Offset Ends Legal Fight Against Quality Control Music

It appears Kiari Cephus (aka Offset) has decided to drop his lawsuit against his longtime music label home, Quality Control Music.

According to TMZ, Offset filed to dismiss his suit against Quality Control Music with prejudice. Apparently, the 31-year-old rapper will no longer release music through the Atlanta-based company.

Offset accused Quality Control of breaching their contract. Reports claimed the Migos member sued QC to prevent the Kevin “Coach K” Lee and Pierre “P” Thomas-founded label from making money off his solo efforts.

Both sides reportedly negotiated a settlement in January 2021. Offset supposedly believed the deal gave him ownership rights to his recordings and songwriting credits. QC argued that Set actually breached the settlement agreement.

At one point, Offset and Pierre “P” Thomas addressed the legal conflict in public. Last year, P stated, “The last lawsuit was filed publicly and dismissed quietly. Let’s see how this one [goes]. Been [too] real for all this lame s###. Everyone [knows] the real problem.”

Set fired back, “N##### act like I’m the problem. I paid millions to get my rights back. N####, you blackballed me. I ain’t said s### one time, homie. I ain’t spoke to you in 2 years, now I drop and you want ya name on my credit?”

With the legal dispute with Quality Control evidently behind him, Offset seems ready to release his long-awaited second studio album in the near future. The Georgia native recently dropped the “Jealousy’ single featuring his wife, Cardi B.

Father of 4 landed in 2019 via Quality Control Music. The Migos trios, which also included Quavo and the late Takeoff, released four studio LPs between 2015 and 2021. In addition, Offset teamed up with 21 Savage and Metro Boomin for 2017’s Without Warning.

DDG Explains Supporting Kai Cenat Following NYC Riots

Über-popular content creator Kai Cenat became national news over the last week after New York City police officials accused the Twitch streamer of starting a riot. Fellow YouTuber DDG is showing support for the 21-year-old streamer.

On August 4, Kai Cenat attempted to hold a free Playstation giveaway in Union Square Park. Thousands of his followers descended on the location that day causing unattended chaos for the area.

Cenat reportedly did not secure the proper permits from the city. The NYPD charged the gaming influencer with two counts of inciting a riot and unlawful assembly. Authorities released the AMP content group member from custody on Saturday morning.

Billboard caught up with DDG at the publication’s 2023 R&B/Hip-Hop Power Players & Live event. The Maybe It’s Me… album creator explained why he still supports Kai Cenat despite the negative press surrounding him at the moment.

“That’s my homie though,” stated DDG. “Anybody I’m friends with, I’ll ride with them through anything. I just felt they were trying him too much. He was just trying to give back to the people.”

DDG appeared on Kai Cenat’s livestream in September 2022. Plus, the two social media personalities showed up on Memphis rapper NLE Choppa’s YouTube channel earlier this year.

In addition to being an internet star, DDG also releases music as a rapper. Maybe It’s Me… arrived on July 14. His album catalog also includes 2019’s Valedictorian and 2022’s It’s Not Me It’s You.

Many fans also know DDG as the boyfriend of The Little Mermaid actress/Grammy-nominated singer Halle Bailey. Their relationship has been gossip fodder for months with reports claiming the two entertainers split up on more than one occasion.

When asked about Halle Bailey’s new solo single, DDG said, “I gave ‘Angel’ a million streams before it came out. I listen to it a lot. I’m a big supporter of her, obviously, of course.”

Ryan “Rylo Rodriguez” Adams is the first artist signed to Glass Window Entertainment, the label founded by Dominique “Lil Baby” Jones. Glass Window Entertainment also entered a partnership with Capitol Music Group/Motown Records.

“We are excited to welcome Dominique, Rylo, and the Glass Window Entertainment team to Capitol Music Group/Motown Records,” says Michelle Jubelirer, Chair & CEO of Capitol Music Group.

Michelle Jubelirer also adds, “Glass Window and Virgin Records have done a phenomenal job introducing Rylo. We’re thrilled to support this remarkable artist and upcoming Glass Window releases.”

Rylo Rodriguez has worked with Lil Baby on music numerous times. They collaborated on songs such as “Stick On Me” and “5500 Degrees.” The Mobile, Alabama native dropped his Been One studio album on June 30. That project included the song “Real Type” featuring Lil Baby.

“I’m overly excited for Rylo and for his fans and the world to really get to see him on a larger platform! It’s been a long time coming with Rylo and even longer to go! We got work to do and money to get!” Lil Baby states.

In addition, the Atlanta-raised rapper says, “Thank you to Motown/Capitol Music Group and Universal Music Group for trusting my process and I’m looking forward to a wonderful partnership!” Lil Baby currently releases music via Quality Control, Capitol, and Motown.

Digga D & Potter Payper Tease Heavyweight U.K. Rap Collab: “It’s About Time”

Two of the U.K.’s biggest rap stars are joining forces on a new track.

Digga D, who recently declared a move away from his drill music roots, took to Instagram Tuesday to share a photo of himself with Potter Payper. However, this was no ordinary selfie, as the duo took the snap from the studio while hinting they have something coming.

“It’s about time,” Digga D penned in the caption while tagging Potter Payper.

While they remained tight-lipped about the details, fans in the comment section eagerly anticipated the track.

The upcoming track would be Potter’s first since his release from prison earlier this month. Although the reason for his short stint behind bars is unknown, the “Gangsteritus” hitmaker was freed last week.

Potter Payper released his highly anticipated debut album Real Back In Style on 0207 Def Jam, the label’s U.K. arm, back in May amid reports he had been locked up. However, last week, footage surfaced of the East Londoner walking out of jail a free man.

Digga D Says Drill Is Dead

Meanwhile, Digga D recently declared, “drill has come to an end,” claiming the subgenre has become watered down. His upcoming mixtape, Back to Square One, reportedly includes a track titled “F### Drill.” He also teased a new dancehall-infused song that could feature on the project.

No word yet if the Potter Payper and Digga D collab will land on Back to Square One, but fans are eagerly anticipating the track.

The duo could follow in the steps of fellow U.K. rap history-makers Dave and Central Cee. Their single “Sprinter” soared to the top of the U.K. singles chart, where it has stayed for nine consecutive weeks. The remarkable feat makes “Sprinter” the longest-reigning U.K. rap single in U.K. chart history.

Digga D and Potter Payer first teased the collab back in June, and the track could be released at any time.

Tory Lanez Says He Still Cares About Megan Thee Stallion “To This Day” In Pre-Sentence Plea

Tory Lanez asked not to be judged over his conviction for shooting Megan Thee Stallion and claimed he is still friends with the “Say It” hitmaker in a plea to the judge before he was sentenced to 10 years behind bars.

While he opted not to take the stand during his trial, Tory Lanez reportedly admitted “full responsibility” for his wrongs in a statement to the court Tuesday (August 8.)

“If I could turn back the series of events that night and change them, I would,” Lanez stated per ABC News. “The victim was my friend. The victim is someone I still care for to this day. Everything I did wrong that night, I take full responsibility for.”

Tory Lanez spoke for several minutes, and said he and Megan Thee Stallion bonded over losing their mothers.

“We both lost our mothers, he said according to Legal Affairs and Trials reporter Meghann Cuniff. “We would sit there and drink, and drink until we got numb.”

In a statement read to the court Monday (August 7), Megan Thee Stallion declared, “I cannot bring myself back to being in the same room with Tory.”

She also revealed she still suffers from mental scars from the incident. “Since I was viciously shot by the defendant, I have not experienced a single day of peace.”

“He paid bloggers to disseminate false information, he treated my trauma like a joke when I could’ve been dead,” she continued. “He blamed the system, he blamed the press, and as of late he is using his childhood trauma to justify his actions.”

She added, “Slowly but surely, I’m healing. But I’ll never be the same. His crime warrants the full weight of the law.”

Key Glock Accused Of Assault By Girlfriend: “He Put His Hands On Me”

Key Glock’s girlfriend Karin Jinsu has blasted the Memphis-bred rapper in a scathing statement, accusing him of assaulting her.

On Monday (August 8), the “Presidential Rolex” hitmaker took to Twitter to announce he was “Sending this fake godly ass b#### back to da streets.” He then shared another few tweets the following day about his relationship drama claiming his girlfriend isn’t what she appears to be on Instagram.

However, Karin Jinsu responded on Instagram, accusing Key Glock of assaulting her. In a since-deleted post, Jinsu claimed Glock puts on a “Playa” persona for the public but in fact, is a “hurt a** little boy. She claimed he “desperately needs help,” alleging “He put his hands on me Monday because he don’t know how to have grown up conversations.

She also directly addressed Glock’s tweet that he doesn’t “respect nobody who play police games,” denying she contacted the authorities. “I STILL ain’t call the cops or inform the hotel,” Jinsu stated. “I just left… Why he decided to post about the cops & they wasn’t even called is funny as hell.”

Karin Jinsu Claims Key Glock Pursued Her For Four Years

According to Karin Jinsu, Key Glock has little to offer “a grown righteous woman,” like herself, despite “BEGGING me to be in my presence for 4 years.”

In addition, the social media influencer claimed Glock “has no manners,” adding that “he wakes up with a attitude.”

Responding to Glock’s “fake Godly” tweet, Jinsu claimed, “He’s jealous that I put God before him & on a pedestal & it shows.” In addition, she declared, “I never cheated on him,” and says Glock isn’t used to a woman standing up for herself.

“Y’ALL CAN HAVE HIS A**…HE HAS ALL THAT MONEY AND HIS INSIDES IS FILTH! HOPE GOD CAN HELP HIM FIND HIS REAL SELF.,” Jinsu concluded her lengthy post. “I’m embarrassed I even gave this n**** a chance…but hey…. Life goes on right?”

Cardi B Flaunts Waist-Length Natural Hair, Offers Fans Homemade Hair Oil Tutorial

As one of the most photographed women of our time, Cardi B frequently dons an array of wigs and hair pieces in all shapes, colors, and lengths, however, she’s been protecting her natural hair, which now hangs down to her waist.

The “Jealousy” hitmaker flaunted her new hair growth in a new selfie Tuesday evening and offered to share the secret to her butt-length tresses. Cardi B has been using a homemade treatment, but is willing to share a tutorial with her fans.

“My hair has grown sooooo much!!!” she tweeted. “Let me know if y’all want a video my my HOMEMADE hair oil… handmade by ME!”

Fans in the replies praised the NYC icon’s long locks and were eager to get their hands on her handmade oil. However, others urged Cardi B to start a hair care line and put the oil into production

“I want a video of the homemade hair oil,” read one response. “But honestly you should bottle it up and sell it ,it will do numbers.”

Another person believed Cardi B is teasing and might already have a haircare deal in the works. “Lemme find out you entering the hair care sector,” the fan replied.

In other Cardi B news, the rapper avoided criminal charges after hurling a mic at a concertgoer last month. However, after footage of the incident went viral somebody has put the missile to good use. The infamous mic was auctioned off for nearly $100,000 on Tuesday (August 8).

Boosie Badazz Says Tory Lanez Got Off Lightly: “Louisiana He Would Have Got 40”

Boosie Badazz believes Tory Lanez is “lucky” to have received a 10-year sentence for shooting Megan Thee Stallion.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge David Herriford handed down the sentence to the R&B singer Tuesday (August 8). Under California law, the 31-year-old will likely only serve 85 percent of his sentence.

However, in an Instagram Live chat following the sentencing, Boosie said Tory Lanez “came out good,” adding that he would have received a much stiffer sentence if the trial had been in Louisiana.

“A crime on a woman, highly televised,” Boosie mused before adding Tory Lanez would have got “40 n####, no cap.” He reflected on his own ten-year sentence adding, “Straight to Angola. He was lucky he ain’t in Louisiana.”

While Boosie admitted he doesn’t know California law, he believes Lanez will bounce back after serving a few years.

“He ain’t gon’ do nothing but three years on that,” Boosie continued. “Louisiana, he would have got 40 [years]. I got 10 years for third-offense marijuana. Twenty-five grams, another couple grams and some more grams. He’ll be back, stronger than ever. You can’t take his talent away. He gon’ be back.” Check out the clip below.

Last December, a jury found Tory Lanez guilty, and he was convicted of three felonies, including assault with a semiautomatic firearm. Prosecutors originally sought a 13-year sentence while Lanez’s attorneys argued for probation and drug rehab for the Canadian artist.

Georgia Official & Sheriff Clash Over Rap Video Filmed Inside Fulton County Jail

An inmate created controversy by filming a rap video at the Fulton County Jail in Georgia. Fulton County Sheriff Pat Labat defended his department after a local commissioner criticized the lack of supervision in the jail on Tuesday (August 8).

“Am I surprised by this? No,” Commissioner Bob Ellis told Fox 5 Atlanta.

A contractor working at the Georgia jail used their phone to film a music video for an incarcerated rapper. Several inmates joined in the unauthorized video shoot while an officer stood by and watched. The officer resigned after the video surfaced online.

Ellis cited the rap video as one of several examples of insufficient oversight at the jail. Sheriff Labat said his department has been dealing with staffing shortages and “other challenges.”

“Every law enforcement agency in the country is confronting critical staffing shortages,” Labat said. “Better pay certainly helps, but that’s only one component of building a qualified and trusted staff.

He added, “If you look at voting records and which commissioners have reached out directly and even visited the jail, it will be clear which ones are interested in sustainable solutions and which ones are obsessed with playing politics.”

Ellis told Fox 5 Atlanta he visited the jail in February.

Snoop Dogg Advises Moneybagg Yo To Make A Movie; Offers Blueprint On How To Do It

Snoop Dogg encouraged Moneybagg Yo to expand beyond music on a new episode of the web show GGN. The D-O-Double G explained why he wanted to see Moneybagg Yo make a movie during an interview with the Memphis-bred rapper.

“I feel like you more than just a rap star,” Snoop Dogg told Moneybagg Yo. “And the people showing you that by the way they show up for your concerts.”

Moneybagg Yo asked Snoop Dogg for advice about balancing music with creating a film. The Doggfather suggested a way to combine the two.

“You make your record your movie, the soundtrack to your movie,” Snoop Dogg said. “Like you say, everything you write about is s### you went through, going through or you seen. Picture that being a m############ movie. If Moneybagg Yo had a movie to all his music right now, what would like that? Not a video – a movie.”

He added, “When you do your record, you do your record like, ‘OK, this record is strictly for this movie. I’ma shoot videos out of this s###, but I’m making a m############ movie, so you n##### can understand who I am.’”

Check out the rest of Snoop Dogg’s conversation with Moneybagg Yo here. The second half of their interview will be released on August 22.

Hip-Hop Pioneer Melle Mel Delivers Explosive Response To Eminem’s Recent Diss

As promised, Melle Mel has delivered a new diss track aimed at Eminem. The Hip-Hop pioneer uploaded the track to his YouTube channel, Melle Mel’s Hip Hop Corner, on Tuesday (August 8).

Listen to it in full below and keep scrolling for background.

Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five legend Melle Mel is responding to Eminem’s recent diss. A member of Melle Mel’s team tells AllHipHop “The Message” pioneer has a full-blown diss track aimed at Slim Shady locked and loaded. In an exclusive clip, which can be accessed below, Melle Mel has provided a teaser from the song with the lyrics, “No apologies, this ain’t a disclaimer/I’m the king of legends, the first Hall of Famer/Making diss tracks, I know you’re with that/Now everybody get ready for the kickback.”

The back-and-forth started in March when Melle Mel told the Art of Dialogue that Eminem wouldn’t be on anyone’s top rappers list if he was Black.

“Obviously, he’s a capable rapper,” Melle Mel said at the time. “If you was talking about sales, he sold more than everybody. If you talking about rhyme style – OK, he got a rhyme style. But he’s white! He’s white! If Eminem was just another n#### like all the rest of us, would he be Top 5 on that list when a n#### that can rhyme just as good as him is 35?”

He continued, “And the point is this – if I was white, n####, I’d be greater than Elvis … Melle Mel is greater than Elvis. Melle Mel is the greatest white man that has ever lived. He came up with a culture. He was part of a culture that changed the whole world. That is a great a## white man right there. But I’m not white. I’m one of the n#####.”

After more than four months of silence, Eminem finally responded to Melle Mel last week on the Ez Mill single “Realest.” He rapped, “Shoutout to Furious Five and Grandmaster Flash, but boy/There’s someone who really is furious/Stay out his path, his wrath avoid/ I’ll be the last to toy with a juice head whose brain is half destroyed, like a meteor hit it/Now with Melle Mel, he lost his a## to ‘roids.”

The entire track arrives on Tuesday (August 8) at 5 p.m. EST on Melle Mel’s YouTube channel. Find the teaser clip below, and stay up to date on Melle Mel’s moves here.

Tory Lanez Gets Whopping 10-Year Sentence In Megan Thee Stallion Shooting Case

Tory Lanez was reportedly sentenced to 10 years in prison on Tuesday (August 8). According to a tweet from legal affairs journalist Meghann Cunniff,  the embattled rapper will spend the next decade behind bars, although he’ll likely only have to serve 85 percent of his sentence under California law.

Tory Lanez was found guilty of shooting Megan Thee Stallion in December 2022, and he’s been locked up at Los Angeles County Jail ever since. Lanez’s attorneys were originally seeking probation and drug rehab for the Canadian artist. Earlier this month, his legal team issued a memo to the court pleading with the judge for a light sentence—instead of the 13 years prison time requested by prosecutors. In the lengthy memo, lawyers argue Lanez—real name Daystar Peterson—should be given treatment rather than a lengthy sentence due to his “childhood trauma” and substance abuse issues.

“Assuming the allegations are true, Mr. Peterson’s psychological, physical, and childhood trauma was a factor in the commission of the offense,” the filing stated. “Likewise, the current offense is connected to Mr. Peterson’s childhood trauma and mental illness, alcohol-use disorder. Mr. Peterson’s alcohol-use disorder, although not amounting to a defense, reduced his culpability.”

Tory Lanez’s attorneys also cited the ” devastating impact” imprisonment will have on Lanez and his six-year-old son, Kai. Finally, they claimed evidence of Lanez’s guilt “is questionable at best and by no means overwhelming.” While Judge Herriford said he wouldn’t consider a “lack of remorse” as a major aggravating factor in his sentence, he considered Lanez’s actions after the shooting—including the social media posts and harassment of Megan Thee Stallion —when handing down the sentence.

TDE Artist Reason Calls Label’s President A “Master Manipulator” During Intense Argument

Top Dawg Entertainment president Moosa belittled TDE artist Reason on an episode of the Back on Figg podcast. The two got into a heated argument after Moosa called into the show to object to Reason’s album rollout frustrations.

“Can you name 10 Reason songs?” Moosa asked the podcast hosts. “[Former TDE executive] Dave [Free] never wanted us to sign Reason. He called him a substitute teacher.”

Moosa blamed Reason for failing to generate buzz. The TDE president mentioned newer signees Doechii and Ray Vaughn as examples of artists finding more success with less output than Reason, who said he wasn’t allowed to release new music as often as he wanted.

Reason also claimed label delays prevented him from securing certain features. Moosa dismissed the notion of the collaborations helping the TDE artist’s career.

“This n####’s a master manipulator,” Reason said of Moosa. “I never said Doechii would make or break my career. I never said a feature would make or break my career … You’re a manipulator. You’re lying.”

Reason insisted he never attacked TDE and criticized Moosa’s response. The rapper swore he simply told the truth about situations he’s dealt with in his career.

“All I said on this podcast was my only issue was being consistent, and I have not been allowed to be consistent,” he said.

Fans wondered if the argument was staged to promote Reason’s new album Porches. He denied the speculation on Tuesday (August 8).

“I appreciate ppl that’s reached out to me,” Reason wrote on Twitter. “Trust I’m as good as I can be. We’ll have a real convo at some point about what happened, just trust that wasn’t a ‘rollout move’ lol that actually happened! All positive energy as of now moving forward tho! Porches Friday! Love y’all!”

Reason’s new album drops on Friday (August 11).

Grandmaster Flash & The Furious Five “Bury The Hatchet” Following Rahiem’s Public Apology

Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five was the first Hip-Hop group inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, largely thanks to their groundbreaking single, “The Message” (1982). Heralded as one of rap’s first socio-political songs, the track blazed a trail for MCs like Chuck D and KRS-One to deliver their own politically-charged content. But behind the scenes, tensions within the group were tearing them apart and they eventually went their separate ways. Melle Mel teamed up with Scorpio, Grandmaster Flash and Rahiem went on their own, as did Kidd Creole until his 2017 arrest.

Even as they were inducted into the famed Rock Hall, it seemed they’d never mend fences—until now. On Tuesday (August 8), just three days before Hip-Hop’s official 50th birthday, Rahiem issued a public apology to the fellow members of the group, bringing a longstanding grudge to a close.

“I’ve been doing a little soul searching and I’d like to extend an olive branch in light of this 50th anniversary of Hip-Hop to my beloved brothers Melle Mel and Scorpio of the Furious Five, and retract any ill or deragatory statements that I’ve made publicly about you that could have hurt you or your families,” he says in the clip. “I humbly apologize. It is my wish that I would love to see Grandmaster Flash, Melle Mel, Scorpio and myself once again take the stage and unify ’cause there’s a lot going on in Hip-Hop right now, and I think Hip-Hop needs our unification.

“I think this is much bigger than me and how I feel personally. I would just like to bury the hatchet, moving forward, no matter what happened in the past. We can’t move forward looking back. I employ that ideology and I humbly ask for your forgiveness for anything that I have said or done to make you feel slighted or disrespected. I humbly apologize. Hip-Hop needs this. Happy 50th anniversary of Hip-Hop.

Legendary New York City  promotor Van Silk tells AllHipHop, “The message from Rahiem is great for Hip-Hop. Grandmaster Flash and the Furious Five are trailblazers in Hip-Hop. Just to see this as a part of moving forward is great. For me, it’s been 25 years working on this, but I’m happy to see my brother make the first step.”

Charlie Mack and Walter Reed Jr. also played integral roles in unifying the group, which Van Silk denotes in his caption. He wrote: “TIME TO MOVE FORWARD!!! Keep it positive!!! Apology Accepted!! Rahiem message to Mele Mel & Scorpio! The Olive Branch has be extended! As we all celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Hip Hop @rahiem.official Rahiem from Grandmaster Flash & the Furious 5 extended the Olive Branch to Mele Mel & Scorpio his band mate. Let’s not forget Grandmaster Flash and our brother the #KiddCreole. TIME TO MOVE FORWARD! Let make magic again hopefully. Salute to #waltjrbigblocent & #charliemackfirstout. HIP HOP LIVES ON!!!!”

Van Silk has planned a giant blowout on Friday (August 11) from noon to 6 p.m. ET at Mill Pond Park in the Bronx with Public Enemy’s Chuck D, Chill Rob G, Fearless 4, Busy Bee Starski, Sweet Tee, Kool Kyle the Star Child and many, many more. Coke La Rock, the Original Spindarella, Pete Nice, Sheri Sher and Paradise will serve as hosts, while DJ Kevie Kev Rockwell will provide the music. An open cypher by Red Bull BC One and murals by the Thrive Collective—including TATS crew, Lady Pink and Queen Andrea—will represent the breaking and graffiti art elements of the culture.

Cardi B Money Moves: Microphone Thrown At Fan Sold For Almost $100K

Cardi B unintentionally helped raise money for charity by throwing a microphone at a concertgoer. The infamous microphone was auctioned off for nearly $100,000 on Tuesday (August 8).

An eBay auction for the microphone closed with a winning bid of $99,900. The item was sold by the owner of The Wave, the audio company that provided the microphone for Cardi B’s show in Las Vegas.

Cardi B threw the microphone at a fan while performing at Drai’s Beachclub & Nightclub on July 29. Someone in the crowd tossed a drink at her, which led to her hurling the microphone at an audience member.

A woman reported the incident as a battery on July 30. Las Vegas police investigated but decided not to pursue charges against Cardi B.

“We were notified by the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Dept. that as a result of their investigation, there will be NO charges against Cardi,” Cardi B’s attorneys announced on August 3. “On behalf of Cardi, we appreciate the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Dept’s diligent and prompt resolution of this matter.”

The Wave’s owner recovered the microphone and launched an online auction for it. He said 100 percent of the proceeds will be donated to the Wound Warrior Project and a local Las Vegas charity called Friendship Circle.

Jay-Z’s 2023 Made In America Festival Canceled—Fans Blame Lizzo

The 2023 Made In America festival scheduled to take place at Philadelphia’s Benjamin Franklin Parkway over Labor Day weekend has been canceled. According to an Instagram post shared on Tuesday (August 7), the annual concert ran into production issues beyond the organizers’ control. As the post explains, “Due to severe circumstances outside of production control, the 2023 Made in America festival will no longer be taking place. This decision has been difficult and has not been made lightly nor without immense deliberation.”

The post goes on to say the Made In America will return in 2024 and assured all ticket holders their money would be refunded at the original point of purchase. Of course, fans had their own theories as to why the festival was canceled—and they mostly blamed Lizzo. The ‘Truth Hurts” singer is currently being sued by three of her former dancers who accuse her of sexual harassment and weight-shaming.

One commenter wrote, “Ugggh thanks a lot Lizzo,” while another said, “No surprise when your headliner is literally being sued. And y’all lessen the genre of music and the number of artist,” sentiments that echoed throughout the post.

https://www.instagram.com/p/CvsL5zxxeNV/

2023’s Made In America  festival was originally scheduled for September 2 and 3 with headliners Lizzo and SZA. Additional performances were to include Miguel, TEMS, Metro Boomin, Ice Spice, Coi Leray, Latto, Lil Yachty, Doechii and Lola Brooke, among others. A “very special joint set” from Ma$e and Cam’ron were also on the schedule. Made In America was founded in 2012 by Roc Nation boss JAY-Z, who closed out the inaugural show’s first night.

“The Made In America festival has become synonymous with Labor Day Weekend,” Roc Nation CEO Desiree Perez said in a statement earlier this year. “2022 was an overwhelming success with our headliners, Bad Bunny and Tyler, the Creator, all the amazing talent on the line-up, and the positive energy from all our attendees.”

Iggy Azalea Responds To Backlash For Supporting Tory Lanez Following Assault Conviction

Australian rapper Iggy Azalea found herself in the middle of the ongoing legal drama involving Tory Lanez and Megan Thee Stallion. Many critics blasted Azalea for reportedly still backing Lanez despite the Canadian musician’s guilty verdict.

In December 2022, a California jury convicted Tory Lanez (born Daystar Peterson) of assault with a semiautomatic handgun, having a loaded and unregistered firearm in a vehicle, and gross negligence in discharging his firearm.

The highly-publicized court case stemmed from a July 2020 shooting that left Hip Hop star Megan Thee Stallion injured. Apparently, Iggy Azalea wrote one of over five dozen letters to the judge set to decide Lanez’s sentencing.

“Judge Herriford got 70+ letters of support for Tory Lanez, including one from @IggyAzalea,” posted noted courthouse reporter Meghann Cuniff on August 7. Cuniff later added, “Judge Herriford said [Iggy Azalea’s] letter asks him to impose a sentence ‘that is transformational, not life-destroying.'”

As Meghann Cuniff’s first-hand account tweets spread across the platform, social media users slammed Iggy Azalea for supposedly asking for Tory Lanez to receive a light punishment for shooting Megan Thee Stallion.

In particular, many people pointed out the possible hypocrisy from Azalea because she previously made statements about violent male abusers. She publicly chastised her ex-boyfriend, Atlanta rapper Playboi Carti, for allegedly abusing women.

Iggy Azalea has now responded to the negative reactions to writing a letter to the judge on Tory Lanez’s behalf. The New Classic album creator shared a lengthy statement on the X (formerly Twitter) social media platform.

She stated:

For the record: 1. I have not been in touch with Tory for months, I have no reason to be, but I do wish him well. 2. I don’t “support” anyone. The whole thing is full of oddities. My letter never mentioned anything in regard to what happened that night. 3. I was told this was for a judge only, yet it’s being discussed in public? I never intended to publicly comment. 4. I am not in support of throwing away ANY ones life if we can give reasonable punishments that are rehabilitative instead. I support prison reform. Period. 5. I was asked to write about my genuine experience and the type of punishment I think he deserves: I did. It’s not really that interesting but I understand why it’s being sensationalized… 🤷‍♀️. See ya next week to discuss pizza toppings I suppose. Lol.

@IGGYAZALEA

Iggy Azalea and Tory Lanez do have a personal history. There were rumors that the two immigrants dated for a while. Plus, in October 2022, Lanez announced he would be executive producing an upcoming music project by Azalea. That proposed album has yet to come out.

Raven-Symoné Says Father “Strongly Suggested” She Get Dangerous Plastic Surgery As A Minor

Actress Raven-Symoné of “Cosby Show” fame shared a dark secret about coming up as a child star.

On an episode of The Best Podcast Ever with Raven and Miranda—the podcast she does with her wife, Miranda Maday—she said while working on “That’s So Raven,” her father pusher her to get plastic surgery because she was getting chubby. She said the first thing he persuaded her to do is get her breast reduced because people were calling her “fat.”

“I had two breast reductions and lipo before I turned 18,” she said. “There was paperwork involved. My dad suggested strongly that I should get my breasts reduced. He was like, ‘So you don’t feel bad, is there anything that you want?’ I was like, ‘Yeah, if I get lipo, will people stop calling me fat?’ So I got a two-fer. It was just a mess, just being that young and the pain of it all.”

Saweetie received her first Platinum plaque from the RIAA for her 2017 breakout single “Icy Grl” off the High Maintenance EP. She went on to earn additional Platinum certifications for other tracks like “Tap In,” “My Type,” and “Best Friend” featuring Doja Cat.

Last November, the Warner recording artist dropped the 6-track The Single Life EP. Her music catalog also contains other projects such as 2019’s Icy and 2021’s Pretty Summer Playlist: Season 1. However, fans are still waiting for her debut studio LP.

“I feel like a debut album is not something you just put out,” Saweetie told E! News in March. “It’s not something you play with. I’m a Cancer so I like to overthink sometimes, but I think you have to be really careful with that and I take my art really [seriously].”

In addition to creating music and online content, Saweetie also tried her hand at acting. She had a guest star run on the college-themed Freeform sitcom Grown-ish. The California-bred entertainer played herself on an episode of Peacock’s Bel-Air as well.

Travis Scott’s ‘Utopia’ Opens At No. 1 With Nearly 500K First-Week Units

Travis Scott can now claim to have the biggest-selling week for a Hip Hop album in 2023. The Houston native’s Utopia skyrocketed to the top of the charts.

According to Billboard, Utopia debuted with 496,000 equivalent album units in its first week of release. That final total was enough for Travis Scott to easily take the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 rankings.

With Utopia leading the latest album chart, Travis Scott scored the third Number One of his career. Previously, the rapper/producer made it to the No. 1 position with 2016’s Birds In The Trap Sing McKnight and 2018’s Astroworld.

Utopia racked up 331 million streams for 243,000 SEA units. The project also amassed 252,000 units in pure sales. Both of those numbers represent the second-largest sums for the respective categories for the year.

Travis Scott even managed to sell 79,000 vinyl copies of Utopia during the initial tracking week. Luminate, the music consumption data provider, claims that is the largest vinyl sales week for a Hip Hop album since the company began calculating sales in 1991.

For Utopia, Travis Scott collaborated with a star-studded line-up of guest acts. The 73-minute project features Drake, Playboi Carti, Beyoncé, 21 Savage, The Weeknd, Swae Lee, Young Thug, Westside Gunn, Kid Cudi, Bad Bunny, SZA, Future, James Blake, and more.

Fellow Texas native Post Malone came in at No. 2 on this week’s Billboard 200 chart. His Austin album opened with 113,000 first-week units. Of that 113,000 amount, around 78,000 came from streaming equivalent album units.
