Cardi B Says Fans Will Be Surprised by Some Songs On Her Second Album

The Bardi Gang has been waiting six years for their favorite rapper to release her sophomore studio LP. After many delays, Cardi B announced that her next full-length project will come out in 2024.

On Tuesday (March 20), Cardi B took part in a live Q&A session on Threads. At one point, the official @threads account asked the Bronx-raised rapper to describe her upcoming album in one word.

“Different. I think it’s different. I think there’s going to be some songs that are like not expected to come from me,” Cardi responded on the Meta-owned social media platform.

Cardi B’s Grammy Award-winning debut album, Invasion of Privacy, dropped in April 2018. Since that time, the mother of two released the tracks “WAP,” “Up,” “Hot S###” and “Bongos.”

Last week saw Cardi release her latest single. “Enough (Miami)” arrived with a Patience Harding-directed music video. Those visuals featured the rap star showing off several different outfits.

“So for the looks from ‘Miami,’ one of my favorite looks is the red look. The tape look because I’ve been wanting to do the tape look for a very long time,” Cardi stated on Threads.

She also added, “But my favorite glam look. Believe it or not. It’s the last scene where I have the T-shirt on. And my eyes are hazel. And the hair is just black and flawless. So pretty. Like I love that look.”

Big Sean Raps About Competing Against “So-Called Bigger Three”

It appears Big Sean is preparing to enter his next era as a recording artist. The Detroit native presented a new video on Wednesday (March 20) that showcases his lyrical ability.

“[I] was in the crib this morning recovering from food poisoning [and] decided to rap over this J Dilla flip Boi-1da, Leon Thomas [and] Jahaan Sweet sent me, it’s that season!!!!” Big Sean tweeted.

The Def Jam-backed MC opened his verse by seemingly referencing Drake, J. Cole and Kendrick Lamar. Many Hip-Hop fans have labeled those three Grammy Award winners as the Big Three.

Big Sean rapped, “I think where I lack most as an artist is consistency. I just haven’t had the energy to compete with enemies or y’all so-called bigger three.”

There have been rumors for years about possible tension between Big Sean and Kendrick Lamar. The “Control” collaborators apparently settled any bad blood following the murder of Nipsey Hussle in March 2019.

Sean has also worked with Drake on tracks such as “All Me” and “Blessings.” Additionally, the midwesterner collaborated with J. Cole for “Looking for Trouble” and “24k of Gold.”

Over three years have passed since Big Sean dropped his Detroit 2 album. That 2020 studio LP debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 chart with 103,000 first-week units. Plus, the What You Expect EP with Hit-Boy arrived in 2021.

Marlon Wayans Reacts To Alleged Paternity Suit: “I Refuse To Be Used”

Marlon Wayans is speaking out after reportedly facing a paternity suit from a woman claiming the actor fathered her one-year-old child.

Earlier this week, Brittany Moreland filed a petition to determine the parental relationship between her and Wayans’ daughter, Axl July Ivory Wayans, per The Blast.

Moreland seeks joint physical and legal custody and has requested financial support. In an income and expense declaration, she asserted that Wayans makes an estimated monthly salary of $200,000. She also lists her monthly expenses as $21,000.

A post shared by Marlon Wayans (@marlonwayans)

Marlon Wayans addressed the alleged paternity suit in a statement to The Shade Room. The comic implied he already makes a monthly payment of $18,000 for his daughter with Moreland.

“It’s the classic case of a good, loving, responsible father shelling out over $18,000 per month for a one-year-old, and an entitled woman decides she wants more. My mama and dem would’ve lost their minds for $2,000,” he said.

In addition, he claims that he’s never had a child support issue with his older children. He also rejected what he catagorized as an attempt to “discredit” his name.

“All these women having to drag men to court who pay NOTHING towards their children,“ he added. “And here, a woman gets a doctor’s salary and says it isn’t enough? I’ve had two children before this. I’ve never had this problem. I’m a good man with a good heart and strong sense of responsibility, but I refuse to be used and discredited.”

Boosie Badazz Blasts Planet Fitness For Banning Member Who Photographed “Trans Woman” In Locker Room

Boosie Badazz has weighed in on the controversy surrounding Planet Fitness after they banned a member who shared a photo of a “trans woman” using a female locker room.

The woman detailed her gripe in a video posted to Facebook that has since gone viral.

She claimed she had just finished her workout when she spotted “a man with a penis,” shaving in the locker room in front of a 12-year-old girl.

“I’m not comfortable with him shaving in my bathroom,” she stated in the video.

Boosie caught wind of the controversy and took to X (formerly Twitter) to bash the company.

“Planet FITNESS AGAIN,” Boosie wrote before recalling a previous issue with the gym. “THEY BANNED ME WHEN I SPOKE N SAID “DONT CUT HIS D….K OFF.”

According to Boosie, Planet Fitness is “unsafe,” and he urged “WOMEN ACROSS THE WORLD” to speak out.

“A MAN WITH A PENIS N THE LOCKER ROOM,” Boosie added. “WITH A 12 YEAR OLD CHILD.”

He shared his disbelief that “NOBODY” was taking a stand and singled out entertainers and athletes for remaining silent on the issue.

“I CANT STAND THIS WORLD SOMETIMES FR FR THIS IS THE WORST OF THE WORSTIM,” he stated. “SICK OF YALL.”

Following the backlash, Planet Fitness defended its decision to revoke the woman’s membership.

A spokesperson told the Daily Mail that the former member violated Planet Fitness policy on recording in locker rooms. They also maintained that “discomfort is not a reason to deny access.”

“Guests may use the gym facilities that best align with their sincere, self-reported gender identity,” the rep added.

In February 2020, Boosie accused a Planet Fitness employee of denying him entry to the gym over his controversial comments about Dwayne Wade’s transgender daughter.

Benzino Taunts Eminem With Video Shoot At Mom’s Spaghetti Store In Detroit

Benzino isn’t backing down from his bitter feud with Eminem, pulling up to the Detroit native’s hometown to film a music video at Em’s Mom’s Spaghetti store.

On Wednesday (March 20) Benzino shared videos of his visit to the Motor City, which included a trip to Eminem’s eatery. He taunted the Shady Records founder by filming a music video at the premises.

Benzino can be seen in clips posing in front of the “Mom’s Spaghetti” sign and ordering food outside. He even appears to steal one of the store’s advertising boards and is seen hauling it into a van.

Predictably, Benzino isn’t a fan of Eminem’s food. Another clip sees him sampling something from the menu before tossing the food on the ground.

He shared a photo from his visit and claimed the spaghetti was “horrible.”

“Mark this date,” he said before teasing the upcoming “Rap Elvis” video. “Soon come,” Benzino added.

Benzino faced backlash from Detroit natives over his Eminem beef, with some fans banning him from stopping foot in the city. Nonetheless, Benzino appears to be on a tour of the city. He’s been hanging out on the east side and linking with various local artists and media platforms.  He even had one of his songs playing at a Detroit nightspot.

Benzino and Eminem’s beef started decades ago, in the early 2000s. The tension simmered down over the years before bubbling up again in 2023.

Monica Tells Ray J: “Stop Speaking On Me In Public” Amid Brandy Joint Tour Claims

Monica has had enough of Ray J publicly speaking on a joint tour with Brandy and has told the singer-turned-tech entrepreneur to stop talking about her.

Ray J recently hopped in the comments on Monica’s Instagram Livestream urging her to go on tour with his sister Brandy.

“BRANDY/MONICA TOUR,” he wrote in the chat. “PLEASE LETS MAKE HISTORY, ONE RUN FOR THE FANS. 100M plus for you both.”

Fans of “The Boy Is Mine” duo have long since called for Monica and Brandy to reunite with a joint tour and so his comment sent them into a frenzy of excitement.

However, Monica said despite the public demand, she has never been approached about the possibility of a tour with Brandy. Nonetheless, she claims media outlets are contacting her, and she wants Ray J to pipe down about it unless there’s a deal on the table.

“I’ve been repeatedly contacted about interviews where my name and tour possibilities are being discussed. I’ve not received any contracts or calls about said tour,” she wrote on her Instagram Story Wednesday (March 20).

“Ray J – I’m kindly asking you to stop speaking on me in public!” Monica added. “A private conversation would be both necessary and respectful! Brandy is a LEGEND! She’s one of one with an extensive catalog that I deeply respect and a voice sent from heaven!”

Monica continued, “The conversation being had without she and I is beginning to muddy the waters severely! She and I are both consummate professionals that share a massive recording as well as an entire era! Please allow this to remain positive and beautiful!”

Ray J Claims Monica Would Open The Tour For Brandy

She also shared a post of Ray J claiming Monica would open up for Brandy on any tour.

“Somebody has to come out first,” he said during an appearance on The Breakfast Club.

However, Monica blasted that suggestion. She is open to “co-headline” a joint tour but says business must be handled behind the scenes.

Any further convo should be private,” she concluded her IG post.

She followed up with an Instagram comment stating there is no $100 million deal, acknowledging that she will “forever be the ‘bad guy’ in this situation.”

Soulja Boy Must Pay $10M Damages To Ex After Losing Assault Lawsuit

Soulja Boy has reportedly been ordered to pay $10M in damages to a former partner who filed a lawsuit accusing the rapper of abusing her for years, including one beating so bad that she miscarried their baby.

In a 2021 lawsuit, a woman known only by the pseudonym Jane Doe recalled a particularly harrowing incident in 2015, per The Blast. She was living with the “Crank That” hitmaker, whose real name is DeAndre Cortez Way, and was pregnant with his child.

She claimed they were having a “simple conversation” when Way “quickly became irate and violent.”

“During their conversation, (Way) began to punch (Doe) in the face and chest, until she could no longer stand on her feet,” she alleged. Doe then fell down, and Soulja Boy continued his attack, kicking her in the stomach.

“Soon thereafter, (Doe) suffered a miscarriage and was unable to carry her pregnancy into full term,” the filing stated.

Doe cited another incident in 2017, accusing Soulja Boy of attacking her for wanting to visit her grandmother. She claimed the beating only stopped when his security became involved and pulled the rapper off of her.

Jane Does Cites Numerous Assaults Against Soulja Boy

Jane Doe cites multiple instances of abuse against the rapper, whose real name is DeAndre Cortez Way, including domestic violence, gender violence, negligence, assault, sexual battery, and intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress.

She claimed they began an on-and-off relationship in 2007 but “restarted their relationship in a more serious capacity in 2014.” However, Jane Doe said things ended in mid 2019 when she could no longer withstand (Way’s) constant abuse.”

Her attorney, Neama Rahmani, told USA TODAY, “It took her years to escape the psychological and physical grasp of her abuser.”

According to The Blast, a judge ruled that Soulja Boy must pay Doe $10 million in damages – $5M in pain, suffering, and inconvenience, and $5M in emotional distress.

Rahmani also represents another Jane Doe who filed a lawsuit against Soulja Boy. A woman who worked as his personal assistant alleged that he sexually abused her, beat her and held her hostage. She accused him of multiple rapes and beatings.

Rahmani said Soulja Boy “traumatized and filled her with fear.”

Additionally, in 2023, Soulja Boy’s ex-girlfriend Kayla Myers was awarded six figures in damages after suing him for assault.

Erykah Badu Calls On JAY-Z To Squash Beyoncé’s Beyhive Following Cryptic Post

Erykah Badu has called on JAY-Z after once again after she was caught ina Beyhive frenzy based on her recent social media post.

On Wednesday (March 20), Badu took to Twitter (X) with a call-to-action directed at HOV to step in and curtail the backlash she began receiving from Bey’s fans following her Instagram Story post. The aforementioned Story causing the discourse was simply a repost of the “TEXAS HOLD ‘EM” singer’s cover artwork for her upcoming Cowboy Carter album, which Badu captioned “Hmmm.”

Fairly quickly, fans assumed she was taking issue with Beyoncé’s stylistic choice, in opting for the braided bangs with beads look, which has become a signature hairstyle for for the Badu over the years. As a result, the conversation spilled over to Twitter, and fans didn’t hold back.

”Mind you…. But ima let Erykah cook,” a Twitter user wrote in a tweet featuring stars such a Stevie Wonder with similar hairstyles.

Another X user added, “Erykah Badu been wanting to pick a fight with Beyoncé since last year, like girl what tf you mad for ?!”

After Badu’s mentions began taking a beating, she began trending on the platform. She was the focal point of more than 4,000 tweets, which prompted her to reach out for help.

“To Jay Z,” she wrote. “Say somethin Jay. You gone let this woman and these bees do this to mee??” Badu wrote in the tweet accompanied by a video meme from The Maury Povich Show.

This isn’t the first time Erykah Badu has found herself within the crosshairs the Beyhive. Last August, Badu called Beyoncé out for allegedly biting her style for the RENAISSANCE TOUR.

Megan Fox Tries To Clarify Drinking Machine Gun Kelly’s Blood

Megan Fox defended drinking the blood of Machine Gun Kelly during an appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast. Fox addressed her consumption of MGK’s blood while discussing the wildest rumors she’s faced over the years.

“I guess one of the ones that’s very persistent is that I’m Satanic, or do Satanic rituals, or maybe adjacent to Illuminati, or something in that vein,” she said. “Which I think really started—I don’t know why it started, there was just that one time I said I drink blood ritualistically, and then everybody was like, ‘Wow, she’s into Satanic rituals.’ But that was a very misunderstood thing.”

According to Fox, the general public incorrectly believed she was drinking a cup of MGK’s blood when it was something much more benign. She understood why people thought it was strange but questioned why it was seen as disturbing or Satanic.

“Everything is a matter of what you’re accustomed to or what is currently socially acceptable or normal,” she said. “And back in like the ‘50s even, how many times did you see like … little boys would go out with their little pop guns and they would cut their fingers and be blood brothers, right? And they’re like, ‘We’re best friends forever now.’ And they would smush the blood together on their fingers. That’s not Satanic, right? That’s normal and that’s cute … It’s like that except instead of rubbing your fingers together, the drop of blood goes in your mouth. And I don’t know why that becomes Satanic.”

She continued, “I understand people think are like, ‘Hey, that’s weird.’ But guess what I think is weird? I think it’s weird that girls are out here letting guys c## in their mouth and they don’t know these guys … F### you. You’re so offended that I got a drop of Machine Gun Kelly’s blood in my mouth … What is so gross about what I did with my soulmate?”

Fox revealed her and MGK’s bloody bond in a 2022 interview with Glamour UK. She referred to him as her “twin soul” on the Call Her Daddy podcast but refused to comment on the current status of their relationship.

Dr. Dre Says Snoop Dogg Forgot He Recorded This Classic From “The Chronic” In Jail

Dr. Dre had to remind Snoop Dogg of the humble and not-so-ideal origins of arguably their biggest collaborative hit—while they were on late-night TV.

During their recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Dr. Dre was joined by 50 Cent and Snoop Dogg. Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre took a walk down memory lane and ended up talking about The Chronic in the midst of their stroll. While remarking on their creative process, Dr. Dre actually had to break down how he recorded their seminal hit, “Nuthin But A ‘G’ Thang,” because Snoop forgot entirely.

The tender exchange was kicked off after Kimmel asked, “So you recorded the demo over the phone from jail,” to which Snoop affirmatively replied “No, no, no, no, no!”

At this point, Dre interjected, “Snoop doesn’t remember that, but that happened.”

”What I do,” Snoop replied seemingly confused before Dre followed up with, “I remember you being in jail, you know I’ve told you this story before. Of course he doesn’t remember.”

Though Snoop Dogg says he does remember calling Dre from jail during that time period, he wasn’t able to fill in the details, but luckily his multi-platinum producer partner-in-crime handled that for him.

”I taped the f###ing headphone to the mic,” Dre said, which prompted Snoop’s reply, “Did I spit it? DAMN!” Check out the full interview below and watch the clip above.

City Girls member JT lashed out at a fan who trolled her over her upcoming solo tour on Wednesday (March 20). The fan joked about JT only having three songs to perform at concerts, which elicited a forceful response from the rapper.

“Yall go see b###### with no songs pour liquor down they throat but yall draw the line with my great music?” she wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter). “Go sit your goofy ass down be trying to be so different matter fact come work the door!”

The fan claimed she was just “playing” and planned to attend the show, but she decided to sell the tickets due to JT’s reaction. The Quality Control Music artist offered to buy the tickets before unleashing a barrage of insults.

“B#### yes I’ll buy them & give them away idgaf about you shady ass b#### find a toy!” she wrote. “I’m not one! Be trying to shade ppl who actually wanna do s### with they life your WACK! give me them ticket now fonky fingers!”

Lil Nas X Pays Dearly For Running Half Marathon In High Top Kicks

So, there wasn’t too much fanfare surrounding Lil Nas X‘s recent half marathon, but the young rapper did indeed participate in the New York City half marathon recently, and it created quite a buzz among the city’s running community. Since he wasn’t discussing Christianity or anything devil-related, most people didn’t even bother to take notice.

Lil Nas X Talks Hellish Debut Of Latest Single “J Christ”

I’ve been mulling this over for a few days now (the race was over the weekend), and I was struck with amazement. This guy is one of the biggest rap stars in the game, yet hardly anyone seems to care about this achievement. Well, after some investigation, I unearthed some intriguing facts about Lil Nas X’s run. Firstly, he ran in old-school high-top sneakers (Coach to be exact), which many considered quite eccentric – and I’m inclined to agree. But, word on the street is he paid for not running all those miles in running sneakers. He ended up in a wheelchair after!

Additionally, he sported a silky, possibly velvet do-rag while running – now, that’s hilarious. Another noteworthy detail is that he proudly received a medal at the end, showing genuine excitement, as per sources I trust.

Now, some of you might be curious about his outing. Well, I’ve got the scoop on that too! He completed the half marathon in an impressive two hours, thirty-two minutes, and fifty-three seconds. He crossed the finish line at 10:03 AM. Congratulations are certainly in order, because he did not train at all.

SIGNS: Man Claims He Got Biologically Younger After Spending 100-Days Underwater

In a tale straight out of science fiction, Dr. Joseph Dituri made headlines after embarking on a groundbreaking underwater journey that he claims reversed his aging process.

The daring scientist plunged into the depths of a Florida lagoon, spending a staggering 100 days submerged beneath the waves in a high-pressure habitat. But this was no mere aquatic adventure. In fact, Dr. Dituri was on a mission to unlock the secrets of longevity and explore the potential of hyperbaric environments to rejuvenate the human body.

As Dr. Dituri delved into the murky depths, he not only conducted groundbreaking research but also stumbled upon a “brand new species,” adding an unexpected twist to his underwater odyssey. In his aquatic abode, a cramped 9m x 9m room accessible only by scuba diving, the intrepid scientist meticulously monitored his body’s response to the extreme pressure, all while juggling virtual teaching sessions with eager schoolchildren.

But the true revelation came when Dr. Dituri resurfaced from his aquatic sojourn, claiming his body had undergone a remarkable transformation. According to blood tests, the 56-year-old scientist boasted a 50 percent reduction in inflammatory markers, effectively shedding years off his biological age. In a jaw-dropping revelation to reporters, Dr. Dituri unveiled the astonishing results.

“I’m 56 now and my extrinsic [biological] age was 44,” Dr. Dituri told an Orlando news outlet. “When I got out of the water, my extrinsic age was 34. So, my telomeres lengthened. I actually got younger when I was under the water.”

Despite skeptics casting doubt on his claims, Dr. Dituri remains steadfast in his belief that the hyperbaric environment played a pivotal role in his alleged age reversal. Check out the proof the man says justify his claims above.

Quavo Honors Takeoff With Plan To Reduce Gun Violence In Atlanta

Quavo and his Rocket Foundation launched a program in memory of the late Takeoff on Wednesday (March 20). The Sparks Grants program will award $10,000 each to 10 organizations working to prevent and reduce gun violence in Metro Atlanta.

“I am honored to launch this grant program to honor Take and the countless families that have been affected by gun violence,” Quavo said. “The Rocket Foundation will be giving out $100K in SPARK grants to local orgs dedicated to reducing community violence in Atlanta. There is a lot of important work going on in ATL right now, and part of our mission is to uplift these organizations and support them to help save more lives.”

Organizations must be registered nonprofits or fiscally sponsored by one to be eligible for the micro-grants. The Rocket Foundation also required organizations to submit an existing or planned initiative focused on the Atlanta Metropolitan Area.

Grant applications are open now on the Rocket Foundation website. The deadline for submissions is April 21.

Quavo’s nonprofit will select nine winners with the 10th organization chosen by the public. The final award will be decided through a vote on the Rocket Foundation website. The recipients will be announced on Takeoff’s birthday (June 18).

Takeoff was shot and killed outside a Houston bowling alley in November 2022. He was 28.

Police arrested Patrick Xavier Clark for Takeoff’s murder in December 2022. Clark was released on a $1 million bond in January 2023. A grand jury indicted him for murder in May 2023.

Clark maintains his innocence. His attorney Letitia Quinones-Hollins didn’t believe prosecutors could prove her client killed the Migos rapper.

“We do believe that he has a valid self-defense claim,” Clark’s lawyer told Rolling Stone. “I don’t think they can say with any degree of certainty that it was Patrick who actually fired the shot that took TakeOff’s life.”

She added, “There was someone else who started the shooting, it was not Patrick Clark. He was in the same position that Takeoff was in, he was trying to get out of there alive as well.”

Clark awaits trial. His attorney anticipated his trial starting in the second half of 2024, at the earliest.

Azealia Banks Attacks Beyoncé & Jay-Z Over “Cowboy Carter” Album

Azealia Banks has rebuked Beyoncé’s pivot to country music. Banks recently ranted about Beyoncé, Jay-Z and the upcoming album Cowboy Carter in a string of Instagram Stories posts.

“Wow we didn’t even try to put even a little effort into a more artistic title?” Banks wrote. “Sis I live for whiteyonce Donatella Bianca Bardot DOWN, But I’m kind of ashamed at how u switch from baobab trees and black parade to this literal pick me stuff. Like u do lame stuff like bring out some black listed white women (Dixie chicks) at the country music awards and they would never ever do the same for you. Ur always sharing ur platform with white women who are so jealous of you but have such a long history of sabotaging other black womens careers.”

Banks said Beyoncé missed an opportunity to make “pertinent cultural commentary” in favor of doing “white woman cosplay” and reinforced “false rhetoric” about country music.

Jay-Z faced the wrath of Banks as she blamed him for supposedly making Beyoncé’ “boring.” Banks gave Hov credit for his role in Rihanna’s career but claimed he failed to help Megan Thee Stallion and Rita Ora.

“Ugh I’m so saddened by Jay-Z and his overstrategizing everything beyonce to the point where it’s clearly his influence and not the real Bianca Bardot,” she wrote. “Someone tell Jayz his strategies are corny and beyonce has better ideas. Like it’s obvious why we got no burna boy action for Ja Ara E. We would like to hear some beyonce records without Jay-z on them. We would like to see her outside without him and his pound puppy dreadlocks breathing all over herrrrrrrr.”

She continued, “I’ll give it to him for turning an initially very uninteresting Rihanna into one of the worlds biggest stars but he flopped with Rita and Meg and for the sake of all things grand, should realize how much he cramps her diva style ugh. Her legacy and freedom of expression is not his to share and I wish he would get over that. Sure Jay is an important figure in music but he is not THE STAR that is Bianca Bardot…. Go somewhere n#### damn.”

Banks also dismissed Beyoncé’s comments about not feeling welcomed in country music. Banks called it “falsified victim crap” and accused Beyoncé’ of using her “capitalist advantage” against Black country artists.

“Please stop with the pity party and admit u got criticized the same way you did when you tried to slide ‘listen’ into dream girls despite it not being a part of the original score,” Banks wrote. “it’s crazy to me that all it takes is some white persons opinion for her to start tap dancing.”

Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter is scheduled to drop on March 29. The album is the second part of a trilogy, which began with 2022’s Renaissance.

EXCLUSIVE: Rapper Lee Drilly Asks Judge For Mercy, Wants 5 Years Over Drug Charges

Rapper Lee Drilly, facing serious allegations as part of a larger crackdown on the G-Side/Drilly gang, with connections to the Bloods, is asking a judge for mercy.

Arrested in June 2022 along with 19 others, Lee Drilly stands accused of engaging in a massive drug distribution network that spanned several years, trafficking substances such as crack cocaine, heroin, and fentanyl throughout the Bronx.

The operation, as outlined by authorities, was primarily centered in and around 2685 Valentine Avenue, a Bronx apartment building turned drug market.

The gang manufactured significant quantities of crack cocaine within the premises and conducted sales in shifts, effectively establishing an open drug market.

Their operation not only facilitated widespread substance distribution but also compromised the safety and well-being of the building’s residents, including numerous families and children.

Despite these grave accusations, Lee Drilly’s legal defense has mounted a case emphasizing his youth, background, and potential for rehabilitation.

Lee Drilly said he was raised under challenging circumstances in the Bronx by a devoted single mother and amid familial struggles with addiction and poverty.

He turned to music as a possible exit from the cycle of deprivation. Since his dad was a bodyguard for Bad Boy Records’ artists in the 90s, Lee Drilly found solace and ambition in Hip-Hop, carving a niche for himself within the Drill rap scene, as evidenced by his Spotify listenership, YouTube viewership and Instagram following.

“[Lee Drilly’s] involvement in the current case has caused him to reflect on what he wants his music to say,” his lawyer Phillip Hamilton, Esq. said.

“Even if he is still addressing the issues faced by his community, [Lee Drilly] is clear that he does not want to glorify the lifestyle and plans to use his ability to connect with people through music to be clear with his audience what the repercussions are of this lifestyle; repercussions that he is currently living through himself, and which are not often discussed in commercialized hip-hop,” Hamilton added.

His defense portrayed his foray into criminal activities as marked by naïveté rather than malice, influenced by his brother and a misguided pursuit of credibility within his music career.

Lee Drilly’s involvement in the operation is described as a minor role, limited to a solitary documented transaction without any direct engagement in violent acts or firearm possession.

His legal team is also optimistic about reaching a plea agreement related to a manslaughter charge after the gang shot a rival to death during a shootout.

Lee Drilly is asking for five years instead of a potentially much longer term.

Grammy Hall Of Fame To Induct Lauryn Hill’s “The Miseducation” & De La Soul’s “3 Feet High And Rising”

Two classic Hip-Hop albums will receive special recognition from The Recording Academy. Lauryn Hill’s The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill and De La Soul’s 3 Feet High and Rising are part of the 2024 Grammy Hall Of Fame class.

Four albums and six singles will be included as the latest inductees for the Grammy Hall Of Fame. Recordings by Guns N’ Roses, Donna Summer, Wanda Jackson, The Doobie Brothers and other acts also made the cut.

“We’re proud to unveil the diverse mix of recordings entering the Grammy Hall Of Fame in its 50th year,” stated Harvey Mason Jr., Recording Academy CEO. “The music showcased here has played a pivotal role in shaping our cultural landscape, and it’s a true honor to recognize these albums and recordings, along with the profound influence each has had on music and beyond.”

After opening at No. 1, The Miseducation spent four total weeks atop the Billboard 200 chart in 1998. The Fugees member’s debut album became the first Hip-Hop project to win the Grammy Award for Album Of The Year.

De La Soul dropped 3 Feet High and Rising in 1989. Numerous music publications have listed the trio’s debut LP as one of the greatest Hip-Hop albums of all time.

The Recording Academy will officially honor the 2024 inducted recordings at the inaugural Grammy Hall Of Fame Gala and Concert. That event takes place on May 21 at The Novo Theater in Los Angeles.
