Benzino Objects To Dr. Dre Crowning Eminem Best MC Ever: “This Is An Insult”

Benzino predictably disagreed with Dr. Dre calling Eminem the best MC ever, continuing a bitter feud with Slim Shady. Benzino said Dr. Dre insulted Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, MC Ren, The D.O.C. and more by championing Eminem.

“You know I think Dr Dre is one of the greatest producers of all time, and notice I didn’t say Hip Hop producers, but this is an insult to Cube, REN, Snoop, Doc and every other rapper who who wrote all those hits,” Benzino wrote. “I mean this is his opinion and I respect it but cmon Dre.”

Dr. Dre praised Eminem on SiriusXM’s This Life of Mine with James Corden. The Hip-Hop mogul explained why his longtime collaborator should be considered the GOAT MC while reflecting on how they first connected.

“His writing and his delivery and his imagination is off the charts and I don’t think anyone would disagree with that,” Dr. Dre told Corden. “I think he’s the best MC ever. Point blank, period. Of course, there are going to be arguments about that because he’s a white guy. I don’t think anyone that’s rapping can touch Eminem on that microphone.”

Benzino complained about Dr. Dre’s opinion after trading disses with Eminem earlier this year. Eminem took shots at Benzino on the song “Doomsday Pt. 2,” which appeared on Lyrical Lemonade’s All Is Yellow compilation. Benzino responded by dropping two diss tracks: “Vulturius” and “Rap Elvis.” Benzino claimed he would go down in history as “the Eminem slayer.”

“I already killed him with ‘Rap Elvis,’” he said in February. “Where’s he at? Where’s the response? I want to battle him face-to-face. I think he’s overrated. I think he sucks as a rapper. And it’s f### anybody that’s with him. I bombed on him. I’m gonna continue to bomb on him. I’m gonna continue to expose him. At the end of the day, people are waking up to his b#######.”

Benzino and Eminem’s beef started in the early 2000s. Their bad blood seemed to calm down over the years before it bubbled up again in 2024.

Kanye West Accuses Ice Spice’s Team Of Sabotaging Their Collaboration

Kanye West claimed Ice Spice’s team blocked him from releasing a verse she recorded for his song “New Body.” Ye called out her team via Instagram Stories.

“ICE SPICE SENT A VERSE IN FOR NEW BODY,” he wrote. “NOW HER TEAM IS SAYING WE CAN’T USE IT.”

Fans learned about the potential collaboration when YesJulz, a former member of Ye’s team, posted private messages from him on social media. Kanye said he asked Ice Spice and Doja Cat to record verses for “New Body” in a text sent to YesJulz in December 2023.

“Sent New body to Ice Spice & Doja,” he wrote. “Let’s see who sounds best.”

Kanye’s “New Body” was created for his shelved album Yandhi, which was supposed to drop in 2018. Ty Dolla $ign and Nicki Minaj were featured on the track.

“New Body” appeared on the original tracklist for Kanye and Ty Dolla $ign’s album Vultures 1, but the song was missing when the project dropped in February. Nicki refused to let Ye use her verse.

“Now regarding Kanye, that train has left the station, OK?” she said in December 2023. “No disrespect in any way, I just put out a brand new album. Now why would I put out a song that has been out for three years? Come on guys.”

The behind-the-scenes drama involving Ice Spice emerged amid Ye’s dispute with YesJulz. Kanye planned to sue YesJulz, whose real name is Julieanna Goddard, for violating her NDA after she was fired from his team.

“Goddard has repeatedly, intentionally and grossly violated the terms of her Non-Disclosure Agreement with Claimants, including publicly disclosing corporate sales figures, social media strategies, text messages with Ye and management, release plans for the Vultures album and product designs before release,” Ye’s lawyers wrote. “To say Goddard suffers from a lack of impulse control would be to excuse her from responsibility for behavior that is hurtful, hateful and destructive.”

YesJulz dared Kanye to sue her. He sought $8 million in damages.

EXCLUSIVE: AEG Continues $5M Legal Battle With Young Thug Despite His Ongoing RICO Trial

The legal tussle between entertainment giant AEG and acclaimed Hip-Hop artist Young Thug is starting to intensify.

Despite ongoing criminal proceedings that have seen the artist behind bars without bond since the beginning of his state RICO charges trial, AEG is pressing ahead with a $5 million lawsuit for alleged breach of contract.

Young Thug has been in custody since May 2022 facing state RICO charges. His trial in Fulton County Superior Court, Georgia, commenced with jury selection on January 4, 2023.

The RICO trial has thrown a wrench into the scheduling of the civil lawsuit proceedings between AEG and Young Thug.

The rapper’s unavailability has stalled essential discovery processes, including depositions, and made it challenging for both AEG and Young Thug’s defense to adequately prepare their cases.

With over 400 witnesses expected to be called in Young Thug’s criminal trial and hundreds more on the official witness list, the trial’s duration could extend into 2025.

This timeline has forced AEG and Young Thug to seek postponements of the pretrial and trial dates, now totaling two years of delays.

The dispute centers around a 2017 agreement in which AEG provided YSL with a $5,250,000 loan.

AEG alleges that YSL and Young Thug have breached the terms of a 2017 artist agreement and a related financial note, resulting in substantial unpaid debts.

Under the terms of this agreement, AEG also acquired the exclusive rights to promote live concert performances by Young Thug globally for a stated term.

In return, YSL and Young Thug were to repay the principal sum plus accrued interest and direct a portion of concert revenues — promoted by third-party promoters — to AEG.

However, AEG contends that YSL has failed to fulfill these obligations, leaving a principal balance of $5,000,000 outstanding after accounting for a $250,000 credit, along with accrued interest and $363,700 in unpaid revenue shares from third-party promoted concerts.

AEG claims that, upon their opting out of the artist agreement in August 2019, it became evident that Young Thug and YSL had not only failed to repay the borrowed funds but also lacked the net worth to meet their obligations under the agreement from the outset.

AEG alleges that Young Thug and YSL misrepresented their financial capacities at the time of the agreement and accuses them of not intending to honor their repayment and concert promotion commitments.

Adding a layer to the conflict, AEG asserts it has security interests in certain YSL and Young Thug’s assets, including trademarks and copyrights, pledged as collateral under the 2017 agreements.

Despite AEG’s attempts to recover the owed amounts through legal channels, including a demand for the assembly of all pledged collateral and pertinent documents, YSL and Young Thug have yet to satisfy these demands.

Both parties have pointed out the “good cause and extraordinary circumstances” necessitating the continuance of the civil trial dates, emphasizing that Young Thug’s ongoing legal battles have made it impractical to proceed as originally scheduled.

They anticipate requiring at least six months after the criminal trial to complete discovery, including taking Young Thug’s deposition and preparing for motion filings.

A judge is expected to issue trial dates shortly.

Beyoncé Confronts Criticism Over Making Country Album “Cowboy Carter”

Beyoncé stunned critics when she announced she was releasing a country album. The big reveal followed Super Bowl LVIII in February, when she dropped the lead single, “TEXAS HOLD ‘EM,” along with “16 CARRIAGES.” As the release date inches closer, the megastar singer is opening up about the challenges she faced both before and during the making of Cowboy Carter. ‘

On Tuesday (March 19), Beyoncé shared a photo of the cover art with her 319 million Instagram followers and addressed becoming the first Black woman to top the Hot Country Songs chart.

“Today marks the 10-day countdown until the release of act ii,” she wrote in the caption. “Thank you from the bottom of my heart to all of the supporters of TEXAS HOLD ‘EM and 16 CARRIAGES. I feel honored to be the first Black woman with the number one single on the Hot Country Songs chart. That would not have happened without the outpouring of support from each and every one of you. My hope is that years from now, the mention of an artist’s race, as it relates to releasing genres of music, will be irrelevant.”

Beyoncé also talked about feeling ostracized from the country community and how that only fueled her determination to bring her vision to fruition.

“This album has been over five years in the making. It was born out of an experience that I had years ago where I did not feel welcomed and it was very clear that I wasn’t. But, because of that experience, I did a deeper dive into the history of Country music and studied our rich musical archive.

“It feels good to see how music can unite so many people around the world, while also amplifying the voices of some of the people who have dedicated so much of their lives educating on our musical history. The criticisms I faced when I first entered this genre forced me to propel past the limitations that were put on me. act ii is a result of challenging myself, and taking my time to bend and blend genres together to create this body of work.”

Finally, Beyoncé revealed there are going to be a “few surprises” on the album along with some “brilliant artists.” She concluded, “I hope that you can hear my heart and soul, and all the love and passion that I poured into every detail and every sound. I focused on this album as a continuation of RENAISSANCE…I hope this music is an experience, creating another journey where you can close your eyes, start from the beginning and never stop. This ain’t a Country album. This is a “Beyoncé” album. This is act ii COWBOY CARTER, and I am proud to share it with y’all!”

Check out “TEXAS HOLD ‘EM” below. The song is currently in the Top 10 at Spotify Global and No. 16 on the Spotify US chart.

NLE Choppa’s Rolling Loud Performance Has Fans Questioning His Sexuality

NLE Choppa scored a Top 40 hit record with his “S### Me Out” single. However, another upcoming sex-themed song from the Warner Record-signed artist has caused some raised eyebrows.

“If I was a bad b####, I’d want to f### me too,” rapped Choppa while on stage at Rolling Loud California on Sunday (March 17). Footage of the Memphis native’s performance spread across the internet.

A clip of NLE Choppa’s Rolling Loud California set collected over 2 million views on the X (formerly Twitter) platform. He quote-tweeted that post and added, “S### me out 2, [ON THE WAY] AFTER RAMADAN.”

While the 21-year-old rap star used the viral tweet to promote his forthcoming record, other people reacted to the snippet by questioning his sexuality. Many of the replies to the post suggested that NLE Choppa came out as part of the LGBTQ community.

“I understand the concept but bro this song kinda sus,” one person wrote. Another X account posted, “This a bisexual n#### song.” In addition, someone tweeted, “The crowd was not moved by this gay s### [face with tears of joy emojis].”

In contrast, NLE Choppa also got backing for the track. A supporter stated, “Don’t let them hate on you b. We love the song and the performance. Continue to do your thing. Song is fire!” Another X user shared, “Actually, I’d like this to drop now. Thanks.”

NLE Choppa has identified as heterosexual in the past. In 2022, he tweeted, “First and foremost I love myself and I’m comfortable enough in my skin to show the beauty God blessed me with. Secondly, I LOVE all so I don’t mind attracting both genders, but most importantly my sexual preference is women. Please stop trying to make me something I am not.”

YesJulz Vows To Fight “Misogynist Yes Men” In $8 Million Battle Against Ye

YesJulz has taken a defiant stance against threats of an $8 million lawsuit by Ye, the artist formerly known as Kanye West.

The controversy traces back to YesJulz’s dismissal from Ye’s team, allegedly due to her violating a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) by engaging with Ye’s fanbase online.

Their dispute centers around YesJulz’s involvement in the roll-out of Ye’s new album, “
Vultures 1, which she helped market and promote.

“One thing I won’t do is sit here and let a group of dick riding, misogynist yes men go out of their way to slander my name in an attempt to ruin everything I have worked my ass off to build from scratch over the past decade,” YesJulz retorted, showing no signs of backing down in the face of legal threats.

YesJulz’s work included documenting Ye’s album roll-out endeavors, such as the much-discussed Las Vegas listening party, which she broadcasted on Instagram Live.

However, her contentious NDA violation allegedly occurred during a Twitter Spaces conversation, where she sought to entice fans into collaboratively developing a “Yeezy Universe” app, an idea that had no backing or approval from Ye or his team.

The situation escalated when Ye shared a letter online from Milo Yiannopoulos, Yeezy’s chief of staff, announcing YesJulz’s termination for NDA breach.

YesJulz responded with a terse message: “F### an NDA. Sue me.”

Ye’s team has since issued a statement indicating they were prepared to sue for damages “in excess of $8 million.”

Despite the looming legal battle, YesJulz remained unyielding, and asserted her innocence and determination to fight back. She also dropped more details and videos on her Snapchat account.

“The audacity for a company ran by someone who posts screen shots to over 20 million people at his leisure, without consent, to attempt to intimidate a former team member with a ridiculous lawsuit with basis claims of over $7million in incurred fees for breaking a doc that was never signed is truly laughable,” she snapped earlier this morning.

“This is my life, my livelihood, how I take care of my entire family. I will never back down. I never signed that NDA. & I have proof,” she claimed, suggesting that the dispute may have more layers than initially apparent.

Boosie Badazz Takes Issue With Kanye West Getting Praise After Disrespecting Black People

Boosie Badazz is not letting up on his public criticism of Kanye West. The Baton Rouge-bred rapper went on Instagram Live to share his opinion on Ye still receiving praise despite his divisive remarks about African-Americans.

“You know how many rappers I raised out there who don’t give me my flowers. Everybody’s quiet,” Badazz stated. “They don’t want to be on my side and be looked at like you’re supporting Boosie.”

The “Wipe Me Down” hitmaker also added, “But they’ll give Kanye his flowers, people like that… the same motherf###er who be talking about Black people. The world’s f###ed up.”

Kanye West has a long history of making offensive comments. The Chicago native infamously suggested that enslaved Africans chose to live under the American chattel slavery system.

Additionally, West pushed an unconfirmed conspiracy theory that George Floyd died from a drug overdose and not from being murdered by former Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin. West also downplayed Rosa Parks’s contribution to the Civil Rights Movement. His connection to white nationalist Nick Fuentes concerned critics as well.

Previously, Boosie Badazz took offense to Kanye West’s inflammatory comments about George Floyd and Rosa Parks. He also condemned West for promoting “White Lives Matter” merchandise alongside right-wing commentator Candace Owens.

“@kanyewest THE HATRED YOU HAVE FOR BLACKS IS SAD. [AND] they STILL SUPPORT YOUR COON A##. First Slavery was a choice, white lives matter, now George Floyd etc,” Boosie tweeted in 2022.

Boosie Badazz continued, “[AND] IT’S SAD THAT BLACKS WITH A PLATFORM AIN’T TELLING U S### for ATTACKING OUR RACE LIKE U DO #WELLIAM U SICK FRFR.”

While Boosie Badazz has been one of Kanye West’s most outspoken criticizers, the 41-year-old southerner has faced accusations of having prejudiced views about the LGBTQ community. Boosie’s takes on Dwyane Wade’s transgender daughter and openly gay recording artist Lil Nas X led to significant backlash.

Fans Blast Hot 97’s Summer Jam 2024 Lineup Featuring Doja Cat, Offset & Sexyy Red

Summer Jam 2024 takes place on June 2 at New York’s USB Arena. Hot 97 booked rap acts from around the country for the upcoming show, but fans online slammed some of the artists set to appear.

California’s Doja Cat, Georgia’s Offset and Missouri’s Sexyy Red top the bill this year. Hot 97 also named legendary East Coast MCs Method Man and Redman as performers.

Many Instagram users expressed their disappointment with the rappers scheduled to appear at Summer Jam 2024. The NYC radio station’s comment section was filled with negative reactions.

“This is bad lmfao. Summer Jam gets worse every year,” one person wrote on Instagram. Another person commented, “This has to be on another stage and not the main one.”

In addition, someone else typed, “Yall really put Red and Meth under [Sexyy Redd] and everyone else above her? [man facepalming emoji]… Show just getting worse and worse each year.”

Bronx native Cardi B was the headliner for last year’s edition of Hot 97’s yearly musical showcase. Other New York natives, such as Ice Spice, Fivio Foreign and French Montana, made the 2023 lineup as well.

Summer Jam became one of the premier rap festivals in the country thanks to numerous memorable moments over the last 30 years. The concert moved from New Jersey’s Metlife Stadium to the smaller-capacity UBS Arena in 2023.

Cardi B Addresses Claims She’s Worth $80M

Cardi B says she has made “a lot of money” during her time in the music industry and believes she earned more than the $80 million estimates floating about online.

She addressed claims about her wealth in a recent interview with 360 With Speedy. Host Speedy Morman asked whether the estimates were accurate.

“Uh… Jesus Christ,” she replied after he asked if she was worth $80 million. “I made a lot of money,” she said before adding, “I feel like I actually passed almost doing $80 million.”

According to Cardi, while she’s amassed a substantial personal fortune, she also has a lot of expenses.

“But also, I got a lot, a lot of bills. I’m taking care of,” she added. “I’m helping a lot, and I help a lot of my friends and I help a lot of my family and everything.”

However, the “Like What” rapper said she sometimes feels like people are taking advantage of her. “Because it’s like, ‘Alright, if you’re so broke, if you’re really going through some s###, I just seen you outside.’ I remember when I was broke, I was never outside,” she added.

Cardi B recently shared her thoughts on couples sharing expenses, stating her belief that couples should split bills if they want to build their future together. However, she faced backlash with her comments dividing the sexes.

“The men started praising me and the women started attacking me,” she said earlier this week.

Cardi also received criticism from fans for “cursing me out” for going 50/50 with husband Offset, amid cheating allegations and their ongoing separation.

According to Cardi, while they have jointly invested in property, they don’t go halves on everything. “I want to make this very f###### clear. Me and Offset, we don’t go 50/50,” she added.

Former Bad Boy Artist E.Ness Calls Diddy Allegations “A Smear Campaign”

Sean “Diddy” Combs has faced multiple sexual misconduct lawsuits which include allegations of rape. The Bad Boy Entertainment founder has denied the accusations. A former artist on the embattled executive’s label backed him up with an unsubstantiated conspiracy theory.

E.Ness appeared on the Diddy-led Making the Band 2 reality show in 2002. That MTV series led to the formation of the Bad Boy rap group known as Da Band.

The Directed BY CEO Nafees YouTube channel recently published an interview with E.Ness. Much of the conversation with the Philadelphia-bred MC focused on Diddy’s ongoing legal troubles.

“It’s a smear campaign,” E.Ness alleged. “That’s what’s happening with Puff. It’s a smear campaign. And what they usually do is they go to your personal habits.”

He continued, “They start attacking your personal habits, your girlfriends, your exes. Then they try to find something to attack you through those vessels.”

Casandra “Cassie” Ventura filed the most high-profile rape and abuse lawsuit against her ex-boyfriend, Diddy. The two sides quickly settled out of court for an undisclosed amount.

E.Ness went on to say the so-called “classic rollout” against Diddy is similar to what happened to other famous accused sexual abusers like Bill Cosby, Mike Tyson, Michael Jackson and R. Kelly.

Method Man’s Daughter Chey Performs With Trina Amid Rap Career Launch

Method Man’s daughter Chey plans on “taking over” after performing with Trina following the recent launch of her rap career.

Cheyenne Smith, who goes by the name Chey, was Trina’s guest at 97.9 WJLB’s TakeOver 5 concert at Detroit’s Fox Theatre over the weekend. She performed her drill-inspired single “Hair and Nails,” in front of a packed crowd.

“I always like to show love to people that I feel like is the next inspiration,” Trina said, introducing Chey to the stage. She was in good company, performing on the bill alongside Gucci Mane, Rick Ross, Plies and Juvenile, in addition to Trina.

Chey took to Instagram with a montage of clips from her night, including a snippet of Trina backstage complimenting her new single.

I appreciate you and respect you so much for everything you do for upcoming artists!!! I PERFORMED FOR A SOLD OUT SHOW IN DETROIT!!!!!!!”

She addd, “I still can’t believe it. I’m so grateful.”

Despite her famous father’s connections, Chey insists she will put in the work and not rely on the Method Man family name.

“At the end of the day, you gotta put in the work,” she said in a January interview with Shaoliiin Entertainment. “He could do that but he rather see me work for it and really push but he’s gonna support one thousand gajillion trillion percent. But he wants to see the work too.”

Last month, Chey dropped her second single of the year, “Boujee & Ghetto.” Check out the video below.

50 Cent Plans TV Show About Alleged Liquor Company Embezzlement Scheme: “It’s Going To Get Worse”

50 Cent is warning the liquor company he accused of embezzlement that the situation is about to get worse for the brand.

In a recent lawsuit filed with the New York State Supreme Court, the G-unit founder accused Beam Suntory of being complicit in a multi-million dollar kickback scheme that almost cost him his Sire Spirits company.

“Now they’re at a point where they’re going to see, everybody’s going to see. This noise affects them, they get really uncomfortable,” Fiddy told FOX 5 NY. “People are going to start looking at it, and it’s going to be a mess for them.”

Former club king Michael “Lord Michael” Caruso will be the first defendant deposed in the case, the outlet reports f.

Sire Spirits attorney Craig W##### claims Beam Suntory and Caurso conspired “to get Sire Spirits to buy it’s champagne and it’s cognac from parties that were given illicit and hidden commissions to them.”

In a statement to AllHipHop, Beam Suntory said: “The claims brought by Mr. Jackson and Sire Spirits against Beam Suntory are false and baseless. They are completely lacking in merit – and, even more importantly, in evidence. Most of the allegations have already been dismissed. We will continue to vigorously defend ourselves and expect to prevail.”

Nonetheless, 50 Cent plans to create a TV show about the alleged scheme and his dealings with Beam Suntory.

“It’s only going to get worse than it is now, when people start paying attention to it,” he said. “I’m going to end up making a whole TV show based on it.”

Sharing the report on Instagram, 50 Cent repeated his claim that Beam Suntory ” are going to pay for this.” The Hip-Hop mogul then added, “These people should have just did the right thing to fix this.”

Loaded Lux Death Rumors False – T-Rex Debunks Fake Report

Loaded Lux is alive and has not passed away, sources close to the battle rap legend confirmed, despite the rumors.

A false report surfaced online late on Monday evening (March 18), claiming the Harlem rapper had been killed. The rumor circulated rapidly, spread by devastated fans praying for the news to be untrue.

The report was so widely shared that Loaded Lux began trending in the Top. 10 on X (formerly Twitter). However, multiple sources close to Lux quickly shut the rumor down.

Chayna Ashley spoke to fellow Dot Mob member and close friend of Loaded Lux, T-Rex, who confirmed the rapper is alive.

“Lux is good! Just confirmed with Rex,” she wrote Monday evening.

A short while later, Rex took to Instagram, stating, “Bro is good we just spoke.”

Instagram/T-Rex

Harlem rapper Un Kasa also received confirmation that Lux is alive and that it was a family member who was killed.

“I just got a call, it’s not Loaded Lux,” he stated on GullyTv

Loaded Lux recently made headlines after getting a callout from Chad Ochocinco Jonhson. The pair had a live faceoff on Nightcap, with Lux hitting the former Bengals wide receiver with a fresh freestyle.

Earlier this month, Ultimate Rap League announced Lux will be back on the platform to face 2022 Champion of the Year Rum Nitty.

Music Exec John Kwatakye-Atiko Says Artist Development is a non-negotiable

“We live in an era obsessed with instant fame and streaming stats,” says John Kwatakye-Atiko (JKA), who has worked with both independent and major recording artists. “But I want to change that.” With his focus on artist development through his company, Popular Demand Entertainment, JKA aims to reshape an industry that often favors fleeting trends over long-term growth. Artists like Chantae Vetrice and songwriter Lyrix The Writer are crafting a new generation of music that defies cookie-cutter trends.

For decades now, major record labels have relentlessly pursued the next viral sensation, often neglecting to nurture the raw talent right under their noses. “This chase for the quick hit,” JKA observes, “leads to one-hit wonders and fizzled-out careers. It’s not a sustainable model.”

JKA understands that true success lies in longevity. “Banking on a single viral moment isn’t enough, as shown by the poor merch and ticket sales that often follow those flashes of fame,” he notes.

Streaming, while empowering for artists in many ways, has further complicated matters. “It’s potential, not guaranteed success,” JKA stresses, “Labels haven’t fully grasped that, leading to bad investments and the layoffs we’ve seen recently from giants like Sony, Warner, and Universal are a result of these bad investments.”

DOPE Music Distribution, created by Kwatakye-Atiko and Mathew “Vine” Burke. “It’s more than just dropping songs online,” JKA explains, “DOPE is about giving artists the knowledge to survive in this industry.”

The platform’s core is artist development. Educational resources, mentorship, and guidance empower artists to control their careers. “We’re not chasing trends,” JKA emphasizes, “DOPE invests in talent over time, that’s how you create lasting impact.”

JKA’s vision signals a major shift. By championing artist development over short-sighted strategies, he’s creating a fairer, more sustainable music ecosystem. He’s not just helping individual artists – he’s attempting to reshape what success means in the industry as a whole.

Billy Dee Williams Kinda Shades Donald Glover: “There Is Only One Lando Calrissian”

Billy Dee Williams, the original actor behind the iconic “Star Wars” character Lando Calrissian, has made his feelings clear about the role and its legacy, stressing that in his eyes, “there is only one Lando Calrissian.”

The statement comes amid the development of a new “Lando” movie by Donald Glover, who portrayed a younger version of the character in the 2018 film “Solo: A Star Wars Story.”

Williams first took on the role of Lando in the 1980 film “The Empire Strikes Back,” earning acclaim for his charismatic and complex portrayal of the Cloud City administrator-turned-rebel hero.

He reprised his role in 1983’s “Return of the Jedi” and made a nostalgic return in 2019’s “The Rise of Skywalker.”

Despite the character being played by Donald Glover in the recent prequel, Williams told Radio Times magazine that he views his own portrayal as definitive, citing the creation and development of Lando’s on-screen persona as his handiwork.

During a meeting with Donald Glover about the character, Williams expressed support for the younger actor’s talent but reiterated his view that his Lando is unparalleled.

“I had a nice little lunch with him. He’s a delightful young man. Extremely talented. But I don’t see him… I mean, when it comes to Lando Calrissian there’s only one Lando Calrissian. I created that character,” Williams stated.

Despite the firm stance on his unique connection to Lando, Williams offered Glover advice to “be charming” in the role, recognizing the need for the character to evolve with the times and the actor’s interpretation.

He acknowledged Glover’s responsibility to bring Lando into the 21st century, having covered the 20th century himself.

Williams also humorously hinted at the possibility of returning to the role himself, given the right incentive: “Pay me a lot of money and I’ll sell my soul.”

The news of Glover’s Lando evolving from a limited Disney+ series to a full-fledged movie project surfaced in July of the previous year, marking another chapter in the storied legacy of the “Star Wars” universe.
