Octavian has announced he is going to be a father to a baby girl with a reflective social media post.
The French-British rapper was touted as one of the rising stars of the U.K. rap scene before he was accused of “physical, verbal and psychological abuse” by his ex-girlfriend in November 2020.
Despite announcing his retirement in 2021, Octavian returned with his debut studio album Alpha earlier this year.
“With my daughter on the way, I have realized a lot,” Octavian admitted in a note shared on Instagram. “I have been defensive, because I know my heart,” he added.
However, the “Papi Chulo” acknowledged that he “should not blame” anybody but “own and demonstrate accountability,” instead.
Octavian Offered His “Deepest Apologies” For His Past Actions
While Octavian did not name anyone individually, he offered his “deepest apologies” to anyone he “hurt or disrespected” in the past. He accepts his “rude, irrational, arrogant, self-destructive, and disrespectful’” behavior following the death of his mother. He also claimed his mother’s passing caused him to abuse drugs which took over his life.
“I am thankful of my Karma, and that God opened my eyes to recognise my errors,” the note continued. “I am grateful to be alive to improve, and follow a righteous path.”
Octavian wants to teach his daughter about “truth and accountability,” to help guide her to becoming her best self. Check out his post below.
The London-based rapper dropped a single with Gunna and SAINt JHN in August 2020 and was due to release his debut album Alpha in November that year. However, the label to pulled the plug on it after Octavian’s former partner made her allegations a day before the project was set to drop.
She claimed she was “frequently kicked, punched, strangled,” by Octavian throughout their three-year relationship. The incidents were “often prompted by his cocaine use.” He strenuously denied the claims and labeled the allegations “the biggest defamation of character in history.”
Octavian went on to release his debut album on May 6 this year. Check it out below.
The rapper and activist said Thug used a career in music to lift him out of life on the streets of Atlanta, where he grew up. The experience is one Killer Mike can relate to as he hails from the same city and can relate to his circumstances.
“[Young Thug] came out of a very desperate situation,” Killer Mike explained during an interview with ABC News. “The side of town he comes from — Cleveland Avenue, southeast Atlanta — has been wrought with poverty forever … he managed to escape the streets using rap lyrics, and he’s managed to help people change their lives.”
According to the Run The Jewels rapper, “These lyrics are no more than braggadocio rap lyrics. It is no more than Killer Mike saying I’m a killer on the mic.”
Furthermore, Killer Mike called for empathy for the rapper. “Young Thug — that’s a character that Jeffery Williams created … but Jeffery Williams is a father,” Killer Mike said. “He’s a human being that’s capable of love, care and compassion.”
Young Thug And Gunna Await Trial
Young Thug and Gunna are currently behind bars while awaiting a RICO trial next January. The pair were denied bail after being charged with racketeering, alongside more than two dozen other individuals, by authorities last month.
As reported by AllHipHop, Thugger’s nephew and YSL signee recently shared an update from the rapper. He spit a freestyle and admitted to having suicidal thoughts while locked up. Check out the clip below.
Last month, it was revealed prosecutors are using the rapper’s lyrics and social media interactions to paint him as a violent gang figure.
Earlier this month, Kevin Liles condemned the use of rap lyrics in criminal trials. He created the “Rap Music on Trial: Protect Black Art” petition on Change.org in support of Young Thug and Gunna.
Chris Brown has waded into the online debate over whether he is a more talented performer than Michael Jackson.
The comparison is not a new one and seems to spark a fresh debate on a yearly basis. The Pivot Podcast‘s Ryan Clark reignited the discussion earlier this month with his now-viral tweet.
“Chris Brown is more talented than Michael Jackson,” he penned. “There I said it! Have a great week.”
The R&B singer addressed the comparisons during a recent interview ahead of the release of his Breezy album. Chris Brown was humble and paid homage to the King of Pop, without whom, he says, he would cease to exist.
When asked how he responds when people say he’s better than Michael Jackson, Chris Brown replied, “That’s cap. That is cap!” He added, “I stay the hell up out of,” the entire discussion.
“My personal take on it is I wouldn’t even be breathing or even be able to sing a song if that man didn’t exist,” he said. “I don’t know if they look at it as a Jordan-Kobe thing, but I couldn’t even look at it. He’s lightyears ahead. There is no competing with him.”
Chris Brown also admitted that he is such a fan, he has shrines of MJ around his California mansion. “Hell nah, I’m not better than Michael Jackson,” the “Deuces” hitmaker declared. Check out the interview below.
Drake stopped by DJ Khaled’s Miami home for “family dinner” to celebrate the release of his new album, Honestly, Nevermind.
However, DJ Khaled, while toasting Drizzy’s success, went on to talk about another one the duo has in the works.
“The video treatment idea is incredible,” DJ Khaled began, referencing an upcoming track with Drake.
According to Khaled, the video is “insane,” and the single is due out soon. He also credited Drake for his “genius” in creating the idea behind the visuals for the upcoming track.
“Nah, the song we got here …. you’re a genius. The idea for the video is insane,” he added before calling for his personal chef to bring some more food and drinks to celebrate.
“Bring another drink! Bring out the lobsters! Chef Melissa, we gonna celebrate, we dropping a single soon, he shouted. “They ain’t believe in me. Drake did,” DJ Khaled exclaimed while the Toronto rapper exploded in laughter off-camera. Check out the clip below.
“@chefmelissazuniga lobsters 🦞 was incredible ! Ideas is flowing,’ he wrote in the caption. “Great vibes wit my brother @champagnepapi 🦉🔑 DRAKE DID ! Family ting #WETHEBEST #OVO 🎥 @champagnepapi”
Dave Chappelle announced that the student theater at his old high school will not bear his name and instead be called the Theater for Artistic Freedom and Expression. The school initially planned to pay tribute to him by renaming a building in his honor. He made the change following student backlash to his Netflix special, The Closer.
The comedian announced the switch during the naming ceremony on Monday night (Jun. 21). According to the Washington Post, Dave Chappelle expressed that the criticism “sincerely” hurt him. The school had delayed naming the building, which was initially postponed in November after The Closerwas criticized as transphobic. Ellington students heckled the comedian on campus during the controversy.
However, Dave Chappelle explained to the audience that the criticism lacked nuance.
“These kids didn’t understand that they were instruments of oppression,” Dave Chappelle told the audience, according to Washington Post columnist Josh Rogin. He added, “You cannot report on an artist’s work and remove artistic nuance.”
He likened it to reporting a rabbit shooting a man but not disclosing that the events described were from a Bugs Bunny cartoon. Chappelle also noted the popularity of the Netflix special, the platform’s most-watched ever.
Dave Chapelle continued, “When you say I can’t say something, the more urgent is it for me to say it. It has nothing to do with what you are saying I can’t say. It has everything to do with my freedom of artistic expression.”
Ultimately the comic decided he didn’t want his name to take any focus away from the students,
“The idea that my name will be turned into an instrument of someone else’s perceived oppression is untenable to me.”
Countless individuals around C. Wavie are creative. The artist is grateful to be able to have been shaped, in part, by so many around him. Some make music, some are creatives, and some are managers. Often, they would look to the young artist for advice / second opinion on what they were working on. A lot of the time, Wavie would actually help write a lot of the music or come up with the concepts that made the final cut for the music video.
He never thought he was good enough to be accepted in the music industry, always discouraged by the fact that so many people around him are in the music industry, already. C. Wavie would have to describe his music with one word, and that word is “Wavie.” Not it in the conventional sense of his music flows, to C. Wavie, music is like a tidal wave. “Some songs will build your emotions so high that you want to scream, others will make you want to dance, and a lot of the time my music is relatable.”
“If I wasn’t doing my music career, I’d be creating something. I’m not happy if I’m not creating! If it’s not music, then I’m creating art pieces or paintings, or murals. If it’s not painting on canvas, I’m designing clothing or rearranging my house.”
When it comes to his list of performances and different venues, C Wavie fondly looks back at every show he had the opportunity to perform at. While he couldn’t choose one as his favorite to talk about, he had a lot to say about each place that he felt truly welcomed him and his sound. For C Wavie, performing is one of the many parts of his career that he enjoys; as every opportunity has its own memorable moments, each venue/place to perform brings a new side of him to the audience.
“My favorite song to perform is called “Fountain” because I love the drop and the hook of the song and the meaning behind it.” C.
Wavie ultimately aspires to change the competition and certain pitfalls artists are experiencing in the music industry. Ideally, he would change it to be a friendly place, where everyone wants to work together and help each other out.
“The music industry is usually just everyone competing with each other and I think we all need to show support and help build each other up,” C. Wavie said.
When asked about his next moves and what listeners and long-term fans alike can look forward to, C Wavie took things again in the direction of one of his favorite parts of being an artist: performing. For him, there’s simply so much more to look forward to!
“I always have upcoming shows and performances: depending on when you’re reading this, check out my website at www.waviemadeit.com for any updates on upcoming shows.”
It looks as if marvel is really ready to take it to the next level, in their diversity and inclusion. The comic book giant is rumored to be creating a new version of the iconic character The Punisher.
If you know anything about The Punisher, you know that the character is derivative of a lot of the vigilantes from the 1980s. Well it is no longer the 1980s and those types of characters were often rooted in racial stereotypes.. Well, no more!
To make things worse, the symbol of The Punisher, which is a skull across the chest. Actually has been adopted by white nationalists, Blue Lives Matter bums and other random racist pieces of crap. So, they have essentially ruined the nature of the character, which was already pretty bad in hindsight. (He was super cool back in the day, I admit.) So they took something that was already a bit racist and made it even more racist. How the hell did they do that?
Anyway, Marvel is rumored to be taking a whole different position on the character after attempting several iterations in movies and in TV. Most recently they had a series on Netflix that had Big Punisher represented pretty well. Nevertheless, it was a failed effort that ultimately was canceled.
Now that these racist pigs have adopted The Punisher for their own, Marvel may be looking to resuscitate it for the modern world. And that makes The Punisher black. Will they actually do this? Who knows.
I know there is one person that wants it! The Punisher co-creator Gerry Conway has said that he wants to see a reboot where Punisher comes back as a Black veteran who “faces the issues that minorities in the world face today.”
Before I go on, look at how they have taken The Punisher.
The Cops are doing this…
Murder and Serve
Real comic book heads know that they flirted around with making The Punisher Black a while ago in the comic book world and it was a little bit hilarious. But the word is The Punisher will address police brutality and his vision of vigilanteism will manifest itself in that form. Yes, The Punisher may be taking on the cops! I cannot imagine this going over well, but if they do it, I am supporting it all the way. We HAVE to stand up these racist bullies! Look at that cop car with a SKULL on it. Insane!!!!
Elon Musk gets the father of the year award. And it is Opposite Day. In a startling turn of events, Xavier Alexander Musk has decided to completely change genders in an effort to distance herself/himself from her billionaire father. That is some SH!T to turn into a girl just to give pops the middle finger!
Xavier, who is a twin, recently turned 18, immediately, filed a petition to change his name to Vivian Jenna Wilson, which means that he is a she now.
The superior court of Los Angeles has the documents, but only released them recently to allow for Vivian to make the revelation herself. The revelation did emerge prior to Father’s Day, so I am assuming that there were no hammers or power drills being doled out at Elon musks home. He probably didn’t even BBQ.
Vivian specifically stated that she did not want to be associated with her biological father and that is that. Apparently Elon musk has had some seriously transphobic vibes around him and his son wanted no part of it.
“Gender Identity and the fact that I no longer live with or wish to be related to my biological father in any way, shape or form,” Viv said.
Apparently, Elon apologize for these things, but continued on to an extent where the son continually wants no part of him. So, that’s that! You know you are a real POS when your kid says, “I don’t want your money, power or anything from you, B!!!”
Beyonce is a trend setter, even when she is following an old trend. House music is the order of the day with Drake also crafting a dance album. Beyonce is a bit of a different story. She breaks back out in a most major way with “Break My Soul.”
The song is the first single from Renaissance, her upcoming album. Tricky Stewart and The-Dream, produced the beat, which also features Big Freedia. Jay-Z and Adam Pigott are also featured as writers on the song, which samples Robin S’s 1993 hit “Show Me Love.”
H.E.R. filed a lawsuit against MBK Entertainment, asking a court to void her contract with the label.
According to multiplereports, H.E.R. sued MBK in Los Angeles on Thursday (June 16). She accuses the label of violating California Labor Code section 2855 a.k.a. the Seven-Year Rule.
The code “prohibits the enforcement beyond seven years of a contract (such as the Agreement) to render services of a special, unique, extraordinary or intellectual character.”
H.E.R., whose real name is Gabriella Sarmiento Wilson, signed with MBK in 2011. The label’s owner Jeff Robinson became her manager.
The Grammy-winning artist notes her contract forces her to work for MBK well beyond seven years. She argues the deal should’ve ended in 2019.
“Since May 19, 2011, MBK has exclusively owned her services as a recording artist and has exclusively owned the right to exploit her name and likeness for her recordings under the Agreement,” the lawsuit reads. “Wilson has not been free to provide her recording services except as permitted or dictated by MBK.”
H.E.R. claims her manager fired the law firm that originally represented her in negotiations. Robinson allegedly recruited his own lawyers to handle the singer’s subsequent deals.
Robinson’s attorneys didn’t have a written fee agreement or a conflict waiver with H.E.R. They allegedly provided their services “as a favor” to Robinson.
H.E.R. signed her deal with MBK when she was 14 years old. She wants the court to rule the contract is “unenforceable.” She’s also seeking restitution and court costs from the label.
Drake appears to be on the verge of securing another No. 1 album.
According to HITS Daily Double, sales projections for Drake’s Honestly, Nevermind album indicate it will debut atop the Billboard 200 chart. HITS projects the LP sold 210,000 to 230,000 album-equivalent units in its first week.
The projections put Drake’s Honestly, Nevermind way ahead of other notable Hip Hop stars who dropped albums on Friday (June 17). Logic’s Vinyl Days is reportedly on track for 35,000 to 45,000 units sold while Kevin Gates’ Khaza is in the 30,000 to 40,000 range.
Drake surprised fans with the release of Honestly, Nevermind. He announced the LP just a few hours before it hit digital service providers.
The 14-track project also caught many fans off guard because it’s a dance album. Grammy winner Black Coffee served as one of the LP’s executive producers.
Drake’s latest album has received a mixed response, especially compared to his past work. He downplayed criticism of Honestly, Nevermind in a brief clip that surfaced on social media.
“It’s all good if you don’t get it yet,” he said. “It’s all good. That’s what we do. We wait for you to catch up. We’re here though. We caught up already. On to the next. My goodness.”
If Honestly, Nevermind debuts at No. 1 as expected, it will be Drake’s 11th album to reach the top of the Billboard 200. He most recently achieved the feat with 2021’s Certified Lover Boy.
Today Atlanta rapper Willie Bee has connected with Austin, Texas-based rapper Quin NFN for their new collaborative single. “Mopstick.” The two quickly delivered a music video for the song that has already garnered over 240,000 views in just under a week and has fans going crazy in the comments.
“My new single Mopstick has Quin NFN out of Texas on it. The last song with Paper Route Jay Pizzle, ATL Jacob produced the beat and it’s been doing really well on Pandora and Spotify” Willie Bee told fans in a statement to the press. “Quin is nice man, he got a hard flow. We got some mutual friends but first off his style caught my attention, he got a mean flow. This song is about the regular inner-city living man. Its a good huslter anthem for anyone that stayed in an apartment, anyone who hustles knows the streets ain’t always gotta be bad if you’re making money. I feel like Quin’s fans are going to merge into my fans, so I like this record. Its a good street anthem.”
Willie Bee’s last EP featured NY representative Jadakiss, who was coming fresh off his Verzuz appearance, as the Lox took on Cam’ron and Dipset in a Hip-Hop battle for the ages.
Known for his work in the streets Willie Bee did some time in prison but he’s back showing that It’s not how you start, it’s how you finish as he’s found music as a way to fill his idle time and stay focused on something positive.
“I’m a street rapper, I’ve been to prison, I’ve been in and out. You know I”m trying to make sure I stay out and this gives me something new to do with my idle time. I’ve already done all the hard work learning how to rap, so I might as well do the easy part and actually tell my story. So I’m just trying to show the youth that you can be successful, even though you had a couple of marks on your name. Don’t give up man, everything is achievable. If there’s anything that I can bring to the game its that I’m a model example of success on a concrete road. Don’t let your environment deter you from where you really wanna go.”
While Willie Bee may be a name unfamiliar to some in the music industry, his family has a long history of playing their role in some major acts along the way. One such role was that of his grandfather, a backup guitar player for Jimi Hendrix. While his cousin signed the recently slain Archie Eversole who did the famous song “We Ready.”
“I’m from Atlanta, my grandad was a backup guitar player for Jimi Hendrix and my cousin owned Fat Boy Records and put out Archie Eversole with the “We Ready” song, so I always had the music in my family and in my life.”
Aside from his family’s background in music, when asked why and how he got into rapping, Willie Bee explained that he grew up around a host of rappers from T.I.’s crew as he grew up on the Westside of Atlanta in Bankhead. Some friends encouraged him to take it further and really tell his story and the rest is history.
“I was bored, and with everything that I’ve done in the streets, I was just ready to put it down on paper for the city. I’m from the Westside in Bankhead. I got a lot of friends that are in T.I.’s crew. I let Peewee Longway shoot his video in one of my establishments. I’ve stayed all over but I’ve done all the work that it takes to be a rapper learning how to rap, now it was time for me to just do it and make music,” WIllie Bee explained. “I’m just what they call a certified street n#### bro. Anyone from Atlanta gonna vouch for me, I don’t care who they are from the biggest to the smallest, so that’s me man. That’s me just a boss that made it man.”
Ari Lennox declared she’s done taking flights for her concerts.
The Dreamville singer will no longer accept gigs that require to her fly. Ari Lennox revealed how much her fear of flying affects her in an Instagram Stories post on Sunday (June 19).
“For my mental health and my sanity l will not be doing any shows that require me to fly,” she wrote. “I can not keep torturing myself with this huge fear of mine. It is literally destroying my health. Enough is enough. I’m so sorry to all that are inconvenienced by this. Don’t know what this will mean for my career, but I just can’t do it.”
Although travel and logistics might be more inconvenient, Ari Lennox will be able to make her way around North America in a tour bus. But fans overseas will miss out on her shows unless she becomes willing to fly again.
The platinum-selling artist noted she wants to overcome her fear of flying, so the situation could change.
“If there’s any peers or anyone out there who knows of a great hypnotherapist, therapist and/or fear of flying solutions, I would be so grateful,” she wrote. “I want to beat this.”
Ari Lennox hasn’t released a solo album since 2019’s Shea Butter Baby. Last month, she dropped a cover of Queen’s “A Kind of Magic.”
Rob Kardashian settled a revenge p### lawsuit filed against him by his ex Blac Chyna.
According to multiplereports, the former couple reached an agreement before jury selection began on Monday (June 20). Prospective jurors were dismissed, dodging a trial that was expected to take place over a few days.
The last-minute settlement put an end to a lengthy legal battle. Blac Chyna originally sued Rob Kardashian in 2017, accusing him of posting naked photos of her on Instagram.
Terms of Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna’s settlement weren’t revealed. The two sides struck a deal after a judge refused to enforce an alleged settlement proposed via email.
Last week, Rob Kardashian claimed his ex agreed to drop the revenge p### lawsuit if he took care of a separate civil case against them.
“The deal was, ‘If you can somehow do it, if you can somehow make the [other] case go away, we’ll dismiss this revenge p### case,” the Kardashian family’s lawyer Todd Eagan explained. “And we detrimentally relied on that. We took a lot of action, a lot of energy to make it happen. I have the executed dismissal of the [other] case.”
Blac Chyna’s lawyer Lynne Ciani denied accepting those terms. Ciani said her client previously pitched a monetary settlement, which Rob Kardashian rejected.
The mayor of New Orleans must be a fan of her city’s native son Master P because she is definitely “Bout It, Bout It!”
Mayor LaToya Cantrell proved that one evening this weekend, Saturday, June 18th, when she broke up a fight at a Rob49 rap concert at The Fillmore NOLA.
The altercation popped off in the women’s powder room and cellphones captured the conflict, saturating the internet with clips of Cantrell playing mediator, talking to a woman outside of one of the restroom stalls.
🚨 BREAKING 🚨 New Orleans MAYOR, Latoya Cantrell, spotted at the #Rob49 concert with her Michael Jackson Penny loafers in the bathroom about to get mopped and flushed down the toilet. #OnlyInNewOrleanspic.twitter.com/aUw7IXIEWl
At one point, the individual is banging on the door of one of the stalls and puts her hand in the mayor’s face. The woman even shoved Mayor LaToya Cantrell, but she responded back, “don’t touch me.”
Someone in the background said, “She don’t even know who that is.”
Another says, “She don’t know who you are.”
The woman says, “I don’t give a f### who you is.”
When talking about the incident on the stage, Mayor LaToya Cantrell said, “I wasn’t fighting in the bathroom. I was breaking up something. Showing love!”
The rapper Rob49, who hosted a celebrity basketball game on Sat., June 18th before a concert, saluted the mayor and called her the “Best mayor” the city has ever had.
He said, “I wanna give Teedy a special award for being the best mayor that ever came to New Orleans.”
He gave her a plaque for her other work, but the incident showed exactly why she is so dope. #boutitboutit
As is often the case with many of the best musicians (and artists in general), sincere music often stems from difficult moments in our lives. Nevertheless, our experiences through life can drive our artistic efforts in a vulnerable way that echoes our creative output. It’s safe to say that genuine lyricism is what will most likely turn a listener into a fan––this is exactly what vetted artist Mike Sancho executes so well in his career.
Mike Sancho strives to be a forward-thinking artist who never compromises his values. He’s always paid homage to his roots, and it’s one of the main reasons for his influence’s success. Fans want to connect with musicians outside of their music, and Mike Sancho does an excellent job at it. Labels pump out artists every month, so creatives must pay special attention to their songs’ structure to stay nuanced and visible in a fast-paced music market.
Even though 2022 was a setback for many, Mike Sancho has kept an upbeat approach from the start. This season, he honed his skills to add to his ever-growing 2022 collection. Mike Sancho is undeniably a game-changer, a surefire talent who is quickly gaining acclaim, and one thing is sure: his star power will keep on growing.
Salute salute to the homey Cowboy. When Nipsey Hussle was first murdered, I thought Cowboy was something else (shady) but I do actually think he is a stand up dude. Cowboy recently took the stand in the murder case against Nipsey Hussle, and a lot of people are saying that he’s some kind of a snitch. Taking a stand does not necessarily make you a snitch I am nobody’s thug, dog or criminal, but snitching is the act of telling on someone else to save your own skin. So, for example, a law abiding Citizen that tells on a criminal, is not a snitch.
Anyway, Cowboy basically said that Nipsey Hussle did not call Eric Holder a rat. Or a snitch. And therefore causing the conflict that resulted in Nipsey‘s death. They are victim blaming Nip in death. What this does is, basically removes the nature of the murder. It says that Eric Holder thought about killing Nipsey and did not do it in a sudden impulsive act of murderous aggression. The difference is roughly 11 years to life in jail. We basically need homeboy to spend the rest of his days in prison or waiting for the death penalty. He took Nip from us.
Anyway, the backstory of this all is that there’s another guy Rimpal and he is a part of the All Money In Crew but he has been ostracized apparently, because he is now seen on tape running when Nipsey was shot. Honestly, I never heard of this guy before today, and I have not seen the tape. Cowboy took the time to talk about somebody that people say is Rimpal, but he didn’t say names. Cowboy basically saw the Nipsey tape for the first time in court and went berserk! And he also seemed to address the people that regard him as some kind of a snitch for just taking the stand. Weird.
