Michigan Police Confirm Missing Rappers & Friend Killed By Multiple Gun Shot Wounds

The bodies of three men, two of whom were rappers, were discovered frozen in an abandoned Highland Park apartment building. The cause of death seems to be from multiple gunshots and police believe their executions were not random.

According to Atlanta Black Star, rappers Armani “Marley Whoop” Kelly, 38, and Dante “B12” Wicker, 31, along with friend Montoya Givens, 31, had been missing for nearly two weeks, after their set at a popular club, Lounge 31, was canceled.

AllHipHop reported the men were missing and the frantic attempts to find them.

On February 2, the Warren Police confirmed they’d located Kelly’s 2017 Chevrolet Equinox. They found a 15-year-old boy with it and took him into custody.

Warren Police Commissioner William Dwyer said his office brought the teen “into the Warren police headquarters” but didn’t share if he was arrested, particularly since “there was no blood or anything of a nature that would lead us to believe they were either transported or murdered in that particular vehicle.”

Later, Michigan State Police posted on Twitter, “Members of the Homicide Task Force, Metro South Post, and the MSP Forensic lab are currently at an abandoned apartment complex on the corner of McNichols and Log Cabin in Highland Park on a death investigation.”

Officials stated on Tuesday (February 7), “Members of the homicide task force are continuing to make progress on the investigation of the homicide of three men in Highland Park. It has been determined that the cause of death for each of the men was multiple gunshot wounds.”

The post concluded: “The investigation also has revealed that this was not a random incident. The investigation is continuing and detectives are making progress, and we believe we may have determined a motive. Once more information is developed, we will continue to update here.”

Fans Mourn ‘Respect Life’ Star Boom P’s Passing

Reports say the rapper, screenwriter, and star of the hit YouTube series “Respect Life,” Boom Pacino aka Boom P has transitioned. The Brooklyn influencer became a cult sensation seven years ago.

According to The U.S. Sun, there is a suspicion that the cause of death was a “drug overdose.”

Boom P had suffered from mental health issues over the last few years which not only stopped him from appearing on the show but also threw a monkey wrench in the consistent filming of the show.

Cinematic Cartel took to Facebook to confirm his death offering a heartfelt tribute. He wrote, “Thank you for permitting me to be featured on your gift; you only gave me advice on filming a web series titled fly high.”

JAY-Z Talks Grammys Missing The Moment By Snubbing His ‘4:44’ Album

“Tell the Grammy’s f### that 0-for-8 s###,” rapped Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter on “Apeshit” off The Carters’ Everything Is Love album. That line was a response to the Recording Academy snubbing the Brooklyn-bred emcee for every nomination in 2018.

At the time, Jay-Z was coming off the release of his chart-topping thirteenth studio LP 4:44. That project earned the billionaire rapper the most Grammy nominations that year. In particular, he scored nods for Best Rap Album and Album Of The Year.

Jay-Z is now reflecting on Grammy Night 2018. During an interview with the Tidal streaming service, the Roc Nation founder addressed whether going winless at the Grammys five years ago left a lasting impression on him.

“In that moment, I was like, ‘They missed the opportunity,’ because people emulate success. In that moment, that album, 4:44, was a moment for us to say, ‘Hip Hop is viewed as a young man’s sport. Now here is this album that could take us into the next sphere.’ I feel like they missed the moment,” said Jay-Z.

He added, “I didn’t feel bad for myself, because I know it’s the Grammys: I probably won some joints I shouldn’t have won and I probably lost some joints I should’ve won. That’s the way it goes, so I actually had a party. I had a great time, staying out until 6 in the morning.”

4:44 lost the Best Rap Album award to Kendrick Lamar’s Pulitzer Prize-winning Damn. That year’s Album Of The Year trophy went to 24K Magic by Bruno Mars. Jay-Z also lost in the Record Of The Year, Song Of The Year, Best Music Video, and three other rap categories.

Despite going winless in 2018, Shawn Carter is still tied with Kanye West for the most Grammy wins by a Hip Hop artist (24). The Tidal co-owner also holds the record for most Grammy nominations (88) alongside his wife/collaborator Beyoncé.

The 65th Annual Grammy Awards took place on February 5 in Los Angeles. Beyoncé left the ceremony as the most awarded act in Grammy history after winning her 32nd golden gramophone. Jay-Z entered the evening with five nominations but left with zero victories.

Lil Uzi Vert Addresses Debate Over “Just Wanna Rock” Replacing “Dreams And Nightmares”

At the moment, Lil Uzi Vert has the #10 song in the country. “Just Wanna Rock” entered the Billboard Hot 100’s Top 10 region this week as a debate over the track played out on social media.

Lil Uzi Vert’s Generation Now label head DJ Drama sparked discussions about “Just Wanna Rock” by comparing the record to Meek Mill’s classic “Dreams and Nightmares” from 2012.

“I think it’s fair to say that ‘I Just Wanna Rock’ has replaced – with all due respect – ‘Dreams and Nightmares’ as the new anthem of Philadelphia, as the new anthem of the Philadelphia Eagles this year,” said DJ Drama.

The Philadelphia Eagles will compete against the Kansas City Chiefs at Super Bowl LVII on February 12. DJ Drama also stated, “I’m looking forward to hearing [‘Just Wanna Rock’] many, many times [during] Super Bowl weekend.”

Lil Uzi Vert Hopes “Just Wanna Rock” Lasts The Test Of Time

Lil Uzi Vert has now weighed in on the “Just Wanna Rock” versus “Dreams and Nightmares” conversation. According to the 27-year-old Philadelphia native, Meek Mill’s album opener is still the unofficial psalm of Philly.

“I don’t think so,” Uzi told Revolt on the 2023 Grammy Awards red carpet when asked about “Just Wanna Rock” replacing “Dreams and Nightmares” by Meek. “That song’s been around for a very long time, and that song is still hitting exactly the same way. I’m just gonna have to see, in a couple of years, or a decade or whatever.”

The Eternal Atake album creator added, “[Meek is] a big homie from Philly, and that’s one of my big homies. So I just feed off the energy that he gives, actually, to be able to even produce or put out that type of music. So like, hopefully, like s###. Hopefully, he would hope that for me too. Not yet though it’s too early to tell.”

Lil Uzi Vert took part in the well-received “50 Years of Hip Hop” performance at the 65th Annual Grammy Awards on Sunday. That star-studded set also included other rap acts such as Run-DMC, LL Cool J, Salt-N-Pepa, Queen Latifah, Method Man, Busta Rhymes, Missy Elliott, Lil Baby, and GloRilla.

Janelle Monáe Reacts To Social Media Trolling Her Fashion Choices

Janelle Monáe is best known for being an award-winning musician and actress. The Kansas City-born performer also makes waves in the fashion world.

However, some people began making fun of Monáe’s history of wearing black-and-white suits. One user even compared her to the Rich Uncle Pennybags mascot from the Monopoly board game.

“Janelle Monáe finally showing off how fine she is instead of dressing like the Monopoly Man,” posted the @gldnraes Twitter account. That tweet amassed over 54,000 likes on the platform.

Before @gldnraes’s tweet crossed the 27,000 likes mark, Janelle Monáe quote-tweeted the post and added, “Ohh y’all n##### liked this 26.8k times?? No new music just for this. 😘.”

As the likes on @gldnraes’s tweet continued to grow, Monáe returned to Twitter to add, “35.7k likes?? No new tour. Hope it was worth it beloved. 😘” She then responded with a longer message for the general public.

“‘I miss you in the [black] and white suits!’ ‘Take them suits off we tired of that look!’ ‘You look like the monopoly man.’ ‘Why you showing so much skin? Cover back up!’ ‘Your t###### are pretty.’ ‘Why are you showing YOUR t######? You want attention!’ GET THE F### OFF MY A#####,” expressed Janelle Monáe

It later seemed clear Monáe did not take any of the trolling too seriously. One of her responses to @gldnraes included the Atlantic recording artist tweeting, “Monopoly man?? 😭You’re pretty and funny. 😘.”

Janelle Monáe’s discography includes the studio albums The ArchAndroid, The Electric Lady, and Dirty Computer. Additionally, the former protégé of Sean “Diddy” Combs recently received rave reviews for her acting performance in 2022’s Glass Onion: A Knives Out Mystery.

Snoop Dogg’s 16 Grammy Nominations Include A Best Reggae Album Nod

According to the official tally, Snoop Dogg scored 16 Grammy nominations throughout his career. His most recent nomination (Album of the Year) came from his contribution to Kendrick Lamar’s 2015 studio LP To Pimp A Butterfly.

Snoop earned his first Grammy nod in 1994 when Dr. Dre’s “Nuthin’ but a ‘G’ Thang” made it into the Best Rap Performance by a Duo or Group category. He has been nominated for Best Rap Song four times. Plus, his Reincarnated project picked up a Best Reggae Album nom.

The 65th Annual Grammy Awards took place on February 5 in Snoop Dogg’s hometown of Los Angeles. R&B/Pop megastar Beyoncé and Gospel collective Maverick City Music won the most trophies of the night with four each.

Kendrick Lamar won three Grammys on Sunday, including Best Rap Album for Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers. With 17 victories, the Compton native sits in third place on the all-time Hip Hop Grammy winners list behind Jay-Z and Kanye West.

DJ Khaled Meets His “Favorite” Artist, Tems: “I’m Your Biggest Fan”

DJ Khaled met his “favourite” artist during this weekend’s Grammy Awards ceremony, coming face-to-face with Nigerian singer, songwriter, and producer Tems.

The super-producer performed his hit song “God Did” at the event on Sunday (Feb. 5), Lil Wayne, Rick Ross, John Legend, and Fridayy alongside Jay-Z.

Despite performing with the greats, Khaled gushed over the rising-star songstress during their encounter on the red carpet.

“Yo, I’m your biggest fan,” DJ Khaled told Tems as he greeted her. “I don’t know if you know it,” he added before assuring her, “no, really,” telling the singer he just spent “20 minutes straight” talking about her during an interview.

DJ Khaled continued telling Tems, “I love you,” before asking for a hug. “I just met Tems,” he announced to Billboard. “She my favourite. She’s amazing.”

Tems received her first golden gramophone on Sunday, winning the Best Rap/Sung Collaboration Grammy for her contribution to Future’s#### single “Wait For U’ which also features Drake.

DJ Khaled isn’t the only fan Tems has among the Hip-Hop giants. As reported by AllHopHop.com, Fat Joe raved about her breakthrough hit single, “Free Mind.”

“It’s the biggest in the game,” he stated during an Instagram Live 2022 year-end recap last December. “I played this because to me, this is the song of the year.”

Meanwhile, last month Tems took to Instagram to share a Happy New Year message from Snoop Dogg. However, the West Coast legend extended more than season’s greetings. He also requested to collaborate with the “Crazy Tings” hitmaker.

“So Tems, when we gon’ make a record?” Snoop asked. “You know I’m a fan. Let’s make a f###### hit record, girl. You be having my whole family dancing to your s###. I need one with you, and you can post that.”

JAY-Z Felt Sure Beyoncé Would Win Album Of The Year At The 2023 Grammy Awards

Before Beyoncé missed out on Album of the Year at the Grammys, Jay-Z said his wife’s Renaissance LP “has to” win the award.

During an interview with TIDAL’s Elliott Wilson, Hov explained that Bey deserved to finally win the coveted category on her fourth nomination because of the impact of Renaissance.

“Look what it’s done to the culture,” he said, referring to Beyoncé’s latest offering. “Look how the energy of the world moved. They play her whole album in the club. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen that. The whole entire joint — like, everything?! Every remix is amazing. Everyone’s inspired. It has inspired the world. Every remix is better than the other one.”

Jay-Z Says Renaissance “Has To Be Album Of The Year”

He continued: “It’s inspiring creativity. You know how The Black Album had The Grey Album [Danger Mouse’s 2004 mashup project]? And the one with Radiohead? It was called Jaydiohead [Minty Fresh Beats’ 2009 mashup]. When it just inspires creativity, that’s an album. That has to be Album of the Year. It has to be.”

Nonetheless, during Sunday’s show (Feb. 5), the Recording Academy crowned Harry Styles’ Harry’s House album of the Year. Some Beyoncé fans in the audience rudely heckled the British singer during his acceptance speech.

However, Jay-Z said despite growing up “idolizing” the Grammys, he won’t allow himself to become emotionally invested in winning.

“I remove myself from the process and hope they just get it right,” he explained to Wilson. “It got to the point where I was like, it’s just a marketing thing. You go, you got an album out and it could help the sales go up. It got to that point, but deep down … Again, we grew up idolizing this. It was like one of the pillars for us. It was like, “We want to go Gold.” Yeah, I’ve been in it that long. Haaaaa!”

While Beyoncé lost out on best album, she did scoop four other awards, taking her Grammy career total to 32. Her latest haul means Bey is the most decorated artist in Grammy history

Video Surfaces Of Cardi B Yelling Backstage At Grammys Amid Alleged Offset & Quavo Fight

A video is circulating online of an upset Cardi B shouting at two people backstage at the Grammys amid a report that Offset and Quavo got into a physical fight during Sunday’s ceremony.

iPhone footage obtained by ET shows the moment the NYC hitmaker got heated, although the targets of her rage were not caught on camera.

“Both of y’all wrong,” Cardi B yelled. “This is not right,” she can be heard saying on the video. “No b#####, shut the f### up cuz you shouldn’t have been talking.” Check out the video below.

According to TMZ, Offset and Quavo “got into a physical fight and had to be pulled apart” backstage at the Grammys on Sunday (Feb. 5).

The outlet reports the Migos members came to blows over the “In Memoriam” segment at the Grammys. The altercation allegedly took place just before Quavo performed his touching tribute to Takeoff. Rumor has it Quavo refused to let Offset participate in the remembrance on-air.

However, following the TMZ report, Offset took to social media to deny the claims

“What tf look like fighting my brother yal n##### is crazy,” he wrote via Twitter on Monday.

Cardi B has remained tight-lipped about the rumored fisticuffs and the footage of her allegedly yelling at Quavo and Takeoff.

When ET caught up with her at the awards show and asked if she was “back here settling some stuff,” Cardi B was quick to brush the question aside. “Settling? The only thing I settled was my outfit, honey,” she replied, referring to her stunning mirrored chainmail gown.

GloRilla had quite the night at the 2023 Grammys, receiving her first nomination and taking to the stage with rap legends and pioneers for the Hip-Hop 50 tribute, but none of those moments topped meeting Beyoncé.

The Memphis native took to social media following the ceremony on Sunday night (Feb. 5) to document the moment she met the history-making songstress.

“I met Beyoncé bye !!!!!!! My life is COMPLETE,” GloRilla wrote alongside a video of the two artists sharing a hug. “I love you so much,” she told Bey in the short video.

Meanwhile, over on Facebook, GloRilla changed her profile pic to one of her wearing a beaming smile while talking to Beyoncé.

“I’m finna get my 15 second conversation with Beyoncé tatted !!!!!!ahhhhhhh I’m still not over it,” she wrote before adding, “I hugged Beyoncé I’m never taking a bath again.”

As if a tattoo to mark their meeting was not enough, Glo said she intends to preserve the wig she wore while meeting the Renaissance creator.

“I’m never getting rid of this wig. This wig is going in a muthafucking trophy case. B####, this is the wig I met Beyoncé in,” GloRilla said Tuesday. “B#### I don’t wanna hear s###, I met Beyoncé!”

GloRilla received her Grammy nomination in the Best Rap Performance category for “F.N.F. (Let’s Go),” her breakout single with Hitkidd. She ultimately lost out to Kendrick Lamar’s “The Heart Part 5” but revealed Queen Bey is one of her dream collabs.

“There’s a lot of people I want to do songs with that I’m a fan of,” she said during an interview with Grammy.com ahead of the awards show. “But my top two that I’m extremely obsessed with is Beyoncé and Chief Keef. I want to work with Drake and Lil Wayne, too.”

Will Smith Dropped Out Of Surprise Appearance At Grammys

Questlove has claimed Will Smith had to drop out of a surprise appearance at the Grammy Awards on Sunday because he was shooting “Bad Boys 4.”

During the show, Questlove and his band The Roots took part in a collaborative performance celebrating 50 years of hip-hop alongside Nelly, Missy Elliott, Queen Latifah, LL Cool J, Busta Rhymes, Run-DMC, and Will’s former performing partner DJ Jazzy Jeff, among others.

The musician revealed to Variety on the red carpet that Will was originally supposed to be involved in the tribute.

“I’ll give the spoiler alert away. Will Smith was part of the festivities tonight, but they started shooting Bad Boys 4 this week,” he explained. “There were a lot of preliminary shots that he had to do, so we had to lose Will.”

He added that getting Will involved was “a shot in the dark” because he is “always shooting movies.”

The performance would have marked the actor’s first awards show appearance since he infamously slapped Chris Rock at the 2022 Oscars after the presenter made a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith.

Chris was presenting the award for Best Documentary, which was awarded to Questlove just after the shocking moment.

Will and his “Bad Boys” co-star Martin Lawrence announced that they were reuniting for a fourth instalment last week. The project is being directed by Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, who helmed 2020’s “Bad Boys for Life.”

Ice-T Explains Why He’ll Never Rap On ‘Law And Order: SVU’

Ice-T avoided rapping on Law and Order: SVU for more than two decades – and he plans to keep it that way.

The Hip-Hop legend talked about portraying SVU’s Odafin “Fin” Tutuola in an interview with TODAY. Ice-T shut down the idea of his character spitting bars when asked if he’d consider rapping on the show.

“I wouldn’t do that,” Ice-T said. “That would be corny because Fin would be able to rap as good as I rap. So, they would have to try to make me rap half-assed, which I wouldn’t do. Now, I got to draw the line somewhere.”

Ice-T wasn’t willing to rap on SVU, but he had no problem coming up with rhymes for his co-star Mariska Hargitay. The gangsta rap pioneer recalled writing for Hargitay in the TODAY interview.

“It’s funny, though, Mariska has me write her raps,” he said. “She wants to rap, like, ‘Write me a rap.’ So yeah, I wrote a rap for Joyful Heart (Hargitay’s foundation). She’s got a little rap I wrote her early. She’s like, ‘It’s time for you to write me a new rap.’ All right, take it easy, Mariska.”

Hargitay will be one of the speakers at Ice-T’s upcoming Hollywood Walk of Fame induction. The rapper/actor is scheduled to receive his star on February 17.

Chris Brown Tries To Say Sorry After Insulting Robert Glasper Over Grammy Loss

Chris Brown attempted to apologize to Robert Glasper for mocking the accomplished musician on social media.

Robert Glasper’s Black Radio 3 won Best R&B Album at the 2023 Grammy Awards, which upset fellow nominee Chris Brown. The controversial singer disparaged the Grammy winner after losing in the R&B category on Sunday (February 5).

“Bro who the f### is this?” Chris Brown wrote in one post. “Y’all playing. Who da f### is this?”

Chris Brown faced online backlash for his temper tantrum. He reached out to Robert Glasper via Instagram and shared a screenshot of the direct message on Monday (February 6).

“Congratulations my brother,” the singer wrote. “I would like to apologize if you took offense to my reaction at the Grammys.. you were not the intended target and I know I came off really rude and mean.”

Chris Brown admitted he wasn’t familiar with Robert Glasper’s work prior to the Grammys outburst. Breezy also complained about the two being in the same category.

“THE ORGANIZATION ISN’T DOING US BLACKS OUR DUE DILIGENCE,” he wrote. “YOU AND I SHOULD never be in the same [category].. two totally different vibes and genres. So from one Black man to another.. CONGRATULATIONS.. HOPE YOU ARE ABLE TO FEED YOUR FAMILY FOR LIFE.”

According to TMZ, Offset and Quavo “got into a physical fight and had to be pulled apart” backstage at the Grammys on Sunday (February 5). Offset dismissed the allegation on Monday (February 6).

“What tf look like fighting my brother yal n##### is crazy,” he wrote via Twitter.

TMZ’s report said the Migos members clashed over the “In Memoriam” segment at the Grammys. Quavo allegedly refused to let Offset participate in a tribute to Takeoff.

Offset responded to TMZ’s story after addressing comments made by Rap-A-Lot Records founder J. Prince in a Million Dollaz Worth of Game interview. The Migos member took issue with J. Prince speaking about Offset’s relationship with Takeoff. Offset told J. Prince and the music executive’s family to stop playing “internet games” regarding Takeoff’s death.

“Y’all n##### speaking on my real brother,” he said. “How dare one of y’all n#### even speak on me and Take’s relationship, n####. I don’t know you n#### from a can of paint, n####. Y’all n##### don’t know how me and my brother rock.”

Takeoff was shot and killed in Houston in November 2022. Police arrested his alleged killer Patrick Xavier Clark a month later.
