J. Cole Earns Sixth No. 1 Album As ‘The Off-Season’ Breaks 2021 Streaming Record

There is a lot to rejoice about in the Dreamville camp. The record label’s leader, J. Cole, currently has the #1 album in America. The Off-Season debuted atop the Billboard 200 chart.

With 282,000 first-week units, The Off-Season pulled the largest sales total for any Hip Hop project in 2021. The studio LP was second overall only to Taylor Swift’s Fearless (Taylor’s Version) with 291,000 units in April.

In addition, J. Cole’s The Off-Season pulled in 325 million on-demand streams in its initial week of release. That total is now the new streaming benchmark for any album this year.

“Sending a thank you from Rwanda! #1 album, I appreciate the love, I heard the noise from out here. The Off-Season means keep pushing yourself, I will do the same. ❤️❤️,” tweeted J. Cole. The North Carolina native now has six #1 albums in his catalog.

Dreamville co-founder, Ibrahim Hamad, wrote on Twitter, “The Off-Season really like that!!! I ain’t gon lie I don’t think any Cole project got this type of reaction and love especially from the people [whose] opinion I really respect. Can’t wait to see this live if we can figure out this touring with all the COVID regulations.”

The Off-Season was executive produced by J. Cole, Ibrahim Hamad, and T-Minus. Guest features include 21 Savage, Morray, Bas, Lil Baby, and 6LACK. Several tracks from the project are predicted to open in the Top 10 of the next Hot 100 chart. “Interlude” already peaked at #8.

Cole World: The Sideline Story (2011), Born Sinner (2013), 2014 Forest Hills Drive (2014), 4 Your Eyez Only (2016), and KOD (2018) are J. Cole’s other Number Ones on the Billboard 200. All five of those albums have been certified Platinum or higher by the RIAA. Born Sinner is 2x-Platinum. 2014 Forest Hills Drive is 3x-Platinum.

Elsewhere on the latest Billboard 200, Nicki Minaj scored her third #2 project. The re-packaged 2009 mixtape Beam Me Up Scotty with three new tracks launched in second place with 80,000 units. 2015’s The Pinkprint and 2018’s Queen also peaked at #2. 2011’s Pink Friday and 2012’s Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded made it to the top of the tally.

Moneybagg Yo’s previous two-week champion A Gangsta’s Pain slipped from #1 to #3. DJ Khaled’s former chart-topper Khaled Khaled dropped from #4 to #8. Pop Smoke’s award-winning Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon continues to hold a Top 10 position after 46 weeks on the chart.

The Weeknd & Pop Smoke Win Big At The 2021 Billboard Music Awards

The Weeknd was expected to be the big victor of the night at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards, and the XO label head did not disappoint. The man born Abel Makkonen Tesfaye took home 10 trophies.

Last month, Billboard announced the finalists for this year’s ceremony. The Weeknd led the pack of nominees with 16 nods. He was followed by DaBaby with 11 nominations.

Last night, The Weeknd won Top Artist, Top Male Artist, Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Radio Songs Artist, Top R&B Artist, and Top R&B Male Artist. The Canadian vocalist’s After Hours won Top R&B Album. His “Blinding Lights” single won Top Hot 100 Song, Top Radio Song, and Top R&B Song.

The Weeknd’s multiple victories at the 2021 BBMAs were in stark contrast to being completely shut out at the 63rd Annual Grammy Awards in March. He did not get a single nomination by The Recording Academy which led to The Weeknd calling the Grammys “corrupt.”

Pop Smoke was posthumously awarded Top New Artist, Top Rap Artist, and Top Rap Male Artist as well as Top Billboard 200 Album and Top Rap Album for Shoot for the Stars, Aim for the Moon. Pop Smoke’s mother, Audrey Jackson, accepted the golden microphones on behalf of her late son.

BTS and Bad Bunny each earned four wins at the 2021 Billboard Music Awards. DaBaby and Roddy Ricch’s “ROCKSTAR” won Top Streaming Song and Top Rap Song. Megan Thee Stallion won Top Rap Female Artist.

Other winners included Drake for Top Streaming Songs Artist, Doja Cat for Top R&B Female Artist, and SAINt JHN for Top Dance/Electronic Song (“Roses Imanbek Remix”). Machine Gun Kelly won Top Rock Artist and Top Rock Album (Tickets to My Downfall). Kanye West won Top Gospel Artist and Top Gospel Song (“Wash Us In The Blood” featuring Travis Scott).

Trae Tha Truth was presented with the Billboard Music Awards Change Maker Award for his community-based activism and philanthropy. Drake was in Los Angeles, California’s Microsoft Theater to accept his BBMA for Artist Of The Decade. Plus, Pop performer P!nk received the ICON Award.

Drake Brings Out Son Adonis To Accept Artist Of The Decade Award At 2021 BBMAs

Aubrey Drake Graham was named the 2010s Artist Of The Decade at this year’s Billboard Music Awards. The Toronto-born rapper/singer was present at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles to accept the honor.

When Drake took the stage to receive his trophy, he was accompanied by his parents, OVO Sound comrades, and his son Adonis. He used his acceptance speech to shout out his fellow musicians and his 3-year-old child.

“I want to dedicate this award to my friends. I want to dedicate this award to my longtime collaborators. I want to dedicate this award to all my peers,” said Drake. “All of your decisions and the music you make really does have me tossing and turning at night trying to figure out what I should do next.”

Moments later, Adonis tried to walk away from his dad as he was speaking to the crowd. Drake picked him up and added, “And to you. I want to dedicate this award to you.”

The 34-year-old Lil Wayne protégé was also publicly praised yesterday by 4-time NBA champion LeBron James. The Los Angeles Lakers All-Star narrated a video package celebrating Drake’s Artist Of The Decade victory.

In the clip, LeBron James laid out many of Drake’s 2010-decade Billboard chart accolades and records, including nine #1 albums on the Billboard 200, six #1 singles on the Hot 100, 232 chart entries on the Hot 100, and 45 Top 10 entries on the Hot 100.

Apparently, Adonis is as much of a huge fan of LeBron James as the former NBA MVP is a huge fan of Drake. Earlier his month, Drake posted a video of Adonis being completely astonished by a YouTube video of James’s career highlights.

Drake holds the record for most all-time wins at the Billboard Music Awards with 27. He recently achieved another major accomplishment when his 2018 studio LP, Scorpion, became the entertainer’s sixth album to spend at least 150 weeks on the Billboard 200 chart.

Jay-Z’s Marijuana Business Gearing Up To Produce 900,000 Pounds Of Cannabis In Huge Deal

Jay-Z’s marijuana company continues to make big-time power moves in the legalized cannabis market.

Earlier this month, the company made $67 million worth of transactions, including a $50 million purchase in a company Mercer Park Brand Acquisition Corp., which is about to merge with another company called Glass House Group in a deal worth $567 million.

When that deal is done, Hov’s company will have ownership in California’s largest cannabis producer. The Parent Company also negotiated a 10-year deal with Glass House, which will produce almost half a million pounds of cannabis biomass.

The Parent Company and Glass House are also finishing up a $25 million retail partnership agreement over six years that enables The Parent Company’s suite of branded products, like Monogram, to be sold across all Glass House retail locations.

“These partnerships are a fantastic opportunity to secure long-term access to over 900,000 pounds of high-quality, low-cost, California-grown cannabis for use across our expanding portfolio of branded products,” said Steve Allan, Chief Executive Officer of The Parent Company. “Our focus over the last 100 days has been to continue to scale up our supply chain. Our strategic investment accomplishes two important components, gaining access to Glass House’s greenhouse-grown cannabis at attractive pricing and expanding the distribution of our products to their network of retail stores.”

The Parent Company is also snapping up pristine real estate from cannabis-based farmers.

The Parent Company purchased four acres of licensed high-quality outdoor cultivation from a consortium of experienced cannabis farms affiliated with a company called Mosaic.Ag.

The rap star/mogul’s company paid $17 million in a combination of cash and common shares of The Parent Company and advanced the farmers $6 million in cash.

Casanova’s Associate Asks For New Lawyer After Attempt To Turn Him Into An Informant

A gang member accused of shooting two people on behalf of rapper Casanova is begging for a new lawyer.

In January of 2021, Jarrett “Jayecee” Crisler was arrested for allegedly shooting two people in front of the King of Diamonds strip club in Miami, in October of 2020.

The shooting took place after a member of the Crips approached Casanova for flashing rival gang signs.

The Feds claim Jayecee shot two people in the stomach during the ensuing melee and they have some pretty strong evidence – his own text messages.

Crisler has been trying desperately to mount his defense, but he claims his lawyer Dominick Porko is not looking out for his best interest.

“I feel that Mr. Porco does not have my best interest in this case and instead of me being a step closer to going home to my family I feel he will push me to the other direction,” Jayecee said. “Since the beginning of my case Mr. Porco used to scare tactics to have me admit to charges that I have not committed without even asking me what if, anything happened.”

In fact, Crisler claims his lawyer has been attempting to get him to flip and testify against Cas and the United Gorilla Stone Nation. Crisler said Porco was taking advantage of his “ignorance of jail and laws to his advantage” to try to “scare” him into cooperating.

“He has visited me 3 times since I have been here in New York the first 2 visits was solely used to offer me the opportunity to cooperate with the attorneys of the United States, its not until our 3rd visit he ‘realized’ we had a trial worthy case and that was after 2 visits and 5 months in jail with a threat from my father to fire him.”

Crisler is hoping to get rid of Porco as his public defender, in favor of a lawyer who will be focused on his defense, instead of flipping him.

The shooting in Miami was used against Casanova and cited as a reason for a judge to deny the rapper’s $2.5 million bail proposal, claiming he was a flight risk and a danger to the community.

Casanova has been lodged in the Westchester County Jail since December 4th, 2020, after he surrendered to police.

The rap star was one of 18 members of the Gorilla Stone Nation who have been charged in a RICO case for drug dealing, shooting at rivals, and even murder.

Casanova is charged with racketeering conspiracy, conspiracy to knowingly and intentionally manufacture, distribute, or dispense, or possess with intent to manufacture, distribute or dispense a controlled substance.

He is also charged with and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime.

Casanova’s next hearing is due to take place on August 2.

Lil Nas X’s Man Parts Try To Make Surprise Appearance During SNL Performance

Lil Nas X almost let it all hang out during his performance on “SNL” last night (May 22).

The rap star was the musical guest on SNL. He decided to close out the show with his hit song “Montero (Call Me By Your Name),” when he had an embarrassing wardrobe malfunction.

Everything was going fine, as Lil Nas X was prancing, dancing, gyrating and grinding on with his male back up dancers. Just as money was raining down on the rapper, he climbed up a stripper pole and his tight pants ripped open, as dropped down to twerking.

The rapper knew something was up, so he immediately covered his man parts Michael Jackson style, and continued to his performance.

The rapper managed to keep his cool, as his six dancers grabbed at his waist and man parts, apparently oblivious to the faux pas.

Lil Nas X said his pants ripping capped off a hectic 24 hours, due to COVID.

“At first i was afraid to even perform. then we rehearsed for 2 weeks, then all of the dancers got removed because one had covid and new ones had to learn the routine in 24 hours, and then i ended up ripping my pants and couldn’t finish. everything happens for a reason tho lol,” Lil Nas X lamented.

LeBron James Gets A Pass After Partying With Drake

It’s good to be the king.

Lebron James knows this to be true as the NBA has bent its rules for the All-Star player after he violated the leagues’ COVID-19 Health and Safety Protocols.

The Los Angeles Laker attended a party that celebrated his Lobos 1707 tequila company where he was seen rocking out with Drake and Michael B. Jordan.

Originally, the NBA tried to block him from playing in the first round of the NBA playoffs. They have since changed their minds.

One reason they have been lenient is because those who attended the party had to provide proof that they have been vaccinated or received a negative COVID-19 test.

“It’s a violation of the agreed-upon protocols, and, as we have in other comparable instances around the league, it has been addressed with the team,” a source from the league told ESPN.

While supporters of the purple and gold are celebrating but not everyone is. Other players have not been shown the same level of mercy.

James’ teammate Dennis Schroder was sat down twice for breaking the league’s rule. Kevin Durant from the Nets was kicked out a game earlier in the year because he also violated the league’s rule.

For his part, James is still enjoying himself as the Lakers prepare to play the Suns in Phoenix on Sunday.

40 Cal And Family Continue Search For Missing Daughter Saniyya, Disputes D.A.’s Suicide Theory

Rapper 40 Cal and his family dispute claims that their missing daughter Saniyya Dennis died by suicide.

In fact, they say that they have evidence that proves otherwise. In an exclusive interview with the New York Amsterdam News, Mom Latisha Dennis is asking for the search to continue.

“Saniyya Dennis is still missing. Her family and loved ones want her found!” Latisha Dennis said.

After only a few days of searching, the Erie County District Attorney John Flynn released to the public that his team working on the case believed that the 19-year-old traveled to Niagara Falls to take her life.

He reported that the college student, according to sources close to her, had broken up with her boyfriend and had frantically called him 59 times.

On the 60th engagement, she texted him, stating that she was going to kill herself. Despite what investigators have suggested, John Flynn promised to not close the investigation until her body was found.

Her body was not found … but Almost two weeks after the D.A.’s press conference, the family has addressed what appears to be not only callous, but disrespectful behavior.

The AmNews reports that the statement says: “Upon careful review and consideration of the allegations presented by District Attorney Flynn regarding the issues surrounding the disappearance of Saniyya Dennis, we respectfully disagree with his presentation and were shocked by his assertion that he shared information with our family regarding her disappearance and his findings of suicide.”

The family has enlisted the support of the African American Juvenile Justice Project (AAJJP) to find justice for their daughter or find her wherever she may be.

The executive director of AAJJP, Sherri Jefferson said, “If in fact, she went to Niagara Falls, one of those cameras would have picked her up.”

“Are they suggesting that in an area that has 12 million tourists annually not one person saw her there?” Jefferson continued. “Not one person can attest that they saw her there? How is it with all of these entities there nobody had one piece of evidence to produce to this family to show this is where she is?”

Jefferson added context to the family’s grief stating: “What the family is going through is described in three words: shock, disbelief, and betrayal. Shocked they had to learn about allegations of suicide and death by way of social media and media representatives contacting them for a statement, disbelief that they would not have had the opportunity to be invited to participate in and confer with the prosecutor prior to him making a statement about alleged findings and betrayed by a justice system and the university system who were supposed to provide their child with protection and to ensure for the family that this search would be done with due diligence.”

The Erie County District Attorney’s Office maintains that they shared their discovery with the family on May 5 and believe that there “no evidence of any criminality” can be found regarding her disappearance.

Saniyya Dennis was last seen on April 24 around 11 p.m., leaving her SUNY Buffalo State College dorm. Her phone was last pinged at the nearby Niagara Falls State Park.

Steve Zilberman: The Man Responsible For Several Top Artist’s Virality

In a world where digital and social media are at an all-time high, it’s important to recognize the movers and shakers in the field. Insert Steve Zilberman, the viral marketing engineer and creative director you undoubtedly want on your team when it comes to having a presence online.

Born in the Ukraine but spending most of his life in Chicago, Zilberman is the genius behind the content from some of your favorite artists to date, including famed producer Benny Blanco, the third biggest TikToker in the world Bella Poarch, and pop artist Oliver Tree, the latter of whom he played a detrimental role in launching his career from the underground into the mainstream.

Steve describes himself as a “viral engineer,” a term he made up to encompass the multitude of tasks he takes on at any given moment. From artist relations to artist development, Steve’s expertise lies in creating content, whether it’s filming, editing, then marketing that content. He states, “I can’t call myself a creative director because a lot of the time, I’m co-creative directing or maybe I’m not the main creative director.”

Remember the height of Tyga’s “Macarena” challenge on TikTok (currently at over 836 million videos and counting)? Yup, that was Steve also. His undisclosed sauce or formula has resulted in launching online accounts from zero to millions of followers in just months, a phenomenon people spend years and years attempting to achieve.

AllHipHop: When you were coming up as a kid, did you think you’d be here now working with all these amazing artists?

Steve Zilberman: Absolutely not. Until I was 22, I didn’t do anything. I stayed home, smoked weed. [laughs] I really I fell into it on accident. Ironically, I started off in music on the rock side. For a big part of my career, I moved away from music and strictly did cinematography and documentaries. I got back into it, with this dude Oliver Tree.

AllHipHop: How did you link with Oliver Tree?

Steve Zilberman: I was working with Youtubers at the time, this dude Cherdleys and this guy Andrew Hales, he goes by LAHWF on Youtube. Oliver reached out to collaborate. I didn’t know at the time what he was trying to do is get a fanbase and get his image and name out there, he thought doing it with us would be the best. At that time, my first 6 videos with Cherdleys hit a million in 24 hours, so we’re pretty popular at the time.

AllHipHop: Were you anticipating that much of a response?

Steve Zilberman: No, not at all. It was crazy, I felt like Floyd Mayweather, alright we’re 6 for 6. When Oliver reached out, I didn’t even know he signed a major label deal. I had no idea he made music. He may have mentioned it in passing once, but it went from zero to a hundred because next thing I know, he poached me from Cherdleys and put me on salary. The craziest experience because I got to experience the music industry the way a new major label artist would, it was super cool. Not only that, but a project that works.

Steve Zilberman: Going from the beginnings where nobody took us seriously, then towards playing sold out shows. The thing I take away most is all the politics I learned from that, I still use to this day: dealing with A&Rs or dealing with labels.

AllHipHop: What do you bring to these projects? What’s your sauce or secret?

Steve Zilberman: The only secret I have is intuition. [laughs] That’s a tough question to answer because it’s so different artist to artist. How you release the assets, what the assets are, or even what gets posted at what time is most crucial.

AllHipHop: This is strategic?

Steve Zilberman: Exactly, all the stuff is very planned. Especially nowadays, the smallest little thing goes a long way.

AllHipHop: Talk about your background in cinematography, and filming documentaries.

I fell into it accidentally. My best friends in high school had a metal band, they’re called For All I Am. Everyone had a part in it. My best friend was the bassist, my other good friend was the singer, guitarist, and drummer. Another one of my close friends was the tour manager, then there’s me. I was really into gaming at that time, programs and building computers. I thought “oh yeah, I can download editing software and figure out how to use it,” which I did. It did work. I really got a camera, started learning how to edit, and hopped right on tour. Tour’s the best because every single day is a new scenario or a new situation, that was my school.

I toured with them 2 to 3 years straight, I learned how to use a camera and edit through the tour. When you get pushed into a situation, you have no choice but to learn. From there, started doing music videos for local rappers and artists. It’s interesting because the whole Chief Keef drama with 300K, this guy Lil JoJo put me on to drill music. I remember I got a message from him sending me a Chief Keef video that had 60K views. He’s freaking out like “bro check this out, 60K views! This thing’s going to be big.” He got me shooting with guys like Billionaire Black and P. Rico, they’re not huge huge artists but I’d do so many of those rap music videos.

I stopped doing it because it’s a little dangerous working in the Southside of Chicago. No one ever messed with me but there’s been a few instances where “okay, this might not be it.” I started exploring different avenues. Started on Craigslist, got random jobs for commercials. Eventually I started getting a lot better, my name started growing in Chicago. I peaked in Chicago when I did a DPed a documentary for McDonalds at McDonald’s headquarters. The director was Stephen Kesler, an Award-winning director. Mcdonald’s was doing a 24-country event where every country, they’d break a record. It was cool, but I reached a ceiling in Chicago. I was stagnant for year.

AllHipHop: That’s when you moved to Los Angeles, right?

Steve Zilberman: Yeah, that’s where my real journey started: competing in LA. The first thing I did when I moved to LA was make a Craigslist looking for videographers. I got hundreds of replies. I looked through hundreds of demo reels to see what my competition was, I formulated what I call “the ultimate demo reel” because I saw what I liked and didn’t like. With that demo reel, I got every job I applied for on in LA. One thing led to another, it kept growing. I got a content marketing job with the smart home company New Bright.

That’s the first time that I put cinematography and marketing together. I’d be working with the marketing team for what colors should I use, how long is this going to be, or what point of view am I shooting from? I learned a lot from marketing. Simultaneously, I was working with Youtubers like Cherdleys, Andrew Hales, this lesbian couple Bria and Crissy. I started realizing what I’m doing with these people is literally marketing. What Youtubers are, are marketers. When I jumped onto the Oliver project, we’re marketing a new artist by doing viral videos. Wow this is truly my calling. All these years, all the stuff I learned was for this.

AllHipHop: What’s the biggest thing you learned?

Steve Zilberman: How gullible people can be. [laughs] I learned to embrace mistakes. A lot of videos that went viral would be by mistake, or there’d be some mistake in it. For Oliver, one of the more viral videos was him getting a giant ice cream with his single “Alien Boy” playing. We posted that video as if we tricked the restaurant into thinking it was his birthday to get a free dessert, that video blew up and it keeps blowing up, I see it come up every now or then. That was a mistake. My mentor invited Oliver and I to this restaurant, we went there. His surprise was to play the song, then them bring dessert. I took out my phone, filmed it. Oliver and I were on the same wavelength at the time. He saw as soon as I took my phone out, “alright it’s time to play into the camera. It was not a planned video whatsoever.

AllHipHop: What advice do you have for Youtubers? The algorithm is impossible nowadays!

Steve Zilberman: Right now because of the oversaturation of content and shows, you have to do something wild that no one’s seen before. Say you’re upside down, something completely different. The most important thing is cosigns, cosigns are the most important thing, if you could get really big people on your show, you’re now getting their fanbase. Unfortunately there’s no secret besides keep going. It could take a year for something to take off, it could take 5 years or it could take a few months.

AllHipHop: What are you most excited for now?

Steve Zilberman: I’ve worked with Marshmello a couple times, he’s a cool guy. I do Benny Blanco, started his TikTok from scratch. It’s at 3 million followers. We have some of the craziest engagements, like 40 or 50 million views. We’re posting d#####. Here’s the thing: before we even started, we told TikTok what we’re doing. They said “yeah, this is okay to do.” Last week, they said “hate to say this, but you can’t do this anymore.” They took everything down, everything. So we’re starting from scratch. So funny, Benny was telling me everyday if he’s in public, people would come up to him saying “you’re the d#### guy!” Or “you’re the TikTok guy!”

AllHipHop: Was that your idea to use d#####?

Steve Zilberman: We thought “what’s the most ridiculous thing we could do?” We landed on d#####. It was great because any trend that came on TikTok, all we had to do was add a d####. It’d always do well. No one else was able to do what we’re doing because the reason videos were taken down on TikTok is because of reports. If you get enough reports, the video gets taken down. We were fortunate because when we’d get a bunch of reports and the video gets taken down, it’d come back. It was always so shocking for people like “oh my gosh, there’s a d#### on here?” It sucks but we’ll see. He’s such a funny and creative guy, I’m not too concerned.

AllHipHop: How did you meet? Do you still run his social?

Steve Zilberman: Oliver’s ex-manager is the one of the guys who brought me on to the Oliver project. Benny got him into the music industry, but they’ve never worked together before. Benny saw what we’re doing with TikTok, we helped introduce Tyga to TikTok. We created the “Macarena” challenge in Nashville. If you go back to the roots and follow the breadcrumbs, it started with Mason Ramsey, who’s an artist project I was working on at the time. We got that gig and formulated the “Macarena” challenge in Nashville, it worked so well that we flew to LA to teach Tyga how to use tiktok essentially.

This was at the peak of the pandemic so Tyga wouldn’t touch us, he’s using his shoulder. This was before masks. We brought Justmaiko over there, this TikToker Javier, and others. We brought them into the studio, Tyga was a little kid having the greatest time. He didn’t understand the platform at all, didn’t know how to use it. Next thing you know, he’s making all these videos. Dancing with these kids and having a blast.

Interesting fact: Tyga’s son King, who must be 8 or 10 years old, feeds him trends that he does at this point. Tyga’s a very very smart guy, especially when it comes to marketing, not only music. He really took TikTok and ran with it. Next to Jason Derulo, he’s one of the most successful artists to transition TikToks into music streams because his streams flew up. Right now, he’s a very very relevant artist.

AllHipHop: What’re you excited for this year?

Steve Zilberman: I’m meeting with G-Eazy after this. He’s a tougher project because his image is just so cool. We’ve been exploring how to showcase his funny side without going too TikTok. I’m excited for all the challenges this year!

Soulja Boy Confirms Verzuz Showdown With Bow Wow

You knew it was coming…Bow Wow and Soulja Boy will go head to head in a Verzuz competition to prove once and for all who had more pull over millennial girls (and boys … safe space … no judgment) in the 2000s.

Soulja Boy dropped the news on his Twitter on Saturday, May 22, around 9:30 AM.

“Soulja Boy vs Bow wow #verzuz it’s official”

https://twitter.com/alexandracarmel/status/1396170206477656066

And immediately, it was 2007 all over again.

The rapper, known for his antics and domestic abuse allegations as well as his most recently #1 hit “She Make It Clap,” popped out with his Billboard Hot 100 #1 single “Crank That,” redefining music distribution and promotion for a generation.

Bow Wow, who is a little bit older, was crowned Mr. 106 & Park (years before joining as the host) because his songs would be featured on their charts over and over again since he debuted in 2000 with his hit song “Bounce with Me” featuring Xscape.

While Bow Wow did not make the announcement, a few days ago he hinted to a throwback.

“Polishing off the iced out mickey mouse chain…. enough chatter”

Fans are losing their minds, even as some thought it would be a showdown between Bow Wow and Lil’ Romeo, both of who have starred on Growing Up Hip Hop on WeTV.

Soulja Boy has gotten some of this reality tv money too. He has started on both Love and Hip Hop: Hollywood and Marriage Boot Camp. To be fair, while Soulja Boy is in the news now for domestic violence, Bow Wow was in the news a few years ago for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend

Super producer DJ Khaled is jumping in the weed game with the hopes of developing products with the BLESSWELL brand that will use CBD in their men’s grooming products.

As the cannabis industry balloons, particularly in the dawn of the plant’s de-schedulization, more rappers are getting into the industry as business owners.

And we are sure … there may be some recreational use happening also.

The GRAMMY award-winner wants people to not only think about getting high when they are talking about the cannabis industry but “wellness” and personal upkeep.

This is why he teamed up with the Endexx Corporation, one of the nation’s leading CBD producers and manufacturers, to develop a “master barber approved, top shelf, everyday grooming collection.”

He took to social media to share with his fans.

“Put Your Game Face On! @Blesswellco is on sale now! Live Well. Love Well. BLESSWELL. Link in bio.”

The following are his debut products: Blue Charcoal Face Mask ($23), Conditioning Beard Oil ($26), Daily Moisturizer ($20), Facial Cleaning Scrub ($20), Lathering Body Wash ($15), and Ultimate Shave Cream ($19).

“Aside from love and family, health and wellness are our greatest blessings. That’s the key,” said DJ Khaled. “Reflecting on my quest to a better mind and body, I found my daily habits to have the most impact on my overall outlook of life. I created BLESSWELL to provide men with an at-home CBD grooming solution that allows them to put their game face on, build their confidence and get their mind in the right zone.”

As an added bonus, the entertainer has curated a three-part guided meditation series centered on his personal and corporate mantra “Live Well, Love Well, and BLESSWELL” that he will personally voice.

This series will be on all of the major streaming platforms and as a gift with a purchase from the BLESSWELL website.

The Legendary Music Icon joins forces with leading CBD producer and manufacturer, Endexx Corporation, to create a master barber-approved, top shelf, everyday grooming collection.

Cardi B Accused Of Stonewalling Lawsuit Filed By Beaten “Fan”

There is a code that Cardi lives by and no matter how much bread she gets, she is sticking to it.

Reports have recently surfaced claiming that the GRAMMY award-winner is not cooperating with authorities regarding a “fight” between her bodyguards and a fan who wanted her autograph.

The case has been lingering since 2018 when the fan (whose name is Giovanni Arnold) decided to sue the rapper and her husband because their security detail went ham on him after he asked for an autograph.

Arnold claims that the couple actually deliberately set him up. He alleged that 3 bodyguards attacked him so violently he had to be hospitalized with injuries to his face, neck, back, and body.

Finally, lawyers in the case have called Cardi to talk about the event. And she won’t.

Arnold now wants the courts to make her talk. Because she won’t talk or turn over essential documents, the case is dragging on.

Both Cardi and Offset believe that the fan is just trying to get paid and this is part of why neither is being cooperative.

His lawyer said Offset, “had no physical contact with Plaintiff and did not intend to put Plaintiff in fear of physical harm. Mr. Cephus also did not order or instruct anyone to attack Plaintiff or authorize any such attack. In fact, Mr. Cephus did not even witness the alleged attack.”

The story is developing.

Kylie Jenner And Travis Scott Are Not In An Open Relationship Contradicting Reports

In more Kardashian-Jenner news, people are claiming that the youngest daughter, Kylie, and her man Travis Scott are swingers.

However, the 23-year-old Billionaire took to social media to deny that the two are in an open relationship.

“i’m not discrediting anyone who is in an open relationship but it’s just careless and disrespectful to throw this narrative out there without knowing what’s true.”

“i just saw this but yes tmz too lol”

Both the beauty industry maven and her rapper/ rock star are the parents to their 3-year-old Stormi and have been dealing with all sorts of public speculation on the nature of their relationship since they started dating in 2017.

A close friend shared with Entertainment Tonight his perspective on this very grounded couple.

“Kylie and Travis are trying to make things work in a way that makes sense for them. Travis really respects Kylie and worships the ground she walks on. She means a lot to him. He loves that Kylie is such a boss and how great of a mom she is. Kylie loves that Travis is so creative and that he makes a big effort to be involved in Stormi’s life.”

It seems like that would be enough for fans.

Meanwhile, Kylie is chilling.

Explicit Mario Judah Video Divides Twitter Over Its Authenticity

22-year-old rapper and rock musician Mario Judah has been trending all Friday after some dropped a sex tape with him on it online. People (fans and voyeurs alike) went bonkers talking about the explicit video and searching for it on every site from Pornhub to XVIDEOS.

2020 seemed to be a good year for the Atlanta native after his song “Die Very Rough” went viral in September.

The world was introduced to an eye shadow-wearing and goth jewelry rocking artist that refused to be placed in a box, and as he delivered creative covers of songs like DaBaby’s and Roddy Ricch’s “Rockstar,” people started to give him props and notice that he was more than just a social media fluke.

The audacious redhead found himself at the top of everyone’s emerging talent list and will this summer appear in various music festivals. He is used to trending.

But not like this. The alleged video leaked supposedly shows him engaged in same gender-loving intercourse.

He is receiving penetration.

While some are talking about the actual video … “Just seen Mario Judah get his back
blown.”

“I dont think that was actually mario Judah”

Many are simply marveling at him trending. “Day 9 of tweeting the weirdest thing I caught trending: Mario Judah” Either way, Mario Judah has yet to respond.

HOLY SH#T: Kwame Brown Goes Bonkers On Charlamagne Tha God & DJ Envy!

YouTube, TikTok and social media is HOT RIGHT NOW! WHY?

Kwame Brown, NBA Vet, is actively posting on social media, and its like an active sniper on the loose! Basically, he was doing what he does. But, being a legend in the game of basketball, people have been talking about him being a “bust” as an NBA player. But, it spiraled out of control fast.

Here is what made him start on Charla!

Basically, Charla gave us unnecessary information on his family, namely his dad. On top of that, he said that the did not even know about that notion that his dad was a killer and other stuff with his brothers. He said he was only a kid when it happened and his mother didn’t inform him of what happened. And his “brothers” were kids that happened outside of his marriage to Kwame’s mom. Soooooo…what MAY have been a good gesture…step Kwame Brown OFF!

Charlamagne Tha God Becomes A Doctor

He went in…this is a long ass RANT, but lemme tell you its worth it! He takes on everybody in his new “vlog” called “Kwame Brown Bust Life.” He goes off on Stephen A. Smith, Matt Barnes, Charla and Envy, among others. The name is a play off of being and “NBA bust…”

Now…it is my understanding that Charlamagne’s legal team send dude a cease and desist order to stop him from going in so hard, but mostly to stop him from calling C a rapist.

“Rapist, Charlamagne Tha God. Rape case guy that actually pled guilty and got away with it,” he said! For the record, Charla didn’t get convicted of rape. He was found to be “contributing to the delinquency of a minor” and received three years of probation. The accuser maintained steadfastly that she was raped.

“You wanna talk about a brother that I never met? That my father had children outside of his marriage? Just like DJ Envy cheatin’ ass? So, I’m wrong because my father had a son at the time that I never met, so you go put out to the world like I’m some killer, when I asked these gentlemen and they said they was joking. So, now it’s time to light you little rapist ass up, too.”

So that caused a bit of an issue with defamation. He said he doing to find the girl. It won’t be hard to find her. He COOKS…but you gotta go to YouTube.

People Are Mad Over DJ Envy’s Ma’Khia Bryant Shooting Opinions!

Meet Lil Elt: The Genius Behind “Get The Gat”

“GET THE GAT GET THE GAT GET THE GAT!”

We’ve all heard the viral smash “Get The Gat,” quite possibly one of the hottest songs to grace the rap game. Lil Elt, the
New Orleans native who created the record back in 1992 at just 17-years-old.

Now three decades later the song has seen a huge resurgence, thanks to LSU taking home the trophy in the NCAA National Championship while celebrating the victory with “Get The Gat” and corresponding dances.

Immediately, the song became a phenomenon and sparked a worldwide social media challenge (particularly on TikTok), reeling in celebrities who partook in the dance challenge ranging from Snoop Dogg, Lil Wayne, Justin Combs, Marshmello, to Odell Beckham, and even Donald Trump.

Beyond the millions of videos created on TikTok, Jay-Z and Jay Electronica sampled the record on “Flux Capacitor” from the latter’s newest project A Written Testimony.

In fact, Roc Nation even reached out to Lil Elt’s team to get the sample cleared.

AllHipHop: What was it like creating “Get The Gat” in New Orleans?

Lil Elt: Back in the day when we were doing the thing, I was with the DJ crew doing parties, school dances, block parties, whatever. The DJ gets on the turntables, he’s going to take the club beat/instrumental, backtrack that. We grab the mic and tell them “shake that ass, throw it in the air, represent your ward!” That’s where that originated, we started screaming “get the gat!” and it took off through the neighborhoods. I made the song up. I was in the living room, me, MC Dart & DJ Tee put it together. They’re coming to the door every day like they’re coming to buy crack. That’s how hot it was.

I’m talking a 90-minute cassette tape with one song on it. Everybody paid $10 for it. Everybody who’s purchasing one, their tape was being stolen. They’d come back and get another one. The s### was so hot. I’m in the club with the DJ, not knowing he’s standing right next to me, selling my product to people walking up who wanted the song. When he’d play it, he got his cassette and put it on record. Making copies right there, selling them $10 a pop.

This was going on through different clubs in the city. I wasn’t there but I happened to walk up on one and it was going down. That made us make the move; we gotta put this song out. We went to the studio and I put it down, the rest is history. It took off when it hit the streets. For it to come back 2021 30 years later, it’s doing what I wanted it to do: go national. That’s what’s happening right now, it’s a big blessing now.

AllHipHop: Did you think it would go up the way it did?

Lil Elt: It’s been hot ever since, to the point where one time, Uncle Luke was looking into this song. Some people didn’t relay that to me, but a big promoter told me he was looking into “Get The Gat.” It was smooth back then. I’m blessed to have the new generation, even these guys are on it from the children on up. They’re loving this “Get The Gat” so it’s big things with it.

AllHipHop: Talk about selling vinyl in the 90’s, when the murder rate was highest in the country.

Lil Elt: Any vinyls we did sell were to the DJs. As far as cassettes, we ran through them. During the 90’s when everything was murder cap, certain school dances or block parties, they’ll let us know from jump do not play “Get The Gat.” I’m with the DJs and they can’t even play the song, that’s how turnt up it was. When they do play it, the song never finishes. They’ll start fighting, start jumping off. They loved that beat.

AllHipHop: How’s it feel to see people making videos all these decades later?

Lil Elt: Oh man, I’m still pinching myself. 30 years later, to have a song come back and do what it’s doing, blowing up like this? It’s doing what I wanted it to do in the 90’s. Donald Trump posted it. That’s where it did its thing with LSU, that’s where it mainly jumped off.

The influencer “SubTweet Shawn” went to the LSU locker room and danced with the players. That’s where I started watching the numbers turn and all I needed was LSU to win that championship. I said “if they win the championship, I can get ready.” I got ready and sure enough, this is where we’re at now.

AllHipHop: What was your reaction when they won?

Lil Elt: Man, I’m sitting on the edge of the bed like “Win this game!” If they win I win, and that’s what it was. I’m in LA for the first time, this is where “Get The Gat” brought me. Oh man, it’s beautiful.

AllHipHop: You were 17 when you recorded “Get The Gat,” how have you evolved as an artist and person?

Lil Elt: Now when the money starts coming in, I know what to do with it. I’m not a 17-year-old with that type of cash. I’m very smart, that’s the lovely thing about it. With it coming in after all of these years, my kids are witnessing what they always heard. Growing up, they heard about it. They’re in their 20’s now, they’re able to be in the video. They always heard about their daddy’s song… it wasn’t no lie, it was the truth.

AllHipHop: How do your kids feel?

Lil Elt: They’re still trippin’ off it. Just what the hood told them: “your daddy’s song, that ‘Get The Gat’!” Even at their school, I’m talking about teachers coming up to them once they see their names. They’re named after me, my name is Elton. My daughters are Eltonique and Eltonesha. My son is named after me, Elton III. Once the teachers asked who their father is and realized I sung “Get The Gat,” they got a story to tell them. They’re living the dream with me.

AllHipHop: 150 million videos made on TikTok alone, what’s gotten you most hyped?

Lil Elt: Seeing those superstars, the big rappers. Drake in New York in the club scratching “Get The Gat,” hyping it up. Lil Wayne mentioning it in his interview. He started singing it. He said “LSU won, shout out LSU. ‘Get The Gat’! ‘Get The Gat’!” Snoop DJing and doing the damn thing, he’s the first one I saw. When I started seeing celebrities like Marshmello… that s### went crazy.

AllHipHop: Talk about the remix coming.

Lil Elt: Actually, that’s on the hush. We not even running that up, I just want people to know it’s going to be something major.

AllHipHop: Is Lil Wayne involved?

Lil Elt: Wayne had already done a couple of songs on his own, even underground tapes where he’s done “Get The Gat.” Not really sounding like me, but mentioning “Get The Gat” in his songs. He tried to link up with us before he dropped his Funeral album to do a thing with “Get The Gat,” but the business part was too late in the game. They wanted to drop that within a week, so he went on with the other thing. I’m not letting them know who it is. I’ma pop out with it, let them feel the heat.

AllHipHop: What can we expect next?

Lil Elt: Right now, what I’m working on is the “Get The Gat” remix. Close this chapter with a remix, because it didn’t come 30 years later just to go viral and that’s it. This story has already been written, we’re going to put it down. Once that remix done, I’ma do my other thing. I’ma have more music. I’ve always done my music. I’ve done gangster rap where I done the gat, and things went the other way with that. I was always under the radar doing my music in the interim, that’s still gonna be that. I want to do this “Get The Gat” remix, put that out there, and give my people some other stuff.

AllHipHop: Jay-Z sampled your song in “Flux Capacitor,” how’d it feel to have Roc Nation email come through?

Lil Elt: Jay-Z spit “Get The Gat” on the hook, on Jay Electronica’s album. Roc Nation called us and touched base to clear the sample. Somebody sent me a message saying “if you got Jay-Z saying it, that’s it.” [laughs] “You’ve done it.” It’s a great feeling, to have it back like this.

AllHipHop: What’s the reality of the independent grind?

Lil Elt: Oh it’s work, and I don’t mind putting it in. This is what we come from. I was doing it at 17. I knew the main business part is the grind, everything else will fall in line. I’m ready to get it out here.

AllHipHop: Anything you are looking forward to?

Lil Elt: I’m looking forward to getting this remix done, and a brand new music video.
