Nas Hops On Joint With 21 Savage

It seems like it was just yesterday when 21 Savage appeared to disrespect Nas when he said he was not relevant. Nas did not comment, even though there was a windfall of criticism to fall down on the younger, British born rapper.

Nas, ever the elder statesmen, decides to do the unthinkable. He actually gets on a track with said rapper. The results are amazing, if only due to the look and expeditiousness of the effort. Or was it recorded before the statement in question was ever made? Only time will tell…

Derek Chauvin Tries To Escape Prison Sentence For Killing George Floyd With Appeal Set For January

Derek Chauvin, the former police officer who killed George Floyd, will appeal his conviction at a hearing on January 18.

According to court documents obtained by AllHipHop, Derek Chauvin listed several reasons why he believed his trial was unfair. His lawyers claimed the “pretrial publicity coupled with threats of violence poisoned the jury.”

Attorneys argued the size of the jury pool didn’t mitigate issues regarding prejudice against Derek Chauvin. They suggested there wasn’t a proper “cooling period” and complained about media coverage.

“The overwhelming media coverage had exposed the jurors—literally every day—to news demonizing Chauvin and glorifying Floyd was more than sufficient to presume prejudice in the Hennepin County community,” lawyers wrote. “This was not objective factual coverage. That publicity highlighted the unique pressures by the physical proximity to the events, the responding protests, and property destruction in Hennepin County.”

A jury found Derek Chauvin guilty of second-degree unintentional murder, third-degree murder and second-degree manslaughter. His attorneys claimed the jury proved its prejudice by finding him guilty on all three counts.

Derek Chauvin’s legal team took issue with him being charged with third-degree murder. They claimed his conviction should be overturned because “police officers cannot be convicted for felony murder under Minnesota law.”

“In order for a police officer to be convicted of murder, Minnesota statutes require the officer to be using ‘deadly force’—force one knows will cause either death or ‘great bodily harm,’” his lawyers wrote. “Putting your knees on the back of a suspect does not create a ‘substantial risk of causing, death or great bodily harm.’ The State says this is harmless because ‘[t]he jury would not have returned a guilty verdict on third-degree murder and found that Chauvin’s same act did not constitute a special danger to human life.’”

Derek Chauvin’s legal team accused the district court of abusing its power by rejecting a motion to change the venue of the trial. They felt their client was unfairly denied a hearing to investigate jury misconduct as well.

The attorneys also accused the prosecution of misconduct. They argued the trial was “structurally defective.”

Derek Chauvin asked the appeals court to overturn his conviction or remand his case for a new trial. At the very least, he sought a reduced sentence. The ex-cop was sentenced to more than 20 years in prison for George Floyd’s murder.

Metro Boomin Trends After Unleashing New Film With Young Thug & Gunna

Metro Boomin became a trending topic on Twitter by releasing a short film for his Heroes & Villains album on Tuesday (November 29).

Gibson Hazard directed the short film, which features actors Morgan Freeman and LaKeith Stanfield. Freeman portrays an advisor to Metro Boomin and provides narration for the video. Stanfield plays the film’s villain.

Young Thug and Gunna also make cameo appearances as the hosts of “P News.” The two are currently in jail awaiting trial in the YSL RICO case. The trial is scheduled to begin in January 2023.

Metro Boomin’s short film contains snippets of a few songs from his upcoming album. His Heroes & Villains LP is due out on Friday (December 2).

The album was originally supposed to be released in November, but Metro Boomin pushed it back to December due to sample clearance issues. He denied the delay had anything to do with Drake and 21 Savage’s Her Loss project, which dropped on November 4.

“I couldn’t get all the samples on my album cleared in time for next week so I’m dropping on Dec 2nd now so I have enough time to make sure you all get this masterpiece as intended,” Metro Boomin wrote on Twitter. “I promise it’s worth the wait!! P.S. I would NEVER move my album date because of anyone else.”

More Money Troubles For Kanye West: Must Pay Kim Kardashian $2.4 Million Per YEAR

Kanye West agreed to pay $200,000 per month to Kim Kardashian as part of their divorce settlement.

According to TMZ, both sides reached a deal to avoid a trial in the divorce case. The settlement left Kanye West on the hook for $2.4 million per year in child support.

‘Ye must wire $200,000 to Kim Kardashian’s account on the first of every month. The settlement added to his financial burdens as he recently claimed he owes the IRS $50 million.

The former couple divided their assets based on the terms of their prenup. They also waived spousal support.

Kanye West and Kim Kardashian agreed to joint custody of their four children. If any issues arise involving their children, the two will participate in mediation to resolve the problem. If one of them doesn’t take part in the mediation, the other party will win by default.

Kim Kardashian filed for divorce in February 2021. She married Kanye West in 2014. It was her third marriage.

Earlier this year, a judge declared Kim Kardashian to be legally single amid divorce proceedings. After leaving ‘Ye, she started dating Pete Davidson – much to the chagrin of her ex-husband. Her relationship with the comedian reportedly ended in August.

Is Chrisean Rock Pregnant With Blueface’s Baby?

Is Chrisean Rock pregnant?

Blueface‘s girlfriend stays in the media. You might have noticed a few days ago, right in the thick of the Thanksgiving holiday, she showed how she makes macaroni and cheese. The mac & cheese looked horrible, because she was making it with her bare hands. Christina Milian was another one that was doing the same thing. I just wanted to make sure that we were completely aware of how they get down in the kitchen, because this means we can’t trust anything they do! Not that we will ever sit down with them, but you get what I am saying…

Back to the rumor at hand. It seems like Chrisean Rock is with child. Now, I must admit, I don’t see any proof anywhere else on the entire internet that she’s actually pregnant. Furthermore, it seems as though she made the startling announcement on social media.

This comes as Blueface on the hook for an attempted murder. Some of maintain it was an act of self-defense, but that did not stop him from being arrested. And just like that, his lady is potentially in the world all herself. She says that she can’t make it without Blueface. And, based on the extent of their toxic relationship of being young and crazy in love, I agree with her.

That said: it would be very shocking to see that she was pregnant at this particular time. She thinks it’s hard without him – try that with a baby. This also could be just some BS that somebody made up to start a rumor. Her Twitter and Instagram show nothing about her being pregnant. Unless it was deleted.

Anyway, they have been partying like it’s 1999, now that he’s out on bond. They were in Phoenix doing what they do in the aftermath of his arrest. He will be back in court in January to answer to a portion of the attempted murder charges. Blueface and Chrisean Rock may be having a baby, but is that possible with them partying in Vegas?

EXCLUSIVE: Young Thug Desperate To Keep Lyrics & “Social Media Poetry” Out Of Trial

Young Thug’s lawyers filed a motion to prevent prosecutors from using his lyrics and “social media poetry” in the RICO trial against YSL members.

According to court documents obtained by AllHipHop, Young Thug’s legal team asked Judge Ural Glanville to exclude songs, lyrics, music videos and more from the evidence in the upcoming trial.

Attorneys claimed their client’s lyrics were protected under the First and Fourteenth Amendments of the U.S. Constitution as well as Article I, Section I of the Georgia Constitution.

“The admission and use of these lyrics/poetry/artistry against [Young Thug] in his upcoming trial would be a Constitutional violation and an abuse of discretion, too prejudicial and unconstitutional,” his lawyers contended. “Moreover, using these lyrics/poetry/artistry/speech against [Young Thug] is racist and discriminatory because the jury will be so poisoned and prejudiced by these lyrics/poetry/artistry/speech.”

Attorneys said the use of lyrics as evidence amounted to “character assassination.” Young Thug’s legal team sought to protect his freedom of speech.

“[Young Thug] has the absolute right, like all persons in America, to exercise lawful speech/expression,” his lawyers argued. “Therefore, these lyrics/poetry/words/speech/artistry must be excluded from the Indictment and excluded from all testimony and evidence presented in trial.”

They added, “Further, any videos, photographs, posts or like images that deal with these lyrics/words/speech/poetry/artistry must also be excluded from trial. Said videos et al. are protected speech/expression.”

Young Thug, Gunna and more than two dozen YSL members were indicted for racketeering and gang activity in May. Thugger was hit with six more felony charges in August.

The YSL RICO trial is scheduled to start in January. Prosecutors wanted to delay the trial until March, but Judge Glanville ruled against them.

Jury selection begins on January 5, 2023. Judge Glanville expects the trial to last six to nine months.

Zach Hirsch Explains How He Landed A Sports Podcast With Jadakiss

It’s crazy to think Zach Hirsh is only 20 years old and already accomplishing what most people could only dream of in a lifetime. Boasting 1.8 million followers on Instagram alone, Zach might be one of the youngest, most accurate sports analysts and handicappers out there.

Zach explains, “A handicapper is someone who predicts games, that’s how I got my start. I’m also a Web3, Gen Z, thought leader, and now content creator and chief evangelist.”

Having the golden opportunity to shadow Jake Paul in his boxing endeavors, Zach was present with Jake Paul in Phoenix the entire week leading up to his most recent fight against Silva. Not only is he able to cover and document Jake’s fights, but he’s also been able to foster a genuine friendship that goes far beyond social media.

Zach’s recent Instagram post sums it all up: “From the backyard to the biggest star in boxing! Last night was the byproduct of three and a half years of hardwork! Have loved being there for the whole journey. The Problem Child @jakepaul is now the top draw in all of combat sports!”

Additionally, Zach Hirsch has his own sports podcast with Jadakiss on Worldstar, someone he definitely grew up listening to.

AllHipHop spoke with Zach Hirsch in downtown Los Angeles to discuss his background, biggest influences, how he got tapped in with Jake Paul and Jadakiss, goals, and more!

AllHipHop: Being from Florida, what was that like growing up?

Zach Hirsch: So I live in Fort Lauderdale now. I’m from Boca, Delray area, a little bit north, but it was good growing up. Only good things to say. I still live there now, I don’t think I’ll live anywhere else so… Boca/Delray is a niche community. If you watch Seinfeld, that’s where Jerry’s parents move. That’s where all the old Jewish people live, so it was good growing up.

AllHipHop: Who were you influenced by as a kid?

Zach Hirsch: My biggest influence is anything in sports. Starting when I was very young, I’d wake up and watch SportsCenter for a few hours. Try to digest everything I could, memorize all the rankings and statistics and recite them to everyone I could. Same thing with video games as well. Madden, 2K, whatever I could get my hands on. When I got into broadcasting and that type of thing. I’d say my biggest inspiration has been Cael Sonnen.

AllHipHop: Who’s that?

Zach Hirsch: He was a former MMA fighter, UFC fighter, but he’s also a commentator and makes videos. The way he speaks, he speaks fast like I do. He’s able to make it so it’s understandable and easy to digest, so that was a big inspiration for me.

AllHipHop: Did you play sports?

Zach Hirsch: Yeah, I always played sports. But I’m six feet tall and white, so wasn’t gonna play college or anything. But did my best, played football and basketball growing up. Now I box still, so that’s fun.

AllHipHop: How did you get such a big following on social media?

Zach Hirsch: Yeah, it was kind of an accident. [chuckles] My senior year, my school wanted me to make a sports blog, which I obliged and I made ipickwins.com. The Instagram went with it. I made videos, I didn’t think it’d go anywhere. I’d do my picks and get a portfolio before I went to college for sports management. Milton, who’s Logan’s boxing coach, told me I should come out and support for his camp against KSI. I started getting cool with Jake and Logan and them, creating content. That’s where it began, the influencer side of things.

AllHipHop: What is your relationship with Jake Paul?

Zach Hirsch: It started right then and we’ve been cool ever since. That was before he ever had a pro fight, when he was boxing in Logan’s backyard, so the journey’s been really big. Right now he’s 6-0, and back then he’s 0-0. I’m a part of his camps. I’ve been part of them from Miami to now Puerto Rico, so it’s been a lot of fun.

AllHipHop: What would you say was the best memory so far?

Zach Hirsch: Let’s say this past Saturday when he beat Anderson da Silva. It was a lot different than all of the other ones, right? This wasn’t a gimmick fight. It wasn’t in my mind a fight where I was 100% supremely confident we were gonna go in there and bulldoze this guy like the other ones. This was a legend in the sport and a guy with a lot of boxing experience, who’s bigger and taller than Jake as well. It was a tall task and it was a lot of fun to see Jake’s full skills on display there.

AllHipHop: Do you prep before each fight, if you’re gonna commentate?

Zach Hirsch: Yeah, I really talk a lot and hang out a lot with BJ Flores, who’s Jake’s head trainer. Danny Smith as well, who’s a co-trainer with BJ. Jacob Chavez, J’Leon Love. I break down tape and I’m a part of the camp. I help bring in sparring partners, all that type of stuff.

AllHipHop: How did you meet and end up hosting your podcast with Jadakiss?

Zach Hirsch: Jada’s my partner now, in everything we do from content creation to business to tech. There’s also friendship indebted in that. I linked up with Jada after the VERZUZ battle. I was working with Triller and I did a prediction with BetMGM. They sponsored it. Kiss caught wind of that. One of my guys went up to the block, they were just chillin’. Fetty Wap was there, Jadakiss, everyone.

They got me on the phone with Jada and he said, “oh, we should do a sports show.” I was like what? Jadakiss wants to do a sport show? At first, I thought it was too surreal to even be possible. We linked it up and I did a little interview with him for ipickwins, when he got down to Miami. That went well, I showed it to my guy Danny at Worldstar. We got the deal done, and then the podcast started.

AllHipHop: Talk about your Web3 platform Mozverse, and the collaboration with Scott Storch.

Zach Hirsch: Mozverse has been in the works for a few years now. At first, it was just gonna be a run of the mill, metaverse platform. I’ve always been passionate about the metaverse since I’ve watched Ready Player One, read the book Snow Crash, and all that type of stuff.

Later on, I went to Logan Paul’s house to interview him and he mentioned to me that I needed to get into NFTs. That was the future, that’s how I was gonna make money. I called my partner Danny, we started to do NFT marketplaces and a lot of dope stuff in that field. Now, we’re linked up and partnered with Scott Storch. We collaborate with him on the entertainment side of things, he’s been able to do some great things as well. I also got to speak with Jadakiss at a crypto convention, that was a lot of fun. We’ve been able to do a lot of dope things with short amount of time.

AllHipHop: Did you listen to Jadakiss? Like you’re so young.

Zach Hirsch: Yeah yeah yeah. My dad had me on everything from Eazy-E who’s on this shirt. Biggie, The Lox, Kiss, Ma$e… Tone Loc. Run-DMC. Anything you can think of old school rap, I was on growing up. For sure.

AllHipHop: Talk about being only 20 and doing all this? Did you ever think you’d be here?

Zach Hirsch: Yeah, it’s become real. As time goes on, and definitely on the sports and media side of things. I knew I’d get here and I know I’m gonna continue to ascend and do even better things. In my mind, I’m gonna have my own show on a major cable network. Probably with Kiss. This is just the tip of the iceberg.

AllHipHop: Do you have any goals?

Zach Hirsch: A goal I have is to be a color commentator for one of the major boxing networks. That’s really important to me, then from there branch out to MMA and football and basketball. To continue to make myself more mainstream in the sports media space, and to make Mozverse as big as I think it can be, which is one of the biggest companies in the world.

AllHipHop: Who’s been your favorite podcast guest?

Zach Hirsch: That’s a good one. My favorite podcast guest has been Brandon Marshall. He gave a lot of really deep answers that required a lot of thought. We dove into deeper topics than just sports. We talked about mental health and a lot of really important stuff that I think people can relate to. That episode shows the layers and the depth that we’re able to cover on the show, with my knowledge and Kiss’s knowledge. It was really dope.

Will Smith Says He Understands If People Shun His New Movie After He Assaulted Chris Rock At The Oscars

Will Smith “completely” understands if people aren’t ready to watch his new film Emancipation following his Oscars controversy.

The “Men in Black” actor hit the headlines around the world in March when he slapped Chris Rock onstage at the Academy Awards after the comedian made a joke at his wife’s expense.

Will is gearing up to release “Emancipation,” his first project since the scandal, and he completely respects if people aren’t ready to watch him in a new movie just yet.

“I completely understand – if someone is not ready, I would absolutely respect that and allow them their space to not be ready,” he said to journalist Kevin McCarthy, who posted the clip on Twitter.

However, he hopes his actions don’t take away from the hard work his director Antoine Fuqua and the rest of the cast and crew put into the historical drama.

“My deepest concern is my team – Antoine has done what I think is the greatest work of his entire career,” Will continued. “The people on this team have done some of the best work of their entire careers, and my deepest hope is that my actions don’t penalize my team.”

He added, “At this point, that’s what I’m working for, that’s what I’m hoping for. I’m hoping that the material – the power of the film, the timeliness of the story – I’m hoping that the good that can be done would open people’s hearts at a minimum to see and recognize and support the incredible artists in and around this film.”

“Emancipation,” in which Will plays an escaped slave, is set to stream on Apple TV+ on December 9th.

Does Anybody Care About Brittney Griner Or Black Women?

Basketball star Brittney Griner was like a fast and furious fad.

She was in all the news and social media: “FREE BRITTNEY GRINER!” They yelled it and screamed it as if Putin and all of Russia could hear them. Suddenly, and I do mean faster than the Flash, she’s out of the headlines and social media, too. Perhaps people realized this is out of their hands. Some say things such as, “Why did she have weed in Russia in the first place?” Most of it is ridiculous.

Now, she lives in deplorable conditions most of us could not fathom. She is in a Russian prison, a far cry from prisons in the states. Reports say she is subjected to blatant homophobia and racism while working painstakingly long 16-hour days. She is not even treated like a human as a prisoner in Mordovia, per Dave Zirin, which is sad. What is sadder is that nobody seems to care anymore.

The incarcerated get little to no medical care, there’s bigotry and homophobia left unchecked, and they work on behalf of the prison guards and police officers. Griner is 6′ 8″ and likely does not have a bed to fit her. According to her people, Griner is doing her best to stay positive, but some feel she won’t last in this hellish existence. She is only two months into a nine-year sentence.

Musician Nadya Tolokonnikova, known as the lead of the rebellious feminist group P#### Riot, was incarcerated for two years in Mordovia – nearly 10 years ago to the date of Griner’s jailing. And she said it was hell where the prisoners were subjected to violence. “Despite the fact [Griner] is alone and now nearing her ninth month in detention separated from her loved ones,” one of her representative said, “she is trying to stay strong.”

If she is trying to stay strong, why aren’t we?

This is a Black woman – a basketball star – that is a profit center for the WNBA and others, but we have quickly forgotten about her. It is not right, straight up. It is also indicative of how we treat Black women overall and how little we value them. There are close to 100,000 Black women missing in America, a 2021 stat so it is likely more now. There is no outrage for these missing humans, but if they were white, there would be a continual stream of media swarming the matter.

But, it is mostly mute crickets.

In fact, we spend a disproportionate amount of time on Kanye West, Cardi B, Kyrie and random foolishness online in general. We know for a fact that the social media machine, primarily TikTok, is built to promote foolishness and mindless entertainment. And, at the same time, Black women are missing. And, at the same time, Black people are still dying in the streets in a myriad of ways. Simultaneously, the true dangers we face are not being addressed in any meaningful way by mainstream media.

Griner was accused of bringing a minuscule amount of hashish oil in her luggage into a Moscow airport. She was subsequently sentenced to nine years in prison and her appeal was denied in October. I had a very direct conversation with celebrated photographer Brother Ernie Paniccioli. The 75-year old legend was distressed. He questioned Hip-Hop’s lack of concern for Griner. He questioned the lack of concern for just about anything. He questioned how we got here after being principled and founded in positivity (“Peace, Unity, Love and Having Fun”).

U.S. officials continue to negotiate to get Griner out, but the prisoner swap has not been accepted. What Brother Ernie could not accept in our conversation is that Hip-Hop no longer cares. Although it is not a monolithic movement, once upon a time, the rappers led the charge politically and people followed. They still bend the public’s ear when ever they say something remotely politically charged no matter how unintelligent they may sound or misinformed. Some less notable artists have gotten traction on social media but rarely get on MSNBC or CNN.

Officially a political prisoner, it looks like freedom or some tragic occurrence is the only pathway to get Brittney Griner back in the headlines and consciousness of the general public.

The good news is there seems to be some hope that she still can be swapped for another prisoner. The bad news is that won’t change our priorities.

Balenciaga Bosses Apologize For Cringy Child Abuse Ad Campaign – Again

Balenciaga executives have condemned child abuse in a second apology over a controversial advertising campaign.

Earlier this month, team members posted imagery to the brand’s Instagram account featuring children holding teddy bears dressed in bondage.

Following backlash online, a representative apologized and had the campaign removed from social media. But in light of further concern, bosses released another apology on Monday.

https://www.instagram.com/p/Clg9BijLUHe/?hl=en

“We would like to address the controversies surrounding our recent ad campaigns. We strongly condemn child abuse; it was never our intent to include it in our narrative,” they wrote in a statement. “The two separate ad campaigns in question reflect a series of grievous errors for which Balenciaga takes responsibility.”

A spokesperson went on to emphasize that the call to feature kids with bears outfitted in “B###-inspired outfits” was a “wrong choice” and the “responsibility for this lies with Balenciaga alone.”

In addition, leaders are planning to take legal action against the production company and set designer over the inclusion of a U.S. Supreme Court ruling about child pornography in one of the images from the spring 2023 campaign.

“We take full accountability for our lack of oversight and control of the documents in the background, and we could have done things differently,” they continued.

As a result, Balenciaga bosses are conducting internal and external investigations and have promised to lay “the groundwork with organizations who specialize in child protection.”

“Balenciaga reiterates its sincere apologies for the offense we have caused and extends its apologies to talents and partners,” they added.

Demna Gvasalia, who serves as creative director at the luxury label, has not yet publicly commented on the controversy.

The statement comes a day after brand ambassador Kim Kardashian confirmed she was “re-evaluating” her relationship with Balenciaga as a result of the campaign.

Diddy Flexes His British Accent After Giggs Teaches Him U.K. Slang

As an increasing amount of British art and culture reaches American shores, U.K. rappers are taking to teaching their U.S. counterparts a thing or two about British street talk.

The latest lesson comes from South London rapper Giggs, a frequent visitor to the U.S., often hanging out with the likes of Maino and Dave East in New York. Giggs recently linked with Diddy, and the pair had a little transatlantic slang session.

“If something’s handled, I would say ‘Nah, that’s patterned, still,’” the Londoner told the Hip-Hop mogul. Giggs then gave another example to make sure Diddy understood the new lingo. If asked, “Have you arranged the door, or for us to go in,” the appropriate response in the U.K. is, “Nah that’s patterned.” Diddy then repeated the newly learned phrase back to Giggs in his finest U.K. accent. Check out the clip below.

Earlier this month, Giggs was accompanied by his son on one of his stateside visits. However, this trip marked a special occasion for the rapper, who was celebrating his son’s 21st birthday. The father and son partied at a Miami strip club before having dinner with DJ Khaled.

“Bring out the lobster,” Khaled requested, asking for his favorite meal, before addressing Giggs as “the Don,” and his son as the “the Young Don.” Khaled then dapped up the youngster before telling him, “Happy Birthday, brother.”

Meanwhile, one of the rising stars of the U.K. Hip-Hop scene, Central Cee, recently dished out his own transatlantic slang dictionary in rap form. He pulled up to L.A. Leakers with a freestyle in the vein of Big L’s “Ebonics.” Check it out below.

Meg Thee Stallion Makes More Money From Endorsements Than Some Rappers Make From Album Sales

Megan Thee Stallion is closing out 2022 riding high on the heels of success. Now she becomes the first black woman to be featured on Forbes’ 30 under 30 covers.

Perhaps the most obvious sign of success is the $13 million dollars she generated in 2022. During a conversation with the business publication, she revealed how she accomplished this financial feat.

Headed by a combination of royalties, ticket sales, endorsements, and merchandise, the Houston hot girl is a dream come true for any marketing department. Her endorsement resume includes the likes of Nike, Revlon, Cash App, and more. Her peers also respect her capabilities.

“She’s so empowering and so sexy,” said Cardi B “She’s mega-million Megan.” Considering her Flamin’ Hot Cheetos SuperBowl campaign was worth an estimated $2 million alone, not only is she living up to Cardi’s high praise but she makes more money off endorsements than some rappers make off sales.

Megan maintains that she is focused on building her brand outside of music. She wants to be remembered for the full spectrum of her artistry.

Despite the ongoing legal battle with 1501 Entertainment, her team at Roc Nation is focused on the future.

“In such a short time, and all the curses in between, she’s still able to smile, hold her head up and continue,” says Roc Nation CEO Desiree Perez.

Lingo also added, “I know God had to meet one of his purest angels because you were one of them. I’m still trying to understand this life thing, just help me and guide me through this hell on earth, ’cause it’s going to be hard, super hard without you, bro.”

Megan Thee Stallion locked up endorsement deals with Nike, Revlon, Cash App, and Popeyes. The reported $1 million deal with Popeyes includes the fast food chain offering a signature “Hottie Sauce” condiment. The 27-year-old Grammy winner now owns a franchise as well.

2Pac’s ‘Greatest Hits’ Album Spends 450 Weeks On The Billboard 200 Chart

Even though he died in September 1996, Tupac Amaru Shakur is still one of the most talked about rap stars on the planet. 2Pac’s legion of fans around the country continues to purchase and stream his music to this day.

In fact, 2Pac is still charting in 2022. The late West Coast emcee’s 1998 posthumous compilation Greatest Hits has spent a total of 450 weeks on the Billboard 200 album chart. It currently sits at #94 on the latest rankings of top-selling music projects.

Greatest Hits is the fourth-longest charting rap album of all time. The Death Row Records/Interscope Records/Amaru Entertainment release only trails Drake’s Take Care (508), Kendrick Lamar’s Good Kid, M.A.A.D City (526), and Eminem’s Curtain Call: The Hits (607).

This year has also seen other major Billboard 200 milestones for Hip Hop acts. Take Care earned Drake a placement in the Billboard 200’s 500-week club last month. J. Cole’s 2014 Forest Hills Drive surpassed the 400-week mark in August. Get Rich Or Die Tryin’ by 50 Cent marked its 150th week on the chart earlier this month.

Tupac Shakur passed away on September 13, 1996, at the age of 25. The rapper/actor, also known as Makaveli, died following a drive-by shooting in Las Vegas, Nevada. That murder case is still officially unsolved.

Prior to his passing, 2Pac dropped studio LPs such as 1995’s Me Against the World and 1996’s All Eyez on Me. The Recording Industry Association of America certified All Eyez on Me as Diamond (10 million units) in July 2014.

Presented as a double disc, Greatest Hits hosts “Keep Ya Head Up,” “Hail Mary,” “Hit ‘Em Up,” “Brenda’s Got a Baby,” “I Ain’t Mad at Cha,” “I Get Around,” “Dear Mama,” and other classic 2Pac singles. The compilation also earned a Diamond Award from the RIAA.

Kanye West Compares Himself To Civil Rights Icon Martin Luther King Jr.

Kanye “Ye” West has not slowed down his media run following controversy over his statements about the Jewish and Black communities. The Chicago native continues to share his opinions with the world.

For his latest interview, Kanye West took the opportunity to compare himself to historic Civil Rights leader Martin Luther King Jr. Ye’s appearance on the Timcast IRL podcast probably did not last as long as planned.

“I thought I was more Malcolm X but I found out I’m more MLK. Because as I’m getting hosed down every day by the press and financially, I’m just standing there,” said Kanye West.

The Donda album creator added, “When I found out they tried to put me in jail, it was like a dog was biting my arm. I almost shed a tear, almost.” That comment referenced police officers using dogs to attack non-violent Civil Rights protestors in the 1960s.

Tim Pool agreed with Kanye West by saying, “They have been extremely unfair.” Then Ye asked the host, ‘Who is they though?’ Pool responded, “Corporate press.” West then abruptly left the podcast without providing an explanation for his walk-off.

Ye showed up to Tim Pool’s show along with white nationalist/Holocaust denier Nick Fuentes and far-right commentator Milo Yiannopoulos. All three men reportedly met with Donald Trump at the ex-president’s Mar-a-Lago estate which generated backlash directed at Trump.

Over the last several months, West upset members of the Black community by promoting “White Lives Matter” shirts and suggesting George Floyd died from a drug overdose. The 45-year-old rapper then threatened to go “death con 3” on Jewish people.

Multiple corporations, including Adidas and Gap, cut ties with Kanye West following his embracement of antisemitic rhetoric. Ye’s alliance with Nick Fuentes and Milo Yiannopoulos raised some eyebrows as well. Many political pundits consider Fuente and Yiannopoulos to be white supremacists.
