PETA Takes Issue With Jack Harlow Glamorizing Horseracing In “Churchill Downs” Video

The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals organization has turned its attention to Louisville-bred rapper Jack Harlow. PETA issued a statement about Harlow’s new “Churchill Downs” music video featuring Drake.

Jack Harlow filmed the “Churchill Downs” visuals at the 2022 Kentucky Derby on May 7. The Generation Now recording artist also attended the event in his hometown to serve as the Rider Up announcer.

PETA calls on Harlow to donate proceeds from “Churchill Downs” to caring for horses no longer racing. According to the group, the horse racing industry kills 7,500 Thoroughbreds annually.

“Jack Harlow’s glamorized portrayal of horse racing is missing the whips, drugs, and deaths that run rampant in the industry,” says Kathy Guillermo, PETA Senior Vice President.

Kathy Guillermo continues, “Profiting from the abuse of others is never acceptable, and PETA is calling on Jack Harlow to pony up and pay for the care of American Thoroughbreds who would otherwise be shipped to foreign slaughterhouses.”

Jack Harlow dropped his sophomore studio LP, Come Home the Kids Miss You, in May of this year. That album debuted at #3 on the Billboard 200 chart. Harlow’s “First Class” single peaked at #1 on the Hot 100 chart. “Churchill Downs” lives on Come Home the Kids Miss You as well.

Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office Claims “Domestic Situation” Led To Trouble’s Death

Atlanta-bred rapper Mariel “Trouble” Orr lost his life on June 5. He was 35 years old. The Rockdale County sheriff’s office held a press conference to address Trouble’s death.

Rockdale County Sheriff’s public information officer Jedidia Canty spoke to the media on Sunday. Canty confirmed Trouble died at the Lake St. James Apartments in Conyers due to a single gunshot to the chest.

Atlanta area resident Jamichael Jones, 33, was named as the prime suspect in the shooting. Warrants are out for Jones’s arrest, but he is not in police custody, as of press time.

“Mr. Mariel Orr, which is the victim, was visiting a female friend at the [apartment] complex,” explained Officer Canty. “Mr. Jamichael Jones did know the female, and it was a domestic situation.”

Canty also stated that Trouble did not know Jamichael Jones and authorities do not believe it was a “love triangle” scenario. Jones is likely to face home invasion, aggravated assault, and felony murder charges.

Trouble’s record label, Def Jam, released a statement about the Thug Luv album creator’s passing. The company posted on Instagram, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the children, loved ones, and fans of Trouble. A true voice for his city and an inspiration to the community he proudly represented. RIP Skoob🙏🏾.”

3 Top Things Every Musician Must Do to Unwind & Reconnect, As Per Hitmaker David Spearman

Fame, fandom, and success give artists a high and motivate them to keep grinding. However, as per David Spearman, the grind can take a toll on a musician’s physical and emotional health. “Long schedules, extended jam sessions, and late-night studio rehearsals are what makes a day in the life of a musician. The grind is worth every minute spent; however, artists must take time to unwind and reconnect with their inner self to keep thriving,” states the Firebrand hitmaker. Here’s what you can do to keep your sanity and stay put amidst all the hustle the industry demands.

  1. Sleep

“Every other musician is sleep-deprived. However, sleep is essential for artists to stay creative and take their performance to the next level,” says David Spearman. Aim for at least six to eight hours of uninterrupted sleep. It gives your brain the time to recuperate and heal. It is best to switch off your digital gadgets and put a “Do Not Disturb” message outside your room. “Furthermore, know when to quit using digital devices and call it a day to recharge your batteries,” adds David Spearman.

   2. Take a Break

Set aside time every three to six months to take a break and indulge in pastimes unrelated to your musical career. It could be river rafting, mountain biking, or even visiting Disney Land with your little folks. “The key is to take a break mentally, physically, and emotionally to give yourself time to wind down and look at life from a different prism altogether,” says David Spearman.

   3. Fitness First

“Put fitness first,” quips David Spearman. A fit body is indispensable for a creative mind. The endorphins released during physical training reduce stress levels enormously and give you the much-needed pump every day. “Whether it is cardio, weight training, or a morning jog, all that matters is that you’re active and alive,” concludes David Spearman.

Cops Arrest Man On Suspicion Of Murdering U.K. Rapper Hypo During Queen’s Jubilee Party

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering rapper Lamar “Hypo” Jackson, who was fatally stabbed at a party in East London on Friday (Jun. 3).

Hypo was attacked while attending a street party celebrating the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee after a fight broke out. Cops say he was then stabbed in front of a “large number of people,” some of whom recorded the incident on their phones.

Police and ambulance services were called to the attack shortly after midnight on Friday when they discovered the 39-year-old rapper suffering from stab wounds. Hypo was pronounced dead at the scene, despite the best efforts of paramedics to revive him.

Cops Charge Man With Hypo’s Murder

Detectives investigating the murder confirmed they arrested 32-year-old Laurie John-Phillip the following day (Jun. 4) in connection with the attack on Hypo. He is charged with murder and possession of a bladed article and will appear in court on Monday, June 6.

Metropolitan Police Detective Chief Inspector Laurence Smith called for any potential witnesses to come forward. “This man was attacked at a party,” he said in a statement. “We know that a large number of people would have been in attendance.”

He continued, “I would urge anyone who is yet to speak with us to come forward and let us know what you saw. It is possible that events leading up to the stabbing, and perhaps the murder itself, was captured on people’s phones. Please take a look and call us. It is vital that we establish what happened.”

Hypo shared the moments leading up to the party on his Instagram Story and later posted footage from the event.

Tributes flooded in on social media after the tragic news was announced. The rapper has released popular songs over the years, and he dated the singer Emeli Sandé for about a year before splitting in 2017.

It can certainly be difficult for musicians to stand out from the crowd within the constantly growing global music industry, however, Bongani Gaone Sehunelo, better known as Kevin Gani, differs from most… thriving as a musician in the industry while pursuing academic and entrepreneurial excellence. The GiveBack

In a recent interview with the Grey Journal, Gani was asked about giving back to the community and why it’s important to him:

Grey Journal – “In what ways do you give back to the community? Why is it important for you?”

“I always try to help the upcoming producers in less fortunate positions, who actually reach out to me for advice or general guidance regarding starting off their music production careers. The reason this is so important to me is that that is something I would have loved to have when I started… it really took me a long time to connect the dots on the does and don’ts when starting out, general studio session etiquette, and so forth. It only takes a moment for me to share my personal experiences, which may just be what that young producer needs to hear and understand to really take their grind to the next level and actually thrive in the music industry.”

Seasoned Musician

From his youth, Kevin Gani was heavily inspired by the likes of Dr. Dre along with all the in-house Aftermath talent that emerged as a product of Dre. He was later influenced by the younger giants such as Boi 1da, Oz, Noah 40 Shebib, and most of the production talent that aided in the formulation of the OVO sound, artistically spearheaded by Drake. While the focus has been on his music, Gani has likewise established himself as a skilled producer, collaborating with a variety of artists from around the world, such as his recent collaborations on Bugzy Malone’s latest album which is now on the UK’s Official Charts Top 10. Gani understands the importance of learning from others and uses these collaborations to expand his skillset and develop relationships in the industry.

Eric Walsh: From Humble Beginnings to Becoming a Household Name in Music

Like many musicians, Eric Walsh comes from humble beginnings. No one handed him his success, he worked for it. As music is a passion and calling, he had significant motivation on his journey to becoming a household name. He didn’t choose this career path, it chose him, and Walsh realizes there was no other option than to make a living as a musician.

Eric has not lost his sense of self on this journey. If anything, music has helped keep him in check with himself. He hits the gym hard to stay healthy, makes time for friends, adores his German Shepherd Holly, and deeply appreciates his band Authority Zero. All in all, Eric is the same good guy he has always been but making it in the world he loves has made him a better person.

In fact, Walsh portrays himself as utterly human. He will not shy away from the times he has goofed (not his word) up or battled what he calls the “Thor of colds” in order to keep working on a new song. He insists on always making time for fitness but does not deprive himself of burritos and macadamia nut pancakes. If anything, he seems like a cool guy to hang out with.

While musicians can be regarded as conceited, Eric is anything but. He has genuine affection for his friends and family plus a great sense of humor! If you don’t believe us, check out his Instagram feed @ericwalshy. The Halloween pics alone are worth it, but the bunny ear sneakers are just as creative. Want to see the soft side of this rocker-the image of him holding an adorable koala is sure to touch even the hardest of hearts.

AishBeatz Lists 3 Daily Practices for Musicians To Bring Down Stress Levels & Thrive

Fame, fandom, and success give artists a high and motivate them to keep grinding. The grind is worth every minute spent; however, artists must take time to unwind and reconnect with their inner self to keep thriving,” states the Firebrand hitmaker. I Treat Music as My First Love Rather than My Career, Says Zephirah Blue

When she sits down to make music, Zephirah Blue says that it feels like coming home. Zephirah Blue notes that the high of music production is addictive. When a session nears, sweet tangled-up thoughts flood the mind. Penning them means having those thoughts flow through hands moving feverishly fast, trying to keep up with strings of entangled, abstract words, every one of which is waiting to be unentangled and bled onto paper.

To those other than musical prodigies, this process might seem baffling to the point of crazy or even scary. But to the artist, this is just how genius is born. Every lyric is another lightning bolt of an idea captured at the right moment and, like vibrant paint, splashed onto a canvas to create art that would be admired for decades to come. Marvelling at Zephirah Blue’s music, fans say that Zephirah Blue has a way of speaking directly to each one of them, making them feel seen and heard.

Music is cathartic to not Zephirah Blue’s fans but to all those that listen in. When the ‘Figment of Hope’ hitmaker sits down for a production session, it feels like one disappears into another realm entirely. Such is the power of good music, Zephirah Blue points out – it has the potential to transform you and take you places you had never seen. Music elicits strong, often repressed, emotions, Zephirah Blue says. To her, her art acts not just as impetus but also, and more importantly, as an outlet.

Treating music like a first love instead of a highly successful career allows Zephirah Blue to continue creating more hits.  Zephirah Blue says life feels so much sweeter, even at times when it’s hardly so. Even after all the fame and millions of fans, to Zephirah Blue, music is still the tender love she first met at a young age. And if that is what it takes to keep making more hits like the critically-acclaimed hit ‘Figment of Hope’, fans are ready to be put in second place on Zephirah Blue’s list of soulmates!

Benzino Blasts 50 Cent Over Online Antics “Is There An Insecurity Issue?”

Benzino has spoken about his online feud with 50 Cent and questioned the rappers’ online antics, suggesting he’s insecure.

The former co-owner of The Source spoke exclusively to AllHipHop about the beef and revealed his disappointment when his daughter became caught up in it.

Benzino claimed that while ‘people f### with Zino for whatever reason,” the same cannot be said about 50 Cent. He suggested Fiddy needs to reflect on how he conducts himself instead of “trying to embarrass somebody” or “make someone look bad. Is this what you want to do for the rest of your life?” Zino questioned.

He then reflected on the multimedia mogul’s online behavior asking, “Is there an insecurity issue?” Benzino said 50 Cent likes to “pick on people you know through the internet,” but added, “I’m not built like that.”

50 Cent Trolls Benzino Over Transgender Actress

50 Cent has trolled Benzino on multiple occasions, most recently suggesting he had a sexual relationship with transgender actress Shauna Brooks. Fiddy has been relentless in his pursuit of Teairra Marí, clowning her over their legal dispute.

This weekend it was Madonna’s risqué selfies that once again caught the eye of the G Unit boss. He took to Instagram to share a pic of the pop superstar posing for the camera.

“I hope she didn’t make her kids take this picture,” 50 Cent trolled in the caption. “LOL at 63 somebody tell her to chill out please.”

A furious Benzino blasted 50 Cent after the rapper turned TV producer offered Zino’s daughter Coi Leray a role in one of his productions. “You crossed a line with my kid,” he said at the time. He also added that his daughter’s obvious “disloyalty” will lead to “her downfall.”

When asked if he ruined his chances to get his show through Fiddy’s Green Light Gang, Benzino referred to 50 Cent’s offer to Coi Le Ray. He told AllHipHop his daughter’s response to 50 Cent was “disappointing,” and said he “was taught loyalty … no matter what.”

He added “I wouldn’t think that my own blood would even be capable of that.”

Kim Kardashian Says Pete Davidson Is Great Because He Takes Care Of Her Pimples

Kim Kardashian is impressed by her new boyfriend Pete Davidson, and his tender heart and considerate ways.

In episode eight of Hulu show “The Kardashians,” the reality TV star opened up about her new boyfriend, whom she met on the set of “Saturday Night Live” (“SNL”) last October.

Kim revealed that Pete is very caring, and even puts acne cream on her face when she is sleeping.

“I had this big pimple on my nose and I kept on complaining about this pimple,” the 41-year-old recounted. “One thing that we seriously have in common is we’re obsessed with skincare and dermatologists and, literally, beauty products. I fell asleep at 8:30, I was so tired. I woke up in the morning with dried pimple medicine on my nose. He put it on for me in my sleep because he knew. He knew that I really needed it to go away.”

Elsewhere in the episode, Kim revealed Machine Gun Kelly’s fiance Megan Fox was stunned to learn Kim Kardashian was dating Pete Davidson.

Megan Fox was amazed to find out Kim Kardashian was officially dating Pete Davidson. As part of a confessional, Kim revealed that Megan had texted her to confirm the news was true.

“(Megan told Pete), ‘Dude, you have a better shot of, like, me and (her fiancé) Machine Gun Kelly getting eaten by crocodiles than you ever getting her number. It’s never going to happen. Do not ask us.'”

As part of divorce proceedings from husband Kanye West, Kim was declared legally single in March.

Going from that industrial, subversive sound from Testing and then graduating with a more polished sound… I just like where it is.”

Denzel Washington called Baz Luhrmann to recommend Austin Butler for the lead role in “Elvis.”

The Oscar-winning actor worked with Butler on the 2018 Broadway production of Eugene O’Neill’s “The Iceman Cometh.”

In an interview for British GQ, Luhrmann revealed that Washington had been so impressed by Butler’s work ethic on the production that he decided to contact the filmmaker to ask him to consider getting the rising star to audition for the Elvis Presley biopic back in 2019.

“I get a phone call out of the blue from Denzel Washington, who I did not know,” the “Moulin Rouge!” director recalled. “Denzel Washington just said, in the most incredibly emotional and direct way, ‘Look, I’ve just been on stage with this young actor. I’m telling you, his work ethic is unlike anything I’ve ever seen. I’ve never seen anyone who devotes every single second of their lives to perfecting a role.'”

In response, Butler noted that he was thrilled to have the ongoing support of one of his acting heroes.

“I was so grateful for that,” the 30-year-old smiled. “He didn’t call me beforehand, he didn’t call me after. It was this generous thing that he just did.”

“Elvis,” also starring Tom Hanks, Luke Bracey, Gary Clark Jr., and Kodi Smit-McPhee, opens in cinemas on June 24th.

NXTFRIDAY Creates Music that Speaks to the Soul, Over Dark Trap Drums

For NXTFRIDAY, music is his life story, everything you hear in his music comes from something he has seen or been through. Growing up, music was his escape. The way he expressed himself while sharing his story, in hopes others could relate one day was brilliant.

When Friday was first starting out, during one of his performances, he was so nervous after smoking a blunt, that he got up there and killed it but then forgot some of his lyrics as he was too out of it. The lesson he learned from that was to always practice and come prepared. “Music is the energy we can hear,” he quotes. It’s all about the vibe and message you put out there.

Friday stands out alone from his unique auto-tuned voice to his brown boy-long-haired image, he has already amassed a large following online. Through his sound and influence, we have already seen a number of artists trying to adopt pieces from his style. He doesn’t try to portray a “certain image”, he simply doesn’t care and just wants to make music people can vibe to while doing what he loves.

He also recommends the best way to thrive and not “burn out”, was by taking your time. Like the great Nipsey Hustle one said, “this is a marathon, not a sprint,” set goals and take things day by day. You’ll eventually reach a milestone where you’ll see your progress and how far you’ve come.

None of us are able to achieve success without some help along the way. For him, if it wasn’t for his family’s support and his friends, he wouldn’t be here today. They pushed him to keep going when things got dark and he is forever grateful to have such genuine people that believe in him and share his vision.

He creates music that speaks to the soul, over dark trap drums you can still vibe with, touching on heartbreaks and losses you can hear the young Kanye influence in his sound. Friday quotes “If I can change at least one person’s life through my music then my job is completed.”
