I need a number one album, a number one mixtape and some number one singles. There’s no stopping, still. That’s my plan.”

Russ revealed the tape will come first, “then probably an album by the end of 2022 or the start of 2023.” He added, “Definitely I’ll be ready, album mode, right now I’m in mixtape mode. After mixtape mode, album mode.”

Senior Talks About the Qualities He Notices His Fellow Artists Share

One cliché that might just describe the success of a musician the best is the one about the ten thousand hours necessary to master a skill. That said, a well-rounded musician needs to master more skills than just one. Still, while talent is very important, it isn’t always crucial.

“It’s not that talent doesn’t matter in the music business,” explains Senior, a successful musical artist. “It’s just that there’s no amount of talent that can cover a musician’s lack of work on their art and craft. True artists are made, not born, and it helps if they’re able to develop certain character traits or qualities.”

Sticking with the ten thousand hours of practice, the first quality that comes across anyone’s mind when they hear about such an arduous practice regiment is self-discipline. It would be next to impossible to complete that much practice in a reasonable number of years without having the ability to make oneself sit down or stand up, depending on the skill, and practice.

“Discipline is great when beginning a career, and it’s helped me a lot, too,” says Senior. “I have committed to releasing an album a year, which requires consistency and a good work ethic, both of which rely on the ability to regulate myself that comes from self-discipline.”

Later on, when an artist might fall into the temptation to lose oneself in the trappings of fame is where discipline can save their life. Discipline is the quality that follows artists throughout their careers.

The ability to persevere is another vital trait artists should be quick to develop. Every career has its ups and downs, and the downs are where most careers start. It takes time to pick up steam and start on an upwards trajectory.

Once an artist achieves a certain level of success, no one can guarantee that a career will stay on that level. Singles flop. Albums fail to chart. Concepts turn out to be uncommunicable. Through all those times, the artist has the weather whatever negativity comes their way. They have to persevere and preserve enough energy to stand up and try again.

“Artists’ biggest reward comes from the fact that they take something on their own, present it to the world, and get praise for it,” continues Senior. “That’s also the source of one of their biggest pains — when their art doesn’t get the recognition the artists think it deserves.” In those situations, having a thick skin and a good sense of perspective can prove to be invaluable. The type of resilience that lets people roll with the punches like it’s no big deal can save a career.

Finally, every artist should have a good sense of people. When the limelight is on them, they’ll start attracting all kinds of shady and sketchy characters. Suddenly, they’ll have a lot of “friends” and hang-ons who want nothing more than to serve their own agenda. Some of them can easily find their way into the business side of a musician’s career. Managers, publicists, and every other person who should be there to support the artist and serve their career can sometimes do everything but that. It’s important for an artist to be able to identify those people and cut ties.

Ayal Kleinman Reflects On The Success Of His Latest Songs “Pulse” And “Burn it Down”

Where do good songs come from? “Nobody knows,” said the revered poet Mr. Leonard Cohen. It is true. It is impossible for the music maker, be it the songwriter or the producer, to be sure if the song they’re about to write and produce would be a hit or fade out into oblivion. Ayal Kleinman dodged that bullet with his latest songs, “Pulse” and “Burn it down,” as they went on to create a massive stir among his listeners. In this article, Ayal reflects on what made them tick!

Music is a personal thing, much like religion. It’s what beats inside the beats of our hearts. It’s sacred. It’s holy. And musicians are its gatekeepers. Through practice, intuition, and imagination — concepts considered virtuous among the sciences — most musicians try to dive into the heart of hearts, a place where the truth is. With “Pulse” and “Burn it down,” Ayal tried to walk down the lane of inner life. He says, “I create in isolation. This allows me to harness my inner self, connect with my courage and fears and love and beauty, and use words like bait to, sort of, fish them out. I think my songs resonate with people because they can find themselves in it. That’s what I owe my success to.”

Ayal’s success with his songs has egged him on to create with a sense of urgency. In his own words, “I think it’s very important to not waste this ‘high feeling’ on something frivolous. I want to use this energy to create more music that can help people connect with themselves. That, above all, I believe, is the reason that ensures sustainable success.”

Throughout the song, they harmonize on having loyalty, respect, and trust in a relationship — and most importantly being there “through the thick and thin.” And no matter what happens, they still will be friends, which illustrates even more how much love and respect they have for one another.

Phillis Wheatley – America’s First Groundbreaking Poet

Respected by everyone from countless historical figures including Voltaire and George Washington, Phyllis Wheatley gifted the world with incredible poetry.

Scholars believe that Phillis Wheatley was born in 1753 in West Africa. She was sold into slavery at no more than eight years old by a local chief and was bought by a wealthy Boston merchant.

Her enslaver, John Wheatley was widely known as a “progressive” for his time. This could be why Phillis, named after the slave ship that transported her to America, was provided with a full education. Wheatley’s daughter taught her how to read and write. By age 12, she was reading literary classics and by 14 she had written her first poem.

The Wheatleys quickly came to understand that Phillis possessed an incredible talent for writing. She was inspired by the likes of Milton, Homer, and Horace.

At 20, Phillis went with the Wheatleys’ son to London. They believed that she would have a better chance of publishing a book of poems she had been working on there.

During her time in London, Phillis received an audience of countless members of British society. She was even supposed to meet King George III. This never occurred because Phillis returned to Boston before the meeting. However, she did attract the interest of Selina Hastings. The countess subsidized the publication of Wheatley’s poems.

After her book received publication in 1773, Phillis was emancipated. By 1778 both John and Susanna Wheatley had passed away.

In 1775, Phillis sent a copy of a poem she wrote entitled “To His Excellency, George Washington.” The then military general wrote back and she was invited to visit him in Cambridge Massachusetts in 1776.

She also wrote a letter to Reverend Samson Occom. In the letter, she commended him on his beliefs that enslaved people should be provided with their natural-born rights in America. Phillis is also known to have written letters corresponding with British philanthropist John Thorton.

After her Emancipation, Philis married a free black grocer John Peters. Their partnership was both tragic and short. Phillis died at the age of 31 after becoming a scullery maid and her infant son died shortly after. In her last years, Phillis was living in poverty due to her husband’s debt.

Phillis rarely wrote poems about herself. Instead, many were tributes to famous figures and often had Christian themes. However, there were rare examples where she referred to her own life including “On Being Brought From Africa To America.”

Many people including Thomas Jefferson found it difficult to believe that an African slave was capable of writing poetry. Phillis was constantly forced to defend herself from the claims that the poems were not hers and even argued her case in court. Eventually, a group of Boston luminaries agreed that the poems were her own.

Since her death black literary scholars have critiqued her writing extensively. Many note that it lacks a sense of identity as an enslaved African American. Some have suggested that this is due to the fact that Phillis was manipulated by her enslavers. It is widely believed that she was separated from the other slaves in the household and only completed light housework. As a result, Phillis saw herself more as part of the family rather than a piece of property that they owned.

Despite this, at the time of the publication of her book of poems, it has been claimed that Phillis became the most famous African American in the world.

Dr. Dre Seeks To Open Doors For Hip-Hop With Super Bowl Halftime Show

Dr. Dre says the Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show is a long-overdue showcase for Hip Hop.

The legendary producer, Snoop Dogg and Mary J. Blige spoke about the halftime show at a press conference on Thursday (February 10). Dr. Dre championed Hip Hop, telling reporters the genre’s deserved the spotlight of the NFL’s biggest game for years.

“This should’ve happened a long time ago,” he said. “Hip Hop is the biggest genre of music on the planet right now, so it’s crazy that it took all of this time for us to be recognized. I think we’re going to go on and do a fantastic show and we’re going to do it so big that they can’t deny us anymore in the future.”

Dr. Dre will perform alongside Snoop Dogg, Mary J. Blige, Eminem and Kendrick Lamar. He believes their halftime show will lead to more opportunities for Hip Hop artists.

“We’re going to open more doors for Hip Hop artists in the future and [make] sure that the NFL understands that this is what it should have been a long time ago,” he said. “We’re going to show exactly how professional we can be, how dope we can be on stage and how exciting we’re going to be to the fans.”

Snoop Dogg expressed gratitude to the NFL at the presser. He also took aim at anyone who didn’t want Hip Hop involved in the festivities.

“We know a lot of people didn’t want Hip Hop on stage,” he said. “But we’re here now and there ain’t nothing you can do about it.”

The Cincinnati Bengals face the Los Angeles Rams in the Super Bowl on Sunday (February 13). Fans can watch the big game and the star-studded halftime show on NBC and Peacock.

Zendaya Denies “Euporhia” Is Making Watchers Use Drugs

LZendaya has defended her TV show Euphoria amid claims the series glorifies teen drug use.

In January, representatives at the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) group told TMZ that the show “chooses to misguidedly glorify and erroneously depict high school student drug use” and addiction.

Zendaya, who plays drug addict Rue Bennett on the show, has responded to the criticism in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

“Our show is in no way a moral tale to teach people how to live their life or what they should be doing,” she said. “If anything, the feeling behind ‘Euphoria,’ or whatever we have always been trying to do with it, is to hopefully help people feel a little bit less alone in their experience and their pain. And maybe feel like they’re not the only one going through or dealing with what they’re dealing with.”

Zendaya added that she hopes viewers watching Rue’s downward spiral will make them “more understanding and empathetic” about addiction and what it does to addicts and their families.

She has already noticed the storyline resonating with audiences as she’s had many people from “all walks of life” reach out to her about it.

In the most recent episode, which aired on Sunday, Rue’s family and friends stage an intervention, and she runs around town, trying to find her next fix as she experiences withdrawal symptoms.

The 25-year-old, who executive produces the series along with rap star Drake, stated that the show won’t leave her character at rock bottom and, by the end of the season, viewers will feel hopeful that “there’s light at the end of the tunnel” for Rue.

Zendaya admitted shooting the episode was “intense and scary,” and she still has scars from the opening intervention scene.

“It was a very tough day. I mean, I beat myself up. I still have some scars on my legs and got quite a few bruises,” she shared.

DaniLeigh Fires Shots at DaBaby! But Why Delete her IG?

It seems as though, acrimonious interactions between DaniLeigh and DaBaby are becoming normal. Thus far, this dysfunctional duo are notorious for delivering legendary social media spats. So, today (Feb. 10), is no different. Again, a frustrated DaniLeigh fires shots at the “Yellow Bone” lyricist. But, why does she delete her Instagram account?

As of late, there is shocking footage which allegedly captures the “Sticked Up” spitter. Furthermore, this tape depicts a physical altercation. So, one may ask, ‘How does this impact the “Easy” singer?’ Well, it just so happens to star her brother, Brandon Bills.

Perhaps, to vent, the “Mistreated” musician then consults her dedicated therapist, social media. After, logging into IG, the concerned creative addresses her troubling family issues. In such manner, she focuses on the incident. So, she hops onto her IG stories.

Additionally, about the incident, Lil BeBe expresses her displeasure. Maybe, to best share her grievance, the emerging entertainer, consciously chooses to use all capital letters. Whatever the case, she clearly conveys her message.

“LAME AS HELL!!! RUNNING UP ON MY BROTHER ON SOME SLIPPERY ASS FLOORS WITH 5/6 OF YA BOYS WHILE HE’S BY HIMSELF AND NOT EVEN TOUCHING HIM,” reads the agitated declaration, Soon, DL insists the entire incident is, “LAME AND SO SAD!!!!”

Eventually, the chanteuse concedes, “I PRAY THIS STOPS NOW !!! BC THIS IS MY FAMILY! AND I GOT A DAUGHTER TO RAISE. SAD,” a red broken-hearted emoji sums up the statement. Sometime, after sharing the communication DaniLeigh decides to delete her entire Instagram account.

Kanye West Threatens To Bail On Coachella, Demands Billie Eilish Apology

Kanye West called out Billie Eilish over a perceived jab at Travis Scott.

‘Ye suggested he won’t perform at the 2022 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival unless Billie Eilish apologizes to Travis Scott. Kanye West took aim at her for a comment made during a recent concert in Atlanta.

“I wait for people to be OK before I keep going,” Billie Eilish said when she stopped her show to make sure a fan was alright.

Some observers believe the remark was a Travis Scott diss referencing the Astroworld tragedy. Kanye West took it that way, prompting him to address Billie Eilish on Instagram.

“COME ON BILLIE WE LOVE YOU PLEASE APOLOGIZE TO TRAV AND TO THE FAMILIES OF THE PEOPLE WHO LOST THEIR LIVES NO ONE INTENDED THIS TO HAPPEN,” he wrote. “TRAV DIDN’T HAVE ANY IDEA OF WHAT WAS HAPPENING WHEN HE WAS ON STAGE AND WAS VERY HURT BY WHAT HAPPENED.”

Kanye West also claimed Travis Scott will be with him at the upcoming Coachella Festival. But he’s threatened to pull out of the event if Billie Eilish, a fellow headliner, doesn’t apologize.

“AND YES TRAV WILL BE WITH ME AT COACHELLA BUT NOW I NEED BILLIE TO APOLOGIZE BEFORE I PERFORM,” he declared.

Billie Eilish responded to Kanye West in a comment on his post. She insisted her concert remark had nothing to do with Travis Scott.

“Literally never said a thing about travis,” she wrote. “was just helping a fan.”

The 2022 Coachella Festival is scheduled to begin on April 15. Billie Eilish is headlining on April 16 and 23 while Kanye West is atop the bill on April 17 and 24.

DaBaby Under Investigation Following Fight With DaniLeigh’s Brother

Police are looking into the bowling alley brawl involving DaBaby and DaniLeigh’s brother Brandon Curiel.

According to The Fader, DaBaby is under investigation for assault with a deadly weapon. Video of the Interscope Records artist and his entourage beating up his ex-girlfriend’s brother surfaced online on Thursday (February 10).

Around 1:20 a.m. this morning, officers responded to a radio call about a battery at Corbin Bowl in Tarzana, California. Police met with the victim, who left the scene after the fight but returned around 3:30 a.m.

DaBaby, whose real name is Jonathan Kirk, allegedly punched Curiel following a verbal confrontation. The controversial rapper’s crew joined in the beatdown, as seen in the footage posted online.

Curiel, who raps under the name Brandon Bills, suffered injuries but refused medical attention. He later called out DaBaby on social media.

“I spoke to you like a man, my n####,” Curiel said. “I said, ‘Yo, come let’s talk one-on-one like some men, my n####.’ Me and you on the side, my n####. On some real n#### s###, my n####. That’s some b####-ass n#### s###. Ain’t no brownie points there.”

Curiel’s sister DaniLeigh is the mother of DaBaby’s youngest daughter. Their relationship drama has played out in the public eye, including a heated argument that was streamed on Instagram Live.

Last November, DaniLeigh was charged with two counts of simple assault. Police said DaBaby accused her of assaulting him. DaniLeigh left his home with their daughter after the incident.

Rapper Big Bhris Identified As Gunman In Recent Atlanta Cop Shooting

Atlanta rapper Big Bhris, an alleged member of the Young Slime Life gang, is accused of shooting an Atlanta Police officer.

According to 11 Alive, the 22-year-old artist, whose real name is Chris Eppinger, is said to have shot Officer David Rodgers six times on Monday, February 7th.

A warrant states that the rising rapper, who released the song “On the Block,” shot the cop after he tried to detain him for an armed robbery charge.

The larceny that Big Bhris was wanted for happened in October.

Allegedly, the YSL member robbed another artist who was filming a rap video in a park located behind Cleveland Avenue Library. Big Bhris and an associate allegedly stole the person’s iPhone, Gucci wallet, diamond earrings, and Rolex watch.

Big Bhris is said to have gloated on social media about the theft, posting the items for others to see. Rodgers had a warrant secured to legally arrest the man for the aforementioned crime.

Rodgers sustained substantial injuries from the assault. One bullet struck him in the side of his head, one hit him in the knee, and four others pounded into his shoulder.

As a result, Big Bhris faces attempted murder charges, coupled with charges related to his alleged gang affiliations.

However, the “Murder on My Mind” rapper says that he did not do it.

He might deny this shooting, but videos on his YouTube are making it difficult for the artist to deny his affiliation with YSL.

The warrant says, “Numerous videos featuring ‘Big Bhris’ have been posted on YouTube of which Mr. Eppinger and other documented YSL gang members wearing YSL clothing can be observed displaying firearms and throwing up YSL gang hand signs pledging their allegiance to the gang and taunting rival gang members.”

The gang is notoriously known for its “ruthless pedestrian and home invasion style robberies” as well as “drive-by shootings resulting in death and serious injury,” the Atlanta Police Department states.

The force also contends that members are drug dealers who are “known to sell and possess illegal narcotics ranging from marijuana, cocaine, ecstasy, and liquid promethazine/codeine cough syrup.”

Law enforcement has presented such a case, that Big Bhris will have an uphill battle to prove that he is innocent while behind bars.

On Tuesday, February 8th, a judge denied the rapper bond, holding him for the cop’s shooting and armed robbery charges.

The judge stated that he believed the alleged gang member to be a flight risk and would likely re-offend.

Mary J. Blige Dishes On Her Super Bowl Performance And New Album

Mary J. Blige shared her big plans for her upcoming Super Bowl 56 Halftime Show performance.

The Queen of Hip-Hop Soul will appear alongside other rap musical greats like Kendrick Lamar, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and Dr. Dre.

According to an interview on Good Morning America, the Yonkers native says that after she and the crew burn down the stage, “L.A. is never going to be the same.”

The singer returns to the Super Bowl stage after 18 years. Her first performance was in 2004, with Aerosmith, N’SYNC, and Britney Spears.

This time, Mary J. Blige and the superstar cast of rappers will perform during the 12 minutes that Jay-Z, the entertainment advisor, allotted for the half-time show.

In describing the show, Mary said, “This is the most epic thing in music, like in Hip-Hop and R&B history.”

“I’ve watched the rehearsals, trying to see the other performances, and man, I got goosebumps watching them,” she revealed. “It’s going to be a celebration of how far Hip-Hop has come and how far R&B has come.”

Mary stated that her performance would also focus on uplifting people with music, beauty, and fashion.

In addition to her routine, she will also star in a half-time commercial, doubling her chances to be the most talked-about person during the morning recaps after the game.

The commercial will not sell a major brand — she will not be reviving her “Crispy Chicken” Burger King endorsement.

This crucial spot will focus on women’s health, encouraging women to get their mammograms.”

“Women, we do so much, but a lot of us forget about taking care of ourselves,” she stated.

If that is not enough, her new album, Good Morning Gorgeous, will drop on Friday, February 11th, two days before the big football dance.

Julia Fox Unbothered By Kanye’s Desire For Kim: “He’s With Me Now”

Julia Fox is aware her boyfriend Kanye West may have “residual feelings” for his estranged wife, Kim Kardashian.

The “Uncut Gems” actress told Alex Cooper on her podcast “Call Her Daddy” that she’s not intimidated by the rapper’s feelings for the reality star as he’s in a relationship with her now.

“I’m sure there’s still some residual feelings, and that’s normal, it’s human,” the 32-year-old stated. “I also know that he’s with me now. And that’s all that matters.”

She admitted elsewhere in the conversation that she’s “been so jealous and possessive in my relationships” in the past and doesn’t want to be like that anymore.

Kanye West has publicly asked Kardashian to take him back several times, most recently on Wednesday in response to her Vogue photoshoot with their four children.

Fox met West on New Year’s Eve in Miami, and they swiftly embarked on a highly publicized romance. When asked if they had “put a label” on their relationship, she replied, “I call him my boyfriend, and he calls me his girlfriend.”

She also described their romance as “organic” and “natural” and praised Ye for wanting her “to be the best version of myself.”

The star also addressed speculation that the romance is a publicity stunt, adding, “Time will tell, you’ll just see… Obviously, it looks a certain way, but people don’t know the conversations happening behind the scenes, and you know, I’ve been around.”

During the podcast appearance, Fox also admitted that she has deliberately worn similar outfits to Kardashian but called the comparisons between them “unfortunate” and insisted that West influenced both of their looks.

“If anything I think the conversation should be how heavily Kim was influenced by Kanye,” she stated.
