Raekwon, Ghostface Battle It Out During Verzuz; “Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 3,” New Book And Energy Drink Coming

The first Verzuz battle to happen after Swizz Beatz and Timbaland sold the franchise to Triller earlier this month, happened tonight featuring an unconventional pairing.

Two of The Wu-Tang Clan’s most popular members, Raekwon and Ghostface Killah went up against each other.

However, unlike the other battles, they shared the stage in a true celebration of each other’s work.

Sure, that is supposed to be the way they have been playing this thing out … but no other episode has or could be like Rae and Ghost. The two are in the same group.

The two have very similar styles. Most of all, they appear on each other’s albums in such a way that you might even consider them a duo.

Raekwon and Ghost put on a memorable performance during round one of their friendly competition running through songs like “Incarcerated Scarfaces,” “Nutmeg,” “Ice Cream,” “Criminology,” “Cherchez La Ghost,” while Cappadonna and RZA popped in and made appearances.

In round two, Raekwon held it down and performed “C.R.E.A.M,” as Ghostface went missing for the first few minutes of the second half, only to reappear in a new outfit, sporting a massive white fur before launching into his song “Holla.”

Other songs in round two included “Daytona 500,” “Glaciers of Ice,” “Run,” “One,” and “Back Like That,” “Never Be The Same Again,” “Summertime,” and “Can It Be All So Simple,” while Inspectah Deck and Masta Killah were special guests.

RZA popped back in during the second half to give a toast to Raekwon and Ghostface.

“On behalf of what yall do, and what you’ve brought to Hip-Hop, word is bond, I salute yall, just want to say peace and blessing,” RZA said.

Raekwon revealed he is in the process of writing a new book, “From the Staircases to the Stage,” a 300-page book about his life coming out through Simon & Shuster.

Ghostface revealed he has five albums planned, in addition to Only Built 4 Cuban Linx 3 with Raekwon. Ghost is also working on a new energy drink called “C.R.E.A.M.”

Rae and Ghost’s Verzuz proved why they are one of Hip-Hop’s greatest duos — up there with P and Hav, Meth and Red, and Snoop and Dre.

The first member of the Wu-Tang Clan to appear on the franchise was RZA during season one, against DJ Premier.

Just one month ago, Method Man became the second Wu member on Verzuz and the first in season 2.  He was not in competition, but joined D’Angelo’s set to perform their hit song, “Break Ups 2 Make Ups” and “Left & Right.”

Lil Durk Addresses Mass Shooting At Club That Injured Seven And Killed One

The police in Dallas Texas are on the hunt for a gunman who shut up an after-party featuring Lil Durk in what could be labeled as a mass shooting.

Lil Durk was hosting an after-party at Pryme nightclub when police responded to an emergency call about an active shooter.

By the time cops arrived, seven people were shot, and a 21-year-old woman was killed.

The cops believe an argument in front of the club led to the shooting. Lil Durk denied the shooting had anything to do with the after-party.

“So cap it wasn’t a shooting not even a fight at the club…seem like the police got n##### working real street n##### be safe out here,” Lil Durk said.

The cops are on the hunt for two suspects – one man who attempted to calm the shooter down, and the actual gunman himself. So far, police have yet to make an arrest in the latest high-profile shooting incident involving a rapper.

In November of 2020, 28-year-old Dallas rapper Mo3 was gunned down and killed on I-35. Shortly after Mo3’s death, Boosie was targeted and shot in the leg, when gunmen open fire on his sprinter van.

Dave East Gets Into Legalized Cannabis; Says He Has The “Best Weed Ever”

Guess a little bit of Nas’ hustle is rubbing off on his protégé Dave East.

The Harlemite took to Instagram to announce his latest venture into legalized pharmaceuticals with a video simply captioned, “Stay Tuned #EASTCO.”

The video features him in a cannabis farm with the OG music manager, Steve Lobel, and the “Handsome. Handsome.” rapper’s voiceover saying:

“We started from Ground Zero right here, ya dig…we created an idea. [We] created a name. Meet up with the right partners. Created family. Watch that seed grow. Best weed ever. I’m co-signing my own s###.”

https://www.instagram.com/p/CMoLHqwhXRX/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link

This is an exciting time for weed entrepreneurship. While cannabis is still illegal on a federal level, most states have some sort of flexibility in dealing with the plant.

There are three states with legislation that is firm on their “no public access to the plant” policies. There are sixteen states and one territory that have both adult and medical use regulated programs.

Candace Owens Says Cardi B’s “Next Level Psychopathic” And Promises Legal War With “WAP” Rapper

Candace Owens is attempting to reduce Cardi B’s empire to rubble.

Last night on the debut episode of her show “Candace” for The Daily Wire, Owens doubled down – and confirmed she is suing Cardi B over a tweet the rap star posted on Twitter.

“There’s not a single person that can look you in the face and say that they hope their daughters turn out like you, and that has to hit home for someone like her, who has a young daughter, and I hope that it does,” Candace said during her show.

Other guests included Ben Shapiro, Nicole Arbour, Brandon Tatum and Jocko Willink, who continued their criticism of Cardi B’s performance of “WAP” with Megan Thee Stallion during the Grammy’s last Sunday (March 14th).

Brandon Tatum and other members of Candace’s panel labeled their Grammy performance “disgusting,” while Nicole Arbour said: “I don’t feel like this is a positive portrayal of women.”

Cardi B’s latest war with Candace Owen started after the rappers’ raunchy performance during the Grammys.

Some viewers were shocked by the provocative show as the rappers grinded, writhed, and twerked on a giant prop bed and rocked skimpy outfits. Despite the critics, Cardi and Meg’s performance has been viewed more times that actual show.

Candace slammed Cardi for encouraging “young women to strip themselves of dignity” in front of a national audience.

The back-and-forth turned into threats when Cardi posted what looked like a tweet sent out by Owens in November 2020 where she apparently admitted that her husband had sex with her brother, leading to Owens’ promise of a defamation lawsuit.

“You mess with my family, I won’t stop until I’m the CEO and chairman of that WAP,” Candance Owens snarled.

“I am a forgiving person but Cardi KNEW the tweet was doctored, KNEW it was about private family members and spent a full day lying to her millions of fans saying she KNEW it was real,” Candace Owens said. “That’s next level psychopathic—but to be expected from a woman who has drugged and robbed men.”

Lil Mama Vows To Start “Heterosexual Rights Movement” To Stop LGBTQ Bullying

Brooklyn rapper Lil Mama is currently facing a great deal of backlash from the LGBTQ community. But no worries, it seems the “Lip Gloss” chart-topper is bucking back — ready to duke it out. #CancelCultureBeDamned

During the week, she jumped on her Instagram story and shared that she was going to start an anti-straight bully campaign called the “Heterosexual Rights Movement” – that will stop the senseless persecution of people who live heteronormative lives.

On the Live, she wrote, “Y’all fight so hard to be respected and SOME of you, NOT ALL, get a kick out bullying people for having an option, how they dress, how their hair and or makeup looks, how much money they have, etc.”

Lil Mama even noted that she felt like straight people are targeted and ostracized for their expressing their opinions, saying, “because if they do, the LGBTQ+ will hear what they want to hear and take statements out of context.”

This is not the first time that she has expressed strong views about the LGBTQ+ community.

Last week she shared on her social media platform a tweet that called into question why Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade would allow their daughter Zaya Wade to live her life differently than the gender assigned to her at birth.

“So children are too young to smoke cigarettes, too young to drink alcohol, too young to get a drivers license, too young to go to a club, too young to gamble, too young to rent a car, but old enough to cut off their genitals and/or ‘change’ their gender? -This is insanity #America,” the tweet read.

Then she added, “DEPOPULATION AT ANY COST CAT FIGHTS SWORD FIGHTS Used be a cat now ima dog WHATEVER TO STOP NEW LIFE REPRODUCTION.”

Lil Mama later went to discuss it on Instagram with another person who shared her views.

Over ten years ago, when she was a judge on the hit MTV show “America’s Best Dance Crew,: she also said, “I just feel that you always have to remember your truth. You were born a man,” to a transgender dance crew leader.

Needless to say, she is currently getting dragged for her statements.

Daniyel Unveils New Single “IT’S OK”

Daniyel is only 19-years-old and he is already living out his dreams. Hailing from Portland but now based in Los Angeles, the singer-songwriter creates music inspired by real-life experiences, wearing his heart on his sleeve with each release.

Nicknamed The Kosher Boy due to his half-Jewish heritage, his Kosher tattoo represents both real and authentic.

Now, he returns with the official music video for “IT’S OKAY,” released via CORTAN Records/EMPIRE. The uplifting record gives hope to the masses that no matter what happens in life, in the end, we will all be okay!

Inspired directly by his friend Andy’s ukulele chords, Daniyel proceeded to jump in the booth and freestyle the lyrics.

So what exactly influenced “IT’S OK”? Bob Marley’s timeless hit “Three Little Birds.”

Speaking on the making of the record, Daniyel states, “Me and my friends were kicking it in the studio one night, and my boy Andy started playing these ukulele chords, I hopped straight in the booth and started freestyling these lyrics. When we go to the studio, we record everything. We uploaded that session at 9 pm and the next morning, it went viral on TikTok. This song truly makes me feel like no matter what is going on in my life, it will be okay.”

While he usually spends a lot of time writing treatments for his videos, for this particular video he just wants the feeling that everything will be okay.

“I know you want to make this into a show so I’ll play my part just this one time. I don’t normally put my business out there, especially my personal life. I feel the need to address this so there are no false narratives,” Quavo told Saweetie.

Nicki Minaj’s Mom Seeks $150 Million Worth Of Justice For Death Of Rapper’s Father

If you think Nicki Minaj is no joke, wait until you check out the boss move her mother Carol Maraj just made.

After her husband was mowed down by a shiftless and reckless driver, she is pulling all stops to make sure that he pays for taking the love of her life away.

Ms. Maraj is suing the man, Charles Polevich, 70, who not only struck Nicki’s father Robert Maraj with his car but left the scene before calling emergency services or alerting the police.

He also tampered with the evidence surrounding the accident.

Momma Minaj is suing for $150 million. She has secured civil rights attorneys Ben Crump and Paul Napoli to represent her in this case. Ben Crump addressed the new case that was seen in the Nassau County Supreme Court.

“He [Robert Maraj] was fatally injured in a hit-and-run accident on February 12, 2021, when he was struck by a car being driven by Charles Polevich as Mr. Maraj walked along a Long Island road. After striking Maraj, Polevich left the accident scene and did not call for emergency services or render aid to Maraj.”

A post shared by Ben Crump (@attorneycrump)

“He [Polevich] was not only irresponsible and negligent but more concerned about running away and hiding than seeking help,” he captioned.

“Polevich’s behavior was criminal, cowardly, and immoral. We will hold him responsible for his reckless actions that led to Robert Maraj’s death!”

While it would seem that such a hefty price tag on the lawsuit would make anyone quiver, Polevich’s lawyer, Marc Gann said that this civil matter would be handled by his insurance company, stating that his client had a “tremendous amount of empathy for the family, the loss that they’ve suffered, and expressed condolences.”

We remain prayerful as this family grieves the loss of their patriarch.

Earlier today (March 19th), Saweetie publicly confirmed she had split with Quavo, after a two-year whirlwind relationship.

Saweetie let Twitter know she was single and had “endured too much betrayal and hurt behind the scenes for a false narrative to be circulating that decrees my character.”

The “Icy Girl” rapper’s declaration led to a chilly response from Quavo, who issued his reply, although he did not address Saweetie’s claims that he gave the “intimacy” to other women and ruined their relationship.

“I know you want to make this into a show so I’ll play my part just this one time,” Quavo said. “I don’t normally put my business out there, especially my personal life. I feel the need to address this so there are no false narratives.”

In a follow-up message to his ex, Quavo expressed his disappointment, and questioned Saweetie’s womanhood!

“I had love for you and disappointed you did all that. You are not the woman I thought you were. I wish you nothing but the best 🙏🏾.”

Saweetie had a short reply: “take care.” The news of their breakup has had Quavo, Saweetie, Offset, and Takeoff, trending on Twitter for most of the day.

Saweetie Says Quavo Was Intimate With Other Women And Confirms Break Up

Rap star Saweetie has confirmed reports that she has broken up with Migos group member Quavo.

Social media sleuths noticed that there was trouble in paradise earlier this week when the celebrity rap couple decided to unfollow each other.

Saweetie also alluded to their split during an interview earlier this week, where she suggested she had been cheated on.

Earlier today (March 19th), Saweetie put the rumors to rest.  During a series of tweets, she confirmed that Quavo was giving his attention to other women.

“I’m single. I’ve endured too much betrayal and hurt behind the scenes for a false narrative to be circulating that degrades my character,” Saweetie said. “Presents don’t bandage scars and the love isn’t real when the intimacy is given to other women.”

Saweetie was obviously referencing the custom Bentley Quavo purchased for the “Tap In” rapper as a present last Christmas. The relationship for the couple lasted just over two years.

Rolls-Royce’s To Range Rovers: Rappers Spent MILLIONS For Christmas

They were romantically linked after she was featured in Quavo’s video for “Workin Me.” While the news is disappointing, the “Best Friend” rapper seems to have bounced back already.

Saweetie is not sitting around feeling bad about the breakup.

“I emotionally checked out a long time ago and have walked away with a deep sense of peace and freedom,” Saweetie said. “Excited for this new chapter of elevation.”

A Convicted Sex Offender Is Stalking Willow Smith

Willow Smith is being hunted by a convicted sex offender, and she’s asking a judge to do something about it.

According to documents obtained by TMZ, a guy named Walter James Whaley has been prowling on her property, trying to get into her house.

According to evidence found at the scene, Whaley traveled from Oklahoma to Los Angeles in an attempt to make contact with Willow.

Willow’s and security cameras caught the 38-year-old man mulling around her property in December of 2020. Her team immediately called the police, but Whaley managed to get away.

Willow became disturbed when she found a Greyhound bus ticket Whaley allegedly left behind, indicating he had traveled from Oklahoma the day before he was photographed at her Los Angeles residence.

Whaley has also been stalking Willow on social media, saying he wanted to get married to the 20-year-old daughter of Will and Jada Pinkett Smith, and aimed to have children with her.

Thankfully, the judge granted Willow Smith’s temporary restraining order.

Whaley has been ordered to stop communicating with her and must stay at least 100 yards away from her at all times.

Cardi B Explains Her Billion-Dollar Ambitions

Cardi B wants to be a “billion-dollar woman” like Rihanna.

The “Up” hitmaker – who has two-year-old daughter Kulture with husband Offset – looks up to artists like the “Work” hitmaker and Hip-Hop superstar Jay-Z, who have built lucrative business empires alongside successful music careers, and wants to follow in their footsteps.

Speaking to Stationhead, the 28-year-old rapper said: “When I came to the game and people used to be like, ‘Who do you look up to?’ I always used to say, ‘I don’t look up to nobody,’ because I didn’t really understand the game and I only feel like I got influenced by the people that was around me.

“Now that I’m at the level that I’m at, one of my biggest influences is Rihanna and Jay-Z. And I’m not just saying it to kiss ass or anything. I just feel like they’re so influential because Rihanna comes from a country, a Caribbean country, that my parents came from and she’s a whole billionaire.

“But for her to make her business so big and be a billionaire, that’s what I strive to be. That’s what I want. I want to be a billion-dollar woman.”

Speaking about rapper Jay-Z – who is married to Beyonce – Cardi added how “he’s from the hood just like me. He’s from the hood and this man’s a whole billionaire. And that’s just all about strategy and that’s just all about shaking hands, that’s just all about putting plans together.”

Rihanna is a billionaire largely thanks to her Savage x Fenty lingerie line, while “99” Problems hitmaker Jay-Z has several business ventures and most recently sold a majority stake in streaming service to Tidal and 50% of his champagne brand to LVMH, which shifted his net worth to a whopping $1.4 billion.

Kevin Writer Speaks On Supervising The Music For Will Smith’s “Amend: The Fight for America”

Kevin Writer may have just gotten his biggest gig to date: music supervising Will Smith’s new movie about the 14th Amendment called Amend: The Fight for America.

Debuted on Netflix, the 6-hour docuseries asks the ever-evolving question: “What does it mean to be an American?”

The groundbreaking narrative format sees Mahershala Ali, Diane Lane, Samuel L. Jackson, Pedro Pascal, and Yara Shahidi breathing life into writings and speeches by the 14th Amendment’s most passionate advocates such as Frederick Douglass, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and Andrew Johnson.

Insert Kevin Writer, the music supervisor who collaborated with Dreamville’s Deputy, Mikhala Jené, and Inglewood’s own D Smoke in releasing the soundtrack’s title track titled “We Are the Promise.”

The song explores the evolving fight for equal rights in America, with Smith declaring “this country is worth fighting for because of THE PROMISE of the 14th Amendment.” Together, Writer and Smith created an uplifting anthem that embodies the spirit of the series while serving as a battle cry for everyone who’s ever struggled with the promise of America.

Additionally, Writer will be music supervising and producing content for a new educational platform titled Blueprint, which focuses on social and emotional learning serving middle school and high school kids. Joining him on the project will be Smith’s own son, Jaden Smith.

Read below as we discuss his work at the intersection of music and social justice, along with what it means to be able to work with Will Smith and Westbrook Ent.

AllHipHop: What was the household like growing up in Detroit?

Kevin Writer: It was great. I come from a Christian household, so my first experiences came from making music in my family’s church. I worked as an intern for Fred Hammond, who’s a musician from the gospel world and that internship led to more opportunities, which eventually landed me in Los Angeles. Nick Cannon and I partnered to build Ncredible Records and that’s where things really got going for me. He mentored me and connected me with L.A. Reid and Mariah Carey. I’ve been very fortunate to be able to work throughout the industry and do work that I’m passionate about.

AllHipHop: Best memories from working with Nick Cannon and touring as Mariah’s opening act?

Kevin Writer: It was a fantastic journey. Nick was a great mentor. As an African American working in Hollywood, he really cleared the path for me and a lot of other great artists like H.E.R. and Kehlani.

Touring and writing with Mariah was a great experience. She was incredibly supportive and collaborative. One of the most humble people I’ve ever worked with, considering that she’s sold more records than almost everybody. [laughs]

AllHipHop: Talk about your work now at the intersection of music and social justice.

Kevin Writer: I think music and social justice have always had a unique connection. Throughout history music has been one of the most effective tools in the fight for a more equitable society. Music inspires people and when it’s used in this way, it oftentimes brings out the best in us. During this project, our team was literally protesting in the streets and then going to the studio to create the sound for AMEND which was a surreal experience.

The 14th Amendment, which is what Amend is all about, impacted my grandparents, my parents and now my own life. It was because of the promise of the 14th Amendment, that things like Civil Rights, same sex marriage rights, Immigration Rights and Women’s Suffrage have been able to proliferate.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1h9gmJxvZU0

AllHipHop: What does “We Are the Promise” mean to you? It’s such a powerful record.

Kevin Writer: “We Are the Promise” was birthed from a meeting with Will Smith, he kept saying that the 14th Amendment was a “PROMISE” and that the U.S. was worth fighting for, specifically because of this promise. So how does this promise get fulfilled? It gets fulfilled by us, by people who deserve to be viewed as equal in the eyes of the law and to have an equal experience. If you look at cases like Brown v. The Board of Education, Obergerfell v. Hodges or The United States v. Wong Kim Ark, the promise of the 14th Amendment is the entire backbone. “We Are the Promise” really was a battle cry that says in order for the promise to be fulfilled, we can’t depend on the government to come up with the solutions. We have to stand up, get involved in our communities, get involved in these conversations, and sacrifice so we can help fulfill that promise.

AllHipHop: Talk about the making of the record, also D Smoke’s involvement with the song.

Kevin Writer: We worked with Deputy from Dreamville Records and Mikhala Jené. When we brought the project to them, they hopped right on board because of the messaging and the impact the 14th Amendment has had on their lives. We were thinking of lyricists to be a part of the project and D Smoke’s work has always represented the perspective of the people. I’ve been a fan of D Smoke for a long time, so it was cool to work with him on a project like this.

He dropped a song last year called “Black Habits” that’s one of the most played songs on my Spotify playlist. His body of work speaks for itself. He’s African American and Latin American so his experience is two-fold and unique. We thought as a team it’d be so impactful to have him be a part of it. With him being nominated for Best New Artist at the Grammys, the timing couldn’t be better.

AllHipHop: How did you land the role of music supervising such a big project for Netflix?

Kevin Writer: The opportunity came via two producers I’d been working closely with, Jana Babatunde-Bey and Jamal Watson. We talked a lot about human rights and civil rights leading up to the project and found that we shared a lot of the same ideas.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5moVOyR1o4A

AllHipHop: What was it like working with Will Smith on the docuseries?

Kevin Writer: It was pretty surreal. Will is someone who really cares about this topic. He gave me an opportunity to present my song to him and the Netflix executive team in person. He has a piano in his house, he said “why don’t you present the song idea for everyone?” That was a special moment for me.

AllHipHop: How were the 62 songs determined for the series?

Kevin Writer: That was a lot. Haha. A lot of the music came from artists who we knew were passionate about Civil Rights, Women’s Suffrage, LGBTQ rights and Immigration rights and have made music that represents these ideas. Ian Broucek also came on as co-supervisor, he’s a real pro and I learned a lot working with him. He had a great ear for this world of music.

Picking those songs was really about being responsible to the project, to each episode and to the overall messaging. We have an original song in the project titled “Shoot” from singer-songwriter Stacy Barthe. One of my favorites. She came on set and gave a performance that was beautiful. I hope folks are able to see that one day.

AllHipHop: How was it working with stars like Mahershala Ali, Diane Lane, Samuel Jackson and Pedro Pascal, Yara Shahidi?

Kevin Writer: At the top of Episode 6, which is the last episode, we talk about immigration. You see this conviction when people talk about what their American experience has been.

One of our producers, Hayley Delaine asked the question: Has the United States lived up to its promise? And the answers were somewhat surprising. Most of the people you’ve mentioned have experienced real challenges due to the country not necessarily living up to its ideals. Seeing the strength, the persistence and the love in these people’s eyes was really special.

AllHipHop: Any goals for yourself at this point in your career?

Kevin Writer: I really would like to continue to work on projects like this. I’m currently working with Exeter High School in New Hampshire on a project where we’re highlighting artists like Lauryn Hill and Bob Marley and discussing how they’ve impacted the world with their music.

I’m also working on a project called Blueprint right now with Jaden Smith. Where we explore social impact, music and art with middle school and high school kids.

AllHipHop: Why did you get involved with a project about the 14th Amendment?

Kevin Writer: I got involved because I recognized how the 14th Amendment has impacted my life and it impacted my family’s life. Without the promise of the 14th Amendment, I’m not sure I’d have the opportunity to work on an important project like this.

AllHipHop: Anything else you want to let us know?

Kevin Writer: If you haven’t seen Amend yet, check it out. At times it’s not an easy watch, but it’s an important watch. A lot of people don’t know much about the 14th Amendment because the wording is kind of complicated. AMEND makes it a lot more accessible.

I’d also like to thank the entire team for the opportunity: Tomas Carillo, Omarr Rambert, Hayley Delaine, Candace Rodney, Ian Broucek, Jamal Watson, Jana Babatunde-Bey and everyone @ Overbrook, Westbrook, MakeMake and Neophonic.

Mark Universe: Rapper/Producer Talks Inspiration & adding value to others

AllHipHop caught up with Mark Universe to discuss his roots being raised in different cities, what is unique about his music, his latest releases,” what he wishes he was told starting out, work ethic, and more!

AllHipHop: What is the meaning behind your name and what was it like growing up?

Mark Universe: M.a.r.k is an acronym which means “Made a Righteous King,” Universe means “one verse”. One verse of the Bible changed my life and one verse of my lyrics can make someone a fan. I lived in different cites growing up. I lived in Sac Town, Brooklyn and Prichard, Alabama. I believe living in different cites helped mold how I think today. I remember looking for the best part of each aspect or city and build on that. Overall, I had a small circle and tried to stay out of trouble. Fashion was big for me too I was a sneaker head and won best dressed as a senior. Besides that One of the things I remember most was to pass time I remember we would download instrumentals from popular songs and remix them or just freestyle to them for hours.

AllHipHop: Tell us about your latest releases, what inspired you to create them?

Mark Universe: So now, its March 2021. So far, I have released three singles, the first was “Inspiration” this song has multiple meanings, from my relationships to my faith, and the creative process of music.
The second release was “Familiar” which started off as a freestyle and turned into a song mainly urging listeners to get familiar with me because I intend on having longevity and consistency.

The third was “Loss to Learns” which addresses times when people or situations tried to take advantage of me or disrespect me and how I learned to bounce back from setbacks and make the most of life.
I like to take my life lessons and put them in my songs mainly to motivate my listeners to stay encouraged and know they can overcome in life as well.

What inspired me to create them is purpose and passion honestly, I believe it’s what God put me on this earth to do. I have always felt of void for the type of music that I wanted to hear and create.
I plan to release an EP in June 2021.

AllHipHop: What is unique about you and your music?

Mark Universe: I believe it’s a few things, one is I produce all my music, and all my lyrics are considered non-explicit. I remember watching a documentary about Mike Tyson, he said although he was a heavy weight he trained and patterned his style to a light weight because of their speed.
Similar to Tyson I tend to consider my thought process and lyrics to be more related to a conscious artist, let’s consider lyrical artists to be like heavy weights, but I love beats with knock, bounce, and flare which is like the speed of a lightweight. I implement both facets. To me I think dope beats are what makes music entertaining and catchy. I like to implement complex meaningful lyricism, and fire beats I believe that helps make my music unique.

AllHipHop: What shaped your music?

Mark Universe: Life in general shapes my lyrics. In other words, everything inspires me. My creative mind is always on. For example, I wrote about a being in a pitch-black room while trying to fall asleep but I noticed a small blinking light. The creative side of me looked at this, like even in darkness you can find light if you look for it. Darkness being negativity and light being positive perspectives.

Most of the time I try to record or write when I have intense feelings so I can capture the emotion of the moment, that shapes my music. I can really express it and control it from every sound of the beat to every infliction in my cadence

AllHipHop: When did you realize you were going to make music professionally?

Mark Universe: When I had a record deal offer at a local recording studio. Although I didn’t accept it, I did begin taking the business more seriously.

AllHipHop: What type of music do you listen to?

Mark Universe: Now I mostly listen to rap playlist sometimes it helps me discover new artists, I don’t have a favorite but I respect too many to name. But growing up the main people that influenced me was Lil Wayne because of his punchlines Eminem because of his cadences, 50cent because of his confidence, even gospel music like Israel Houghton and Fred Hammond. As mentioned everything in life the wins the losses the good and bad all made me stronger. The amazing music I have listen to really contributed to what I do today.

AllHipHop: What do you do when you don’t do music (creative or otherwise) and that you are passionate about?

Mark Universe: I like playing basketball, I even coached 7-8-year-old squad. I also like spending time with my family. I have three kids; they are really creative and are interested in film, that helped introduce me to learning more about the film and animation industry. Although I love music, I am passionate about family as well as building strong communities. I am a board member of The Community Action Network Initiatives (C.A.N.I.) which promotes civic engagement and life-coaching techniques for advancing the communities.

AllHipHop: Happiness to you is…

Mark Universe: I’m happy when I add value to others. I learned life isn’t about what I can get but what I can give.

AllHipHop: What do you wish you were told when you first started making music that you think would help artists just starting out?

Mark Universe: Don’t be naïve or let people scam you. Be willing to work at this(music) for the rest of your life. Don’t expect to blow up overnight, work on building and taking steps instead of just a quick jump and blowing up. Work on music as much as you can. Never stop learning, never think you know all there is to know. Keep like-minded people in your circle. Trust is earned not given.

AllHipHop: Tell us about your upcoming projects…

Mark Universe: I have mostly released music without features expect that to change on our next project. I intend to have some exciting features on it with names you have heard of and love.

AllHipHop: Where do we find you music / music projects?

Mark Universe: I recommend going to my website and signing the email list, because like I mentioned I am most happy when I can add value. Besides offering music I love merch. I’m very generous I like to give subscribers free things. For example, in the winter I gave free Beanies/ Skully hats. This summer I will give free sunglasses.

AllHipHop: Any last words for the readers?

Mark Universe: Make sure to sign the email list to stay up to date I plan to release new music every month but it’s so much more I’d like to offer and I’d like to keep in touch. Follow me dm me comment whatever is convenient for you, I love to keep an open line of communication. God bless, much success to you.

Kirk Franklin’s Son Seems To Make A Startling Revelation

It looks like Kirk Franklin has some more issues. His son, who is now kind of famous, seems to be suggesting that Mr. Franklin abused him. I am not sure but this is sort of what the rumors are starting to circulate. And when I say rumors I mean some of these gossip magazines.

No, it just seems like there’s a lot of smoke here and when I mean smoke I mean accusations. Serious accusations. Are they valid, who knows? But I’ve never gotten any type of molester vibes from Kirk Franklin. The internet sleuths have looked into some audio that was released that Kirk Franklin’s son apparently said. I do not know what Kirk Franklin’s seed sounds like so I have no ability to verify or validate the audio. I am not here to defend anyone that is molesting children, but hoping they heal.

I suppose something could’ve happened, right? I don’t know, this is a mess! It feels like a hit job though and that part I will be honest about. It feels like a seek and destroy mission we are the audio came first, now these molestation charges are being levied at a very well respected individual. I knew nothing, but my feelings stand on the ground that this is a hit job.

And they are doing a good job, if it is.

Waka Flocka Says He’s Broke!

Waka Flocka says he’s broke. WHAT? I know that the pandemic is messing up a lot of artists, because their music is predicated on being outside – concerts, walk throughs, and other various things like selling drugs. I don’t know! Anyway, this is what the son of the great Deb Antney is telling people.

Waka Flocka recently opened ALL THE WAY UP (to quote Fat Joe) up about being “broke” during this damn pandemic. All of this stems from an ep of “Waka & Tammy”:

“If you don’t make money ma, technically, you don’t got money. I lost millions. I go back to zero every year, ma, and this year is not looking good.” ?

Wait a sec…clear this up Waka and he did.

“My broke, people say is they rich. But what I am gonna do is figure out new business ventures. I’m just goin’ with the wind, man. I’m going with the water, I ain’t goin’ against the ocean.”

Dude ain’t broke. He’s just not making money like he used to making.

I suggest comedy, because this is funny!

Lil Mama Is In Hot Water Over “Transphobic” Remarks

I think social media’s gonna be the death of some of these people! Lil Mama is back at it again. I’m not sure what she’s thinking she’s doing but, this is not the hill to die on! The rapper talk to Brother Rizza about transsexual affairs, most namely children. I’m not going to offer an opinion on that, because that is not the point at this particular moment. But she offered her opinion, and that opinion has incensed a number of people in the LGBT+ community. What she said Is basically, that kids under puberty are not in a position to decide if they can have a sex change. But don’t get me started, here is exactly what she said.

I have already seen what happened to her when she stepped out of line. She was banned from all sorts of platforms for a very long time. And, quite frankly she has been getting dragged for quite some time. In fact, I believe this started a week or so ago. This is a clip that folks are circulating in support of their feeling that she hates trans.

https://twitter.com/LordeCali/status/983048479848230912?

But let me try to get to the bottom of this.

So, now she is considered transphobic. But I will say this: Lil Mama is not biting her tongue. in fact she’s doubling down on her opinions. And that is going to be very interesting, because most people are not saying anything. The dialogue, as I see it, is primarily being conducted over social media outlets and that person to person.

Some of the LGBT folks that I know are infuriated, and yelling back. Some are more reserved but in vocal disagreement with what has been said by the rapper. David Johns is fuming, but he gave a measured response.
