Juelz Santana Checks DJ Vlad For Trying To Start Drama With Jadakiss

Controversial Hip Hop media figure Vladimir “DJ Vlad” Lyubovny often faces criticism for focusing on the negativity in the culture. Juelz Santana sat down with DJ Vlad, and the Dipset rapper took issue with a certain line of questioning.

Dipset took part in one of the most memorable Verzuz battles in the history of the music series. Juelz Santana, Cam’ron, Jim Jones, and Freekey Zekey faced off against The Lox’s Sheek Louch, Styles P, and Jadakiss in August 2021.

DJ Vlad began talking to Juelz Santana about that historic Verzuz event that took place inside New York City’s Hulu Theater at Madison Square Garden. However, Santana shut down Vlad before he could even finish a question.

“The one thing that bothered me, personally, since we know each other, watching it, was when Jadakiss grabbed the bandana off your head. I just thought that was just really f###### disrespectful,” said DJ Vlad.

Juelz Santana then cut off Vlad and replied, “You’re trying to start some s###, Vlad. Shut up, Vlad. No, you’re not gonna do that. It was all fair [in] love and war. Nah, Vlad. Stop what you’re doing. It wasn’t [disrespectful].”

Then Santana suggested that if the interaction with Jadakiss had turned violent, people like DJ Vlad would be blasting both emcees. Santana also made it clear that he and Kiss have a certain level of respect and love for each other that was put on display at the classic Verzuz.

“Say it would’ve turned into something escalated, right? Then that would’ve been bad, right?” Santana asked Vlad. “You said what you said, I respect it. But that’s why I’m gonna check it. I’m not gonna let you do that. You’re still my man. It was a good lil’ shot. But I gonna nip it in the bud.”

This year has also seen other Hip Hop personalities call out DJ Vlad for various reasons. Back in March, Top Dawg Entertainment’s Terrence “Punch” Henderson Jr. slammed the VladTV founder for what he saw as the promotion of clickbait headlines. A few months later Memphis rapper NLE Choppa also clash with Vlad over the blogger’s online content.

Beyoncé Wins Top Categories At 2022 Soul Train Awards

BET presented the televised 2022 Soul Train Awards over the weekend. Global superstar Beyoncé became the big winner of the ceremony with three victories.

Beyoncé won Song Of The Year for “Break My Soul” and Album Of The Year for Renaissance. The Parkwood Entertainment founder also won Best Collaboration for “Make Me Say It Again, Girl” by The Isley Brothers.

Other prominent 2022 Soul Train Award winners include Mary J. Blige (Certified Soul Award), Tems (Best New Artist), Silk Sonic’s “Smokin Out The Window” (Video Of The Year), and Lizzo’s “About Damn Time” (Best Dance Performance).

Jazmine Sullivan prevailed in the Best R&B/Soul Female Artist category. Chris Brown added another trophy to his display case by winning Best R&B/Soul Male Artist. Muni Long’s “Hrs and Hrs” won The Ashford & Simpson Songwriter’s Award. The R&B vocalist also performed.

Ari Lennox, Tank, Coco Jones, Q, Chanté Moore, and SiR performed at the show too. Plus, Lady of Soul Award honorees Xscape ran through some of the girl group’s biggest hits after being introduced by So So Def Recordings founder Jermaine Dupri.

Morris Day & The Time closed out the night. The iconic 1980s/1990s Funk band took home the Legend Award. Morris Day & The Time also performed a medley of their classics that included “Cool,” “777-9311,” “Jungle Love,” and “The Bird.”

The pre-show featured performances and appearances by Baby Tate, DIXSON, J. Holiday, FLO, and Vedo. Tank covered the Main Stage and Letoya Luckett covered the Correspondent Stage for the Red Carpet Special. Comedian Deon Cole served as the host for the main show. An encore presentation of the 2022 Soul Train Awards will air on Thursday, December 1 at 9 pm ET/PT on BET.

Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ Returns To The Top 10 For The First Time In 38 Years

Michael Jackson let loose the groundbreaking Thriller in 1982. Many fans of the King of Pop celebrated the album’s 40-year anniversary by revisiting the masterpiece over the last week.

Sony Music and the Estate of Michael Jackson presented a special Thriller 40 double-disc version of the project. The second disc includes never-released tracks Jackson worked on during the Thriller recording sessions.

Enough consumers still had enough interest in Michael Jackson and Thriller to push the album back into the Top 10 of this week’s Billboard 200 chart. Thriller rose from #115 to #7, its first run in the Top 10 region since 1984.

After its release in November 1982, Thriller remained at #1 on the Billboard 200 for 37 nonconsecutive weeks. That total is the second most weeks in the top spot of all time, only behind the 54 weeks for the West Side Story soundtrack in the 1960s.

Michael Jackson’s name was also in the news lately because of the controversy surrounding Chris Brown not being able to perform at the 2022 American Music Awards. Brown claimed the producers of the show canceled his planned tribute to one of his music idols.

Apparently, the AMAs tapped Chris Brown and fellow R&B singer Ciara to pay homage to Jackson as an anniversary celebration for Thriller. However, a spokesperson connected to Dick Clark Productions told Entertainment Tonight that the Brown/Ciara set was pulled as a “matter of creative direction.” 

Michael Jackson’s Thriller is one of the most commercially successful albums of all time. The Recording Industry Association of America has certified the album as 34x-Platinum. “Billie Jean” and the title track have both reached RIAA Diamond status (10 million units).

Drake & 21 Savage Discuss Helping Each Other Write Verses For ‘Her Loss’ Album

There has been a lot of conversation in Hip Hop recently about co-writing or ghostwriting. Two of the top stars in the genre, Drake and 21 Savage, have now opened up about the topic of getting help with their lyrics.

Drake and 21 Savage dropped the Her Loss studio LP on November 4. The project opened at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart with 404,000 first-week units, the highest one-week sales for a 2022 rap album.

Audio of Drake and 21 Savage discussing Her Loss has gone viral on social media. In particular, the two rhymers discussed helping the other with some of the bars on the body of work.

“I ain’t gonna cap, Drake wrote some of my verses on this album,” stated 21 Savage. “These facts. I don’t give a f### what a n#### say. Drake helped me with some of my verses on this album.”

Then Drizzy chimed in, “By the way, you also helped me with s### too.” This statement from Drake comes after he has been embroiled in ghostwriting rumors for a large part of his music career.

Other Rappers Repeatedly Slammed Drake For Allegedly Using Ghostwriters

Meek Mill feuded with Drake in 2015. The beef included the release of a reference track for Drake’s verse on their “R.I.C.O.” collaboration. In addition, reference tracks for other Drake verses leaked as well.

Pusha T also lyrically attacked his longtime rival over allegations that Drake got help penning his rhymes. Plus, some listeners speculated that Kendrick Lamar used “King Kunta” to take a subliminal shot at Drake allegedly using ghostwriters.

The “ghostwriting” label does not seem to be as damaging as it once was for a Hip Hop artist. Latto recently acknowledged using reference tracks and writers for her creative process. JT also admitted that Nicki Minaj assisted her in writing bars for a track.

Drake and 21 Savage’s Her Loss includes one guest feature from Houston rapper Travis Scott. The album remained at #2 on this week’s Billboard 200 chart with an additional 119,000 units collected over the latest tracking period.

After learning about him, I found out he was a little person from St. Louis. Well he and another rapper Jizzle Buck were among 14 people that were arrested and charged with a rainbow coalition of charges.

Prosecutors say Jizzle Buck and Luh Half. who are both 25 years old, lead a criminal organization called the 55 Boyz. The Department of Justice accuses the group of drug trafficking and gun violence in the St. Louis area. Jizzle Buck, Luh Half and 12 others were charged with conspiring to distribute fentanyl. Certain defendants also face charges for fentanyl possession, fentanyl distribution, possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime, conspiracy to tamper with a witness and more.

Kanye West Calls Out Elon Musk For Refusing To Unban Alex Jones From Twitter

Kanye West will seemingly talk to anyone these days—as long as they’re willing to listen. On Saturday (November 26), the G.O.O.D. Music founder was stopped by The Hollywood Fix as he was leaving a church and addressed a myriad of topics. Wearing a “YE 24” jacket to promote his 2024 run for president, West immediately brought up the antisemitic controversy before pivoting to a nearly five-minute diatribe about Jesus.

At one point, he brought up Elon Musk, the new owner of Twitter, and shamed him for refusing to let infamous right-wing media personality Alex Jones back on the platform.

“Another issue I have is the fact that Elon won’t reinstate Alex Jones,” he said. “Alex Jones is a Christian. But you have a person who doesn’t believe that Christ is Lord going to buy an American media outlet, and picking and choosing who can be on the platform and who can’t be on the platform. Jesus is Lord.”

West also revealed Donda Academy, which was shuttered following his antisemitic remarks, was moving into a church, although he didn’t specify which one.

“The reason why I went to this church specifically is my friend, Mark—who I met at another church where we’re moving the Donda school; we’re moving it into a church—he said come to his Messianic Jew church that knows that Yeshua is Christ. That Jesus is Lord. And that’s why I came to this church, and that’s the part that I agree with. Jesus is Lord. Christ is the only way.”

Elsewhere during the conversation, West claimed none of his celebrity friends said anything as they watched Adidas, Gap, JP Morgan and other businesses cut ties with him, “proof” they are controlled.

“I’m know to be the most forgiving person,” he said. “I can’t hate anyone. We saw Adidas freeze my accounts. You saw me get de-banked. If that can happen to someone like me, what’s happening to all of America? What’s happening to all the world? There’s so many people that are working a regular job and they know if they say anything, they’ll lose their jobs […] They tried to destroy me in the press. West, who announced he was running for president again last week, then brought up Donald Trump. The two evidently had an awkward meeting at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago property in Florida over the weekend. According to Trump, he encouraged him not to run, calling it a “waste of time.”

“I’ve been a Trump supporter,” West noted. “I’ve went through the trenches wearing a red hat, literally going into exhaustion from people asking me these questions about the red hat. We’re holding to Christian, Christ principles first. America is a Christian country.”

Trump seemed bothered by the fact West showed up with white nationalist Nick Fuentes. West tweeted a video late Thursday (November 24) saying he had a “debrief” with Trump and had asked him to be his running mate. But West said Trump “basically started screaming at [him], telling [him] [he] was gonna lose.”

Well, Kanye West aka Ye has done it again. He’s created an intro to the Nick Fuentes show “America First.” First of all, let us talk about the notion of “America First” and what that means.

America First refers to a policy stance in the United States that generally emphasizes nationalism and non-interventionism. The term was coined by president Woodrow Wilson in his 1916 campaign that pledged to keep America neutral in World War I.

Secondly, some argue, it has much more sinister underpinning, which came to life after WW2.

Basically, it means stay out of other peoples’ business, even if it means genocide. Contrary to popular belief, anti-Semitism didn’t start with Black people, Kanye West or people of color. It started with DeWhytes. Back in the days, it wasn’t just the Germans that hated the Jews. It was people right here. And some of them, president’s included, felt we should not have involved ourselves in World War II. Imagine the genocide if it wasn’t for a global intervention!? About six million Jewish people died in the Holocaust. Incredible. By the way, according to United Nations, over 400 years,” more than 15 million men, women and children were the victims of the tragic transatlantic slave trade.” That is to say that America be on its BS too and that actually systemically continues today.

Stormzy Says COVID Lockdowns Helped His Mental Health

Stormzy felt a huge sense of relief during the 2020 lockdowns because he felt like he could finally take a break.

The “Shut Up” rapper felt like he could never take time off otherwise, his career would suffer, so when the COVID-19 pandemic struck in 2020 and forced him to cancel his tour, he felt relieved that he could rest without feeling guilty about it.

“I always had difficulty taking a break, going on holiday, taking a vacation, anything like that. I was a hungry MC, I always felt like I had s### to do,” he explained to GQ. “So when lockdown actually came, it was a big relief for me. Because usually if I take a break, I always feel like the world is still moving. But this time everyone stopped. The world stopped.”

For the first time in years, the grime star let himself chill out and played PlayStation with his brothers without feeling bad about it. To keep his mind sharp, he stayed off weed and took a break from social media.

“I just don’t think the best version of myself is scrolling on my phone,” he said of his social media detox. “It can’t be good for anyone’s mental health. I’ve got a lot of theories about how it distracts and manipulates, especially for someone like me. I have a lot of energy. I have a lot of traffic. And I felt like that for a long time. God didn’t design us to consume that much traffic, that much information. That much content. I don’t want it to seem like I’m on a high horse. I just don’t think it’s that healthy.”

Former NFL running back Larry Johnson was arrested early Friday at a Las Vegas Strip resort after an ex-girlfriend told police he choked her into unconsciousness and left her in her underwear in a hotel hallway.

Larry Alphonso Johnson Jr., 32, was being held on $15,000 bail at the Clark County jail pending an initial court appearance on a domestic violence-strangulation charge that could get him a minimum of two years in state prison if he is convicted.

This was not a one time thing. This was a reoccurring thing with ol boy Larry The Woman Beater.

Former Kansas City Chiefs running back Larry Johnson is in trouble with the law again. This time for domestic violence after his arrest on Friday night at the Bellagio Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas.

According to reports, Johnson ran into trouble after a fight with a former girlfriend that turned physical which led to charges of battery and domestic violence by strangulation. The woman had injuries to her face and bruising no her neck while Johnson suffered scratches to his face.

The two-time Pro Bowl running back for the Chiefs has now been arrested five times related to assaulting women. Johnson was being held in Clark Count jail on $15,000 bond with a hearing set for Saturday morning.

I wonder if he was all religious and Christ-like when he was beating up all those women? Anyway…Larry said a bunch of nothing, but Jay and Bey always get clicks and views, especially when it’s negative.

Kylie Jenner Is Ready To Be Naked And “In The Streets”

Cardi B Facing Legal Action For Racy Marge Simpson Halloween Costume

Cardi B is facing potential legal action over her racy Marge Simpson Halloween costume, which was inspired by fashion designer Thierry Mugle. According to ArtNet News, Italian Pop artist aleXsandro Palombo created the look in 2013 as part of his series, Marge Simpsons Style Icon. Subsequently, he’s hired attorney Claudio Volpi, who specializes in intellectual property law.

“Cardi B has illegitimately appropriated the work of aleXsandro Palombo for mere business purposes in defiance of the most elementary rules on copyright and Instagram policies,” Volpi said, “with the consequent serious risks, both of compensation and of discredit for her public image.

Palombo initially reached out through his publicist to Cardi B’s stylist Carter, photographer Jora Frantzis and Atlantic Records’ publicity team about the images. Frantzis was the only one who replied and claimed she’d not been “aware there was an artist behind this image previously” but would be “happy to add the credits.”

Palombo then requested everyone involved to publish a follow-up “remedial” post giving him proper credit and linking to his Instagram page to no avail.

Although no lawsuit has yet been filed, Volpi has sent a formal notice to Carter, Frantiz and Craig Kallman, the chairperson of Atlantic Records, requesting they publish the follow-up post within seven days of receipt as well as correct the previous post. If they fail to comply, he has threatened legal action and will seek compensation for Palombo.

Elon Musk Grants Amnesty To Banned Twitter Accounts; David Duke, Nazis Immediately Trend

Elon Musk announced that suspended Twitter accounts would be granted an “amnesty.”

The Twitter CEO granted an “amnesty” to accounts on the platform that had previously been suspended after a poll asking users to vote “Yes” or “No” to whether accounts that had not “broken the law or engaged in egregious spam” should be reinstated.

There were 3,162,112 votes cast during the 24-hour poll and 72% of voters said “Yes.”

Following the poll’s result, Elon tweeted, “The people have spoken. Amnesty begins next week. Vox Populi, Vox Dei,” referencing a Latin phrase meaning, “the voice of the people, the voice of God.”

After announcing the “amnesty,” a number of racy subjects started trending on the platform. A hashtag dedicated to former KKK leader David Duke went viral, as did a hashtag for the Nazis. 

The billionaire also responded to an Associated Press report which included concerns surrounding an increase in harassment, hate speech, and misinformation on Twitter due to the reinstated accounts.

“AP is such an expert in misinformation. Twitter couldn’t hope to compete!” Elon replied.

Musk’s announcement came just days after he reinstated Donald Trump’s account, as well as those of Canadian psychologist Jordan Peterson, Andrew Tate – whose extreme misogynistic views resulted in a Twitter ban in 2017 – and US rapper Ye, formerly Kanye West, who was sanctioned last month for posting antisemitic comments.

Ty Dolla Sign Provides Update Following Sudden Hospitalization

Ty Dolla Sign was hospitalized over the weekend after an apparent skateboarding accident. On Saturday (November 26), the Grammy Award-nominated singer shared an Instagram photo of himself laying in a hospital bed with tubes hooked up to his body. Although he failed to provide any context to the photo, he shared a more detailed explanation following his discharge.

“They just let me out,” he wrote on his Instagram Stories. “Had a skating accident and was knocked out for a few but I’m back. Praise God. Thanks to everyone that prayed for me and showed me love. I love you more.”

Ty Dolla Sign also thanked a select few for getting him to the emergency room and staying by his side as doctors figured out what was going on with him.

According to Ty’s Instagram posts, he’s been overseas on tour for the past few weeks. Over the summer, he teamed up with Taco Bell and Brisk Iced Tea for an endorsement deal as part of a Miami concert, one of his first big gigs since the pandemic started.

Future Name Change No Joke – Rapper Aiming For Billionaire Status With Real Estate Investments

Future has set his sights on becoming a billionaire.

In an interview with Billboard, the rapper – real name Nayvadius Cash – revealed that he is building an empire through his music ventures and real estate investments.

And while Future is now comfortable, he is always seeking new ways to build wealth.

“Sometimes I ask questions, if I meet a billionaire, like, ‘How’d you get to where you got?’ Or, ‘How’d you accomplish everything that you have?'” he explained. “I have those conversations with different people, successful people. But the way I get mine might be different. It just helps me to understand that I’m on the right path when I talk to people that have billions.”

In addition to putting more money in the bank, Future is also contemplating settling down.

The star has seven children from previous relationships but has never wed.

“When the time’s right, it’ll happen. It ain’t nothing that I’m really chasing. But I do dream of it, and I do want it,” the 39-year-old continued. “I want to make sure I just live that to the fullest. But I don’t really think about that s###, like having a wife and s###. But I want a wife. Everybody around me wants me to have a wife more than I want a wife.”

Charges Filed In Shanquella Robinson Case

According to authorities, the Mexican government has charged an unnamed U.S. woman with the murder of Shanquella Robinson. 

The alleged suspect is named Daejhanae Jackson and is most likely one of the friends on the trip to Baja California Sur, where she tragically died on Saturday, October 29.

According to KHOU 11, on Thursday, November 24, Mexican prosecutors pulled in their suspect and working American diplomats to get her extradited to Mexico so that she could face charges.

Robinson was kicking it with friends at a resort development in San Jose del Cabo when she was killed. 

Initially, people were told that the girl had food or alcohol poisoning. However, days after the death, a video of a fight between Robinson and one of the other guests she was traveling with was made public and raised suspicions about femicide.

The video has been reposted many times on social media sites. In it, a man with an American accent can be heard saying, “Can you at least fight back?” The man did not appear to intervene in the beating.

Local prosecutor Antonio López Rodríguez shared the case was being treated as a potential homicide and issued an arrest warrant for the suspect. 

State prosecutor Daniel de la Rosa Anaya did not reveal the suspect’s identity but said she was American. 

“This case is fully clarified, we even have a court order, and there is an arrest warrant issued for the crime of femicide to the detriment of the victim and against an alleged perpetrator, a friend of hers who is the direct aggressor,” Anaya said. “Actually, it wasn’t a quarrel, but instead a direct aggression. We are carrying out all the pertinent procedures such as the Interpol alert and the request for extradition to the United States of America. It’s about two Americans, the victim and the culprit.”

While there are different versions of why she died, none of the witnesses’ versions of what happened fit the autopsy results, which revealed Robinson suffered a severe spinal cord or neck injury.

Too Short’s “Freaky Tales” Inspires New Movie

A new documentary inspired by Too $hort’s 1987 single “Freaky Tales” is reportedly in the works. According to Deadline, the Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden-directed film took its name from the nine-minute song, which details Short Dog’s many sexual exploits. The all-star cast includes Pedro Pascal, Ben Mendelsohn and Jay Ellis.

Set in Short’s hometown of Oakland in 1987, Freaky Tales is a described as an “immersive” film inspired by Fleck’s experience growing up in the Bay Area, comprised of four interconnected stories each featuring distinct characters, real life locations and “noteworthy historical events.”

As reported by the SF Gate, crews began filming on November 14 for three days downtown near Telegraph Avenue and 18th Street, where they took over an abandoned shoe store. They’ve also filmed in a nearby warehouse and residence. The Oakland Film Office expects locals will see more of the Freaky Tales crew for the next few months.

“I suspect that there will be more to come,” James MacIlvaine of the Oakland Film Office said. “It seems like the entire film is being filmed here in Oakland, which is very exciting. Oakland’s vibrancy with these national large scale projects is very exciting. And very good for the local workers that are grips, electricians, sound camera operators, location team, and everything else that goes with a film shoot.”

I ain’t realize them strippers were as lonely as me. That just shows you never know what records will work themselves and in what corners.”
