Kanye West’s Cyber Bullying Has Sent Pete Davidson To Therapy

Sources are reporting that Kanye West’s bullying has sent Pete Davidson, the Staten Island funny man, to therapy.

According to People, Pete Davidson has been going to see a therapist since the beginning of April to sort out his feeling related to the cyber harassment at the hands of the rapper and former husband of his recent ex-girlfriend Kim Kardashian.

AllHipHop.com reported on Kanye West’s attacks on the “Saturday Night Live” alum. Ye even mocked Pete in his music and videos.

The source said, “The attention and negativity coming from Kanye and his antics is a trigger for [Pete], and he’s had to seek out help.”

Pete Davidson and Kim Kardashian announced their breakup over the last week. The comedian “has no regrets for dating Kim and wants it to be made very clear that she’s been nothing but supportive of him throughout their relationship,” according to the insider.

“Moving forward he just wants to focus on his career,” the person added.

Kanye West has not made a statement about the split or the comment about him being a reason for Davidson needing counseling.

But he did post a disturbing image on Instagram to his 16.2 million followers of a picture of a fake New York Times cover that featured the headline “Skete Davidson Dead At Age 28.”

“Skete” is the derogatory nickname Yeezy gave him during his 2021 rant.

Kim Kardashian was reportedly livid over the post and demanded Ye taking down the image, which has been deleted from his IG account.

Serena Williams Announces “Retirement” From Tennis, But Not Career

One of the worlds best, brightest and most powerful celebrity athletes is retiring.

Serena Williams is calling it a day. The tennis star and baby mama in my head, announced that she will end her life in from after the 2022 U.S. Open this month. She wrote an op ed piece for Vogue magazine making the revelation. At 40 years old, she just decided it is time to move on to other things. Obviously, the 23 time Grand Slam Champion has done just about everything there is to do in tennis. And she’s done more than just tennis, she’s an icon.

She told her therapist that it was time to retire, but did not talk to anyone else about it. By the way, she’s not using the word retirement. She’s using the word, transition “. And other words like evolution to describe what she’s doing next.

In the piece, she wrote: “I’ve been reluctant to admit to myself or anyone else that I have to move on from playing tennis. Alexis, my husband, and I have hardly talked about it; it’s like a taboo topic. I can’t even have this conversation with my mom and dad. It’s like it’s not real until you say it out loud. It comes up, I get an uncomfortable lump in my throat, and I start to cry. The only person I’ve really gone there with is my therapist!”

At any rate, she is one of the best and continues to amaze with her transitioning ways. “I’m here to tell you that I’m evolving away from tennis, toward other things that are important to me,” she continued.

Personally, I can’t wait to see what she’s up to next because she still fascinates. Also, her sister Venus is a phenom as well. Both of them are incredible, and shout out to king Richard, who helped make them this way.

Job well done, Serena! Let us Crip Walk!

J. Cole’s ‘2014 Forest Hills Drive’ Joins Billboard 200 Chart’s 400-Week Club

J. Cole’s 2014 Forest Hills Drive crosses another significant milestone. The Album Of The Year winner at the 2015 BET Hip Hop Awards spent its 400th week on the Billboard 200 chart.

The North Carolina-based emcee became just the fourth rapper to have an album remain on the Billboard 200 for at least 400 weeks. J. Cole joined Kendrick Lamar, Drake, and Eminem.

Kendrick Lamar’s Good Kid, M.A.A.D City is the longest-charting Hip Hop studio album of all time. The classic 2012 project has made it onto the Billboard 200 for 510 weeks.

Drake became the first act in history to have two different albums in the 400-week club. 2011’s Take Care currently sits at 492 weeks. 2013’s Nothing Was The Same has shown up 433 times on the Billboard 200.

Eminem’s The Eminem Show has charted for 418 weeks. His Curtain Call: The Hits compilation sits at 591 weeks. The Dark Side of the Moon by Pink Floyd holds the all-time Billboard 200 record with 962 weeks on the chart.

2014 Forest Hills Drive debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 with 371,000 first-week units. The RIAA certified J. Cole’s third studio album as 3x-Platinum in May 2019. He also earned a Best Rap Album nomination at the 58th Annual Grammy Awards in 2016.

J. Cole presently has six #1 albums in his discography. 2011’s Cole World: The Sideline Story, 2013’s Born Sinner, 2016’s 4 Your Eyez Only, 2018’s KOD, and 2021’s The Off-Season also topped the Billboard 200 chart.

The Dreamville Records leader’s first five albums have all earned at least Platinum certification from the RIAA. Born Sinner crossed the 2x-Platinum threshold in September 2020. The 2014 Forest Hills Drive tracks “Wet Dreamz” received a 4x-Platinum Award and “No Role Modelz” received a 6x-Platinum Award.

Slim Jxmmi Detained At LAX For Charges In Georgia

Aaquil Iben Shamon Brown is once again facing legal troubles. Authorities apparently detained the rapper better known as Slim Jxmmi at Los Angeles International Airport on his way back from Canada.

According to TMZ, United States Customs and Border Protection agents detained Slim Jxmmi on Sunday. Apparently, the Rae Sremmurd member has a warrant out for his arrest in Cobb County, Georgia.

Local officials have reportedly secured extradition for Slim Jxmmi back to the state. The Mississippi-raised artist’s legal team claims the Cobb County Probation Office failed to withdraw its probation violation warrant.

Steve Sadow, Jxmmi’s attorney, stated, “When Aaquil came back from Canada into LA airport, he was arrested on the probation violation warrant. We expect that warrant to be withdrawn in the next day or so, and then Aaquil will be released.”

Slim Jxmmi’s latest run-in with the law comes as Rae Sremmurd prepares to release the SREMM4LIFE album. The duo let loose “Denial” in June. They recently released the new single “Community D**k” featuring Alabama-bred rapper Flo Milli.

“One of our producers, 30 Roc, his friend got this voice note, this girl left a voice note… so she was singing that song,” Slim Jxmmi told Apple Music 1 host Zane Lowe. “She got real creative and sang it in that melody and he sampled it on the beat.”

The 30-year-old rhymer added, “And we were like, ‘This sound like the summer. It sounds like Hot Boys, City Girls’ – and Flo Milli got that tone. She speaks for the females in the best way, the most fun way. She’s gonna present it a certain way. So we were like, ‘We gotta send it to her and let her do her thang.’ We sent her the song, she killed it the first time.”

Earlier this year, Miami-Dade County prosecutors dropped a domestic violence case against Slim Jxmmi. The alleged victim supposedly recanted her allegations which included accusations of hair pulling.

Kandi & Tiny Drop Female Version Of DVSN’s “If I Get Caught”

R&B duo DVSN caused a stir online with the provocative “If I Get Caught.” Kandi Burruss and Tameka “Tiny” Harris have taken it upon themselves to offer a response to DVSN’s single.

Vocalist Daniel Daley and producer Nineteen85 sampled Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter’s “Song Cry” for their latest musical offering. In the chorus, Daley sings, “If I get caught cheating, that don’t mean I don’t lovе you.”

“If I Get Caught” became a major topic of conversation on social media as listeners debated the “cheater’s anthem.” However, Daniel Daley insisted the Bryan Michael-Cox and Jermaine Dupri-produced song is “honest,” not toxic.

Yesterday, Kandi Burruss and Tiny Harris presented their own version of DVSN’s “If I Get Caught” from a female perspective. An official music video from the former Xscape members landed on YouTube as well.

“Much love to @dvsn but @majorgirl & I had to represent for the ladies! #IFUGetCaught cheating on us it’s gonna be a problem!” wrote Kandi on Instagram.

Tiny posted on her own Instagram page, “We gotta show love to @dvsn for doing their thang with their new song ‘If I Got Caught.’ It’s such a dope song, it made @Kandi and I want to write a female version, just to talk a lil 💩for the ladies!”

This is not the first time a musical Battle Of The Sexes involved Kandi Burruss and Tiny Harris. Back in 1999, Sporty Thievz released “No Pigeons” as a rebuttal to TLC’s chart-topping “No Scrubs.” Kandi and Tiny co-wrote “No Scrubs” for their fellow 90s-era female group.

Beyoncé Scores 8th No. 1 Song With “Break My Soul”

R&B/Pop megastar Beyoncé currently has the #1 album and #1 song in America. After Renaissance debuted atop the Billboard 200 chart, “Break My Soul” rises to the pinnacle of the Billboard Hot 100 chart.

“Break My Soul” climbed from the Hot 100’s #6 position to the #1 position. The track became Beyoncé’s eighth chart-topper as a soloist. She also has four other Number Ones as a member of Destiny’s Child.

Since her run with Destiny’s Child, the time between Beyoncé’s first Number One and her latest Number One spans twenty-three years and three weeks. The girl group’s “Bills, Bills, Bills” made it to #1 on July 17, 1999.

All 16 tracks from Renaissance landed on the Hot 100 rankings. “Cuff It” and “Alien Superstar” also made it into the Top 20. Beyoncé joined Cardi B, Ariana Grande, Taylor Swift, Olivia Rodrigo, and Adele as the only female acts to have an album chart every track on the Hot 100.

Additionally, Beyoncé’s “Break My Soul” leads the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs, Hot R&B Songs, and Hot Dance/Electronic Songs charts. The Renaissance single pulled in 18.9 million streams during the tracking period.

“Break My Soul” gained more publicity after Beyoncé dropped “The Queens Remix” with Pop music icon Madonna. The remixed version featured Bey shouting out numerous Black, female musicians such as Nina Simone, Janet Jackson, Aaliyah, and Rihanna.

In addition, Beyoncé reached #1 on the Billboard Artist 100 chart for the first time this week. The Parkwood Entertainment founder is also only the third female artist in history to earn at least 80 entries on the Hot 100 chart. Bey is now on that exclusive list with Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj.

Megan Thee Stallion’s Boyfriend Pardison Fontaine Backtracks On Comments About The Rock

Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson had a lot of people in Hip Hop talking this week. While promoting his upcoming movie DC League of Super-Pets, the former pro wrestler mentioned Hip Hop star Megan Thee Stallion.

An interviewer asked The Rock what celebrity would he want to be a pet for. The 50-year-old actor answered, “Megan Thee Stallion.” When questioned why he chose the “WAP” rapper, The Rock replied, “We don’t have to talk about that.”

In addition, The Rock posted a clip from the interview with his Super-Pets co-star Kevin Hart on Instagram. Johnson wrote in the caption, “Shout to our fam @theestallion & Denzel Washington 😉👊🏾.”

Megan Thee Stallion’s boyfriend, Pardison Fontaine, got wind of what The Rock had to say about the woman he is dating. Pardison posted, “All our dogs [are] named after #s… Just teach ya wife how to use seasoning… You’ll be iight… Moana is the s### tho.”

Apparently, some people had a problem with Pardison Fontaine’s response to The Rock. It seems his “seasoning” comment was viewed as a reference to the fact that The Rock’s wife, Lauren Hashian, is Armenian-American.

Pardison returned to social media last night to share more of his thoughts about the situation involving Megan Thee Stallion. The “Backin’ It Up” hitmaker walked back some of his statements that he has since removed from the internet.

“Of all the things to be worried about y’all think I’m mad at the Rock 🪨 😂,” tweeted Pardi. He also added, “The comment started all our dogs #s and ended with Moana is my s### 🗿. I deleted it (yesterday)… [because] it seems like [people] took it wrong… thought maybe my joke was in poor taste 😂.”

Fat Joe Blasts Irv Gotti For Airing His & Ashanti’s Old Biz

You know you gotta be wack for Fat Joe to call you out. Fat Joe keeps it real, but generally assumes a diplomatic position. This is especially true with affairs of New York. The Don recently let Irv Gotti, the owner of Murder Inc, know how he feels regarding his loose lips on Ashanti. Here’s the back story. Ashanti is one of the dopest babes out NOW and her career is nearly 20 years deep. At the age of 40, she’s looking better than active chicks nowadays. At the beginning of her career, she was “with” Irv. I believe he was married at that time, but who cares. At this point, that was 20 years old. Fat Joe has known them both and has songs with her. He was there. A recent interview on Drink Champs yielded a lot of Chatty Patty-like behavior.

Fat Joe didn’t hold back.

“Irv Gotti [is] a sucker, man. He a sucker. Y’all can @ Irv Gotti, Ja, whatever the f### you want. Whatever Irv has with Ashanti is 20 years old, right. I know he was making some points that mean a lot to him. But when you keep ranting about somebody 20 years later, it felt like he’s not over the young lady, right.”

Irv Gotti Claims He Created ‘Happy’ After Getting Busy With Ashanti

He said he give Irv some slack if he put the gossip in a documentary, but not like this. Apparently, Irv was drunk and Joe was trying to ride for his lil sis without looking like a sucker himself.

“You gotta see your truth in your documentary. But to go to Drink Champs and to keep calling her a b####, keep disrespecting … Um, guys, I’m not gonna be the guy to ‘stand up for Ashanti, the brother that’ Ja Rule was standing right next to him (on Drink Champs). And so I’m not gonna be that guy. But, I’m not telling stories about a girl I was with 20 years ago. In fact, I hope you die (to his old flame). F### you, b####. Leave me alone, right. So, when you doing this, it looks like you caught up, you aint get over the s###.”

Ol Irv was dating Ashanti in the earliest of the 2000s…but he was married. OK. And he had the nerve to get in his feelings when she started dating Nelly without his knowledge. Nelly and Ashanti wasn’t a thing until 2003.

“I can get past you wanting to be with Nelly,” Irv blurted out to N.O.R.E. “The chic you f###### in love with is with this n####.”

Then he decided we all needed to know how he found out Nelly and Ashanti were an item.

“You wanna hear how I found out? I was at home … listen to this s###. This is God wanted me to find out. I was at home. NBA package, I like watching sports. ‘Oh my God, what’s this commotion going on in the stadium? We just found out what the commotion is. Nelly just walked in with Ashanti.'”

Nelly and Ashanti recently clowned Irv as they performed together.

By the way, Mic Geronimo let Irv have a piece of his mind too.

“Listen my man I’m gonna make it abundantly f###### clear to you bro. I don’t give a f### about what new found glory you have. I don’t give a f### about what you done, where you been, where you going, none of the above my n###a. Don’t get me f##### up,” the rap master said.

New LA Metro Station Named After Nipsey Hussle

The Los Angeles Metro Rail has officially opened a new Hyde Park K Line metro station named after slain rapper and Crenshaw native Nipsey Hussle.

According to CBS Los Angeles, the stop is located in Nipsey Hussle Square and is one of eight stops dotted along the route of what is said to be some of the oldest communities in Los Angeles and Inglewood.

Los Angeles Councilman Marqueece Harris-Dawson said, “From Slauson and all the way to Vernon, you will see world-class pieces of art, celebrating the history and the legacy of African American people.”

“Everybody who comes to L.A. and rides the train out of the airport is gonna see it. Is that alright?” he said.

This news comes a week after the Los Angeles Times reported about the activities in the alleyway near where Nipsey was murdered in 2019 outside of his Marathon Clothing store.

The actual space is west of Crenshaw Boulevard between West Slauson Avenue and West 58th Place.

Councilman Harris-Dawson wrote in August 2020 that the area has “become a hotspot for criminal activity” and worked to shut it down to “mitigate criminal activity and/or illegal dumping.”

“The city should take action to ensure that this site remains a safe place for residents and visitors alike,” the politician continued. “There is a need to e#### concrete barriers at the entrance of the alley on West Slauson Avenue and at the alley’s midpoint northerly of West 58th Place to close the alley, but preserve access to the residential and commercial properties adjacent to the alley.”

As AllHipHop.com reported, Eric Ronald Holder, the man who murdered the rapper, was convicted on Wednesday, July 6, of first-degree murder and five other charges.

Holder gunned the community’s cultural and economic stake-holder down because the chart-topper called his former friend a “snitch.”

Iggy Azalea Returns To Music, Tells Her Critics To “Cry About It”

Iggy Azalea is back.

The multi-platinum selling rapper said she was stepping away from music in 2021, but Iggy Azalea changed her tune on Monday (August 8). She announced her return in a Twitter post directed at her detractors.

“A year ago I was willing to walk away from music because I was tired of the negative energy it attracted,” she wrote. “But what I’ve learned is that even when I’m minding my business, y’all gonna be negative AND nosey. So if I can’t have peace, neither can you. I’m coming back. Cry about it.”

Iggy Azalea released her End of an Era album in August 2021. A month before it dropped, she claimed to be going on a hiatus from music.

End of an Era is so special to me because after I drop my album next month I am going to take a few years to focus on other creative projects and things I’m feeling passionate and inspired by, beyond music,” she wrote in July 2021. “I’m excited for you guys to see different sides to me in the future.”

But her time away from music didn’t last long.

“Gonna be a terrible year for you all,” Iggy Azalea wrote in response to someone mocking her return on Twitter. “2023 gear up b####!”

Kenan Thompson Teases LL Cool J Collaboration Now That Sitcom Is Over

Kenan Thompson is plotting his next move following the cancellation of his eponymous sitcom.

The Saturday Night Live cast member spoke about his career in an interview with AllHipHop at the Rock the Bells Festival. Kenan Thompson mentioned his connection to LL Cool J and a possible collaboration with the Hip Hop legend.

“LL’s my brother,” he said. “We been getting a lot closer in contact lately ‘cause I think he’s got a couple ideas for shows or something like that. Now that I have his camp contact – you never really wanna ask when you be seeing people in passing all the time. It’s always just like, ‘I see you. Love is love, blah blah blah.’ But now, I been contacting him or whatever. So, he brought us out [to Rock the Bells].”

The comedian also reflected on his NBC series Kenan. He confirmed the show won’t be revived on a streaming service such as Peacock, recalling that he was told, “It doesn’t make business sense.”

“Unfortunately, we’re on to the next idea and stuff like that,” he said. “But it was a good run. It’s a good two seasons. It’s out there forever.”

Nicki Minaj To Receive Video Vanguard Award At 2022 MTV VMAs

MTV announced Nicki Minaj as the next recipient of the Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award.

“Nicki has broken barriers for women in Hip Hop with her versatility and creative artistry,” Paramount executive Bruce Gillmer said in a press release. “She has shifted the music industry and cemented her status as a global superstar with her crossover appeal, genre-defying style and continuing to be unapologetically ‘Nicki’.”

Nicki Minaj’s appearance at the VMAs adds to an already busy month for the diamond-selling rapper. Her Queen Radio show makes its return on Thursday (August 11), moving from its original home of Apple Music to Amazon’s Amp app.

Fetty Wap Arrested For Threatening To Kill Someone On Facetime Call

Fetty Wap landed behind bars for allegedly violating the conditions of his pretrial release.

According to court documents obtained by AllHipHop, authorities claim Fetty Wap waved a gun around and threatened to kill someone during a FaceTime call in December 2021. A judge revoked the 31-year-old rapper’s bond on Monday (August 8).

Fetty Wap, whose real name is William Junior Maxwell II, was out on bond following his arrest on drug trafficking charges in October 2021. He found himself back in jail after the feds obtained a video recording of his FaceTime call, which allegedly contained evidence of his gun possession and threats.

“Specifically, on or about December 11, 2021, John Doe was on a FaceTime call with the defendant WILLIE JUNIOR MAXWELL II, also known as ‘Fetty Wap,’ also known as ‘Willie Junior Maxwell,’” an FBI agent said. “The government received a video recording of this FaceTime call. (A copy of the video recording of the FaceTime call is attached hereto as Exhibit 2). During this video, the defendant is shown holding a gun and pointing it towards John Doe. (Id.).”

The agent continued, “The defendant then says to John Doe ‘Imma kill you and everybody you with,’ which he then repeats one more time. (Id.). The defendant then continues to threaten John Doe, saying ‘I’m gonna kill you,’ a threat which he repeats several more times throughout the video call (Id.). Additionally, after John Doe called the defendant a rat, the defendant responded by saying, “Your man is a rat.” (Id.) Screenshots of the defendant displaying a firearm are below.”

Fetty Wap awaits trial for charges of conspiracy to distribute and possess controlled substances, including cocaine, fentanyl and heroin. Prosecutors accuse him of being a “kilogram-level redistributor” in a drug ring, which operated in Long Island and New Jersey.

Boosie, Yungeen Ace, And The Feds Join Hundreds At JayDaYoungan’s Funeral

On Sunday, August 7, over 300 people came to say farewell to 24-year-old rapper JayDaYoungan, during his Bogalusa, Louisiana, homegoing service.

The funeral was held at his alma mater, inside Bogalusa High School’s auditorium, celebrating his life, which was cut short through senseless violence.

His premature death ended his five-year rap career that afforded him 1.5 million monthly listeners on Spotify and 2.8 million followers on Instagram.

According to The Advocate, one famous attendee at the funeral was another “Boot” rapper, Boosie BadAZZ, who recorded music with JayDaYoungan.

Another rapper, Yungeen Ace, was allegedly harassed by the Feds while attending the service.

The Bogalusa police department said that on Wednesday, July 27, JayDaYoungan, whose real name is Javorious Scott, was home with his father, Kenyatta Scott, when the two were victims of an ambush shooting.

First responders tried to support JayDaYoungan before he was rushed to Our Lady of Angels emergency room for evaluation in a private vehicle.

While his father survived him, the rapper succumbed to injuries later that night.

His memorial service was filled with beautiful memories from friends, family, and community stakeholders.

Pastor Raynis Bridges, the officiating minister, spoke about how JayDaYoungan donated school supplies to local schools. During the family holidays, like Thanksgiving and Christmas, he gave people in need meal staples like turkeys and hams from local Walmart parking lots and recreation centers.

Kolya Collins, a family friend, said, “Kids loved him, everybody loved him. He’s the only one to really make it out of Bogalusa, and he gave back to the community,” she said. “He did his service; he did what he was supposed to do.”

The funeral was not void of the code he lived by. Family members allowed his diss song against NBA YoungBoy at the gathering.

Nicole Linton, the alleged driver that killed multiple people in Los Angeles, has been charged and held on $9 million bond. This ensures she’s going to be in jail for quite a long time and she has not even been hit with the murder case yet.

She has not been formally charged by the Los Angeles County district attorney, but she has been accused and taken into custody based on vehicular manslaughter. That was enough to keep her in jail. Mind you: This woman is a 37-year-old nurse that allegedly plowed her Mercedes-Benz into that Windsor Hills intersection. She was in court today, Monday.

As you know, she was allegedly driving drunk, over 100 mph, when she barreled into traffic, and an apparent attempt at taking her own life. The result was a five-vehicle collision resulting in six deaths. These deaths included a woman pregnant eight months, her one-year-old child, and her child’s father.

This woman wiped out a whole family! At the time of this writing, she was working with the cops in order to establish with her blood alcohol level was. We know this ain’t going her way. A friend of hers already revealed that she was drunk and reportedly fighting with her boyfriend when she barreled into a whole traffic jam. Her friend is going to be her undoing.

When this initially happened, it made social media go crazy, because of the brazen nature of the crash. It almost looked like a missile went into traffic. The security camera didn’t even really capture Linton’s dastardly act, she was going so fast. And then to see all of the chaos and calamity that she caused, it’s only another disgusting act reminding us that the end of the world has to be near.

Can you believe this woman tried to kill her self and ended up taking several other peoples lives and then live? Her life is going to truly be hell and that is what she deserves if all of this is on her.

Born and raised in Houston, Texas, the rising star creates from a vulnerable place, equipped with an innate knack for storytelling and punchlines. In describing himself, Marqus states he’s a “young, hungry artist from Houston, that’s looking to take the s### over. Take the music world over, just young and hungry.”

After parting ways in 2018, it was late 2020 when Marqus would sign to Def Jam, proving hard work and talent speak for themselves.

AllHipHop: Being from Houston, how does that play into your life or career?

Marqus Clae: We have a dope culture. We have original culture, it’s not like any other place. It plays in perfect. Because just me explaining and conveying my heart, coming from where I’m from, the way I do it, it’ll make people want to learn more about the city — if they already don’t know much about it. It plays a dope part within what I’m doing.

AllHipHop: Were you influenced by the chopped and screwed at all?

Marqus Clae: I grew up on it, for sure. But I was more influenced by Scarface, Devin The Dude, Z-Ro, those guys. But I definitely love our sound, fasho. Where I’m born and raised in.

AllHipHop: At what point did you realize that you could do it for a living?

Marqus Clae: Man, I always wanted to be a musician since I was 4 years old. But when I was 10, that’s when I really wanted to start taking it serious. That’s right before I went on a road with Lupe. When I did that whole thing, it was like okay, I want to do this s### for real now.

AllHipHop: Lupe Fiasco is a legend. How’d you guys meet?

Marqus Clae: Through my DJ. My DJ and producer was his DJ, so he called me in a favor. He said “man, I got this young kid from Houston. He dope, I want you to f### with him.” And Lupe came in as a big brother, gave me the game. That’s where I learned a lot of what I know and practice now within my music, from Lupe. That s### happened, it was word of mouth really. It was that easy.

AllHipHop: Because that’s a real spitter!

Marqus Clae: Absolutely! Nah fasho, definitely one of the greatest of all time. He’s one of my biggest inspirations as well, so I appreciate him for what he did for me fasho.

AllHipHop: What did you learn from going on the road with him?

Marqus Clae: Performance. I learned the importance of performance, stage presence, gratitude. Being grateful for opportunities, and just game. I learned a lot of game from staying focused, being humble and never taking nothing for granted.

AllHipHop: How’d you get your name?

Marqus Clae: My name was Young Marqus at first. My birth name is Marqus, so I switched it around to Marqus Clae. Clae as an acronym, it’s Creates Legacy All day, Every day. That’s basically what it means.

AllHipHop: What happened with No Limit? How did you end up there?

Marqus Clae: Actually, I met P in the airport. I was coming from LA, going back to Houston and I walked up on them. I was 16 at the time. I said “man, I’m a young n*gga from the city. Check my s### out.” I wasn’t even expecting to work with him, I just wanted him to know who I was. He heard my music and he f##### with it. He flew me out 2 weeks later, that’s how we got started with that. It was that easy. P a good dude, fasho.

AllHipHop: You just released “Baby Spanish,” what inspired that record?

Marqus Clae: Storytelling. One of the things that pulled me into hip-hop music was the stories, just how you could see what somebody is rapping within your own eyes by them just spitting it. You can see everything that they’re saying. That was the influence of that, because I wanted to make a dope story. Tell that story.

AllHipHop: You have your new album Mecca is coming in September. Why’d you call it Mecca?

Marqus Clae: I called it Mecca because it was basically hip-hop through my eyes, just how I see it. See the state of it being right now and how I want to change it. You can expect some dope music man. I’m trying to be that fourth head on the Mount Rushmore of this new s###, so definitely dope music.

AllHipHop: Who’s on the current Mount Rushmore?

Marqus Clae: You know, Kendrick, Cole, and Drake. I’m trying to be the fourth head on that m###########. I’m just sharpening my sword.

AllHipHop: Do you have any features on Mecca?

Marqus Clae: August08 right now, that’s it. [We tapped in] through my A&R. My A&R sent me a record, I f##### with his hook. I wanted to jump on the record too. That’s one of my favorites on there too, that’s some female s###.

AllHipHop: What is it you want them to get from your story?

Marqus Clae: To get inspired man, let them know anything is possible. Don’t give up. I don’t care what the critics and naysayers say, just keep pushing. Through all aspects of life, in every situation. Get inspired from this s###.

AllHipHop: 3 things you need in the studio at all times?

Marqus Clae: Water, water, water. [laughs] Pretty much. All I need in the studio is water man, fasho.

AllHipHop: There’s nothing else you need?

Marqus Clae: Nah, not really. As long as we got a water and a runner, to go to certain places I need. Other than that, that’s it. I’m a pretty easy working type of guy, I don’t need all that extra s###.

AllHipHop: How’d you end up signing to Def Jam?

Marqus Clae: Instagram. Senior Vice President, Tuo Clark, he’s the one who signed me. I was freestyling in my car and doing little drops, he seen it. He said “yo playboy, I’m interested.” I’m thinking this some bot s###, I’m like “who the f### is this? This can’t be the SVP of Def Jam.” He hit me and said “nah, this is all facts bruh. I’m interested in signing you.” So I sent him my number, we chopped it up for 30 minutes. He was in Houston 2 weeks later. We was talking about paperwork a month later, so it was that easy.

AllHipHop: That’s crazy.

Marqus Clae: Fasho, Tuo a good dude.

AllHipHop: How does it feel to be signed?

Marqus Clae: It’s exciting. It’s dope to be able to have a platform to showcase your skills and talent, so I’m super excited. I’m ready for the future. It’s only the beginning.

AllHipHop: What are those conversations with Jeezy?

Marqus Clae: Man! Jeezy was f###### with the music. He’s one of the people I grew up listening to as well. It meant a lot for him to pull up and just put his ear on the new s###. Just give me insight and motivation, telling me to keep going. That was dope, fasho. I f##### with that.

AllHipHop: What do you like to do when you’re not working?

Marqus Clae: Man, play the game. Hoop, spar, shadowbox and s###. Read. You know, regular s###.

AllHipHop: Did you get to lock in with Snoop Dogg too?

Marqus Clae: Yeah, I met Snoop last year. OG in this, super OG. That meant a lot to me. I grew up on his s### man, it’s a blessing to be able to meet these guys you look up to. And they know who you are, so that was dope.

AllHipHop: You gotta call in that Unc feature!

Marqus Clae: Nah fasho! Absolutely, it’s coming. It’s definitely in the plans fasho.

AllHipHop: What are you most excited for next?

Marqus Clae: Man, my project Mecca dropping soon. That’s all I’m focused on, we’re gearing up to drop it. I can’t wait for y’all to hear it. Ready for the world to hear that s###. The date we got now is September 9th, so that’s what we got locked in.

AllHipHop: Are you dropping any singles or visuals before then?

Marqus Clae: We got some s### cooking up for this month and next month. This joint is for promo purposes, it’s called “Festival.” I’m filming this freestyle called “Festival,” it’s a minute and 30 seconds. I’m putting that out just for the fans.

AllHipHop: What is something that fans may not know about you?

Marqus Clae: S###, I’m silly as hell. It’s a side of me I don’t really show, but I’m goofy as f###. [laughs]

AllHipHop: Any goals for yourself as an artist at this point in your career?

Marqus Clae: Absolutely, be better than I was yesterday. Try to not necessarily outdo my last project, but always try to stay on that same motivational path to be better than I was. Definitely platinum records, timeless albums, lead movie roles.., I see all that in the future, nut having a substantial career. Not just a short lived career, something that’s long-term.

AllHipHop: What would you say sets you apart from other spitters?

Marqus Clae: Man, I really really got something to say. And it’s versatile, I can switch it up and do all things. I got a bag. When I reach in that m###########, ain’t no telling what will come out.

AllHipHop: Anything else you want to let the people know?

Marqus Clae: Mecca coming soon. Tap in on all socials: @marqusclae on everything. Stay tuned for the Mecca
