In the middle of the night, City Girlz rapper Yung Miami sent the world into a frenzy after posting about “pork chops and corn.” People thought she was pregnant.
Right before 12:00 a.m., on Wednesday night, the sexy Miami chart-topper said she be “wanting” the soul food dish.
Fans instantly conflated her saying “crave it when I’m pregnant” with her previous post about “friend pork chops and corn.”
Craving cornstarch is a form of Pica, which is an eating disorder where one eats nonfood items that normally occurs during pregnancy, especially in women with nutrient deficits. For those not in the south or with southern roots, hearing someone want “friend pork chops and corn” could sound like an odd craving also.
One person took to the thread and said, “Caresha what?” and another flat-out asked, “ARE U PREGAMAT?”
She quickly responded with “No,” shutting down the rumor within 12 hot minutes.

Atlanta native Latto has been in the headlines a lot over the last several weeks. In particular, recent reports laid out the alleged legal consequences for the “Big Energy” hitmaker’s 2021 firearm arrest in Los Angeles.
TMZ asserted Latto had to take part in a year-long diversion program after authorities caught her with a loaded gun at the LAX airport. The outlet also claimed she must complete a gun safety course and perform 120 hours of community service in order to get the charges dismissed.
Latto is pushing back on the stories about the supposed fallout from her run-in with the law. The 24-year-old RCA recording artist took to Twitter to inform her 2.8 million followers not to believe certain published versions of the incident.
“[I don’t know] who put out that false-ass information, ’cause I’m not in no damn program… Also, the situation happened over a year ago and y’all never even knew until I mentioned it in the ‘Boom, Pt. 2’ verse. Nun to ‘brag’ about. Leave me alone,” posted Latto on Wednesday night.
Idk who put out that false ass information cause I’m not in no damn program…also the situation happened over a year ago & y’all never even knew until I mentioned it in the Boom pt 2 verse. Nun to “brag” about. Leave me alone.
Latto Raps About The LAX Incident On “Boom, Pt. 2”
Mello Buckzz recruited Latto for the “Boom, Pt. 2” single. An official music video for the collaboration arrived on YouTube on March 17. The visuals have amassed more than 1 million views on the platform.
“I got locked up in the airport, g######, forgot the gun. In the head, I keep me one. What she said? I get her popped. Caught her down bad on the block. Then her ass got Milly Rocked. This a Glock, not a prop. What’s an opp? B####, stop,” raps Latto on the “Boom, Pt. 2” track.
Earlier this month, Latto got into a back-and-forth with gossip blogger Armon Wiggins. The YouTuber made fun of “Lottery” debuting at No. 83 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. In more positive news connected to Latto, the 777 album creator will perform at the 2023 iHeartRadio Music Awards on March 27.
Migos member Offset seems prepared to let loose a new full-length body of work. Will his late groupmate, Takeoff, appear on the project?
Entertainment trade outlet Variety reports Offset recently previewed a new unreleased song featuring Takeoff. The nearly one-minute snippet is apparently from Set’s March 20th Instagram Story.
Offset reportedly enlisted Quality Control Music recording artist Icewear Vezzo for the teased track as well. Migos released four studio LPs via Quality Control prior to Takeoff’s passing.
Kirsnick “Takeoff” Ball died on November 1, 2022. A gunman killed the 28-year-old Georgia native at the Billiards & Bowling venue in Houston, Texas. Fellow Migos rapper Quavo was present at the scene during the shooting.
Quavo and Takeoff’s Only Built for Infinity Links collaborative project came out in October 2022 via Quality Control/Motown Records. The Last Rocket, Takeoff’s only solo studio album, hit DSPs in November 2018.
Three months after The Last Rocket dropped, Offset released his debut solo album Father of 4. The project hosts the Grammy-nominated single “Clout” featuring Cardi B. In addition, Set partnered with 21 Savage and Metro Boomin for 2017’s Without Warning joint effort.
Once again professional wrestling and Hip Hop culture will collide. DMV-bred emcee Wale and former WWE writer Kazeem Famuyide present WaleMania VII during this year’s WrestleMania weekend.
Guapdad 4000 (aka Guap) will be at WaleMania VII too. The Bay Area-based recording artist released songs such as “Flossin” and “Gucci Pajamas” as well as projects such as Dior Deposits and 1176. He was also one of the standout performers on Dreamville’s Revenge of the Dreamers III compilation.
Of course, WaleMania VII will include appearances by some of the biggest names in pro wrestling. Dr. Britt Baker D.M.D., Ricochet, Saraya, The Embassy, and Guest of Honor Trinity Fatu are among the names promoted for the showcase at LA’s The Novo.
“We’d go to WrestleMania, and it’s a lot of wrestling, which is great. But we’d be asking if it would be dope to have just like a real All-Star game weekend sort of vibe but for professional wrestling,” explained Kazeem Famuyide in an interview with the Wednesday Worldwide podcast.
Last year’s WaleMania VI presented a star-studded party for wrestling fanatics. Hip Hop stars Westside Gunn, Smoke DZA, and Yella Beezy were in attendance. The event also featured several representatives from WWE (like former tag team champions The Street Profits), AEW (like TBS Champion Jade Cargill), and Impact Wrestling (like former X Division Champion Chris Bey).
Ed Sheeran has opened up about the passing of his “best friend” Jamal Edwards, who died last year.
The founder of the trailblazing YouTube channel SB.TV, Jamal Edwards was a pioneer in the U.K. rap scene, helping launch the careers of Sheeran along with countless others. He died on Feb. 20 last year after suffering a cardiac arrhythmia. An autopsy determined Jamal’s sudden death was brought on by cocaine use.
In a wide-ranging interview with Rolling Stone, Ed Sheeran admitted that he was devastated after Jamal Edwards died, causing him to spiral into a deep depression. He also confronted his struggles with drugs and alcohol, vowing to quit the substances.
“I felt like I didn’t want to live anymore,” he said of his friend’s passing. “And I have had that throughout my life.… You’re under the waves drowning. You’re just sort of in this thing. And you can’t get out of it.” Those thoughts seemed “selfish,” he declared, “especially as a father. I feel really embarrassed about it.”
The 32-year-old singer admitted he “used to be a party boy” and tried several drugs in his twenties. He refused to name the substances but acknowledged he was “always a drinker” but didn’t touch “any sort of like, drug, until I was 24.”
While he was “initially “sort of dabbling” his drug use spiraled and before long he was taking drugs daily. “Then it just turns into a habit that you do once a week and then once a day and then, like, twice a day and then, like, without booze. It just became bad vibes,’ the “Shape of You” hitmaker shared.
Ed Sheeran Quit Drugs After Jamal Edwards Died
However, after Jamal Edwards died from cardiac arrhythmia brought on by cocaine use, Ed Sheeran resolved to stop taking drugs.
“I would never, ever, ever touch anything again, because that’s how Jamal died. And that’s just disrespectful to his memory to even, like, go near,” he added.
“We were meant to shoot in February, but the day before Russ flew out, Jamal tragically died,” Sheeran explained. He decided to put out the song with Russ as a tribute and tapped U.K. grime legend Jammer to get on the track.
”He was always about bringing people together and shinning a light,” Jammer said, sharing the video last July. “I’m glad we was able to execute your vision!! I hope this makes you proud. This year has been a tough one 💔 #JamalForever.” Check out the “Are You Entertained” video below.

J. Cole has once again shown how much time he has for his fans, pulling up to meet one in the projects to hear his music.
The Dreamville co-founder linked with an emerging rapper on Wednesday evening (Mar. 22), meeting him in the 40 Project in Queens, New York.
Ty Trilly took to Instagram after the meeting to share a video of his encounter with J. Cole.
“Listening session wit cole in my project Lobby,’ he penned in the caption. Cole is seen listening intently while nodding his head to the track. He offered the young artist some advice after he explained he wanted to add a second verse. While Cole empathized, he told Ty Trilly to drop the track without it.
“You don’t even need it,’ J. Cole declared before adding, “Put that b#### out! Next! Shoot the video, pout that b#### out. It’s gone’ land on the people it’s supposed to land on.”
Although he initially felt the song was unfinished, Ty Trilly listened to J. Cole. Just hours after posting the video, he released the song titled, “Adapt.” Listen to it below and stream the song at the end of the page.
This isn’t the first time J. Cole has co-signed a new and relatively unknown artist. Earlier this year he made an up-and-coming producer’s dream come true, sending him a song he recorded after finding his beat on YouTube.
While searching for inspiration one day, he stumbled across the YouTube page of up-and-coming producer Bvtman after searching for a “J. Cole type beat.”
“This song should live on your channel and serve as a thank you to you and every producer out there cooking up and sharing their work with the world,” Cole told the beatmaker. “It’s a million artists out there right now just like me, hungry and searching every day for something to spark a word, a melody, a hook, a verse, a punchline, a way to vent, or a way to CUT THROUGH.”
The song has garnered over 3.5 million views in just over two months. Listen to “Procrastination” below.

Lil Yachty, Soulja Boy, Akon, and Ne-Yo, are among a group of celebrities the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) charged with promoting cryptocurrencies without disclosing they were being paid to do so.
The other stars named in an SEC press release shared on Wednesday (Mar. 22), are Lindsay Lohan, Jake Paul, Austin Mahone, and Michele Mason.
They were charged with “illegally touting” TRX and/or BTT, crypto asset securities Tronix (TRX), and BitTorrent (BTT). The SEC also announced charges against crypto asset entrepreneur Justin Sun and three of his companies “for the unregistered offer and sale,” of the above crypto asset securities.
The companies are Tron Foundation Limited, BitTorrent Foundation Ltd., and Rainberry Inc. (formerly BitTorrent). Justin Sun and his companies faced further charges for “fraudulently manipulating the secondary market for TRX through extensive wash trading.”
The SEC also alleges that Sun violated the antifraud and market manipulation provisions of the federal securities laws. They claimed he planned to artificially inflate the trading figures of TRX in the secondary market. In addition, they accuse him of planning a scheme to pay celebrities to tout TRX and BTT without disclosing their compensation.
All of the celebs, save Cortez Way and Mahone, agreed to pay up more than $400,000 in disgorgement, interest, and penalties to settle the charges. They will not have to admit or deny the allegations.
“This case demonstrates again the high risk investors face when crypto asset securities are offered and sold without proper disclosure,” said SEC Chair Gary Gensler
The sport of battle rap is one of the most exciting parts of the culture. Now, an unlikely world leader is at the center of diss gaining steam in Eastern Europe.
Daniel Freund, a member of the European Parliament from Germany, is featured on a track aimed to ether Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban.
Freund tweeted, “I asked #ChatGPT to write a rap song about corruption in Hungary. Fascinating.”
I asked #ChatGPT to write a rap song about corruption in Hungary.
The politician posted the rap that said, “He’s been stacking the courts, packing the press; Making sure his critics are silenced, no less; Using public funds to line his own pockets; It’s time to call him out, let’s unlock it.”
“From football clubs to luxury castles; Orban’s empire is built on scams and hustles; It’s time to clean up, it’s time to fight; We won’t back down until Orban’s out of sight,” continued the rhyme made by Artificial Intelligence.
Freund used, according to the BBC, ChatGPT, which has a feature that does everything from writing essays to computing code to writing raps!
When asked about the app’s ability to write a rhyme, Freund said he was “quite impressed how it put widely known accusations against the Orban government into a rap text.”
One of Orbans reps, Hungarian government spokesman Zoltan Kovacs attempted to clap back with his own ChatGPT diss.
The app generated a full song with lyrics and verses regarding his foe— but instead of shredding him, it basically showered the Green party official with compliments.
He tweeted, “Pardon my French, but ChatGPT is nothing more than a b####### generator. Nothing proves this better than the song it gave us about @daniel_freund . Sure, he is a true “fighter for democracy”
“Yo, let me tell you ‘bout Daniel Freund. A German politician that you need to comprehend; Representing the Greens in the Bundestag; Fighting for justice and freedom, He’s got swag,” read the first verse.
The second says, “From transparency to human rights; Daniel Freund’s agenda is shining bright; He’s exposing corruption in the EU; Making sure that the truth comes through.”
Mallio is here to put on for his city of Cincinnati, Ohio.
On the intro to his recent single and visual, “5pm in Cincinnati,” Mallio is heard saying: “If you can make it out of Cincinnati, man you can make it anywhere.”
Mallio prides himself in his unique sound, blending the old school and new school into one. His music is something anybody can relate to, in any generation. Whether it’s uptempo or universal, Mallio reminds you he just loves music overall.
When asked to describe himself, Mallio humbles it down to the fact that he’s human like the rest of us. “I’m just a cool, loving, caring guy man,” he states. “I’m fun. Very, very, very intelligent. Very handsome.”
Most recently, Mallio unveiled his newest album titled TMFG, a 15-track project surrounding the theme of The Many-Faced God. As evidenced in all his bodies of work: the rising star talks to a wide array of audiences from all around the world, offering a diverse palette and variety of sounds with each release.
AllHipHop caught up with Mallio to discuss his roots in Cincinnati, biggest influences, the new project, his ski mask tattoo, and more!
AllHipHop: I’m so sorry about the Bengals. You good?
Mallio: Hey look man, you leave them Bengals out of this. [laughs] You can’t beat the refs, I don’t care what you doing. To be honest though, they had all these losing seasons. Me for the most part, I think it’s pretty cool to even see him going to the championships. Plus, you know how when a team’s winning? It changed the whole environment, everything around just upped. That’s pretty cool, to witness the unity.
Even going to the little bars and seeing everybody coexisting that’s the major thing to me. It be these little small subtle things people don’t really pay attention to, I observe that when I be out. Damn, that’s cool as f###. There’s normally two different sides of the tracks, we wouldn’t even meet these m############. But here we are in one spot.
AllHipHop: What was that like growing up in Cincinnati?
Mallio: I grew up in West End of Cincinnati, it’s very different now. They did that pretty much everywhere, the gentrification and all that. At this present time, it’s a little different. But when I grew up, it was rough. Project to project, it’s almost the cliche hood guy story. That upbringing, in and out of jail. Went to prison for a while. Got focused on being a newer, better overall person.
Cincinnati, it’s a cool place. It’s a very, very difficult place to really get out of here because of how small Cincinnati is. [laughs] Resourcefully: if you can make it out of here, you can make it anywhere.
AllHipHop: When did you fall in love with music?
Mallio: I was a kid man, little bitty kid. My mom, rest in heaven. I grew up on Anita Baker, Sade, those type artists. Barry White, Ron Isley and Bootsy Collins, all them guys. All the greats, respect to them. My dad on the other hand, he was more rock and roll, Nickelback, reggae music. But we all listened to hip hop. I fell in love with music, I was a little kid man. I used to have CDs, tapes. I had everything growing up.
AllHipHop: What’s your favorite Rick Ross song?
Mallio: The song with him and CeeLo Green, “Tears of Joy.” Huey P. Newton come on the front of it.
I know the words off the rip.
AllHipHop: Who else influences you?
Mallio: Him, Yo Gotti, Jay Z, J Prince. Not Jr., Sr. E-40, them guys on the entrepreneur side. Because even when I sat down and started to look at music as a whole: damn, where can I see myself? That was kind of it. In this lifetime, the Most High put me in a position to be a leader. Seeing those influences in front of me, yeah that’s it. Even now, the guys, Drake and all them, I’m inspired by all them. Anybody makes it out of the circumstances and get to where they going, it’s always a beautiful thing to me. I’m pretty sure you probably got a story too. See, I could draw inspiration from even you.
AllHipHop: How’d you get your name?
Mallio: Mallio is from my last name. My last name was Mallory, you know just being around hood riddling m############. [laughs] They called me B Mallio for a minute. Everybody around me kept saying B, so they started saying Mallio. And it stuck. Once my mom started saying it, it stuck. It was over with.
AllHipHop: New project, TMFG. Talk about the meaning behind the title.
Mallio: TMFG, there’s an assortment of sounds on there. It’s unique. When you hear it, it’s big. It’s theatrical. Talking about Cincinnati, I tap into what’s going on in Cincy. I talked a little bit about some of my exploitations around the country, just moving being me. The actual title is The Many-Faced God, that’s what TMFG stands for. Everybody knows where the inspiration comes from if you watch Game of Thrones. Overall, I’m a universal guy. I’m a universal entrepreneur, into a whole lot of things around my city and around the country.
AllHipHop: What businesses do you have?
Mallio: Right now, just started the trucking company. I’ve always been into promotions. Of course, I grew from being the weed guy. [laughs] Amongst other things, had to grow up. I’m moving moving like that now.
AllHipHop: You’ve collaborated with Ty Dolla $ign. Any recent collabs that you’re excited about?
Mallio: Nope, not on the table right now. Right now, I’m just trying to get my legs up under me. Meeting people like you, this the important thing. In the past, I’ve done features. I got a Nicki Minaj feature early in the game. I’m on a feature with Alley Boy, a couple other artists that I can’t remember off the head. It’s online somewhere, a lot of this s###.
More so now, I’m more focused on the media. Y’all make this work, this the time now. Features? Nah, I’m into the groundwork right now. Really moving around like hey, what’s going on? This is me. I can’t move around like I’m from LA or New York, the big cities. I’m from Cincinnati, I’m from a small city so I got to get in the mix of things. That’s it.
AllHipHop: How’s the independent grind?
Mallio: It’s a journey in its own. It’s filled with education. [laughs] What we put out into the universe, we gotta be mindful of that. I can’t really say “yeah, this hard.” None of that. But when I really sit down and look at the overall picture, it’s a beautiful journey. The ups and the downs. Because through every down, I get progression and I go forward from it. Step by step, baby steps. I’m getting closer and closer to my dreams with it, and that’s the overall thing.
AllHipHop: One thing you want people to take away from the project?
Mallio: Just my overall quality. The sound, the lyrics. Hearing the genuine story from another perspective, on Cincinnati street life. It’s theatrical. I got a big sound. Hearing my side of the story, coming from Cincinnati. Just giving people a little insight on Cincinnati. We more than just what they think, and what they think they know and the people that they see so far. I’m a real Cincinnati guy. Real Cincinnati love around this m###########. [laughs]
AllHipHop: Do you still stay in Cincinnati?
Mallio: Yeah, at the moment. I’m in between here and LA. In Downey.
Mallio: Oh my ski mask? Most of my life, in and out of prison. I guess I could talk about it, s### it’s the past. I used to be a robbery boy. After I slowed down on that, I started putting overall life into perspective, and really seeing the beauty in life. Because I remember really being steeped in that mindset. I really didn’t have dreams, I didn’t have a conscience. Go to sleep, wake up, do some b#######. Go to sleep, wake up, do some more b#######. It was just that.
When I first put that on my stomach, it was a reminder of where I came from. My message behind it to myself, my personal Post-it note was: because my belly was big, this what greed look like. I came home… I’m real artistic in that way. All my tattoos got some type of meaning. I branded myself with that. Then I said f### it, I’ma turn it into a brand.
When I came home from the joint, s### I looked like a g###### actual figure. But as time going on, I’m doing hella s###. Just getting back into it, I’m like man f### it. I’ma put the ski mask on my stomach, then I put the note above it that said “take life.” A lot of people don’t admit that. I’m not necessarily proud of it, but I do talk about it.
AllHipHop: Best encounter with a fan?
Mallio: Aw s###, I get that all the time. It’s crazy. I was just telling my guy. Lil bro, I be forgetting that I’m popular. [laughs] So I’ll be somewhere… I went to the Gala last night, just a little bar here downtown. I’m talking about it’s guys like “what’s up OG?” I be forgetting sometimes that I rap. People walking up to me and touching me, I always get hella love man. I always get hella love.
I can’t necessarily say one encounter because I get people that’ll walk up on me. like once in Miami, someone knew who I was. Took a picture with me and everything, that blew me away. I had an encounter in Dallas, an encounter at the airport in Atlanta. Me, I’m looking at my numbers like man, this s### don’t reflect this. I don’t know man, maybe the most I had was putting them people in my way. Giving me little bread crumbs to keep going. I’ve never even looked at that until now, but yeah that’s cold.
AllHipHop: Any goals you have for yourself at this point in your career?
Mallio: Hell yeah, to get in that public eye. That’s the first thing. I’m at the point now, I’m looking for distribution. Because I’m limited on what I can really do. We all know, yeah, this is a financially driven industry, but s###, you only gon’ get so far spending so much money. I don’t give a f### if you got a million dollar budget. If it’s not in the right hands, your ass grass.
AllHipHop: Anything else you want the people to know? Anything you’re excited for?
Mallio: Life! I want the people to know everyday, you got something to wake up and go do man. You gotta wake up and enjoy this m###########. Get up and experience it. No matter how tough things may seem, get your ass up man and go do something. Because there’s a lot of people who can’t experience even what you experienced. There’s a lot of people that can’t go through the struggle, that even you going through. Outside of that, you can follow me on IG:
@mallio_tmfg. All my music, I’m on every platform. Check me out. High quality stuff man!

According to the Detroit News, 42 Dugg faces up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
42 Dugg agreed to a deal with prosecutors, who will recommend a six-month prison sentence. The agreement requires him to enter a 30-day inpatient drug treatment program after his prison stint along with a 30-day outpatient program.
The 28-year-old rapper, whose real name is Dion Hayes, is currently in custody at the U.S. Penitentiary Atlanta. He has remained in custody since his arrest in May 2022.
42 Dugg’s legal woes can be traced back to his March 2020 arrest for felony firearm possession. He was sentenced to three years of probation and ordered to pay a $90,000 fine in November 2021.
A judge revoked 42 Dugg’s probation, sentencing him to six months in prison. The Detroit native violated his probation by getting arrested in Las Vegas and testing positive for drugs on multiple occasions.

This project song for song and beat for beat is an instant classic with Daiyon expressing his experiences and emotions we all go through on a daily basis from life struggles, relationships, losing loved ones, and more. Daiyon delivers passion on each track expressing the hunger and aggression and how to push through these obstacles.
Daiyon’s meaning of the album is “Everything That Glitter Ain’t gold” which is commonly perceived from day to day from the outside looking in. Daiyon’s meaning of “Purple Pain” is everything we see is colorful, there is a gray or dark side to that in which we all face in life. Purple represents happiness and the things all around us that represent the bright side of life. Pain represents sadness and the darkness we all have to balance and face on a day-to-day basis.
This 13-song album is definitely a vibe and an album you can just press play, connect, and listen to each song back-to-back without skipping. You can hear and feel Daiyon’s passion as he displays and illustrates his own encounters while painting vivid pictures and lines that will either motivate you or give you a blueprint of how to balance everything out when dealing with obstacles. Daiyon opens the album with a very powerful infectious song called “Pray for Me” that will have you listening back-to-back before you can even continue listening to the rest of the album followed by tracks that set the mood and bring you further into his world.
Tracks “Ghetto Scarfaces” and “Pain On Me” co-produced by Daiyon take you back to the 80s with “Ghetto Scarfaces” containing a sample from the movie “Scarface” and back to the golden era of hip hop with “Pain On Me” which is a remake of Tupac’s song “Pain” that cuts deep and puts you in a trance as he paints a picture with vivid bars. “Drippn Gold 2” is a ball-out anthem for those who flex religiously and “Jealousy” exposes those who hate it.
“Purple Pain” also includes the hit video and single “Get With The Program” featuring independent heavyweight Philthy Rich and Blazo that will spearhead the project. “Get With The Program” has gained over 141k streams organically in the last year and currently sits at 218k streams on Spotify alone and is scheduled for a national terrestrial and digital radio campaign. Daiyon’s previous body of work is definitely buzz-worthy and something to familiarize yourself with as a new listener, but “Purple Pain” is one of Daiyon’s best works of art yet and is just the beginning of new masterpieces to follow and setting the tone for new fans hearing him for the first time.
“If you connected with Prince’s ”Purple Rain”, “Purple Pain” will take you to that same dimension. Classic project and 5 mic worthy for those who are in tune with the culture and get the reference.”

It’s looking like Tekashi69 was beaten up and pummeled by his security force. As previously reported, the people that beat him up were clearly past acquaintances. They knew him.
And then the Internet went and did its thing, and that result is his security team. Now, one of the guys has actually been identified in the vicious assault. And he is also the guy in the video that commands them to record him as he does the stomping on his alleged former client. He really gives it to him. I will say this, he got up. So, this was not a BROOKLYN mash out or anything like that. But they gave him enough of a message.
Now, the question is why? Why would they beat him up so viciously, personally, and publicly? There are a couple of theories out there, but the main one is Money. MOOLAH! It has been theorized over and over that he did not pay them and they got revenge. If you’re going to have security, it is important to pay them. They know who you are, where you live, and all the little particulars like where you go to work out. They probably know your schedule. So, it’s probably a good idea to pay these people because they’ve been inside your house and around you intimately.
Anyway, it is interesting that we are dealing with someone who has already worked with authorities. The word on the street is that the guy doing the stamping in the video did eight years in prison. I think it is likely that he could go back to prison, because we are dealing with someone who clearly works with the authorities in Tekashi 69. Also, how does this work with future security clients? I don’t think anybody is going to hire him/them, knowing in the back of their mind, he might beat the sh#t out of them!
Cannabis advocate and rapper Afroman is being sued by Adams County Sheriff’s Office.
According to TMZ, this was the same agency that raided his Ohio home in August 2022 and whose officers appeared in footage and pictures in his video, “Will You Help Me Repair My Door.”
ACSO claims in the lawsuit the artist is illegally using their likeness to make money.
The footage was shot by his wife’s cell phone and security cameras in the home. The complaint is that the footage made it into the music video but did not have the permission of the deputies featured.
ACSO states by Afroman using the officers’ image and likenesses in his music videos, on merchandise, and flooding social media with it, he has invaded the deputies’ privacy, emotional distress, ridicule, humiliation, loss of reputation, and embarrassment.
Afroman commented on the lawsuit, “My house is my property, my video camera films, everything on my property as they begin, stealing my money, disconnecting plus destroying my video camera system, they became my property!”
“Criminals caught in the act, of vandalizing and stealing money. My video footage is my property,” he continued. “I used it to identify the criminals who broke into my house and stole my money. I used it to identify criminals, who broke into my house, stole my money, and disconnected my home security system.”
The Roots co-founder Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson is set to launch his book imprint dubbed AUWA Books.
The new company’s name takes its inspiration from Prince’s signature screech.
AUWA Books, which will publish fiction and nonfiction, aims to connect readers with inspiring new stories and help them discover lost voices. Questlove’s interests are diverse, ranging from music to a vast array of topics, and he intends to share his passion with others through his imprint.
The imprint’s first book, “Thank You (Falettinme Be Mice Elf Agin),” will be written by the legendary Sly Stone and is set to hit the shelves on October 17th, 2023.
Sly Stone, known for his exceptional contributions to pop music, created a new kind of music by mixing soul, funk, and rock and is responsible for many iconic anthems from the 1960s and ’70s, including “Everyday People” and “Family Affair.”
“For as long as I can remember, folks have been asking me to tell my story,” explained Sly Stone. “I wasn’t ready. I had to be in a new frame of mind to become Sylvester Stewart again to tell the true story of Sly Stone. It’s been a wild ride, and hopefully, my fans enjoy it too.”
In collaboration with Sly Stone’s manager Arlene Hirschkowitz, “Thank You” was written by Sly and Ben Greenman, who has written memoirs with other music icons such as George Clinton and Brian Wilson.
Questlove is excited to publish his books under the AUWA Books imprint, which he feels is a natural step in his writing career.
“I have been writing books for over a decade,” said Questlove, “so it seemed like a natural step to publish them too. I’m very excited about AUWA Books, from the books we have lined up to the books we haven’t discovered yet. Let’s take it to the page.”
His book “Hip-Hop Is History,” co-written with Ben Greenman, will be published in 2024 and undoubtedly become a seminal book about hip-hop’s first 50 years.
Other books expected to be published under the imprint include Drew Afualo’s inspiring first book, Josh Luber’s Building the Hype Economy, and Derrick Palmer’s urgent Handbook for the Revolution: The Essential Guide for Workplace Organizing.
