Will Smith Has Been Hated On For Over 20 Years: “Somebody Had It Coming” Says Lil Kim

Lil Kim says she and Will Smith still experience “the same level of hate” as they did over two decades ago when they made “Da Butta,” back in 1999.

The Queen Bee has spoken out amid the fallout from the 2022 Oscars where Will Smith slapped Chris Rock live on air after the comedian made a joke about his wife, alopecia sufferer Jada Pinkett Smith’s bald head.

Lil Kim took to Instagram on Monday evening (Mar. 28) to share a clip from the song. “Haters be making me wanna flip and react,” Will Smith prophetically raps in one line.

“it’s so funny how art imitates Life sometimes,” Lil Kim wrote in the caption. “@willsmith and I did this song in the early 2000s 😹😹😹 and we’ve been friends ever since. When we recorded this song we were both experiencing the same level of hate and till this day it’s still the same the haters are always going to be butt hurt and angry when u stay on top forever they hate to see it 😻 some of them may be more popular than u, may even make more money than u but still hate u because ur character and the way ppl love u & f### wit u holds more wait than their ‘title.’”

She continued but clarified she was neither talking about Chris Rock specifically nor ‘condoning the situation.”

Lil Kim Asks For Forgiveness For Will Smith

The rapper said she has seen Will Smith “go thru a tremendous amount of hate his whole career” and relates “deeply to this feeling of snapping,” having experienced the same thing herself.

“All I’m saying is plz forgive him yall,” Lil Kim concluded. She added that Will Smith is “a really a good person but somebody had it coming 🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️”

Diddy Was Wrong: Will Smith & Chris Rock Have NOT Talked Since Slap

UPDATE: Diddy jumped up a bit too fast. Maybe he was partying too hard. But, reports of Chris and Will making up are not true. They have not even talked, according to recent reports.

On another note, Richard Willams, by way of his son, has APPARENTLY condemned the man that played him in an amazing movie, “King Richard.

“We don’t know all the details of what happened, but we don’t condone anyone hitting anyone else unless it’s in self-defense.” – Chavoita LeSane told NBC News that is dad said that. Yeah, OK. It is my understanding that King Richard suffers from dementia. He also had a stroke. I am not in the know, but I have not seen or read a single remark or interview of Mr. Richard Williams until now. So, I am not sure about the statement.

Neither Venus nor Serena have commented either. By the way, Venus had a nip-slip live on TV and nobody noticed.

Old Content:

At times, things get way past words. For instance, the epic slap down at last night’s Oscars ceremony is still reverberating throughout the world of Entertainment. So now, Diddy says the slap, effectively ends Will Smith and Chris Rock’s enduring beef.

“I did not know that this year was going to be the most exciting Oscars, ever!” exclaims the Bad Boy executive. “Okay, Will and Chris, we’re going to solve that like family at the Gold party,” suggests the “Last Night” artist. “Okay, but right now we’re moving on with love,” jokes the respected entrepreneur.

Of course, some people do not take too kindly to disrespect. So, the curious interaction immediately followed Rock’s reference to — Jada Pinkett Smith — Will’s wife. Next, the rapper-turned-actor answers the age old question of, “What did the five fingers say to the face?”

Since then, Puffy dishes on how these two individuals worked to rectify their issue. In light of the public assault, Puff Daddy, is doing his part to set the record straight. In fact, he helps to curtly clarify the current state of the tense situation. “That’s not a problem. That’s over,” he exclusively reveals to Page Six.

Truly, the diversified mogul, is no stranger to beef. Moreover, he strategically mentions, “I can confirm that.” Above all, both Will Smith and Chris Rock have chosen to privately work out their animosities. Finally, he sums it up by insisting, “It’s all love,” before suggesting, “They’re brothers.”

However, many folks remain perplexed. Thus, the slap’s validity is being thoroughly examined. Regardless, of Diddy’s assertion, things seem squirrelly, Batman.

Ultimately, money is a motivating force. As a matter of fact, it easily strips men and dresses them up as women. Certainly, it may ease one into accepting a public smack in exchange for more notoriety.

Will Smith Admits He’s “Embarrassed” For Slapping Chris Rock, Apologizes To Comedian

Will Smith issued another apology for slapping Chris Rock at the 2022 Academy Awards.

The movie star addressed Chris Rock directly in a statement released on Monday (March 28). Will Smith apologized to the comedian and expressed regret for his actions at the Oscars.

“Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive,” Will Smith wrote. “My behavior at last night’s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally.”

He continued, “I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness.”

Uncle Murda Sorry For Will Smith Bars In “Rap Up 2021” After Chris Rock Slapping Incident

Uncle Murda regretted rapping about Will Smith’s personal life after seeing the actor slap Chris Rock at the Oscars.

The veteran rapper issued an apology to Will Smith via Instagram. Uncle Murda said sorry for airing out The Fresh Prince and Jada Pinkett Smith on “Rap Up 2021.”

“Somebody let @willsmith know I’m sorry for what I said in the Rap Up dam it’s looking like I can’t retire the Rap Up,” Uncle Murda wrote. “Love Don’t Live Here Out Now link in my bio.”

A post shared by Murda (@unclemurda)

Will Smith’s relationship drama provided plenty of material for Uncle Murda’s year-end recap song. “Rap Up 2021” featured multiple lines about the movie star and Jada Pinkett Smith.

“Jada out here still making Will look stupid/She said when he f### her, she don’t like the way that he do it/I’m like, damn he probably don’t get her wet/He be turning her off with all that throwing up after sex/Still got the nerve to show their sex tape to his grandmother/I get it, I see why she let August Alsina f### her/Either way she got Will Smith looking like a sucka/He should leave her like DaBaby left his baby mother/But don’t go on Instagram or get the cops in it/If he kill her she gon’ go to heaven and let Pac hit it,” Uncle Murda rapped.

But Uncle Murda changed his tune after watching Will Smith smack Chris Rock over a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith. The Oscars incident aired on live TV and resulted in the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences launching an investigation.

“The Academy condemns the actions of Mr. Smith at last night’s show,” the Academy said in a press statement. “We have officially started a formal review around the incident and will explore further action and consequences in accordance with our Bylaws, Standards of Conduct and California law.”

Lil Xan Enters Rehab After Getting Released From Psych Ward

Lil Xan reportedly left a psychiatric ward after medical professionals determined he wasn’t a danger to himself or others.

According to TMZ, Lil Xan spent three days in the psych ward before being released. He moved to a rehab center in an effort to continue treatment for his mental health.

Lil Xan checked into a hospital due to exhaustion, dehydration and depression. Last week, he informed his Instagram followers that he was hospitalized on a “5150.”

5150 is the number of a section of the Welfare and Institutions Code addressing people who may be a danger to themselves or others. It allows a person dealing with mental health issues to be involuntarily detained for 72 hours.

“DIDN’T WANT TO EVEN LET PEOPLE KNOW HOW BAD IT WAS AFFECTING MY MENTAL HEALTH BUT I FEEL I SHOULD, BEEN IN THE HOSPITAL ON A 51/50,” Lil Xan wrote on Instagram Stories. “PLEASE STOP SPEAKING ABOUT ME IF YOU DONT KNOW ME IM A HUMAN BEING JUST LIKE YOU.”

Lil Xan has been open about his struggles with drugs, detailing his addiction in an appearance on 60 Minutes. He also accused his former manager Stat Quo of enabling his addiction.

Alopecia Advocate Says Will Smith Showed “Strength” For Slapping Chris Rock

The world is buzzing after rapper-turned-actor Will Smith slapped Chris Rock for cracking a joke on his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith’s bald head.

Pinkett Smith has publicly said that she is suffering from the autoimmune disease, alopecia, a disorder that makes one’s hair fall out.

She announced it on her Facebook/Meta series, Red Table Talk in 2020.

While the first time Oscar winner said he was defending his wife and protecting her from any further ridicule (even if it were a poorly crafted joke), many, like “Ex on the Beach” contestant and hair-loss advocate ZaraLena Jackson, felt the 53-year-old was standing up for them, NY Post reports.

Especially since she too has been called G.I. Jane before.

The joke prompted Will Smith to bang on Rock after he said that Pinkett Smith looked like she was getting ready to star in the sequel of the first film, where a woman shaved her had to serve in the military.

Women are bald for many reasons other than to pass for men, and Jackson thought that Rock should have “known better.”

“I think it’s inappropriate to make any joke about someone with alopecia as it’s a condition that highly impacts mental health for that individual and isn’t a laughing matter,” she said. “To be clear, I don’t condone violence, but him defending Jada showed strength in my eyes and was very comforting to see a man stand by his woman when she has alopecia.”

She continued, “Being a comedian is very tongue in cheek, and we all dislike when jokes are targeted as us, regardless of the subject, but he should have anticipated that response naturally and known better.

“I’ve had friends and family joke about ‘let your hair down’ or ask to borrow a razor or shampoo, which I just laugh at because I know they mean no harm, and it can be humorous to see them panic without thinking about the comment.”

One family member that joked about it was Jackson’s mother, who once said, “Oh wow Zara, you look like a GI Jane babe!'”

The advocate hopes people will be one day see alopecia as a “medical condition and not cosmetic,” then she argues “the subject wouldn’t be joked around lightly.”

Will Smith Being “Reviewed” By Oscars For Slapping Chris Rock – Who Didn’t Write Offensive Joke

Officials have “condemned” Will Smith for his actions during the Academy Awards ceremony on Sunday night.

During the ceremony, the “King Richard” actor sensationally walked up on stage and slapped comedian Chris Rock around the face after he made a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s hair loss.

In light of the shocking moment, a representative for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (AMPAS) issued a statement revealing that they would be conducting a formal review of the incident.

“The Academy condemns the actions of Mr. Smith at last night’s show,” they commented. “We have officially started a formal review around the incident and will explore further action and consequences in accordance with our Bylaws, Standards of Conduct, and California law.”

Following the show, an AMPAS rep simply tweeted, “The Academy does not condone violence of any form.”

Will apologized for his actions during his Best Actor acceptance speech. Chris has not filed a police report.

Will apologized to everyone but Chris Rock during his acceptance speech for winning the Best Actor Award for his performance in the movie “King Richard.”

According to journalist Timothy Burke, Chris Rock did even write the joke. It was penned by the Oscars writing staff .

Tiffany Haddish Thinks Will Smith Smacking Chris Rock Was “Beautiful”

Tiffany Haddish found Will Smith slapping Chris Rock to defend his wife’s honor at the 2022 Oscars “beautiful.”

During the Academy Awards ceremony, Chris made a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s hair loss before presenting the Best Documentary Feature award.

While Will laughed at the joke at first, Jada, who suffers from alopecia, appeared visibly unimpressed, and Will responded by getting on stage and smacking Chris before warning him to never speak about her again.

When asked for her reaction at the Governors Ball, Tiffany said she thought it was “beautiful” how Will stood up for his wife, her “Girls Trip” co-star Jada.

“When I saw a Black man stand up for his wife. That meant so much to me,” she told People. “As a woman, who has been unprotected, for someone to say, ‘Keep my wife’s name out your mouth, leave my wife alone,’ that’s what your husband is supposed to do, right? Protect you.

“And that meant the world to me. And maybe the world might not like how it went down, but for me, it was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen because it made me believe that there are still men out there that love and care about their women, their wives.”

Tiffany noted that Chris is a friend of Will and Jada’s and accused him of exploiting her hair loss for a joke.

“Why would you do that? He didn’t even run the joke by her, but she was hurt though,” she said. “If she wouldn’t have been hurt, (Will) probably wouldn’t have said nothing. But you could see he was clearly… And they exploited it. They exploited her, so ‘I have to do something’… He protected his wife.”

It has been reported that Will skipped the press room and the Governors Ball after the ceremony. He was later seen on the red carpet at Vanity Fair’s annual party with Jada, their children Jaden and Willow, and his son Trey.

Howard Stern Thinks Will Smith May Have Mental Illness, Compares Rapper To Trump

Shock Jock Howard Stern says Will Smith demonstrated signs of “great mental illness” when the rapper slapped Chris Rock in the face during the live broadcast of the 2022 Academy Awards.

But he also said Chris Rock played it loose with a joke that was “beneath” him. Stern is used to saying slick stuff and derogatory jokes about people on this platform.

But he said: “This is a sign of great mental illness when you can’t control your impulse. Not only that, it was hardly an insulting joke. It was not even a good joke.”

“The joke, quite frankly, was beneath Chris Rock. It was a throwaway. ‘You look like G.I. Jane,'” Howard Stern added.

The SiriusXM Radio talk show host said Will Smith is “a guy who’s got real issues” for responding that way.

“He didn’t think twice about what he was about to do,” he continued. “Now that’s crazy when you can’t contain yourself like that…poor Chris Rock is a comedian and just trying to get through the day to make the f###### people laugh at that horrible ceremony,” Stern said.

“[Rock is] so fast comedy-wise, he actually covered and made a joke and said, ‘Gee, best Oscars yet.'” He added, “He was able to comment outside of what just happened to him, and then he got flustered. He got f##### over.”

“He got up, and he compared Jada Pinkett Smith to one of the most beautiful women in the world, Demi Moore,” Howard Stern continued. “You don’t hit people over speech, certainly not at the Academy Awards, and Will Smith’s got to contain himself.”

Howard Stern said he also thought the slap was staged until realizing Will Smith was defending his Black wife — who has been the butt of many jokes over the last few years.

“The first thing I said to my wife, ‘The f### is going on? Is this a bit? Because, where’s security?'” he told his audience. “This is a live television event. Not one person came out because he’s Will Smith.”

Will Smith, an African American man from the Wynnefield section of West Philadelphia, is one of Hollywood’s most recognized and important movie stars.

“This is how [Donald] Trump gets away with s### … Will Smith and Trump are the same guy. He decided he’s going to take matters into his own hands at a time when the world is at war. Bad timing, man, calm your f###### ass down.”

Howard Stern believes Smith should have been arrested on assault charges, despite Chris Rock not pressing charges.

Jake Paul Offers Will Smith And Chris Rock $30 Million To Fight In The Ring

YouTuber-turned-boxer-turned-promoter Jake Paul has offered Will Smith and Chris Rock a $15 million purse each to fight one another in the ring.

After witnessing Smith slap the comedian in the face during a live broadcast of the 2022 Academy Awards, Sal Vulcano took to Twitter to ask Paul would spend to see that fight happen on a pay-per-view.

“Over/under on how much Jake Paul is gonna offer Chris Rock and Will Smith for a boxing PPV?”

“I got $15m for Will Smith and $15m for Chris Rock ready to go,” Paul tweeted. “Let’s do it in August on my undercard.”

He previously offered Kanye West and Pete Davidson the same deal.

As reported by AllHipHop.com, Chris Rock said, “Jada, I love you, ‘G.I. Jane 2,’ can’t wait to see it,” Rock said on stage.

Pinkett Smith gasped at the joke about her bald head, caused by the autoimmune condition alopecia. In response to his wife, Smith walked up to Rock and slapped him in the face.

When he sat down, he said, “Keep my wife’s name out of your f###### mouth,” Smith shouted after exiting the stage.

Neither actor has fought before professionally, and its unlikely that the two will settle anything publicly.

Diddy said to TMZ, they already have. Smith and Rock allegedly met up at the Vanity Fair afterparty.

“That’s not a problem. That’s over. I can confirm that,” Diddy, said. “It’s all love. They’re brothers.”

Pusha T Breaks Down His Gripping Lana Del Rey IG Picture

Pusha T is dope. Often, his pristine body of work arouses a provocative response. Be that as it may, he emphatically breaks down his gripping Lana Del Rey Instagram picture.

Recently, the compelling wordsmith helped to initiate a cultural conversation. Often, his entrenched perspective resonates with the world. So, Lana’s provocative photograph is definitely serving up his stance.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CZGBcLSIJFw/

Actually, Cocaine’s Dr. Seuss euphemistically taps the anti-Pop princess. Yes, the outcome is emphatic brilliance; art ensues. Regardless, of the en trend metaphor or popular adjective, Terrar flexes his artistry.

In fact, a crumbled white substance obliterates Lana’s face. Be that as it may, the Lust For Life album cover welcomes a well-suited double-entendre. Previously, Del Rey has openly discussed her foray into the world of decadent dependence on both drugs and alcohol. Indeed, the lyrical chemist beautifully blends the experience.

In other words, King Push decides to reveal his thought process to Rolling Stone. “Musically, I think Lana Del Rey speaks to the same subject matter, but just on different ends of it,” he says. Additionally, Pusha T contends, “You can hear remnants of drug indulgence and addiction. So it’s like, ‘Man, why not?’ I thought it made sense.”

Thus far, Lana Del Rey has yet to publicly address Mr. Thornton’s Instagram post. Following, the shared photo, the “Cook It Down” MC talks more surprising news. “One of the heads of Interscope called right after the picture came out and asked me to get on a remix,” insists Push. “I forgot which song, but I’m still waiting for them to send it over,” he adds.

President Trump, Vladimir Putin To Blame For Will Smith And Chris Rock Altercation, According To Popular News Analysts

Donald Trump, Vladimir Putin, Will Smith, Chris Rock, Oscars

Some well-known news pundits put former President Donald Trump and Putin’s war on Ukraine “smack” dab in the middle of Will Smith and Chris Rock’s altercation at The Oscars last night.

During the ceremony, the Best Actor winner for “King Richard” sensationally got up on stage and slapped the comedian around the face after making a joke about his wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s hair loss.

Taking to Twitter following the incident, their son Jaden seemingly showed support for his family by writing, “And That’s How We Do It.”

Jaden, his sister Willow and their half-brother Trey later put on a united front with Will and Jada by posing as a family at the Vanity Fair post-Oscars party.

Will was filmed rapping and dancing to his hits “Miami,” “Summertime,” and “Gettin’ Jiggy Wit It” on the dancefloor with his Oscar in hand.

Social media blew up following the incident, with many celebrities weighing in.

But two well-known talking heads roped President Donald Trump into the conversation and blamed him for normalizing violence and vulgarity on T.V.

https://twitter.com/AshaRangappa_/status/1508292162814763025?s=20&t=PNg7I5O9N4Ct8IRKSO6lTQ

“So did like anyone walk out after that happened??? Or are we getting an independent psychological case study on how Trump got normalized?” CNN correspondent Asha Rangappa wrote.

Well-known strategist Steve Schmidt took the comparison further by comparing Will’s situation to Russian President Vladimir Putin and his war on Ukraine.

“Truth and lies. Do you want to understand how Putin can successfully tell his people that he sent the Russian Army to Ukraine, a nation with a Jewish President whose family was wiped out in the Holocaust, to fight Nazis? Simple,” Steve Schmidt reasoned. “Did you stand up and cheer when a movie star worth hundreds of millions of dollars assaulted a comic on national television and then gave a speech where he talked about being a ‘vessel for love’? If you did and you think you are better than the school teacher at a MAGA event or the retiree in the villages watching Tucker [Carlson].

“Will Smith lost control and committed a crime. The crowd cheered a crime because it also lost control,” he continued. “There is a difference though. The loss of control by the crowd was caused by a surrender of individualism and agency to the false comfort of belonging. There is no blanket that is warmer.

“Do you want to understand how Trump happened? Watch the Oscars and the crowd reaction. The pull to belong is very powerful,” Schmidt added.

Will apologized to everyone but Chris for his actions during his Best Actor acceptance speech. Chris decided not to file a police report.

Latto Discusses Her Chemistry With 21 Savage

Are Latto and 21 Savage an official item? Beginning in 2021, online observers began questioning if the two Georgia natives are dating. Neither Latto nor the Slaughter Gang leader have confirmed the speculation, but their “Wheelie” collaboration added more fuel to the fire.

2022’s “Wheelie” is not the first time Latto and 21 Savage collaborated on a song. Latto also recruited Savage for “Pull Up” off the Clayton County, Georgia representative’s 2020 album Queen of da Souf.

Apple Music 1’s Nadeska recently caught up with Latto to talk about her latest studio album 777. Nadeska also asked the former Miss Mulatto about her “working relationship” with the 29-year-old DeKalb County-bred rap star.

“[21 Savage] is one of the male Atlanta artists running it, and then I’m the female running it, hands down,” said Latto. “I think it’s just that Atlanta chemistry. I’ve opened up for 21 way back in the day. I was probably 15, 16, or something like that.”

The 23-year-old The Rap Game reality show winner continued, “I get like a lot of respect in the city because people be like, ‘I remember shawty. Like, she sold me her CD back in the day.’ I performed everywhere, opened up for everybody. They just respect the hustle.”

Latto found commercial success with her 777 single “Big Energy” which has peaked at #14 on Billboard‘s Hot 100 weekly chart, becoming the 2020 XXL Freshman Class member’s first Top 20 hit. A remix to “Big Energy” featuring Mariah Carey and DJ Khaled dropped on March 28.

Big K.R.I.T. Explains Why Artists Should Unionize

For decades, recording artists have experienced the financial pitfalls of the music industry. Unfavorable record deals, excessive legal fees, or unanticipated personal debt is too often part of a performer’s life story. Big K.R.I.T. believes it is now time for his peers to come together to form a trade union.

The Mississippi-bred emcee/producer joined Ebro Darden on Apple Music 1 to talk about his new Digital Roses Don’t Die album. The discussion also included Big K.R.I.T. laying out his reasoning for why rappers need to unionize.

“We were talking about a union before we got on this show. And I was like, ‘Musicians have a union, most people have a union, why artists don’t have a union?’ I see mad artists, they go through the process. They either have a hit record or they don’t. They get signed, they get dropped,” Big K.R.I.T. told Ebro Darden.

The 35-year-old southerner continued, “They break down, they get on drugs, they go to the streets. But there’s no collective to call and be like, ‘Hey, man. I need to go to rehab. Hey, man. I need help with these bills. I acquired too much. What’s a good lawyer I can go to? What is the deal I signed?'”

Big K.R.I.T. also added, “And so I think we’re at a point now with all this information we have, and you got artists that I know made millions of dollars off of their deals, which I didn’t, but even they don’t want to be where they’re signed to. So who do you talk to? How many people do you put together? How much money do you pay a month to unlock that information with OGs and we all can connect?”

Big K.R.I.T. Left Def Jam Six Years Ago

Before releasing projects like 2017’s 4eva Is a Mighty Long Time and 2022’s Digital Roses Don’t Die through his own Multi Alumni company, Big K.R.I.T. dropped two studio LPs while signed with Def Jam Recordings. The 2011 XXL Freshman parted ways with the Def Jam label in 2016.

“They left me in the dungeon as a dragon. It was cool,” stated Big K.R.I.T. about his time with Def Jam during an October 2016 interview with The Breakfast Club. “They just forgot about me, so I crept up out that thing. And I’m free.”

Another Big K.R.I.T. Project Is On The Way

Big K.R.I.T. is also teaming up with Wiz Khalifa, Smoke DZA, and Girl Talk for a forthcoming project titled Full Court Press. That collaborative effort will be streamable on DSPs beginning April 8 via Asylum/Taylor Gang.

“We did these records in 2019. The world was very much open. And flew out to L.A. All of us have separately worked with Girl Talk and the homie’s an amazing DJ and producer. And so he had records of us on our own time. And then it was just this thing like, ‘Bro, let’s all get together and work one day,'” stated Big K.R.I.T. while appearing on Apple Music 1.

Oscar Producer Will Packer Comments On Will Smith Slapping Chris Rock

Will Packer is likely best known for producing films such as Think Like a Man, Straight Outta Compton, and Girls Trip. The Will Packer Productions founder also got the chance to oversee the 94th Academy Awards.

This year’s Oscars ceremony will go down in history for one internet-breaking moment. While presenting the award for Best Documentary Feature, Chris Rock decided to make a joke comparing Jada Pinkett Smith to the bald female character from the 1997 movie G.I. Jane.

The autoimmune condition known as alopecia apparently caused Pinket Smith’s real-life hair loss. After first giggling at Chris Rock making fun of his wife on live television, Will Smith then walked on stage and slapped Rock in the face.

Will Packer Promised The Show Would Not Be Boring

Will Smith’s unexpected outburst shocked people inside the Dolby Theatre. People around the world watching from home were also stunned. Reactions to the altercation, including a tweet from Will and Jada’s 23-year-old son Jaden Smith, poured in across social media platforms.

Oscar producer Will Packer also shared his thoughts on Twitter. While Packer did not directly mention Will Smith or Chris Rock, his comment was clearly in response to the headline-grabbing blow that took place at the Academy Awards.

“Welp… I said it wouldn’t be boring #Oscars,” posted Will Packer at 12:57 am ET. That tweet from the Florida A&M University graduate has amassed more than 12,000 likes in just seven hours. Over 2,000 Twitter accounts retweeted Packer.

The Slap Has Captivated Social Media

Not surprisingly, “Will Smith • Chris Rock • Academy Awards • Jada Pinkett Smith” is the top Google trend at the moment. Will Smith’s name also leads Twitter’s top trending topic rankings in the United States and worldwide.

The “slap seen ’round the world” has definitely garnered significant social media and mainstream media attention for the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. This is coming off the 2021 Oscars telecast drawing the show’s smallest audience in history.

Will Smith apologized to the Academy and his fellow nominees during his tear-filled acceptance speech for winning Best Actor (King Richard). Plus, the Academy issued a brief statement in response to Smith’s face-smacking incident. The Beverly Hills-based organization posted, in part, “The Academy does not condone violence of any form.”

Will The Academy Take Back Will Smith’s Oscar?

Will Smith is, by far, the most-talked-about person on the planet this morning. The rapper-turned-actor made global headlines after he slapped Chris Rock during the live broadcast of Sunday’s 94th Academy Awards.

Chris Rock became the target of Will Smith’s frustration after the Best Documentary Feature award presenter joked about Will Smith’s wife, Jada Pinkett Smith. The comedian made fun of Jada’s autoimmune condition known as alopecia.

Last night also saw Will Smith win the Best Actor honor for King Richard. However, there is now a conversation about whether the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences will rescind Will’s Oscar.

Some industry insiders are supposedly pointing out that the Academy established a code of conduct in 2017. Will Smith may have violated those rules when he publicly attacked Chris Rock inside the Dolby Theatre on Sunday.

The Academy Rarely Overturns Oscar Wins

“It’s basically assault. Everyone was just so shocked in the room, it was so uncomfortable,” a source told the New York Post. “I think Will would not want to give his Oscar back, but who knows what will happen now.”

Several Academy Award nominations have been rescinded in the past for various reasons related to ineligible nominees. Back in 1969, the Academy named Journey into Self as Best Documentary Feature after the award was taken away from Young Americans for violating eligibility requirements.

Numerous Oscar nominees and winners have broken the law before and after being recognized by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. For example, Roman Polanski (The Pianist) won Best Director in 2002, twenty-four years after he fled to France to avoid sentencing for an unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor conviction.

Chris Rock Refuses To Press Charges Against Will Smith

The Academy released a brief statement about the Will Smith/Chris Rock altercation. A tweet from the organization read, “The Academy does not condone violence of any form. Tonight we are delighted to celebrate our 94th Academy Awards winners, who deserve this moment of recognition from their peers and movie lovers around the world.”

Later in the show, Will Smith apologized to the Academy and his fellow nominees for his actions. However, the 4-time Grammy winner did not offer an apology to Chris Rock during his acceptance speech for Best Actor.

While Will Smith deals with the public fallout from slapping Chris Rock on live television, the 53-year-old superstar apparently does not have to worry about going to jail. The Los Angeles Police Department revealed Rock declined to file a report against Smith.

Jaden Smith Reacts To Will Smith Slapping Chris Rock At The Oscars

“Jada, I love you. G.I. Jane 2, can’t wait to see it,” said Chris Rock at last night’s 94th Academy Awards ceremony. That joke about Jada Pinkett Smith led to Will Smith slapping Rock in front of the Oscar audience.

The “slap seen ’round the world” lit social media on fire. It seemed nearly everyone with an active Twitter account weighed in on the on-stage face smack. Even Jada and Will’s son, Jaden Smith, seemingly posted about the situation.

“And That’s How We Do It,” tweeted Jaden Smith around midnight ET on Monday. That tweet collected over 10,000 replies, 66,000 retweets,15,000 quote-tweets, and 420,000 likes.

Jada Pinkett Smith has openly talked about having alopecia. Dealing with the loss of her hair is apparently a sore subject for the Red Table Talk host. This is what likely prompted Will Smith to attack Chris Ross at the Oscars.

The altercation could also be the result of Chris Rock making fun of Jada Pinkett Smith at a previous Academy Awards event. According to reports, Will was still upset at Rock for a wisecrack about Jada over the “Oscars So White” boycott in 2016.

Will Smith went on to win Best Actor at the 94th Academy Awards for his portrayal of Richard Williams in King Richard. The 53-year-old Hip Hop legend apologized for his actions.

“I know to do what we do, you gotta be able to take abuse and have people talk about you. In this business, you gotta have people disrespecting you. And you gotta smile and pretend that’s okay,” stated Will Smith during his acceptance speech.

The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air star later added, “I want to apologize to the Academy. I want to apologize to all my fellow nominees… Art imitates life. I look like the crazy father. Just like they said about Richard Williams. But love will make you do crazy things.”

The R&B Soul Picnic Celebrates The DJ

The outdoor concert goes down at the Promenade in Piedmont Park on April 2 and April. The event was created to pay tribute to the DJs for their contribution to the community. Jermaine Dupri and Dallas Austin will be taking to the decks alongside DJ Baby Yu (Young Jeezy’s Official DJ), DJ Trauma (Dave Chapelle’s Official DJ), DJ Mars (Monica’s Official DJ), DJ SNS, and more.

Jermaine Dupri spoke to the healing power of music and why a celebration like this is needed right now. “We’ve all had a bad couple of years surviving this pandemic,” he said in a press statement. “We lost loved ones and hope in the process. Our souls need some healing, what better way to heal our souls than some good ole R&B music, I mean music period,” he added.

The first-ever R&B Soul Picnic Festival will also include surprise guest performances in addition to the DJs spinning the decks. Festival-goers can also access wellness resources like yoga and reiki at a “Soul Healing Center.” Further services will include talks with certified mental health professionals and advice on homeless prevention, substance abuse, suicide prevention, and more.

R&B Soul Picnic co-founder Jacob York explained the significance of the event. “This is a weekend to forget all your worries and troubles and come out, dance, and love being a part of a community again,” he said. “We wanted to build an inclusive festival where we can all escape and enjoy one another’s energy with a whole lot of amazing music. All are welcome with open hearts and open minds. Can’t wait to see you there.”
