Ice Spice Talks Being “Mesmerized” By Nicki Minaj

Lil Kim and Nicki Minaj have been longtime rivals, but both Hip Hop legends inspired generations of young women to step into the recording booth. For example, Ice Spice acknowledged the impact of her fellow New York City natives.

XXL ran a feature article about Ice Spice this week. In the piece, Kemet High wrote about how the 23-year-old Bronx representative named Lil Kim and Nicki Minaj as influences. Ice Spice specifically mentioned Minaj.

“When I saw Nicki, I was so mesmerized,” stated Spice. “She’s the first female rapper that I [saw]. And ever since then, I was kinda set on what I wanted to be.”

Ice Spice was one of Hip Hop’s top Rookies of the Year in 2022. After being released in August, “Munch (Feelin’ U)” became a viral hit. The single earned Spice her first placement on a Billboard chart.

“Bikini Bottom” followed “Munch (Feelin’ U)” in October 2022. Ice Spice then dropped “In Ha Mood” earlier this month. All three songs amassed more than 57 million combined plays on Spotify. The “Munch (Feelin’ U)” music video also has over 25 million YouTube views.

Spice’s new year has already started with recognition from two prominent DSPs. Spotify included her on the streamer’s 2023 Artist To Watch playlist presented by Most Necessary. Vevo also listed her in its DSCVR Artist To Watch class for 2023.

“I just started my career so I got a long way to go before I’m satisfied. But I want to be remembered for all the things I didn’t get to do yet,” Ice Spice told XXL. She reportedly signed a $3 million record deal with 10K Projects last year.

Master P & Snoop Ink Deal With Post Holdings, Inc. For Cereal Brands

Some people were born with a silver spoon— but two of your favorite rappers have gold ones. But the status symbol is not about inherited wealth, but the kind earned the honest and hard way.

Master P and Snoop Dogg have inked a lucrative with Post Holdings Inc, one of the top cereal companies in the world.

The No Limit Soldier dropped the news on MLK Day, a move that signified for both companies a venture into diversity and inclusion in the once all white-owned breakfast food space.

He captioned, “HAPPY MLK DAY @snoopdogg and I are the first black-owned cereal company with a national distribution deal. Salute to @post_cereals for believing in diversity. SnoopCereal.com BroadusFoods.com The more we make, the more we give. #GODisGOOD #goldspoon.”

As reported by AllHipHop.com, Master P and Snoop launched their two breakfast food lines over the pandemic. First P debuted his line but then brought the Death Row owner along with him in the game.

He posted a video of the inking with the Post record execs, he said, “Now, I feel like I’m back in my record company days.”

“I did a record deal I sold 100 million records, and now with the cereal game. This is a new game!” Master P, whose real name is Percy Miller, declared.  “I got a gold spoon. This is what diversity is all about.”

The multi-hyphenate said Post was the “only company that stepped up and seen the vision” he had about “getting African American owned products on the shelf” in major markets. He noted the importance of Blacks having ownership in the space because they spend over $1 Trillion spending on breakfast food products.

“Now, we will be able to put money back into our community and our culture.  So, t this is bigger than just the cereal. This is going to make a difference and we’ll be able to feed so many people.”

He later joked about having solid gold ceilings in his home but said the gold spoon means something more now.

An executive spoke up saying the company was extremely “happy to partner with [P] on that vision.”

P, then promised, “This is only the beginning,” adding  “We’re going to work hard. We know it’s not going to be easy and there’s a lot of competition out there but we’ve never been afraid to work.”

21 Savage Argues About Chicago Violence On Clubhouse

London-born, Atlanta-raised rapper 21 Savage was recently back on the Clubhouse app sharing his thoughts. Audio from a heated conversation involving Savage made its way to other social media sites.

In one clip, 21 Savage can be heard yelling at someone else in the Clubhouse room. It is not clear what sparked the verbal confrontation, but Savage blasted a particular individual while mentioning the city of Chicago.

“You waited for this moment your whole life, so you could argue with a n#### on Clubhouse,” stated 21. “You keep letting all these Chicago n##### boost your head up like y’all n##### ain’t dying in real life. Stop playing.”

In addition, the discussion focused on what sounded like specific street violence directly involving people associated with 21 Savage. The Grammy winner did not hold back in recounting alleged incidents of murder.

“Every n#### that we beef with, n####, thirty of their n##### get smoked, and don’t nothing happen to us! In real life, n####. This [is] real life, n####!” screamed 21 Savage.

The Slaughter Gang frontman continued, “Aye Cap, you from Chicago. I advise you to shut the f### up. Cause the n##### that I f### with up there spanking s###, so stop playing. Y’all ain’t spanking nothing, n####!”

Before launching his career as a recording artist, 21 Savage (born Shéyaa Bin Abraham-Joseph) had run-ins with the law, including a felony drug conviction in October 2014. Federal authorities also detained the “No Heart” rhymer in 2019 for an immigration violation.

21 Savage’s album discography now contains 2017’s Issa Album and 2018’s I Am > I Was. The 30-year-old southerner also teamed up with producer Metro Boomin for 2016’s Savage Mode and 2020’s Savage Mode II.

Additionally, 21 Savage joined forces with music superstar Drake for 2022’s Her Loss collaborative studio LP. I Am > I Was, Savage Mode II, and Her Loss each peaked at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart.

Tierra Whack Declares Eminem As The Best Rapper Ever

Philadelphia-bred Hip Hop artist Tierra Whack caused some commotion online over the weekend. Some social media users took issue with Whack’s personal take on a Hip Hop legend.

“Eminem [is] still the best rapper ever whether you can relate to him or not!” tweeted Tierra Whack on Sunday. That post generated over 1.6 million views and more than 1,300 retweets on Twitter.

Tierra Whack’s Twitter mentions became flooded with commenters challenging her GOAT (greatest of all time) declaration about Eminem. Other accounts pushed back by mentioning names such as 2Pac, Nicki Minaj, Jadakiss, and Lil Wayne.

Apparently, some people took issue with Tierra Whack honoring Eminem in that way because he is a Caucasian emcee. It appears Whack responded to that criticism by tweeting, “Eminem is light skin.”

Since his arrival on the music scene in the late 1990s, Eminem has scored five #1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and ten #1 albums on the Billboard 200 chart. Plus, the Detroit native won 15 Grammy Awards and has six Diamond Awards from the RIAA.

Tierra Whack earned her only Grammy nomination at the 61st Annual Grammy Awards in 2019. The Recording Academy nominated Whack’s “Mumbo Jumbo” for Best Music Video. “This Is America” by Childish Gambino won the Grammy in the category that year.

“Mumbo Jumbo” dropped as a single in 2017. The 15-minute Whack World project arrived the following year. Tierra Whack’s major-label debut consisted of fifteen tracks, each around one minute in length. Whack World made several music publications’ “Best Albums of 2018” lists.

SZA’s ‘SOS’ Becomes Longest-Running Female R&B Album At No. 1 Since 1999

At this point, it is accurate to say SZA has cemented her name in the music history books with her SOS album. The Top Dawg Entertainment-backed project is the #1 album in America for a fifth straight week.

SOS collected another 125,000 equivalent album units in week five of its release. By topping the Billboard 200 chart five consecutive times, SZA achieved two feats that have not been accomplished since the 1990s.

According to Billboard, SZA’s SOS is the first R&B album by a female act to control the album chart for five weeks since TLC’s FanMail in 1999. SOS is also the first solo female album to remain at No. 1 for at least five weeks since Mariah Carey’s Daydream in 1995-1996.

FanMail sat at #1 for five weeks. That Grammy-winning effort by TLC became the trio’s first chart-topper on the Billboard 200. Daydream held onto No. 1 for six total weeks. Mariah Carey has six Number Ones in her discography.

SOS is presently SZA’s only album to reach #1 on the Billboard 200 chart. It opened in the top spot with record-breaking streaming numbers. Her debut studio LP, Ctrl, peaked at #3 in 2017. Ctrl has charted on the Billboard 200 for over 290 weeks.

For SOS, SZA tapped Don Toliver, Phoebe Bridgers, Travis Scott, and the late Ol’ Dirty Bastard as guest features. The 33-year-old singer/songwriter scored Top 10 hits on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with “Good Days,” “I Hate U,” and “Nobody Gets Me.”

SZA’s SOS era also includes the global success of her “Kill Bill” single. An official music video for “Kill Bill” includes a cameo from Kill Bill movie star Vivica A. Fox. The visuals have amassed nearly 9 million views since debuting on YouTube on January 10.

The OnlyFans service allows hosts to provide exclusive content to their subscribers. While pornography is popular on the platform, Blueface claims he made nearly $800,000 without going nude for his fans.

Blueface posted a screenshot of an invoice to his Instagram Story. According to the image, the 25-year-old “Thotiana” hitmaker grossed $798,800.26 from his OnlyFans account. The verified Bluegc2022 page charges $25/month for access.

“If you can find a way on OnlyFans without showing your private parts, I highly recommend [it]. Crazy work, good salary📈,” wrote Blueface on his Instagram Story.

He added, “Side note: Nothing wrong with showing your private parts on there tho. I ain’t knocking the hustle. S### my privates [are] online for free. I’m just not promoting that to my audience. Nothing personal.”

Last October, Blueface’s on-and-off-again girlfriend, ChriseanRock, reportedly leaked a sex tape featuring the couple. The two controversial figures now star in the Zeus network’s Crazy In Love reality series which premiered in December 2022.

Numerous other celebrities have set up an OnlyFans account. For example, internet personality Bhad Bhabie, Australian rapper Iggy Azalea, and B2K member Lil Fizz all made headlines in the last year for their respective OF content.

Sheek Louch Accuses Young Thug’s Co-Defendants Of Snitching: “It’s All The Way Horrible”

Sheek Louch is dishing out some advice to Young Thug, telling him to rid himself of the people around him and accusing the YSL rapper’s co-defendants of snitching on him.

The Lox member shared his thoughts during a VladTV interview while discussing his latest single. He opened with an explanation of why he called the track “Loyal or Stupid.”

“I’m definitely talking from a different age right now,” Sheek Louch began. “I’m a hundred years old, Vlad, so my definition of keeping it real is different maybe right now than what it was back then, you know what I mean? So loyal or stupid is ‘Don’t be loyal to these dudes that’s not really loyal to you,‘ man. Or even to themselves.”

Vlad directed the conversation to the YSL RICO case and claimed “loyalty is being pushed and questioned” in Hip-Hop currently. He referenced the various plea deals taken by Gunna and others ahead of Young Thug’s upcoming trial.

“Listen, I think it’s all the way horrible,” the Yonkers rapper stated. “Whatever you’re involved in, man, if you’re not gonna go all the way with it, man, it’s no place for that kind of s###, to even…how can I say this? To snitch.”

Sheek Louch Tells Young Thug: “Stop Relying on These Other Guys”

Sheek then offered Young Thug some advice. “I would get rid of all these m############ around you,” he offered before adding, “Take whatever they’re gonna give you. Stop relying on these other guys, man, they’re not down with you. How about that?”

Sheek then admitted he doesn’t know the YSL rappers well enough to speak to the events surrounding their case but added Young Thug was likely caught off-guard by the plea deals.

“From what I’m seeing, it’s crazy,” Sheek Louch stated. “I know he’s sitting back and being like ‘G#######, we was homies.’ Right?”

Ultimately, the “Money, Power & Respect,” hitmaker claimed the deals made Young Thug’s case more difficult to fight.

“If everybody would’ve just shut the f### up, nobody would’ve been in that much trouble. I mean, they know what they know, of course. We know that, right? But still, it’s no space for n##### talking, man. That’s just making everything worse. That’s why they separate you, they give you separate lawyers, they do all that kind of s###. It’s crazy. I don’t even know Thug like that, but God bless you, bro. It’s f##### up for you.”

“Offset picked up the phone, and he’s just like ‘No!” screaming,” she said, adding he kept screaming “No!” over and again. When Cardi asked Offset what was going on, he replied, “Takeoff is dead,” at which point she “smacked him. “

The couple was in shock and couldn’t believe the news. Offset continued screaming and eventually became physically sick.

Meek Mill Welcomed Gunna Home, Then Stopped Following Him

There is a boulder on a big hill and that boulder says “I don’t like Wunna.” Well, guys. Last month, Meek Mill tweeted support for Gunna coming home. He said:

The tweet may have been a big premature. First of all, it was deleted. Somebody probably told Meek of the nuance of the release. He didn’t quite snitch, but he did co-sign some stuff, as did another members of Young Thug’s YSL. It ain’t illegal to be in a gang! If so, cops all over the states would be under arrest instantly. But it does not help at all, especially when the gang in question is on trial for murder, robbery and witness intimidation.

Sorry, I got a bit deep in the woods. At the end of the day, Meek rescinded his support of Gunna. He went a step farther and unfollowed him on social media.

Easy come, easy go.

How will Gunna move back into society? I do not see that dude will be able to do that easily. Like I said before, he’s gunna have to have a ton of security and a fairly large best friend walking with him everywhere. Especially at awards shows and things of that nature.

Funk Flex Unbans Tekashi 6ix9ne From Radio Show; Claims Lots Of Rappers Snitch

Funkmaster Flex declared he’s lifting his ban on Tekashi 6ix9ine’s music.

The longtime radio host revealed he’s now willing to play 6ix9ine’s songs on Hot 97 in an Instagram post on Monday (January 16). Funk Flex said many artists “cooperate with law enforcement,” which made him reconsider his 6ix9ine ban.

“IM NO LONGER NOT ‘NOT’ PLAYING 6IX 9INE MUSIC ANYMORE! (SPEAKING FOR MYSELF ONLY),” Funk Flex wrote. “OBVIOUSLY ACCORDING TO REPORTS… THE TREND AMONGST ALOT OF CURRENT RAPPERS (SINCE AND BEFORE 6IX 9INE) CONSIST OF COOPERATING AND TESTIFYING!”

The veteran DJ shared his thoughts a month after Gunna accepted a plea deal in the YSL RICO case. 6ix9ine recently trolled Gunna, who was released from jail while Young Thug and 13 co-defendants await trial.

Funk Flex praised Young Thug, Bobby Shmurda and several other rappers for being the “last of that stand-up tradition.” The Hot 97 host later added Jim Jones’ perspective on unbanning 6ix9ine in an update.

“[Jim Jones] EXPRESSED THAT FOR HIM THERE WILL NEVER BE ANY TOLERANCE FOR TESTIFYING AND COOPERATING!” Funk Flex wrote. “IN TODAYS ERA… JONES AND I MAY DISAGREE ON THE WHY OR WHY NOT THE MUSIC SHOULD PLAY OF PEOPLE WHO COOPERATE BUT WE BOTH AGREE THAT TIMES MIGHT OF CHANGED AND INTEGRITY IS FULLY LOST!”

Apryl Jones And Tay Diggs Working On New Movie

Rumors were saying that the odd Hollywood couple Taye Diggs and Apryl Jones, aka Omarion’s baby mother and Lil Fizz’s ex-live-in girlfriend, have broken up. But Love and Hip Hop’s Helen of Troy says nothing could be further from the truth. In fact, the two are working on a movie together.

According to movie producer and screenwriter  J. Carter, he has cast the two in an upcoming movie.

He posted on IG, “I’ve been holding on to this one for a while, y’all. Look. At. This. Cast. #TheComebackMovie is coming soon. Written and Executive Produced by yours truly.”

Casted for the production is Diggs, who will play Jeff Murray. Murray is married to a woman named Tisa (played by Jones), who allegedly had an affair with his ex-girlfriend named Melanie (played by newcomer Judi Johnson).

Principal photography starts the week of MLK Day.

What sparked the rumors was when both individuals unfollowed each other on social media.

But the couple was just seen together on the red carpet for “The Best Man,” the series on Peacock and she actually wished him a Happy Birthday two weeks ago.

“Happy Born Day to you my love! I love you to pieces. ❤️”

Also, just days ago, we think we hear Diggs in the background whispering to “do it,” as Jones sings with her and O’s daughter some late 90s N’SYNC, “Tearin’ Up My Heart.”

Listen close.
