Eminem Breaks Spotify Record For Most Albums With 1 Billion Streams

Eminem added another record to his long list of accomplishments.

According to Chart Data, Slim Shady broke the record for most albums with over 1 billion streams on Spotify. The new benchmark has been set at 11 albums.

Eminem accomplished the feat after his major label debut The Slim Shady LP surpassed 1 billion streams on Spotify. His longtime manager Paul Rosenberg reacted to the news on Wednesday (December 29).

“Congrats @Eminem!” the former CEO of Def Jam Recordings wrote via Twitter.

Eminem’s albums with over 1 billion streams include 1999’s The Slim Shady LP, 2000’s The Marshall Mathers LP, 2002’s The Eminem Show, 2004’s Encore, 2009’s Relapse, 2010’s Recovery, 2013’s The Marshall Mathers LP 2, 2017’s Revival, 2018’s Kamikaze and 2020’s Music To Be Murdered By.

The Shady Records founder’s greatest hits compilation Curtain Call also amassed more than a billion streams on Spotify. His first album, 1996’s Infinite, is not available on the streaming service.

Although Eminem didn’t drop any new project in 2021, fans did get to hear him collaborate with Dr. Dre once again. Their song “Gospel” was featured in Grand Theft Auto Online’s expansion “The Contract” and made available to stream on DSPs.

Jack Harlow Disgusted By Cop Who Assaulted Black Woman At His Concert

Jack Harlow is calling for justice over an incident captured on video, where a woman who wanted to attend his concert was met with police-involved violence.

In fact, the cop in question put his hands around her neck and appeared to choke her. The artists said the act was “sickening.”

According to footage posted on his Instagram, the woman wanted to attend the Tuesday night show in Atlanta where the violent altercation happened outside the venue.

He posted, “When I watched it I was disgusted by that cop and all I wanted to do was make something good happen for this girl immediately.”

“I told the world to help me identify her so I could find a way to give her a hug and give her as many tickets to as many shows as she wants.”

The Kentucky native noted that tickets are a band-aid to the real problem.

“But that’s not enough and its not a solution to a systemic issue that people who don’t look like me have to face,” he said. “The next step is identifying this police officer and getting him unemployed as fast as we can. Assaulting a young woman and putting his hands on her neck is sickening.”

The video shows two white officers arguing with a Black woman outraged about something.

While she is snapping, the policeman closest to her pushes her back by cupping his large hand around her neck and then puts his fingers in her face to warn her.

His act did not stop the back and forth.

“I look out in the crowd every night and see black women in my front row… screaming my lyrics, traveling to see me, supporting me, riding for me,” Jack Harlow said. “I want this woman, and every black woman that supports me to know – I am so sorry. I want you to be protected and I want this guy to lose his job so f###### fast. I love you. Let’s find this officer.”

No word on who the cop is as of publishing.

Taylor Swift Denies Stealing “Shake It Off” From 3LW

Taylor Swift has filed a motion to dismiss a lawsuit in which she is accused of stealing lyrics for her hit song “Shake It Off.”

The singer was sued by songwriters Sean Hall and Nathan Butler in 2017, with them accusing Swift of copying their 2001 song “Playas Gon’ Play” by 3LW featuring Adrienne Bailon, Kiely Williams, and Naturi Naughton.

They alleged Taylor Swift stole the lyrics from their 3LW song, which features the line, “Playas, they gon’ play and haters, they gonna hate”, with the chorus of “Shake It Off.”

The song is taken from 3LW’s debut album 3LW which featured production by rap legends Full Force The Trackmasters, in addition to a guest appearance from Nas.

Earlier this month, U.S. District Judge Michael W. Fitzgerald refused Swift’s request to throw out the case. He decided that he could not dismiss the case himself and ordered the issue to be resolved in a jury trial.

According to Billboard, Swift’s attorney Peter Anderson filed a motion on December 23rd to dismiss the legal action once again, calling the decision “unprecedented.”

“Plaintiffs could sue everyone who writes, sings, or publicly says ‘players gonna play’ and ‘haters gonna hate,'” Anderson wrote in the motion. “To permit that is unprecedented and cheats the public domain.”

The copyright infringement case was originally dismissed by Judge Fitzgerald in 2018, as he believed the lyrics were “short phrases that lack the modicum of originality and creativity required for copyright protection.”

However, a federal appeals court overturned the ruling the following year, deciding that “playas gon’ play” was creative enough for copyright protection.

Jada Pinkett Smith has opened up about embracing her hair loss after being diagnosed with alopecia.

In a video posted to Instagram, the 50-year-old actress addressed living with the autoimmune disorder, which attacks hair follicles and causes baldness.

“Mama’s gonna have to take it down to the scalp so nobody thinks she got brain surgery or something,” Jada captioned the video. “Me and this alopecia are going to be friends … period!”

Smith showed off a new bald strip that has appeared on the top of her head and admitted it was going to be harder to cover up than other patches of hair loss.

“Now at this point, I can only laugh. Y’all know I’ve been struggling with alopecia and just all of a sudden one day, look at this line right here. Look at that,” she said, pointing at a small bald line. “So it just showed up like that and this is going to be a little bit more difficult for me to hide… So I thought I’d just share it so y’all are not asking any questions.”

She ended by joking that she was going to fill the line in with rhinestones and make herself “a little crown.”

The actress was first diagnosed with the condition in 2018. At the time, she spoke about how her diagnosis was emotionally challenging but she learned to embrace it.

“Even in my fear… I really had to put it into a spiritual perspective, like the higher power takes so much from people,” she said at the time. “People are out here with cancer. People have sick children. I watch the higher power take things every day. When I looked at it from the perspective it really did settle me.”

Madonna has claimed she is “tired of being taken advantage of” shortly after accusing Tory Lanez of illegally sampling one of her songs.

Earlier this week, the singer left a comment on an Instagram post by the “Feels” hitmaker in which she claimed he had sampled her song “Into the Groove” without her permission.

In a new statement released via Rolling Stone, the 63-year-old Grammy winner appeared to be ready to take the issue to the next step.

“I am tired of being taken advantage of, and I mean business,” she told the publication via her representative without elaborating further.

Madonna called out Tory Lanez earlier this week on Instagram by writing in the public comments, “Read your messages for illegal usage of my song get into the groove!” She implied that she had attempted to reach him privately.

The singer appears to be referencing Tory’s song “Pluto’s Last Comet,” off of his ’80s inspired album Alone At Prom, which was released on 10 December.

“Into the Groove” was originally released in 1985 for the film “Desperately Seeking Susan,” which Madonna starred in, and was later included on the re-release of her 1984 album Like A Virgin.

The rapper, who currently faces assault and gun charges for allegedly shooting “WAP” hitmaker Megan Thee Stallion in the foot last year, has not publicly responded to the singer’s accusation.

Kenneth Petty Gets Extra Month Before Sentencing For Failing To Register As A Sex Offender

Rapper Nicki Minaj’s husband has gotten a break in his federal case regarding his failure to register as a sex offender.

A judge agreed to a motion to push his sentencing back to the beginning of the spring.

His team has negotiated a deal with the prosecutors to allow him to spend Valentine’s Day with his family.

According to Radar Online, a judge gave a “yes” to Kenneth Petty’s sentencing date, pushing it back from January 24th to March 30th, 2021.

Court documents reveal that Kenneth Petty has entered a not guilty plea regarding the case. Despite this, the prosecution said it would ask the court to consider a lighter sentence.

Kenneth Petty’s guilty plea for not registering as a sex offender in California when he first moved into his Beverly Hills home could land him a mandatory minimum of 5 years of supervised release.

He may not have to serve any time behind bars. His team is pushing for that by submitting “an expert report” to the judge before his sentencing in March.

The additional two months allow the expert more time to complete his formal findings.

Mr. Petty’s problems stem from his 1995 conviction for a first-degree attempted rape case. He was 16, and his accuser, Jennifer Hough, who said she had been violated, was 16.

Petty spent four years in prison.

He and his superstar wife are currently in the middle of a civil lawsuit filed by Hough.

Kanye West To Tear Down House Across The Street From Kim Kardashian

Kanye West reportedly intends to tear down a house he just bought.

According to People magazine, Kanye West plans to demolish his newly purchased home across the street from his estranged wife Kim Kardashian. The five-bedroom, four-bathroom house is located in Hidden Hills, California.

“Kanye’s new house is a teardown,” a source told People. “He only bought it for the location. It’s near Kim and the kids. He has a vision for the house and plans on starting construction ASAP.”

Ye spent $4.5 million to acquire the property. Kanye West paid $421,000 over the asking price to be near his children.

“It will be family-friendly,” the source said. “He wants to be able to have the kids over as much as possible. Living only in Malibu was making visits more tricky for Kanye.”

Earlier this month, Kanye West claimed he was going to convert all of his homes into churches. He had a vision of becoming “homeless” in a year.

“I’m going to turn all the homes I own into churches,” he told the German magazine 032c. “We’re making this orphanage, and it will be a place where anyone can go.”

The Kanye West version of being “homeless” includes housing, so his children won’t be struggling when they’re with their father.

Quavo Faces A Lawsuit Over Alleged Attack On Limo Driver

It appears Quavo’s 2021 is coming to an end with a legal fight on the horizon. A Las Vegas-area limousine driver is apparently suing the rap star born Quavious Keyate Marshall, Migos Touring, and the Virgin Hotel.

The professional motorist blamed Quavo for being involved in an assault that allegedly took place on July 3. In the lawsuit, the defendant accused at least five passengers of repeatedly punching and kicking him unprovoked.

The driver claims he was hired to take the Migos and their group from a local club to the Virgin Hotel… but he says things went south when the passengers started yelling at him about leaving behind a member of their party… In the docs, the limo driver tried reasoning with his passengers but was told, “shut the f*** up”… and then someone chucked a bottle at him.

While Quavo will likely have to lawyer up to deal with these accusations, the Atlanta-raised rhymer is also headed into 2022 off the back of Migos dropping their long-delayed Culture III album. He also appeared on songs this year with Bobby Shmurda and the late Pop Smoke.

Cardi B Accuses Twitter Troll Of Grooming Teenagers For Sex

It was an extremely eventful Thursday morning for Hip Hop superstar Belcalis “Cardi B” Almánzar. Starting around 4 am ET, Cardi B got into a heated back-and-forth with a social media user she accused of repeatedly harassing her online.

Apparently, Cardi B is planning to seek formal action against the person running the @trey_forde Twitter account. This morning’s digital argument started because the “Up” hitmaker claimed she accidentally liked @trey_forde’s pro-Ariana Grande tweet that dissed Taylor Swift.

“I was gathering harassment tweets to report to the Twitter team tomorrow, sorry guys it was a lil finger slip,” wrote Cardi B about her supposedly pushing the heart icon by accident.

Cardi B added, “I already gathered about 52 tweets [with] my name, including almost [every day] he quotes my tweets, that fake IG he made of my dad using my father FB pictures, and also the pic he posted of his small 🍤 on Twitter while having minors follow him. Early morning call [with Twitter].”

The Invasion of Privacy album creator did not stop there. Cardi also tweeted, “Talkin about ‘really need one of y’all here in this bed wit me.’ 🤢INCEL! A nerd in real life so [he has] to get on Twitter to lure stan accounts that are mostly teens to sleep [with] him [with] that pre-cooked bag shrimp.”

After another Twitter user backed up Cardi B’s accusation that @trey_forde attempted to sexually groom teenagers, Cardi tweeted, “Exactly! It’s [disgusting]. This [is] why parents need to monitor their kids. You will think that Stan Twitter accounts [are] innocent fun, people arguing, and loving their favs but some [are] out here using it as a disguise for their perverted use.”

Later Cardi B repeated her statement about reporting the @trey_forde account. Around 6:25 am, she tweeted, “Oooo honey, I’ll be deleting this in about 2 minutes before people wake up and I will be on the call in the afternoon. I just wanted people [to] see the pervert they be hyping on this app.”

Twenty-five minutes later, Cardi B returned to Twitter to add, “Wow, I’m getting some really disturbing [direct messages] this man be sending to boys on this app… Until I can verify that [they’re] real I won’t post, but WOW. I ain’t thought it was gonna get this crazy… Y’all [need to] be careful of these weirdos on the internet.”

In response, @trey_forde claimed his second 18+ account (@honest_priv) that features sexually explicit content is set to private. As of press time, the @trey_forde is no longer active. It was seemingly changed to @honest_papi.

Lil Xan Accuses Former Manager Stat Quo Of Nearly Killing Him With Drugs

25-year-old rapper Lil Xan had been laying low from the public eye in recent months. The California native, also known as Diego, did make an appearance on 60 Minutes in August to talk about his drug addiction.

A video of Lil Xan once again discussing his struggles with narcotics is making the rounds on social media. This time, the “Betrayed” performer is calling out a former member of his inner circle for allegedly being an enabler.

“Do you guys remember the whole Lil Peep story where his management was giving him drugs and it just wasn’t helping out and all that?” asked Lil Xan. “Well, that happened to me on tour. My manager’s name is – well I don’t even like to call him my manager anymore – Stat Quo. Remember that name, Stat Quo.”

Xan continued, “Because when I was on tour through 2018 to two thousand whatever, the world tours with Nicki [Minaj] and Juice [WRLD] and all that, I was a drug addict back then. And my manager was supplying me with the drugs.”

According to Lil Xan, Stanley “Stat Quo” Benton was responsible for securing drugs no matter where they were located in the world. The Total Xanarchy album creator also insisted he was near death while on tour.

“He’s gonna act like he didn’t do that, like a f###### hypocrite, and I’m really feeling like I should take him to court. Because that was a time I almost died from the drugs,” stated Lil Xan about Stat Quo. “I was so skinny, unhealthy.”

Lil Xan also accused Stat Quo of demanding $30,000 to pay off the remaining cost of a vehicle that Diego no longer has in his possession. As Xan was speaking into the camera, an unknown person could also be heard feeding him lines to say.

“[Stat Quo] is a terrible f###### human being,” said Lil Xan. “The industry just sucks. That’s a big reason why I haven’t dropped another album. After I got sober, it put such a bad taste in my mouth to even want to make music.”

Lil Xan released Total Xanarchy in April 2018. That project peaked at #10 on the Billboard 200 chart. The “Betrayed” single made it to #64 on the Hot 100 chart and earned Platinum certification by the RIAA.

Prior to Total Xanarchy‘s arrival, Lil Xan found himself at the center of a media firestorm when he called 2Pac’s music boring. Multiple modern-day rappers slammed Diego’s opinion about the late music legend with Waka Flocka Flame even “banning” Xan from Hip Hop.

Nicki Minaj & Offset Comment On The Death Of Business Manager Angie Kukawski

According to reports, a woman found Los Angeles-based business manager Angela “Angie” Kukawski dead in the trunk of a car parked in Simi Valley, California. Kukawski was 55 years old.

Police are said to be investigating the death as a homicide. Authorities arrested 49-year-old Jason Barker. His bail was raised to $3.07 million.

Angie Kukawski was connected to the Boulevard Management financial services firm. At one point, her client roster included Kanye West, Kim Kardashian West, Nicki Minaj, Offset of the Migos, and the Tupac Shakur Estate.

“Hardest working, most reliable, sweetest person you could ever know. You didn’t deserve this, Angela. My heart is breaking for your children. Rest In Peace 🙏,” wrote Nicki Minaj on her Instagram Story.

Offset posted on his own Instagram Story, “R.I.P. Angie. Such a sweetheart. You helped me so much. Talked to you every week. I’m in [disbelief]. Smh. Prayer to your family.”

Investigators believe Jason Barker murdered Angie Kukawski inside their home in Sherman Oaks before driving her body to a relative’s residence in Simi Valley. Kukawski is survived by five children.

Michael Blackson Defends Only Making $800/Day For ‘Next Friday’ Movie

There has been a lot of conversation over the last few days about Ice Cube’s classic motion picture Friday. Some social media users accused Cube of “robbing” actors like Faizon Love because Love only made a reported $2,500 for his role as Big Worm in the stoner comedy.

Faizon Love did not take the troll bait. Instead, the 53-year-old stand-up comedian thanked Ice Cube, his co-writer DJ Pooh, and Friday director F. Gary Gray for allowing him to be part of what he called an “iconic picture.”

Now, another member of the Friday franchise cast came out to defend Ice Cube and the filmmakers. Fellow comedian Michael Blackson took to social media to share his thoughts on being featured in the Friday sequel Next Friday.

“[Ice Cube] is not to [blame] for us getting paid so little. It’s the film industry’s pay scale. I got paid $800 a day when I did Next Friday plus overtime I made $1200 for my one day’s work of ‘I can’t get giggy with this s###.’ Thanks to Next Friday I became the biggest African comic,” tweeted Michael Blackson.

The Ghana-born Dr. Blackson star also wrote on Instagram. “Just like any other job, there’s entry-level pay for first-timers, once you make a name for yourself you can demand any amount of money that you want and if they want you they will pay. [Ice Cube,] thanks for the Friday franchise because it got me where I am today. When I produce my film, I’m paying new neegas [sic] in food and p####.”

Following its release in 1995, the original Friday went on to become a cult classic that spawned 2000’s Next Friday and 2002’s Friday After Next. John Witherspoon, Chris Tucker, Nia Long, Regina King, Tom Lister Jr., Bernie Mac, Mike Epps, Katt Williams, Terry Crews, and Rickey Smiley appeared in at least one of the Friday movies.

Chris Brown Announces New Album, NFT, Movie & Artwork

Fans of Chris Brown have been waiting on new music from the singer following the release of 2019’s “Indigo.” After teasing the project in recent months, Breezy confirmed that the album is on the way along with a host of other projects. 

Chris Brown is a very sporadic tweeter. So, when he does bless the social media platform with a post, you can be sure it’s significant. The announcement came shortly after midnight (Dec. 30). Typing in all caps, the singer wrote, “CANT WAIT TO SHOW YOU GUYS ALL THE STUFF IVE BEEN WORKING ON . (MUSIC, NFT, ART, [MOVIE] ALBUM, VISUALS, ETC)” 

Earlier this month (Dec. 17), Chris revealed that the “Breezy Era” was coming: “Breezy Era will start in January,” he wrote on his Instagram Stories.  

“Chris Brown announces that #BREEZY era, for his 10th studio album, will start in January.” 

Furthermore, he revealed a “Breezy” short film was also in production.  

Meanwhile, back in the summer, Chris Brown hinted that new music was due. “When I drop this s### I hope ya ears are ready,” he told fans. 

Elsewhere this week, Chris Brown had cause for celebration after reaching a huge milestone. The “Deuces” hitmaker took to Instagram to share a photograph of himself sitting on an inflatable “100” balloon in the clouds.

Gunna Says “Thou Shall Not Steal” After His Security Body Slam Man In Jewelers

Gunna has some seriously tight security! Wunna and his entourage were doing a little shopping when his security had to spring into action.  

The rapper was busy browsing the display cases when an overzealous fan ran up on Gunna a little too quickly for his team’s liking. The bodyguard was swift and decisive in his response, lifting the man off his feet and slamming him to the ground. As the man hit the ground, the impact caused both shoes to fly from his feet mid-air.  

Gunna was shopping for some new drip at Mr. Alex Jewelers on Lexington Avenue in New York City when the scuffle went down. What exactly happened after the altercation is unclear, although the fan is likely to have a few bruises as a result.

However, Gunna alluded to the incident later on Wednesday (Dec. 29) in a video shared on Instagram. The “Drip Too Hard” rapper could be seen strolling along a palm tree-lined area as he spoke to the camera.

Kanye West In Belize with J Prince; Links with Shyne

Kanye West and J Prince have been spotted out in Belize! The pair are visiting the Island and are linking with local politicians, including former Bad Boy artist, Shyne.  

On Wednesday night (Dec. 29) Shyne – who is Belize’s Opposition Leader of the House of Representatives – revealed news of Kanye’s arrival in the country.

According to Breaking Belize News, J Prince and Kanye West arrived at Philip Goldson International Airport on Wednesday. The “DONDA” hitmaker and the Rap-a-Lot Records boss arrived to a warm reception. Upon arrival, the pair were met by the nation’s Director of Tourism, Evan Tillett. 

While the purpose of the visit is unclear, the Belize Tourism Board welcomed the pair and issued a statement. “The BTB heartily welcomes James and Kanye to Belize and wishes them a fruitful, enjoyable, and memorable vacation in the Jewel.” 

Kanye West could be staying with J Prince, said to own the private island Rosewood Caye. The hideaway is located near Ambergris Caye, the largest island in Belize and the main destination for tourists. 

Back in April, he shared a video of himself riding around the island on a jet ski. “They told me I was dreaming too big,” he said. “They told me I was crazy, they said it was impossible. I done made the impossible possible. Prince Island No. 1. Loyalty for life.”

Ice Cube Says “I Didn’t Rob Nobody” On “Friday,” Faizon Love Responds

Ice Cube found himself responding to critics who accused him of short-changing the stars of the iconic hood movie “Friday.” 

A Twitter user posted an interview where Faizon Love claimed he was only paid $2,500 to play Big Worm in “Friday.” He tagged Ice Cube and said he “act like he for the people and whole time been robbing his own people.” He added, “Pay them people.” 

The post gained traction with commenters offering differing opinions, and Cube eventually clapped back.  

“I didn’t rob no f##### body,” Ice Cube said. “The 1995 Friday movie cost $2.3m to make. Shot it in 20 days. Fazion worked 1 day, maybe 2. All the actors got paid scale to do the movie. They could’ve simple said “No” but they didn’t. So miss me with that s###…” 

Faizon Love Responds To Ice Cube  

Faizon Love must have gotten wind of the backlash Ice Cube received because he decided to clarify his remarks. He took to Instagram to share a photograph of himself and the Compton native smiling for the camera.  

“First of all I not only consider Ice Cube a comrade but my brother,” he wrote in the caption. “I’m still a fan I think he’s One of the dopest n##### to ever touch a mic. I guess it’s a slow news week so let me say what I got paid is a moot point, it was the price of admission to a game . I have zero regrets. Actually , I want to take this time to thank Cube Dj Pooh and Felix Gary Grey for letting me be apart of such an iconic picture. I truly have nothing but love For these brothers. WestSide N#####!!!!!!!! @icecube @djpooh” 

Ice Cube retweeted the post and captioned it simply with the raised fist and one hundred emojis.  

Earlier on Wednesday (Dec. 29), Ice Cube explained why Chris Tucker was left out of the Friday sequel. He responded to a post suggesting it had something to do with money. According to Cube, despite an offer of $10-12 million, Tucker declined the role for religious reasons.

Jermaine Dupri Celebrates JD’s Vegan Ice Cream Being Sold At Walmart

Jermaine Dupri is finding success outside of the music business.

The Songwriters Hall of Fame member’s new ice cream JD’s Vegan is now available at over 700 Walmart stores nationwide. Jermaine Dupri shared his excitement over Walmart selling his dessert in an Instagram post on Wednesday (December 29).

“We really did it!!!” he wrote. “Yes! I’m over the moon, 736 @walmart stores out the gate go to JDsvegan.com, type in your zip code and find what store is close to you.”

Jermaine Dupri’s dairy-free ice cream launched with three flavors: Welcome to Atlanta (Peach Cobbler), Apple Butter and Strawberry Sweetheart. JD’s Vegan will begin selling three more flavors – Chocolate My Way, Key Lime Pie and (404) Cookies & Cream – in 2022.
