The Evolution of Twerking in Hip-Hop Culture

Twerking has become one of the most recognizable and talked-about dance moves in modern pop culture, with its roots deeply intertwined with hip-hop music and dance culture. While many view it as a recent trend, the origins of twerking date back much further, evolving through various cultural influences before cementing its place in the hip-hop world. This dance form isn’t just about shaking hips—it’s a powerful expression of rhythm, confidence, and cultural identity.

The Roots of Twerking: More Than Just a Trend

Twerking’s origins can be traced to traditional African dances, particularly those emphasizing hip movements as a form of storytelling and celebration. Dances like the Mapouka from Côte d’Ivoire focused on rhythmic hip isolations long before twerking became known globally. As African cultural elements spread across the world, these dance traditions evolved, finding new expressions in Caribbean and New Orleans bounce music scenes.

In the early 1990s, New Orleans played a pivotal role in bringing twerking into American dance culture. The city’s bounce music scene, known for its uptempo beats and party-centric vibes, made twerking a staple on dance floors across the South. Artists like DJ Jubilee, with tracks like “Do the Jubilee All,” encouraged audiences to engage in these high-energy dance moves. This grassroots movement set the stage for twerking’s eventual crossover into mainstream hip-hop.

Twerking Goes Mainstream: The Hip-Hop Connection

Hip-hop has always embraced dance as a form of expression, with breakdancing, popping, and locking evolving alongside the music. Twerking naturally found a home within hip-hop culture due to its emphasis on body movement and rhythmic connection to the beat. As hip-hop videos became more prominent in the early 2000s, artists began featuring twerking in their music videos, highlighting its place in party scenes and club settings.

Songs like Juvenile’s “Back That Azz Up” and Ying Yang Twins’ “Whistle While You Twerk” played significant roles in bringing twerking into the public eye. These tracks celebrated dance culture and emphasized hip movement as both a visual and physical connection to the music. The rise of music television networks and later platforms like YouTube gave twerking a global stage, transforming it from a regional dance into a worldwide phenomenon.

Twerking in the Social Media Era

The evolution of twerking took another leap with the rise of social media platforms like Vine, Instagram, and TikTok. Viral dance challenges and user-generated content allowed people worldwide to showcase their twerking skills, pushing the dance into new territories. Artists like Megan Thee Stallion and Cardi B have embraced twerking not only as a dance but also as a form of empowerment and body positivity. Their performances often celebrate self-confidence and challenge traditional norms around dance and femininity.

Social media has also made twerking more accessible. Tutorials, dance classes, and viral trends have turned it into both a fun pastime and a legitimate form of fitness. The global nature of these platforms has allowed twerking to evolve continuously, with dancers incorporating new moves, styles, and influences to keep the dance fresh and exciting.

Twerking Clothing: Moving Freely with Style

When it comes to twerking, what you wear can make a significant difference in both comfort and movement. Clothing that allows for full range of motion is key, and that’s where booty shorts come in. Favored by many dancers for their flexibility and fit, booty shorts provide the freedom needed to perform twerking moves without restriction. Their snug fit ensures that fabric doesn’t get in the way, while the variety of styles—ranging from neon colors to metallic finishes—lets dancers express themselves both through movement and fashion. Whether you’re at a hip-hop dance class, a club, or performing at a festival, having the right outfit helps you feel confident and ready to move. Find  the best booty shorts for twerking at Devil Walking.

Cultural Impact and Continuing Evolution

While twerking has faced criticism and misunderstandings over the years, it’s essential to recognize its cultural significance and roots. What began as a traditional dance movement has transformed into a symbol of empowerment, celebration, and self-expression within hip-hop culture. The dance has sparked important conversations about body positivity, cultural appropriation, and the fine line between appreciation and misrepresentation.

Twerking continues to evolve, with dancers adding innovative spins, floorwork, and acrobatics to the moves. Its presence in global music festivals, dance competitions, and online platforms shows that twerking isn’t just a passing trend—it’s a lasting element of contemporary dance culture with a rich history.

Final Thoughts

The evolution of twerking in hip-hop culture is a testament to the power of dance as a form of communication and identity. From its African roots to its mainstream embrace in hip-hop, twerking has become a dance that transcends boundaries, inspiring people to express themselves unapologetically.

Missy Elliott Explains Why Ciara’s Friendship Is Essential To Her Success

Missy Elliott toasted longtime collaborator Ciara for her artistry and divulged their friendship is critical to surviving the music industry.

In an industry infamous for fleeting partnerships and shallow relationships, Elliott made it clear that Ciara’s friendship is a rare treasure, describing it as a bond closer than friendship and more akin to sisterhood.

Speaking candidly, the legendary female rapper emphasized that Ciara’s presence has consistently provided emotional and creative support, something crucial in navigating the often turbulent waters of music stardom.

“You will have many associates in this industry, but friends are rare,” Missy told Bustle. “I don’t even look at Ci like my friend – that’s my sis, and she has been there not just for fun, but if I needed inspiration. She got me if I needed a prayer. Having a friend to be there for you in this business is what you need to keep going.”

Missy Elliott, known for pioneering hits like “Get Ur Freak On,” has teamed up with Ciara multiple times, most notably on chart-topping singles like “1, 2 Step” in 2004 and “Lose Control” with Fat Man Scoop in 2005.

Their collaborations have consistently blended Elliott’s innovative Hip-Hop beats with Ciara’s smooth R&B vocals, creating songs that remain fresh and influential nearly two decades later.

“Ciara’s body of work is timeless,” Missy continued. “She has created music throughout her career that many generations can listen to and it does not feel dated.”

The musical chemistry between the two superstars extended beyond the studio and onto the stage when Ciara joined Elliott on her recent “Out of This World” tour.

The tour also featured other close friends and fellow Hip-Hop luminaries, including Busta Rhymes and Timbaland, revealing Elliott’s emphasis on authentic friendships in the entertainment realm.

Ciara, whose career launched with her debut album Goodies in 2004, reflected her longevity in the music business.

She credited her success to always seeking new creative paths and making enjoyment the cornerstone of her career.

“I’m always trying to find a way to keep things fresh and make sure I’m always looking ahead and – most importantly – have fun,” the 39-year-old told the publication. “I think the fun is what’s carried me and sustained me.”

EXCLUSIVE: Flavor Flav Picks Favorite Public Enemy Song—Spills On What’s Next For Pioneering Group

The inimitable Flavor Flav has been omnipresent in recent years, sponsoring the U.S. Women’s Water Polo team, saving Red Lobster and showing up at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Taylor Swift shows and the Grammys—and that’s only a sliver of Flav’s endeavors.

It was enough for his Public Enemy partner Chuck D to take note and coin him the “everywhere man.” In fact, they dropped a collaborative single of the same name in January 2024, highlighting Flav’s second (third or even fourth) chapter. Flavor Flav is at it again, this time as the official face of 1-Hour Energy, made by the same company behind 5-Hour Energy.

During a recent Zoom interview with AllHipHop, Flav talked about the benefits of 1-Hour Energy, Public Enemy’s future and how he’s been able to reinvent himself in his 60s. From his iconic career in Public Enemy to reality television fame with shows like VH1’s Flavor of Love, Flav has lived many lives. But at the end of the day, one thing remains the same: his admiration for Chuck D. Although, as he pointed out, they are “equal partners,” Flav has looked up Chuck since they were students at Adelphi University.

Their chemistry, too, is still palpable on stage. Last month, the Black Music Action Coalition hosted a Restore & Rebuild L.A. event during Grammy Week at Deliah in West Hollywood, where he and Chuck performed Public Enemy’s revolutionary anthem “Fight the Power,” a song that still rings true today.

“The song is still relevant, the whole nine,” he said. “When Chuck wrote the song, he was kind of ahead of his time. I’m saying that’s one thing that I can always say about my partner, Chuck D. Chuck, when he writes, he’s always ahead of his time. That’s why I always back him because usually before Chuck writes down anything, he does the research first. That way, once the information does come out on records, we know what we’re talking about.”

The “Fight the Power” video, which was originally shot in Bedford–Stuyvesant, Brooklyn on April 22, 1989, doubled as a political rally. Flavor Flav is always transported back in time when they perform it together.

“It feels like the first time when we made the video,” he said. “It always brings me back to that. I had so much fun that day making that ‘Fight the Power’ video. Not only that, but also right now today, too, that the record ‘Fight the Power’ is still a very, very strong statement.”

Public Enemy revolutionized Hip-Hop with their politically charged lyrics and The Bomb Squad’s innovative production technique. Their albums, particularly 1988’s It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back and 1990’s Fear of a Black Planet, redefined what rap music could achieve, addressing issues of racism, media manipulation and social injustice. Their innate ability to combine education with entertainment challenged listeners to reflect on societal issues, setting a new standard for meaningful artistic expression—and they’re still at it decades later.

“We’re scheduled to go out on tour with Guns N’ Roses this summer and we’re working on some new songs right now to bring out on the road,” Flav said. “We got some fresh brand new songs right now that we’re putting together, and we’re almost done with them. We’re just putting the finishing touches on them, a couple of little knick-knacks, tweaks, this and that. Boom. Then y’all will have a fresh brand new EP from me and Chuck.”

While Chuck and Flav have certainly had their differences over the years, it’s crystal clear Flav has immense respect for the Rhyme Animal.

“I ain’t gonna lie, man, but I’ve always been one of Chuck’s biggest fans, not only just one of his biggest supporters—the whole nine,” he said. “But Chuck always was like a leader to me. He gives off that sense of leadership, even though we’re partners. You know what I’m saying? We’re equal partners, but he’s still more like a leader to me.”

Flav didn’t hesitate when asked what his favorite Public Enemy song was. It’s the song that started it all. The song that landed them at Def Jam Recordings. The song that changed their lives.

“My favorite personal Public Enemy song is ‘Public Enemy Number One,'” he revealed. “That’s the first one out the box, baby! That one did it. I’m just most proud of still being able to be here talking about what we’re talking about right now. There’s a lot of brothers and men that I came up with that’s not alive right now who can sit around and talk about it like me or like Chuck. I’m most proud of still being able to exist right now and have the chance to keep reinventing myself.”

Flavor Flav is on the move on any given day and there’s not one that goes by where he’s not recognized or swarmed by fans. At this point, Flav has been famous for nearly 40 years and said he doesn’t really think about “the fame” too much.

“All I ever do is just live day to day and enjoy the people that enjoy me,” he concluded. “And that’s it. I feel that I’m one of the most humblest people. I’ve never really seen my size. A lot of people tell me I’m huge and I’m larger than life, but I don’t see me that size. I just see me this size. This is the size you’re going to get.”

Charleston White Hopes Russia Blows Up Ukraine, Expresses Love For Vladimir Putin

Charleston White gave some rather shocking commentary about the war between Russia and Ukraine just days after Donald Trump and JD Vance clashed with Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy at a tense White House meeting on Friday (February 28).

The outspoken social media personality, known for his abrasive takes on current events, didn’t hold back in a recent livestream.

“I just want to say to everybody, f### Ukraine,” White said. “We don’t give a damn about Vladimir Putin going over there, bombing them people. F### them people. We don’t a damn about Russia or Ukraine. Not no n####.”

White further explained his indifference by pointing to past racial injustices in the U.S., explicitly referencing the death of Tamir Rice, a Black child killed by police in November 2014.

“They didn’t have nobody when we needed somebody for Tamir Rice,” he said.

He emphasized his apathy toward the Eastern European conflict, sarcastically asking, “Is the clubs open this weekend? When is that pair of Michael Jordan tennis shoes coming out?”

White’s comments follow a dramatic Oval Office confrontation, where tensions boiled over between Trump, Vance and Zelenskyy.

Trump and Vance criticized Zelenskyy for what they perceived as insufficient appreciation of U.S. aid. Trump accused Zelenskyy of “gambling with World War III” and pressed him to agree to a ceasefire, asserting Ukraine had little bargaining power left in its war against Russia.

The meeting abruptly ended with Zelenskyy escorted out and a planned joint press conference canceled. The backdrop to this diplomatic drama is a grim reality on the ground: more than 700,000 Russian and approximately 400,000 Ukrainian military fatalities.

More than 10 million Ukrainians—nearly a quarter of its population—have been displaced. But White remained unmoved, further expressing admiration for controversial global leaders.

“I’m a fan of Vladimir Putin,” he said. “I think he the baddest world leader in the world. I like him and Kim Un Jong [sic], Muammar Gaddafi, but they killed Gaddafi. F### Ukraine, blow it up! F### them people and f### who die over there tonight.”

Gorgeous Doll Is Back—This Time, She’s After Future: “I Will Literally Expose Everything”

Gorgeous Doll took to social media to publicly accuse Future of allegedly plotting to silence her as punishment for attending Lil Baby’s listening event.

In a fiery video that’s quickly spread across TikTok and Instagram, the influencer unleashed accusations against the Atlanta rapper, claiming he’s attempting to get her social media accounts shut down..

“He’s threatening to have my page deleted,” Gorgeous Doll said emphatically in her now-viral clip. “At the end of the day, babe, I will take this off TikTok and we will go to Instagram with it. I will go to Twitter. I will go to every social [platform].”

The video notably features audio of Future’s voice on a phone call, where he flatly denies familiarity with Gorgeous Doll, stating clearly, “I don’t even know you.”

The authenticity of the audio has yet to be independently confirmed.

Throughout her aggressive social media campaign, Gorgeous Doll insisted she was ready to reveal details of their alleged interactions.

“A lawyer cannot gag order me about my own personal life. You are a public figure, sweetheart. I am an influencer,” she confidently declared in another rant.

She further alleged her creative contributions influenced Future’s recent musical catalog and seemed to threaten the rapper with a possible lawsuit to get some money.

“Please don’t you think I won’t go after you for me being an influence on the songs that you’ve made over the past couple years. You think I won’t come for that catalog? Play with me,” she snarled.

Gorgeous Doll also teased she holds substantial evidence backing her claims, adding, “I got over 3,000 screenshots, OK? Since 2019. I will literally expose everything.”

This isn’t the first time Gorgeous Doll has publicly challenged a prominent Atlanta Hip-Hop star.

Just last month, she accused rapper Latto of orchestrating a physical assault outside a nightclub, allegedly causing her miscarriage.

The influencer claimed this violent incident stemmed from her mentioning Latto’s rumored romantic ties with fellow rapper 21 Savage.

Gorgeous Doll labeled Latto a “baby killer” and vowed legal pursuit. Latto swiftly denied these allegations, dismissing them as “#FakeNews” and stating she doesn’t fight over “cheaters.”

However, Latto cryptically commented online about someone getting “whooped” for discussing her relationship, further intensifying speculation.

Neither Future nor Latto has publicly commented on Gorgeous Doll’s allegations.

Diddy Accused Of Assaulting His Friend’s 14-Year-Old Son While Woman Filmed

Sean “Diddy” Combs is at the center of controversy amid disturbing allegations filed against him yesterday involving a 14-year-old boy in 2006.

An unnamed plaintiff accused Diddy of meeting him in the lobby of an upscale hotel near Madison Square.

The teenager, linked to the music mogul through his father, who was tight with Diddy, allegedly accepted the Bad Boy’s founder’s invite to a private gathering.

The plaintiff believed the meeting could provide a chance to showcase his musical talents and enjoy a drink.

Once secluded in the hotel room, the atmosphere allegedly shifted. The complaint states Diddy provided a drink to the minor, accompanied by music.

After consuming the beverage, the plaintiff described a wave of incapacitating fatigue, slipping into semi-consciousness. This vulnerability, the lawsuit claims, left him unaware of the substances affecting him.

The narrative darkened as the plaintiff detailed waking up with Diddy sodomizing him.

Adding another layer of despicableness, the lawsuit cites a woman in the room, reportedly asking Diddy if she should continue filming, to which he allegedly replied affirmatively.

Disoriented and injured, the minor later chose silence over confrontation, fearing retaliation from the mogul’s formidable network and his father’s ties to the rap star.

Diddy, who is currently held at Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center facing RICO and sex trafficking charges, has previously denied the allegations.

Nipsey Hussle’s Brother Blacc Sam Gets In Heated Confrontation With West Blvd Crip

Nipsey Hussle’s brother, Blacc Sam, has been holding it down for the late rapper since his senseless 2019 murder.

During the grand opening of Marathon Burger restaurant in Los Angeles on Saturday (March 1), Sam and an alleged West Blvd Crip named Rocstar2800 got into a heated confrontation over loyalty. In the intense clip, Sam is mere inches from the man’s face as he shouts at him. A small crowd starts to gather around them in anticipation of something more serious popping off, but it doesn’t go beyond a verbal exchange.

“Get it cracking!” Sam can be heard saying. “That ain’t what you on, n####! I’ve been watching! That ain’t what you on! Get on that!”

Speculation online suggests Blacc Sam was essentially telling Rocstar to check Wack 100 over his comments involving his brother and legacy. Wack 100 later inserted himself into this situation by confronting Rocstar2800 online about the incident, seemingly attempting to escalate the conflict.

The beef between Wack 100 and Blacc Sam has been ongoing since Nipsey’s death. One of the main points of contention arose when Blacc Sam demanded the removal of Nipsey’s feature from The Game’s album Drillmatic: Heart vs. Mind shortly before its release.

Wack 100, who manages The Game, accused Blacc Sam of being “selfish with his anger” and letting emotions interfere with business decisions3. Wack argued that the collaboration would have contributed to Nipsey’s legacy and generated royalties for his children, while Blacc Sam has been protective of his brother’s unreleased music.

The tension between the two has continued, with Wack 100 criticizing Blacc Sam’s handling of Nipsey’s posthumous music catalog. Wack claimed that Nipsey has 80 unreleased tracks and that Sam has missed opportunities to release new music.

Following the incident, Rocstar2800, who’s also a rapper with ties to South Central Los Angeles and Phoenix, Arizona, posted “Damn All A N#### Wanted Was A Burger” on Instagram.

He was quickly called out in the comment section, with one person writing, “Instead of a burger you got exactly what yo mark ssa deserve homie.. U playing the 50 with Wack after he marked you out plenty of times and told you that yo crippin was watered down and you ran right back on clubhouse after that and still kicked it with that snake. This is why all this is good that it happened to you!! You wanna kick it with Wack No Hunnid and run plays and when he turn on you now you running to your homies for help!! Blacc Sam, meanwhile, has his plate full. He’s prepping both a new posthumous Nipsey Hussle album and a documentary on his life. He recently told KCAL News that owning a restaurant was one of Nipsey’s dreams. The menu features a selection of gourmet smashburgers, combining classic flavors with inventive twists to satisfy diverse tastes, while the restaurant’s decor pays tribute to Nipsey Hussle’s artistry.

Queen Latifah Planning Show Stopping Dedication To Quincy Jones For Oscars

Queen Latifah will take center stage at the 2025 Academy Awards with a tribute performance honoring the iconic Quincy Jones, the legendary music producer and composer who passed away last November at the age of 91.

The news was confirmed by Raj Kapoor, the show’s executive producer and showrunner, in a press conference where he teased a moment designed to capture Jones’ enduring influence.

“One of the most exciting things I think that we’ve worked on this year is a musical performance that will tribute Quincy Jones,” Kapoor told Billboard. “(Jones) was the recipient of one of our Governors Awards (last) year, and we’ve planned and curated this beautiful moment that we hope will uplift the room, that will celebrate the spirit of Quincy and all of his greatness, and we are happy to say that Queen Latifah is part of that performance. You’ll have to tune in Sunday to see what we have in store, but it’s a beautiful moment, and we think it will make everybody feel really good.”

While Kapoor did not confirm if other artists will be joining Latifah for the tribute, the significance of Jones’ contributions to music and film make his recognition at Hollywood’s biggest night almost inevitable.

Over his storied career, he amassed seven Academy Award nominations, with his work spanning across genres and generations. He was awarded the prestigious Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award in 1995, and just last year, he received an Academy Honorary Award.

The Oscars stage will also play host to an array of high-profile performances.

The confirmed musical lineup extends beyond Latifah’s tribute, with global superstars Doja Cat, BLACKPINK’s Lisa, and RAYE already locked in for performances.

Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo are rumored to kick off the evening with a Wicked medley, paying homage to the beloved Broadway-to-film adaptation.

The event, airing live from the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles on March 2, will be helmed by Conan O’Brien, who is set to bring his signature wit and charm to his Oscars hosting debut.

Kapoor hinted that even more surprises are in store, promising unexpected moments throughout the night.

“I mean we absolutely love the element of surprise. What I can say is (that even with) every presenter and every performer that’s already been announced, there’s still more to come,” Kapoor shared. “There are people that are not going to be announced. You will have to keep a sharp eye out for a few different cameos that happen throughout the evening.”

On the awards front, Emilia Pérez leads this year’s nominations with an impressive 13 nods, closely followed by The Brutalist and Wicked, which each earned 10.

Wide Neck’s Viral Rise Ends With Serious Criminal Charges

Wide Neck, the rapper who went viral for his infamous mugshot, is back behind bars after facing serious felony charges involving explicit videos sent to minors and other individuals.

Charles Dion McDowell, better known by the unforgettable nickname “Wide Neck,” was arrested last week in Cherokee County, Georgia.

Authorities charged him with multiple felony counts, including transmission of explicit images without consent, electronically providing obscene material to minors and making harassing phone calls.

According to officials, Wide Neck allegedly sent explicit videos of a woman without her consent to several of her family members, including her 13-year-old son, her 16-year-old daughter and even her mother.

Investigators also noted that a fourth unidentified individual received the explicit content as well.

The inappropriate materials were reportedly sent multiple times using Wide Neck’s cell phone and laptop. Currently, Wide Neck is being held without bond in the Cherokee County Jail.

Jail records indicate he also faces a hold request from Crisp County, Georgia, along with a probation violation out of Escambia County.

This isn’t the first time he has experienced legal trouble. Before his recent arrest, he had been previously charged with stalking, possession of drugs and other criminal offenses and has been arrested 21 times since 2010.

Despite his frequent brushes with the law, Wide Neck built a massive online following of nearly one million Instagram followers, capitalizing on his viral mugshot from 2018, which circulated widely due to his big Neck.

Partnering with fellow viral personality “Daddy Long Neck,” Wide Neck delved into the Hip-Hop world, releasing rap songs and gaining attention for his online persona and eccentric collaborations.

His sudden rise to internet stardom led to brief stints of popularity, but the rapper’s continuous legal issues have overshadowed his brief foray into entertainment.

Rihanna & A$AP Rocky Embrace Everyday Life In NYC Despite Billionaire Status

Global music and fashion icon Rihanna resists letting her superstar status confine her inside, preferring to savor life’s normalcies alongside her partner, Hip-Hop artist A$AP Rocky, on the bustling streets of New York City.

Despite the ever-present throngs of admirers and paparazzi, the couple navigates their high-profile lives intending to mix and mingle like ordinary people.

Rihanna shed light on why the Big Apple suits their lifestyle better.

“We like to eat with people. We like to shop with people. We like to walk the streets with people. I don’t like a private room. I don’t have them shut down stores,” she told Harper’s Bazaar.

“I don’t like the Rapunzel life. It’s very isolating. It’s very lonely. And what am I protecting myself from? I’m actually allowing people to dictate the robbery of the life that I could actually be living.”

Since their romantic journey began in 2020 after years of friendship, Rihanna and Rocky have embraced a philosophy of living in the moment—focused on experiences over material possessions.

This outlook became more pronounced with the arrival of their children, RZA and Riot, in 2022 and 2023.

“I’m even in the space of not even spending my money on things, but I’ll spend my money on an experience. Somebody could rob me right now of everything I have, (but) they will never take a memory, an experience, a feeling, a scent that reminded me of that moment. There’s just things that mean more when you grow up,” the billionaire musician/mogul said.

The couple’s urban escape is marked by excursions to restaurants and even karaoke bars, where they relish what Rihanna describes as living “like nobody’s watching.”

This shared value is also crucial for A$AP Rocky, who gently reminds her to cherish their past unheralded fun.

“That’s a big thing for us and actually a really big thing for him… ‘Remember when we were friends? Remember when we just used to have fun as friends?'” she reflected.

Diddy Sued For Allegedly Pinching Man’s Nipples At Party & Ruining His Career

Sean “Diddy” Combs has found himself embroiled in a legal tussle over allegations of inappropriate conduct during a memorable summer soirée in 1998.

The disgraced mogul allegedly harassed a fellow party-goer, identified only as John Doe, by pinching his nipples during the music mogul’s famed “White Party” in East Hampton.

This incident, Doe contends, left him publicly humiliated and in considerable distress.

In the fervor of the ’90s, Diddy’s Sean John clothing line was soaring, generating over half a billion dollars in annual retail sales. Doe, whose own family-operated clothing brand specialized in denims, had established professional ties with Diddy.

This business connection allowed Diddy to source materials for Sean John from factories in China, further aligning their fashion ventures.

Despite this lucrative collaboration, Doe alleges that Diddy routinely overstepped professional boundaries, subjecting him to vulgar language and unwanted physical contact, including groping his butt.

The East Hampton party, described as a glamorous highlight of the season, turned into a distressing memory for Doe when Diddy allegedly reached under his shirt, twisting his nipples.

The physical and emotional impact of this incident reportedly lingers with Doe to this day, influencing his decision to eventually leave the fashion industry entirely.

Fearing the loss of a significant revenue stream for his family’s business and the potential repercussions of speaking out against a figure as powerful as Diddy, Doe chose silence at the time.

Loaded Lux & Murda Mook Drop Official Freestyle For Nigel Sylvester’s Brick by Brick Collection

Loaded Lux and Murda Mook have unveiled an official video following their performance, celebrating the launch of the highly anticipated Brick by Brick collection by BMX pro Nigel Sylvester and Jordan Brand.

The video features their freestyle, “Nigel’s Frame of Mind,” which offers a lyrical exploration of Nigel Sylvester’s thoughts at two crucial moments in his life—his current self, voiced by Loaded Lux, and his 20-year-old self, portrayed by Murda Mook.

The battle rap legends exchange bars and drop gems, all while reflecting on Sylvester’s remarkable journey.

Originally performed at a private preview for the collection in New York City this past January, the spoken-word piece is set at the iconic Brooklyn Banks, where Nigel honed his BMX skills from ages 15 to 25.

Both Loaded Lux and Murda Mook are styled in pieces from the Brick by Brick collection, which includes jackets, pants, T-shirts, BMX jerseys, and a unique brick-inspired Jordan sneaker—an exclusive colorway, marking a first for the brand.

The freestyle sent shockwaves through battle rap Twitter, with fans rallying for Loaded Lux and Murda Mook to form a 2-on-2 team. The buzz caught the attention of Nu Jerzey Twork, who tagged Rum Nitty with a bold challenge.

“Let’s get these n##### outta here,” he tweeted. Rum Nitty fired back with “Eazy call,” leading the Ultimate Rap League to respond with a gif of co-founder Smack White signaling plans to set up the battle.

Kendrick Lamar Shouts Out Loaded Lux & Murda Mook

Meanwhile, earlier this month, Kendrick Lamar gave a nod to Lux and Mook during an interview just days before his Super Bowl appearance. He highlighted the battle rap icons while discussing his approach to the art form.

“My intent from day one was always to keep it as a sport,” he explained. “I love when artists grit their teeth. I still watch battle rap—Smack URL, from Murda Mook to [Loaded] Lux to Tay Roc, and my bro Daylyt. This has always been at the core of who I am, it’s been that way since day one.”

The Notorious B.I.G.’s Music Catalog To Fetch $100-150M

The Notorious B.I.G.’s music catalog is on the verge of being sold to Primary Wave, a company known for acquiring and managing the works of legendary artists.

According to The Hollywood Reporter,  the deal includes publishing rights to Biggie’s extensive body of work, valued at approximately $100 million, and master rights, which are expected to fetch an additional $30 to $50 million. The transaction also encompasses publicity rights, covering Biggie’s name, image, voice and other identifiable characteristics, ensuring that his legacy remains protected and managed by the new owner.

The sale of Biggie’s catalog is significant not only because of its financial implications but also due to the cultural impact it represents. Biggie, known for his storytelling ability centered on New York City street, left an indelible mark on Hip-Hop despite his short career.

His music continues to influence new generations of artists and fans alike. By joining Primary Wave’s roster, which includes Bob Marley, Whitney Houston and Stevie Nicks, Biggie’s legacy will be preserved alongside other music legends, ensuring his work remains accessible and celebrated for years to come.

The decision to sell a portion of Biggie’s catalog reflects a broader trend in the music industry where artists or their estates opt to monetize their intellectual property. For Biggie’s estate, the deal will likely secure a substantial financial future while ensuring that his music and image are handled by a reputable company.

Biggie was shot and killed in a drive-by shooting in Los Angeles in March 1997, just six months after the death of his rival, Tupac Shakur. The 24-year-old rapper was leaving a party at the Petersen Automotive Museum when a dark Chevy Impala pulled up next to his SUV at a red light. The driver, described as an African-American man in a blue suit and bowtie, fired multiple shots into Biggie’s vehicle before speeding away.

Despite numerous theories and investigations over the past 28 years, no one has been charged with Biggie’s murder. Some investigators, including retired LAPD detective Greg Kading, believe that Wardell “Poochie” Fouse, an associate of music executive Suge Knight, was the shooter, allegedly hired as retaliation for Shakur’s death.

Others have suggested that corrupt LAPD officers may have been involved in the murder or its cover-up. His assassination has been the subject of multiple books, documentaries and ongoing speculation and remains one of Hip-Hop’s biggest unsolved cases.

Seven People Sue Diddy In One Day, Lawsuit Accuses Mogul Of Assaulting 14-Year-Old At B.I.G.’s Video Shoot

Sean “Diddy” Combs found himself at the epicenter of a legal hurricane as seven new plaintiffs advanced a lawsuit against him in New York on Friday, February 28.

The allegations now total 14 people in just one day, with a series of charges painting a damning picture of his past.

The recent group of accusers—Latasha Forbes, Billie Cummings, Ian Fearon, Amad Jenkins, Fallon Matthews, Laquay Applewhite, and a Jane Doe—allege vile acts stretching over several decades.

They detail tales of sexual misconduct, coercion, and manipulation, executed under the guise of Diddy’s industry clout.

As outlined in the suit, the alleged misconduct began in 1994, extending into the 2010s, at various locations linked to the disgraced mogul’s entertainment powerhouses—Bad Boy Records, posh parties, and private domiciles were cited as venues of transgression.

Plaintiffs maintain that Diddy used his influential position to control and abuse them, frequently exploiting substances and force as tools of domination.

Among the most severe claims is that of Latasha Forbes, who alleges she was 17 in 1994 when Diddy drugged and brutally raped her within the walls of Bad Boy’s New York office.

Billie Cummings recounts being between 14 and 15 in 1995 when she was allegedly sexually assaulted by Diddy during The Notorious B.I.G.’s video shoot.

In a haunting account, Ian Fearon claims in 2003, as a 19-year-old, he was forced into performing oral sex on Diddy at the artist’s New York residence.

Allegations stretch further: in 2004, during a soiree at Diddy’s Miami abode, Laquay Applewhite contends she was groped and assaulted; similarly, Amad Jenkins, then 18, describes an assault at Florida’s Bad Boy launch gathering in the mid-2000s.

Jane Doe’s unsettling claim pinpoints an audition for Making the Band in 2010 as the scene where she was drugged and raped, while Fallon Matthews alleges an assault in 2014 in Illinois facilitated by alcohol and influence.

The lawsuit further accuses Kristina Khorram, a former Bad Boy executive, of facilitating and concealing her boss’s misconduct, alongside implicating major record labels Sony, Universal, and Warner Music of fostering Diddy’s alleged abuses by turning a blind eye.

Diddy sits in Brooklyn’s Metropolitan Detention Center on federal charges, including RICO and sex trafficking. His attorneys continue to dismiss the allegations as baseless money grabs.

MF DOOM’s Widow Finally Settles Legal Dispute Over “Stolen” Notebooks

The legal dispute between MF DOOM’s widow, Jasmine Dumile Thompson, and former Stones Throw label executive Eothen “Egon” Alapatt has come to a close. On Friday (February 28), Thompson posted an Instagram statement, revealing both parties had come to an amicable resolution.

“We are relieved to bring this chapter to a close,” Thompson wrote. “Over the years, there have been many public narratives concerning this matter, some of which have been misrepresented or unfairly magnified. While differences did arise along the way, we acknowledge that Egon preserved DOOM’s invaluable notebooks and are grateful to now have them returned as part of this resolution.

She added, “As a family, our focus remains steadfast on celebrating DOOM’s extraordinary legacy—his unparalleled artistry and his lasting impact on music and culture. We hope that this resolution serves as a step forward in continuing to honor his memory.”

The discourse centered around 32 notebooks containing DOOM’s lyrics, song ideas and other creative content. In October 2023, Thompson filed a lawsuit in California federal court, alleging that Egon had stolen these notebooks and refused to return them.

The lawsuit claimed copyright infringement, fraud and unjust enrichment, among other charges. Thompson asserted that Egon had taken possession of the notebooks in 2016, when DOOM was unable to return to the U.S. due to immigration issues1.

The resolution follows the tumultuous legal battle. As the months dragged on, it got increasingly ugly, with Egon accusing Thompson of launching a “smear campaign” against him.

“Plaintiffs’ complaint is the continuation of a year-long smear campaign filled with baseless and libelous attacks on Alapatt’s integrity and character,” Egon’s legal team contended in November 2023. “The complaint, like the previously highly public intimidation tactics used by this group, alleges that plaintiffs have concerns regarding the ownership of various notebooks of the luminary and now-deceased Hip-Hop artist MF DOOM.

“Contrary to the knowingly false statements contained in the complaint, Alapatt saved and preserved the notebooks after he purchased them from DOOM’s former landlord who owned and controlled the notebooks because DOOM had abandoned his studio and was in years’ long arrears on rent.”

Egon’s return of the notebooks marks a victory for DOOM’s estate, as these materials were considered highly valuable, containing lyrics for tracks from albums such as Operation Doomsday, Madvillainy and MM…FOOD, as well as unreleased content.

“DOOM was a dear friend to me and one of the most important artists I’ve ever known,” Egon offered. “I bought DOOM’s notebooks and kept them safe for years to ensure his powerful musical legacy could be preserved. My only goal has always been to showcase DOOM’s lasting musical genius and the resolution Jasmine and I have reached regarding DOOM’s notebooks represents a significant triumph in protecting the genesis of a once-in-a-lifetime talent.

“I am proud to have played a role in saving some precious markers of DOOM’s life in music and trust Jasmine to determine the next steps for his notebooks.”

Kanye West Has Driven Assault Accuser Lauren Pisciotta Into Hiding

Ye’s former assistant has gone into hiding following a barrage of online harassment stemming from his aggressive outbursts on social media platform X.

The digital assault came in the wake of Lauren Pisciotta’s 2023 lawsuit filed against the rapper, alleging a series of serious offenses, including sexual harassment and wrongful termination, claims Ye staunchly denies.

His incendiary posts were particularly vitriolic towards Pisciotta, with one reading, “WHY DID I NEVER F*** LAUREN PISCIOTTA SHE SMELLED FUNNY AND HALF OF THE NBA CAN ATTEST TO THAT.”

Another post declared, “REAL RAPE IS DIFFERENT THAN SOME ATTRACTIVE INCOMPETENT B#### WEARING TIGHT ASS PANTS TO WORK. AND KEEPING RECEIPTS TO EXTORT THEIR BOSS SOMEDAY.”

Pisciotta’s attorney, Arick Fudali, characterized these tweets as mocking and defamatory, contributing to Pisciotta’s decision to seek safety away from the public eye.

Her lawsuit details an account where Pisciotta alleges Ye drugged and sexually assaulted her during a studio session involving Sean “Diddy” Combs.

Furthermore, it asserts Ye’s repeated inappropriate actions, such as sending explicit messages and committing lewd acts both on the phone and in person.

Pisciotta claims her wrongful termination in 2022 left her without a promised severance of $3 million after being employed at an annual salary of $1 million under demands of consistent availability.

Ye refuted the allegations and hinted at countering with a lawsuit of his own, accusing Pisciotta of attempting sexual extortion.

According to Fudali, despite the intimidating tweets and the online vitriol from the rapper and his followers, Pisciotta is prepared to take her claims to trial to seek accountability and recompense.

EXCLUSIVE: Diddy’s Barber Says Mogul Sexually Assaulted Him: “Ayo Puff, What’s With This Funny S###?”

Diddy faces yet another troubling legal battle as a former Harlem barber steps into the spotlight with accusations of sexual assault against the Hip-Hop mogul.

In a lawsuit filed in New York City, the barber, known in the documents as John Doe, claims that Diddy assaulted him in a studio back in 1997.

The allegations add another layer to the slew of legal challenges Diddy is currently dealing with—from sex trafficking to racketeering charges.

According to Doe, he was well-respected within Harlem’s music community, often cutting hair for the industry’s biggest names, including Diddy.

Their relationship went deeper than mere client and barber; they shared mutual friends, one of whom worked security for the famed Bad Boy Records.

On the fateful night in question, Doe was picked up in a ritzy blue Mercedes by this mutual friend and found Diddy already inside the car.

Once they reached the recording studio, the encounter took a dark turn. Left alone after others departed, Doe says he and the mogul shared drinks and smoked marijuana.

What happened next is blurred by suspicion and fear, as Doe claims he blacked out, suspecting his drink may have been tampered with by Diddy.

He awoke to find himself in a compromising position, his pants and underwear askew, while Diddy stood nearby.

Confronted with confusion and anger, Doe says he demanded an explanation yelling, “Yo Puff, what the f### is with this funny s###?!” as he approached Diddy with the intent of assaulting him.

An attempt at appeasement—$1,000 in cash from Diddy—was reluctantly accepted by Doe as he left, rattled to his core.

In the lawsuit, Doe recounts sharing the traumatic experience with the mutual friend who introduced him to Diddy that night. This confidant allegedly dismissed Doe’s concerns, casually referring to Combs as a “punk ass.”

Gossip in Harlem circles hinted at his bisexual tendencies for years, but Doe emphasizes that this was more than hearsay—this was a violent transgression.

Diddy, however, through his legal team, has consistently denied all charges, branding them as opportunist fabrications intended to defame him.

Angie Stone—Renowned Neo-Soul Singer & Member Of The Sequence—Killed In Horrific Car Crash

Angie Stone, renowned neo-soul singer and member of the pioneering Hip-Hop trio The Sequence, was killed in a car crash on Saturday morning (March 1).

A source close to AllHipHop who works with Stone’s team confirmed she and nine other band members were involved in the accident while traveling home from Alabama, where they had performed on Friday night (February 28). She was 63.

“I received a call from her team stating that Angie passed,” veteran promotor Van Silk later told AllHipHop. “I thought it was from her kidney dialysis which she was going through, but it was a bad vehicle accident with 9 people in the Sprinter van coming from a show in Alabama heading back to Atlanta. Angie will be missed especially by me because we will either text or call each other in the morning.

“I was working with her and her team on her YouTube channel, Angie Secrets Revealed. Next we were changing the concept to most likely call it a different name. We just finished a video in November called ‘Industry.’ There was so many things we discussed about doing. This day is sad as I’m still shocked.”

The word is starting to spread online, with many taking to Instagram and Twitter to express their condolences.

50 Cent Revives Feud With Floyd Mayweather Over Trump Support

50 Cent is reviving his feud with longtime frenemy Floyd Mayweather, mocking the boxing legend for calling Donald Trump the “best president” in the history of the United States.

Earlier this week, he gushed over Trump during an appearance” on the Fox Business show “Making Money with Charles Payne.”

“We had Trump before, we didn’t appreciate him,” Mayweather stated. “I think Trump is a great president, actually he’s the best president in my eyes, he’s the best president we’ve ever had. Great business man and that’s what it’s about.”

Mayweather continued, praising Trump’s performance and suggesting that Americans are always upset, regardless of who is in office.

“Trump has done an amazing job and a lot of people around America are upset,” he added. “But no matter who goes into the White House we’re always upset. And I think Trump is the man for the job, he’s the best president in my eyes.”

50 Cent reposted the interview on Instagram Thursday (February 27), poking fun at Floyd Mayweather and repeating his previous claims about the boxer’s illiteracy

“LOL YO you know how, when you’re in school and a kid eats the crayons,” 50 Cent wore in the caption. “Now you see what happens when they grow up. Spell BEST PRESIDENT champ! LOL.”

50 Cent’s trolling may have something to do with Mayweather recently partying with his rivals Big Meech and Rick Ross.

The G-Unit mogul has targeted anyone associating with the BMF co-founder amid their feud.

He recently criticized Detroit rapper 42 Dugg for giving Big Meech money following his release from jail last year.

“Your daddy my [ninja emoji],” 50 Cent wrote on Instagram. “You made a mistake giving Screech a $100K you could have given that to your [ninja emojis]’s. You always been hard-headed. WTF.”

Wendy Williams Wants To Escape “Lonely” Memory Unit

Wendy Williams feels imprisoned at an assisted living facility she describes as “suffocating” and is determined to break free.

The former talk show host, known for her outspoken nature, shared her frustrations in an interview on NewsNation’s Banfield.

Confined to what she calls “the memory unit” of the facility, she lamented the limitations on her freedom.

“I don’t have the freedom to do virtually anything,” Williams said. “As far as where I am, I’m on the fifth floor. They call it ‘the memory unit,’ so it’s for people who don’t remember anything.”

Wendy, 60, disclosed her disbelief about her residency there, questioning its purpose given her situation.

“I have no idea, but I can tell you that it’s $18,000 a month, which is extremely expensive. And what do I have? I have a bedroom, a bathroom and a window.”

The atmosphere, she described, feels isolating. With her spirits dampened by solitude and restriction, she expressed her urgency to reclaim her independence.

“I’m ready to get out of here,” Wendy declared. “I’m ready to get out and get out of the guardianship. It’s suffocating, it’s very lonely.”

Williams has been under legal guardianship since May 2022, allowing court-appointed guardian Sabrina Morrissey to manage her financial and health-related matters.

Recently, her medical team made public her diagnosis of progressive aphasia and frontotemporal dementia, but Williams disputes claims of being “incapacitated,” comparing her predicament to being “in prison.”

Notably, Suzanne Bass, a former producer on The Wendy Williams Show, supported Williams in her current plight.

“She sounds fantastic,” Bass commented in an Instagram post. “She sounds the best she’s sounded in years.”
