Who Gets the Flags at Half-Mast? Jesse Jackson, Hip-Hop & the Measure of a Nation

By Chuck “Jigsaw” Creekmur and featuring Dr. Nola Haynes, Ashton Burrell, Jineea Butler and Hip-Hop.

“Brothers and sisters…brothers and sisters…I don’t know what this world is coming to.” – Rev. Jesse Jackson, the opening line to Public Enemy’s “Rebel Without A Pause”

Flags at half-mast speak loudly about who a nation chooses to honor.

They’re not simply fabric. They’re a signal of values. Charlie Kirk, a community college dropout, non-politician, non-military vet and documented racist, died by a bullet to the neck. United States president Donald Trump quickly lowered the American flag nationwide to denote we were mourning. The underlying message: this is what is important to us as a collective.

And sometimes, our values – and projected by leaders – reveal difficult truths.

Rev. Jesse Jackson was civil rights giant, global negotiator, two-time presidential candidate, college graduate and even mentor to Hip-Hop’s moguls. He was a powerful voice for Black dignity that passed away after a lifetime of service. But the national response didn’t come close to matching the size of his impact.

That contrast says something.

Because Jesse Jackson wasn’t just a man who marched with Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. He was part of the architecture that expanded democracy and equality in America. He pushed corporations to hire Black executives, he registered voters, he negotiated for hostages abroad and more. He told Black youth, “I am somebody.” In fact, he told all young that profound message.

And we believed him. I believe him as a young kid. That message echoed through the decades.

For many of us coming up, that phrase was a mantra. It gave us permission to imagine bigger futures in a country that didn’t always imagine us at all.

I met Rev. Jackson through interviews and Rainbow PUSH panels. He was always sharp, strategic, kind—and honest. Sometimes he critiqued Hip-Hop. That came from a generation defined by survival, where respectability politics felt like protection. But he evolved and he listened. And then he embraced us.

He saw that Hip-Hop could be power.

He told artists to own businesses, hire our people…build institutions. He saw Jay-Z, Russell Simmons and Diddy more than as celebrities—but as signs of Black economic independence.

“It’s another phase of our Civil rights struggle to become a more perfect union,” Rev. Jackson once told me. “to become a stronger, protected people. We’re now free, but we’re not equal. There is a difference—you can be out of slavery, out of Jim Crow, and still starve to death.”

In his later year, he continued to do the work, even as he was criticized for being out of touch.

Jineea Butler of the Hip-Hop Union, who worked closely with him, said:

“Reconnecting with the Hip-Hop community was deeply dear to his heart. He believed in our power—and challenged us to use it in ways that could help lead the world into its next evolution… I am somebody, and he was a Citizen of Hip-Hop.”

Dr. Nola Haynes, noted professor at Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service, added:

“Jesse Jackson stands as a giant in the fight for equality—a living legacy of civil rights when those ideals are under constant threat. His unwavering commitment to justice and advocacy for Black Americans has inspired generations, reminding us that the struggle for freedom and dignity is ongoing. As Nas poignantly stated, ‘Jesse Jackson taught me to stand up and fight for what I believe in’ (Nas). In a world where systemic challenges persist, Jackson’s voice resonates through Hip-Hop, urging artists to carry the torch of activism and to confront oppression with courage and creativity.”

And activist Ashton Burrell remembered the personal side:

“Rev. Jesse Jackson is not only part of Black history, but of American and universal history forever… We lost a legend, but he will not be forgotten.”

That’s Jesse Jackson’s real legacy.

A bridge between Civil Rights and Hip-Hop. He was a warning that fame without ownership is temporary and fleeting. He preached freedom without economics isn’t freedom at all.

But here’s the hard part.

I went to a Sixers game and as we celebrated the birthday of b-ball icon Julius “Dr. J” Erving and also the 250th anniversary of the United States…there was no nod to Rev. Jackson. When a nation struggles to visibly honor a man like Jesse Jackson, it raises a question: Who do we as a nation value—and why?

Jackson was imperfect. Polarizing at times. One OG told me, “Jesse was prickly and combative when he was young. But he was a front-line soldier for equality.” Without his moves, Black America—and Hip-Hop—would look very different.

But, look around and you must notice Jesse Jackson’s spirit still moving among us.

He told us to “Keep Hope Alive.”
Now it’s on us to keep leadership alive.

Because giants leave big shoes.
And instead of tearing down the next generation, we need to start asking:

Who’s ready to step into them?

Rest in power, Rev.
Our flag is already lowered.

I think about one of my absolute favorite songs, “Rebel Without A Pause” and how Rev. Jackson set that song off.

“Brothers and sisters…brothers and sisters…I don’t know what this world is coming to.”

The culture knows what he meant. We have our own universal flag.

Primary Aspects of Video Slot Tournament: Explanation by Casino Online DudeSpin Experts

Tournaments have become a key feature in the iGaming world because they allow players to compete against each other rather than against a website. While traditional gambling is dominated by luck and the house edge, tournaments at casino online DudeSpin: https://dudespin.com/nz/ add strategy and timing to the game. This article explains what tournaments are and the types of competitions gambling websites offer.

Definition of a Video Slot Tournament

Video slot tournaments at sites like casino online DudeSpin are events where players compete against each other in a series of games. Unlike standard slots, where players play at their own pace, tournaments have a structured format. It includes a time period during which players must accumulate the maximum number of credits.

Players enter the tournament and typically pay a registration fee, which is added to the prize pool. Casino management then selects a specific slot or group of games for players to wager on during the tournament. Each participant’s goal is to spin the slots as often as possible during the specified period to maximize payouts and accumulate as many points as possible.

Main Types of Online Casino Tournaments

Online casinos offer many tournaments in various formats. Users should explore the different types of events to choose the right one.

  • Scheduled tournament. These start at a specific time on a designated day. The prize pool for scheduled tournaments is determined and communicated to users in advance to encourage registration.
  • Sit ‘n’ Go tournaments. The competition begins as soon as a sufficient number of players have registered, unlike scheduled events with a set start time. These events are suitable for users who enjoy spontaneous gaming sessions.
  • Free Tournament. As the name suggests, participation in such an event requires no financial outlay. They are suitable for beginners who want to test their luck without risking their savings. Free tournaments offer a small prize pool.
  • Buy-in tournaments. Players who wish to participate in such an event must pay a registration fee. This money goes toward the prize pool, which is awarded to the player who finishes first in the standings at the end of the event.
  • VIP tournaments. These are designed for VIP players who register for the event by invitation. Players who are not at this level can sometimes earn a seat by winning a lower-level tournament. VIP events offer a better chance of success because they have fewer players.
  • Single-game tournaments. Players have only one chance to complete a predetermined series of spins. The player’s goal is to maximize each spin to collect as many winning combinations as possible.

Participating in video slot tournaments on gambling websites like casino online DudeSpin attracts players who enjoy competition. Prizes awarded in competitions can be impressive and vary from casino to casino. Before registering for a tournament, players should familiarize themselves with the rules to ensure they understand what they’re getting into. It’s advisable to choose tournaments featuring games they’re familiar with, as this will help them succeed.

Boosie Targeted By Louisiana Attorney General For Using Deceased Student’s Likeness

Boosie Badazz finds himself caught in legal crosshairs after Louisiana Attorney General Liz Murrill launched an investigation into his promotional tactics for the 2025 BoosieBash festival.

The Baton Rouge rapper, whose real name is Torence Hatch Jr., stands accused of violating state consumer protection laws by using Caleb Wilson’s name and image without proper authorization from the deceased student’s family.

The controversy erupted when festival promotional materials surfaced featuring Wilson’s photograph alongside Southern University and Human Jukebox logos, promoting what appeared to be a “Caleb Wilson Memorial Scholarship Fund.”

Wilson, a 20-year-old Southern University student and Human Jukebox marching band member, tragically died in February 2025 during an alleged Omega Psi Phi fraternity hazing incident that sent shockwaves through the HBCU community.

Murrill’s office filed a motion to compel in the 19th Judicial District Court on Thursday, demanding Boosie respond to their investigation into potential violations of Louisiana’s Unfair Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Law.

The Attorney General characterized the rapper’s actions as a “dramatic misrepresentation and misappropriation of Caleb’s name and image to support a for-profit event without the consent of Caleb’s parents.”

The legal dispute centers on miscommunication between Boosie and Wilson’s family regarding the proposed memorial scholarship. While preliminary discussions were held to establish a fund in Wilson’s honor, no formal agreements were reached, and the family never consented to using their son’s likeness for festival promotion.

“No one ever asked them or even mentioned this event,” Murrill stated during a press conference. “No one ever asked them if they could use his name and image to promote this event.”

During a March 2025 interview with WBRZ, Boosie expressed genuine intentions behind the scholarship initiative, stating, “We going to try to do something positive, because I’m grateful for his dad and all the people who made this work. We’re going to do something special for them because it’s a life lost too short.”

However, the disconnect between Boosie’s public statements and the family’s understanding of their agreement created the current legal predicament.

Wilson’s parents maintain they were blindsided by the festival promotional materials and never authorized the use of their son’s image or name for commercial purposes.

Murrill’s office has not yet filed a formal lawsuit but indicated that civil action for penalties and fines could follow if Boosie continues to ignore their investigation.

The Attorney General’s team is seeking cooperation from the rapper’s legal representatives to resolve the matter without escalating to full litigation.

Jim Jones Responds With Kung Fu Video After 50 Cent Posts Eviction Drama

Jim Jones found himself in an embarrassing situation when surveillance footage surfaced showing the Dipset rapper attempting to force his way into his own podcast studio.

The video, posted by 50 Cent on social media, captures Jones kicking and trying to break down the studio door after reportedly being served eviction papers.

The footage shows Jones struggling to gain entry to the space where he films his “Let’s Rap About It” podcast with co-hosts Maino, Dave East, and Fabolous.

According to leaked audio, Jones owes his landlord between $80,000 and $180,000 in back rent for the Bronx location.

50 Cent posted the surveillance video with the caption: “Damn, bro. This wouldn’t happen if we was friends. You want to be friends? I don’t know. Let’s rap about it.”

View this post on Instagram

The G-Unit mogul has been feuding with the podcast crew since they criticized his Netflix documentary Sean Combs: The Reckoning, calling it a “mockumentary.”

The video timestamp reveals the incident occurred on February 19, the same day 50 Cent made it public.

Jones quickly responded to the embarrassing footage with his own social media post, showing himself performing kung-fu moves in front of a large television screen playing the movie The Last Dragon.

“Kung Fu Jim is what they call him. I need you good movie,” Jones wrote, attempting to deflect from the serious nature of the eviction situation.

The feud between 50 Cent and the podcast crew has been escalating for months.

It began when Jones, Maino, Dave East, and Fabolous questioned the credibility of 50’s Diddy documentary during a podcast episode. 50 Cent retaliated by exposing their financial troubles and threatening to purchase their building.

Previously, 50 Cent had shared audio recordings of conversations with the building’s landlord, revealing the extent of the podcast crew’s debt.

According to reports, Jim Jones eventually wired $200,000 to resolve the back rent situation, but this new footage suggests the relationship between the rapper and his landlord remains strained.

Teddy Riley Falls Back From Working With R. Kelly

Breaking news! From the Desk of Teddy Riley:

I want to address the Los Angeles Times interview directly.

As a producer, I’ve always been excited about the possibilities of music and creative collaboration. That excitement has defined my career. But I also understand that words carry weight, and I never want my passion for music to overshadow the very real pain that many people have experienced.

If my comments caused hurt, I sincerely apologize. That was never my intention. I take seriously the impact that abuse and misconduct have had on survivors and their families. Their experiences matter, and they deserve to be acknowledged with care and respect.

The idea mentioned in the interview in correlation with a previous post I made was simply that, a creative idea discussed in passing. It is not something that will move forward. Loving music and recognizing its cultural impact does not mean condoning harmful behavior, and I want to be clear about that.

I have spent my life building a legacy rooted in innovation, integrity, and love for the art form. That remains my focus. I appreciate the dialogue, and I remain committed to moving forward with intention and accountability.

Thank you to everyone who continues to support me, my memoir, and the journey.

This is not a rumor. Teddy Riley was talking. But his defense of R. Kelly took the R&B world by surprise. The legendary producer, architect of an era and self-appointed messenger of revival, sat down with the Los Angeles Times to promote his memoir and it went left thanks to R. Kelly.

During the conversation, Riley confirmed he had spoken with R. Kelly, who is currently serving a 30-year federal sentence on racketeering and sex trafficking convictions. But then Riley revealed he was actively “bringing in investors” to release 25 albums Kelly reportedly recorded behind bars. Yes, you read that correctly. Twenty-five. Behind Bars. WOW.

Just a day ago, he did not mince words. “Everybody deserves a second chance,” he told the Times. He continued: “Everyone deserves to repent, and everyone gets forgiven by God when you come to him. People miss his music. I’m the messenger to bring R&B back.”

Social media is in a frenzy. Is this faith in action or tone-deaf optimism? Riley does not seem to care.

“If I was afraid, I wouldn’t be in this business,” he said. Then he added fuel to the fire: “He was forgiven, right? They want to keep R. Kelly in until 2045? I don’t think he deserved getting the whole thing. I think he’s been punished.”

Teddy asked the big question, which usurped the profession.

“It’s music — it’s not an act of what he’s done before. He’s got gospel records. Besides all the other stuff he did, he made music to make people strive to be the best. He’s asking for forgiveness. He has repented. What does that mean to everybody?”

That means he went into crisis mode, but that’s ok. He’s corrected the mistake and moved forward.

Can art be separated from the artist? I guess not.

Capodei Capi Brings Fresh Energy to the Hip-Hop Scene

Today’s hip-hop evolution is often powered by independent artists who are equal parts creative and business-minded. A prime example is Capodei Capi, who has built more than just a music career. He founded a formal rap enterprise. Capodei Entertainment LLC, founded in 2021 by entrepreneur Rahman Pratt, runs from Miami and represents the modern hip-hop spirit.

The company was officially established in 2021, and the story of Capodei Capi began years earlier. The founder, Rahman Pratt, had been creating music under the Capodei Entertainment since 2015 and was building its foundation. Those first few years were all about learning. He tried out different song ideas and figured out the hard work that goes into making music. By 2021, starting the official company just felt like the natural next step.

Capodei Entertainment LLC started with a mission to produce and release rap music. It started as a simple, independent music label. But as the industry changed, the company grew to offer more. Now, it also helps with marketing and brand deals, skills every artist needs to reach fans online today.

By keeping its five-member team, Capodei manages to combine the heart of a music studio with the focus of a business partner, all under one roof.

Capodei Capi’s music is built on the signature sounds of Southern hip-hop. It is a style known for its rhythms, heavy bass, and sense of regional identity. His lyrics follow in a classic hip-hop tradition that holds the real stories rooted in street life and personal experience without vague or commercial themes. His music uses direct language and graphics. It places him among artists who see rap as a form of documentation and not artistic expression.

At the heart of the company is Rahman Pratt, the artist known as Capodei Capi. He serves as both the founder and the lead performer. In 2024, Pratt’s reported net worth of $2.5 million reflects the solid results of this dual focus on artistry and business.

The recorded work of Capodei Capi includes early singles like “SpinnaOppBlock” (2022), at the start of the company’s formal releases, followed by drops like “Wipe A Nose” (2023) and “Dis Aint Dat” (2024).

In 2025, that consistency turned into momentum, with new tracks including “Tinder Dick Rick,” “Whoopty Doo,” “Crazy,” “Fake S###,” and “Whoopty Whoo.” This pattern of frequent releases is a common and strategic approach in today’s music culture. It helps an artist to stay connected with listeners and remain visible on the platforms where fans discover music.

Capodei Entertainment’s catalog includes a range of mixtapes and a major project, the album “Retired Street N####.” Mixtapes are like a practice space, as they are raw and let the artist try out new sounds and collaborations. An album is more like a finished product, as it is polished and made to feel complete and compatible.

By working in both formats, Capodei Capi presents a detailed understanding of hip-hop tradition by using each type of release for its purpose in building his sound and connecting with his audience.

Beyond his own releases, Capodei Capi’s music also appears on collaborative compilation projects like DJ MLK’s “Keep Up” series (Vol. 1-10), “Jarpin Sounds” (Vol. 24 & 25), the “Whoopty Doo” series (Vol. 1-6), and “Hood Rich Ent Off Da Meters Vol. 10.”

This isn’t just about having his name on a list. In hip-hop, getting on these big compilation projects is a smart step. It helps him connect with important DJs and producers, get his music heard by new people, and helps him become a recognized part of the hip-hop community.

Capodei Capi’s journey has also been spotlighted by media outlets. He’s been featured in publications like Sheen Magazine, VoyageATL, In the City Magazine, and Canvas Rebel. These aren’t traditional music review sites. They are platforms that focus on profiling emerging entrepreneurs and creatives. They’ve helped frame his career within a larger narrative of independent and cultural impact, and introduced him to an audience interested in the person behind the music as much as the sound itself by highlighting his work.

Capodei Capi is rooted in a creative hub, operating from Miami. Here, the powerful traditions of Southern rap with national trends and global influences place his music at a dynamic crossroads where regional authenticity connects with a wider musical conversation.

Snoop Dogg Calls On Swansea City Fans To Pack Stadium For Historic First Visit To Wales

Snoop Dogg delivered a personal message to Swansea City supporters ahead of his first visit to the Welsh club’s stadium next Tuesday. The Hip-Hop legend posted a video calling on the Jack Army to pack the stands for the Championship clash against Preston North End on February 24.

The Death Row Records founder became a minority owner of the Welsh soccer club in July 2025 alongside Croatian midfielder Luka Modric and television personality Martha Stewart. His upcoming appearance marks a significant moment for the Championship side as they continue building their celebrity ownership group.

“Uh-oh. Tuesday, February 24. Swansea in Wales. That’s right. I’ll be at the game and I need to see you at the game too,” Snoop said in the social media video. “Let’s go Swansea. Represent one time. Your Dogg will be at the game. Spread the word.”

The Long Beach rapper’s investment in Swansea City marks his latest venture into professional sports ownership, following years of involvement in youth football coaching. His business empire continues expanding with strategic investments across entertainment and athletics.

Swansea manager Vitor Matos expressed excitement about the rapper’s visit while maintaining focus on securing three points against Preston North End. The Portuguese coach acknowledged the high-profile nature of Snoop’s attendance but emphasized his team’s preparation remains unchanged for the midweek fixture.

“I think every time an owner of the club comes, it’s always good. He is of course high profile, everyone is really excited,” Matos told reporters. “But yeah, most important for me is to focus on the game and to focus the team on the game.”

Snoop’s investment strategy aligns with his stated goal of transforming Swansea into a global brand while pursuing promotion to the Premier League.

The rapper has spoken about leveraging his international profile to expand the club’s reach beyond traditional soccer markets.

The Championship club currently competes in England’s second tier after relegation from the Premier League several seasons ago. Snoop’s involvement has generated renewed optimism among supporters who hope celebrity ownership can provide the resources needed for sustained success.

Swansea City officials confirmed ticket availability remains for the Preston North End fixture scheduled for a 7:45 P.M. kickoff at the Swansea.com Stadium.

Anderson .Paak Explains How COVID Birthed Silk Sonic

During a lively appearance on The Jennifer Hudson Show, Anderson .Paak shared some vibes and laughs about teaming up with Bruno Mars to form Silk Sonic. Anderson .Paak’s journey with Bruno began on tour back in 2016.

“I opened up for Bruno in like 2016,” said Anderson. “He took me on tour. The biggest tour I ever been on, me and my band.”

Fast forward to quarantine days, and the musical magic started brewing again. “During quarantine, he hit me up. He’s like, ‘What you doing? Come in the studio.'”

Their creative spark ignited on a memorable occasion.

“I think one of our first sessions we had was on my birthday. This is my birthday week now, actually. I’m an Aquarius,” he added. With no better plans, Anderson dove headfirst into the studio sessions.

“He told me to come in the studio. I wasn’t doing nothing else. So, we got in the studio. We started working on stuff.”

This newfound collab had everything but a name.

“The next day, he’s like, ‘All right, we’re going to start a group. This is the name of the group. We going to be wearing bell bottoms. Come on. We hanging out every day.'”

And just like that, Silk Sonic was born, smooth as air and ready to funk.

The duo amassed heaps of recognition, leading Anderson to flaunt his nine Grammy awards, with 15 nominations to boot. Who would have thought this Grammy-winning phenom once aspired to be “the third member of Kriss Kross”?

Despite the hype, Bruno Mars and Anderson chose to withdraw Silk Sonic from Grammy consideration.

It’s a wild wave they’re riding, and Anderson .Paak seems to have a blast at every turn.

Druski Admits He Went Too Far at NFL Honors By Butchering Jaxon Smith-Njigba Name

Comedian Druski stirred up a storm at the 2026 NFL Honors with a name-slip involving Seattle Seahawks star Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

While presenting the Offensive Player of the Year award, Druski mispronounced the receiver’s name, unintentionally delivering what sounded like a racial slur.

The incident sparked considerable backlash, leaving the comedian in hot water with both fans and players.

Reflecting on the mishap during a candid appearance on CBS Mornings, Druski admitted he might have crossed a line.

“I like to mess around and, you know, sometimes you could go too far. I even hit him up. I reached out to say congratulations to him, the team on the Super Bowl. I think that was an amazing thing. And yeah, I didn’t get no response back. I tried,” Druski said.

Druski’s attempt to make amends by reaching out to Smith-Njigba went unanswered. Seahawks’ linebacker Uchenna Nwosu didn’t mince words in his criticism, labeling Druski’s act as “lame.”

The misstep managed to cast a shadow on an otherwise celebratory moment for Seattle, which went on to win Super Bowl LX.

Despite this snag, Druski hopes to grow and learn from this experience, promising to adjust his approach moving forward.

“I might have went a little too far. I think and I’m going learn from it,” Druski confessed.

Rapper Arrested After Beheading Dog & Posting Images On Instagram

Rapper Lil Drip, a former Georgia State football player, is sitting in jail after cops arrested him for aggravated animal cruelty following a disturbing incident that left a woman’s missing dog dead.

The rapper, born Jalen Wade, got charged with beheading a dog named Bambi and posting images of the gruesome act on his Instagram account.

The incident led to a multi-hour SWAT standoff in northwest Atlanta’s Grove Park neighborhood.

Fulton County Police responded Wednesday afternoon to a home on Illinois Avenue after receiving reports about the graphic social media posts.

Officers discovered the dog’s severed head in a bowl next to a machete on the front porch, according to investigators. When police attempted to execute a search warrant, Wade barricaded himself inside the residence, forcing authorities to call in a SWAT team before taking him into custody.

Bambi belonged to Precious Cody, who adopted the animal from LifeLine Animal Project in 2024. Cody said her pet went missing in September 2025 while she served a week in jail on a failure-to-appear warrant.

A neighbor told her a man claimed to know the owner and took the dog, but Cody never saw Bambi again until animal services contacted her Wednesday night after identifying the deceased animal through a microchip.

“All she wanted to do was cuddle,” Cody said about her beloved pet. “Bambi was like my child.”

This marks the second high-profile animal cruelty case involving a rapper this month.

Chicago drill rapper Aspen Kartier faced similar charges after viewers witnessed her allegedly abusing a puppy during a live Twitch stream, prompting widespread outrage and swift police action.

The 19-year-old artist, whose real name is Aspen Easterling, was busted in January 2026 after concerned viewers reported seeing her repeatedly strike a three-month-old Maltipoo during a livestream.

PETA worked with tipsters to identify Easterling’s location and contacted Brookhaven Police, who responded within hours to rescue the puppy and arrest the suspect.

The animal rights organization recently honored the Brookhaven Police Department with its Compassionate Police Department Award for its rapid response in the Kartier case.

PETA officials praised the department’s swift intervention in protecting the vulnerable animal, demonstrating how law enforcement agencies can effectively respond to animal cruelty reports from social media platforms.

Both cases highlight a disturbing trend of artists documenting animal abuse on social media platforms, with viewers playing crucial roles in reporting the incidents to authorities.

A Fulton County judge denied bond for Wade during his Thursday court appearance, keeping him in custody as the investigation continues.

The puppy from the Kartier case remains in the care of DeKalb County Animal Services, where it serves as evidence in the ongoing prosecution.

Nas Joins ASAP Rocky’s Ray-Ban Metal Collection in Belly-Themed Campaign

ASAP Rocky unveiled a striking new Ray-Ban campaign featuring Nas that pays homage to the legendary 1998 film, Belly, directed by Hype Williams.

The campaign launched on February 19 alongside Rocky’s Metal Collection, showcasing both rappers sporting signature eyewear styles that echo the movie’s iconic restaurant scenes where characters donned sunglasses throughout memorable dining moments.

Rocky’s role as Ray-Ban’s first-ever creative director brings a fresh perspective to the eyewear brand’s marketing approach, blending Hip-Hop culture with high-fashion sensibilities.

The Metal Collection features optical styles and sun frames priced between $202 and $249, targeting consumers who appreciate both luxury craftsmanship and street credibility that Rocky consistently represents.

Nas delivers compelling narration for the campaign film, stating “Man, I get a phone call from Flacko this evening. He wants to meet in Harlem. Funny thing is, it’s the same restaurant where I last met with his pops before he passed. His pops was my dawg.”

This personal touch connects the campaign’s Harlem setting with authentic relationships that define Hip-Hop’s collaborative spirit.

The Belly inspiration is particularly fitting given the film’s status as a visual masterpiece.

Hype Williams’ directorial vision transformed simple restaurant scenes into cinematic gold, establishing aesthetic standards that continue influencing fashion and music video production decades later.

The campaign showcases both performers wearing select styles from the collection in an incredibly accurate re-enactment of Nas’ legendary scene that originally featured DMX.

Fans can expect to see more innovative projects from Rocky’s Ray-Ban partnership as he continues to develop his role as creative director throughout 2026.

The Metal Collection will be available through Ray-Ban’s official channels and select retail partners starting February 20.

Druski Defends Whiteface Comedy: “It’s Not A Bad Thing”

Druski stands firm behind his controversial whiteface comedy performances after facing intense criticism for his September 2025 NASCAR skit that divided social media and reignited debates about racial comedy boundaries.

The comedian transformed into a stereotypical Southern white character at the Darlington NASCAR event, complete with professional makeup, a mullet, a cowboy hat and overalls, while chugging beers and singing Bruce Springsteen’s “Born in the U.S.A.”

The four-hour makeup transformation by Georgia artist Kaylee Kehne-Swisher created such realistic results that many viewers initially failed to recognize the Black comedian beneath the disguise.

“These are things I’ve been working on for years. I’ve produced that character multiple times before I did White Face. So I was really good at doing, you know, the voices the improv on all this stuff,” Druski reasoned.

Druski’s performance included controversial moments where he spat at Black attendees and told one person to “Find something safe to do, boy,” actions that critics labeled as reinforcing harmful stereotypes and crossing comedy lines.

The video, captioned “That Guy who is just Proud to be AMERICAN,” generated over 175 million views across social platforms but also triggered accusations of reverse racism and double standards in entertainment.

But some felt Druski’s approach was similar to Sacha Baron Cohen’s satirical methods of using disguise to expose social issues, while critics argued his performances leaned more toward offensive caricature than meaningful commentary.

The makeup artistry behind Druski’s transformation required specialized techniques typically used for film stunt doubles, involving multiple paint layers, color neutralization and alcohol-based products to ensure the disguise lasted through hours of physical comedy and beer consumption.

Defending his artistic choices, Druski referenced comedy history and the precedent set by established performers who have used racial transformation in their acts.

“I think the greats have done it like Eddie Murphy, you look at Martin Lawrence, these guys have done a really good white face, too. It’s not a bad thing, you know, but I think that’s just my vision. And most great comedians know that controversy comes behind good jokes,” he explained.

Ray J Denies Faking Stream Of Bloody Tears During Concert

Ray J hit up The Breakfast Club with some real talk. He cleared the air about those wild bleeding eyes during his Valentine’s Day show in Shreveport.

The singer went viral after performing with a heart monitor and bloody tears streaming down his face. However, a photographer hinted it was staged. Ray J set the record straight.

“I talked to the photographer. He said he was trying to make it lighter and make it cool because he didn’t want us to look crazy. I don’t know what to say.”

Ray J’s been in a health struggle for real. His heart’s not at full power, ticking at 25% capacity. He ended up in the hospital earlier with pneumonia and some serious heart issues. No more late nights and pills for him. Ray J’s determined to bounce back strong.

“Am I still popping Addies and Addies? No. Am I staying up for five or six days? No. So I’m going to get better no matter what.”

It’s been a chaotic ride for Ray J’s family. According to the ailing singer, Princess Love’s tears were no joke.

“Listen, I’ve never seen Princess cry like this,” he said. “She don’t never really show emotion. She been crying every day. The kids been crying even tonight.”

Even his daughter, Melody, got in on the action. She’s been schooling him on health. Telling him to chill on the junk food. Brandy’s stepping up big to cover those medical bills. Crazy what family will do for you in times like these.

His manager, Melinda Santiago, told PEOPLE the show must go on.

“We all know that Ray J has been under the weather, but all my artists that work with me gotta do their job whether they are bleeding or not,” Santiago said.

The Shift Toward Managed TikTok Growth Services

For people to gain a ‘real’ impact on TikTok by 2026, it’s going to take a lot more effort than just doing a few dances on the app and posting daily videos. A lot of people are realizing that they need to get more help to get to where they want to be. This is where the HighSocial platform can help you. This platform uses AI to get real TikTok followers. Instead of spending hours trying to get more video views, this platform and others help you gain followers that actually care about your content.

All of these services are becoming more common due to how TikTok itself is changing. You can no longer just be good at TikTok. You need to be able to market your content and get all the right people to see and engage with what you are posting. This is a case for why serious creators are now using managed growth services.

Moving Away from the Manual Approach

When TikTok first started becoming popular, a lot of users had to spend a lot of time engaging with other posts by liking and commenting in the hopes that they would get followed back. It was a huge waste of time. Now, a lot of creators are using more sophisticated methods to gain followers instead of relying on the old ‘follow for a follow’ methods.

With a managed approach, you stop making assumptions. You specify your target audience like age, location, and interests, and let technology do its magic. It captures their attention by naturally integrating your content into their feeds. No more endless scrolling to get your content seen.

Real People > Big Numbers

Most people think you need a ton of followers to be successful. Wrong. TikTok is smarter than that. If you have 100,000 followers, but they are all fake, the algorithm is going to pick up on the no engagement and stop showing your videos. Way better to have 100 engaged followers than 100k fake ones.

Managed Growth is centered around true organic promotion. That means your videos get put in front of real people, not bots. When they view your video and like it, they are going to hit the follow button. Because they chose to follow you, they are going to actually watch your next video and leave a comment. That is how you develop a community of true supporters rather than a profile filled with fake numbers.

The Facts and The Results

Are results showing how and/or why this shift happened? The following data speaks for itself (we have taken High Social as an example):

  • Massive adoption: Clients have shifted to managed organic growth models.
  • Time savings: System handled, creators across benchmarks have saved over 6.8 million hours in the discovery phase.
  • Steady growth: Accounts using these methods achieve an average new TikTok following of about 3,840 each month. No spike and no bans, just healthy and steady growth, the kind the platform loves.
  • High ratings: Real creators grow tired of the old way of manual growth and rate this average 4.8/5.

The “Targeted” Process

The reasoning for the shift in these methods is fairly simple. Its centered around a 3 step cycle that keeps a profile active and relevant by:

  • Identifying a target: The creator determines the ‘vibe’ of their audience and where they are located.
  • Organic promotion: The content is promoted to this audience.
  • Quality conversion: REAL users who enjoy the content will follow the profile. Since there are no bots or fake users, these followers will stick around for the long haul.

Why the 2026 Landscape Needs Assistance

TikTok in 2026 is a completely different environment compared to a few years ago. Instead of being a small pond, it is a huge ocean. There are millions of videos uploaded every single minute, making the competition for users’ attention extremely high. If you are just posting videos and hoping for the best, you are not really marketing. Instead, you are gambling with your most important asset, your time.

The “post and pray” method is not effective because of the high amount of content being contributed daily. Even the best videos will be easily buried. This is the main reason managed growth is becoming the choice of many, and here’s why it is crucial:

  • Overcoming the “Noise”: On the managed growth, your video competes with 1.6 billion users. Your content may be lost but managed growth will make your video be seen.
  • Buying Visibility, Not People: You aren’t paying for fake accounts. You are paying for the technology to put your work in front of real humans. It’s about getting your video on the right “For You” pages.
  • Winning the Algorithm Test: “Winning the Algorithm Test” means Tik Tok tests every video on a small group. If the group isn’t interested in the niche of your video, they skip it, and your video dies. With targeted growth, you ensure that the first group watching your video is interested in the niche.
  • Building Account Authority: When real, targeted users watch your video, it tells Tik Tok your account has value, and helps future videos to be pushed out even more.
  • Focusing on Creativity: With a service like the HighSocial platform taking care of the “discovery” side, you can spend your time actually making great content without worrying about the numbers.

In 2026, the creators that win are the ones who treat the algorithm like a partner. With a managed service, your video is guaranteed to start its journey with the right audience. This means the video gets the right people, watch time, and followers needed to create high quality Tik Tok followers that are engaged and last.

How to Stay Safe Using Algorithms

The third reason creators are shifting to managed services is because of safety. TikTok’s security is extremely stringent. If you participate in “black-hat” methods or bot farms, you will lose your account permanently. Protected services ensure your “account health” is okay by avoiding paying methods.

Aiming for authentic, AI-targeted sustained growth means you are able to establish a lengthy career. It provides more safety, more security, and more comfort to stay in the “creative” lane and allow the service to manage your “marketing” lane. This is the best approach to sustainable growth without burning out or getting flagged.

The value is evident in moving towards managed services. It allows you to spend time on the things you enjoy, mostly creating content, and still ensuring your content is seen by the people it was intended for.

Jadakiss Reveals Keith Sweat Once Took All His Money – & The Lox And Junior M.A.F.I.A.’s Too

In an epic night of rolling dice, R&B legend Keith Sweat cleaned house at the Daddy’s House studio during a session with Levert, Sweat & Gill. Jadakiss figured he hit the jackpot when a dice game got going.

What unfolded, though, was a schooling session by the legendary “Make It Last Forever” crooner himself. Jadakiss, already deep in penning bars for someone, found himself thinking he would pocket some easy money from the R&B outsiders.

Not so fast! Sweat and his partner-in-crime, Gerald LeVert, apparently had the bank in the bag and it was like taking candy from rapping babies.

“They got that s### on silk, linen. They aired the whole studio, everybody. Rabbit ears. The whole Junior Mafia. The whole Lox. Smoked us,” Jadakiss said.

Keith Sweat, a known good gambler, had once famously told people to bet on him at casinos. That night was no different.

“I’m good at that. I used to tell everyone to bet on me. Everyone made money. I’m good. I had the biggest rooms at the Mandalay Bay, because they would comp, comp, comp me,” Keith Sweat revealed.

With dice in hand, he swooped in like a hawk spotting its prey. Jadakiss watched in bewilderment as his cash was swiped, leaving him scratching his head in disbelief.

In this tale, retold by Joe and Jadakiss on their lively podcast “Joe and Jada Unfiltered,” Sweat cleaned the entire studio, stripping even the Junior M.A.F.I.A. members of their banks.

Next up, Keith Sweat plans to host a charity dice night for musicians.

Jay-Z Sparks Album Rumors With Subtle Change

Jay-Z just nudged the culture without saying a single word, and Hip-Hop is reacting like he dropped a surprise verse at Summer Jam.

If you blinked, you missed it. The Brooklyn billionaire quietly tweaked the presentation of his name across digital streaming platforms, returning to that familiar all-caps aesthetic that mirrors the energy of his 1996 debut, Reasonable Doubt. For most civilians, it is a minor formatting choice. For us, it is a flare shot into the night sky. HOPE.

Let’s be honest. Jay-Z has always treated branding like chess. Remember when he removed the hyphen and went with JAY Z? That was a moment (and maybe a slight to Dame Dash). Now the stylization looks like the early Roc-A-Fella days again, and the internet detectives are in overdrive. The loudest chatter is that a sequel, possibly titled Reasonable Doubt 2, could be in the chamber.

I am not buying that particular rumor.

Going back three decades to reheat a classic feels beneath him. Reasonable Doubt is sacred in Hip-Hop. Sequels to that type of classic rarely goes well. And contrary to the conspiracy theorist tin hat crowd, it is hard to imagine him pivoting creatively in response to gossip. That is not how he moves.

What is more plausible is strategy. Veterans are thriving. Nas enjoyed a late-career renaissance that reminded everyone why elder statesmen matter. The hunger for grown-man rap is real. Could Jay be surveying the terrain and plotting a calculated return? That feels more on brand.

There is also chatter (pure speculation) about a potential joint tour with Beyoncé. If that ever materializes, people will go crazy. Stadiums would not stand a chance, but I think Live Nation can deal with it. Still, even solo, he commands attention in a way few ever have. So, there’s that.

Here is the real question. Is this a prelude to music, or simply a reminder that he can still shake the room by adjusting a font?

And no, before anybody spirals, the pronunciation has not changed. It is still Jay-Z.

One thing is certain. When Hov talks – even without words – Hip-Hop listens.

By the way, this is what it looked like when it hit the masses?

Kehlani Teaches Kids R&B and Films Out The Window Music Video at NYC School

Kehlani stepped into New York Public School PS 33 to teach eight-year-olds about R&B music and film an alternative version of her hit single Out The Window. The Grammy-winning artist spent two hours breaking down the genre’s fundamentals before transforming the classroom into a ’90s-style music video set.

The Oakland native explained her teaching philosophy to host Julian Shapiro-Barnum before meeting the students. “Because it helps you express big feelings. It taught me that I can be vulnerable,” Kehlani said about why R&B education matters for children. “In a lot of cases, it teaches certain people that aren’t always offered the space to be vulnerable to be vulnerable.”

Kehlani began her lesson by introducing the core components of R&B music to the PS 33 students. She played her own tracks as examples while encouraging the kids to dance and feel the groove. The artist emphasized how R&B connects to personal emotions and storytelling.

“I’m pretty in touch with my emotions,” Kehlani told the class when discussing why she writes songs. She asked students to share their own big feelings, with one student opening up about feeling lonely in first grade before making a friend named Elizabeth.

The lesson moved into vocal techniques as Kehlani taught the children riffs and runs. She demonstrated with the line “All I need is one more chance” and had each student step up to practice the R&B vocal style. The singer recently honored R&B legends with her star-studded remix collection, showing her deep respect for the genre’s history.

After covering the musical basics, Kehlani shifted focus to styling and performance. The students received 90s-inspired costumes, including neon colors and metallic accessories to match the throwback aesthetic. She then taught them choreography for Out The Window, breaking down the moves into simple steps the children could follow.

The classroom transformation culminated in filming the music video. Kehlani directed the students to channel the song’s emotional themes about missing someone and wanting them back. The kids performed alongside the artist, combining their newly learned choreography with the styling elements.

“You miss this person. You love this person. You just want to be in this person’s life again. You’re sad,” Kehlani instructed the students before rolling cameras. The final video featured the children performing the full song with professional lighting and camera work.

Kehlani shared personal details about her upbringing during the session. “I got three moms, two dads,” she revealed to the curious students. “My family is really, really queer. From the Bay Area. I grew up going to Pride Parade. Like, I thought that was normal.”

The visit was part of Celebrity Substitute, a series that pairs celebrities with public school students for educational experiences. The show is hosted by Julian Shapiro-Barnum and executive produced by EGOT winners Benj Pasek and Justin Paul through their Ampersand production company.

PS 33 received all the equipment used during filming, including costumes, lighting, and musical instruments, to continue their arts programming. The school doesn’t have its own performing arts department, making the donation particularly valuable for future student activities.

Kehlani’s appearance comes after her breakthrough year that included two Grammy wins for Folded and her first Billboard Hot 100 top 10 hit.

North West Signs To Gamma Following Dad Ye’s Footsteps

North West officially signed with Gamma, the independent music company that her father Ye partnered with for his upcoming Bully album. The 12-year-old rising star joins the roster at the company founded by former Apple executive Larry Jackson in 2023.

Gamma confirmed the signing to Rolling Stone, as North continues building her music career with studio time and new recordings. The young artist recently dropped her single “Piercing on My Hand” on February 6, which Ye and Will Frenchman co-produced for her debut project.

North performed the track live alongside her father in Mexico City during January, commanding the stage in front of nearly 40,000 fans. The father-daughter duo also performed Ye’s dedication song “Only One” plus tracks “Talking” and “Bomb” from his collaborative work.

Ye credits North with inspiring his creative revival for both her debut album and his upcoming project, showing how the young artist influences her father’s artistic direction.

The talented preteen showcased her multilingual skills on FKA Twigs’ “Childlike Things,” rapping in both English and Japanese over electronic dance beats. Her versatility demonstrates the artistic range that caught Gamma’s attention for this partnership.

Gamma has built an impressive roster since launching with backing from major investors, and has worked with established artists like Sexyy Red, and Snoop Dogg.

North’s music career runs parallel to her expanding business ventures, as her mother, Kim Kardashian, filed multiple trademarks for “NOR11” on January 14. The fashion and accessories company covers clothing, footwear, loungewear, hats, watches, jewelry, handbags, and cosmetics cases for North’s growing empire.

The trademark filings suggest that North plans to follow in her parents’ entrepreneurial footsteps while establishing her own brand identity. Her business moves mirror the strategic planning that built her family’s multimedia empire over the past decade.

North’s signing comes as Ye prepares to release Bully on March 20, 2026, through his own Gamma partnership deal.

Lil Poppa Dies: His Chilling Last Words

“You’ll be proud of me OG. Woke up, read me a Bible verse, got some breakfast in my system, talked to God about it.  I got one more album, EP, mixtape. Whatever it’s gonna be. I got one more. And it’s over. I’m going to find my peace.” – Lil Poppa two weeks before his death.

Janarious “Lil Poppa” Wheeler died at 25 in Jacksonville Florida as the Fulton County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed his death Wednesday and said his cause of death remains under investigation.

The confirmation, issued in a statement to News4JAX, ended days of speculation surrounding the Jacksonville rapper’s sudden passing. Wheeler had recently released new music and was scheduled to perform next month in New Orleans, marking what appeared to be another active chapter in a career built on stark honesty and hometown storytelling.

Born in 2000, Janarious Mykel Wheeler began rapping at age 7 in Jacksonville, first writing music for his church before transitioning into secular Hip-Hop.

His breakthrough arrived in 2018 with “Purple Hearts,” a song detailing his survival of a shooting in his city. The track gained widespread attention and later appeared on his Under Investigation mixtape, positioning the then 18 year old as one of Jacksonville’s emerging voices.

The momentum led to a deal with Interscope Records. In 2021, he released his debut studio album “Blessed, I Guess,” a project that examined the emotional weight of sudden fame. He later signed with Collective Music Group, founded by Yo Gotti, joining a roster that includes Moneybagg Yo and GloRilla. His most recent album, the 16 track Almost Normal Again, was released in August 2025. Just days before his death, he dropped the single “Out of Town Bae.”

Beyond music, Wheeler’s passing has drawn attention to the family he leaves behind. He shared a son, Kofi J’nar, born June 24, 2022, with Toie Roberts, daughter of Rick Ross. Roberts is an entrepreneur who runs Ashanti Beauty and the clothing brand Four Two.

Their relationship became public in 2022 when Wheeler appeared in a maternity photoshoot alongside Roberts. By 2023, signs of strain surfaced through social media posts and lyrical references, though Roberts continued to focus publicly on her businesses and raising their son.

Kofi turned three in June 2025. Wheeler frequently cited fatherhood as a source of motivation, referencing his son in interviews and online posts as a driving force behind his work.

At the time of his death, Wheeler remained active in music, aligned with Yo Gotti’s CMG while Roberts’ father leads Maybach Music Group. Though the labels operate separately, the family connection created an uncommon link between two prominent figures in modern Hip-Hop.

As the investigation continues, Lil Poppa’s legacy rests in a catalog shaped by survival, ambition and emotional candor, and in the young child who now carries his story forward.

Third Suspect Arrested in Chris King Murder Case

The final piece of the puzzle just fell into place after Trayvon Palmer, the last suspect wanted in rapper Chris King‘s murder, was arrested Tuesday night in Las Vegas.

Deputy U.S. Marshals found Palmer at an apartment complex after the 32-year-old had been running since April 2024, when Christopher Cheeks was gunned down outside a Nashville music studio.

Chris King ran in one direction while his 29-year-old friend ran another way. Both were hit by gunfire, but only King’s friend survived. King was pronounced dead at Vanderbilt Hospital.

Palmer was the hardest to find. Police believed he was hiding in the Los Angeles area as recently as December. But a tip led marshals to Las Vegas, where they finally caught up with him.

This arrest brings relief to everyone who loved Chris King, who was just 32 when three men tried to rob him and his friends in an alleyway on Hayes Street.

Palmer faces serious charges. First-degree murder tops the list, along with robbery and gun offenses. His return to Nashville is pending, according to Metro Nashville Police.

The other two suspects were already behind bars. Amir Carroll was arrested in February 2025 on East Thompson Lane. Adrian Cameron Jr. was caught in Los Angeles in May 2025.

Carroll, now 19, faces more than 10 charges, including first-degree premeditated murder. He’s being held on a $250,000 bond.
