Big Sean has revealed how his fan-favorite hit “IDFWU” caused a temporary rift within the Carter household after it put Beyoncé and JAY-Z at odds before it was even released.
Big Sean recently sat down with Detroit Lions player Amon-Ra St. Brown for an episode of his eponymous podcast where he shared a behind-the-scenes story about his 2014 hit. In particular, Sean Don detailed how it sparked a difference of opinion between the music industry power couple due to one key suggestion during the anthem’s early stages.
According to the Detroit rap native, “IDFWU” started out as a fun freestyle in the studio with DJ Mustard. Inspired by Too $hort, Big Sean claims he was simply playing around when he first recorded it and initially didn’t see it as a major song, when asked by St. Brown if he expected it to blow-up.
“No, no, hell no,” Big Sean said initially. “I was just f###### around like…I was really trying to make a song like this Too $hort song I heard the beat and I was just like, ‘Freestyle that s###,’ like I almost didn’t want to use it.”

However, when it came time to finalize his Dark Sky Paradise album, the song’s potential started to become clearer. Big Sean revealed that he played the album for JAY-Z and Beyoncé at their house before putting the finishing touches on the LP. He says it was during that playback session that Beyoncé voiced some reservations about the track, while HOV ranted and raved about it.
“Beyoncé was like, it’s a little disrespectful,” he said. She suggested adding Nicki Minaj to the record, possibly to balance out the song with a female perspective. JAY-Z, on the other hand, had a completely different stance.
“He was like, ‘People gone get it that it’s just you having fun’,” he explained.
JAY-Z’s support for the track was so strong that he continued pushing Sean to release it.
“I was getting texts from Hov every day,” he said. “He sent me a text one time that was like, ‘Every day you’re not putting that song out, you’re losing.'”
Despite Sean’s initial hesitation, he ultimately decided to include “IDFWU” on Dark Sky Paradise—a decision that proved to be highly rewarding. Upon release, “IDFWU” became one of Big Sean’s most successful songs, reaching No. 1 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and peaking at No. 11 on the Billboard Hot 100.
“I almost didn’t put on the album because I thought it was just kind of like, Ithought it was just a little like a little like dumb,” he said. “You know what I mean? It’s a great song, but I thought it was just like yeah—and then that b#### dropped and I was like, ‘what the f###’.”
That Mexican OT received the kind of hometown honor in Bay City, Texas, that would have made his late mother immensely proud.
In a poignant turn from his difficult childhood, the 26-year-old Hip-Hop sensation earned official recognition from his hometown Bay City, located south of Houston, with the declaration of “That Mexican OT Day.”
The city council finalized the annual celebration to fall on February 2, coinciding with the rapper’s birthday, as a nod to his soaring career and contributions to music and culture.
Mayor Robert K. Nelson officially signed the proclamation, applauding That Mexican OT for his “exceptional talent,” rising prominence in the music industry, and his role in “putting Bay City on the map.”
The city’s statement praised the rapper’s creative blend of traditional Southern influences with Hip-Hop, highlighting his positive influence on the community.
“This proclamation serves as recognition for That Mexican OT’s exceptional talent,” the official document states, “his impact on the global music landscape, his pioneering influence in merging rap with Southern style, and his ongoing efforts to empower and uplift others through his artistry.”
Reacting with heartfelt appreciation, That Mexican OT reflected on his roots and the significance of receiving recognition from the city that shaped him.
“I love the love, and I’m forever grateful,” says That Mexican OT. “I grew up playing baseball here. I grew up loving here, being mad here, being angry, and doing everything here. It’s a blessing. It’s beautiful, and I thank them for having my back.”
The rapper’s musical journey has been marked by notable achievements, including his breakout single “Johnny Dang,” featuring legendary Houston rappers Paul Wall and Drodi.
The track successfully landed on the Billboard Hot 100, propelling him into the national spotlight and securing a deal with major label Interscope Records.
His debut studio album, Lonestar Luchador, dropped on July 28, 2023, marking another significant milestone in his flourishing career.
Prior to the album, That Mexican OT built his reputation through mixtapes including “South Texas Project” and “Nonsense and Mexican S###,” solidifying his presence in the Texas music scene.
Despite his current success, life wasn’t always easy for the young artist.
He endured the tragic loss of his mother at age 7, the victim of a drunk-driving accident.
Additionally, his father was often absent due to incarceration, leaving OT to navigate a challenging childhood marked by adversity and loss.
Yet, emerging from hardship, That Mexican OT has transformed his personal struggles into powerful music that resonates with listeners far beyond his Texas hometown.
Now, with an official city-wide day celebrating his accomplishments, Bay City proudly acknowledges the artist who refused to let tragedy define his story.
Giggs experienced the full Ari Melber treatment during his latest U.S. visit, making a memorable appearance on MSNBC’s The Beat for a hilarious food-themed segment.
The British rap legend joined MSNBC’s resident Hip-Hop connoisseur, an FBI agent, and a renowned chef, resulting in an unexpectedly entertaining crossover of Hip-Hop, law enforcement and culinary expertise.
Melber tasked FBI veteran Andrew Weissmann and famed chef Mario Carbone with interpreting lyrics from some of Giggs’ latest songs.
The first song up for discussion was “Big on Change,” where Hollowman reflects on his evolution and personal growth.
The FBI agent was stumped, comparing Giggs to Williams Shakespeare before adding, “There is a part of me that thinks, thank God I really don’t follow music that’s past the 20th century.”
Melber then turned to Gigg’s verse on Top Boy star Ashley Walters “Take A Pic,” asking Carbone to decipher the following lyrics:
“OGs, yeah, we the fathers/I’m in New York just bumped into Fivi/Dover sole with the lemon, butter, add the sprinkle of garlic.”
“He’s just trying to tell you what level he’s operating at,” Carbone offered. “The access to places and people. And not only can he get the Dover sole, he’s asking for a little extra garlic on the side. That doesn’t come with it normally, but he gets it of course.”
Ashley Walters Taps Giggs On “Take A Pic”
Meanwhile, multi-hyphenate rapper Ashley Walters recently opened up about collaborating with childhood friend Giggs on “Take A Pic.” The song references their days growing up together in Peckham, South London.
“It was a no-brainer to have Giggs on the track,” Walters explained. “We’ve known each other since we were 11 or 12, and to be making music together after all these years feels amazing. He’s always been a huge support, and his presence on the track just feels like a full circle moment.”
R. Kelly has an incurable disease, but it’s not an illness you’d expect, like cancer or AIDS, the imprisoned R&B star confessed during a candid interview from behind bars on the Inmate Tea with A&P podcast.
“Well singing is a beautiful disease that’s uncurable, that’s not going to happen stop singing, right? I don’t care where I’m at long I’m alive, so I’m always singing, I’m always writing.”
While prison walls confine his body, Kelly’s passion for music continues to thrive, fueling creativity that flows unchecked, even from behind bars.
“I’ve written like 25 albums since I’ve been in here,” R. Kelly told the podcast. And despite a lengthy prison sentence, there is still a huge demand for the music R. Kelly is writing.
As of early 2025, his Spotify catalog surpassed a staggering 3 billion total streams, averaging more than 782,000 listens daily. With a robust collection of 391 tracks on the platform—including 234 solo songs—the R&B legend’s#### “Ignition” alone amassed over 645 million streams, pulling in roughly 101,872 plays per day.
The steady stream of royalties has translated directly into real-world financial gains, allowing Kelly to chip away at hefty legal judgments.
In December 2024, revenue from Kelly’s extensive music catalog successfully covered a $500,000 federal judgment, including $379,649.90 specifically for restitution payments.
“I thank you guys for continuing to believe obviously in me and support my music, support who I am as an artist, and you know, I really do appreciate that,” R. Kelly said of the continued support, which has enabled him to earn a sizable income even while incarcerated.
R. Kelly’s legal troubles, however, remain severe.
Initially sentenced on June 29, 2022, to 30 years in prison for racketeering and sex trafficking in New York, R. Kelly later received an additional 20-year sentence in Chicago on child pornography and enticement charges on Feb. 23, 2023.
Nineteen of those years run concurrently with his original sentence, adding just one more year to his incarceration.
Last month, a federal appeals court upheld Kelly’s earlier convictions and the 30-year sentence from the New York trial, confirming he’ll remain incarcerated potentially into his mid-80s.
Despite the recent legal setbacks, Kelly remains optimistic about his future.
“Right now, I’m just working on getting out, getting back to what it is God gave me my talent to do, right? That’s what I’m waiting on right now, that’s what I’m working on right now.”
It was a cold winter day when Roxanne Shanté stepped into WonWorld Studios. Draped in a stylish camouflage coat, she was ready to talk. She arrived with just her publicist, no entourage, no distractions—just an artist in her purest form. The legendary battle rapper, Hip-Hop icon and now Grammy Award winner exuded warmth, maturity and confidence as she sat down with Chuck “Jigsaw” Creekmur and DJ Thoro, two longtime fans who couldn’t wait to chop it up with one of the culture’s pioneers.
With decades in the game, Shanté came prepared to drop gems about her historic career, from battling UTFO in Hip-Hop’s first recorded battle to being a pioneer for female MCs, all while navigating the male-dominated industry. She spoke candidly about the evolution of Hip-Hop, its newfound respect at the Grammys and how she, after all these years, finally attended and won. She also revealed untold stories—like living with Rick James for six months and being the first to put the word “jawn” on wax.
Never one to hold back, she even offered her take on the Drake versus Kendrick battle, detailing exactly how Drake should’ve responded after the Super Bowl. And when it comes to real battles, Shanté made it clear: she’s never lost—not in rap, not in life, not even to breast cancer, which she beat twice.
Through laughter, wisdom and some jaw-dropping moments, Roxanne Shanté proves once again why she remains one of Hip-Hop’s greatest minds. Read on (or watch the video for the real deal) as she breaks down her legacy, greatest accomplishments and ongoing mission to uplift the next generation through her foundation, Mind Over Matter.
Chuck “Jigsaw” Creekmur: Roxanne Shanté, welcome! You just won a Grammy for Lifetime Achievement. First time at the Grammys, right?
Roxanne Shanté: Yes! First time ever. And I left with a Grammy. Perfect timing. Any other time wouldn’t have been my time.
DJ Thoro: Hip-Hop used to be anti-Grammy. Now, the culture has shifted. What changed?
Roxanne Shanté: Hip-Hop is in everything now. Gospel, rock, country—you name it. The Grammys had no choice but to recognize it. And Hip-Hop finally understands its strength.
Chuck “Jigsaw” Creekmur: You saw how they disrespected Babyface on the red carpet. What’s your take?
Roxanne Shanté: It was ridiculous. They overlooked a legend! That’s because today’s media lacks etiquette. A whole generation wasn’t taught how to conduct themselves. They just out here chasing clout.
DJ Thoro: Speaking of legacy, you were involved in the first Hip-Hop battle on record. You versus UTFO. That doesn’t get mentioned enough.
Roxanne Shanté: Yep, 40 years ago. That was the start of battle rap as we know it. Now we got Drake versus Kendrick. They owe me a check!
DJ Thoro: If you were advising Drake, how should he have responded at the Super Bowl?
Roxanne Shanté: He should’ve bought a commercial. Right after Kendrick’s performance, he should’ve been sitting at home, with diamond plaques behind him, lawsuit papers on the table, watching the show. Then he looks at the camera and says, “Yeah, you’re right. They not like us. But you’re not like me.” Boom! That would’ve shifted the conversation.
DJ Thoro: Have you ever lost a battle?
Roxanne Shanté: Never. Not even with cancer. I beat breast cancer twice. My oncologist told me it would be the biggest battle of my life. I said, “I haven’t lost one yet.”
Chuck “Jigsaw” Creekmur: What’s your biggest accomplishment?
Roxanne Shanté: My children. I raised them my way. No bedtime, clubbing with me at 2 a.m. But they turned out great. My son manages me, and my daughter’s in law enforcement. I must’ve done something right!
DJ Thoro: Let’s talk about your Netflix biopic. How accurate was it?
Roxanne Shanté: I was on set every day. We actually toned it down. Some parts of my life were too raw for the world. But I needed fathers and mothers to watch it and reflect. Like, “Am I putting too much pressure on my child?”
Chuck “Jigsaw” Creekmur: You lived with Rick James for six months?!
Roxanne Shanté: Yep! We only recorded for two days. The rest was just… living with Rick James. It was wild. Don Cornelius shut us down on Soul Train when he found out I was 17. He didn’t like Hip-Hop. And I don’t think he liked Rick either!
DJ Thoro: You were the first to use the word “jawn” on record. Philly needs to cut you a check!
Roxanne Shanté: Facts! My career started in Philly with Pop Art Records. I picked up the slang and dropped “jawn” in a song. Now, everybody says it!
Chuck “Jigsaw” Creekmur: How do you see your legacy among women in Hip-Hop?
Roxanne Shanté: I was surrounded by men. There weren’t many women in my circle. And I never wanted to battle female MCs. I knew they couldn’t win, and I didn’t want to do that to them.
Chuck “Jigsaw” Creekmur: Any regrets?
Roxanne Shanté: Just one. And I’ve never told this story. I was in the streets, hustling. A van pulled up, trying to snatch young girls. I pushed some girls out—to save myself. I knew I was going to be somebody. That haunts me. But I was in survival mode.
Chuck “Jigsaw” Creekmur: Damn. That’s deep. You do a lot of work with young girls now. Talk about your foundation.
Roxanne Shanté: My husband and I started Mind Over Matter. We mentor girls from ninth grade through high school, helping them make better choices. I want to be the person I needed when I was their age.
DJ Thoro: What do you think about Hip-Hop today?
Roxanne Shanté: I love it. Artists now own their publishing, control their careers. Back in the day, we got robbed. But Hip-Hop survived. And it’s thriving. I’m proud.
Chuck “Jigsaw” Creekmur: You’re a winner. And you stay winning!
Roxanne Shanté: Thank you! Because I’ve learned: being bitter only chases the good people away. And I’ve been around bad people long enough. Now, I’m only making room for the good ones.
Dr. Umar Goes Off On Alleged Daughter in Fiery Rant – But Is He Hiding Something?
Dr. Umar Johnson, is known as the premier Pan-Africanist, but he’s found himself at the center of a social media firestorm. A young woman hit TikTok with claims alleging that the “Prince of Pan-Africanism” is an absentee father. Dr. Umar…a deadbeat dad? We have to talk about it! Dr. Umar did not take that one laying down. He went off.
Right now she’s a mystery; an unnamed Philly lady that insists she’s not here for clout. She just wants answers. According to her, she reached out to another woman she believes is her sister, only to be left with more questions. She then takes to social media to drag Umar for his so-called hypocrisy, essentially saying, “How are you an advocate for Black families while allegedly neglecting you’re own?”
“He has not been in my life,” she claimed. “Again, I’m not making this video to bash him. I’m making this video to state facts. You can’t get on Instagram and social media and portray to be an activist and talk about how Black kings need to be with Black women, but you’re not even in your Black daughter’s life.”
There is more.
Allegedly, there’s DNA test paperwork confirming Dr. Umar as her father.
The good doctor didn’t waste any time striking back.
“If you mind my personal business, I don’t care who you are,” Umar declared. “I strongly recommend you mind your business because if you don’t, you will be blocked.”
He denied everything, but he went to another level. There was an interesting invitation extended to the young woman and her family.
“Get daughter smurf, momma smurf, and then poppa smurf, and we gonna have a nice conversation in front of the world,” he said. “Let’s get to the bottom of this, and I’m gonna bring white man paperwork. So baby smurf, please get momma smurf, and poppa smurf is gonna pull up.”
Smurfs are cute and lovable. I don’t like this. And what is “white man paperwork?” I hope we are not doing a Trump-like denial!
Karl Jordan Jr. survived a violent gang-related stabbing at Brooklyn’s infamous Metropolitan Detention Center (MDC) on February 22, leaving the convicted killer of Run-DMC legend Jam Master Jay hospitalized in serious condition.
AllHipHop has uncovered details surrounding the bloody riot at MDC, describing a grim scene that erupted inside the notoriously troubled federal jail.
Karl Jordan Jr., already serving time after being convicted alongside Ronald “Tinard” Washington in 2024 for the 2002 murder of JMJ, was reportedly stabbed 18 times during a brutal clash between rival gangs.
Sources revealed that tensions had simmered for weeks between Jordan’s gang, the Bloods and a Dominican gang known as the Trinitarios.
The animosity exploded into violence, resulting in Jordan suffering two collapsed lungs and requiring hospitalization. Four other inmates were also wounded during the chaos, though Jordan’s injuries were the most severe.
After emergency medical intervention, Jordan’s condition was reported as stable. Federal officials quickly placed the MDC on lockdown, suspending all inmate visitations for at least one month to restore order and investigate the attack.
Further scrutiny revealed that weapons were allegedly smuggled into the facility, hidden cleverly inside food packages. As a result, federal prosecutors moved swiftly, charging 23 inmates in connection with the melee and contraband operations, including podcaster Taxstone.
The MDC has faced intense scrutiny and controversy over the past year, with multiple violent incidents and security breaches. Just months before, the facility made headlines after authorities conducted a high-profile raid following the incarceration of disgraced music mogul Sean “Diddy” Combs.
Diddy’s incarceration at MDC sparked an ongoing legal fight between his attorneys and federal prosecutors after authorities confiscated notebooks from his jail cell, alleging possible evidence of criminal activity.
The dispute over the notebooks triggered legal motions and court hearings, putting MDC once again in the national spotlight for security lapses and inmate safety concerns.
Jordan’s stabbing is just the latest chapter in MDC’s troubling history of violence and mismanagement.

Joe Rogan Laughs Off Kanye’s S####### Fiasco as Catfish Story Blows Up
Kanye West landed in the headlines again after podcast king Joe Rogan praised his marketing genius and revealed that West fell victim to an embarrassing catfish incident during Antonio Brown’s recent appearance on “The Joe Rogan Experience.”
During the blunt conversation with former NFL star Antonio Brown, Rogan dove into topics ranging from mental health struggles to life after professional football.
However, things took an interesting turn when Rogan expressed admiration for West’s controversial yet undeniably effective promotional tactics despite a recent backlash over s#######-themed apparel on West’s website.
“He’s killing it, still. His music is killing it. This new s### is killing it,” Rogan enthusiastically noted before addressing the controversy head-on.
“I wish he didn’t sell s####### T-shirts on his website, but he just had to f### with people. He does that to f### with people. That’s part of the fun of being Kanye,” Joe Rogan said, laughing hysterically.
Rogan elaborated on West’s provocative moves, highlighting the deliberate shock factor behind the rapper’s strategies.
“He’s getting people talk about him. He puts an ad on the Super Bowl. You go to the website he’s selling S####### T-shirts like what f###. It’s so crazy,” Rogan observed.
Despite disapproving of the merchandise’s inflammatory nature, Rogan couldn’t deny West’s musical prowess, adding, “But the music is undeniable, over and over and over again. It’s undeniable. Every album, he doesn’t have one dud. They’re all bangers.”
Yet, the conversation took another turn when Joe Rogan addressed West’s recent claim that he’d soon appear on the popular podcast.
According to Rogan, Kanye West had mistakenly believed he was in contact with the host himself, only to find out he’d been communicating with an imposter.
Clarifying the bizarre situation publicly, Rogan addressed West directly on social media, stating, “Hey, \@kanyewest, I don’t know who you’re talking to, but that’s not me.”
Social media users couldn’t resist poking fun at the rapper’s catfish calamity. Twitter users quickly flooded timelines with memes, jokes, and playful disbelief.
“Imagine being so cooked you have an entire conversation with yourself, post it to the world, and try to pass it off as Joe Rogan,” one user said while another wrote: “What if @kanyewest planned this to get @joerogan attention have him feel bed for him and put him on just to clear the air. Preety brilliant on kanye’s part just maybe.”
Never would’ve happened if @nero was still on team 😫 bring him back ye
The relationship between DDG and Halle Bailey, who share a son named Halo together, appears to be in a rough spot. During a Friday night (March 7) livestream, the YouTube personality/rapper opened up about the former couple’s coparenting situation and suggested it’s essentially non-existent.
“It don’t have nothing to do with me working, by the way,” he said. “I’m not going to air out her business, but me and her has not been together for a long time. […] I just never got on the internet and said nothing.
“I’m really just coming on this m########### as just a dad that don’t know what to do at this point. I been dealing with this s### since he been born, damn near. I really feel like I’m a f###### nanny at this point. The nanny has been able to have my son more than me.”
He added elsewhere, “If I wanna come get my son I should be able to get my son… I can’t say one word because she tell me she’s the primary parent.”
DDG says Halle Bailey has not let him see his son Halo for over 3 days and he has no permission do travel with him or keep him longer. Halle Bailey has recently kicked DDG from her LA home telling him to leave Halo alone. #freehalopic.twitter.com/2sd3b7sz0m
Bailey abruptly announced a social media break following DDG’s comments and revealed she and Halo have been sick.
“Good morning, Snap,” she began. “I just wanted to come on here and tell you guys why I’m not posting. Me and Halo are very sick. We do not feel good at all. So, sorry I haven’t been posting snaps, but I’ve just been using all my energy to take care of my baby and myself.
“Any mommies have any tips for this cold? […] Any other tips would be welcome and needed. Love you guys.”
Halle Bailey became a trending Twitter (X) topic on Saturday morning, with many people slamming the father of her child. Comments like “the dumbest thing halle ever did was get herself involved with DDG” and “Cardi B, Keke Palmer and Halle Bailey is a prime example of stop getting pregnant by losers” started making the rounds, making it crystal clear how the majority of people feel about DDG.
Halle Bailey and DDG’s relationship began in early 2022, with the couple first connecting through social media. Bailey, known for her role in The Little Mermaid, had been a fan of DDG’s work for years before they started dating. They went public with their romance in March 2022 and made their red carpet debut at the BET Awards in June of the same year.
Throughout their relationship, they appeared supportive of each other, attending numerous events together and expressing their love in interviews. They welcomed Halo in 2023 but split in October 2024.
“Dear friends and supporters after much reflection and heartfelt conversations Halle and I have decided to go our separate ways,” he wrote at the time. “This decision was not easy, but we believe it’s the best path for both of us. I cherish the time we spent together and the love we’ve shared.
Despite the changes in our relationship, our love for each other remains deep and true. We are still best friends and adore each other as we focus on our individual journeys and our roles as co-parent we cherish the bond we built and the beautiful moments we’ve shared as we navigate to transition we asked for your understanding and support.”
Residents in Forest Hill, Texas, are feeling safer today after authorities apprehended the second suspect accused of the brutal murder of G$ Lil Ronnie and his 5-year-old daughter R’Mani.
Jakobie Russell, 21, voluntarily turned himself in to U.S. Marshals this wee,k accompanied by his attorney.
He was immediately booked into Tarrant County Jail, facing charges of capital murder. If convicted, Russell and his alleged accomplice could face the death penalty under Texas law.
The tragic double shooting occurred Monday, March 3, at a typically quiet local car wash in Forest Hill, a community not accustomed to violence of this magnitude.
Forest Hill Police Chief David Hernandez acknowledged the potential connection between G$ Lil Ronnie’s music career and the violence, noting that investigators are carefully examining his lyrics and online presence for possible clues.
“Based on the music industry that he’s a part of, it is all part of the investigation,” Hernandez explained. “Everything that’s being put out is being reviewed and analyzed by the Texas Rangers, so we don’t have any specific motive at this time.”
Authorities have not yet publicly detailed how the rapper’s music may have contributed to the tragedy, but Hernandez confirmed that the investigation remains active and detectives are exploring all possible angles.
The first suspect, also charged with capital murder, was previously arrested, and Russell’s surrender completes the search for the two men authorities believe are responsible for the horrifying crime.
I don’t know how you all do this. Don’t you get tired of the drama? Don’t you get sick and tired of the mess? Comedian Red Grant got tossed in the mix originally reserved for Katt Williams. He called Cam a liar and said he was rewriting an incident that happened back in the day.
Red said “Cam’ron, come on bro. You lying like sh#t. lol I was there funny face boy. Stop playing with us, you’re doing great in life, you don’t need to mess around over here. We laughing and Joaning over here. Keep it pushing.”
I cannot tell you all how much stuff I hear and do NOT say. So, I am not going to say much here either. But, in the midst of Kanye’s craziness, some real stuff is going on. One of his closest confidants is reportedly experiencing real health issues.
Why is this important? I am not sure, but I can tell you that a lot of folks in Hip-Hop are going through this. We mostly notice when it is a high profile person but not always. Some of these people are highly impactful and culturally relevant. So, that is the rumor. I got this one the same day I heard that D’Wayne Wiggins had died. Of course, I did not put a rumor about death up. That would be wack of me. It was also not true, so keep him in your prayers. Also, keep Kanye’s brother in your prayers too.
Speaking of prayers!
Shawn J of Field Mob does not seem to be doing too well. If you were around in the early 2000s, Field Mob was one of those groups that put it down after the Dungeon Family’s era had passed. They were representing the Dirty South for a newer era. But something went awry. Check this out:
Damn, bro! I won’t say all of what is wrong, but he has been through some stuff. We do not yet know what happened here, but we know he went to jail.
Renowned rapper, singer, songwriter, and podcast host Sy Ari Da Kid unveils the first visual, “A Block Away From The Corner Store,” from his latest rap album, The Last Shadow In The Shade.
“We filmed this on the northside of Atlanta, right in the neighborhood! It captures that classic vibe of hanging out on your front porch or outside your building, just steps away from the local corner store. Walking through the streets with no worries, a cup of noodles in hand—this is as real and raw as it gets. For those who know, they’ll definitely relate,” Sy Ari explains.
The Last Shadow In The Shade is a must-hear album of 2025. The project is the final chapter in a trilogy dedicated to those who’ve felt overlooked in the industry. “[This was] created for those who’ve often felt overshadowed in this industry,” says Sy Ari. “I want listeners to feel my passion and experiences—navigating a competitive landscape where the spotlight isn’t always on us, yet we persevere, forge our own paths and overcome the challenges ahead.”
Built on soulful samples and handpicked collaborations, the album is a reflection of shared struggles and triumphs. Guest features include Benny The Butcher, CyHi Da Prynce, Freeway, Nick Grant, Gillie, Vega7 The Ronin, and Nu Jerzey Twork—each adding their unique perspective to the storytelling.
Amber Rose is spilling the tea on her past with Kanye West and according to her word, his obsession with dressing his women in ultra-revealing outfits isn’t just about style.
During her explosive interview with Shannon Sharpe on the Club Shay Shay Podcast, Amber claimed that Kanye “for sure” controls how his women dress. She even went as far as alleging he did the same things he’s doing to Bianca Censori to herself and his ex-wife Kim Kardashian. According to Rose, Ye deliberately puts his partners in risqué outfits because he gets off on the attention they receive from other men.
“He wants other men to want his woman,” Amber Rose said. “That’s what he’s into. He likes that men are drooling over his woman… He wants all his friends to want his girlfriend. He wants everybody, when you walk in a room, that his girlfriend or wife is the most desirable. She’s the baddest b**** in the room.”
But it wasn’t just talk—Amber had firsthand experience of Kanye’s fixation on this. She recalled a particularly distressing incident during their time together in Italy (ironically, the same country where Ye’s current wife, Bianca, caught heat for her barely-there outfits). Rose said she was forced to wear an outfit so revealing that it left her in tears!
“I cried,” she recalled. “I remember crying and arguing with him. I was in Italy or Paris or something, and I remember being like, ‘I don’t want to wear this.’”
However, Kanye wasn’t hearing it. Instead, he dismissed her concerns with his signature bravado.
“’You don’t understand this fashion—I’m a genius,” he allegedly told her.
Despite her discomfort, Rose ultimately wore the outfit, only to be roasted by the internet and ogled by men, which, according to her, was exactly what Kanye wanted.
“The guys loved it,” she admitted. “I was like, ‘Oh my God, I really just don’t…’”
Looking back, Amber made it clear that she wouldn’t let any man dictate her wardrobe like that again.
“I used to hate to dress like a wh***,” she said, adding that when Kanye wasn’t around, she would raid his closet for baggy clothes to rebel against his fashion demands.
Fast-forward to earlier this year, Kanye’s preferences similarly attracted scrutiny from a number of social media users. Last January, Ye went viral over a leaked verse from an unreleased track for Future’s We Don’t Trust You album which seemingly align with Rose’s assessment of what makes him tick. The lyrics had fans in a frenzy, with many believing he outed himself as a cuckold!
“My whip a what the f* / Her friend don’t wanna leave / Temptations, David Ruffin / Come f* my wife with me,” Kanye raps on the track.
Social media users instantly erupted, accusing Ye of admitting to a wild fetish. While some argued he was simply talking about a ménage à trois, others were convinced that the Vultures rapper had finally “confirmed the cuck allegations.”
“Kanye lost Kim, Donda, his family, his billionaire status for some time… just to be a cuck,” one fan wrote. Another added, “He’s not beating the cuck allegations.”
With Amber Rose’s shocking revelations and Kanye’s latest eyebrow-raising lyrics, it seems like Ye’s obsession with his women’s desirability isn’t just about fashion—it might go way deeper than that!
A former Hartford Public High School student is taking legal action against her school district, claiming she was failed by the system and left unable to read or write—despite graduating with honors.
According to a report from The New York Daily Mail, Aleysha Ortiz, who spent 12 years in the Hartford public school system, addressed the city council in May 2024, revealing her story. She explained that she had always relied on technology to help her understand schoolwork, but the underlying issue was never properly addressed.
“I decided, they had 12 years,” Ortiz told CNN. “Now it’s my time.”
According to the lawsuit, Ortiz exhibited difficulties with letter, sound and number recognition as early as first grade. The failure to intervene properly led to behavioral issues, as she felt increasingly frustrated and left behind. By sixth grade, Ortiz was reading at a kindergarten or first-grade level, yet she continued progressing through the system. In her sophomore year at Hartford Public High School, Tilda Santiago was assigned as her special education teacher and case manager.
Ortiz alleges Santiago bullied, harassed and even stalked her, leading to the educator’s removal from the role. However, Ortiz still did not receive the help she desperately needed. Her mother, Carmen Cruz, attempted to advocate for her despite the language barrier, as she primarily speaks Spanish. She said she trusted the teachers, believing they had her daughter’s best interests in mind.
“I didn’t know English very well, I didn’t know the rules of the schools,” Cruz said. “There were a lot of things that they would tell me, and I let myself go by what the teachers would tell me because I didn’t understand anything.”
By 11th grade, Ortiz began advocating for herself and pushed to be tested for dyslexia. However, it wasn’t until just one month before graduation that she finally started the testing process. The evaluation was only completed on the last day of school, confirming that Ortiz was indeed dyslexic and required explicit instruction in phonics, fluency and reading comprehension.
School district officials reportedly offered Ortiz the option to defer her diploma and receive intensive support, but she declined, feeling it was too little, too late.
“While Hartford Public Schools cannot comment on pending litigation, we remain deeply committed to meeting the full range of needs our students bring with them when they enter our schools—and helping them reach their full potential,” the district said in a statement to CNN.
Ortiz is now attending the University of Connecticut as a full-time student—although, she has not attended classes since Feb. 1 due to mental health treatment. She aspires to be a writer, someday and explained that the tools she relies on, such as text-to-speech and speech-to-text apps to complete assignments gave her “a voice that I never thought I had.”
Hip-hop is more than just music—it’s a cultural movement that influences fashion, art, and even gaming. From arcade battles in the Bronx to modern-day online slots with hip-hop themes, the genre has shaped the way people play and interact with digital entertainment.
With gaming becoming a dominant force in pop culture, it’s no surprise that hip-hop artists and fans are embracing everything from video games toHigh Roller’s online real money casino games and slots. The crossover between these industries is a testament to hip-hop’s global influence, where rhythm, strategy, and creativity all come into play.
Hip-Hop and Gaming: A Longstanding Connection
The relationship between hip-hop and gaming goes back decades. In the early 90s, arcade culture was thriving in urban communities, with hip-hop music often setting the backdrop for competitive gameplay. Titles like Def Jam Vendetta and NBA Street brought hip-hop artists and soundtracks into the gaming world, making it clear that music and gaming were intertwined.
Today, major hip-hop stars like Travis Scott, Drake, and Snoop Dogg have taken this connection even further by investing in gaming platforms, streaming on Twitch, and collaborating with game developers. Hip-hop’s integration into gaming is no longer just about background music—it’s a driving force in shaping digital entertainment experiences.
The Rise of Hip-Hop-Inspired Casino Games
As social gaming evolves, hip-hop’s presence is expanding beyond traditional video games. Online casino games and slots now incorporate hip-hop aesthetics, featuring themes inspired by rap icons, street culture, and urban nightlife.
For example, certain slot games use hip-hop beats, graffiti-styled visuals, and even celebrity collaborations to bring the culture to life on the reels. This not only attracts fans of the genre but also enhances the gaming experience with immersive soundtracks and high-energy gameplay.
Hip-hop’s bass-heavy beats, lyrical flow, and high-energy sound create an atmosphere that heightens the excitement of playing. Whether it’s a slot game with a hip-hop-inspired theme or a high-stakes gaming session accompanied by a rap playlist, the right soundtrack can make all the difference.
Gaming as a New Avenue for Hip-Hop Expression
With artists frequently collaborating with video game developers, hip-hop is finding new ways to reach audiences through gaming. Some of the most notable examples include:
Travis Scott’s virtual concert in Fortnite, which attracted over 12 million players.
Snoop Dogg’s character in Call of Duty, bringing his signature style to the battlefield.
Drake’s investment in esports and gaming platforms, proving hip-hop’s role in the industry’s future.
These crossovers don’t just expose hip-hop to a wider audience—they also make gaming more culturally diverse and inclusive.
The Future of Hip-Hop and Gaming
As gaming continues to grow, hip-hop’s influence will only deepen. From customized in-game experiences to more hip-hop-inspired slot games, the fusion of these industries is just getting started. For fans of both hip-hop and gaming, this crossover means more interactive and culturally relevant experiences, where the energy of rap music meets the thrill of digital play. Whether it’s in an open-world game, an esports tournament, or an online casino, hip-hop will always be part of how we play.
T-Pain unknowingly witnessed a historic but unfortunate moment during a live stream when SpaceX’s latest Starship rocket launch ended in failure.
The “Bartender” singer was casually engaging with his chat when he noticed something unusual in the sky, leading to an unfiltered, real-time reaction to the incident. T-Pain shared a brief clip on Instagram capturing the moment the rocket’s flight path came into view for he and his wife during their maritime getaway.
“We saw the SpaceX launch fail from the yacht!!! That was crazy,” T-Pain wrote in the caption of the post.
In the video itself, T-Pain’s demeanor teetered back and forth between genuine excitement to concern once the weight of the situation was uncovered by his viewers.
“Okay, what the f### is this?” T-Pain asked as he spotted the spectacle. “Chat, what the f### is going on over there?”
His curiosity quickly turned into recognition as he realized what he was watching.
“Oh, is that a SpaceX launch?” he questioned. “It look like a launch… Yeah, I think it is a launch.”
At first, he marveled at the rocket’s speed and its apparent success.
“It’s moving fast as s###,” he remarked.
As he continued to observe, he noted key moments of the launch process.
“I’m not moving the camera, chat… Oh, you can see the boosters falling off and everything,” he said. “Oh, there’s boosters falling off and s###… Yo, look at that f###### s### falling off.”
However, the awe-factor quickly diminished as he listened to updates about the ship’s stability.
“Yo, look at all that s###… Yo, this s### is moving so fast, bro,” he said.
Soon after T-Pain’s comments, the launch feed confirmed what had happened. “And at this point, we’ve essentially lost contact with the ship… We’re no longer receiving telemetry at this moment,” the broadcast stated.
T-Pain could hardly believe what he was witnessing.
“Yo, that’s crazy! Yo, that’s nuts,” he said in shock. “Wait, is it coming back down? Hey, it’s going down, right? Where’s the rest of it? Where’s the one that keeps going?”
Moments later, he received confirmation of the explosion from his stream viewers. “They said it did blow up…,” his wife said, to which T-Pain replied, “Oh, it did blow up? That wasn’t normal. Did we just catch a f###### SpaceX crash?”
T-Pain and his viewers weren’t the only ones caught off guard by the dramatic turn of events. SpaceX’s Starship, in its eighth test launch on Thursday, successfully made it into space before experiencing a critical failure. According to TMZ, the SpaceX crew lost “attitude control” of the ship and only two of its six engines were operating properly.
As debris from the failed launch began to fall, air traffic controllers scrambled to reroute flights away from impacted areas over the Bahamas. The incident drew comparisons to another test launch failure in January, where debris rained down in a similar location.
While SpaceX has yet to pinpoint the exact cause of the “rapid unscheduled disassembly,” as they described it, the mishap is unlikely to sit well with Elon Musk. The company will likely conduct a thorough investigation, but for now, it’s clear that this latest launch attempt fell far short of expectations.
Taxstone allegedly masterminded an old-school smuggling scheme involving contraband and a rope tossed out of a window at MDC-Brooklyn prison, authorities have revealed.
The popular podcast personality, whose real name is Daryl Campbell, faces accusations alongside co-defendants Ian Diez, Jonathan Guerrero, Abel Mora and Mayovanex Rodriguez for allegedly hatching a plot to bring illegal items into the Metropolitan Detention Center in Brooklyn.
According to federal prosecutors, between April and June 2024, Taxstone utilized an illegally obtained cell phone from within MDC-Brooklyn to coordinate with accomplices outside the facility.
Authorities obtained voice recordings allegedly featuring Taxstone clearly describing a throwback smuggling technique: tossing a makeshift “line” out of a prison window to allow conspirators on the outside to attach prohibited items, which would then be reeled back into the institution.
The plot unraveled dramatically on June 30, 2024, when Diez, Guerrero, Mora and Rodriguez allegedly attempted to execute Taxstone’s plan.
Correctional staff spotted the group pulling a rope into the recreation room of their cell block.
When officers intervened, they discovered a cache of contraband dangling at the rope’s end, including marijuana, suboxone strips, a scalpel, cigarettes, lighters and a cellphone charger.
Federal prosecutors charge the defendants with conspiracy to smuggle contraband, an offense carrying a maximum penalty of up to 10 years behind bars if convicted. Assistant U.S. Attorneys Russell Noble and Elizabeth D’Antonio are leading the prosecution effort.
Taxstone, once a prominent voice in the Hip-Hop podcasting scene, initially rose to fame through his frank and gritty commentary on the popular “Tax Season” podcast.
His career took a dramatic turn in 2016 following a deadly altercation.
In January 2017, Taxstone was arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of Ronald McPhatter, a bodyguard for Brooklyn rapper Troy Ave, during a backstage confrontation at a T.I. concert at Irving Plaza in Manhattan.

Congressman Al Green has revealed his plans to file articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump over his recent conduct.
During Donald Trump’s joint session speech to Congress on March 4, Rep. Al Green, D-Texas, was forcibly removed after voicing his opposition to the president’s claims of having a political mandate. Days later on March 7, the Republican-controlled house voted to censure Green over the incident. Now, Green is speaking out about the experience in a new interview with TMZ, during which he has revealed his plans to retaliate politically.
“My intentionality was to walk out,” Green said, providing context for his actions during his tense exchange with Trump. “I gathered my coat, I had my cane, and I was going to make my departure.”
Congressman #AlGreen says he's firing back at #POTUS … announcing plans to file articles of impeachment.
However, as Trump doubled down on his claim of having a mandate, Green said he was “caught up in the moment.” Turning toward the president, he shouted, “You don’t have a mandate to cut Medicaid.”
Green revealed that House Speaker Mike Johnson attempted to silence him with repeated admonishments. When he refused to back down, he was ultimately escorted out of the chamber. Despite the removal, Green said, “The people who escorted me out were very kind. I hold no animus toward the speaker. He did what the rules required.”
While Green was forced out, Trump continued his speech, taking jabs at his opponents.
“The president, that evening, called the Democratic members of Congress lunatics on national TV,” Green said. “He did so, and he has not been reprimanded. He won’t be censured. He uses incivility to take advantage of our civility.”
One of the most shocking moments of the night, according to Green, was when Trump insulted a sitting senator by referring to her as “Pocahontas.” Green did not hold back in condemning the remark.
“I know who the senator is,” he said. “I have such great respect for her. This was the president using his incivility against civility. He does this quite often.”
In the wake of his removal, speculation has grown that the Freedom Caucus may seek to strip Green of his committee assignments as retribution. When asked about how the move may affect him, Green responded defiantly.
“I am here to serve the people of the Ninth Congressional District,” he said. “I would hope that they wouldn’t. I would not agree with it.”
Green then made a bombshell announcement—he is preparing to introduce articles of impeachment against Trump. “But if they do, it’ll give me more time to work on my articles of impeachment.”
He doubled down on his determination when pressed about whether or not he was seriously considering the move.
“I am absolutely going to do it,” he said. “This level of incivility emanating from the presidency, much of it in policy, is something we cannot tolerate,” he declared.
He went on to argue that if former President Barack Obama had conducted himself in a similar manner, he would have been impeached without hesitation.
“He is a Goliath, but there are 435 Davids in Congress,” he said. “I’m one of them, and I’m going to bring articles of impeachment.”
While the articles will not be directly based on Trump’s speech, he made it clear that the president’s pattern of behavior has reached a breaking point.
“What he said to the members and to the senator was unacceptable, and that’s incivility,” he said. “We cannot allow him to just continue to step on us like that and not have some reasonable, righteous retort.”
