‘Untrapped: The Story Of Lil Baby’ Documentary To Stream On Prime Video

Untrapped: The Story of Lil Baby premiered at the 2022 Tribeca Festival. The full-length documentary about the southern rap star will be available for streaming on Amazon’s Prime Video.

“Lil Baby is an incredibly impactful artist whose story of perseverance and achieving against all odds is something we are honored and excited to share with our global Prime Video audience,” said Alaina Bartels, head of talent synergy and specials at Amazon Studios.

The Karam Gill-directed Untrapped tells the story of Dominique “Lil Baby” Jones’s meteoric rise in the Hip Hop industry. Additionally, the film explores the systemic oppression many people of color face in America.

“I’m blessed to be able to tell my story and have people care to hear it,” said Lil Baby. “This film is a real look into my journey, and if it inspires even one person to believe that they can get through hard stuff and dare to follow a dream, then it was worth every penny spent and hour worked. My story is many people’s story and I’m excited to share it.”

Lil Baby also serves as a producer of Untrapped. Quality Control Music co-founders Pierre “P” Thomas and Kevin “Coach K” Lee as well as Karam Gill, Daniel Malikyar, Andrew Primavera, and Blase Biello received producer credit too.

“With this documentary, we got to highlight the obstacles and all the deep work that had to happen to get to where Lil Baby is now,” said Pierre “P” Thomas. “This raw footage is a powerful way to see that and to see the negatives that were turned to positives. People will be beyond inspired.”

“Baby, like so many in this country, went through so many obstacles that could have thrown him into many bad places in life. To watch him come through to such a positive side is essential for people to see,” said Kevin “Coach K” Lee. “This documentary has the ability to change lives if viewers can believe just like he did.”

Tisha Campbell has opened up about her relationship with Martin Lawrence ahead of the highly anticipated reunion of their iconic 90s sitcom Martin more than two decades after the 1997 series finale.

The actress addressed tension with her former co-star during an appearance on CBS Mornings. Host Gayle King spoke for many fans of the show when she asked Tisha Campbell how they overcame their previous legal issues.

“We worked really hard to reconnect, to forgive, and to really, this reunion is about a celebration of everything that we did, everything that we accomplished, and our growth as human beings,” Tisha Campbell explained. “So, we concentrated mostly on that.”

“Yeah, because none of that was true. It was all a lot of b####### and, just whoever’s side it was, it was b#######.” He continued, “We don’t need to talk about something that just didn’t happen. So I just decided to walk away from the show. I just decided to end it. People said that I got canceled, but that wasn’t the case. I decided to just leave the show.”

Nonetheless, the pair maintained a friendly relationship throughout the years.

“I love Tisha. I’ve seen her then and now, now and then, always with nothing but love,” Lawrence explained. “I have nothing but love for her, and I always have.”

“The Hi-Level Mindset wasn’t something that she directly taught me or purposefully instilled in me, but something I learned simply by observation,” Cordae explained. “The Hi-Level Mindset is a philosophy, it’s a wavelength to apply to your everyday thoughts and regiment.”

Cordae Explains His 5 Golden Rules

He also laid out the five essential steps of “The Hi Level Mindset,” and how he applied them throughout his life.

Nocturnal Strives To Impress With Upcoming Project ‘She Needs Me’

With his next record, She Needs MeNocturnal, a New Haven, Connecticut-based musician, wants to take the music world by storm. His sensitive lyrics, greatly influenced by rap’s conscious East Coast style, are packed with agony and vulnerability. Nocturnal’s journey began when a close friend encouraged him to pursue music, and he now produces a real environment that quickly draws listeners into his universe.

“One of my closest friends died in a drunk driving accident. He was the one who constantly encouraged me to pursue a career in music. Following his death, I resolved to pursue music professionally and dedicate my career to him.”

Following his previous releases Holdin Onto Hope and Therapy Through an LP, She Needs Me will be Nocturnal’s third project. As Nocturnal wraps off his latest project, he explains how She Needs Me is a double entendre, with the term “She” having two separate meanings.

“The initial reading is that “She” (hip-hop) requires my assistance in saving the game from extinction. I talk about the struggles of breaking into the profession and the sacrifices I make throughout the endeavor.” Nocturnal was still going strong. “The second interpretation of “She” is inspired by a horrible breakup and relates to my ex-girlfriend. This endeavor is an open book and a tale of how I overcame my issues in the sake of hip hop.”

She Needs Me, according to Nocturnal, is a project that will stand out from the crowd. “On this project, I’m being my most vulnerable self for the fans who are going through the same anguish as me but don’t have a platform to express it.”

Nocturnal provides an updated backpack, boom-bap sound with a blend of the soul into every song he releases, using music as a means of healing. Transparency and being influenced by musicians like Tupac Shakur, Eminem, Jay-Z, J.Cole, and Kanye West will ensure that his music has a long shelf life as it resonates with audiences.

Nocturnal, who is now living in Los Angeles, is preparing for the release of his first album, She Needs Me, as well as his upcoming EP with rapper The Game, which is set to drop later this year. To stay up to know with new projects, follow Nocturnal on IG!

Lizzo Changes Lyrics To “GRRRLS” Removing “Harmful” Ableist Slur After Criticism

Lizzo is listening to her fans and has changed a lyric in her new song, saying she never wanted “to promote derogatory language,” after days of being blasted by fans online.

The criticism began on Friday (Jun. 10) following the release of GRRRLS, the latest track from the singer’s upcoming album Special. Lizzo was called out by fans disappointed at her use of ableist language. In the opening verse, she used a derogatory term for cerebral palsy, also known as spastic diplegia.

Fans and disability advocates flooded social media with messages and TikToks explaining the history of the term. Lizzo caught wind of the backlash and listened to the concerns. She released a written public apology on Monday and announced she is making a change.

Lizzo Responds

“It has been brought to my attention that there is a harmful word in my new song GRRRLS. Let me make one thing clear: I never want to promote derogatory language,” she wrote. “As a fat black woman in America, I have had many hurtful words used against me so I understand the power words can have (whether intentionally, or in my case, unintentionally).”

Furthermore, Lizzo said she was proud to release an updated version with the offensive term removed.

“This is the result of me listening and taking action,” Lizzo confirmed. “As an influential artist I’m dedicated to being part of the change I’ve been waiting to see in the world.”

The previous version of the song has now been replaced on streaming services and digital stores.

Lizzo is well known for her lyrics championing body positivity and self-love, and uses her platform and voice for those who feel powerless.  The “Truth Hurts” artist was a keynote speaker at this year’s SXSW Festival in Austin, TX. She spoke up for people’s right to govern their bodies and discussed empowerment and self-definition. She also challenged politicians like Gov. Greg Abbot and their far-out views on CPS and transgender children.

Kanye continued, “Bravery is not not being afraid. Bravery is overcoming your fear for your truth. This Ye with the blue paint on my face. These shoes represent the disrespect that people in power have to the talent. This shoe is a fake Yeezy made by adidas themselves. I’m not talking to DC about this either Kasper come talk to me. Jay-Z & Dame Dash Reach Settlement In ‘Reasonable Doubt’ NFT Lawsuit

Jay-Z and Dame Dash settled a lawsuit over Hov’s classic debut Reasonable Doubt.

According to court documents obtained by AllHipHop, the two agreed no individual shareholder of Roc-A-Fella Records can mint a non-fungible token of the album. TMZ first reported on the settlement.

Jay-Z and Roc-A-Fella sued Dame Dash in 2021, accusing him of trying to sell a Reasonable Doubt NFT. The settlement clarified Dame Dash’s rights as a co-founder of the label.

“Unless duly authorized by RAF, Inc., no shareholder or member of RAF, Inc. may alter in any way, sell, assign, pledge, encumber, contract with regard to, or in any way dispose of any property interest in Reasonable Doubt, including its copyright and including through any means such as auctioning a non-fungible token reflecting, referring, or directing to such interest,” the joint stipulation read. “Provided, however, that nothing in this Judgment shall prevent any shareholder or member of RAF, Inc. from selling, assigning, pledging, encumbering, contracting with regard to, or in any way disposing of their one-third (1/3rd) ownership interest in RAF, Inc.”

Jay-Z and Roc-A-Fella dismissed all of its claims against Dame Dash without prejudice in the settlement. Both sides agreed to cover their own costs, such as attorneys’ fees.

Earlier this year, Jay-Z’s lawyer Alex Spiro informed the court about settlement discussions. Dame Dash denied any such talks in an Instagram post.

“Please don’t believe this hype we are no where near a settlement,” he wrote in March. “they accused me of doing something i did not do and now they have to prove it…and i can sell my share anytime I want #askthejudge and #jayz and @biggsburke if you wanna settle this holla at me…we use to hustle together…court is corny…let’s talk like men for the culture… I dare y’all to respond.”

The case appeared to reach an impasse in May. But a month later, Jay-Z and his old business partner put an end to their legal dispute.

Though originally sentenced to six years, the boxer was released on parole after just under three.

Viola Davis Says Social Media Is Destroying The Art Of Making Movies

Viola Davis took aim at social media during a talk she gave with her husband Julius Tennon during the Produced By Conference at the weekend.

The “Fences” actress, who runs JuVee Productions with Julius, attended the 13th annual conference put on by the Producers Guild of America, speaking about what producers should consider before green-lighting projects.

Referencing the biggest influences in film and TV today, Viola Davis said: “Social media has taken over the defining of this art form.”

ET Canada reports that one of the ways in which social media has defined new Hollywood projects, she said, is an increased emphasis on escapism.

“I think that the word ‘escapism’ is something that is interesting – the goal all of us have is to sit in a movie with the popcorn and Sour Patch Kids and forget about our lives – but, literally, it destroys our art form,” Viola Davis expressed.

Explaining that not all escapist elements are evil, the actress continued: “Every time you’re in a room selling a narrative, it’s about how much you can create a story that allows us to escape.

“The characters then become a Mr. Potato Head, become Bobble Heads. We forget who these people are really until a movie comes along and blows our mind.”

During the event, she also gave advice to aspiring producers.

“I would be bolder,” she said. “I have to say, especially as a Black person, there’s so many things that are taboo… You don’t know until you try.”
