DaBaby Allegedly Hoarding Crucial Evidence In 2020 Assault Case

DaBaby reportedly refuses to hand over crucial video evidence in a pending assault case. According to court documents, the Blame It On Baby rapper and his alleged victim, Gary Pagar, are fighting over photos and video involving the reported beating.

The alleged incident took place in 2020 at a Hollywood Hills mansion owned by Pager. As part of the rules, DaBaby was allowed to have no more than nine people on the property. Instead, Pager encountered more than 40 people shooting a video. After a confrontation, Pager says DaBaby and his entourage “beat, punched, spat on, threatened, shoved, and robbed” him.

Hours after news of the allegations broke, DaBaby released purported footage Pagar appearing to use the “N-word.” He also accused Pagar of lying to law enforcement and the media “not knowing that he’s caught on camera.” Nevertheless, criminal charges against DaBaby were filed in September 2020.

The civil lawsuit, filed in February 2020 in Los Angeles Superior Court, came with more allegations. Pagar claimed DaBaby and his associates rented the house for “a private vacation with no more than nine people.” He allegedly swore to Pager there would be “no crowds, no parties and no filming.”

“In fact, the purpose of defendants’ trip to Los Angeles was to gather 40 people and a commercial film crew at Mr. Pagar’s house to film a music video,” the docs read. “When Mr. Pagar asked them to stop, they beat and battered him, stole his phone by force so he couldn’t call the police, and threatened him. Then they vandalized his house and left, after stealing various valuable items.”

Doja Cat Says Blue Check Marks On Twitter Are For “Losers” After Losing Her Verification

Doja Cat has reacted to losing her blue verification checkmark on Twitter.

After a Twitter user pointed out that the “Woman” rapper no longer had a blue checkmark next to her name on the platform, Doja spoke out about the symbol’s new meaning now that users were required to pay for them as part of a subscription plan.

“Only fans have blue ticks,” the rapper tweeted in response to the remark. “Having a blue tick now means there’s a higher chance that you’re a complete loser and that you’re desperate for validation from famous people.”

https://twitter.com/DojaCat/status/1645698094745673730?s=20

When a fan with a blue tick asked if they were a loser, Doja replied, “You have a higher chance of being one for sure. People buy blue ticks to feel important, not because they built anything meaningful.”

The verified blue tick system on Twitter was originally used to distinguish genuine notable account holders, such as celebrities and organizations, from impostors or parodies.

When billionaire Elon Musk took over Twitter last year, he created Twitter Blue, a paid subscription service that allowed any user to buy a blue tick.

On Tuesday, he announced that all blue checkmarks previously given to accounts for identity verification purposes would be removed by April 20th leaving only those that had been paid for.

He tweeted, “Final date for removing legacy Blue checks is 4/20.”

Napoleon Admits He Spit On Shyne Over Loyalty To 2Pac—But Later Gained Respect For Him

The Outlawz were thick as thieves at one point. Founded by 2Pac—who went by his alias Makaveli—the group has released numerous albums over the years, including their 1999 platinum-selling debut Still I Rise. As the only album on the Death Row label, the bulk of the songs featured posthumous lyrics from 2Pac. Understandably, the rest of the Outlawz had a steadfast loyalty to their dogmatic leader. Speaking to Art of Dialogue in a recent interview, former member Napoleon explained why he once spit on Shyne out of respect for the late Hip-Hop legend.

“When the East Coast-West Coast thing was at its peak, a lot of rappers from the East Coast would come to L.A.,” he said. “We’d see them and try to press them. We was at one of the Source Awards and we were deep, bro. We had the homies from Jersey, we had homies from Compton, from L.A. We had these red-and-white Outlawz shirts so you just see us coming, like 40 deep. And we looking for trouble. We had that mindset like we looking for trouble.

“I was sitting in the aisle seat and I happen to look over and seen Shyne. He was by himself. He was just with a female. I looked at him. He looked at me. I say, ‘What’s up?’ He says, ‘What’s up?'”

Napoleon still believes it could’ve been a setup, considering the organizers placed the Outlawz right across the aisle from someone affiliated with Diddy and Bad Boy Records, who had beef with 2Pac.

He continued, “I got up and the whole squad got up, started mouthing off. The security’s there, so I can’t really do much. The reason I gotta lot of respect for Shyne is because he stood up. He ain’t back down. He was by himself with a lady. I tried to get to him, but security was backing us up. So I spit at him. And he did it back. He spit at us. It was getting heated. It was really about to go down.

“From that day on, I really had a lot of respect for him. Years later, I spoke to him on Twitter. We had a very positive conversation about that event. I had to tell him, ‘Look I’m Muslim now. We both was wild, but it’s good to see you doing your thing now and that you’ve matured.’ He said the same thing. He said, ‘I love ‘Pac. To us, he was our first Barack Obama.’ We automatically thinkin’ that he our enemy because he’s with Bad Boy. He loved ‘Pac. He respected ‘Pac.”

Shyne was headed down a dark road when he was arrested for the 1999 NYC club shooting involving Diddy and then-girlfriend Jennifer Lopez. Although Shyne claimed self-defense, he was convicted on two counts of assault and of reckless endangerment, and criminal possession of an illegal weapon. He was sentenced in June 2001 to 10 years in prison, without eligibility for parole until 2009. He served almost nine years in New York prison and was released.

Napoleon added how “courageous” he felt Shyne is and was also impressed by his current political career in Belize. Watch the full clip above.

Rick Ross, Fat Joe & The Lox Team Up For Basketball-Themed Single “The Game”

Sports betting company DraftKings recruited several Hip Hop heavyweights for a new collaboration. Rick Ross and Fat Joe along with Jadakiss and Styles P of The Lox unite for “The Game.”

The basketball-themed track arrives as the 2023 NBA Play-In Tournament kicked off this week. Beginning April 12, “The Game” will play during the commercial breaks of ESPN’s Play-In telecasts and other programming.

An official music video for Rick Ross, Fat Joe, and The Lox’s single also landed on YouTube. The visuals display footage from NBA games as the emcees pay tribute to basketball culture with their lyrics.

Rick Ross is coming off closing out the 65th Annual Grammy Awards in February. The Miami-raised rhymer joined DJ Khaled, Jay-Z, Lil Wayne, John Legend, and Fridayy for a live rendition of Khaled’s Grammy-nominated “God Did” song.

Jadakiss and Styles P also performed at this year’s Grammy ceremony. The Lox took part in the star-studded “50 Years of Hip Hop” celebration. Other rap legends like Run-DMC, LL Cool J, Salt-N-Pepa, Rakim, Public Enemy, De La Soul, Queen Latifah, and Missy Elliott contributed to the set as well.

Fat Joe had some complaints about the 2023 Grammy Awards, particularly Bonnie Raitt’s “Just Like That” winning Song Of The Year. The Terror Squad leader did have the chance to captain an award show when he served as host for the 2022 BET Hip-Hop Awards.

Queen Latifah Becomes First Female Rapper To Join Library of Congress National Recording Registry

Dana “Queen Latifah” Owens has added another history-making moment to her extensive list of accomplishments in the entertainment business.

Queen Latifah’s All Hail the Queen is the first album by a female rapper to join the National Recording Registry organized by the United States Library of Congress.

All Hail the Queen is part of a 2023 Class of National Recording Registry inductees. The 25 picks include recordings by Madonna (“Like A Virgin”), John Lennon (“Imagine”), Led Zeppelin (“Stairway to Heaven”), and Mariah Carey (“All I Want for Christmas is You”).

“The National Recording Registry preserves our history through recorded sound and reflects our nation’s diverse culture,” states Librarian of Congress Carla Hayden. Only 625 selections have been added to the National Recording Registry since its inception.

Carla Hayden adds, “The national library is proud to help ensure these recordings are preserved for generations to come, and we welcome the public’s input on what songs, speeches, podcasts, or recorded sounds we should preserve next. We received more than 1,100 public nominations this year for recordings to add to the registry.”

Queen Latifah Conquered Music, TV & Film

A 19-year-old Queen Latifah dropped her debut studio LP, All Hail the Queen, in 1989 via Tommy Boy Records. The 12-track project hosts the female empowerment anthem “Ladies First” with British rapper Monie Love.

All Hail the Queen also features guest appearances by De La Soul, Daddy-O, 45 King, and KRS-One. Queen Latifah followed that body of work with other rap releases. For example, Nature of a Sista came out in 1991. The Gold-certified Black Reign landed two years later.

Queen Latifah expanded her career beyond just music. She played a main character in the Living Single sitcom and The Equalizer crime drama. Plus, Owens hosted the syndicated The Queen Latifah Show. The New Jersey native also starred in numerous movies like Juice, Set It Off, Bringing Down the House, Hairspray, and Girls Trip.

Her performance in the motion picture musical Chicago earned Queen Latifah an Academy Award nomination for Best Supporting Actress. Latifah’s “U.N.I.T.Y.” won Best Rap Solo Performance at the 1995 Grammy Awards. She also earned a Primetime Emmy Award for producing the HBO television film Bessie.

Billy McFarland Offers Explanation For Setting Up Fyre Festival II

The ill-fated 2017 Fyre Festival was such a disaster that Fyre Media founder William “Billy” McFarland ended up in federal prison. Apparently, McFarland wants to try to launch Fyre again.

Billy McFarland partnered with Hip Hop artist Ja Rule to present the so-called “luxury” music festival on the Bahamian island of Great Exuma. Attendees arrived at the location to discover a lack of security, food, and expected amenities.

Thousands of festival-goers found themselves stranded in The Bahamas after Fyre Festival organizers canceled the entire concert. Local vendors and laborers reportedly never received compensation for their work. Various plaintiffs filed multiple lawsuits.

Two separate documentaries about Fyre Festival further publicized Billy McFarland’s horrible planning and false advertising. Hulu’s Fyre Fraud came out on January 14, 2019. Netflix’s Fyre: The Greatest Party That Never Happened arrived four days later.

Despite the widespread negative perception associated with the Fyre failure, Billy McFarland teased a comeback on Twitter. The convicted felon tweeted, “🔥 Fyre Festival II is finally happening. Tell me why you should be invited.”

https://twitter.com/pyrtbilly/status/1645215767552729088?s=20

One Twitter user reacted to McFarland by writing, “Tell me why you shouldn’t be in jail.” The alleged con artist responded, “It’s in the best interest of those I owe for me to be working. People aren’t getting paid back if I sit on the couch and watch TV. And because I served my time.”

A Manhattan federal court sentenced Billy McFarland to six years in prison after he pled guilty to wire fraud. The case stemmed from McFarland’s plot to defraud investors in his Fyre Media company and Fyre Festival.

“Billy McFarland has shown a disturbing pattern of deception, which resulted in investors and customers losing over $26 million in two separate fraud schemes,” stated then-Manhattan U.S. Attorney Geoffrey Berman.

McFarland received an early release in March 2022 before moving into a halfway house. In a December 2022 interview with Vanity Fair, the “poster boy for millennial scamming” acknowledged that he “really messed up” with the 2017 Fyre Festival.

Hollywood Walk Of Fame Announces Date For Martin Lawrence’s Star Ceremony

With a successful career in movies, television, and stand-up comedy, it should come as no surprise that Martin Lawrence will be immortalized on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.

Last year, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce revealed Martin Lawrence as a Walk of Fame honoree. The organization’s Vice-President of Media Relations, Ana Martinez, has now confirmed the date for Lawrence’s ceremony.

“Comedian Martin Lawrence to be honored with [a] star on the Walk of Fame on April 20th! #walkoffame,” tweeted Ana Martinez on Tuesday evening.

Martin Lawrence first learned about his Walk of Fame selection in June 2022. At the time, the DMV-raised entertainer uploaded a YouTube video of his reaction to learning the news.

“We did it! We did it!” said Lawrence in the 54-second clip. “All the way from Landover, Washington DC, all the way to Hollywood. We did it. God bless. God bless.”

Martin Lawrence is best known for starring in his classic 1990s sitcom Martin. He also gained global notoriety for being one-half of the buddy-cop duo in the Bad Boys motion picture franchise alongside Will Smith.

Additionally, Lawrence acted in other movies such as Do the Right Thing, House Party, Boomerang, Life, Big Momma’s House, and Welcome Home Roscoe Jenkins. The NAACP Image Award winner also presented stand-up comedy films like You So Crazy and Runteldat.

Rapper Killed In Standoff With Police After Shooting Mother, Brother & Sister

A Virginia rapper was reportedly killed in a standoff with police after shooting three members of his family while he dropped a music video.

ABC 8 News reports Tiye Adam Washington II, who goes by the stage name EGYPXN, forced entry into his mother’s home last Tuesday (Mar. 28). Once inside, he shot his mother, Tyesha Hall, his 21-year-old sister, and his 12-year-old brother before fleeing the scene.

All three were taken to VCU Medical Critical Care with life-threatening injuries, where they remain in recovery. Their condition is not known.

According to The Source, Washington pre-scheduled the release of his “Be Free” music video for the day of the shootings.

Law enforcement launched a city-wide manhunt for the 26-year-old rapper. On Mar. 30, cops tracked him down to Rutherford County, North Carolina, and Washington was killed in a standoff. A deputy was taken to hospital, reportedly shot during an exchange of gunfire.

“I didn’t see anything but I heard a lot of shots and a lot of yelling,” an eyewitness recalled. “We heard more bullets shooting. And then within about 10 minutes we heard a barrage of bullets. So we both got up and went to windows, looking out to see what we could see.”

Washington shared his “last request” on Instagram the day he died.

“My last request from humanity is that you seriously evaluate the care you have for each other. If this species is to ever evolve you must stop eating animals, stop warring with each other and take care of mother earth,” he penned in the caption. “Overthrow this sadistic government and rebuild. On a fresh foundation. It’s time for me to rest now..”

Chlöe Bailey Slams Album Critics In Expletive-Laced Rant On Opening Night of Tour

Chlöe Bailey has broken her silence and responded to the online chatter about her debut solo album’s underwhelming sales.

The highly anticipated In Pieces was released on Mar. 31 and debuted at No. 119 on the Billboard 200 albums chart with only 10,000 units, per Chart Data. Many online blamed Beyoncé for the lackluster sales, claiming she should have promoted her Parkwood Entertainment artist to boost sales.

Bey signed Chlöe and her sister Halle Bailey to her management company back in 2015. People on Twitter suggested Beyoncé should have given Chlöe a feature on the album or at least posted it on social media. Others suggested the Swarm actress could have joined Bey on her Renaissance tour.

Earlier this week, Chlöe took to Twitter to explain her process behind the album before cursing out the haters a day later.

“In pieces was about letting go & trusting myself. i’ve enjoyed every moment of it and i love everyone who listened to it,” Chlöe Bailey penned Monday. “Tour starts tomorrow in chicago and im so ready to perform these songs for yall. ❤️‍🔥”

As her Chicago show came to a close, Chlöe took a moment to address the talk about her LP, and she did not hold back.

“Make sure y’all are supporting the muthafuckin album. F### what the f### everybody got to f###### say. They can kiss my Black ass,” she declared.

“Because I know you guys love me and this is all I need. Thank you for loving me,” she added. “Y’all don’t know how much you mean to me.” Check out the clip below and stream In Pieces at the end of the page.

Are Young Thug’s YSL And YFN Lucci’s Crew Warring In Jail?

Fulton County in Georgia is reportedly on FIRE with violence! A new video in circulation allegedly shows a member of YFN (YFN Lucci’s Gang) beating the breaks off of a member of Young Thug’s YSL Gang!

😲

How? I do not know but the video is very disturbing. It depicts a man hogtied with a white washcloth or something in his mouth. He cannot talk. But, this is not just “some guy.” This dude has a YLS tat on his arm and other man berates him for it. The predator takes a knife and scrapes away at a tat that represents YSL! Do you know how much that hurts? You cannot get rid of tattoos like that, can you?

Well, this tormentor tried!!

This video has started a storm of controversy! Apparently, this man was in “custody,” but somehow was handed over to his opps. It was at that time he was tortured. People are upset and want to know how this could be happening to people. There should be some sort of guard nearby. Something!

It seems like these squads are going to be at war forever.

Black Thought Teases “Timeless Classic” With Yasiin Bey (FKA Mos Def)

Black Thought revealed a collaboration with Yasiin Bey and promised it will “represent a seismic shift in the game.”

The Roots frontman mentioned his song with Yasiin Bey in an interview with The FADER. Black Thought teamed up with the artist formerly known as Mos Def for Streams of Thought Vol. 4, an upcoming project produced by 14KT.

“He’s from Detroit, now L.A. based, a brilliant producer,” Black Thought said of 14KT. “I never knew dude. I wasn’t familiar with his work. But I’ve got lots of connections to Detroit — family, longtime friends. DJ Jazzy Jeff does these retreats at his home annually where he flies in writers, producers from all over the world.”

Black Thought continued, “I didn’t meet KT at Jeff’s crib, but James Poyser did. James is a member of The Roots and an original member of Jazzy Jeff’s camp. He’s like, ‘Yo, I met this dude. He’s a brilliant producer. He said he’s a huge fan. He has this one beat he wants to play for you’ … We chopped it up. KT sent me this beat to a song called ‘Blaaaaack!’ and that became the first song I recorded, me and Yasiin Bey, on Streams of Thought Vol. 4.”

The renowned rapper set high expectations for the Yasiin Bey-assisted track, which he’s been sitting on for a few years.

“It’s a timeless classic,” Black Thought said. “It’s been in my vault for a couple years already. It could come out at any point in time, and it’ll still represent a seismic shift in the game just because of how powerful it is and what it speaks to.”

Look out for Black Thought’s new album Glorious Game, which drops on Friday (April 14).

Swae Lee Recalls Going Viral For Mistakenly Posting Penis Pic On Instagram

Swae Lee told the story behind an embarrassing moment from a few years ago on The Bootleg Kev Podcast.

The Rae Sremmurd rapper explained how he accidentally posted a picture of his penis on Instagram Stories. Swae Lee said he was trying to check out a new tattoo on his stomach but ended up sharing a full-frontal photo with his social media followers.

“I’m in the Hills, I’m in an AirbnB,” he told Bootleg Kev. “Just got a tattoo, boom … I’m trying to see what it look like, boom, I record it. This is when Instagram just changed. So, I’m in the bathroom. I’m getting ready to go somewhere. I accidentally hit the—it’s a button where you don’t even, it don’t even ask you do you want to post this. It just goes to your story.”

He continued, “So, I’m getting ready, still. Just jumped out the shower, put my clothes on … The s### online, circulating online. I’m just doing my normal activities: getting dressed, my keys, I’m going to the car. It’s like a 15-20 minute process of me going from the bathroom to the car. [I] drive around the Hills, no service on my phone. No idea what’s going on in the world. Everybody start hitting me, ‘Swae, your dick is online.’ I’m like, ‘What?’”

Swae Lee remembered more people alerting him to the photo, but it was too late for him to do anything about it. He admitted it wasn’t the most flattering picture, which still irked him.

“I get away from my Airbnb, more towards the city now,” he said. “It’s like 10 minutes later. And yeah, my s### was on there. But it was late at night, so I knew by morning, this s### gon’ be viral.”

EXCLUSIVE: SWV Explains Why They Avoid Airing Out Their Dirty Laundry Unlike Xscape

SWV’s Coko, LeLee and Taj aim to keep their problems out of the public eye.

The trio discussed Bravo’s new series SWV & Xscape: The Queens of R&B in an interview with AllHipHop’s Nikki Duncan-Smith. Coko, LeLee and Taj pointed out how they differ from Xscape, whose family drama turned into a major storyline on the reality TV show.

“We know how to handle ourselves,” Taj told AllHipHop. “If we did have an argument or something, we handle it in-house. We don’t put it out there. Why? So the internet and the world could sit there and judge us over something that we can talk out?”

Xscape’s Tamika Scott accused her sister and fellow Xscape member LaTocha Scott-Bivens of stealing $30,000 in royalties. The dispute became fodder for reality TV and social media.

SWV couldn’t imagine a scenario where they would publicize any turmoil within their group like Xscape did.

“Yes, we have issues,” Coko told AllHipHop. “But like Taj said, ‘There’s a right way to do the wrong thing.’ And we choose not to just go on social media and make everybody a part of what we’re dealing with. I think that’s the right way to do it ’cause you can’t fight everybody on social media.”

She continued, “We got stuff to do. We got our businesses. We got our families. We do this life thing for real. We do our life thing a lot more than we do social media. We just kind of focus on what’s important, and what’s going to keep us alive and that’s our families and the people that we love.”

SWV experienced some regret about participating in the Bravo series with Xscape due to the drama. The reality TV show spawned from their matchup in Verzuz.

‘Love And Hip-Hop: Atlanta’ Leaving VH1 In Shakeup At Paramount

Love and Hip-Hop: Atlanta found a new home ahead of its 11th season.

According to Deadline, Paramount moved the reality TV show from VH1 to MTV. The media company also shifted two other VH1 shows, Couples Retreat and Caught in the Act: Unfaithful, to MTV.

“On the heels of launching Antoinette Media with Lashan Browning, we’re thrilled to continue fueling our robust unscripted slate of hits on MTV and introduce new audiences to the cultural phenomenon Love and Hip Hop: Atlanta as well as fan favorites like Couples Retreat and Caught in the Act: Unfaithful,” Showtime and MTV Entertainment Studio Chief Creative Officer and President of Content Nina Diaz said.

LHHATL debuted on VH1 in 2012. It was the first spinoff in the Love and Hip-Hop franchise.

A clip show called Run It Back will start airing on MTV in May. It will feature cast members looking back at the first season of the reality TV series and sharing behind-the-scenes stories.

Season 11 of Love and Hip-Hop: Atlanta is scheduled to premiere this summer. The series reportedly underwent a reboot after airing on VH1 for the last decade. Producers MTV Entertainment Studios and Antoinette Media changed the show’s approach to storytelling, per Deadline.
