Malu Trevejo Wants Out Of Her Contract With Travis Scott; Threatens To Expose Him

Travis Scott could be facing further legal woes after Cactus Jack signee Malu Trevejo threatened to expose him. 

The social media sensation-turned singer signed with Scott’s label Cactus Jack Records last month after making waves on social media, amassing millions of followers in the process. However, just a few short weeks later, 19-year-old Malu revealed she wanted out of her contract.

She took to Instagram addressing the situation in a series of posts after being accused of faking her deal with the label. While she shared receipts, including her contract, she said she was no longer working with Cactus Jack.

“I wouldn’t lie about getting signed to anybody. Things just changed and that’s ok Bc tha means something bigger is waiting for me,” she wrote. 

It appears as though things aren’t moving fast enough and Malu Trevejo wants out and now. She shared her thoughts via her Instagram Stories telling her followers: 

“@traviscott let me out of the contract,” she wrote. “Really don’t wanna expose the behind scenes sh*t so just let me out of it . !!!!!” Another slide read, “Like whyyyy trying to hold me when you denied everything let me gooooo!!!!!!!!! Nowwwwwwww.”

A short time later, the Malu Trevejo addressed her 10.7 million Instagram followers via IG Live, doubling down on her pleas.   

“That whole team is weird in so many ways,” the Cuban native said. “I just want to get out of it as I still haven’t been able to.”

Travis Scott is already the subject of several lawsuits in the wake of the Astroworld tragedy and will be keen to avoid further legal woes. The most recent suit filed on behalf of the victims is seeking $10 billion.  

Freddie Gibbs Reportedly Beat Up By Jim Jones: Akademiks Reacts

Jim Jones and Freddie Gibbs ran into each other in Miami last night (Dec. 14) resulting in a fight, according to reports.  

Vladtv say sources revealed that the pair and their respective crews got into it Monday night with Gibbs and his entourage coming out on the losing end. The clash began after they bumped into one another accidentally at the exclusive Miami eatery Prime 112.  

Jim Jones and his people were exiting the restaurant as Freddie Gibbs and his crew made their way inside. According to Vladtv, Jim initiated a conversation, addressing some of the negative comments Gibbs has sent his way in the past. One of Jim’s entourage is then said to have punched Freddie Gibbs in the face before the “Alfredo” rapper began throwing blows himself. Freddie’s bodyguard also took some kicks and punches to the face during the fracas.  

The two rappers have some history and traded words online in the past. Back in 2014, Gibbs called Jones a “wanna be Blood” gang member. Not long after that Gibbs was shot at while outside a Brooklyn record store, and just hours later, Jones was tweeting about the need to be careful in Brooklyn. 

DJ Akademiks has his own social media beef with Freddie Gibbs and immediately reacted to the reports. 

DJ Vlad tweeted a link to his report of the fight: “EXCLUSIVE: Freddie Gibbs and Crew Reportedly Beat Up by Jim Jones’ Crew at Prime 112” 

Ak retweeted the post just six minutes later, clowning Gibbs in the process. 

“WTF…. ME AND HIM WAS SUPPOSE TO HAVE A BOXING MATCH… HE ALREADY CAUGHT A CASE OF DA BEATS??? WTFFFFFFF” 

He continued, “Freddie Gibbs definitely tellin his police officer dad and District Attorney brother on Jim Jones.”

Foogiano Indicted For Weapon Possession In South Carolina

Gucci Mane’s artist Foogiano is facing more legal trouble.

According to the Greenville News, Foogiano has been indicted on two counts of illegal possession of a firearm by a felon. The charges stem from a deadly concert he headlined at a South Carolina club on July 5, 2020.

A total of 10 people were struck by gunfire at the event, resulting in two deaths. A man named Jarquez Kezavion Cooper was arrested a few days after the concert and charged with murder.

Others alleged to be responsible for the shooting haven’t been caught or publicly identified. Gucci Mane and Foogiano were named in a wrongful death lawsuit filed by the estate of Mykala Bell, who was one of the victims.

Authorities said Foogiano wasn’t involved in the gunfire, but he was discovered to illegally be in possession of a weapon that night. Greenville County Sheriff Hobart Lewis also suggested the shooters may have been part of the rapper’s entourage.

Foogiano, whose real name is Kwame Brown, is accused of knowingly possessing a Glock 40-caliber pistol and ammunition despite being a felon. He was indicted in a U.S. District Court in Greenville on Friday (December 10).

The indictment adds to Foogiano’s legal woes as he’s already behind bars for a probation violation. Earlier this year, a judge sentenced him to five years in prison after he pleaded guilty to cutting off his ankle monitor and fleeing the state while out on bond.

Hip-Hop saves lives.

That’s not just a catchy saying but a true fact according to a study by the British Medical Journal.

According to their research, Logic’s GRAMMY nominated song “1-800-273-8255” has directed thousands of calls to the US National Suicide Prevention Lifeline and contributed to a reduction of deaths by suicide.

BMJ further suggests that there are some groups of people harder to reach through traditional means, and the song was a great tool to suggest that people call for help.

The title of the song is actually the hotline number for the prevention service.

One part of the survey was having researchers led by Thomas Niederkrotenthaler at the Medical University of Vienna collect data on what were the motivations for people calling the hotline and if the song had any connection.

By looking at Twitter posts around the time of the song release, the MTV Video Music Awards 2017, and Grammy Awards 2018, they gauged impact.

For 34 days, they measured the posts and hits and noticed that there was an extra 9,915 calls to the hotline, totaling a 6.9% increase. They also observed a slight dip in suicides.

The study was not scientific but did have an interesting assessment.

Those who reviewed the findings noted, “the potential population health benefits of working creatively and innovatively with other sectors, such as the music and entertainment industries, to promote new impactful stories of help-seeking that resonate with broad audiences, leave a visible footprint on social media, and are safe in terms of not featuring potentially lethal actions but rather coping and mastery of crisis.”

Republic Records artist 9lokkNine is asking a judge for a lighter sentence as he prepares to go to prison.

The Florida native could spend up to 97 months behind bars for Paycheck Protection Program fraud and weapon possession. He pleaded guilty to aggravated identity theft, possession of an unregistered firearm and possession of a firearm and ammunition by a felon in July.

9lokkNine, whose real name is Jacquavius Dennard Smith, is seeking a prison sentence of 60 months or less. In a motion filed ahead of sentencing, he begged for leniency and described the danger he’s faced in his hometown of Orlando.

“By the time I signed [with my record label] I was 18 with 2 million dollars,” he wrote. “My mother was staying on Silver Star still [and] like 3 months after I signed my mother house had got shot up. It’s like when I started getting notice[d] I start receiving hatred… I been shot at numerous of times even at Millenia Mall in broad daylight. A detective stop[ped] by my mother’s house [and] told her to call me because I was in Miami [and] told both of us I have a large amount of money on my head [contract].”

He continued, “That’s why we are here today because I knowingly broke the law even though it was for my protection. Because I would rather face my consequences rather than my family facing me in a casket. I know if I was able to walk [away] from this today I would get security and move far away. You[r] honor I would like you to judge me as Jacquavius Smith and not my stage name ‘9lokkNine.’”

9lokkNine says he will be relocating from Orlando whenever he gets out of prison. In a letter to the judge, his girlfriend’s mother Tonya Hill detailed how he and his family have feared for their lives.

“Even while being incarcerated, Jacquavius is [filled] with sadness and much regret because of the incidents that have occurred, his cars being shot up, his cousin’s house being shot up, people shooting at him outside the mall,” Hill wrote. “I witnessed Jacquavius living in fear of his life and our lives because Jacquavius lives with me, my daughter Rodriyana and I also have a 16-year-old son named KB, and my 2-year-old granddaughter, his child J.S.”

Hill added, “This is why we moved from the west side far out to the east side because everyone knew where we lived and we felt like it wasn’t safe anymore at the previous address.”

9lokkNine is also facing attempted murder and racketeering charges. Both cases are still pending.

Jack Harlow Comes To The Aid Of Kentucky Tornado Victims With KFC

After tornados ripped through Kentucky and killed 74 people, rapper Jack Harlow stepped up to provide some relief to those devastated by the storm.

The Louisville native has partnered with KFC and the chicken company’s parent brand Yum to make a quarter million donation to help people in need.

According to WHAS 11, he and the food company donated $250,000 to the American Red Cross, an organization that is working with boots on the ground in the communities touched by the twister.

Community service is not all that KFC and Harlow are doing together.

He is going to have his own sandwich, complete with his picture on the packaging (limited to certain KFC Food Trucks).

The “Industry Baby” rapper tweeted, “Growing up, I always dreamed of being that guy who would put Kentucky on the map in the music scene. But to team up with an iconic national staple like KFC, the biggest brand to come out of Kentucky, is truly an honor. I’m looking forward to all the amazing things we’re about to do together.”

Terrence Howard has broken his silence about his former “Empire” co-star Jussie Smollett being convicted of staging a hate crime.

The actor was found guilty on five felony counts of disorderly conduct last week for making false police reports after he staged a fake attack against himself in Chicago in January 2019.

In an interview on Mark Vargas’ “Mark My Words” radio show, his co-star confessed that his feelings about the verdict are complicated as Smollett played his son on the show for six years.

“It’s interesting, it’s an uncomfortable question because anyone that’s aware of the show or my relationship with Jussie would know that Jussie is, for six years, he was my son,” he explained. “He was my son that I had the most difficulty with on that show as far as the character world goes. So you end up getting very close to individuals that you have the most struggle with. Whose characters you have the most struggle with.”

The Academy Award nominee reiterated that he and his family “love” the actor but ultimately respect the jury’s decision in the trial.

“They judged him and found him guilty, 12 of them that judged from a completely unbiased position… you have to respect that,” he continued.

Howard concluded by noting the potential “ugly” outcomes of the situation, saying the 39-year-old’s hoax had the potential to “set the world on fire.”

“If they had gotten away with it, whoever orchestrated it. Whatever was set up. If they got away with it, then we would have the potential of Blacks feeling like they need to defend Black people against MAGA (Make America Great Again), and it could have turned into something very, very scary and very ugly” he said. “People would have gotten hurt and killed, and if that was the case, the blood on someone’s hands would have been massive.”

Rick Ross made an offer to Lloyd Banks in a new interview with GQ.

The Maybach Music Group founder stoked the flames of his longstanding feud with 50 Cent while speaking to the fashion magazine. Rick Ross’ taunting included an attempt to get G-Unit rapper Lloyd Banks on his side in the beef.

“You know it’s rough out there,” he said. “Sometimes you just got to be honest. Tell Lloyd that I’ll let him come to the promised land, and I’ll have a conversation with him. I don’t have no problem with Lloyd Banks.”

Rick Ross also threw some jabs at 50 Cent’s television empire. He mocked the idea of getting into acting while claiming to know how much his rival got paid for a Starz series.

“There ain’t enough money in acting,” Rozay declared. “That’s what I was just saying. Your man made $250k for the season doing that. That little season, Starz TV s###. What channel is it really?”

Ruff Ryders, the entertainment company responsible for The Lox, DMX, and Eve, has been ordered to kick out some serious loot after losing a lawsuit that lasted for four years.

A judge has awarded one of the producers who made the company rich a seven-figure judgment, sending a powerful message to the music industry.

The Supreme Court of New York has blessed producer DJ Shok with $3.2 million in damages and interest.

He alleged that he never received any royalties for songs that he worked on during his time as an in-house producer. He worked with Ruff Ryders for decades and produced dozens of songs for artists on their roster.

Cassandra Spangler, Esq., DJ Shok’s entertainment lawyer, said, “We are very happy to achieve this victory on behalf of DJ Shok. We hope that this will help to change the longstanding practice of underpaying producers and artists in the music industry.”

Her co-counsel, Thomas Vandenabeele, agreed that this lawsuit should put industry executives on notice.

He said, “Mr. Gomez had the courage to speak out, and we are very pleased that the Court awarded punitive damages. We believe that this may send a strong message across the industry.”

The artist also believes that he is standing up for other creatives who have been done wrong by winning this case.

“My hope is that the precedent set in this case will inspire others to fight for what is rightfully owed to them,” said DJ Shok. “Maybe this will be a catalyst to change the current industry practices by serving as a warning to those who withhold payments due to artists and producers.”

Life is precious. Life is fleeting. Often, split decisions lead to dire ramifications. Yesterday afternoon(Dec. 13), OBlock member, ARoy was fatally shot within the Parkway Gardens complex.

Often, impoverished mindsets woefully trap complacent individuals. As with Chicago’s OBlock neighborhood, a seemingly fair fight ends in untimely loss of life. First off, ARoy physically triumphs over his opponent.

However, the young man did not realize his life was in jeopardy. A Facebook Live video purports the ending of the fight. A shirtless ARoy walks away from his mortal adversary. This proves fatal.

As opposed to accepting defeat, the unknown assailant makes a deadly decision. From his waistband a gun is pulled. Next, several shots ring out. Sadly, ARoy sustains multiple gunshots.

Tory Lanez Allegedly Shouted “Dance, B####!” Before Shooting Megan Thee Stallion

A Los Angeles Police Department detective says Tory Lanez yelled, “Dance, b####!” before shooting Megan Thee Stallion in July 2020.

LAPD Det. Ryan Stogner revealed what Tory Lanez allegedly shouted at a preliminary hearing in the embattled rapper’s felony assault case. According to the detective’s testimony, the 29-year-old artist also tried to buy Megan Thee Stallion’s silence.

“Megan stated the defendant apologized for [shooting her] and offered her money and begged her to please not say anything and made a reference to the fact he was already on probation and he begged her not to say anything,” Stogner testified.

Tory Lanez, whose real name is Daystar Peterson, is facing two felony charges for allegedly shooting Megan Thee Stallion.

Last year, he was formally charged with one count of assault with a semiautomatic firearm in a manner that “personally inflicted great bodily injury” and one count of carrying a concealed, loaded and unregistered firearm in a vehicle.

Tory Lanez pleaded not guilty to both charges. He was released on $190,000 bail, which was later increased to $250,000 after he violated a protective order to stay away from Megan Thee Stallion.

Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Keith Borjon upheld the assault and weapon possession charges against Tory Lanez at Tuesday’s preliminary hearing. The One Umbrella Records founder will return to court for arraignment on January 13, 2022.

Kim Kardashian has addressed long-standing accusations of “blackfishing.”

During an interview for i-D Magazine with playwright Jeremy O. Harris, the 41-year-old was asked about accusations of “blackfishing,” a term used for when white people try to appear Black, and cultural appropriation, referring to times where she has worn her hair in cornrows or braids.

James Brown’s Estate Sold For Breathtaking Amount Of Money

James Brown’s music assets have been sold for $90 million.

On Monday, executives at Primary Wave, a publishing and management company, announced that they had purchased assets from the late singer’s estate.

Though the company bosses did not comment on specifics surrounding the massive deal, a source speaking to Rolling Stone alleged they bought “the entirety of Brown’s publishing, master income stream, and name and likeness rights” that were previously held by the estate.

The news comes after over a decade of disputes over the Godfather of Soul’s fortune following his death in 2006 at age 73 from congestive heart failure.

Brown indicated in his will that he wanted to create scholarship programs for disadvantaged youth in Georgia and South Carolina.

However, his heirs, who inherited his possessions, costumes, and $2 million for his grandchildren’s education, delayed establishing the fund.

A web of lawsuits remains despite the acquisition, including one from Adele Pope, who previously served as executor of the “I Got You” hitmaker’s will.

According to a report from The New York Times, the fund will be delayed until that matter, among others, is settled.

Yesterday (Dec. 13), 50 Cent decides to share some exciting news. He is joining forces with Snoop Dogg. The celebrated icons will deliver the story of Snoop’s ’93 arrest. The subsequent, “Murder Was The Case” trial is “being developed as a series,” for Starz, this according to Deadline.

To further add context, Snoop eagerly shares, “I am excited to finally tell the story of Murder was the Case. This was a pivotal moment in my life and career and I’ve deliberately waited until I found the right partner to bring this to the screen. You are now about to witness the strength of street knowledge.”

Thus far, the project’s working title is, “A Moment in Time: Murder was the Case.” Starz’ Hip-Hop Anthology gives the project a sturdy greenlight. Hip-Hip celebrates the efforts of both Snoop Dogg and 50 Cent. The Queens native then quips, “This is going to be Bigger than OJ.” A pair of unflinching emoji eyes employ credence to his IG comment, ” I mean @snoopdogg Bigger Than Tropicana.”

Of course, Fif’ could not wait to solidify his stance. “I believe this will break all viewership records at STARZ…” he proudly proclaims. Both Snoop Dogg and 50 Cent earn acclaim for the respective cultural contributions. Together, these two icons must deliver a tantalizing tale.

Bobby Shmurda lives life on center stage. The Brooklyn native’s rites-of-passage, both right and wrong, continue to shape his life’s outlook. Recently (on Dec.11), an introspective Shmurda took to Twitter. There the “Computers” MC credits twenty bucks and one hour of “focus,” for changing his life’s trajectory.

It is certain that acknowledging opportunity is a coveted skill. Bobby does just that. Above all, the motivational MC speaks to how investing $20 into himself would interrupt his life’s path. Divine intervention is real.

To help clarify his mindset, the reflective rapper shares, “Too many people got a DREAM that they never chased, then go through life and be angry they never tried.” The red, irate, expletive-spewing emoji emphasizes his stance.

Next, he strengthens his sentiment by adding, “let me remind y’all Hot N#### took 20$ for 1 hour of studio time in the hood to create.” Bobby Shmurda breaks down the key components of his Hip-Hop start. More than courage, it takes sheer audacity to trade a tangible reality for a desired dream. Bobby is bold.

Most importantly, he quips, “and that 1 hour of FOCUS changed my life and everyone around me FORVER #shmurda.” As with most things, it’s easier to give advice than it is to employ it. However, Bobby is working as a vessel. He speaks to those contemplating embracing their true purpose.

Be assured that any worthwhile pursuit is not without peril. Life is going to happen. The decision to cultivate and sustain a positive perspective is a gift. It looks as though this Brooklynite is doing both.

So now, the trendsetter shares his most recent passion project. He is writing a book. “I Just Started Writing My Autobiography & My First Page More Lit Than Yo Daddy’s Daddy Whole Life,” he brags. Then three hush your mouth emojis are followed by the hashtags of Shmurda and DontPlayWithThatBoy.

Will Smith, Beyoncé & More Earn 2022 Golden Globe Award Nominations

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s 79th Golden Globe Awards will take place on January 9, 2022. Hip Hop icon Snoop Dogg and HFPA president Helen Hoehne announced the nominees on Monday.

Fellow rap legend Will Smith (fka The Fresh Prince) picked up a nomination for Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Drama for his portrayal of Richard Williams in King Richard. The biopic is also up for Best Motion Picture – Drama.

Will Smith is competing in the Best Actor category against Mahershala Ali for Swan Song, Javier Bardem for Being the Ricardos, Benedict Cumberbatch for The Power of the Dog, and Denzel Washington for The Tragedy of Macbeth.

The Best Original Song – Motion Picture nominations include “Be Alive” from King Richard. Beyoncé Knowles-Carter performed the tune. She and Dixson are also credited as songwriters.

“Dos Orugitas” by Lin-Manuel Miranda from Encanto, “Down to Joy” by Van Morrison from Belfast, “Here I Am (Singing My Way Home)” by Jamie Alexander Hartman, Jennifer Hudson and Carole King from Respect, and “No Time to Die” by Billie Eilish and Finneas O’Connell from No Time to Die are also nominated for Best Original Song.

Both Stars Go Into The Ceremony As Multi-Time Past Nominees

Previously, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter earned Golden Globe nods for Best Original Song in 2006, 2008, and 2020. The world-renowned entertainer was also nominated for Best Actress – Motion Picture Comedy or Musical in 2006 for Dreamgirls.

The Hollywood Foreign Press Association has nominated Will Smith for a Golden Globe Award six times over his illustrious career. He collected his first two nominations for Best Television Actor – Musical/Comedy Series.

Smith’s starring role in The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air garnered him Best Television Actor looks in 1993 and 1994. All four of his Best Actor – Motion Picture Drama nominations were for playing real-life individuals – Ali in 2002, The Pursuit of Happyness in 2007, Concussion in 2016, and King Richard in 2022.

Other notable 2022 Golden Globe Award nominees include Anthony Anderson (Black-ish) for Best TV Actor -Musical or Comedy, Tracee Ellis Ross (Black-ish) for Best TV Actress -Musical or Comedy, Issa Rae (Insecure) for Best TV Actress -Musical or Comedy, Billy Porter (Pose) for Best TV Actor- Drama, and Mj Rodriguez (Pose) for Best TV Actress – Drama.

In addition, Anthony Ramos (In the Heights) is up for Best Actor in a Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy, and Lady Gaga (House of Gucci) is up for Best Actress in a Motion Picture – Drama. Aunjanue Ellis (King Richard) was also nominated for Best Actress in a Supporting Role in Any Motion Picture.

Polo G Promises To “F*ck The Streets Up” With Southside Joint Project

Polo G is not slowing down. He recently released Hall of Fame 2.0 which included 14 additional tracks to the standard version of his 2021 album.

The reissue helped Hall of Fame jump 66 spots to #3 on the latest Billboard 200 chart by racking up 78,000 more units this week. Polo G’s third studio LP debuted at #1 in June.

It appears the Chicago rhymer is ready to move onto another music project. Polo G teased a collaborative effort with Atlanta-based record producer Southside of 808 Mafia.

“[And] they had leaked my whole s### a month [before] it dropped which I still can’t seem to figure how that happened,” tweeted Polo g after learning about Hall of Fame 2.0‘s recent sales week.

The 22-year-old Midwesterner continued, “But this light s### doe🙇🏾‍♂️I’m on to [this] Southside project. Me & bro @sizzle808MAFIA finna f### the streets up, [that’s] a guarantee 🌪🌪🌪🌪.”

Southside’s discography already features two joint efforts with Polo G’s “Go Part 1” collaborator G Herbo. Their Swervo album dropped in 2018. Herbo and Southside reunited for 2019’s Still Swervin.

Boosie Badazz Thanks Benzino For Defending Him Over Comments About Lil Nas X

Boosie Badazz still has thoughts about Lil Nas X and the LGBTQ community. After telling the 22-year-old Georgia-raised recording artist to kill himself for being gay, Boosie got some support from Benzino.

The former co-owner of The Source spoke with VladTV. During the conversation, Benzino brought up his outrage over Lil Nas X kissing another man at the BET Awards. The interviewer also asked the Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta alum about Boosie supposedly getting “canceled” for his bigoted comments about LNX.

“A lot of it was a lot. Especially from guys like me and Boosie and how we grew up and everything, it’s a lot. It’s different for us and people should respect that,” said Benzino about Lil Nas X expressing his sexuality so publicly.

Benzino added, “Just like we should respect them, they need to respect us. And if we can respect each other then I don’t think we’ll have a problem. What anybody does in their bedroom is up to them.”

Boosie Badazz reacted to Benzino defending him in the interview. The 39-year-old Baton Rouge, Louisiana native took to Twitter to express gratitude for Benzino backing him up.

“THANKS, @IAMBENZINO FOR BEING A VOICE. 🙌🏽WISH IT WAS MORE OF YOUR KIND MY G #real,” tweeted Boosie on Monday night. As of press time, that tweet has only garnered 16 retweets and 190 likes.

Lil Nas X and Boosie Badazz repeatedly addressed each other online throughout 2021. Recently, Boosie even filmed a scene for his Where’s MJ? movie that included a “Lil Nas X fan” aggressively confronting the “Wipe Me Down” rapper.
