Blackground Records Honors Aaliyah With Global Projection Campaign

Aaliyah Haughton, 22, was tragically killed in a plane crash on August 25, 2001. Twenty years later, fans of the Detroit-raised R&B/Hip Hop legend are still celebrating her life, legacy, and music.

Blackground Records 2.0 partnered with EMPIRE to curate worldwide wall projections in honor of Aaliyah. The campaign kicked off last night at 8:30 pm in the late “Are You That Somebody?” hitmaker’s hometown.

Detroit will host the Aaliyah projections through today (August 26). Rochelle Riley, Director of Arts and Culture for the City of Detroit, was involved in presenting the special tribute to the Brooklyn-born singer/actress.

The projected sightings campaign will also take place at sundown in the other major American locales of Miami, New York City, Los Angeles, Atlanta, and Chicago. International markets will include London, Berlin, and Amsterdam in Europe.

“On this day 20 years ago, our worlds were completely shattered when we learned that Aaliyah was no longer with us. Life would never be the same,” reads a statement from Blackground Records 2.0 dated August 25, 2021.

The Barry Hankerson-founded label continued, “Aaliyah was a light. A sweet and genuine soul that was such an inspiration to us all. Thank you so much to all of Aaliyah’s fans who continue to keep her legacy alive and inspire people around the world. She will forever be in our hearts.”

In addition to the global projections, Blackground Records 2.0 also recently added Aaliyah’s sophomore album One In A Million to streaming services for the first time. The 1996 studio LP is expected to jump into the Billboard 200 chart’s Top 10 region next week.

The Republic of Haiti was hit by a 7.2 magnitude earthquake on August 14. Twelve days later, the Caribbean nation is still reeling from the devastating national disaster.

According to reports, the death toll has risen to more than 2,200 with over 12,200 people injured and over 50,000 homes destroyed. Atlanta Hip Hop artist Future is looking to provide some assistance to the citizens of Haiti.

Future is scheduled to headline a benefit concert to support relief efforts. Philadelphia-bred recording artist Lil Uzi Vert and friends are also listed as performers for the show.

The charitable event will take place at the Oasis Wynwood in Miami, Florida on Friday, September 3. General admission tickets are on sale at www.tixr.com. Attendees must be 21 or over.

A description for the Miami Benefit Concert For Haiti reads:

This is a benefit concert intended to directly support relief efforts for the people of Haiti following the earthquake which struck on August 14th.  At a magnitude of 7.2, this is the deadliest earthquake and natural disaster of 2021.  Haiti will need significant support and resources from the global community as the human impact of the tragedy continues to unfold.

Haitian Prime Minister/acting President Ariel Henry said his country is “physically and mentally devastated” following the destructive earthquake. Haiti was already dealing with a political crisis after former President Jovenel Moïse was assassinated in the capital city of Port-au-Prince on July 7.

TDE Introduces New Roster Member Ray Vaughn With ‘Peer Pressure’ EP

It appears Pulitzer Prize-winning emcee Kendrick Lamar is close to amicably parting ways with Top Dawg Entertainment. However, the Los Angeles-based record label is not slowing down on presenting fresh talent.

25-year-old Long Beach artist Ray Vaughn is the newest TDE signee. Vaughn’s introduction as part of Anthony “Top Dawg” Tiffith’s record label is accompanied by a 3-track EP titled Peer Pressure.

“I’d love to tell you how I created the project, but to tell you the truth, to revisit the place of brutal honesty these songs came from is a chaotic process,” states Ray Vaughn, “Don’t take me too seriously, honestly, just learn to have fun.”

Peer Pressure hosts the songs “Not Allowed,” “Top Shottas,” and “Tap.” The 8-minute project, released via Top Dawg Entertainment, follows Ray Vaughn dropping his 2019 independent album Idle.

Ray Vaughn’s rise as a recording artist began with his “Freestyle Fridays” video series which originally was just a way for the rhymer to entertain his friends and family. In 2019, he also spit a freestyle over Tsu Surf’s “What if’ instrumental on Bootleg Kev & DJ Hed’s Real 92.3 radio show.

Plus, Vaughn created the theme song for the upcoming animated series The Freak Brothers starring Woody Harrelson, Pete Davidson, Tiffany Haddish, and La La Anthony.

Ray Vaughn is now part of a Top Dawg Entertainment roster that also currently includes Kendrick Lamar, SZA, Jay Rock, Ab-Soul, ScHoolboy Q, Isaiah Rashad, SiR, Lance Skiiiwalker, and Reason.

Flavor Flav Confirms He’s on the New Dre Album and it’s Coming Soon

Dr. Dre has not released an album since 2015’s “Compton” and fans have been waiting for new music! Dre has been working on a project for years now, hoped by fans to be the mythical “Detox.”

The “Detox” album was first touted by Dre way back in 2002 but delayed, reportedly so he could produce for Eminem and 50 Cent. The project was eventually shelved in 2015 with Dre claiming that album sessions failed to meet his expectations.

The little known about the long-awaited album comes from a scattering of interviews over the years, this latest titbit is no different. In an appearance on the “Wild Ride! with Steve-O” podcast, Public Enemy’s Flavor Flav shared some news of the project.

“I was just at Dr. Dre’s house a week and a half ago. One of the best people in the world, man,” he says. “Not only that but I’m honored for him to have me record something at his house for his upcoming album that’s getting ready to come out. That’s big to me, man. C’mon. Flavor Flav on a Dr. Dre album? Man. Word. That’s big to me, bro.”

2021 has seen Dre suffer a brain aneurysm in January and a high-profile divorce from wife Nicole Young. Once released from the hospital, Dre hopped quickly back into the studio to record. Collaborator and fellow producer, Dem Jointz took to his Instagram to announce the news and whipped fans into a frenzy, initially captioning the post “And We Back!! #Detox21.” Curiously, the hashtag has now disappeared. And We Back!! #Detox21.”

The hit producer made headlines earlier this month after his adult daughter, LaTanya Young claimed to be homeless and launched a GoFundMe to raise money for a home for herself and her four children.

Lizzo Talks Drake Reaching Out Over “Rumors” Lyric About Him

“No, I ain’t f### Drake yet,” says Lizzo on her latest single “Rumors” with Cardi B. That line led to fans having a lot of questions about what inspired the singer to mention the OVO Sound leader on the record.

Lizzo was asked about the Drake lyric a few weeks ago. She told Apple Music, “I just thought it would be so funny to say. I have a small relationship with him. He’s very cool. I just feel like women, there are so many times where girls’ names get dropped in songs because they’re fine.”

The subject of not having sex with Drake came up again during Lizzo’s recent interview on Jimmy Kimmel Live! Former One Direction member Niall Horan was filling in for Kimmel as the guest host for the late-night talk show.

“Okay, so the original line was, ‘No, I ain’t f### Niall yet.’ The label said it was a little bit provocative. So I changed it to Drake, a safer bet,” joked Lizzo on the ABC program.

The 3-time Grammy winner added, “I think [Drake has] heard the number four song in the country. I think he’s heard it. Actually, I have heard from Drake, but that’s all I’m going to say on that.”

Lizzo and Cardi B’s “Rumors” opened at #4 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. The song became Lizzo’s highest-debuting entry on the Billboard rankings of the most popular singles in America.

The “Rumors” music video has amassed more than 21 million views on YouTube since it premiered on August 13. The Tanu Muino-directed visuals are still one of the top trending videos in the platform’s music section.

Lil Nas X Announces Release Date For His Debut Album ‘Montero’

Lil Nas X has been a major topic in entertainment news throughout the year for several controversial moments. The 22-year-old rapper is looking to grab more headlines when he drops his debut album next month.

Montero is scheduled to arrive on September 17. The forthcoming 15-track project follows previous Lil Nas X full-length releases such as 2018’s Nasarati mixtape and 2019’s 7 EP.

“Creating this album has been therapy for me. I’ve learned to let go of trying to control people’s perception of who I am, what I can do, and where I will be. I’ve realized the only opinion of me that really matters is my own,” stated Lil Nas X.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CTBRU0IlUli/

The single “Montero (Call Me by Your Name)” was released in March of this year. That song debuted at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and went on to earn 2x-Platinum certification from the Recording Industry Association of America.

Lil Nas X also scored another Top 5 hit in 2021 with “Industry Baby” featuring Jack Harlow. The “Industry Baby” music video caused a lot of commotion when cultural critics, like Boyce Watkins, complained about the male-on-male dancing taking place in the prison-set visual.

Earlier in the year, Lil Nas X was also chastised for his “Montero (Call Me by Your Name)” video using satanic imagery and for selling “Satan Shoes” that reportedly contained real human blood. He caught flack for kissing a man at the BET Awards as well.

Eazy-E Addresses Claims KKK Had a Hit Out on Him in New Docuseries

A new docuseries comes out today surrounding the life and death of Eazy-E. HNHH has obtained exclusive clips from “The Mysterious Death of Eazy-E” including the rapper revealing he was scared for his life. Jerry Heller will appear in the show to address the rumors that he was stealing from the late rapper and N.W.A.

Eazy-E’s daughter, Ebie helped produce the WEtv docuseries exploring little or unknown facts about her father’s career. The show will also investigate the many conspiracies surrounding his death.

HNHH has two exclusive clips involving Eazy-E and N.W.A.’s manager, Jerry Heller, as well as allegations that federal authorities were aware of racist organizations calling for Eazy’s death.

In the first of HNHH’s exclusive clips, Jerry Heller and journalist Jasmine Simpkins discuss the well-established rumors that Jerry allegedly stole money from the group while he was working with the group. They play audio from Ice Cube claiming that the reason Jerry was fired was that “the finances wasn’t right.”

The show also examines allegations that federal authorities were aware of racist organizations calling for Eazy’s death. In the second clip, Jasmine listens to Eazy-E’s last interview. He discloses that the Ku Klux Klan and skinheads had strategically put hits out on his and Rodney King’s lives. “They wanted to start a race war. I was one person that people probably would care about if something was to happen to him.”

The interviewer then asks Eazy if the feds let him know that there were threats against him like they did with Martin Luther King Jr. and the First A.M.E. Church. “The F.B.I. didn’t warn me,” the rapper answered.

“The Mysterious Death of Eazy-E” airs on WEtv on Thursday, August 26

Cuban Linx Presents Paperwork On Fat Joe?

Fat Joe and Cuban Linx have no love between them, whatsoever.

However, they do have Big Pun. Check this out before I get into the horrific details.

As I stated, Joe and Cuban are not cool at all, but what has recently transpired will forever have them at odds. Star broke the “news” and Cuban reposted it.

“Fat joe exposed on snitching charges .. big shout out to star for reporting the truth and keeping it 💯 percent across the board!!! Now you might understand why I couldn’t get along with that animal but I guess let’s wait for the authenticity of this here paperwork..but like I said I’m just gonna sit back and watch the pale beluga whale get Brought in to shore by the rest of the fisherman!! 🙅🏽‍♂️😎💯 @troitorain

Now…what?

As I said before, I tend to leave all the street stuff to the experts. I am not one to poke my nose in places it does not belong. On top of that, we have a situation where Cuban and Star (the infamous radio host) have presented a case that PERHAPS the one and only Fat Joe is one that cooperated with the authorities. NOW…we law-abiding citizens are not in question. We are square. We don’t do crimes, we don’t have razors under the tongue and we have never sold drugs. We are “allowed” to talk to cops and are not considered snitches. Unlike, say 6ix9ine, we did not turn our friends in to save our skin. Soooooooo………..what do YOU ALL think of this?

Joseph Antonio Cartegena allegedly told the fuzz he was a crack dealer in The Bronx and then fingered another man that committed a murder as a solid for another crew. Needless to say, this is a bad look. According to Star’s report, Joe also revealed who conceived the plan of murder! This is some serious SH!T! Now, on top of all that, Fat Joe is considered one of the most respected guys in Hip-Hop! He recently had a birthday party that had everybody there! I wish I was there!

How will this impact Fat Joe’s street cred? Does it matter? Is it even true? Will Fat Joe respond? Well, this is NUTS! STILL in this era of photoshop and capping…could it all be a fraud!?!

What Will Nore Do With This Wu-Tang Fam Situation?

For some reason, I don’t think this is the way to leverage bad publicity into good publicity. But that seems to be exactly what Nore plans to do. In the midst of a huge controversy, Nore has upset what are known as “Wu-Affiliates” but I am going to call them Wu Fam! They are upset because in a drunken interview with Mickey Factz, Nore called them all flunkies, and then Shyheim, Sunz of Man, and Killarmy were name-checked. This clearly did not go over well.

Dom P, 9th Prince, Killah Priest, and others came forward to chide the former CNN-rapper of his misdeed. Now, DJ EFN and Mickey Factz issued apologies almost immediately, but they were not the main offender. They were like the Co-Deez! They also had drunkenness as an excuse. Nore committed the more egregious act of disrespect. It has been pretty apparent that there is an element of danger here. AND YET…Nore has yet to apologieze. And, people want him to just end it by saying sorry! He ain’t done it yet…but the brand posted the following.

Wait. We LOOKED at the VIDEO and saw NORE call the so-called Wu-Affiliates “Flunkies” and laugh heartily. There was no context to that other than disrespect. Now, they were drunk…I GET IT! I don’t think there was any ill-intent…BUT you said what you said, bro! I am almost sure he is going to apologize on Friday…OR ELSE. These guys ain’t playing.

Mickey gave his apology.

R. Kelly BROKE And Trying To Sell His Publishing Catalog With No Luck

R. Kelly, the writer, and producer behind some of music’s biggest songs, is almost broke. The trial has revealed more than his disturbing sexual deviations, but also that his finances are in shambles.

According to the Billboard article “R. Kelly’s Publishing Catalog Is for Sale, But What’s It Worth?” the “Bump N’ Grind” artist may have to sell his publishing catalog just to stay afloat.

His attorney Deveraux Cannick shared with the court that his client’s “funds are depleted.”

Despite Kelly’s catalog having hits-upon hits, no one will buy it at full price the report notes. The investigation revealed the music publishing “would likely only sell at an eight- to 10-times multiple, or between $8.4 million and $10.5 million.”

And if he is found guilty in this current case … you can forget about it.

Billboard spoke to Hipgnosis Songs Fund founder and CEO of The Family (Music) Ltd, Merck Mercuriadis who said that R. Kelly’s team has been trying to sell his portion of his catalog to get some fast cash.

“It [Kelly’s catalogue] has been offered to me a number of times by his team, and of course, I’ve said no for the obvious reasons,” Mercuriadis said to Billboard.

The problem is … with cancel culture, who is listening to “Step in The Name of Love?” What elementary school is singing at their graduation, “I Believe I Can Fly?”

Mercuriadis continued, “There are incredible songs in that catalog, but why would you take that kind of risk?”

Another company, who passed on copping the rights to the music a couple of years ago, said that they “wouldn’t go near it with a 10-foot pole.”

This is not new news.  The Chicago native’s money was drying up last year as creditors started to smack him with lawsuits.

Midwest Commercial Funding, his Near West Side landlord for his old residence/ studio, was able to secure a $3.5 million judgment for unpaid rent. A woman that sued the disgraced entertainer in Cook County was awarded $4 million after a court found him guilty of sexual abuse.

As of this year, Billboard estimates that he has roughly $1.7 million in a “royalties account” from RCA for R. Kelly but the label was at one point unsure who should get the payout.  Both RCA and Universal Music Publishing Group have severed ties with the performing artist, although the two companies still own rights to his work.

R. Kelly’s hefty pockets allegedly helped him lure young women and girls into his trap and pay for people to accommodate his nefarious activities.

Billboard unpacks his money sources, the costliness of his sexual abuse, sex trafficking, racketeering & other charges and aims to figure out what this really means to the singer’s estate.  With their investigative report, the site tries to explain if his finances are simply a shell of yesteryear’s glory.

“Nah He Tweakin” Spam Bots Take Over Instagram Thanks To Lil Nas X

A new trend has taken over Instagram, thanks to hundreds of bots that are spamming the popular social media platform.

Almost everyone is familiar with IG’s spammy comment sections, which consistently feature bots casting spells, offering get-rich schemes, and other meaningless comments.

But a new trend has taken over the platform and spread like wildfire in the past few hours – bots commenting with the words “nah he tweakin.”

Celebrities ranging from Kanye West and 50 Cent X to Kylie Jenner and Cardi B are seeing their comment sections under their photos and videos getting spammed with those three words.

The trend actually started with Lil Nas X.

Earlier today on Twitter, the rapper questioned the lack of outrage over pro skateboarder Tony Hawk’s new “Bloodboard,” which is splattered with his blood.

https://twitter.com/LiquidDeath/status/1430198278382051338?s=20

Lil Nas X was upset, after comparing his controversial “Satan Sneakers” to the legendary skateboarder’s latest product.

Lil Nas implied that the outrage over his Satan sneakers was simply because he was a gay black man.

“now that tony hawk has released skateboards with his blood painted on them, and there was no public outrage, are y’all ready to admit y’all were never actually upset over the blood in the shoes? and maybe u were mad for some other reason?,” Lil Nas X said.

Some users pointed to the fact that Lil Nas X’s sneakers with MSCHF were not an unauthorized collaboration with Nike, while others claimed he offended Christians by placing a pentagon, and the number 666 on his sneaks.

After the @Rap social media account on Instagram re-posted his original tweet, a Lil Nas X replied with the words “nah he tweakin.”

Lil Nas X Nah He Tweakin

For some reason, an army of bots instantly began reposting the words on Instagram and flooding hundreds of verified accounts with the three words, which are now entering into the pantheon of Internet folklore.

And now, normal users appear to be spamming the platform with the words “nah he tweakin” as well.

Instagram could have a serious problem on the spammy platform, now that the trend has gone viral.

And to make matters worse, according to Input, there are already about 150 million accounts on Instagram that are fake. It appears IG is limiting the comments on most accounts as they grapple with bots posting Lil Nas X’s infamous quote, “nah he tweakin.”

Travis Scott Buys Stormi Her Own School Bus

Travis Scott made daughter Stormi’s wishes comes true this week, by buying her a yellow school bus.

The unusual purchase was revealed by Travis’ on-off girlfriend Kylie Jenner on Instagram.

She shared snaps of the three-year-old with her hand tenderly on the vehicle, as well as standing among the numerous seats inside.

“All Stormi has been talking about is riding a big yellow bus. Daddy surprised her,” Kylie wrote on her Instagram Story.

News of the rapper’s big purchase comes amid claims he and Kylie are expecting their second child together.

It was reported last week that Kylie is pregnant again, with rumors swirling that she’ll use the Met Gala next month to reveal her burgeoning baby bump.

Stormi is lucky to have her own bus.

School districts nationwide are dealing with a shortage of school bus drivers to shuttle kids back and forth to school, due to the pandemic, while online shopping has caused many to choose delivering packages over delivering kids, due to the high risk of catching the coronavirus, as districts fight over mask mandates.

Biden Administration Moves Up Timeline For Vaccine Booster Shots As Delta Variant Ravishes U.S.

As the Delta variant of the COVID-19 virus continues to ravish the nation, the Biden administration is pushing the gear to get a vaccine booster approved before Spring 2022.

The Feds are saying that it is likely that within the next six months booster shot from. all of the current vaccine providers will be available for vaccinated adults.

Pfizer (and its partner BioNTech SE) submitted data showing how the third shot will help keep people safe from the deadly respiratory disease and further asked the U.S. health regulators to authorize the boosters immediately.

According to the Wall Street Journal,, authorities are taking the suggestion into serious consideration.

The approval for Pfizer Inc. and partner BioNTech SE, Moderna Inc. and Johnson & Johnson could come as soon as mid-September.

In fact, the White House is looking to buy a billion doses of both Pfizer and Moderna for the American people. Despite the report, both Biden Administration and the FDA has declined to make an official statement.

They are not talking but something has to be done to control this pandemic.

It was announced by the Washington Post that the Pentagon has ordered all active-duty and reserve military personnel to be vaccinated.

Some high schools are requiring student-athletes to wear COVID trackers regardless of their vaccination status.

Both Louisiana and Mississippi have reported an uptick in death to children (some babies) linked to the coronavirus.

Nationally, according to the CDC from the beginning of 2020 to the top of this week, there has been a little over 140 children between 4 and infancy killed by the virus and a little under 320 kids between 5 and 18 to die.

The CDC also reports that as of August 16, more than 168 million people in the nation have been vaccinated.

Of those vaccinated, as reported by 49 of the 50 states and territories, 9,716 have been hospitalized or died due to SARS-COV-2 RNA related-illnesses. That is less than 0.0058%.

Kid Cudi A “Complete Mess” Over Death Of His Dog Freshie

Rapper and actor Kid Cudi has been left heartbroken following the death of his beloved dog.

The star has written an emotional tribute to Freshie, the pooch he adopted in 2010 to prepare for his role as a dog walker in TV series “How to Make it in America.”

“I had no previous interactions (with) dogs prior, other than giving one a pet if my friends had one at their place,” Cudi wrote on Instagram. “I was truly nervous around dogs and I wanted to be comfortable onset (with) them so it felt legit.

“I had no idea I would have such a best friend in my life. He’s been here for 11 years, and my life has been one hell of a rollercoaster this whole time.”

https://www.instagram.com/p/CS8iZFfLxBu/

Kid Cudi called Freshie his guardian angel because the dog stopped him from taking his own life.

“He would stare at me when I would have a knife to my stomach, eyes glaring at me tellin me to put the knife down. My life will be a lil more empty with him gone. To anyone that has lost a pet, I feel your pain. I am a complete mess,” Kid Cudi revealed. “I cry at random moments of the day. I think of him when I wake up. Thinkin i have to take him out to pee. When I go to bed I almost say “Cmon boy” to let him know he can get in the bed with me. He would always wait to see if it was cool. He’d walk up, wait for me to say come on, then hop up. My best f##### friend.

Kid Cudi checked into rehab in 2016 for depression and suicidal urges. The rapper reveals Freshie passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by people who loved him.

“I held his hand and whispered in his ear to let him know I was there while he slipped away,” he adds.

Common Says Fat Joe Saved His Life From Mack 10 And His Goons

Common credits fellow rapper Fat Joe for saving his life in a Los Angeles/Chicago feud in the 1990s.

The rapper and actor has shared the story of how he came close to being iced over an Ice Cube diss back in the day.

The Boyz n the Hood star believed that the Chicago native was slamming West Coast rappers on his 1994 single “I Used To Love H.E.R.” and Cube hit back with a diss on Mack 10’s 1995 track “Westside Slaughterhouse.”

Common, real name Lonnie Rashid Lynn, later escalated the feud with his 1996 song “The B**ch In Yoo.”

Things got heated when a friend of Common’s visited the set of a Mack 10 commercial and decided to confront the “Gangsta Nation” star.

“My friend started basically staring down Mack 10. Just grilling him,” Common told New York City hip-hop radio station HOT 97 last week. “Mack 10 was like, ‘What you looking at, homie?’ He’s like, ‘I’m from Chicago. We look n**gas in they eye’. From that point, I know Mack 10 homie went and got they thing (a weapon) and was like, ‘Yo.'”

“My guy did a little more after that, too, just agitating the situation. Fat Joe said, ‘Your man gotta go. He gotta leave. He can’t stay.’ And it’s about to get real in here.

“That brother kinda saved my life. Fat Joe saved my life.”

Mack 10 and his crew ended up “roughing up” Common’s friend, but the Say Peace star said that it wasn’t “too bad” because security intervened.

Later on, Bronx rapper Joe, real name Joseph Antonio Cartagena, told Common he’d persuaded Mack’s posse to leave him alone.

Ice Cube and Common eventually ended their feud and have since collaborated on tracks like “Real People” from 2016’s “Barbershop: The Next Cut movie.”

R. Kelly Case Continues … Jane Doe Says He Made Her Eat Feces

R. Kelly’s trial is on its way and more damning testimony has been shared by a woman that alleged that after she told him that she wanted to be a singer, he moved her into his home to be his girlfriend. This Jane Doe was a teenager when this happened.

The woman, who did not want to reveal her name, said that she met the disgraced R&B singer/ songwriter in 2015 when she was only 17 years old. This was the start of her five-year relationship with him, where she claims that he made her and other women call him “Daddy.”

Jane testified to the jurors that he spanked her like a child, beat her like a man, made her wear oversized clothes and ask for permission to leave any room (even to go to the bathroom), and made her record herself doing all kinds of humiliating things as a “punishment” for disobeying him. In one video, she alleges that he made her eat feces and rub it over her face.

The aforementioned other women were also in a relationship with Kelly and experienced similar policing.

At one time, this woman defended the "Pied Piper of R&B," but now she is spilling how horribly he treated her.

“I eventually learned that we were actually all living together,” Jane shared with the court. “He (Kelly) told me to listen to whatever they said because it was basically coming from him.”

Jane further revealed that she and the women were not allowed to talk about their other lives outside of his home, sharing, “If it was anything outside of that, we would get in trouble.”

She was not also not allowed to talk about her relationship with the women that lived with them. Once he found out that she was kissing and telling (she actually told him), and Kelly forced her to sleep with one of his associates named “Nephew.”

“He wanted me to please Nephew the same way I would please him,” Jane testified.

The Assistant US Attorney Elizabeth Geddes asked her if sex with Nephew was something that she wanted and the twenty-something responded in the negative.

R. Kelly’s attorney, Deveraux Cannick, cross-examined Jane, lifting that the “I Believe I Can Fly” singer did not hold her against her will. “You could have gone home, am I correct?” he asked.

Jane admitted that she could.

While she is going by Jane in the trial, her description makes her sound like Azriel Clary, the girlfriend who broke up with the singer in 2019, got into a fight with Joycelyn Savage and has recently reunited with her family.

One indicator that it is Clary is that she shared that she was one of the two girlfriends in the interview with CBS’s Gayle King. Clary said in that interview, “I was not having sex with him at 17.”

Jane Doe left Kelly as his girlfriend three months after he was arrested in 2019. She finally agreed to cooperate with the prosecution in January 2020, weeks before the pandemic impacted the start of the trial.
