Stephen A. Smith Recalls Jay-Z’s Reaction To His Rihanna “Ain’t Beyoncé” Remarks

Jay-Z doesn’t play about his family as Stephen A. Smith found when Hov checked him for comparing Beyoncé to Rihanna.

The renowned sports journalist went viral after sharing his belief that Rhianna’s Super Bowl Halftime Show performance would be outshined by Beyoncé’s previous turn at the coveted slot.

Smith addressed the fallout during an appearance on the Connect the Dots podcast on Monday (March 4).

“I love Rihanna. I bought her album, she gets my money. Mad love for her, wish her nothing but the best … But you do know there’s only one Beyonce,” Smith said – seemingly repeating his earlier take.

However, he revealed Jay-Z pulled him up on his remarks in a telephone call.

“A month later, Hov  and I were on the phone,” Smith added. “Hov was like, ‘My dawg, you family, that’s family. That’s too close to say that’…In other words, it’s a business, it’s a part of it, you don’t know how she’ll receive it, etc. etc. etc. That’s all he had to say. I appreciated that.”

Jay-Z’s call followed Smith claiming the Roc Nation artist, “ain’t Beyoncé,” during a chat on Sherri

“I don’t want to say I’m not excited, she’s fantastic, that’s not where I’m going with this,” he said referring to news of Rihanna’s performance. “Ladies and gentlemen, she’s a lot of things, she’s spectacular actually — and congratulations on the new mama hood — there’s one thing she’s not, she ain’t Beyoncé.”

Not only is the song ringing out in the Lakers’ locker room, but it’s being used to preach the word.

On Sunday (March 3) Rev. Melech E. M. Thomas quoted the song in his sermon, telling the congregation about “a new gospel artist” named Gloria Hallelujah Woods.

The reverend posted a clip of his sermon on Instagram, revealing he’s a long-time GloRilla fan, and he often quotes her lyrics during sermons. He also praised her for pushing motivational messages in her music.

“My love for preaching has always been influenced by the similarities between Black preachers and rappers. From content, delivery, stage presence, and, sometimes, even the message,” he shared. “@glorillapimp consistently puts out affirming and inspirational lyrical content and…consistently, her lyrics find their way into my sermons.

“This small clip from Sunday’s sermon speaks to how quickly God can “spin the block” on you, using a bar from Big Glo’s song “Tomorrow 2”! I hope that this serves as a reminder that no matter how rough your day may end, you can always fall in love with your Tomorrow!”

Meanwhile, GloRilla shared the clip on X, writing, “PREACH ! Yeah Glo.”

Blueface’s Mom Believes Chrisean Rock’s Son May Have “Neurological Problem” Caused By Drinking During Pregnancy

Chrisean Rock may be building bridges with Blueface while he’s locked up, but her relationship with the rapper’s mother appears to be deteriorating by the day.

The pair have never seen eye-to-eye, with Stafford being outspoken about her dislike for Rock and Blue’s romance and even denying he fathered her child.

Earlier this week, the reality TV star said she won’t allow Strafford to see Chrisean Rock Jr. In response to comments Stafford made about the baby’s looks. Stafford and others on social media have also voiced concerns over the child’s health. Some believe the child may have Fetal Alcohol Syndrome.

Stafford recently hopped on Instagram Live and attempted to justify her remarks.

“I said she drank and because I hear the cry and I see what y’all see, I do feel like there could be some type of neurological problem,” she began.

“I’m prepared to go get my matching helmet with my baby if he need a helmet. That’s not the same as you calling somebody r#######,” she added. “We don’t even use that word anymore.”

Stafford continued, claiming Rock’s drinking during pregnancy was common knowledge. “We could see something going on,” she stated. “His daddy see something going on. We know what come with this, we ain’t stupid and we ain’t finna play stupid.”

Kanye West Planning Donda Academy Overhaul After Legal Challenges

Ye is supposedly embarking on a new chapter for his private school, the Donda Academy, following a string of controversies and lawsuits from former staff members.

Ye has reportedly rebranded the school the Donda Ray Academy after a turbulent period for the institution, named after Ye’s late mother, Donda West, a respected Chicago educator.

The Donda Academy, initially launched with the promise of providing a world-class education meshed with a strong focus on creativity and the arts, has faced scrutiny over its operations and employment practices.

The academy has been hit with various lawsuits filed against the institution and Ye himself, alleging issues ranging from unpaid wages to unfair dismissal, shedding light on the complexities behind the academy’s glossy exterior.

Despite these challenges, Ye remains undeterred in his educational venture, planning a significant overhaul of the Donda Academy’s branding and operational philosophy.

While specific details about the rebrand remain closely guarded, insiders told The Sun of that that the reimagined academy will continue to emphasize creative expression but will also incorporate a more structured approach to traditional academics, perhaps in response to the criticism faced in its inaugural years.

As the Donda Academy embarks on this new path, it remains to be seen whether the changes implemented will quell the controversies or simply mark another chapter in the institution’s storied history. Yet, for Ye, this may represent an opportunity to honor his mother’s legacy or another attempt to educate his children on his own.

Last week, Kanye West publicly demanded on Instagram that Kim Kardashian remove their four children from Sierra Canyon School, criticizing it as a “fake school for celebrities” used by “the system.” He expressed concerns about the school’s influence and his children’s education, marking another episode in the ex-couple’s rocky co-parenting journey since their 2022 divorce.

EXCLUSIVE: Young Buck Denies Owing 50 Cent $250K, Tries Ducking Payment In Bankruptcy

Young Buck vehemently denies the claim that he received a $250,000 advance from 50 Cent and his label G-Unit as he attempts to pay off creditors in his bankruptcy case.

The conflict centers on an agreement dated July 22, 2014. 50 Cent has previously accused Young Buck of not fulfilling his contract with G-Unit, thus owing money to the label, a claim Young Buck denies. Young Buck and his legal team contend that doesn’t obligate him to repay any funds, as they weren’t classified as a loan.

In documents obtained by AllHipHop, Young Buck’s legal team outlined their objections to G-Unit Records’ claim of $250,000 against him. They argue that any money Young Buck received would’ve been before the contract’s signing and should be considered an advance rather than a debt.

Young Buck’s lawyer, Jonathan Augusta, explained the contract lacks any provision requiring Buck to repay these funds, thereby challenging the basis of G-Unit Records’ claim.

As the agreement doesn’t explicitly state that Young Buck must repay the advance in case of a breach, Buck’s attorneys argue that G-Unit Records’ claim lacks merit and should be dismissed.

‌This dispute between the two artists spans several years, featuring an intricate web of legal and personal disputes over contracts, debts and public insults. The disagreements have often spilled into the public sphere with personal insults, further complicating the relationship between Buck, 50 Cent and G-Unit Records.

Young Buck has faced financial turmoil, leading to two significant bankruptcy filings. His initial bankruptcy was filed in 2010, prompted by financial difficulties, including debts to 50 Cent, the IRS, child support obligations and other money issues.

He filed again in May 2020, aiming to restructure his debts under Chapter 13 bankruptcy protection, which came after a tumultuous 2019 involving jail time and financial struggles.

The move was partially to challenge his contractual obligations with 50 Cent’s G-Unit.

In a spirited call to action, Common tweeted, “Only 60 have been women, and only 3 have been black women. WE can be the change. VOTE NOW,” urging his followers to support black female candidates in their political endeavors.

His advocacy for change doesn’t come as a surprise to those familiar with his career, as Common has been actively involved in political campaigns, including those of former presidents Barack Obama and Joe Biden, using his platform to address social issues and encourage civic participation.

A focal point of Common’s advocacy is his support for Congresswoman Barbara Lee in California, who is running for the Senate seat vacated by the late Dianne Feinstein.

SIGNS: Clippers’ $2 Billion Dollar Stadium Vandalized By TikTok Teens Seeking Fame

Two teens brazenly broke into the Clippers’ future NBA home—and put it all on TikTok. Based on the video, they climbed an orange work ladder outside the construction grounds to enter the $2 billion Intuit Dome. In addition to exploring the grounds, the teens managed to get some shots up as well as improperly use a fire extinguisher to vandalize what appears to be a hoop on a practice court.

https://www.tiktok.com/@shawty_grandmaa/video/7340783426775108895?_t=8kQinG4PQrr&_r=1

James T. Butts, the mayor of the city of Englewood, has already promised to make the teens responsible for the damage “experience misery” for the trespassing incident.

“It will be very clear to these young men — and to people who are TikTok followers — that you have a moment of TikTok greatness followed by a little bit of misery,” Butts told LA Mag. “And so we don’t play around with these things. We know who the young men are. We have identified them and their parents, and they will be talked to probably tomorrow or the next day.”

“When you have construction sites, they’re nuisances and they attract kids and they attract people who want to steal tools,” he added.

Whether the punishment the teens receive from Butts will suffice is to be determined, considering the adolescents previously snuck into SoFi Stadium last year. And, of course, they shared their escapades on TikTok.

Check out the video below detailing the layout of the stadium below.

Actor/Rapper Isaiah Stokes Assaulted In Protective Custody

Isaiah Stokes, an actor known for his roles on 50 Cent’s#### series “Power,” “Law & Order” and a budding talent in the rap scene, has voiced concerns for his safety while detained at Rikers Island, claiming that he was assaulted in what was supposed to be a protective custody area.

Stokes, who also pursued a music career with features on AllHipHop.com, is currently facing serious charges that could lead to a life sentence. Stokes was arrested and charged in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in broad daylight in Queens, New York, in February 2021.

The incident has since cast a long shadow over his career, transitioning his narrative from an entertainer to an individual embroiled in a life-threatening legal battle. According to legal documents, he could be facing 25 years to life if found guilty of the charges against him.

The actor and musician’s claims of being attacked within a supposedly secure part of the correctional facility have raised concerns about the safety and well-being of inmates, particularly those who are held in protective custody to shield them from potential harm.

Stokes’ representation has yet to release official statements regarding the assault or his current condition. Rikers Island, a facility notorious for its harsh conditions and the frequent violence that occurs within its walls, is no stranger to controversy.Stokes’ allegations contribute to an ongoing discourse on prison reform and the protection of inmates, especially those like Stokes, who are in the public eye and possibly at an increased risk of targeted violence.

Beyond his acting career, Stokes made strides in the music industry, with AllHipHop.com spotlighting his contributions to rap. However, his legal troubles have undoubtedly overshadowed his artistic achievements, leaving his future in both fields uncertain.

Cardi B Fires Off Warning To Bia Over Biting Accusations

Online drama continued to plague Cardi B on Tuesday (March 5). The hitmaker was accused of biting Bia’s style, which elicited a response from the Atlantic Records artist.

“B###### make a fool of themselves every single time,” Cardi B wrote on X (formerly known as Twitter). “I’ma show ya something when I release this song tho.”

The diamond-selling rapper’s latest issue originated from a Nicki Minaj fan account on social media. The Nicki fan pointed out similarities between a Cardi B teaser featured in the “Like What (Freestyle)” music video and Bia’s song “FALLBACK.” Bia co-signed the fan’s thoughts by liking the post and responding with multiple woozy face emojis.

Bia also liked a separate post saying the snippet sounded like her song. Her endorsement added to biting chatter since “Like What (Freestyle)” featured Cardi B putting her spin on Missy Elliott’s “She’s a B####.” Bia previously sampled Missy’s single for the track “I’m That B####.”

Last year, Bia denied having any issues with Cardi B. Fans assumed there were problems between the two since Bia collaborated with Nicki, a noted rival of Cardi B.

“Keep it 100,” Bia said. “Sweetie, I didn’t switch up on anybody because I don’t know Cardi in real life. I’ve never met Cardi, we’ve never had a conversation. Like, I don’t have no issues with her, it’s all love, but I don’t know her. Y’all do too much on this app. I don’t know her in real life. We don’t know each other. We don’t know them. Ask me about somebody I know. Ask me about somebody I’ve met in real life, not online.”

Bia’s “FALLBACK” appeared on her 2023 album REALLY HER. Cardi B’s “Like What (Freestyle)” dropped in February. The teaser in question advised fans to stay tuned because the song was “just the beginning.” She planned to release her sophomore album later this year.

“Where’s season 2 bro?” an X user asked Staples on Monday (March 4). The Ramona Park Broke My Heart album creator responded, “As of now, it doesn’t exist but we have to convince @netflix that this is what the streets need. Click that double thumbs up.”

NFL Star Tyreek Hill Reveals Why He Can’t “Vibe” With Rick Ross Anymore

Miami Dolphins star Tyreek Hill wasn’t pleased with Rick Ross broadcasting the wide receiver’s house fire on social media. The NFL veteran called out Rozay for publicizing the situation instead of contacting Hill on The Pivot podcast.

“Rick Ross, bruh, I can’t vibe with you now,” Hill said. “I can’t f### with you no more … Rick Ross, man, like you ain’t even come over. You had the audacity to talk to a fireman instead of—you got my number, bruh. You get on Twitter, posting me all over Twitter. Like after what me and my family went through. You supposed to be the neighbor, the neighborhood hero!”

He added, “And then he gonna say something about Wingstop on there. I’m like, ‘Yo! What’s going on?’ Don’t try to use me for promotion.”

Hill’s Florida home caught on fire in January. According to the Miami Herald, the fire resulted in $2.3 worth of damages. No one was injured in the fire.

A fire department report determined the fire was an accident. The flames were attributed to two children playing with a lighter, which they thought was a toy. Multiple family members were staying at Hill’s home.

“I still don’t got the full story,” he said on The Pivot. “I’m asking everybody in the house what’s going on. Everybody looking at me crazy. So, going through that feeling right there though, that was like the worst thing ever though. ‘Cause it’s like everything that you worked hard for … People won’t take care of your stuff the same way you would. And it’s like bro, that’s the most hurtful feeling ever.”

Hill found out about the fire while he was at football practice. The Dolphins standout told The Pivot hosts he was likely moving because his home address was exposed to the public.

Quando Rondo Snaps On Fan Who Calls Gunna “A Snitch”

Quando Rondo appears to have become an unlikely supporter of his fellow rap peer Gunna. During a recent livestream, Quando Rondo was listening to Gunna’s music when a fan called the YSL rapper a snitch.

“Gunna a snitch rat?!” Rondo questioned rhetorically as he read the comment out loud. “Man hold on, watch this. Man I feel like everybody taking, man bruh—man y’all can’t say that. I feel like a rat is somebody who is in paperwork, like what the f##k.” He continued, seemingly attempting to clear Gunna’s name in the process.

“I highly doubt that man gave information or informed law-enforcement on anything going on with him and his people,” he concluded.

On the other hand, Gunna appears to be unfazed by me, ongoing “snitch” narrative surrounding him. Upon releasing his recent single “Bittersweet” gonna also announced his upcoming tour of the same name featuring Flo Milli.

Check out the video for “Bittersweet” below.

NoCap’s Music Video Causes Murder Conviction To Crumble In Georgia

The Supreme Court of Georgia overturned a man’s murder conviction due to improper use of a NoCap music video in the defendant’s trial. Georgia’s highest court ruled a trial court abused its discretion by admitting the video as evidence in Morgan Baker’s trial for the 2019 shooting death of Tamarco Head.

“The rap music video was highly prejudicial,” the Supreme Court of Georgia said. “It allowed the State to introduce impermissible propensity evidence by portraying Baker as a threatening gunman, and the prosecutor severely exacerbated the video’s prejudicial impact by emphasizing that it showed Baker’s predisposition to gun violence. Although the video excerpt was relatively brief—it was only about 30-seconds long (as the trial court pointed out in its order denying Baker’s motion for new trial)—the prosecutor made it a focal point of the trial.”

Georgia’s Supreme Court continued, “She played the video for the jury three times at three different points during the trial; questioned three witnesses about the video (specifically highlighting that the video advocated gun violence); and then emphasized during her closing argument that Baker and other rap artists ‘promote[d]’ gun violence, because ‘[t]hat’s all they know,’ a pointed argument that reinforced to the jury Baker’s alleged violent character.”

Baker admitted he was friends with NoCap, whose real name is Kobe Crawford, and never denied his presence at the nightclub where the deadly shooting took place. The Supreme Court of Georgia said prosecutors failed to introduce any evidence proving Baker carried a gun on the night of the shooting.

The court also found no evidence connecting the gun from NoCap’s video to the shooting. It determined prosecutors “aggrandized a connection between Baker and gun violence” by presenting the video as key evidence.

“We cannot say that it is ‘highly probable’ that the trial court’s improper admission of the evidence
of the rap music video did not contribute to the guilty verdict, and thus the State has not met its burden of showing that the error was harmless,” the court explained. “We therefore reverse Baker’s malice murder conviction.”

Baker was sentenced to life in prison in 2022.

Chrisean Rock Refuses To Turn Herself Into Police Custody Despite Warrants

Chrisean Rock aimed to stay out of jail now that she’s a mother. The reality TV star provided an update on her legal troubles in a chat with fans on Instagram Live.

“My warrants are getting cleaned up,” she said. “I’ve been paying off fees and getting rid of s###, talking to certain people to help my situation out ‘cause you know I have my son. So, the old me would have just turned myself in and dealt with it through from inside to the outside of the jail. So, whatever … But right now I gotta play it cautious because I don’t plan on being in jail while my son is growing. I just don’t plan on that at all. So, I’m doing every way possible to get that figured out without even trying to serve time. And it’s working out for me. So, I’ma work on my little situations and stuff.”

Last month, a bench warrant was issued for Chrisean in Oklahoma. She allegedly violated her probation in a drug case. She was sentenced to four years of probation for drug charges.

Chrisean’s probation violation stemmed from a November 2023 altercation with James Wright at a Tamar Braxton show. Wright sued Chrisean for assault in February. He accused of her punching him in the face and breaking two of his teeth.

“She hit him multiple times in the face for no reason at all,” Wright’s lawyer Kevin Anderson told the Los Angeles Times. “We were surprised that she was able to leave the facility that night. She had on rings that were pretty much equivalent to brass knuckles.”

Chrisean faced criminal and civil issues while Blueface, the father of her only child, served time behind bars. Blueface was jailed for a probation violation in January. He is scheduled to be released in July.

The Seattle Seahawks traded Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos in 2022. Wilson accumulated over 6,500 passing yards and 42 touchdowns during his two seasons as Broncos QB. However, the team only went 13-21 in that timeframe.

This announcement comes on the heels of Drake’s highly successful 2023 It’s All A Blur Tour, which saw 50 sold-out shows across North America and featured the majority of dates with J. Cole.

His latest studio album, For All The Dogs, continues to dominate streaming charts and his dedication to spreading positivity has been a hallmark of his 2024 tour, making each concert not just a performance, but a platform for change.
