little army was loading up into the vehicle” when he saw them in the parking lot of a hotel.

The men in the group came from eleven states, including Washington, Oregon, Texas, Utah, Colorado, South Dakota, Virginia, Arkansas, Wyoming, and Illinois.

There was only one member of the group that was actually from Idaho.

The Southern Poverty Law Center describes the Patriot Front as a “white nationalist hate group” that calls for the formation of a white ethnic state within the United States.

“The American Identity was something uniquely forged in the struggle that our ancestors waged to survive in this new continent,” the group’s manifesto reads. “To be an American is to realize this identity and take up the national struggle upon one’s shoulders. Not simply by birth is one granted this title but by the degree to which he works and fulfills the potential of his birth.”

Doja Cat May Launch New Career As A Standup Comic

Doja Cat is keen to try her hand at stand-up comedy one day.

The “Say So” hitmaker has established herself as a rapper, singer, songwriter, and record producer.

But during an interview for the June/July 2022 issue of ELLE magazine, Doja Cat revealed that comedy is her “hidden passion.”

“My one hidden passion is stand-up,” she shared. “I get nervous just like anyone else, but it feels like it could be a natural, fun thing to do.”

Doja Cat, real name Amala Dlamini, went on to note that she is a big fan of Ziwe Fumudoh’s Showtime variety program.

“Ziwe is so f###### funny and she’s so smart, and I love her so much,” the star continued. “She usually likes to bait people into s###, and it just would be funny to see her bait me.”

Elsewhere in the conversation, Doja Cat also confirmed that she wants to give acting a whirl.

“I’d love to act. I’d love to be in movies. That’s a massive want for me,” she said.

Roddy Ricch Arrested On Gun Charges In New York, Governor’s Ball Set Cancelled

Compton rapper Roddy Ricch was arrested on gun charges after going through a security checkpoint for the Governors Ball Festival in NYC this weekend.

A simple tweet from the Governors Ball official Twitter account broke the news.

“Unfortunately Roddy Ricch is no longer performing today,” the official Twitter account for the Governors Ball revealed.

Authorities report that Roddy Ricch, whose real name is Rodrick Moore Jr., and two other people were arrested on four charges of criminal possession of a weapon, possession of a large capacity ammo feeding device, and unlawful possession of that device after the cops searched the vehicle he was riding in.

The fans were shocked not only because another artist wasn’t going to appear in the annual Queens-based festival, but they obviously wanted to know why the “Cooped Up” rapper was going to be a no-show.

Police say that as Roddy Ricch and his entourage made their way through a checkpoint for the festival shortly before his set, they discovered a loaded firearm with nine rounds of ammunition and an extended clip.

Roddy Ricch’s arrest is another headache for Governors Ball organizers, who had to deal with a cancellation from the Migos earlier this week.

The Atlanta rappers’ replacement, Lil Wayne, was tapped as a last-minute headliner, but he bailed as well, telling concert promoters that he wouldn’t make his Friday night set just hours before he was supposed to perform due to “flight disruption.”

No word yet on when Roddy Ricch will appear in court for the four weapons charges.

Artist, DJ, and Producer Will Sass Shares His Journey to Success

Will Sass is a pop artist who has built an impressive resume over the past years. The New York City native made his debut as a professional musician with club and festival appearances at many events over three years ago. Some of his achievements include opening for Bakermat at Noto in 2022, opening the Palm Tree Festival and playing the official after-party for Breakaway Festival in 2021, and opening for Gashi on his pre-Covid tour. Will has also played at some of the biggest college shows at various schools, like UT Austin and the University of Miami. And now, he’s gearing up to release his first original body of work, one he’s been crafting over the past few months.

In a recent interview, Will was asked how he’d risen so fast to the top of the dance and pop scenes. “Being an independent artist, I’ve had to learn and create the fundamentals to self-develop my artist project,” he shared. Will added that to perfect his craft, he’s had to learn the ins and outs of content creation, playing shows, and getting the most out of studio sessions. Despite his best efforts, he knows he can’t do all that independently, so he’s built a team of individuals who’re aligned with his creative vision.
The content of his songs also sets Will apart from other artists.

Lessons about life, heartbreak, and how to move on are some concepts that inspire him to write his songs. The result is music that taps into the soul in a relatable way and resonates with broad audiences. Over the past few months, Will’s talent has attracted lots of attention and led to offers for record deals, but he’s turned them down. His mission is to pave the way for other independent artists and help as many as possible find success.

Jack Harlow Says Criticism Good For His Growth After Massive Success

Jack Harlow is open to criticism about his music.

Following his breakthrough in 2020, the Louisville rapper has cemented his status as one to watch in the entertainment industry with his single “First Class” and Lil Nas X collaboration, “Industry Baby.”

But while Jack Harlow is excited that his music has been so well received around the world, he is also OK with recent feedback that’s been less flattering.

“I’ve been so validated by the world over the last year and just put on a pedestal and loved. To experience a taste of the opposite, I think it’s good for my growth,” the 24-year-old explained to Teen Vogue. “It teaches you not to put too much stock in either because the world is finicky. But I’m proud to say my confidence and my thoughts on my trajectory haven’t been shaken. A lot of it has been a big surprise to me after I caught wind of some of it. I’ve been able to do a good job of stepping away.”

Elsewhere in the discussion, Jack Harlow noted that he had seen a change in his sound since he broke onto the scene.

“Some of my earlier stuff, since I wasn’t in the position that I’m in (now), it was easier to be like, ‘Yeah, slide him his props.’ But once you’re up there, it’s a saltier feeling in your mouth. It’s seasonal, I’m telling you. It’s fashion,” Jack Harlow added.

L.A Rapper MoneyGangVontae Shot And Killed In The Bronx; Cops Seek 5 Suspects

According to a news report from NBC New York, an L.A.-based rapper was shot and killed in a pharmacy in the Bronx after posting pictures of himself on Instagram during his visit to New York.

The 27-year-old, born Avanti Frowner, became the victim of a fatal shooting after being tracked down to Amazing Pharmacy on Tremont Avenue in the Bronx.

He was viciously attacked by four men until one of them pulled out a firearm and shot Frowner three times, killing him.

One of the four assailants snatched MoneyGangVontae’s chain off of his neck before leaving him dying defenseless on the floor of the drugstore.

MoneyGangVontae was rushed to nearby St. Barnabas Hospital where he was pronounced dead. No motive has been established for the shooting and no arrests have been made.

Frowner has become the latest victim in a string of violent crimes in New York City linked to the drill rap culture.

Last month, Bronx drill rapper DThang Gz was arrested and charged in a 65-count indictment with 33 other alleged gang members.

The gang, known as the River Park Towers gang, named after their River Park Towers neighborhood in the Bronx, were all charged with conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder, attempted assault and other violent crimes.

Buzzing St. Louis Rappers Jizzle Buckz & Luh Half Indicted For Running Fentanyl Distribution Ring

St. Louis rappers Jizzle Buckz and Luh Half were among the 14 people indicted for allegedly running a drug ring in the city.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of Missouri indicted Davante “Jizzle Buckz” Lindsey, Andre “Luh Half” Pearson and five others on fentanyl-related charges in April.

Seven more defendants, including Edward “Edot” Hopkins, were named in a superseding indictment on Wednesday (June 8).

Prosecutors say Jizzle Buckz and Luh Half, who are both 25 years old, lead a criminal organization called the 55 Boyz. The Department of Justice accuses the group of drug trafficking and gun violence in the St. Louis area.

Jizzle Buckz, Luh Half and 12 others were charged with conspiring to distribute fentanyl. Certain defendants also face charges for fentanyl possession, fentanyl distribution, possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, conspiracy to tamper with a witness and more.

The DOJ released the full list of names in the indictment on Friday (June 10). The rest of the defendants include Tony Evans, 32; Araven Johnson, 27; Douglas Simpson, 33; Jeffrey Moore, 24; Shawn Liggins, 20; Omar Lewis, 21; Willie Lindsey, 42; Jamond “Huncho” Dismukes, 21; Travon Weatherspoon, 31; Birtha Lindsey, 41; and Erik Simmons, 28.

LeBron James Wants To Be NBA Boss With His Own Team In Las Vegas

LeBron James is planning to start his own NBA franchise in Las Vegas.

The basketball legend, who is contracted to the Los Angeles Lakers, has previously expressed an interest in owning an NBA team when he retires as a player.

With league bosses rumored to be considering taking new teams to Seattle and Sin City, LeBron James said he is eyeing the latter franchise.

“I want a team in Vegas,” the billionaire sportsman said in the latest episode of his HBO talk show, “Uninterrupted: The Shop,” “I want the team in Vegas.”

The 37-year-old has already dabbled in sports team ownership as he has stakes in Liverpool FC and the Boston Red Sox. During his time in L.A. he has also stepped up his involvement in showbusiness with his SpringHill development and production company.

If he plans to continue playing, possibly to join a team with his 17-year-old son Bronny, he’ll have to wait, however, as league rules would prevent him from owning a team while still a player.

Las Vegas is becoming an increasingly popular sporting hub, as it now has an NFL team in the shape of the Las Vegas (formerly Oakland) Raiders.

Notorious B.I.G.’s Original DJ 50 Grand Passes Away at 55

According to several reports, Kevin “50 Grand” Griffin, the original DJ and producer who gave the Notorious B. I. G.’s demo tape to DJ Mister Cee, has reportedly died.

He was 55 years old.

Griffin’s cause of death has not been confirmed or reported.

50 Grand was the visionary and catalyst of the “King of N.Y.’s” rap career when they first connected in 1991 in their native Bed-Stuy, Brooklyn neighborhood.

“I started working with Big in ’91,” said 50 Grand in an interview with Fader Magazine. “I was 21, he was 15. I met him through a friend of mine. They hustled together on Bedford and Quincy. People in the neighborhood knew him as the hottest rapper around.

“Everybody that stepped in his path, he ate ’em up. He earned that stripe from that one battle he had on Bedford and Quincy. I was the one that was playing the music,” 50 Grand continued. “This man used to live right upstairs from the pool room. Every day in the summer, we’d play the music out. It just so happened that Big came around, so we brought the grill out, we brought the music out. They got on the mic and went at it. It went on from there. Cars stopped. It got real crowded out there. We rocked it ’til 12, one o’clock that night. It was a good look. Everybody that came at his back, he took out.”

Griffin eventually got the tape to DJ Mister Cee, Big Daddy Kane’s DJ at the time.

With Biggie Smalls showing extraordinary promise rhyming over Kane’s “Ain’t No Half Steppin” instrumental, Cee passed the demo tape to Matteo “Matty C” Capoluongo of The Source Magazine for the Unsigned Hype feature column.

Not long after appearing in The Source, news of the super emcee from Brooklyn made its way to Sean Puffy Combs.

For having that level of foresight, even in the drug-ridden street of 90s Bed-Stuy, 50 Grand’s name will forever be written in stone in Hip-Hop history.

Nick Cannon Introduces Vasectomy Drink; Controversy Explodes Over New Babies

Nick Cannon has poked fun at himself by introducing a cocktail called The Vasectomy in a new commercial.

The TV host is set to become a father for the eighth time, having revealed in January that he is expecting a baby boy with model Bre Tiesi.

Another of his baby mamas, Abby De La Rosa, is also pregnant again, with sources confirming that Nick is the father, meaning his ninth child is on the way.

And while Nick’s large family has been the subject of a lot of interest online, in an advertisement for Ryan Reynolds’s Aviation American Gin, the star joked about how overwhelming it is to be a father to so many little ones.

“It’s almost Father’s Day, and the one and only Ryan Reynolds asked me to help us all celebrate with the mother of all cocktails: The Vasectomy,” Nick Cannon said, before sighing, “Lord knows I need one.”

Nick Cannon went on to demonstrate how he makes the drink, which consists of ice, cranberry juice, tonic water, gin, and a dash of lemon juice, all of which are topped off with a lemon peel garnish.

“The world’s highest-rated gin, for the world’s highest-rated job – dad,” the 41-year-old said sarcastically, adding in a very large pour of alcohol into the mix.

Towards the end of the lighthearted commercial, Ryan enters the scene and takes the drink, insisting he needs it because “I have three kids.” In response, Nick exclaims, “I have eight!”

Ryan then proceeds to spit out the super strong cocktail.

In addition to the baby Nick Cannon is expecting with Bre, he also shares twins Moroccan and Monroe with his ex-wife Mariah Carey, son Golden and daughter Powerful Queen with Brittany Bell, and twins Zion and Zillion with model/DJ Abby.

Sadly, his son Zen, whom he shared with Alyssa Scott, died at five months following a battle with cancer in December.

Not everyone thought Nick’s antics were funny. The comedian has been dragged on Twitter over the past week for being a baby-making machine.

BeyHive Stings Saucy Santana Over Resurfaced Tweets About Jay-Z and Beyoncé’s Daughter Blue Ivy

Black Twitter never forgets anything!

Connecticut LGBTQ rapper Saucy Santana learned real quick to watch what you say about Hip-Hop’s favorite couple or their offspring after fans and critics refused to let up on the crossdressing rapper for dissing Blue Ivy.

Back in 2014, Saucy Santana made some disparaging tweets about Blue Ivy, calling her “nappy headed” and even negatively compared the 10-year-old child celebrity to Kanye West and Kim Kardashian’s daughter North West.

He also directed his disrespect towards Bey, saying she looked “dry af” during her pregnancy and claimed to be prettier than Queen Bey.

Now, Saucy Santana and a few of his supporters contend that those tweets were from his years of immaturity and he has grown since then, but that excuse is falling on deaf ears.

It doesn’t matter because Saucy Santana refuses to apologize for his nearly decade-old tweets and the Beyhive isn’t letting up.

This internet spectacle started on the same day (June 10th) as the release of Saucey’s breakout single “Booty” featuring L:atto, but it looks like his tweets about the Carter women will get him more attention than his music.

YNW Melly Legal Troubles Mount As Detective Says Rapper Was Shooter In Double-Murder Case

New developments have been revealed in the YNW Melly double homicide case, as the detective who believes that the rapper was the gunman will be testifying in the Florida rapper’s upcoming trial.

Detective Christopher Williams says that he is not sure, but with his expertise in reconstructing shootings, YNW Melly, whose real name is Jamell Demons, was the shooter instead of his co-defendant Cortlen Henry aka YNW Bortlen.

YNW Melly is facing two counts of first-degree murder. He’s accused of killing his friends Anthony Williams a.k.a. YNW Sakchaser, and Christopher Thomas Jr., a.k.a. YNW Juvy, in 2018.

When the rapper was initially arrested for the killings, police determined that Melly was the gunman who fired the fatal shots from behind the driver’s seat. He allegedly staged the crime with Henry to make the murder look like a drive-by shooting.

According to documents obtained by TMZ, Williams looked at the blood splatter, the wounds of the victims, and the bullet holes in the car to determine the shooter was seated behind the driver.

Williams added that the shots were fired no more than eight inches from the victim’s face.

YNW Melly’s attorneys attempted to exclude Detective Williams’ testimony from the trial, but their motion was denied. The judge concluded that Williams’ testimony doesn’t have to be 100% conclusive.

Prosecutors claim YNW Melly and YNW Bortlen committed murder in a “cold, calculated and premeditated manner.”

Melly faces the death penalty if convicted of the double murder.

AllHipHop broke the news last month – YNW Melly is pressuring prosecutors to get his trial underway after several delays – the most recent being in March.

Jesse Williams Admits His Leaked Ding Dong Pic Made Ticket Sales Rise

Jesse Williams has admitted that leaked nude footage of him from the Broadway play “Take Me Out” has increased ticket sales.

Last month, the “Grey’s Anatomy” actor trended online after an unauthorized video of him appearing naked in a scene was taken by an audience member and later released on social media.

While Jesse Williams noted he “wasn’t really worried” about the video at the time, in a new interview for The Hollywood Reporter, he confessed there had been an uptick in interest in the show – which follows a gay baseball player coming out to his teammates and the press.

“It’s not me on stage, it’s the character, and I’m looking at my scene partner, and we’re in a different world; there’s no penetration – that’s a really poor choice of words here,” Jesse Williams laughed. “So it’s unfortunate, but whatever. It has not affected the performance. But it certainly improved ticket sales.”

Theatergoers must put their devices in special cases for “Take Me Out,: which can only be unlocked in the lobby.

Accordingly, Jesse Williams explained that he is “still processing” the incident.

“Sometimes you need some remove from some of this stuff. There were things that came out that and if you can be lighthearted about it, you can laugh it off,” the 40-year-old continued. “But then also you think about what actually happened, and what it took (from the perpetrator): You walked in and agreed to put your phones away, and you agreed that you would not film what we were doing – it’s a private, sacred space where we’re doing something – and you violated that, and you didn’t just violate it, you violated it and then said, “F### it, let me put it on the Internet for the world” – so that’s not good.”

Jesse has landed a Tony Award nomination for his performance in the play.

Young Thug Fans Force Fulton County D.A. Fani Willis To Increase Security After Death Threats

The YSL RICO case and the charges faced by Young Thug, Gunna, and their 26 associates has been the most talked-about criminal investigation in the Hip-Hop community in the past two decades.

Now, the Fulton County D.A., who has been prosecuting the case, has been allegedly receiving death threats from those against indicting the Atlanta rap stars.

Fulton Co. District Attorney Fani Willis has become a target of some vicious and potentially dangerous threats from Young Slime Life fans but contends that the attempted intimidation isn’t coming from the directive of anyone named in the RICO indictment.

“We don’t believe that these threats were directed by anyone that is in the YSL indictment,” Fani Willis said. “I would say that (threats are coming from) people that are very sympathetic, may be admirers of YSL and people who are connected with them in some sense.”

Because of her work on gangs in Fulton County and her investigation into the presidential election, Fani Willis will be increasing her security detail exponentially.

“Oh, it is definitely a significant driver of the heightened security,” Willis said. “People are angry about that investigation. People are angry about investigations into games, so each of those things plays a factor.”

Last week, the Fulton County Sheriff added extra protection to protect himself and his family after receiving a flurry of death threats from associates and fanatics of Young Thug, Gunna, and YSL.

Sheriff Patrick Labat declared that his life and his wife’s life were being targeted after Young Thug, Gunna, and their YSL affiliates were arrested in May and charged with 56 counts of racketeering.

“I signed up for this. My family certainly did not. We will not allow anybody to partake in cyberbullying and/or make threats, and there are continuing investigations that will reveal other threats,” Sheriff Labat told 11 Alive. “We think it’s getting related and at least fanbase related.”

At the end of May, a teenager named Quantavius Mender was arrested and charged with 23 counts of making terrorist threats after he took to social media and said he would kill Sheriff Labat and his wife if Young Thug and other YSL members were not released from custody.

Not only did his threats result in charges, but they were pointless.

Judge Ural Glanville denied bond to Young Thug, believing he is a potential flight risk and a danger to the community after it was revealed that potential witnesses were being threatened.

J. Cole Steps Away From Canadian Basketball Team After 4 Games To Go On Tour

J. Cole’s time in the Canadian Elite Basketball League came to an end after four games.

The Dreamville founder left the Scarborough Shooting Stars because he’s booked to perform at multiple festivals. J. Cole begins his string of tour dates at the Governors Ball in New York on Sunday (June 12).

J. Cole praised the Scarborough Shooting Stars in an interview discussing his exit. The Hip Hop star called his brief stint playing professional hoops a “phenomenal” experience.

“I was telling the guys in there like, ‘I’m going for these shows, I’m not sure if I’ll be back,’” he said. “But just in case, I had to let them know how incredible this was. The players, the coaching staff, the organization, the league. It’s a crazy thing when you see it on paper, what’s actually happening. And they made me feel so welcome, really feeling like a part of a team.”

J. Cole continued, “Everybody embraced me. Everybody helped settle nerves and talked me through and teach me, and I’m just on a team with a bunch of amazing guys. So, I appreciate them for that. Coaching staff, players and then the league. It’s priceless what they’re allowing me to come in here and do and experience, so I really appreciate that.”
