Disgraced “Empire” star Jussie Smollett is returning to the musical roots that made him a household name by releasing a song on social media.
Three weeks after being released from jail while on appeal and serving less than a week of his 150-Day conviction, Jussie Smollett dropped some bars on the people who mocked his court case and the system that did not believe he was innocent.
The almost 2-minute clip of the song titled “Thank You, God,” is a candid expression of how he feels about everything.
In the song, he raps about the authorities not solving the crime. He also mentions people being racist and homophobic but pointing their fingers at him as someone tearing people down.
Smollett proposes that “Maybe we stick together. Maybe we read more,” hoping to expand people’s outlook on social issues, including his case,
He spits, “Some people chasing that clout … Just remember this … this ain’t that situation … You think I’m stupid enough to kill my reputation?” before shouting out his friend and defender, Don Lemon.
According to his social media post, all of the proceeds from the song, which is currently on all DSP, will be donated to the Rainbow P.U.S.H. Coalition, the Illinois Innocence Project, and Secure the Bag Safety.

A judge denied Kodak Black’s request for early termination of his probation.
The Florida native asked the court to end his supervised release over a year after former President Donald Trump commuted the rapper’s prison sentence.
Kodak Black, whose government name is Bill Kapri, served approximately 21 months behind bars for falsifying information to buy firearms.
Trump allowed Kodak Black to get out of prison, but the ex-president kept the terms of the Sniper Gang rhymer’s probation intact.
Kodak Black’s lawyer Bradford Cohen sought early termination of his client’s supervised release based on good behavior. Unfortunately, the feds objected to the idea.
The rapper previously violated his probation when he failed a drug test when MDMA was detected in his system. He completed a 90-day stint in rehab and is clean and sober.
“The Government and Probation oppose early termination of supervised release,” court documents noted. “Probation opposes early termination because of Defendant’s history of violence and compliance issues during supervised release. Neither the Government nor U.S. Probation, however, oppose converting Defendant’s supervised release to a non-reporting status.”
Judge Jose Martinez rejected Kodak Black’s motion for early termination but made the probation less restrictive. The judge switched the Atlantic Records artist’s supervised release to non-reporting status.
“It is hereby ordered and adjudged that Defendant’s Motion for Early Termination of Supervised Release is denied without prejudice,” the judge ruled. “However, Defendant’s supervised release shall be converted into a non-reporting status. Defendant shall comply with all conditions of non-reporting supervised release, as set forth by U.S. Probation.”
Thanks to the new terms of his probation, the rapper can tour nationally, and internationally to support the release of his new album Back for Everything, since he will no longer be required to be physically present to check in with his probation officer.

Trey Songz avoided criminal charges after facing sexual assault allegations in Las Vegas.
According to multiple reports, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department cleared Trey Songz in a sexual assault investigation. Police investigated the singer, whose real name is Tremaine Neverson, for an alleged incident that occurred in November 2021.
“The LVMPD has concluded the investigation into the sexual assault allegations against Tremaine Neverson and determined that no criminal charges will be filed,” police said in a press statement. “If any new evidence comes to light, the case will be reopened for further investigation.”
Trey Songz’s attorneys David Chesnoff and Richard Schonfel spoke to TMZ about police clearing their client.
“We are pleased that Trey Songz has been cleared of wrongdoing and the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department investigation has officially been closed,” they said. “We are grateful to the LVMPD for the professional police work done and their thorough investigation, which included findings of inconsistency in witness testimony and insufficient evidence.”
They added, “We are pleased that Trey can now return to what he does best, entertaining.”

Drake sold two of his California homes to a Super Bowl champion.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford purchased the OVO rapper’s Hidden Hills houses for $11 million. The NFL star paid well over the asking price, which reportedly was $7.4 million.
Drake faired well in the deal as he originally bought the homes for $7.35 million. He’s also trying to sell his lavish YOLO estate, which is located in Hidden Hills too. The YOLO estate remains on the market with an asking price of $14.8 million.
Stafford’s new homes were originally acquired by Drake in 2015 and 2018, respectively. One house is 3,600 square feet with five bedrooms and includes an 800-square-foot guesthouse. The other home is 2,400 square feet with three bedrooms.
Drake put his Hidden Hills properties on the market since he picked up a luxurious home in the Los Angeles area. He recently bought an extravagant mansion in Beverly Crest from English singer Robbie Williams.
The Billboard chart-topping artist reportedly spent $75 million on the estate, which spans over 20 acres. Drake’s mansion includes 10 bedrooms, 22 bathrooms and an 11-car garage. It boasts a wine cellar, game room and tennis court as well.
The Academy of Motion Pictures Arts and Sciences banned Will Smith for a decade on Friday (April 8).
Will Smith received the 10-year ban for slapping Chris Rock at the 2022 Academy Awards in March. The movie star walked up on stage and smacked the comedian for making a joke about Jada Pinkett Smith’s hair.
“The 94th Oscars were meant to be a celebration of the many individuals in our community who did incredible work this past year,” the Academy said in a statement. “However, those moments were overshadowed by the unacceptable and harmful behavior we saw Mr. Smith exhibit on stage.”
Will Smith faced no repercussions during the Oscars telecast, winning the award for Best Actor later in the show. The Academy noted it “did not adequately address the situation in the room.”
“The Board of Governors convened a meeting to discuss how best to respond to Will Smith’s actions at the Oscars, in addition to accepting his resignation,” the Academy said. “The Board has decided, for a period of 10 years from April 8, 2022, Mr. Smith shall not be permitted to attend any Academy events or programs, in person or virtually, including but not limited to the Academy Awards.”
Will Smith responded to the ban in a brief statement, saying he accepts and respects the Academy’s decision.

Canada Dry announced a new partnership with Hip Hop recording artist French Montana. The deal includes the soft drink company featuring Montana in the “Big Comfy” advertising campaign.
James Larese directed the “Canada Dry with French Montana – Big Comfy” spot. Montana’s longtime friend/music collaborator Harry Fraud provided the score. Fraud has also worked with Wiz Khalifa, Curren$y, and other acts throughout his career.

Apple Music 1’s Eddie and Nick recently spoke to Coi Leray. In the New Music Daily interview, Leray discussed finding success following her inclusion on last year’s Freshman list.
“I was looking at the XXL lineup like, ‘Where’s everybody at, yo? Where’s everybody at, man?’ Because they were s####### on me for XXL. Where’s everybody at? They done dropped a whole new lineup and forgot about the last one,” said Coi Leray.

Wu-Tang Clan member Method Man has a new project on the way. Meth Lab 3: The Rehab will hit DSPs on May 6 via Hanz On Music Entertainment/ONErpm.
Method Man recorded Meth Lab 3 in Staten Island’s Meth Lab Studios. The 51-year-old emcee, along with friend/collaborator Hanz On, also curated The Meth Lab platform which links the Staten Island Hip Hop community with up-and-coming artists.
“This installation of the Meth Lab is shaping up to be a good one. We’ve had a lot of setbacks with this album, one being a pandemic and a lockdown. Amongst all the delays my team stayed solid and the album developed into a respectful body of work,” states Method Man.
The Meth Lab 3 single “Live From The Meth Lab” arrived this week. Method Man drafted Hip Hop legends Redman and KRS-One as well as Wu-affiliated rapper JoJo Pelligrino as features for the track.
The original Meth Lab came out in 2015 with contributions by acts such as Hanz On, Redman, Mack Wilds, and several Wu-Tang Clan representatives. Meth Lab Season 2: The Lithium landed three years later. Hanz On also contributed to that album.
A quick scroll down Wiz Khalifa’s Instagram page will reveal quite a few pictures and videos of the Pittsburgh-bred rapper in just his underwear. Apparently, Wiz enjoys working out while wearing the bare minimum.
Some Instagram users are not fans of constantly seeing Wiz Khalifa without pants on. For example, Million Dollaz Worth Of Game podcast host Gillie da King expressed his annoyance with the “See You Again” hitmaker.

However, his followers were quick to point out the error, teasing the rapper. “I also like saying a e i o u 5-7 times a day,” was one response.
Others were surprised by the regularity of said movements. “I dont know playa,” one concerned user told NLE. “5 to 7 times sounds like u need to lay off the Chitlins.” The replies were then filled with debates about the appropriate frequency of bowel movements.

Nonetheless, NLE Choppa returned to clarify his comments. “Bowel,” he confirmed. “I was typing fast tryna make this flight y’all know wtf I mean.” NLE then attempted to turn the mistake into a win. “It’s vowel movement from on you heard it from doctor chop first,” he added.

After seeing some of the responses, NLE Choppa came back with more guidance. ”Y’all so brainwashed,” he began. “It’s crazy for every meal you eat your suppose to have a movement for. If you eat 3 times a day and s### once or don’t s### til the next day your gut is unhealthy SIMPLE, PERIOD. The gut is working overtime for the pile up your causing. Truth hurt, I know !”

Ashanti has been honored for her decades-long career in the limelight with her very own star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
The Hollywood Chamber of Commerce presented the Grammy Award-winning singer/songwriter and actress with the coveted star during the ceremony in Los Angeles on Thursday (Apr. 8).

“I’m not a super emotional person, so the fact that I cried a little bit today is a little weird for me,” Ashanti said during the presentation. “I’m so humbled and overjoyed to have friends, family and genuine people here supporting me that I love.”
Ashanti was joined at the ceremony by longtime collaborator Ja Rule and actress Tichina Arnold. She was also surrounded by her parents, Tina and Ken-Kaide Thomas Douglas, sister Kenashia Douglas, and her fans. The gracious star thanked them all during her emotional acceptance speech.
“The fact that my mom spoke this into existence is surreal,” Ashanti explained. “She really had that feeling as a mother to say, ‘My child is gonna get this.’ She manifested it and I’m forever grateful.”
She added, “It’s still hitting me and I’m still stunned. This is proof to everyone out there that dreams really do come true.”
Meanwhile, Ja Rule praised Ashanti: “Getting a star on the Hollywood walk of fame is like the top of the top.”
He added, “I just want to say I’m proud of you and I love you. She has a lot more years of amazing work ahead of her film, television, whatever you desire baby. Sky’s the limit.”

The singer received her star 20 years after the release of her self-titled debut album. Ashanti released an exclusive NFT collection to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the project on April 6.
“I can’t believe it’s been 20 years since my debut album “Ashanti”!!!!!!!!” she penned on Instagram. “I’m so grateful that yall been rocking with me for over 20 years!!!!! Now I finally get to give you something in return.” She revealed she was “beyond excited” to announce the collection. “I want y’all to have ownership in these new Masters!!!,” she added.
