Rick Ross Just Clowned Drake’s Abs—Internet Can’t Stop Laughing

I promise y’all I wasn’t gonna say anything. But Drake’s abs have the internet in a chokehold and won’t let go. This has to be a joke. If you know, you know. Kendrick Lamar already had a humdinger of a line aimed at Drake’s abs, and it landed hard in their lyrical war.

READ ALSO: Drake Dragged Online After Shirtless Selfie Sparks Plastic Surgery Rumors

Over the weekend, Drake posted some pictures, one of him taking a selfie and another of him working out. When he showed off those abs, something looked… off. Like, really off. Honestly, they looked fake. And I’m not usually the type to critique someone’s body, but this kept showing up on my timeline again and again. So here we are.

The jokes haven’t stopped. The comments haven’t stopped. The judgment? That definitely hasn’t stopped either. Rick Ross even jumped in and dropped a meme that made me finally write this. He hilariously compared Drake’s abs to a pack of dinner rolls. That one took me out. I don’t even know what to think anymore. Now, Drake’s body is under full public analysis. Folks are comparing his abs to the definition in his arms and breaking down every inch like it’s a crime scene. It’s wild, ridiculous and funny at the same time.

I don’t know what Drake’s thinking. Maybe he was trolling. But he got the attention he was looking for. So there’s that. Just another day in Drake’s life. And let’s be real. Rick Ross isn’t exactly Mr. Fitness himself, but at least he stays natural. He shows up as himself every time, so him trolling is even funnier.

Now, for the elephant in the room—most people are saying Drake had some kind of plastic surgery to get those abs. I’m not gonna say he did or didn’t. I don’t know. But it does look like something surgical happened. That kind of definition? That’s not just six-pack—it’s like 8K ultra HD definition.

We’ll give Drizzy the last word.

“I’m wide awake for the nights that separate the type who get to it til they get it right from the type who just …type.”

Man Who Allegedly Masterminded Young Dolph Hit Has Trial Delayed

Justice from Memphis rapper Young Dolph will be delayed, thanks to the latest court ruling in the ongoing quest for justice.

Hernandez Govan will now face trial on August 18, 2025, in Memphis after a judge delayed proceedings in the case accusing him of orchestrating the murder of Young Dolph, the acclaimed rapper gunned down in 2021.

The trial was originally set for July 28, 2025, but that date has been reassigned as a report hearing. Court officials have not publicly explained the reason for the postponement.

Govan, who is charged with first-degree murder and conspiracy to commit first-degree murder, is accused of organizing the fatal ambush that ended Young Dolph’s life outside Makeda’s Homemade Butter Cookies on November 17, 2021.

He rejected a plea deal on December 13, 2024, opting instead to take his chances at trial.

Prosecutors allege Govan played a central role in coordinating the hit, which has already led to convictions for others involved in the case.

Justin Johnson, also known as “Straight Drop,” was found guilty of first-degree murder, conspiracy and illegal firearm possession. He received a life sentence plus 50 years and served concurrently.

Another suspect, Cornelius Smith, pleaded guilty and testified against Johnson. Smith told the court Yo Gotti’s late brother, “Big Jook,” allegedly ordered the $100,000 hit on Young Dolph.

Smith said he and Johnson were promised $40,000 each for the killing but only received $800. He also claimed that Yo Gotti’s label, CMG, covered his legal fees.

Smith is still in custody awaiting sentencing and is expected to testify against Govan.

Big Jook was gunned down on January 14, 2024, as he left a restaurant after attending a repass for a late family member.

Jermarcus Johnson, another relative of Justin Johnson, received probation after helping the suspects communicate while they were on the run.

As of June 30, 2025, Govan remains the only defendant awaiting trial in the high-profile case. The next court hearing is scheduled for July 28, 2025.

Cardi B Marks Her Return With Album Teaser Full Of Symbolism

Cardi B stormed Instagram with a dark and cinematic teaser on June 30, revealing the release date for her second studio album, Am I the Drama?, set to drop on September 19.

The one-minute clip shows the Bronx rapper sprinting through a desolate landscape as black ravens circle above, hinting at a major shift in her music and image.

The teaser, which quickly gained traction online, marks the start of a new era for the Grammy-winning artist.

The upcoming 23-track project will feature chart-toppers like “WAP” and “Up” alongside new material that reflects her personal and creative evolution.

The album title is Am I the Drama? nods to a viral moment from RuPaul’s Drag Race star Scarlet Envy, whose phrase became a pop culture staple.

This marks Cardi’s first full-length release since her 2018 debut, Invasion of Privacy, which earned her a Grammy and solidified her place in Hip-Hop.

The long gap between albums has only heightened anticipation, especially with the dramatic visuals and cryptic symbolism in the teaser.

The raven imagery, often associated with rebirth and transformation, suggests Cardi is ready to reintroduce herself with a sharper edge and deeper narrative.

The teaser’s tone departs from her earlier visuals, leaning into a more theatrical and symbolic style.

Pre-orders for the deluxe box sets are already live, with each one signed by Cardi herself. The limited-edition bundles are expected to sell out quickly ahead of the album’s release.

Am I the Drama? arrives September 19, 2025.

YNW Melly’s Double Murder Case Continues With Another Trial Postponement

YNW Melly will remain behind bars even longer as his double-murder retrial in Broward County, Florida, has been postponed once again because of an unresolved appeal in district court.

The retrial, which was scheduled for September 10, cannot proceed until the appeal is resolved. A new hearing is now set for July 9 to determine when the retrial can begin, according to court officials.

Prosecutors informed the court that the appeal process automatically pauses the retrial, leaving the case in limbo.

The judge urged both sides to push the case forward once the legal roadblock is cleared.

Melly, whose real name is Jamell Demons, has been in custody since his 2019 arrest.

He is accused of killing two of his close friends and fellow YNW collective members—YNW Juvy and YNW Sakchaser—in October 2018 in Miramar, Florida.

Prosecutors allege Melly and co-defendant YNW Bortlen staged the killings to look like a drive-by shooting. Authorities say the victims were shot inside a vehicle and the crime scene was manipulated to mislead investigators.

Both Melly and Bortlen have pleaded not guilty to two counts of first-degree murder.

The first trial ended in a mistrial in July 2023 after jurors failed to reach a unanimous decision. Reports indicated the jury was split 9-3 in favor of a lesser charge of manslaughter.

Since his arrest, YNW Melly has been denied bond multiple times and remains in custody at the Broward County Jail. If convicted, he faces either life in prison without parole or the death penalty.

Florida law now allows a non-unanimous jury to recommend capital punishment.

The retrial has faced repeated delays due to legal disputes over evidence and the pending appeal. The July 9 hearing will determine the next steps in the case.

Taraji P. Henson Sets Broadway Debut With “Joe Turner’s Come And Gone”

Taraji P. Henson is stepping onto Broadway for the first time next spring alongside Cedric the Entertainer in a revival of Joe Turner’s Come and Gone, a powerful drama by the late August Wilson that will be staged at a Shubert theater in New York.

The Hidden Figures star will portray Bertha Holly, a boarding house matriarch in 1911 Pittsburgh, while Cedric takes on the role of her husband, Seth.

The production, helmed by Debbie Allen and produced by Brian Anthony Moreland, marks Henson’s Broadway debut. Cedric previously appeared on Broadway in 2008’s American Buffalo.

The play, part of Wilson’s ten-part Pittsburgh Cycle, examines the lives of African Americans during the Great Migration. Its themes of displacement, identity and resilience remain timely more than a century after its setting.

Producer Brian Anthony Moreland called the opportunity to revisit Wilson’s work a privilege.

“We are truly honored to return to August Wilson’s legacy,” he said. “Joe Turner’s Come and Gone is Wilson’s seminal masterpiece — an unflinching exploration of pain, identity, and hope.”

Moreland added, “With Debbie Allen’s visionary direction and this extraordinary cast, the entire company will present a performance that resonates deeply and lingers in the hearts and minds of all who experience it.”

Moreland’s recent credits include The Piano Lesson, which starred Samuel L. Jackson, John David Washington and Danielle Brooks, as well as a staging of Othello featuring Denzel Washington and Jake Gyllenhaal.

The revival is set to open in spring 2025, with the exact Shubert venue to be announced.

Diddy Granted Book Privileges In Holding Cell As Jury Ponders His Fate

Diddy received permission from a federal judge to read books in his holding cell while a New York jury weighs multiple criminal charges, including sex trafficking and racketeering conspiracy.

The decision was made on Monday during a brief courtroom exchange as deliberations began following a seven-week trial.

Diddy’s attorney, Marc Agnifilo, asked Judge Arun Subramanian if the Hip-Hop mogul could bring reading material back to his holding cell. The judge approved the request without objection.

Diddy has been in custody since his arrest in September 2024. He has pleaded not guilty to all charges, which include sex trafficking, racketeering conspiracy and transporting individuals for prostitution.

If convicted, he could face a life sentence on the racketeering count, a mandatory minimum of 15 years for sex trafficking and up to 10 years for the transportation charge.

The jury, comprising eight men and four women, began deliberating on Monday afternoon. But within an hour, proceedings hit a snag. The jury’s foreperson sent a note to the judge raising concerns about one juror’s ability to follow instructions.

“We have a juror, number 25, that we are concerned cannot follow your honor’s instructions,” the note read.

Judge Subramanian consulted with both legal teams before siding with the prosecution’s recommendation. He reminded the jury of their obligation to deliberate in good faith and adhere to the court’s guidance.

The case was kick-started by a lawsuit filed in November 2023 by Combs’ former girlfriend, Cassie Ventura, who accused him of sexual abuse. That suit was settled the following day.

Ventura testified during the trial that the settlement amount was $20 million.

The jury will resume deliberations Tuesday morning in Manhattan federal court.

Chris Brown Settles With Guy Assaulted With Bottle—But Criminal Case Still On

Chris Brown has resolved a civil lawsuit tied to a 2023 nightclub altercation in London, where he was accused of attacking a man with a tequila bottle, but the singer still faces criminal prosecution in the United Kingdom.

Court documents obtained by TMZ reveal that the civil case filed by music producer Abe Diaw was dismissed with prejudice on June 28 in Los Angeles County, indicating that both parties likely reached a private settlement.

Dismissing a case with prejudice prevents it from being refiled. Diaw filed the lawsuit in 2023, alleging that Brown struck him multiple times with a Don Julio 1942 bottle at TAPE nightclub in London.

According to the complaint, Brown continued to assault him after he fell unconscious, stating the artist “ruthlessly stomped” on him and caused lasting injuries.

While the civil matter has been closed, Chris Brown’s legal troubles are far from over. He still faces criminal charges in the U.K. stemming from the same incident.

British authorities arrested Chris Brown in Manchester on May 15, 2025, on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent. The charges stem from the February 19, 2023, incident at the upscale London club.

Prosecutors allege Brown used the bottle as a weapon before punching and kicking Diaw while he lay on the ground.

Brown appeared before Manchester Magistrates’ Court the day after his arrest and was held in custody for nearly a week.

He was later released on $6 million bail under strict conditions, including surrendering his passport and residing at a court-approved address in the U.K.

Despite the pending charges, Brown has been granted permission to continue traveling for his world tour, provided he returns for all scheduled court appearances.

On June 20, 2025, Brown entered a not-guilty plea in the criminal case. The trial is set for October 26, 2026.

Rap Group Bob Vylan Banned From U.S. Over “Death To IDF” Glastonbury Chant

Bob Vylan had their U.S. visas revoked after leading a crowd in chants including “Death to the IDF” during their Glastonbury Festival set, prompting condemnation from U.S. officials and a criminal investigation in the UK.

The U.S. State Department announced the decision on June 30, one day after the British Hip-Hop duo’s performance, citing the group’s “hateful tirade” as the reason for the visa cancellation.

Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau said, “Foreigners who glorify violence and hatred are not welcome visitors to our country.”

During their June 29 set, Bob Vylan’s frontman Bobby Vylan led the audience in chants of “Death, death to the IDF” and “Free, free Palestine” and said, “Hell yeah, from the river to the sea, Palestine must be, will be, inshallah, it will be free.”

The performance drew swift backlash from Glastonbury organizers, who issued a statement saying, “Their chants very much crossed a line. We are urgently reminding everyone involved in the production of the festival that there is no place at Glastonbury for antisemitism, hate speech or incitement to violence.”

The BBC removed Bob Vylan’s set from its iPlayer platform following the controversy.

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s office also condemned the performance, while Avon and Somerset Police confirmed they are reviewing footage for potential public order offenses.

The duo was also dropped by United Talent Agency, which had represented them in the U.S. Despite the fallout, Bobby Vylan stood by the group’s actions in a statement posted to Instagram.

“The only way we can make this world a better place is by encouraging our children to speak up for what they want and need. Today it’s about altering school meals; tomorrow it could involve changing foreign policy.”

The incident has reignited debate over the limits of protest and political speech at major cultural events.

A separate investigation is also underway into a performance by Irish Hip-Hop group Kneecap, who made similar political statements during the same festival weekend.

EXCLUSIVE: Rakim, KRS-One, Kool G Rap & Big Daddy Kane Might Be Forming Supergroup

“Mt. Rushmore” supergroup in the works with Rakim, KRS-One, Kool G Rap & Big Daddy Kane—with a bonus MC. Read on.

A quiet storm is brewing behind the scenes that could change the landscape of Hip-Hop’s legacy acts forever. Listen to me and listen good. AllHipHop has received exclusive word from a high-flying bird that a high-powered supergroup is in the final stages of formation.

This is about to be crazy if the rumor comes true. Tentatively dubbed Mt. Rushmore, Rakim, Kool G Rap, KRS-One and Big Daddy Kane could be the next supergroup. I don’t think I need to run down the history of these rappers, but if you are a younger fan, trust me on this one. From back in the day, these are the best of the best of the best in Hip-Hop. Each of them can rap circles around most rappers today.

Sources close to the development say the project is “getting finalized,” with the budget already locked in.

There’s one question. One of the artists is not fully on board at the time of this writing. I am waiting with bated breath that this happens with all of the acts mentioned. I think he can be convinced to join the movement—but that’s not all.

There’s also a bee buzz that says Slick Rick might be tapped for at least one track. Slick recently emptied the clip with a recent album. He’s 60 years young, but adding his iconic voice would be crazy. He’s not a member of the group, but maybe he will be if the fourth person doesn’t join.

Details like the official group name, release date or label is under wraps, but this isn’t wishful thinking. This one’s for real. The budget is in place. If this materializes, Mt. Rushmore could become one of the most culturally significant Hip-Hop collaborations ever. It would unify some of the most competitive forces in Hip-Hop history. We need this lyrical masterclass.

Come on guys! Stay tuned.

John Legend Slams Italian Promoter Over Unauthorized Concert Ads in Naples

John Legend shut down rumors of an upcoming concert in Naples after unauthorized posters featuring his image and name began circulating across Italy, calling out the promoter for promoting a show he never agreed to.

The Grammy-winning singer took to Instagram Stories on Sunday to set the record straight after seeing his likeness used to promote a performance he says was never finalized.

“To my fans in Italy: You may have seen advertisements for a show in Napoli claiming that I will be a featured performer. These advertisements have been posted without my knowledge or approval,” John Legend wrote.

Legend explained that while his team had been in early talks about a possible appearance, no deal was ever reached.

John Legend Slams Italian Promoter

“My team was approached about the possibility of performing at this show and we were hoping to come to an acceptable agreement with the show’s promotor, but we never did.”

The 46-year-old artist expressed regret over the confusion and disappointment caused by the misleading promotion.

“Unfortunately, I will not be performing there. I deeply appreciate the love and excitement – I see your messages and support. And it means the world to me. I love spending time in Italy,” John Legend added. “And I absolutely love performing there. And I hope to do so again soon. But I would never want my fans to be misled, expecting to see me at an event where I will not be. My apologies for any misunderstanding.”

The concert organizer behind the Naples event has yet to respond publicly to Legend’s statement.

Legend closed his message with a hopeful note for future appearances, saying, “Hopefully, I will see you on the road. Sending everyone love!”

According to his official tour schedule, Legend is next set to perform at the Ravinia Festival in Highland Park, Illinois, on August 23 as part of his Get Lifted – 20th Anniversary Tour.

Ashanti Questions Nelly After He Slept Through Son’s Cries

Ashanti called out Nelly for snoozing through their baby’s cries while she handled the midnight parenting duties solo on their new reality show, Nelly and Ashanti: We Belong Together.

In a recent episode, the R&B singer didn’t hold back when addressing her husband’s deep sleep habits, especially now that their son Kareem Kenkaide Haynes is nearing his first birthday.

As the couple discussed Nelly’s upcoming global tour, Ashanti pointed out that his absence wouldn’t change much at home.

“It’s just with the baby it’s a lot,” she said. “I’m trying to understand how is it that you sleep through when he starts crying?”

Nelly, 50, admitted he wasn’t exactly hands-on during those late-night wakeups. “Do y’all really be up at night? I heard about it,” he replied.

The couple welcomed Kareem in July 2023, just months before Nelly launched his Where The Party At Tour in March. The tour spanned across continents, leaving Ashanti to juggle motherhood while her husband took to the stage.

Later in the episode, Nelly confessed he wasn’t too invested in the early stages of parenting.

“Cause once he get to walking and talking, he with the crew,” he said, suggesting his involvement will kick in once Kareem is more interactive.

Kareem will celebrate his first birthday on July 18.

POLL: Diddy Jurors Already At War, Break Down During Deliberations – Will He Be Found Guilty or Innocent?

Diddy faced a tense start to jury deliberations in his federal sex trafficking and racketeering trial Monday (June 30) in Manhattan after jurors alerted the judge that one panelist may not be capable of following the law.

The 12-member jury—eight men and four women—began weighing the five federal charges against Combs following nearly two hours of legal instructions from U.S. District Judge Arun Subramanian.

But within hours, deliberations hit a snag when jurors sent a note to the bench expressing concern that one of their peers might not be willing or able to apply the law as instructed.

The juror in question, identified during jury selection as a 51-year-old Manhattan-based veterinarian, was flagged by fellow panelists for potentially disregarding the judge’s directions.

The jury requested guidance on how to proceed if a member refuses to follow the legal framework outlined in court.

Judge Subramanian acknowledged the note in open court but did not immediately remove the juror or declare a mistrial. Instead, he reminded the jury of their duty to deliberate based solely on the evidence and legal instructions.

All.HipHop Community Poll: Will Diddy Be Found Guilty or Innocent?

Diddy is accused of leading a criminal network that trafficked women for sex, manipulated them through fear and violence, and orchestrated drug-fueled encounters known as “freak-offs.”

Prosecutors allege Diddy used his influence and inner circle to coerce women into prolonged sexual situations, sometimes involving male sex workers, and then pressured them into silence.

The charges include racketeering conspiracy, two counts of sex trafficking, and two counts of transporting individuals for prostitution.

Diddy has pleaded not guilty, insisting all sexual activity was consensual.

While he admitted to domestic violence in past relationships, he denied any involvement in trafficking or organized criminal behavior.

The defense team, led by attorneys Marc Agnifilo, Teny Garagos and Alexandra Shapiro, argued the case was driven by money and revenge, not justice.

They painted Diddy as a celebrity targeted for his lifestyle and claimed the accusations stemmed from consensual adult relationships.

Over seven weeks, jurors heard testimony from ex-girlfriends, including Cassie Ventura, former employees and a Homeland Security agent. The government presented text messages, videos and photos to support their claims.

Diddy’s supporters, including family and close friends, filled the courtroom as deliberations began. Some held hands and prayed quietly as the jury filed out.

Deliberations resumed this afternoon and are expected to continue into the week.

If convicted on the most serious charges, Combs could face a life sentence.

A$AP Rocky Drops Family Bombshell With Rihanna At “Smurfs” Premiere

A$AP Rocky dropped a playful bombshell about his growing family with Rihanna while attending the world premiere of The Smurfs in Brussels on Saturday (June 28), teasing that the couple might be aiming for Wayans-level numbers when it comes to kids.

“We gone’ be like the Wayans family,” Rocky told Entertainment Tonight, referencing the famously large and tight-knit Hollywood clan. He followed up with, “I mean, love is beautiful, and it’s just spreading it.”

The Harlem-born rapper was on hand to support Rihanna, who voices Smurfette in the animated film. When asked if their next baby is the daughter he’s been waiting for, Rocky nearly gave it away before catching himself.

“It is, man,” he said, then quickly pointed to a Smurfette doll and added, “Right here.”

Rihanna has made no secret of her wish to have a daughter. In an April conversation with longtime stylist and Interview Magazine editor-in-chief Mel Ottenberg, she said she wants “as many [kids] as God wants” and made it clear she’s hoping for a girl. “I want a girl,” she said. “I would try for my girl. But of course, if it’s another boy, it’s another boy.”

The couple already shares two sons. Speaking last year, Rihanna admitted raising a daughter would be a whole new experience.

“I wouldn’t even know what to do with a girl since I only know boys so far. It would be a whole new adventure,” she said.

If they’re serious about matching the Wayans, they’ve got a long way to go. The original Wayans siblings—Dwayne, Keenen, Diedra, Damon, Kim, Elvira, Nadia, Devonne, Shawn and Marlon—total 10.

The second generation is keeping pace, too, with Damon Wayans Jr. having six kids and Keenen Ivory Wayans fathering five.

Clipse Plucks Kendrick Lamar, Nas, Tyler, The Creator & More For “Let God Sort Em Out” Album

Clipse has unveiled the star-studded tracklist for Let God Sort ‘Em Out, their first joint album in over 15 years. The Clipse duo—brothers Pusha T and Malice—officially announced the 13-track album will drop July 11. Per the press release, the project features appearances from Kendrick Lamar, Nas, Tyler, The Creator, John Legend, The-Dream, Stove God Cooks, Ab-Liva and gospel ensemble Voices of Fire.

The album’s production was handled entirely by longtime collaborator Pharrell Williams, marking a continuation of a creative partnership that spans every Clipse studio release.

Pharrell also appears on multiple tracks, including “All Things Considered,” “E.B.I.T.D.A.,” “So Far Ahead,” and “By The Grace Of God.”

The lead single, “Ace Trumpets,” featuring both Pusha T and Malice, dropped ahead of the album and serves as a reintroduction to the duo’s razor-sharp lyricism.

The full tracklist, revealed on Monday (June 30), includes “Chains & Whips” with Kendrick Lamar, “Let God Sort Em Out / Chandeliers” featuring Nas and “P.O.V.” with Tyler, The Creator.

During the hiatus, No Malice—now known as Malice—dropped Hear Ye Him in 2013 and Let the Dead Bury the Dead in 2017. Pusha T released several solo albums, including 2022’s It’s Almost Dry.

Bob Vylan Defend Controversial Glastonbury Set Amid Backlash

Bob Vylan ignited a firestorm at Glastonbury Festival on Saturday (June 28) after leading chants critical of Israel’s military, prompting backlash from festival organizers, British officials and law enforcement.

During their set, the British rap-punk duo shouted “death, death to the IDF” and “Free, free Palestine.”

Member Bobby Vylan also declared, “Hell yeah, from the river to the sea, Palestine must be, will be, inshallah, it will be free.”

Festival organizers responded swiftly, calling the performance unacceptable.

“Their chants very much crossed a line,” they said in a statement. “We are urgently reminding everyone involved in the production of the festival that there is no place at Glastonbury for antisemitism, hate speech or incitement to violence.”

British Prime Minister Calls Out BBC Over Bob Vylan Set

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer echoed the condemnation, labeling the chants “appalling hate speech.”

He added, “I said that Kneecap should not be given a platform and that goes for any other performers making threats or inciting violence. The BBC needs to explain how these scenes came to be broadcast.”

The BBC called the language “deeply offensive” and removed the performance from its iPlayer platform.

Meanwhile, Avon and Somerset Police confirmed they are reviewing footage to determine whether any laws were broken.

Bobby Vylan addressed the controversy on Instagram, standing by his words.

“I said what I said,” he wrote. He also emphasized the importance of activism, especially among youth:

“The only way we can make this world a better place is by encouraging our children to speak up for what they want and need. Today it’s about altering school meals; tomorrow it could involve changing foreign policy.”

The Glastonbury fallout wasn’t limited to Bob Vylan.

Irish Hip-Hop group Kneecap also drew scrutiny after a politically charged set that included a jab at Prime Minister Starmer.

“The prime minister of your country, not mine, said he didn’t want us to play, so f### Keir Starmer,” said member Mo Chara, who is currently facing a terrorism-related charge. “This situation can be quite stressful but it’s minimal compared to what the Palestinian people are (facing).”

Police are also reviewing Kneecap’s performance for potential criminal violations.

As of Monday (June 30), no charges have been filed in connection with either performance.

Mia X Bows Out Of Master P’s Essence Fest Set, Citing Disrespect & Money Concerns

Mia X, the pioneering No Limit Records rapper, has publicly announced she will not be joining Master P for his final performance at Essence Fest on July 6.

Mia X, considered the “Mother of Southern Rap,” took to social media to clarify the matter. She cited poor communication, a lack of a formal agreement and disrespect surrounding her compensation.

“It’s still unbelievable that I’m actually saying this,” she wrote on instagram. “I will NOT be performing at Essence Fest as a featured artist in Master P’s set.” She was promoted as a performing artist.

The rapper explained that discussions about her involvement only began last week, even though promotional materials listed her name. The concert had been planned for months. Mia alleges that Master P’s management initially dismissed her performance fee entirely.

She maintains a contract was eventually sent on June 27, but she felt the short time frame didn’t allow for proper preparation for such a major stage. She said that included rehearsals and wardrobe planning.

“I was also still insulted by the dismissal of my fair fee considering Essence paid big,” Mia X said, referencing previous issues with Essence and No Limit’s 2018 reunion performance.

She also expressed frustration with being used in marketing without her approval, adding that Essence Festival staff explained that the responsibility of securing artist contracts fell to the event’s curator—Master P.

Still, Mia felt her name added value to the lineup, even if she wasn’t compensated accordingly.

“I stand by doing good business and I’ve been done dirty,” she wrote. She said a public relations narrative had been spun before even speaking with her directly.

Essence Fest marks the final performance for Master P, a Southern rap icon and founder of No Limit Records. The show is being billed as a tribute to his career and legacy. It will move forward without one of its key players.

The full, unedited statement is below:

It’s still unbelievable that I’m actually saying this. I will NOT be performing at Essence Fest as a featured artist in Master P’s set.

We started talking about my involvement last week.
At first, his management didn’t want to entertain my performance fee, so it was agreed that I wouldn’t be a part of the show. I talked to P on the 26th of June, and he explained the lack of and miscommunication was due to his busy schedule. I felt disrespected because the show had been booked for many months, and I had been advertised as a featured artist. There was a clash because of my concern about:

  • the short time and no schedule in place for rehearsals,
  • no contract,
  • no deposit,
  • and the fear of a repeat of 2018.

On June 27th, I was sent a contract, but at this point, it was too late in my opinion to give the largest, most celebrated festival for us what they deserved—from stage coordination to wardrobe. And I was also still insulted by the dismissal of my fair fee, considering Essence paid big. I’m quiet about a lot of things and I keep family squabbling in-house, but this is about business, names, brands, and the fans.

I was angry at Essence too because I felt like they took a word and ran with the advertisement. They listed me without my consent, knowledge, or details about July 6th. I felt like, once again, no matter who’s saying “protect and respect Black women,” they always sell us out to the boys’ club.

But Essence explained that with this particular type of booking, they only do contracts with the curator and rely on them to get the booking and money straight. I understand that they’re protected by the agreement they made with P, but I still felt like my name in the lineup was an asset to the night—even though P’s manager said he had no clue my name would be added because this night was about P.

I was floored when I saw the interview with P saying this was a celebration for me—because we hadn’t spoken since February. Miscommunication on purpose is crazy. Common sense tells me that they had no intentions to discuss my fee for performing. They figured that I should take whatever they give me and be grateful when P says, “Give Mia X her flowers. Make some noise for her.”

I work in sickness and in health, and I appreciate the support from the people who have enjoyed my music over the years. I stand by doing good business, and I’ve been done dirty—and that PR spin before even speaking to me is diabolical.

Again, I’m sorry to all expecting to see me, and I hope you enjoy your festival weekend.

Chris Brown Backs T-Pain After Tensions With Drake Erupt

Chris Brown gave T-Pain a public salute over the weekend via Instagram, calling him a “pioneer” and one of the greatest of all time just as T-Pain’s name was trending for his pointed remarks about Drake.

T-Pain Says Drake Refuses To Take His Own Advice To Bow Out Gracefully

The timing of Brown’s praise wasn’t lost on many, as it landed days after T-Pain stirred up conversation during an appearance on the Crash Dummies podcast, where he critiqued Drake’s artistic choices and questioned his consistency with his own past statements.

“One thing I learned from Drake, here’s the crazy thing, the one thing I learned from but one thing he hasn’t followed—his own words—Drake said, ‘I want to be one of those people that gracefully bow out and not get kicked out,’” T-Pain said.

T-Pain explained that he took those words seriously and intentionally slowed down his musical output. But in his view, Drake has done the opposite.

He didn’t hold back as he continued, suggesting Drake had become the very kind of artist he once said he wouldn’t be.

“And I learned that from him,” T-Pain said. “I’m not trying to impress y’all n#####. Y’all n##### don’t give a f### if I live or die! Why the f### would I keep trying to impress y’all n#####? I’m out!”

Drake responded to the podcast clip on Instagram with a short but pointed message.

“This guy always had resentment for me,” he wrote alongside a crying laughing emoji. “You can hear it every time he speaks on my name.”

Though Brown didn’t mention Drake directly, his post was seen by many as a gesture of solidarity with T-Pain during the back-and-forth.

N.O. & Krillz Deliver For Judgemental Records with “Heavy Is The Head” Project

Independent label Judgemental Records, known for breaking the mold and elevating authentic voices, is proud to announce a new partnership with Roc Nation Distribution and the upcoming release of Heavy is the Head, the newest project from lyrical heavyweight N.O., Krillz and their in-house producers, Lino3x and 4k Beats for Judgemental Records. With a raw and emotionally charged narrative at its core, the project offers a vivid exploration of leadership, legacy and the pressures of carrying both personal and generational weight.

Set against soulful yet hard-hitting production of Lino3x and 4k Beats, Heavy is the Head is a statement piece—a declaration of purpose in a genre too often clouded by trends and surface-level flexes. The chemistry between N.O., a sharp, deliberate lyricist and Krillz, a rapper with a street poet’s gift has been noticed by a range of industry influencers, including Timbaland, Young Guru, JAY-Z’s longtime engineer, and producer Jahlil Beats. Together, they’ve crafted a sound that’s deeply grounded, strikingly original and destined to resonate with Hip-Hop audiences craving substance over flash.

Lizzo Trolls Candace Owens In New Track — & She Wants In On Music Video

Candace Owens took a swing at Lizzo over a name-drop in the singer’s new track with Doja Cat but ended up offering to be in the music video.

During a recent episode of her podcast, the controversial conservative commentator reacted to Lizzo’s track “STILL CANT FUH” from her new EP MY FACE HURTS FROM SMILING, which includes a verse that name-checks Owens.

However, Owens fumbled the details.

“Look, mommy, I made it,” Owens said sarcastically, misquoting the lyric aimed at her: “City girls up, boys on they period/

Candace Owens somewhere p#####.”

Owens then veered into transphobic territory, saying, “I am not p##### about something that does not exist and can’t happen,” before circling back to Lizzo with a half-joking offer: “I think I should be in your music video looking p#####, though. So hit me up, Lizzo.”

She wrapped her rant with a backhanded compliment, saying, “I was wishing you well. I’m glad that you are getting into shape. You look happier, you look freer. So don’t be upset with me because I told you the truth when the whole world was trying to kind of pigeonhole you and make you just a fat girl. You didn’t have to do that. You had a talent and you were fun and the industry can be toxic in that way.”

Lizzo Calls Out Candace Owens

But Owens got the lyrics wrong. Lizzo didn’t say “boys on they period,” she said “boys on they deriod”—a slang mashup of “dick” and “period,” used to poke fun at emotional men.

The actual line is: “Upsettin’ these b###### like Cookinwitkya/All these emotions, it’s not that serious/City girls up, boys on they deriod.”

Later in the song, Lizzo does mention Owens by name. “All these hoes know I’m they b####,” she raps. “Candace Owens somewhere p#####.”

The feud isn’t new. Owens has repeatedly criticized Lizzo’s body positivity messaging, calling it “problematic” and accusing the singer of promoting obesity.

At one point, Owens even bragged about being blocked by Lizzo on Twitter, calling it a badge of honor.

Meanwhile, Lizzo continues to promote the project, sharing snippets of the songs on Instagram.

Ja Rule Mocks Empty Seats At 50 Cent Concert: “Ain’t Nobody Coming To See You”

Ja Rule reignited his long-running feud with 50 Cent by poking fun at the rapper’s London stop on the upcoming “Legacy Tour” after a blog post claimed ticket sales were lagging.

“Not the 2 for 1…” Ja wrote on Instagram last week, reacting to a post claiming 50 Cent was offering a 2-for-1 deal for his London show “Due to EXTREMELY low demand.”

A few days later, a user tried to clap back with a screenshot showing the venue was sold out.

Ja wasn’t buying it. On Sunday (May 12), he posted a video from one of 50’s recent stadium shows that appeared to have empty seats scattered throughout the crowd.

He captioned it, “You sure bout that??? Ain’t nobody coming to see you Otis…. I mean Curtis.”

The jabs didn’t stop there. When another user questioned why Ja was trolling without dropping music, writing, “I just wish while he was trolling he had some music to put out as well. When you get ppl attention what better time than to push your s### out?”—Ja responded with a clip of himself driving while previewing a new track, hinting that something might be on the way.

The latest round of trolling is just another chapter in a beef that’s been simmering since the late ’90s.

Back in 2018, 50 Cent famously bought out 200 front-row seats to a Ja Rule concert in Arlington, Texas, only to leave them empty.

He reportedly spent $3,000 using a Groupon deal that priced tickets at $15 each.
